[00:00:01] Hi, I'm Brandon. I love Netflix Movies I'm Brian. I like Netflix movies. I'm Dan and I despise Netflix movies And this is the Deck The Hallmark Podcast Wow hi everybody Welcome back for those that have attended Deck The Hallmark school before

[00:00:42] Back to school back to back to back to school almost I know July 30th Abbeyville County is going back today That new thing that new thing gonna go to school all year long. We're yeah But we're the rest of the world is like Labor Day. Yeah

[00:01:06] Abbeyville County is going back going back to school before Tax-free weekend, but that's it should be illegal But they're gonna get off two weeks like in the middle of like they get off random two weeks We get out there's so much kids are off school so dang much

[00:01:19] Send the kids to school Stop teaching when did kids stop going to school coordinate childcare? I just send the kids to school let me learn It's the it's the biggest take away for the biggest shift in focus as a parent has been like Kids aren't in school enough

[00:01:38] Yeah, yeah used to be like why why it wins a break now. It's when are they going? Yeah Always on break I used to think it was for 180 days and then I heard it's only 172 like were we even going

[00:01:52] That's less than half the year people. Hmm. What are we doing? I know Wow I know well it takes less time for the I was gonna make a wop mob joke, but we're not here for that We're here to talk about a family affair a family

[00:02:08] Nettles on it in this mystery Netflix is a platform that I no no iteration I haven't been on Netflix in a minute. I was reminded. I just I got what is there to watch?

[00:02:23] I watch a ton of stuff on that place like what my wife watches the Great British Baking okay, which I I watched one episode of and that was plenty for me Okay, and every single episode a woman who is maybe a hundred taste every cake and tells them

[00:02:38] It's lovely every one of them that she just says it's lovely So nice and it's it's just like a warm bath where nothing happens of importance in people's and seemed to really love But when something does happen you really notice I guess well

[00:02:49] I just I watched one and I was out okay, so that's something that you're what what have you been watching bodkin Forte okay currently on there you're watching Cobra Kai yeah, you watch Cobra Kai yeah, haven't dipped into the new I haven't looked forward to it

[00:03:04] There's a lot of Netflix that I watch is you know what there's also a lot on and I would say it rivals it Yep, it's right. Actually. I think it has a one up on it. Yeah, here we go. It's phyla. Oh, well, yeah Oh

[00:03:19] Channels that the 30,000 hours of streaming like all you it's all kinds of crazy unlimited DV Unlimited unlimited DVR So if you are thinking about trying something add it to your DVR And if you like it keep it there if you don't like it get rid of it

[00:03:33] It doesn't or just keep it there too. It good. It doesn't matter a good second Education the kids aren't getting yeah, that's right. They can it's just unlimited DVR. They just keep watching Yeah, there's educational stuff on there I've been educated by watching follow deep dive as well

[00:03:49] every week or Every other depending on how things are going Can I ask you guys this highlight of Christmas in July what wasn't for you ramble fist obviously ramble boss baby fest as well

[00:04:04] Yeah, I know we talked about it. I was mainly yeah, I was mainly meeting the movies the movies. Yes Wasn't one violent night. I love violent night. I thought it was great the three the three Hallmark offerings

[00:04:20] Tough sledding out there choke on something I got worse every one of the movies was worse than the previous movie Well, yeah, listen our list are don't align and that's okay. What do you what? What is your idea?

[00:04:31] You see your I had a post that I want to get the ridicule for having the beer movie number one Oh Yeah, we really lay the beer movie one beer movie one Okay Beer movie snowflake nutcracker We play a game like this interpret

[00:04:55] Snowflake nutcracker. That's my one two three. Did it make you want to have a beer? Have you had a beer in a while? I haven't had a beer in a long time. I haven't had a beer in a while

[00:05:04] I just thought that the the the the mouth for the mouth for the beer you don't have the mouth You know, I don't have my mouth my my palate you know, it's an interesting way to say I don't have the mouth for the mouth for Hong Kong

[00:05:18] I don't have the mouth for it a lot of people do and that's fine with them But I just think that it is I don't want to have the movie I don't want to have to work towards

[00:05:29] Inspirational movies one of the worst movies I've ever seen that the the home the very and it's not even cause called a very Vermont Christmas

[00:05:36] It's not even called a beer movie. It's called a very Vermont Christmas. It's one of the worst home our Christmas movies I've ever seen Okay, literally to each his own and I think if I think you have a different mouth than me

[00:05:47] Yeah, I don't have the mouth for that movie I can tell you that for and I also can say this if you were to rank every home our Christmas movie We'd seen that would not crack the top 100 Close And we'd cracked the top 150

[00:06:01] It may not crack the top 200 Are we gonna do a tier list for that all of the Stories that we've ever watched dude, that'd be a whole series dude. That'd be a series. It's not a bad idea Would you we have to do this?

[00:06:14] How would that down tucked that away all the movies you've seen yeah We should have done it after After your He turned her mic off and camera off and then just starts yelling a right stuff down

[00:06:35] We should have done it after year five because it's like five years here's the five years We're gonna do after seven. I think this is I think this what we do we do it Matt How many we got to figure out how many we've watched

[00:06:49] Yeah, we've watched a lot We've probably watched 250 or 3 if we've gotten to 300 that's a perfect number to do it How many Christmas Hallmark Christmas movies have we reviewed? I mean a question. I mean we could figure this out 19 20 21 22 23 6 times 40s 240 so we've done 24

[00:07:07] New ones yeah, and so we're gonna have 40 more this year That's 280 maybe a little bit less than that because the first year is only 37. Yeah But there's some you know, yeah, I think we're close

[00:07:17] But but then you add in all the classics we've done we may be at 400. Yeah, oh my I don't know I think with with the classics. I think we're at 300. We've done more than 20 classics. Oh Christmas

[00:07:28] Yes, you think so I know so we've done some that definitely aren't classic Classic Would take us So many movies that I don't remember that are just really have to we really in the marathon

[00:07:45] Yeah, kill half a day. That is a whole that's a whole ordeal. We tried to do a by the way Marathon announcement we're very excited marathon is coming back once again this October to kick off the holiday season and

[00:07:59] Us and all of the other deck the home our coast will be spending an entire 24 plus hours in one house You'll be able to watch the whole thing is gonna be a lot of fun

[00:08:07] Things might get messy. Thank the arguments might might break out. Yeah, there's nowhere to hide Bubbling to the surface. Yeah, it's gonna be it's gonna be a lot of fun, but we did a

[00:08:18] Kickoff or a preview we did a preview episode during a marathon once and it just kind of drag Nightmare programmatic stuff sure Because there was no there was no energy for bits and the preview episode lives and dies on Which preview show coming out later this week

[00:08:38] Yes, let's get to a family Coming out in August. Yes, I almost lost my mom June Yeah, I think it's mainly the fact that is coming in all this. Yeah, but you know it's done like

[00:08:55] Recall it's probably that her name is probably that might it has nothing to do with June What do you want a name could be your nickname June want to change your name? Yeah, I do I don't Jun has nothing to do with the month. Yeah, just like

[00:09:12] Everything to do with the month and less is the holiday season then it has something to do all rules Everybody knows out the window a family fair originally dropped on Netflix as the kids say it dropped

[00:09:22] Kids say that the kids say dropped. I don't know what is it? What do they kids say? I'm sure the kids still say drop the family a fairy yeeted on a June 28th

[00:09:32] 2024 get that going and I would have a little something like that. I definitely didn't do that yeeted We meet Chris Cole. He's a big movie star He does have Riz he touches the grass His next big movie is about to start filming yeah, you bet he Man toilet

[00:09:55] He is at dinner with his girlfriend and his personal assistant shows up throws me well I think it's a ring box. I think he's gonna propose. He does not do that He actually breaks up with her and inside that box is Earrings it's a breakup

[00:10:10] Gift something I think we've all done before the breakup gift worse. Yeah Something that normal people do His assistant Zara gives him a ride in which I got something for you guys That's a saddle what is it you breaking up with us?

[00:10:28] I'm intrigued by what it would be This is mine now I'm the captain been a while. Yeah, it has been a while. Is it those pop tart bites round sugar pop top? We just decided we're calling him pop tart bites. I guess so okay

[00:10:44] His assistant Zara gives him a ride home and she's absolutely miserable He's the worst when she shows up quote-unquote late for work because she was meeting with a writer to rewrite the script Which is something that he asked her to do he changes the gate code on her

[00:11:04] Remember what he said it aided on her Changed up with a pot pie and then you eat it They changed she changed a code I'll say that that's right so many ways She's so angry. She climbs the gate walks inside and quits on them

[00:11:24] When she tells push when she tells her mom her mom is like you made a big mistake They show you should have seen you were so close to getting to the producer status this upset Zara and she leaves

[00:11:37] Chris realizing that he is the one that made a mistake goes to make things right with Zara But Zara is nowhere to be found only Zara's mom Brooke is home He ends up sticking around to wait for Zara at least that was his initial intention, but after

[00:11:53] Some drinking takes place some chit chat chatters and whatnot They start talking about the script and how she's a writer and one thing leads to another and they start to hook Hooker Zara Walker Walks in on them

[00:12:12] And chokes on a grape and then bangs her head against the wall after going to her pediatrician Chris Promises Zara that it will not happen again And that he wants her to come back to work for him and that she will get that

[00:12:28] Associate producer credit that she has been wanting after one day of shooting the movie he texts Brooke and asks for dinner She reluctantly agrees and she shows up to a completely rented out restaurant

[00:12:42] That leads to them having quite the romantic evening which leads to them having quite the romantic weekend Which leads to him asking her to rewrite the movie instead of the person that Zara found

[00:12:56] When Zara finds this out she confronts them and Brooke is like I'm as happy as I've been in a long time And Zara's like shove off mom But after some encouragement from her grandma to let her mom have some fun They all end up having Christmas together

[00:13:13] And they actually have a great time and that my friends was no that's not the movie All of the fun comes to a halt after Zara notices After after Zara notices diamond earrings in Chris's bags

[00:13:28] That's his go-to breakup gift so she confronts him tells Brooke about how awful Chris is and Then shows the earrings he claims. It's not what it looks like but no one believes him and They it's like get out of here

[00:13:47] But this you know Brooke was hurt and it's like sorry you should have done it this way blah blah blah After the new year Zara finds Chris in his trailer upset and alone Chris says that he shouldn't be playing good guys cuz he's a bad guy

[00:14:02] But they make up. He's not so bad Zara then goes to Brooke admitting that she was wrong about Chris But Brooke is still unsure and so Zara sets up a quote-unquote chance and counter at the grocery store They make up they make outs. We're all better for it

[00:14:20] I guess cut to I think a year later and Chris and Brooke are still doing well and Zara has her very own office making big decisions Let's take a quick break we're gonna come back. We're gonna break this movie down here on take the hallmark

[00:14:54] Welcome back everybody. We're talking about a family affair from Netflix from A month ago. Yeah, month now Christmas adjacent maybe you could say it but I wouldn't even know But a good maybe a good a good segue out of Christmas in July. That's exactly right day

[00:15:14] I know we have four segments to break this movie down. We're gonna start with The hot take is where we share exactly how we felt about this movie We do not hold back and I'm gonna kick it to my guy Brian Brian

[00:15:23] You've been known to not hold things back, which is why you kick this segment off, but what do you think about this movie? Yeah, I you know, I ended up liking this one It felt a little long

[00:15:41] Purgatory when you're used to an hour 20 yeah, yeah, and I feel like they could have termed the fat a little bit and got it down No, it's not put words my mouth my I don't have a mouth for that

[00:15:53] a little long but I like the filled dump fiendess of Chris like The kind of goofy kind of a loof a jerk like it felt a little extreme But you know, you gotta you gotta do that in movies. I guess I like the

[00:16:08] In the little bit of inside hollywoodness of it a little bit behind the scenes kind of cool Don't usually see that good conflicts But overall just very disrespectful to Christmas I felt and in what way like I didn't even realize

[00:16:24] I felt like they used it when they needed it and it wasn't really integral It wasn't that important unless it needed to move something along the story or they're like Oh, all of a sudden it's the day before Christmas by the way

[00:16:37] Yeah, one Christmas tree for like the first half of the movie I don't know if it's disrespectful as much as it is the edits, but I'll get to that at my hot take

[00:16:45] I think the edit is the problem, but I get how you see how you got there. Yeah, yeah So it just I wish they just lean in note a little bit more

[00:16:53] Maybe front-loaded and back off it towards the end if we're trying to ease out of Christmas gently But yeah, I thought you know not bad up out overall pretty good pretty good flick You're right about that disrespect Bry completely disrespectful to Christmas

[00:17:09] It was your movie Christmas was used It was used And I didn't and I didn't like it unlike most of the movies we watch here Where Christmas is shown the respected deserves in this movie was not shown the respected deserves

[00:17:26] This movie's okay. It's okay. I felt like it was kind of like three separate movies and they said let's Combine them all in the one and so you get a lot of like whoa, what's going on here?

[00:17:39] So you talk about him being Phil Dumfie of modern family fame sure He isn't till he is exactly right. He isn't till he isn't and Then he is again for a second and then he's great. Yeah, and I yeah I the problem is is they we have

[00:17:59] This character Brooke who is this established writer And like she's like amazing and blah blah blah There's no way that she's fallen for this Chris guy it with him being the Phil Dumfie of it all That's right early on correct and

[00:18:16] It's like he just stops being that guy for a while in the middle of this movie really like to be getting this movie I really liked the end of this movie. I thought that the the

[00:18:26] Grocery store scene where she produced it all got all the extras blah blah the myths in the background That all worked really well for me. It's the middle section that just like felt weird

[00:18:36] Aside from the Christmas in the cabin gave me great Christmas feels nice, but again used Abused Christmas and I don't appreciate that but overall it's an okay. I felt like we had ourselves

[00:18:51] Of some really great potential in this movie and it got lost in the in the weeds a little bit. It's also Not a family affair. They were like that's just wrong wrong the title made me

[00:19:04] Yes, you mentioned this dad, but I also I also thought that he and And Joey King were gonna be a thing and then he was gonna meet the mom of all blood. That's not what happened And I and I don't mind this I kind of like this

[00:19:18] The love triangle seems a little bit too on the nose But the title kind of threw me for looped it Dano like everything virtually we've watched this year It's better than a very Vermont Christmas Having said that this movie is a it's a mess disrespect. Yeah, man

[00:19:35] This movie's a mess Tonally, it's all over the map. It doesn't know if it's a Christmas movie or not It seems like it was re-edited repackaged Repurposed numerous times and the version we get isn't a complete version of anything

[00:19:49] It's not really a romantic comedy. It's not really a drama. It's not really a Christmas movie It's kind of all three of those things. That's unfortunate. We see that in how it's shot and edited

[00:20:00] We see that in its use of Christmas. We also see that in the performances You have Kathy Bates Nicole Kidman both Academy Award winners like acting Titans

[00:20:09] Giving some performances that this movie just doesn't deserve especially in a few scenes where you're like they went way too hard here Then you've got the Efron character who starts off as this very lovable Meathead not bright kind of guy and it's really funny

[00:20:23] The first 20 or 30 minutes have several quality laughs in it then all of a sudden They flip it like brand said they make him this like deep Smart character because that's who Nicole Kidman would go for

[00:20:35] They also weirdly enough in my opinion kind of gaslight Joey King's character for feeling bad Like I get it. She's supposed to recognize that her mom is she supposed to see her mom for who her mom is That's not what I'm mad about but some stuff

[00:20:48] They do in this movie crosses the line like having her hire a rider and then going behind her back to hire somebody else's Riders lying to her and then for after they she finds this out

[00:20:58] They make her feeling feel bad for feeling mad and I thought that was ridiculous Um, I kind of like Joey King and Zac Efron's chemistry a little bit better other Nicole Kidman can really do no wrong So it's just a mess. There's a lot on screen happening

[00:21:13] Most of it doesn't land occasionally funny But this movie doesn't fill any of the buckets It kind of claims to be and so that kind of makes it a very forgettable mess if you're gonna if you're gonna watch one

[00:21:25] Mom falling in love with a younger man movie this summer make it the idea of you Would you agree with that Aaron idea of you better than this movie?

[00:21:32] You don't have a mic, but what just yell here. Yeah, yes or no thumbs up or down. What's I've not seen the idea Wow good good job there That's the best

[00:21:52] Red royal blue idea is not a good movie. It's not a good great. It's all I need to hear It's one one too many Too many breakups to remember too many too many but it's a better movie than this a lot of geometry Lot of geometry better movie

[00:22:09] I'm just saying if you're gonna if they get us to say it's like hey I'm mom falling for an older famous People in this movie and that made this movie look like it would be of more interest to me than what I watched today

[00:22:20] Oh man the chemistry chemistry of those two and that and the idea of you Michael show alter directing and Anne Hathaway Yeah, and say really insane chemistry. It sounds way better. Yeah

[00:22:31] Let's get to all the feels it's where we talk about what this video gave us those feels Brian Michael show alter directing and halfway. I think it's Yeah I do have one for this one and it was he had a certain point early on

[00:22:48] He sends her out to shop for her at the grocery store at night and I love grocery shopping at night So that was my feels just grocery shopping at nighttime when it's nice and quiet. It's the best It's the best. I don't even it's the best

[00:23:06] heart rate ever been above 90 Now if I can help it do you go could go grocery shopping at night before after you kill somebody yeah Yeah

[00:23:16] That's a good question full grocery shopping at night like we like you know my wife and I go to the grocery store on Friday Oh, no morning. Yeah, like we'll play we go the grocery. No, I go a few people pop it out

[00:23:27] My yeah, I get sent to the grocery store a couple. Yeah, whatever But also I'll plan to like if I know any stuff I'll be like alright I'm gonna do that, you know tomorrow night. I'm gonna go for that stuff make it a little trip

[00:23:38] Yeah, hit a few spots put on some tunes roll down those windows clubbing the grocery store Yes Sheep drinks at Aldi we'll go to Aldi next The dollar spot the whole thing love that you never know what you're gonna find nighttime

[00:24:05] There's early on in this movie when Zach Efron still dumb Is his house is massive and he changed the code on her we can't do that So she climbs the gate and then gets to the front door and it's one of those giant doors

[00:24:21] Yeah, and her struggling with the door was the highlight of this movie for me. I thought it was very funny Let me know I've literally I Anytime I see these doors on like hctv and stuff

[00:24:33] I'm like at the idea of this doors better than the actual door itself Like I imagine there's a lot of problems with doors like that and then making fun of those doors made me happy in this movie

[00:24:43] Dano. Yeah, mine similarly is not that moment with Joey King, which is a funny moment It's when she walks in on the two of them Chokes on the grape spits the grape out hits her head falls down

[00:24:54] The the physical comedy there was off the charts her hitting. I didn't see her hitting her head Funny like legitimately well well shot well acted and then they take her to a pediatrician

[00:25:06] Like five minutes. I'm like did we just get into like some sort of screwball comedy here? And I'm here for it and then we it's gone after that as a montage of Zach Efron and They're like on the like looking out and it's like

[00:25:21] Pediatrician like asking him questions about like great. Yeah, I guess why gotta go be a doctor, you know Let's take one more quick break we'll come back. We'll get to the way what the what the homework double-decker the week on tap today as well

[00:25:47] Welcome back everybody and we're talking about a family affair from Netflix Big movie big cast big fun. I don't know stuff for the wait What it's where we already said talk about what in this movie made us go wait what Brian anything

[00:26:03] Yeah, the lack of Christmas early on I mean it was one Christmas tree for a very long time and they It turned into a little bit more Christmas later on but early on I was just like who are you trying to fool with this?

[00:26:14] This is and I wasn't even sure if it was Christmas time at first because You breeze by the tree nobody mentions it. Nobody says anything about it. So that was a little bit What the heck then Zara she didn't even really? feel bad it seemed like for for

[00:26:31] Being kind of like rude to the relationship of it I thought that maybe she should just chill out a little bit about it and I guess both sides of it

[00:26:39] I was on the other side. Oh, I know I know because they lied to her. Yeah, that's where it's weird It's a weird situation just but everybody just like grow up. Yeah Everybody as because now it's impacting her profession

[00:26:52] Yeah, so it's not like just her mom and her boss are now sleeping together whatever grow up. It's He says he won't he does that she should grow up on I agree with you But then they hide it and then yeah, she hires a rider

[00:27:04] Yes, he then hires her mom. Yeah lies. Yes doesn't let her into this event when she finds out from that point in the movie I feel like until her best friend starts giving her a hard time for not noticing that she broke up with her boyfriend

[00:27:19] I feel like Joey King really takes it on the chin in this movie and I don't think it's fair Yeah, because that hurt him giving the script to her mom. I was like, oh, yeah, oh that's things right there

[00:27:29] That's not grow up being adult. That's like by the way we found another script right? The last one I had was when she took him to the grocery store at the end Which that's seen phenomenal with those does not miss she pulled into that parking spot crooked which

[00:27:54] Drove me nuts to see happen. She didn't she was on the line. She's on the line I know and she didn't straighten it out. She just left it there on the line. You can't you can't But it is a set it's a set It is yeah, you're right

[00:28:09] You can do whatever you want But also out of respect for the person next to you but there is no person next It's a set no one's in a park next to but out of respect still when she came out though

[00:28:20] Even this was this was even worse when she came out it had been moved It was obviously a different shot and she was perfectly aligned in the middle So I guess movie magic That is a white what her not moving the car when it's on a set

[00:28:33] I don't there's I don't get why that's a problem, but are them coming back out and it being fixed That's a way what yeah Yeah, it was just bothering you bother me the beginning and then the end where I saw they clearly fixed it

[00:28:45] Yeah, yeah, that's problem. Yeah, I only have a couple one You shouldn't be able to climb gates like that it defeats the purpose It defeats the purpose of the gate to have slots big enough for your shoes to fit in so you can easily climb it

[00:28:59] Just for decoration. She had no problem climbing that gate. I think it's an ornamental if you're that famous You need a better gate. I saw an ornamental gate live Really good death metals really good Really good it's just a segment For one segment they go absolutely

[00:29:18] Yeah, nothing offensive about it though. It's an ornamental ornamental good He's got security him being able to him be able to sing like that while being inside of a giant beach ball Is really impressive because you think the air would kind of yeah, you'd think so yeah

[00:29:31] All I'm saying is is she climbed it? It's it defeats the purpose of gates if you can climb it over if you can climb over that quickly You don't think so now does not defeat purpose of gate. Why?

[00:29:41] First of all gate is ornamental. That's first of all that's part of having a lavish house Not if you're that if you're that famous second of all part of it is for security still a deterrent Even if you can climb it she climbed it willy-nilly

[00:29:52] I'm just saying the gate is primarily ornamental and then second You don't know what it's like to be that famous you don't either I don't but I but his whole thing is he doesn't go out of public He has a security system when he's like asleep

[00:30:06] He has a security system that is on that would keep someone from doing that. I think you're over you're over emphasizing the ornament This I'd like to get a look at

[00:30:19] It doesn't have to be that easy to climb is all right. I've got two that's I have one more okay, go ahead It's okay. I was conf there's okay, so she does this whole freak out at

[00:30:31] Chris and her mom and does this whole thing she goes over to a friend's house the newest host of double-dare shout out and Her friend who's been like really like she's got a nice gate. I'm sure all about 100% once you start hosting alongside Mark Summers

[00:30:51] You get a nice gate for your house I don't think I guess ever nobody knows that no Okay, you know they they did the right thing cuz it's like Mark Homer Mark Summers probably shouldn't host his show anymore Mark's but we need Mark Summers is double-dare

[00:31:06] So we need yeah, we need a new fresher host to host alongside of Mark Summers Which I thought was a really smart move on Nickelodeon's Part part what I'm trying to say is she is like oh like if she's like all like about Brand-untalk about Nickelodeon

[00:31:27] The life and slimes of Mark Summers we could have gotten sought for free Yes, it want to you guys We heard back on that You didn't tell me on purpose I did not not tell you on purpose you did I did not not I said it on purpose

[00:31:48] She's down for the drama and and all that all movie and then she goes over to her house She walks in and she's like I can't believe you didn't recognize that me and my boyfriend had broken up

[00:32:02] Ten days ago, and she's like why was over here? And he was here. She's like I didn't want to tell you that You can't you can't get mad at someone right when when you don't tell them that you've broken up

[00:32:13] You can't like by all every every metric you go over there They're still living together still together. Why would I think that you broke up? You can't be mad at me I can't get in trouble for this because you didn't tell me right now that I know

[00:32:29] I'm happy to help you here But she just like I can't believe you didn't notice that last time you were over and we were there You didn't know that we were broken up messed up man messed up man

[00:32:41] The most frustrating this movie is is that scene because all of a sudden we're just piling on this lead character like She has lost the plot of this and it's all her fault and she's a

[00:32:52] Narcissist and a maniac and it just a good like and I didn't get it. I didn't get it at all There's no reason she would have known that information. It was crazy It was just crazy and as as the new host at double dare alongside mark along

[00:33:05] She should do better. Yeah, she should do better Yeah, she should like she did with her game. Um, I just have the first one though is a big one in this movie I actually have three

[00:33:14] I do need to point out that if this guy said she could work her way up to associate producer and she did nothing But be personal assistant for two years and she quit and then this guy comes back and says I really need you back

[00:33:28] I'll make you associate producer. She should 100% not do that. This is a guy that's only Promising her a promotion because he's using her and I thought that was a weird dynamic to establish in this movie

[00:33:42] Early in the movie Zach Efron says I need you go get the stuff from my ex-girlfriend's house And he throws out some things like a shirt Underwear and then he just says my autograph Jordan's okay You have a pair of autograph Michael Jordan's

[00:33:58] Those shouldn't move from place to place if you have a pair of autograph Jordan's those should just stay Wherever you live in a case there should be a partition

[00:34:08] between people looking at those shoes and those shoes even if you were as famous as Zach Efron is and he just eludes like he I Guess they're at her house and I'm like alright. Well, that's weird then he picks the stuff up from Joey King

[00:34:23] grabs a bag and he says that the shoes are dirty so He doesn't not only does he have a pair of autograph Michael Jordan's He's wearing them and Wearing them to where they're like wearing them in dirt

[00:34:42] What no no one ask of all shoes no one would do this on planet earth No one would just wear Routinely a pair of autograph Jordan's They were autographed but I started wearing them and Stand correct

[00:35:01] And then lastly this movie underuses Christmas, I don't think the way you guys characterized it is correct I don't think what did you say? What was that was the phrase you used? It's just a movie that takes place during Christmas

[00:35:16] I think originally it was a Christmas movie and they recut it imagine if it was a full Christmas Yeah, I'm gonna add into those drip in but I mean he's supposed to be like this weird violent night Santa kind of character

[00:35:27] In this movie. There's a Christmas tree clearly All of a sudden in this movie that is underused Christmas I will grant you that on New Year's Eve. They play a 100% Christmas song like this song is you looked it up

[00:35:40] Brian it was it is the first movie the Kelsey Ballerina So Casey must KC ballerina did a cover though that was also excellent With bridges. Yes. Yeah, Casey must great. They fade out the Leon bridges part. Which is offensive. That's a fence That's tough. That's tough

[00:35:58] All movie long you haven't played any Christmas music You haven't done it You're doing a different thing and then we get to New Year's Eve and you decide I'm breaking out the full Christmas single That didn't make any sense to me. No, the confusing part is

[00:36:10] That song gets played after Christmas. Yes. That's what I'm saying Yeah, so there is one other like there's a Christmas song in the background while they're doing the Christmas stuff But they decided to break out a Christmas single After Christmas in the movie happens So yeah, there's that

[00:36:24] It's time for what the hallmark is where we wonder what could have been maybe have because I'm clear to any questions that we still have Right, what are you still wondering about pal?

[00:36:29] They did watch the ball drop for New Year's Eve and on the screen it said pre-recorded Yeah, because they're west coast right west coast best coast they say I would say It's I'm watching I'm like man. How sad is that so sad

[00:36:44] How lucky are we to live here on the beast coast? We get to watch Ryan see crest countdown in real time real time Like we hear him saying the number while he's watching it in real time. I think I think they wanted to watch the nine o'clock

[00:36:58] You think yeah, I guess they could yeah, I don't know how that works. It should be illegal It should be they should have to wait until midnight Just made me kind of like wonder people sad when they have to watch it

[00:37:07] I will say as a as a lifelong Yankee fan central coast game started at 6 p.m. Kind of nice now that's central time I think we're leaning towards central time central time absolutely Central time central time

[00:37:23] Yeah, what you guys said is 100% correct. I think central I think we would all agree central time They've got it the best Mine was One you I understand the Christmas song being your weight

[00:37:40] What it's also like I I'm mad at myself that I have not listened to the entire case. He most graves Christmas album It was a good reminder And I don't really know how that's a what the homework

[00:37:49] It's more of like a hey remind me hey Siri remind me Uh to give this album a whole listen because I really like right down please write that down I really liked the the song and I love Leon bridges and I've heard a couple of other songs

[00:38:05] From the album, but I have listened to the whole thing and so I wonder what what her is good She's got some real good. I guess I guess by what the homework is Wonder if it's good. What's up with that? What about the rest of the album?

[00:38:16] Yeah, I wonder what that album's like, huh? Uh, dino Yeah, mine really is I wonder what the original cut of this movie was and I'm not doing a bit here I do believe that this movie was supposed to come out

[00:38:27] Long before it actually did come out. It's got a lot of big names in it This felt like a re cut a reimagining of this movie And I I want to know what the original one was this

[00:38:38] Totally there's just a problem here with this movie from scene to scene and so I feel like It just went through too many Iterations and I would love to see what originally we were supposed to get

[00:38:50] Because these actors are good enough to make most movies work. So that's it. Uh, it is time for Double Decker of the week and when we dive deep into the life of one of the double decker's Brian you do that deep dive

[00:39:03] Via the google plus credentials that were passed over to you. Yeah, I got the security key Who do we have today dino? We have patty barton. Oh, yeah Patty Barton patty Barton a great double decker actually celebrating, uh, quite a milestone patty is really? Yeah

[00:39:20] She just found out the results of an obstacle course. She creates she she finished it Yeah found Like no, I got we have to we have so many things we have to cover what you just said She

[00:39:34] She just did an obstacle course. She didn't create one. She she went through it. She did not make it She she didn't find those results out immediately. No You have to you go through the course. It's it's it's tough rigorous Just like

[00:39:50] Go through the course. It's more of a zigzag. He really gotta work through and it's got it's it's The the big obstacle is what's on the ground? It's like sharp objects Like, you know like stepping on Legos. What have you? Sharp thing like not comfortable

[00:40:05] And so you get through it and the bummer is you get through you don't know if you've actually finished properly because there are different ways to finish Or if you actually did it in time because there is a deadline like a timeline for it

[00:40:18] So she got through she found out she did it correctly. So she celebrated patty. So congrats patty What is this? I like if I wanted to do it, what does it have a name or something? It does Okay Have a name

[00:40:36] Now it's due to you know the nature of it this this is called the tax evasion And she successfully completed her way through Taxivation Are you saying that patty barton That's like al Capone

[00:40:54] Committed tax fraud. No, I mean did he step on a bunch of sharp objects and make it through And within the deadline, I don't know the results of the tax evasion take so long

[00:41:02] That's a great question. They just they don't let you know until they get around to it Do with the irs or is it just that the obstacle course is taxing like no, it's like tax like stepping on thumb tax And things like that. Oh, okay

[00:41:16] Well, you said Legos tax. Yes other sharp objects like tax Okay Thumb tax if you will Wouldn't you know right away if you avoided the taxes like why I don't know why the results took that long. That's a good question. Nobody really does

[00:41:31] Why didn't she start the business? Why didn't she start like yeah? Well, she doesn't really believe in tax evasion Is the she's not a big fan It was like a family birthday party. She had to do it the family dragged along. It was a family affair

[00:41:44] So patty congrats Fantastic, uh, we're gonna be back next time another one brining. We'll be back later this week for the august preview show Everybody can look forward to that goodness until they were the first switch. She lay The brable jam podcast is produced by erin shea
