The movie kicks off with a great rendition of Deck the Halls that might be the new theme song for Deck the Hallmark. Cut to a woman driving in a car, giving herself a pep talk and talking to herself and her baby, whom she is pregnant with. Suddenly, she feels a sharp pain, drives into a town, and runs into a diner, saying she thinks she's going into labor but that the snow is really coming down. Luckily, there’s a doctor in the diner who has personally delivered over 100 babies! The birth is successful, and the baby is healthy. She names her Evie Lang. The group takes a picture to celebrate—there’s a doctor, a police officer, a lawyer, and some other fancy folks. The doctor gives the baby a little checkup and realizes the baby may have an abdominal blockage, so they all work together to get the baby to the hospital. They save the baby’s life, take up a collection to pay the hospital bill, and send them on their way.

Cut to the present day, when the mother, Elizabeth Lane, is giving a speech about the success of her skincare brand, Lane Cosmetics. Evie is now an adult, and her mom brings her up on stage to celebrate the success of women. Evie is clearly uncomfortable being on stage. She’s in fashion but isn’t having much success. Her mom tells her she’s been spoiled and needs to learn how to do something hard. So she gives her the Polaroid of the people who helped her on the night she was born. Her mom explains that Evie has to go and find these people and grant Christmas wishes to each of them. If she fails this mission, she’ll lose her trust fund.

So, Evie heads back to the town and is disappointed by the absolutely massive inn she has to stay in. She goes by the name of Mary so as not to give herself away. She decides to go and ask the only attorney in town for help finding the people in this picture. He says, “I could do that, but why would I?” She says she wants to give them an award. He replies, “That’s not what this town is all about, especially dressed like that.” So, she goes to find an outfit that’s a bit more low-key. They go and grab a bite to eat, and the diner owner tells them the story of what happened that night.

Kyle agrees to help her find the people, but they’re going to go at his pace. Up first is Roy, and Evie ends up being voluntold to be the elf in the town square. The diner owner quickly figures out who she is, and she comes clean. She asks what his wish is. At first, he’s hesitant but tells her to let him think on it. She is blown away by how nice everyone in this town is and realizes that’s going to make it hard for her to finish this project quickly.

The next day, she ends up backing out and almost hitting a police car. Turns out, that cop is someone she needs to repay, but she doesn’t want to reveal her true identity, so she ends up getting arrested. Evie is blown away by the kindness and doesn’t know how she’s going to repay them. She finds out that someone has been this town’s Secret Santa—paying hospital bills, etc., for a long time. She calls her mom, and her mom explains that she tried to repay everyone many moons ago but couldn’t do it. So, good luck, kid. It’s just your trust fund at risk.

The pressure is mounting, and what better way to deal with said pressure than by ice skating with Kyle? She decides to tell him the truth about who she is, and Kyle’s like, “Oh, yeah, I know.” But he was unaware that she was doing this just to make sure she didn’t lose her trust fund. You can tell he’s like, “Oh, boo hoo to you,” but they continue their quest, and he continues to just watch her from afar.

The diner owner is impressed by Evie, and he calls Elizabeth to encourage her to come and see all the good that Evie has been doing in the town. So, Elizabeth comes, and she’s so proud of Evie. She has done so much good. She finds out that Kyle’s dad was the one who took the picture, so she has to make his wish come true.

They have a birthday party at the diner for Evie, and she tells her mom she wants to do more of this kind of stuff with her trust fund. She asks Kyle what he wants, and he says, “I want you,” and they kiss. Everyone takes one more picture together.

[00:01:29] Oh right!

[00:01:30] The six and seven.

[00:01:31] Yeah, things you're kind of noodling on, inventions and stuff.

[00:01:34] Right!

[00:01:35] Inventions?

[00:01:35] I can't talk about those yet.

[00:01:37] Okay, sorry, sorry, sorry.

[00:01:38] Man, TM.

[00:01:38] What can you talk about?

[00:01:40] I, am I right?

[00:01:40] Yeah.

[00:01:41] I can talk about, let me see, six or seven.

[00:01:44] Thumb, index, middle, ring, pinky, that's five I got.

[00:01:49] Toes don't have names, do they?

[00:01:51] They got big toe, little toe, that's it.

[00:01:53] Pinky toe.

[00:01:53] Pinky toe, big toe.

[00:01:54] I don't think you call it little toe, do you?

[00:01:56] Pinky toe.

[00:01:57] Pinky toe.

[00:01:57] Yeah.

[00:01:57] But other than that.

[00:01:59] So it's thumb, index, middle, ring, pinky.

[00:02:03] I can't do it that way.

[00:02:05] You can't?

[00:02:06] What?

[00:02:06] I can't get that middle finger up.

[00:02:07] You can't get one, two, three.

[00:02:08] Look at me shaking.

[00:02:09] What's wrong with this finger?

[00:02:10] You have a problem.

[00:02:11] The pinky goes up at the same time, I can't do it.

[00:02:13] Really?

[00:02:14] I'm trying really hard.

[00:02:15] You pin it down.

[00:02:16] Hold it down, I still can't.

[00:02:17] You pin it down right there.

[00:02:18] Oh, that hurts.

[00:02:19] Wow!

[00:02:20] That was exhausting.

[00:02:21] I can't get it up.

[00:02:22] I didn't know that I was special.

[00:02:23] You guys are super talented.

[00:02:25] Yeah, I know.

[00:02:26] Either hand, I can't do it.

[00:02:27] We actually won awards for this.

[00:02:29] We did.

[00:02:30] Yeah, it was a really big difference.

[00:02:30] Being able to raise our ring finger without our pinky finger.

[00:02:32] It's unbelievable.

[00:02:32] Welcome everybody to the Hand Award.

[00:02:36] The Hand Award.

[00:02:37] We're big excitement here today.

[00:02:39] Everybody sit down, sit down.

[00:02:42] Up first is the...

[00:02:43] You can stop anytime you want.

[00:02:45] Up first is the Ring Finger Can You Do It Award.

[00:02:53] Mark Wahlberg.

[00:02:53] Nominated, Brandon Dan.

[00:02:55] Also nominated, the Kigsby Brothers.

[00:02:58] The Kigsby Brothers.

[00:03:00] Also nominated, Mark Wahlberg.

[00:03:02] The winner, Brandon Dan!

[00:03:05] Woo!

[00:03:06] Congrats, you guys.

[00:03:07] Thank you.

[00:03:08] I can't believe we got that clip.

[00:03:09] You got the speech part of it?

[00:03:10] No, we can't do that.

[00:03:12] We can't do that.

[00:03:13] It was a really, really good party though.

[00:03:15] Yeah.

[00:03:16] It was a really good party.

[00:03:17] I think the thing that people don't understand about the Hand Awards is that it's not all

[00:03:21] fun and games.

[00:03:22] It's serious work.

[00:03:24] To get there, it's more serious once you win because the pressure...

[00:03:28] Responsibility, yeah.

[00:03:29] It's not just for the love of the game.

[00:03:30] No, no.

[00:03:30] You got to want it.

[00:03:31] The pressure to continue to be able to do the different hand stuff that we're able

[00:03:35] to do is...

[00:03:37] And the people coming for you.

[00:03:38] It's a non-stop job.

[00:03:39] I don't know how to get through the day.

[00:03:41] I don't know.

[00:03:41] That's what I'm saying.

[00:03:42] It's crazy.

[00:03:43] Wait till you get to the foot stuff.

[00:03:44] Yeah, no kidding.

[00:03:44] I wouldn't.

[00:03:45] It's philo.tv slash DTH.

[00:03:47] For the foot stuff.

[00:03:49] Specifically for the foot stuff.

[00:03:51] During the holiday season.

[00:03:52] That's right.

[00:03:54] No, but for real, philo.tv slash DTH.

[00:03:56] It's your holiday movie hub.

[00:03:57] You won't find a better place, I think, for holiday content than philo.

[00:04:03] No.

[00:04:03] It's above and beyond.

[00:04:04] One button ad skip, unlimited DVR.

[00:04:07] Get over here.

[00:04:08] Hand over fist.

[00:04:08] That's a different award.

[00:04:09] We didn't win that one.

[00:04:11] Next year.

[00:04:12] You don't want that one.

[00:04:13] That went to JT Lozzy.

[00:04:15] Oh, Lozzy.

[00:04:16] The Loz?

[00:04:17] Yeah.

[00:04:17] Man.

[00:04:19] I want to thank God.

[00:04:20] No!

[00:04:20] Just kidding.

[00:04:22] The Lozenge?

[00:04:23] As we call it.

[00:04:24] The Lozenge.

[00:04:25] It's a little longer, but you know, it's fun.

[00:04:26] I want to thank my wife.

[00:04:27] Yep.

[00:04:28] We have us winning the ring finger raise and we have the Loz's acceptance speech.

[00:04:36] I want to thank Kool-Aid Man.

[00:04:40] Your mom and Kool-Aid Man are the two, this back to back.

[00:04:44] His wife was there and then his girlfriend showed up.

[00:04:46] It's crazy.

[00:04:47] I want to thank my girlfriend.

[00:04:48] They found out on this Facebook group.

[00:04:49] It's wild.

[00:04:51] It's crazy.

[00:04:52] Judy meets Sally.

[00:04:53] Sally meets Judy.

[00:04:55] The award winner.

[00:04:56] Hey, we're having a lot of fun here, aren't we?

[00:04:58] Are we?

[00:04:58] Christmas Movie Magic is out right now.

[00:05:00] Yeah, you can get it and you can play.

[00:05:02] We're about to see a thousand movies in one week.

[00:05:05] And so if you want to make sure that you have this game before all the Thanksgiving

[00:05:09] week movie airs, you want to go ahead and go to deckthehomer.com slash game and get it.

[00:05:14] It is a ton of fun.

[00:05:15] And I really do believe that this is a wonderful addition to your Thanksgiving week because people

[00:05:22] might be coming over, spending time with you.

[00:05:24] And this is a really fun way to throw the movies on while also keeping it like, hey,

[00:05:29] we're having fun.

[00:05:30] We're not just, I'm not just turning on a movie so I don't have to talk to you anymore.

[00:05:33] Right.

[00:05:34] Yeah.

[00:05:35] Now I am.

[00:05:36] Yeah, I am doing that, but I also, I'm putting on a movie so that I can beat you.

[00:05:39] Another level of distraction.

[00:05:41] And I think that's more, that's more fun.

[00:05:43] It's more fun to turn on a movie so that you can beat somebody than to just not talk

[00:05:47] to them anymore.

[00:05:48] So I think that's really fun.

[00:05:49] Christmas Movie Magic, keep the conversation going.

[00:05:53] We're not condoning the arguments to a minimum.

[00:05:55] Sure.

[00:05:55] We're not condoning that, but it's a lot of fun.

[00:05:58] Christmas Movie Magic is available right now.

[00:06:00] And guys, really excited about December in Greenville, South Carolina.

[00:06:06] I mean, how could you not?

[00:06:07] It's the best.

[00:06:08] It is my favorite month.

[00:06:09] Tree lighting, ice skating, the lights are up, they're up all year, but they're actually

[00:06:13] lit.

[00:06:14] It's a fun time.

[00:06:15] All of the Christmas stuff that happens in downtown Greenville is just fantastic.

[00:06:18] Come join us, will ya?

[00:06:20] Do you think Claire's Creamery is bringing back the old-

[00:06:22] I know they are.

[00:06:23] Peppermint Hot Chocolate?

[00:06:23] I know they are.

[00:06:24] Oh my gosh.

[00:06:25] The Peppermint Hot Chocolate Ice Cream at Claire's?

[00:06:27] It's the best.

[00:06:28] They're not even a sponsor.

[00:06:29] They should be.

[00:06:30] Man.

[00:06:31] The donut, the donut at Parler is delicious.

[00:06:34] Oh yeah, the Andy's bit.

[00:06:35] So they call it donut.

[00:06:36] Oh, with the white chocolate shavings.

[00:06:38] Mm-hmm.

[00:06:38] Guys, Greenville's where it's at.

[00:06:40] Mm-hmm.

[00:06:40] Where's that parade coming on?

[00:06:42] Just stay out of my way until December 7.

[00:06:43] Parade's coming on.

[00:06:43] That's why we're here.

[00:06:44] That's why we're here.

[00:06:46] Let's talk reason for the season, shall we?

[00:06:47] Reason for the season originally aired on Hallmark Mystery on November 14th, 2024, and

[00:06:52] it went a little something like this.

[00:06:54] The movie kicks off with a great rendition of Deck the Halls that I am working on getting

[00:06:58] to be the new theme song for Deck the Hallmark.

[00:07:00] Ooh.

[00:07:00] It's a really good version.

[00:07:02] It's a cut to a woman driving in her car, giving herself a pep talk and talking to herself

[00:07:07] and to her baby, whom she is pregnant with.

[00:07:10] She's with child.

[00:07:12] Suddenly, she feels a sharp pain, drives to the nearest town and runs into a diner.

[00:07:18] It's probably just gas, right?

[00:07:18] Huh?

[00:07:19] It's probably just gas.

[00:07:19] Probably just gas, yeah.

[00:07:20] You got to work through that.

[00:07:21] But she does find the nearest town, runs into the diner and says, I think I'm going into

[00:07:27] labor.

[00:07:27] And they said, well, why are you here?

[00:07:29] You're not the hospital.

[00:07:30] But luckily for her, everybody that matters is at the diner at that point in time, including

[00:07:36] the doctor.

[00:07:37] The doctor is like, I have personally delivered over 100 babies.

[00:07:41] You are in good hands.

[00:07:43] The birth is successful and the baby is healthy.

[00:07:47] She names her Evie because she was born on Christmas Evie.

[00:07:51] We all know that.

[00:07:52] And the group takes a picture to celebrate.

[00:07:57] There's a doctor.

[00:07:58] There's a police officer.

[00:07:59] There's a lawyer.

[00:08:00] And they walk into a bar.

[00:08:01] Am I right?

[00:08:03] The doctor gives the baby a little checkup and realizes that the baby may have a little

[00:08:07] bit of a domino issue, potentially gas, but we want to get that checked out as well,

[00:08:11] like mother, like daughter.

[00:08:12] And so they take her to the hospital and they save the baby's life.

[00:08:17] They take up a collection to pay for the hospital bill and give her a little money to send her

[00:08:22] on her way.

[00:08:23] Oh, it's not Christmas Eve yet.

[00:08:24] It's not.

[00:08:24] I'm sorry.

[00:08:25] It is Christmas Eve.

[00:08:25] It's Christmas Eve.

[00:08:26] That's right.

[00:08:27] And that was a new song.

[00:08:29] I got it.

[00:08:30] I'm sorry.

[00:08:31] I would listen.

[00:08:32] Oh yeah.

[00:08:33] It's late.

[00:08:33] And they send them on their way.

[00:08:35] Cut to present day.

[00:08:36] The mother, Elizabeth Lane, is giving a speech about her success.

[00:08:39] She's a billionaire.

[00:08:41] She has a skincare brand, Lane Cosmetics.

[00:08:44] And Evie is now an adult and her mom brings her on stage to embarrass her and talk about

[00:08:49] the success of all women aside from her daughter who hasn't done squad.

[00:08:54] Evie is very uncomfortable with the stage that she is on and the speech that is being

[00:08:59] given.

[00:08:59] She's in fashion or so she says, but isn't having much success.

[00:09:03] Her mom tells her that she's been spoiled and she needs to learn how to do something

[00:09:08] hard in her life for once.

[00:09:10] So she gives her a Polaroid picture that's in great shape.

[00:09:14] I believe the key there was to shake it like a Polaroid picture.

[00:09:18] But it was one.

[00:09:19] It was one.

[00:09:20] So that's why you would do it like it as if it was one because it is.

[00:09:23] A lot of people don't know that.

[00:09:25] It's like drink your Dr. Pepper Zero, like it's a Dr. Pepper Zero.

[00:09:27] I know and I will.

[00:09:31] Whoa.

[00:09:33] You asked me to do it.

[00:09:34] Can I?

[00:09:35] I would like to get my half of the money.

[00:09:37] You know how I drink.

[00:09:39] I would like to go ahead and take my half of the money.

[00:09:43] I sit next to you.

[00:09:44] I watch these movies.

[00:09:45] I drink these drinks.

[00:09:46] You know how I sound.

[00:09:47] You brought it up.

[00:09:49] Now we all know.

[00:09:50] I can't get to us.

[00:09:51] We do have a clip of that and I hate that we do, but we do.

[00:09:54] Brandon, you think Frosty's that hot?

[00:09:57] Yeah.

[00:09:58] I do.

[00:09:59] Yeah, you're right.

[00:10:00] All right.

[00:10:01] You caught me.

[00:10:02] You caught me.

[00:10:02] That is, I just was trying to be a big shot and I'm sorry.

[00:10:05] I want to thank Peter, James, John.

[00:10:08] The loss is back.

[00:10:10] The loss.

[00:10:10] He's still going.

[00:10:11] People were clamoring for the loss.

[00:10:13] Paul.

[00:10:13] This is why they call him the lozenge.

[00:10:15] Because he keeps going.

[00:10:17] Pre and post conversions.

[00:10:20] Sounds crystal clear.

[00:10:21] Wow.

[00:10:21] Great.

[00:10:22] Love that guy.

[00:10:25] He has to win.

[00:10:28] So her mom explains that Evie has to go and find all the people in this picture.

[00:10:33] Oh, that was, was that me?

[00:10:35] Is that you?

[00:10:36] Find all the people in the picture and grant Christmas.

[00:10:42] I'm rubbing off on you boys.

[00:10:44] We just rubbed so much rubbing off.

[00:10:47] Um, her mom explains that Evie has to go and find all the picture, uh, people in this

[00:10:50] picture and, uh, grant some Christmas wishes to each of them.

[00:10:54] If she fails to do this mission, she will lose her trust fund.

[00:10:59] The stakes are high.

[00:11:01] So Evie heads to the town and, uh, is disappointed by the absolutely massive end that she unfortunately

[00:11:07] has to stay in.

[00:11:09] Uh, she goes by the name Mari.

[00:11:11] So, uh, as not to give herself away.

[00:11:14] She decides to go and ask the only attorney in town for help and finding the people that

[00:11:19] are in this picture.

[00:11:20] And he says, I could do that, but why would I do that?

[00:11:23] And she says that she wants to give them an award.

[00:11:27] It's a major award.

[00:11:29] Um, he, uh, he replies, that's not what this town's about.

[00:11:35] We're not in it for awards.

[00:11:37] We're not in it for prizes.

[00:11:38] We're not in it for money, especially if you're going to come into this town dressed

[00:11:41] like that.

[00:11:43] So she goes and she finds an outfit.

[00:11:45] That's a little bit more low key and fit for the town.

[00:11:48] They go and they grab a bite to eat at the diner and the owner tells them the story of

[00:11:54] what happened that night.

[00:11:55] Go back to the beginning.

[00:11:57] Uh, Kyle agrees to help her find the people, but they're going to go at his pace.

[00:12:03] We're not in a hurry here.

[00:12:04] Up first there's Roy and Evie ends up, uh, being voluntold to be an elf at the town square

[00:12:10] to help out Roy.

[00:12:12] Um, the diner owner quickly figures out who she is and she immediately comes clean.

[00:12:18] She asks, uh, what his wish is.

[00:12:21] And at first he says it's him, but tells her, let me think about this one.

[00:12:25] Um, she's blown away by how nice everyone is in town and realizes that this is going

[00:12:29] to make it hard.

[00:12:30] These people really don't want stuff.

[00:12:33] You know, it's unbelievable.

[00:12:35] It's called poor people.

[00:12:36] Uh, the next day she ends up backing out and almost hitting a police car.

[00:12:41] Turns out that cop is somebody that she needs to repay, but she doesn't want to reveal her

[00:12:47] identity.

[00:12:47] So she says she doesn't have her license.

[00:12:49] So she ends up getting arrested.

[00:12:50] Evie is blown away once again by the kindness of the people and doesn't know how she's going

[00:12:55] to repay them all.

[00:12:57] She finds out that somebody has been this town secret Santa paying hospital bills, et

[00:13:02] cetera, for a long time.

[00:13:04] She calls her mom and she says, it's you, isn't it mom?

[00:13:07] And her mom explains that.

[00:13:08] Hey, yeah, maybe I don't know who can say, but one time I went back to this town.

[00:13:12] I tried to repay everybody many moons.

[00:13:14] I couldn't do it.

[00:13:15] So I have since you, you lucky, lucky child to go and try to do the thing that I was unable

[00:13:22] to do.

[00:13:24] And if you don't do it, the trust funds mine.

[00:13:30] The pressure is mounting.

[00:13:32] And what better way to deal with the pressure than by ice skating with Kyle.

[00:13:35] She decides to tell him the truth about who she is.

[00:13:38] And Kyle's like, oh, yeah, I know.

[00:13:40] I know who you are.

[00:13:41] Despite what a commercial break makes you want to believe he's aware.

[00:13:45] But he was unaware that she was doing it just for the trust fund money.

[00:13:49] And that was pissed, right?

[00:13:50] Yeah, well, he says, oh, boo hoo to you.

[00:13:52] But then, you know, he's like, I'm going to continue to help you.

[00:13:56] And I'm also going to watch you from afar.

[00:13:58] Wherever you are, I'm watching.

[00:14:01] The diner owner is impressed by Evie and he calls Elizabeth to encourage her to come

[00:14:06] to the town to see all the good that Evie is doing just by being here in this town.

[00:14:11] So Elizabeth comes and she's so proud of Evie.

[00:14:14] She has done so much good work.

[00:14:16] She has given the town a fire truck.

[00:14:20] She finds out that Kyle's dad was one of the people who was the person who took the picture.

[00:14:26] So she has to make his wish come true.

[00:14:29] They have a birthday party and a dinner for Evie because it's her birthday.

[00:14:33] It's Christmas Eve.

[00:14:34] And she finds out that her mom wants she tells her mom that she wants to do more of this kind of stuff with her trust fund.

[00:14:42] And a pretty genius move, I got to tell you, when your trust fund is in doubt, you should say, but I was going to use my trust fund for charity work.

[00:14:50] Because what are they going to do?

[00:14:51] Not give it to you?

[00:14:53] She asked Kyle what he wants to be repaid with.

[00:14:56] And he says, you.

[00:14:58] I mean, he says a little bit nicer, but it's basically like, I want you.

[00:15:04] And they kiss.

[00:15:05] And then everybody takes one more picture together.

[00:15:08] And then 20 years later, the whole thing starts again.

[00:15:12] And now my friends was a reason for the season.

[00:15:16] We did it.

[00:15:17] We did do it.

[00:15:18] Let's take a quick break.

[00:15:19] We'll come back.

[00:15:19] We'll break this movie down here on.

[00:15:21] Take the Hallmark.

[00:15:27] Pop quiz time.

[00:15:29] Dan, are you ready?

[00:15:30] I'm ready.

[00:15:30] Who's Canada's Prince of Christmas?

[00:15:32] That's easy.

[00:15:32] It's Tyler Shaw.

[00:15:33] How'd you know that?

[00:15:34] Because every Christmas, I get to listen to a Tyler Shaw Christmas.

[00:15:38] And he's added a single.

[00:15:39] He's added a vinyl.

[00:15:40] He's added a record.

[00:15:41] And it's a banger.

[00:15:43] He's added a vinyl.

[00:15:43] A vinyl.

[00:15:44] A red vinyl.

[00:15:45] One you have to have.

[00:15:47] I can't wait for it.

[00:15:48] Especially looking at this track list, Dana.

[00:15:50] We've got some amazing songs this year on a Tyler Shaw Christmas.

[00:15:54] We got the new track, What Christmas Means to Me.

[00:15:57] We got a marshmallow world.

[00:15:58] We got an amazing version of Silent Night.

[00:16:00] And so much throughout the way that is a ton of fun.

[00:16:04] And if you're in the Canadian region, you might be able to see him live.

[00:16:09] He's going everywhere from London, Ontario to New Brunswick.

[00:16:13] You got to check him out.

[00:16:14] And also, if you love the song, Oh Holy Night, his version with, I believe, the tenors.

[00:16:18] Unbelievable.

[00:16:19] It is amazing.

[00:16:20] And here's the thing.

[00:16:21] If you don't have a record player and you're like, can I listen to this anywhere else?

[00:16:23] Of course you can.

[00:16:24] Check out a Tyler Shaw Christmas wherever you stream music, Spotify, Apple music, wherever.

[00:16:30] It is the perfect companion to your Christmas holiday season.

[00:16:34] So give it a listen today.

[00:16:40] Welcome back, everybody.

[00:16:41] It's Reason for the Season Day.

[00:16:43] We're talking about that movie.

[00:16:45] We're also giving an update on various winners of the Hand Awards.

[00:16:51] It's really big.

[00:16:51] So we have more of those clips.

[00:16:53] Thank goodness.

[00:16:54] No, we don't have any more clips.

[00:16:55] Okay.

[00:16:55] I thought there was a Thumb War clip that we had.

[00:16:57] We have the Thumb War clip?

[00:16:58] I didn't know.

[00:16:59] You told me that.

[00:17:00] I didn't.

[00:17:02] We don't.

[00:17:03] Okay.

[00:17:03] We might.

[00:17:04] Okay.

[00:17:04] Let's get to the hot take.

[00:17:05] We're going to show exactly how we felt about this film.

[00:17:07] We do not hold back.

[00:17:08] And I will go to you, Brian.

[00:17:09] Brian, what did you think about this here movie?

[00:17:11] This was bottom three for me.

[00:17:13] And I think I gave it one peppermint mocha.

[00:17:17] And I was wrong.

[00:17:18] I was a little bit wrong.

[00:17:19] I kind of liked it a little bit.

[00:17:21] I was, I thought I'd be really bored.

[00:17:23] I don't want to interrupt Brian here, but I just want to be clear in 2023, the Kevin

[00:17:28] McGarry hockey movie, he said was going to be his favorite.

[00:17:31] And in the, in 2024, the Kevin McGarry hockey movie, he said was going to be his least favorite.

[00:17:36] It's a fool me once.

[00:17:37] So it seems as though maybe, maybe in both cases, you're a little bit off.

[00:17:43] I'm finding my middle ground.

[00:17:44] Yeah.

[00:17:45] I've gone too much.

[00:17:45] Next year.

[00:17:46] I want to get this right.

[00:17:47] Uh, I, it wasn't, it was a little quiet, a little slow.

[00:17:51] Uh, I like the individuals giving to people and places and trying to help out.

[00:17:59] I like hockey.

[00:18:00] Uh, we got a good amount of ice time.

[00:18:02] This movie doesn't like hockey though.

[00:18:03] It tries.

[00:18:05] Does it?

[00:18:05] It tries a little bit.

[00:18:07] Um, it Evie seems like a relatively good person for somebody who's been, uh, yeah,

[00:18:12] lived, everything served on a silver spoon.

[00:18:15] Um, I, I liked them together in this movie, like Taylor and McGarry.

[00:18:19] I thought they were pretty good.

[00:18:21] And I like McGarry.

[00:18:22] I think I like McGarry a lot.

[00:18:23] Kevin McGarry, like a lot more than I knew.

[00:18:25] Yeah.

[00:18:26] Like I'm finding that like you, you do Boston accent and you're good with me.

[00:18:30] I think is what I could have told you this two years ago, Brian, but I'm glad you're

[00:18:34] really, I mean, I've like, I, I mean, I haven't, I can't say I've liked everything he's done,

[00:18:37] but I like him.

[00:18:38] Um, I think in everything I've seen him in, he's a lot of fun for me.

[00:18:41] Um, and for the record, wishing for dinner with the billionaire is the most selfish wish

[00:18:47] out of any of the wishes that anybody, there's some crazy stuff in this movie, but that's

[00:18:51] up there.

[00:18:52] Yeah.

[00:18:52] So yeah, I ended up kind of liking it.

[00:18:55] Um, it's fine.

[00:18:56] This movie is fine.

[00:18:57] I, um, that's all you need to know right there.

[00:19:00] It's fine.

[00:19:01] Uh, I, uh, was that three?

[00:19:03] It's fine.

[00:19:04] It's fine.

[00:19:04] Three fines.

[00:19:05] That's how we know when you got higher.

[00:19:06] Everyone is three fine.

[00:19:07] It's three fines.

[00:19:08] No, I, um, this, I did like these two together.

[00:19:11] I thought that they had some good chemistry.

[00:19:13] Um, there's just like some things that I'm just kind of like, uh, like what I like, like

[00:19:17] the woe is me of this, of this rich billionaire is like, so like I, I even though by the end

[00:19:25] of it, uh, that was like, she was aware of, but what's she, what's she aware?

[00:19:31] No, it's just like boo, boo hoo real sad.

[00:19:35] And so that, I don't know why Hallmark continues to make movies about rich people.

[00:19:43] I, I, they just keep doing it.

[00:19:45] It's a, it's a really interesting thing to me.

[00:19:48] Um, and it's something that I just like, who's relating to this, who, who's related to

[00:19:54] this movie and being like, I get it.

[00:19:57] I've been there, uh, aside from just the general idea of helping people and not expecting anything

[00:20:03] in return.

[00:20:03] And I felt like, uh, the messaging of that, of helping somebody and not asking for anything

[00:20:10] in return was overshadowed a bit by the fact that there's a billionaire trying to repay them

[00:20:16] despite the fact that they don't want to.

[00:20:18] And not only the, is it happening now, she's already tried to repay them before and it didn't

[00:20:23] work.

[00:20:23] And so I just, I, I would have a much rather celebrated even more strongly the goodwill of

[00:20:32] this town.

[00:20:33] Um, and just stop being hit over the head with the fact that she's a billionaire.

[00:20:37] Her trust fund is in danger.

[00:20:39] Um, and that she just is a, you know, she can't tell anybody that she's rich cause people

[00:20:43] do they like her?

[00:20:44] Right.

[00:20:45] Uh, for herself.

[00:20:46] And so, yeah, I just, it was so hard to sympathize with her as someone who, uh, in

[00:20:52] contrary, I know this is going to break a lot of people's bubbles and expectation and like

[00:20:55] perception of us wide open, but we're not billionaires.

[00:20:58] And I know where I know we're doing yourself.

[00:21:01] Yeah.

[00:21:02] I know where have, we have fun here.

[00:21:04] We have, we are right.

[00:21:05] We are.

[00:21:05] Like this side of the table.

[00:21:06] Well, it's cause we have master's degrees and I don't want to bring that up.

[00:21:09] Wait, wait, wait, wait.

[00:21:10] That's good.

[00:21:11] Yeah.

[00:21:11] Somebody on the interwebs was shocked.

[00:21:13] I had a master's degree.

[00:21:14] Really?

[00:21:14] I didn't see that.

[00:21:15] We have, uh, we have a lot of, a lot of, uh, fun here.

[00:21:19] And if, and if fun was how you got paid, then we would be billionaires.

[00:21:24] That's right.

[00:21:24] We're billionaires with fun.

[00:21:26] And so in that case, I do understand where she's coming from.

[00:21:30] Where do we cash in our fun for dollars?

[00:21:32] I don't know.

[00:21:32] I haven't figured out where to bring it.

[00:21:33] And I was like, well, I know where to bring the, the, uh, the tabs on the top of the cans

[00:21:38] and get to like five cents or whatever, but I don't know where to bring the fun.

[00:21:41] And so I would like to know where that is.

[00:21:43] But yeah, overall, like as far as chemistry goes, fine.

[00:21:46] Um, as far as movie goes, fine.

[00:21:49] I just wish that they weren't billionaires.

[00:21:51] I wish they weren't.

[00:21:52] At the end of the day, I wish they weren't billionaires.

[00:21:54] I wish they weren't billionaires.

[00:21:56] Because if they weren't billionaires, I'd probably like this movie a good bit more.

[00:21:58] Um, and it's not like they're like, you can make a movie about a billionaire.

[00:22:02] It was the way in which they were just like, that's so bummer for her.

[00:22:06] And I don't feel like that.

[00:22:08] I think there, they had a good idea and they had this like, Hey, we're going to, we're

[00:22:14] going to show her that she doesn't need her money.

[00:22:16] And then at the end she gets her money and it's like, well, all right.

[00:22:20] Yeah.

[00:22:21] And I ran, first of all, when people listen to this, we're going to get a comment somewhere

[00:22:26] that is going to say they never said they were billionaires.

[00:22:28] I just want to be clear.

[00:22:29] A bit of hype.

[00:22:30] They did.

[00:22:31] Did they say billionaires?

[00:22:32] I think multiple times.

[00:22:32] Oh, okay.

[00:22:33] Okay.

[00:22:33] Multiple times.

[00:22:34] All right.

[00:22:34] I thought that.

[00:22:35] And then the more we said it, I was sitting here going, did they ever say it?

[00:22:37] And I wanted to make sure that we weren't over.

[00:22:39] She said it from the stage.

[00:22:40] Okay.

[00:22:40] So that makes this even worse.

[00:22:43] And if the billionaires was a small part of this plot, then it would be easy to overlook,

[00:22:47] but it's the whole plot.

[00:22:48] This movie is trying to sell you on the good, like the inherent goodness of capitalism.

[00:22:55] And I don't want to get political.

[00:22:56] What I'm trying to tell you is, is what is more monstrous than a billionaire looking at

[00:23:02] her daughter and going in order to get the money that you've not earned, you have

[00:23:08] to go and play games with poor people.

[00:23:11] That is listened.

[00:23:12] Brand laughs, brand chuckles.

[00:23:14] That's the actual premise of this movie.

[00:23:17] Go to this town, change your name and do bits that, that is what's going on here.

[00:23:24] And, and so the billionaire gets to watch her daughter, like dance like a monkey for her

[00:23:30] trust fund.

[00:23:30] And then these people are supposed to be wowed by gifts that are given just because someone

[00:23:36] is rich.

[00:23:36] And the thing is, this is the townspeople are split in this movie.

[00:23:40] Half of them figure it out immediately.

[00:23:42] Half of them have no clue.

[00:23:44] And I don't know which is worse.

[00:23:46] You can clearly Google this woman and find out who her daughter is.

[00:23:50] Is it worse to be that dumb?

[00:23:52] Or is it worse to know and just gaslight her into continuing along this quest and not telling

[00:23:58] her that, you know?

[00:23:59] So, and then by the time we get to the end, she just still gets all her money.

[00:24:03] Like all of these poor people who were like lower middle class and working to make ends

[00:24:09] meet.

[00:24:09] They're thrilled to see her get her inheritance.

[00:24:12] Like, like that's how the world works is we work hard and the job creators and billionaires

[00:24:18] pass all their money down and they get to keep it because they've earned it.

[00:24:21] It is a wild, wild take for a Hallmark movie.

[00:24:25] Kevin McGarry is always solid in these movies.

[00:24:27] You're not wrong.

[00:24:28] Taylor Cole is always solid in these movies.

[00:24:31] I disagree with you on hockey.

[00:24:32] We'll get there later.

[00:24:33] I was so floored by the premise of this movie that the protagonist is doing good works for

[00:24:41] a trust fund and that the lesson she learned, she still gets her trust fund.

[00:24:46] I just, that's a tough sell.

[00:24:49] There's a tough sell across the board.

[00:24:51] And, and, and I couldn't believe Hallmark did it and was kind of blown away.

[00:24:55] I, there are worse movies made this year.

[00:24:57] This is kind of the most shocking that Hallmark tried to peddle.

[00:25:00] And, and, and Bran is right.

[00:25:02] He just gave a nicer take than I did.

[00:25:04] And if, if they weren't billionaires, if this woman has this baby on Christmas Eve and just

[00:25:09] goes on to live a life, like the, the bet, like the most thankful you can be is thankful

[00:25:14] just for the like opportunity that you've been given instead of for, you know, all of this

[00:25:21] money.

[00:25:22] And so if she just goes on to live a regular life and nobody knows who she is and she comes

[00:25:26] back, she doesn't have to disguise herself because nobody knows who she is.

[00:25:29] And she gives them all these things.

[00:25:31] That's really powerful.

[00:25:33] Like that's a powerful, you know, full circle of you give with an open hand.

[00:25:38] And then you say, pay it forward.

[00:25:39] And you say, pay it forward and giving selflessly and all that's like giving should hurt.

[00:25:42] It should cost you something.

[00:25:43] That's what real giving is.

[00:25:45] That's not what this movie is.

[00:25:46] And I was, I just kind of kept waiting for the shoe to drop and them to turn and be like,

[00:25:52] what this woman is doing is terrible.

[00:25:54] What Taylor Cole is doing is terrible.

[00:25:56] And they just never, they never did it.

[00:25:58] They were like, no, this is, this is cool.

[00:26:00] This is how we do things here in America.

[00:26:02] And it was crazy.

[00:26:02] It was crazy.

[00:26:03] And I, and I did not like it.

[00:26:04] It's time for all the feels.

[00:26:06] It's where we're talking about when this movie gives feels, right?

[00:26:08] The secret Santa part.

[00:26:10] I, uh, I thought that that was really nice.

[00:26:12] The idea that every year she, the mother would send gifts for the kids.

[00:26:17] And do these little things.

[00:26:18] And I think that's a really nice thing.

[00:26:20] So that worked pretty good for me.

[00:26:22] Are you going to, you're going to buy me any of this year?

[00:26:25] Are you even thinking about that?

[00:26:26] I have been thinking about that.

[00:26:27] You've been thinking about what you're getting me.

[00:26:28] Yeah.

[00:26:29] Yeah.

[00:26:30] What do you give somebody who has it all?

[00:26:34] You know what I mean?

[00:26:35] Right.

[00:26:36] Um, after a billion dollars, well, he doesn't really care.

[00:26:39] A billion funds.

[00:26:40] He's got, which he already has.

[00:26:41] But one billion funds, two billion.

[00:26:44] That's true.

[00:26:44] If you can guarantee me, if I can have a certificate and it says this certificate is good for another

[00:26:49] billion funds, then we would.

[00:26:51] We're talking.

[00:26:51] Okay.

[00:26:52] I'm like Bruins Cardi is as good as I've got for you.

[00:26:55] So I'm probably going to take the year off from getting you a gift.

[00:26:58] Two Bruins Cardi.

[00:27:00] And inside the pocket is a certificate for a billion funds.

[00:27:03] Yes, of course.

[00:27:04] These are all ideas.

[00:27:05] These are great ideas.

[00:27:06] These are all.

[00:27:06] This is how you top yourself year after year.

[00:27:08] That's the problem with being a good gift giver.

[00:27:09] You know, you just got to keep trying to outdo yourself.

[00:27:12] It's like you're competing with yourself every year.

[00:27:14] That's one way to look at gift giving.

[00:27:16] Yeah.

[00:27:17] You said it's got to hurt.

[00:27:18] That is one way to look at gift giving.

[00:27:22] I got feels from a hockey rink that didn't have anything on it.

[00:27:26] You know, we've had a lot of bad hockey rinks so far this year where they skate and stuff.

[00:27:30] This hockey rink didn't have anything on.

[00:27:32] It was almost like it was a skating rink.

[00:27:33] Just the ice.

[00:27:34] It's just that ice.

[00:27:35] Just ice for people to skate on and play hockey.

[00:27:37] Absolutely right.

[00:27:37] And it was without goals or anything.

[00:27:39] Well, yes.

[00:27:40] But at the end of the day, it was just good to see a hockey, an ice rink that's just the ice.

[00:27:46] You know?

[00:27:46] Just for skating.

[00:27:47] We don't got to go too crazy.

[00:27:48] It's just ice.

[00:27:49] Why?

[00:27:49] Why change it?

[00:27:51] Bless you.

[00:27:52] Go ahead.

[00:27:52] Okay.

[00:27:53] I'm good.

[00:27:53] All right.

[00:27:54] Great.

[00:27:55] Seemed violent.

[00:27:55] You go ahead.

[00:27:56] Yeah.

[00:28:00] One, two, three, four.

[00:28:02] We declare a thumb war.

[00:28:04] The winner of the thumb war competition is...

[00:28:09] Calvin?

[00:28:11] JT and Calvin.

[00:28:13] JT and Calvin.

[00:28:14] Yes.

[00:28:15] Great.

[00:28:16] That was the quickest thumb war in the history.

[00:28:19] Like, they were...

[00:28:19] JT and Calvin just outclassed their opponents.

[00:28:21] So I think what you are misunderstanding there is that they won the award for the best thumb war.

[00:28:28] Yeah.

[00:28:28] It already happened.

[00:28:29] They didn't.

[00:28:29] It already happened.

[00:28:30] So the judging was just on how good a match it was?

[00:28:32] Yeah.

[00:28:33] It was real quick, man.

[00:28:34] No, well, it's just like who has...

[00:28:35] You know, who's doing it?

[00:28:36] Great.

[00:28:36] Yeah.

[00:28:36] It's like best athlete at the ESPYs, you know?

[00:28:39] No.

[00:28:40] It's not like they all compete.

[00:28:41] They've all done their competitions.

[00:28:43] Oh, I got you.

[00:28:43] And then we kind of look at it.

[00:28:44] I got you.

[00:28:45] They get to get dressed up for this.

[00:28:46] They were in different thumb war matches.

[00:28:47] Yes.

[00:28:47] I got you.

[00:28:48] Like play of the year.

[00:28:49] Yeah.

[00:28:50] Okay.

[00:28:50] Yeah.

[00:28:52] Yeah.

[00:28:52] Should we make this an event?

[00:28:53] Maybe we should.

[00:28:55] All right.

[00:28:55] Let's take a break.

[00:28:56] We'll come back.

[00:28:56] We'll get to the way what and then with the Hallmark.

[00:28:59] Kieran, take the Hallmark.

[00:29:01] Now I want to thank the Beatles.

[00:29:12] The laws is still going, huh?

[00:29:14] I want to thank...

[00:29:15] He wants to thank the Beatles.

[00:29:17] I want to thank the Rolling Stones.

[00:29:19] I want to thank Leonard Skinner.

[00:29:21] Is he going to play Leonard Skinner?

[00:29:23] Yeah, of course.

[00:29:24] Is he going to play the...

[00:29:25] I want to thank...

[00:29:26] Are they going to play music?

[00:29:27] Like play them off maybe?

[00:29:28] I want to thank the Hookah Brothers.

[00:29:30] Hookah Brothers.

[00:29:31] Hookah Bros.

[00:29:33] No, they never played them off.

[00:29:35] Wow.

[00:29:35] They never played them off.

[00:29:36] That's unbelievable.

[00:29:37] It's a 13-hour show.

[00:29:38] That's crazy.

[00:29:39] That's why we don't...

[00:29:40] Yeah.

[00:29:41] It's time for the Wait What.

[00:29:42] It's where we talk about what in this movie made us go, wait what, and I'll start with

[00:29:44] you, Brian.

[00:29:45] Yeah.

[00:29:46] Lawyer conducting private conversations that include client privilege information.

[00:29:51] Unfortunately, it can't happen in the lobby of an ice skating rink or any other

[00:29:55] public place.

[00:29:56] I don't think...

[00:29:57] He doesn't have an office at all?

[00:29:58] Like that's nuts.

[00:29:59] I think the sad part is that confidentiality, one, you can't.

[00:30:04] But then two, like he says it's his office and that is the concession area.

[00:30:09] Yes.

[00:30:10] That is...

[00:30:10] There's no...

[00:30:11] Yes.

[00:30:12] Nothing.

[00:30:12] There's not like a partition.

[00:30:14] No fax machine because all these lawyers need faxes.

[00:30:17] Like this is just...

[00:30:18] Come on.

[00:30:19] Yeah.

[00:30:19] Like maybe have like a closet in the rink, like something like that.

[00:30:23] Fine.

[00:30:24] I love the idea that it's like this is where I do my law business, but like you have

[00:30:28] to be in your own room, right?

[00:30:29] You got to.

[00:30:30] 100%.

[00:30:31] So that is just wild.

[00:30:33] Kyle was coaching the hockey game.

[00:30:36] I heard some chatter about the hockey game.

[00:30:38] Yeah.

[00:30:39] I think if you don't bring it up, you're losing your hockey card.

[00:30:41] My way went on this was...

[00:30:43] Well, the rinks are typically pretty quiet.

[00:30:46] Like it's cold in there.

[00:30:47] Like you're usually just sitting...

[00:30:48] Like Ethan's playing this year.

[00:30:49] He's playing and we're sitting there.

[00:30:50] You're just like this.

[00:30:51] Go record it.

[00:30:52] Bring it in.

[00:30:52] We're going tonight.

[00:30:54] Okay.

[00:30:54] No, he plays a game this weekend.

[00:30:58] No, you usually hear skating and stuff, but pretty much you're behind glass and like everybody's

[00:31:02] kind of sitting there quietly.

[00:31:03] The folks in the stands are like this.

[00:31:06] No one's going like...

[00:31:07] No one's cheering.

[00:31:08] No, they were way quieter than they should have been.

[00:31:10] It's too quiet is when they score the game winning goal.

[00:31:14] Way to check them.

[00:31:16] Nothing.

[00:31:16] Nice hit.

[00:31:17] Yeah.

[00:31:18] Nothing.

[00:31:18] Go ahead.

[00:31:20] I would just like to say that I think I've probably spent more hours in an ice rink than

[00:31:25] Brian ever will in my life.

[00:31:27] Wow.

[00:31:27] Very loud.

[00:31:28] Very loud.

[00:31:29] You can hear every move on the ice.

[00:31:31] Yeah.

[00:31:32] Coaches are talking.

[00:31:33] Kids in the box are talking.

[00:31:35] Parents are of course involved.

[00:31:35] It's not a quiet sport.

[00:31:38] No, I'm not saying it's quiet.

[00:31:39] I'm just saying like for...

[00:31:41] No, it's quieter than...

[00:31:43] It's not like cheering constant though.

[00:31:45] But there's not...

[00:31:45] I mean for figure scale, like a competition, yeah.

[00:31:47] Like a full house.

[00:31:49] There was like 12 people watching this hockey game.

[00:31:50] You think none of them are talking?

[00:31:52] Right.

[00:31:52] They're all still.

[00:31:54] Quietly.

[00:31:54] You should pipe in some fake noise.

[00:31:56] You think the cheering's more raucous at...

[00:31:58] I mean, I don't know.

[00:31:58] Maybe it is.

[00:31:59] But more raucous at the...

[00:32:00] I think cheering's more raucous at hockey.

[00:32:01] At the figure skating than it is at the hockey.

[00:32:03] Figure skating.

[00:32:03] Most of my ice skating practices followed or immediately preceded hockey.

[00:32:08] So I was always in an ice rink with a group of hockey players and their families.

[00:32:14] They're loud people.

[00:32:15] It's loud.

[00:32:16] Like...

[00:32:17] Dude.

[00:32:17] I also had to use the locker rooms with the hockey team next door.

[00:32:20] Like they're loud.

[00:32:21] There's never a time when it's like, oh, I can't tell if there's a hockey team next door.

[00:32:26] Yeah.

[00:32:27] That...

[00:32:27] No.

[00:32:27] The noise thing...

[00:32:28] It didn't catch me.

[00:32:29] What caught me about it was that he was coaching and there was an empty bench.

[00:32:32] Like...

[00:32:33] Yeah.

[00:32:33] You have multiple lines.

[00:32:33] You gotta change it up.

[00:32:34] Yeah.

[00:32:35] Like you got...

[00:32:35] He had no players on the bench.

[00:32:37] Like so they just...

[00:32:37] Launch it.

[00:32:38] No.

[00:32:38] Nobody's there.

[00:32:39] I'll stay out there.

[00:32:40] Get out there.

[00:32:41] It took me a second.

[00:32:42] It was so quiet that I assumed it was practice.

[00:32:45] Uh-huh.

[00:32:45] And then I saw them in their jerseys and I was like...

[00:32:48] I assumed everyone died.

[00:32:49] It was...

[00:32:49] That's how quiet it was.

[00:32:50] And then you look over and he's like coaching.

[00:32:53] You can't hear a thing.

[00:32:54] Like pin drop level quiet.

[00:32:56] Oh, it was quiet.

[00:32:57] Yeah.

[00:32:57] I wasn't...

[00:32:58] But the empty bench is what caught me the most out of that whole scene.

[00:33:01] Fair.

[00:33:02] Just not a single extra player.

[00:33:03] But imagine being at a hockey game and being able to just be like...

[00:33:06] So like...

[00:33:07] Here's what I'm thinking.

[00:33:08] Here's the thing about the whole gift thing.

[00:33:10] You know, the trust fund.

[00:33:11] Keep it down.

[00:33:12] Yeah.

[00:33:12] Keep it down, man.

[00:33:13] We're in a library.

[00:33:14] Now that we're...

[00:33:15] You agree at least somewhat on that and then he doesn't have a bench, you still stand by

[00:33:19] your hot take that they did hockey all right?

[00:33:21] They did hockey.

[00:33:22] Which they just did.

[00:33:23] It was cool.

[00:33:24] They did more...

[00:33:25] They did it well.

[00:33:26] No.

[00:33:26] I like hockey...

[00:33:28] Seeing hockey on the screen.

[00:33:29] That's all.

[00:33:29] Just skating around.

[00:33:30] I would say they probably showed off the peewee hockey in a better light than the professional

[00:33:39] minor league hockey in the movie last year.

[00:33:41] Like the kids were like coming at each other.

[00:33:44] That's a real toss up there.

[00:33:44] They don't do...

[00:33:45] I will say they don't do as much in this one.

[00:33:47] They only show a couple of kids like doing and like this.

[00:33:49] I think the minor league hockey came off better.

[00:33:51] We'd have to take that too.

[00:33:53] Yeah.

[00:33:53] Side by side.

[00:33:54] But I just...

[00:33:55] Just any time on the rink is great.

[00:33:57] Yeah.

[00:33:57] It's a good time, man.

[00:33:58] Every time.

[00:33:59] Just do it.

[00:33:59] It's a good time to relax and just get your head straight.

[00:34:02] Yeah.

[00:34:02] It's quiet.

[00:34:03] You can't meditate in there.

[00:34:04] That's right, man.

[00:34:04] And actually, when he took her skating, the rink...

[00:34:07] This did blow me away.

[00:34:08] The rink was empty.

[00:34:09] Which, Aaron, when does that ever happen?

[00:34:12] Like there's always people on the ice, the rink.

[00:34:14] Like it's never empty, right?

[00:34:17] Well, I mean, sometimes.

[00:34:18] I mean, it's his...

[00:34:20] Was it free skate time?

[00:34:21] Yes.

[00:34:21] He just skated on out there.

[00:34:22] Like it's never empty.

[00:34:24] I assume that it's his place.

[00:34:26] So they were there after hours.

[00:34:27] You think he owns the rink?

[00:34:29] He doesn't own the rink.

[00:34:30] He doesn't own the rink?

[00:34:31] They said he would...

[00:34:32] Well, they didn't say...

[00:34:32] If he does, then that would make sense.

[00:34:34] I mean, it's his office.

[00:34:36] So he does...

[00:34:37] I think he just pops a squat there.

[00:34:38] I don't know how he would have his law office there if he did not at least have some sort

[00:34:42] of ownership or stake in the rink.

[00:34:44] Yeah, I thought that was the whole joke about him having his law offices there is that he

[00:34:49] also...

[00:34:50] He owns the community center.

[00:34:51] I thought he did too.

[00:34:52] But he says that his office is there just so he doesn't have to lease an office.

[00:34:55] Yeah.

[00:34:56] He's like, I like to pass the savings on my customers.

[00:34:59] I mean, I could easily be conflating that with the Mighty Ducks TV show.

[00:35:02] Yeah.

[00:35:02] I made some assumptions.

[00:35:03] I made some assumptions.

[00:35:04] They might have to say, you can work here since you coach.

[00:35:07] My dream free skate would be to show up to the rink and it's just me and a hot guy.

[00:35:11] Never has happened.

[00:35:12] I don't think it ever will happen.

[00:35:14] Free skate is usually...

[00:35:15] When's the last time you've been to a free skate?

[00:35:16] Yeah.

[00:35:17] It's been years because it's always crowded.

[00:35:19] Get going.

[00:35:19] Yeah, they're always crowded.

[00:35:20] Well, last year I did get to skate at Ice on Main with three jokers.

[00:35:25] Empty rink.

[00:35:26] Empty rink.

[00:35:27] Pretty empty.

[00:35:28] No Kevin McGarry though.

[00:35:29] So we'll try again this year, I guess.

[00:35:31] That was a great time.

[00:35:33] That was it for me.

[00:35:33] Anything else?

[00:35:34] Okay, good.

[00:35:37] Guys, let's talk about this.

[00:35:39] Let's have a wrap session.

[00:35:41] Let's talk about the miracle of life.

[00:35:46] Oh no.

[00:35:48] It's tough time.

[00:35:49] It's tough time.

[00:35:51] And a baby was born...

[00:35:54] Brian talking about childbirth is...

[00:35:56] I can hear people unsubscribing.

[00:35:59] A baby was born on a table...

[00:36:02] On a table.

[00:36:03] In Bethlehem.

[00:36:04] Yes, in Bethlehem.

[00:36:05] But also in a diner...

[00:36:08] On a diner table.

[00:36:10] And all I'm going to say is...

[00:36:12] I hope that they got rid of the table.

[00:36:15] And it's never been something that I've had to think about.

[00:36:18] Like, hey man, I'm going to a diner.

[00:36:20] I'm going to get myself a burger.

[00:36:22] I wonder if there's ever been a baby that's been born right here on this old table.

[00:36:26] And I just hope for this...

[00:36:27] And I think everybody would be on board with this.

[00:36:29] We should get rid of the table.

[00:36:30] It just should be a rule that we all agree on as Americans.

[00:36:34] That if the miracle of life happens upon a table, we don't eat on that table.

[00:36:40] I think we should all handshake agreement.

[00:36:42] Can we handshake agree on that, everybody?

[00:36:45] Can I ask a follow-up?

[00:36:46] I don't know.

[00:36:48] I don't know.

[00:36:48] Sure, Aaron!

[00:36:49] Does this also apply to the table from Buried in Barstow with Christopher Palaha?

[00:36:55] Oh, where they have...

[00:36:56] The beginning of the miracle of life on the table.

[00:37:00] Oh, that's...

[00:37:01] Yeah, no, I...

[00:37:02] That's different.

[00:37:03] That happens in a lot of these movies that aren't Hallmark movies.

[00:37:06] Like, that's a different world altogether.

[00:37:08] I get the feeling if you go into a Waffle House, that miracles happen on most of those tables.

[00:37:14] I tend...

[00:37:15] You're not going to be able to eat.

[00:37:16] Call me a prude, but I tend to think if any portion of the miracle of life happens on

[00:37:24] dining table, we get rid of table.

[00:37:26] But again, based upon movies and some basic evidence, I bet if you went in with a CSI light

[00:37:31] on some of those, you would find...

[00:37:33] Hey, welcome to Crips!

[00:37:34] We're busting out the black light!

[00:37:36] Turn those lights off!

[00:37:37] That you would not eat in many establishments, I don't think.

[00:37:41] Let's talk about...

[00:37:42] Cool, cool, cool.

[00:37:43] It was just like a line and then...

[00:37:45] So we're still undecided, I think.

[00:37:48] We handshaked.

[00:37:49] Handshaked?

[00:37:50] Is that an award?

[00:37:51] I understand we're going to win an award next year for the best handshake.

[00:37:54] Wow.

[00:37:55] Yeah, it was a pretty monumental one.

[00:37:57] The lady who owns...

[00:37:58] Love you, mental one.

[00:38:00] The lady who owns the inn, she's talking about how stuff has kind of like...

[00:38:08] Kind of travels around the town and whatnot, and she says telephone, television, telelocal.

[00:38:14] And I kind of love that saying.

[00:38:19] I just wrote it down because I was like, I want to save this for later.

[00:38:22] But it is a literal line that made me...

[00:38:25] It took me out of the movie because I was like, why is this such a good line?

[00:38:28] And why is it in this movie?

[00:38:31] Telephone, television, telelocal.

[00:38:33] I like that.

[00:38:33] I'm going to get that tattooed on my body.

[00:38:37] And then last but not least, can I ask you guys a question?

[00:38:41] We all watched this movie, right?

[00:38:42] You regretted that.

[00:38:43] We all watched this movie.

[00:38:43] Yeah, we sure did.

[00:38:44] We all watched this movie.

[00:38:45] Yeah.

[00:38:45] There was one specific thing that I was unsure of.

[00:38:48] But do you think that Evie has a hard time meeting new people?

[00:38:54] Oh my gosh.

[00:38:55] Knowing if they like her for her or for her money?

[00:38:59] I don't know who she is.

[00:39:00] Because I know she said that exact line...

[00:39:03] Three times?

[00:39:04] Ten to twenty to thirty times.

[00:39:07] But I'm still unsure.

[00:39:08] Yeah.

[00:39:09] Yeah.

[00:39:09] I've never seen...

[00:39:11] We've watched a lot of Hallmark movies.

[00:39:13] I've never seen them repeat a line like this.

[00:39:15] She repeats that line to different people.

[00:39:18] And I sang it every time.

[00:39:19] What are we supposed to do?

[00:39:20] That's how I knew.

[00:39:21] What are we supposed to do?

[00:39:22] That's how I knew.

[00:39:23] That's how I knew that they kept saying it because I kept singing it.

[00:39:28] Why would they do that?

[00:39:28] That's unfair.

[00:39:29] Dano?

[00:39:29] It is.

[00:39:30] Yeah.

[00:39:31] Skirt at the table.

[00:39:31] Early in this movie, Kevin McGarry says something to the effect of,

[00:39:36] this sounds like some harebrained gimmick cooked up by rich people.

[00:39:41] Yes.

[00:39:41] Yes, it does.

[00:39:43] Keep going with that, Kevin.

[00:39:45] Instead of keeping going with that, what you do is you hear from Taylor herself,

[00:39:51] she says, the reason I'm doing this is because if I don't do it,

[00:39:55] I don't get my trust fund.

[00:39:57] Look, we've watched a lot of these movies,

[00:40:00] and people get mad for the dumbest reasons in these movies.

[00:40:03] And we all the time are like, there was a dumb misunderstanding,

[00:40:07] and it ruined this movie.

[00:40:09] This is a point where you deserve to be mad.

[00:40:13] Would we all agree?

[00:40:15] Yeah.

[00:40:15] This is a good one because I didn't,

[00:40:17] I felt weird after, and I couldn't figure out what it was.

[00:40:20] And I think because there was no resolution on that.

[00:40:21] Like, he didn't really react to her doing this.

[00:40:24] You are starting to fall for this girl,

[00:40:26] and then you find out she's in town under a fake name

[00:40:31] to give money to people or gifts to people as a thank you from her billionaire mom.

[00:40:37] And if she doesn't, she's going to lose her trust fund.

[00:40:41] She is not here for you at all.

[00:40:44] She's here because if she doesn't, she loses her inheritance.

[00:40:47] And your response is barely, it barely registers.

[00:40:51] It was like the first time I've seen a Hallmark,

[00:40:54] I guess this would be like the equivalent of a misunderstanding,

[00:40:56] where the misunderstander internalizes it and does nothing with it.

[00:41:01] Yeah.

[00:41:02] Yes.

[00:41:02] Just kind of takes it in and goes, huh.

[00:41:05] That's coming out at some point.

[00:41:06] And then they fall in love and live happily ever after.

[00:41:08] Like, it was wild to me.

[00:41:11] You should have some anger there.

[00:41:13] Yeah.

[00:41:13] Some basic human emotion.

[00:41:15] Yeah.

[00:41:15] But then he remembers that she said billion.

[00:41:18] And then he's like, oh, that's cool.

[00:41:19] He's like, think of yourself.

[00:41:21] Think of the future.

[00:41:22] That's right.

[00:41:23] Hold it together.

[00:41:24] Ask her for a date.

[00:41:26] I love that she yells at him when she meets him in mid-pep talk of hockey team.

[00:41:31] Like, I can't imagine anyone looking at a coach talking to their players

[00:41:37] in a closed practice and going, hey, are you Jerry?

[00:41:41] I can't, like, I've not met you.

[00:41:44] I could wait one minute or I could make everything awkward.

[00:41:48] Yeah.

[00:41:48] That's what she did.

[00:41:49] That was crazy.

[00:41:50] There's a movie, I think it's called Hearts for Christmas with Amelia Ulerup and Chris Palaha

[00:41:55] where this guy brags that he's done 100 brain surgeries.

[00:42:00] That's why you can trust him.

[00:42:02] And during the podcast of that movie, I was like, 100 is not a bad number, but it is also

[00:42:07] not a brag number.

[00:42:08] You know?

[00:42:09] Like, 100 is like you're getting your feet wet in the practice.

[00:42:12] Like, you've maybe been working for, I don't know, not a year yet.

[00:42:16] Yeah, maybe.

[00:42:16] Like, you know, you do, you know, a couple a week, whatever that is.

[00:42:20] It's most than, it's less than most people, but.

[00:42:23] That's right.

[00:42:23] It's more than most people.

[00:42:24] Yes.

[00:42:25] Less than most doctors.

[00:42:27] That's exactly right.

[00:42:28] Yes.

[00:42:28] It took me a while to get there, but I think that's exactly right.

[00:42:30] So when you look at a woman who's giving birth to her first child in a diner with no medical

[00:42:36] supplies and you go, I'm a doctor and I've done 100 of these, I don't think that is the

[00:42:42] like the brag that I think it's supposed to be.

[00:42:46] I think you have to go bigger there or it's just like a record scratch to me.

[00:42:51] It's like, you may as well say a dozen.

[00:42:53] But also like you've done 100 of them.

[00:42:55] Have you done any in a diner?

[00:42:56] Any in a diner with no like medical supplies.

[00:43:00] It's like, it's not.

[00:43:02] My point is, is if you're trying to reassure someone, you got to go big or you're not,

[00:43:06] you don't say it.

[00:43:07] Like you just go, I've done a thousand of these.

[00:43:10] I've done a lot of them.

[00:43:10] I've done countless numbers of these.

[00:43:12] When you say a hundred, that means you know how many and you're really young and like inexperienced.

[00:43:20] Like new doctors start in August, September.

[00:43:24] And that is when we have the biggest number of problems in childbirth.

[00:43:27] Like that is a statistical fact.

[00:43:29] So if you're early enough to know how many you have, then that's a problem.

[00:43:36] That's a big problem.

[00:43:38] I've done a hundred and I have a pretty good success rate.

[00:43:40] Yeah.

[00:43:41] 87%.

[00:43:41] Most are still with us.

[00:43:42] I have to talk about one line and one character line first.

[00:43:47] The mom says that my success has impacted my daughter more than myself.

[00:43:51] And I swam in that line for a while because I don't know how you can extricate one from the other.

[00:43:57] Like saying that my success has impacted my daughter is inherently saying that you've impacted your daughter.

[00:44:05] Like that's you.

[00:44:07] My success has impacted my daughter more than myself.

[00:44:11] Maybe she's benefited more than the mother is what she means.

[00:44:15] But impact like that's, that's all part of the mother gig.

[00:44:19] Like that's part of the deed.

[00:44:21] Like you take on a lot of your parents identity.

[00:44:24] I like that was weird, but I'm most angry at our police officer.

[00:44:28] I can't describe to you.

[00:44:31] I mean, you guys have all ridden in a car with me.

[00:44:33] I was twitching at the idea of Taylor Cole in a private parking lot who has hit no one with her car,

[00:44:42] has literally broken no law, having lights turned on by the police officer,

[00:44:48] the police officer coming to the window saying you didn't check your rear view mirrors.

[00:44:54] You were on your phone.

[00:44:57] And then you don't have your license.

[00:44:58] I'm taking you to jail.

[00:45:00] Lady, she doesn't have to have any of that until she's out of a private parking lot.

[00:45:06] A police officer cannot show up in our parking lot out front and talk about how we're backing out of a parking space.

[00:45:13] That's not your job.

[00:45:14] That's not protecting or serving.

[00:45:16] You can't do that.

[00:45:18] I also was surprised when she got arrested.

[00:45:22] Because when you say you have a three strike policy,

[00:45:26] you assume after three strikes is ticket, right?

[00:45:29] Like two strikes.

[00:45:30] I'm not going to give you anything.

[00:45:32] Three strikes, skipping ticket, go straight to jail.

[00:45:36] How about, and let's mean the middle here.

[00:45:39] How about you don't give me any strikes and you just give me ticket?

[00:45:42] I would prefer that over the three strikes straight to jail policy, personally.

[00:45:48] I don't call me crazy, but I would rather just have the ticket versus three strikes and go to jail.

[00:45:55] Right?

[00:45:56] But also, like private parking lot.

[00:46:01] The most that police officer is going to do is look at you like you weren't looking while you were backing up.

[00:46:05] Give you a stern look.

[00:46:06] Because they don't have any jurisdiction.

[00:46:09] I couldn't believe it.

[00:46:10] I was like...

[00:46:11] What about all the drugs she had in the trunk?

[00:46:13] That's true.

[00:46:13] Now, yeah, but did she suspect drugs?

[00:46:15] If not, the police officer still can't do anything.

[00:46:17] No.

[00:46:19] It's time for what the hallmark is where we wonder what could have been.

[00:46:22] Maybe have a good sort of clarity.

[00:46:22] Any questions that we still have?

[00:46:23] What are we still wondering about, Brian?

[00:46:25] What if she had the drugs on her nose?

[00:46:26] Yeah.

[00:46:27] Well, no.

[00:46:28] Still, the police officer has no business getting out of the car and going to the window.

[00:46:32] I'm serious.

[00:46:33] Three strikes?

[00:46:34] I'll be a defense attorney.

[00:46:35] It's a three strikes rule.

[00:46:37] You don't know about the town's three strike rule.

[00:46:38] Three strikes and you're jailed.

[00:46:40] Yes.

[00:46:40] What if she didn't even offer the cop some of the drugs?

[00:46:44] I mean, you're being rude at that point.

[00:46:46] If the cop and her were in a social setting and the cop asked for drugs and she did not

[00:46:51] offer anything, yeah, arrest her.

[00:46:53] Straight to jail.

[00:46:54] Straight to jail.

[00:46:54] My big question really was when she says like me for me twice, what am I supposed to

[00:46:59] do?

[00:47:00] And then she said it again and the song is just in your head the whole movie.

[00:47:04] Like, what are you, what do you expect us to do?

[00:47:07] Nobody in this movie thought we're going to get this song stuck in everybody's head.

[00:47:12] And did they even try to get that song?

[00:47:14] Did they even try to get it?

[00:47:15] It was really distracting.

[00:47:16] Kevin McGarry could have been on the harmonica.

[00:47:18] Oh, it would have been great.

[00:47:20] So that just, it really was a funny thing about this movie that they kept saying that

[00:47:25] and the movie, the song was just in my head the whole movie.

[00:47:27] And did they even think about that?

[00:47:30] Yeah, that's fair.

[00:47:31] That's fair.

[00:47:32] Yeah, I mean, I guess since she does get her money, does, I mean, she says, I want to

[00:47:38] do this thing and I want you to come along and I want to help people.

[00:47:41] You know, that's nice.

[00:47:42] So does she do it?

[00:47:44] She is not in the defensive mom.

[00:47:47] She has not done anything and stuck with it.

[00:47:50] Yeah.

[00:47:51] And so does she actually stick with this thing of going around towns and helping and giving

[00:47:57] money to people and whatnot?

[00:47:58] It's still funny to me that the mom's like, she's not stuck with anything.

[00:48:01] I wonder how she does with the pores.

[00:48:04] I wonder how she does if she has to like anonymously give to the pores.

[00:48:09] But it's also like, she's not going to make it a day out there with a hardworking American.

[00:48:13] That's right.

[00:48:13] She'll never make it.

[00:48:15] She'll never make it with the people.

[00:48:17] Those peasants.

[00:48:18] Yeah, no.

[00:48:19] I want to know how good Kevin McGarry's hockey team is.

[00:48:22] It doesn't seem like, it seems like they practice twice a week.

[00:48:25] He puts in a minimal amount of work.

[00:48:27] Those kids look like they're teenagers.

[00:48:28] It doesn't look like they're five and six year olds where you would practice once a week

[00:48:31] or something.

[00:48:32] Looks like a legit, serious hockey situation.

[00:48:35] Are they any good?

[00:48:37] Is anybody putting in the time?

[00:48:38] That's all I'm saying.

[00:48:39] There you go.

[00:48:39] Good question.

[00:48:40] Everybody, congratulations.

[00:48:42] We're back tomorrow.

[00:48:43] The Netflix crew's coming in tomorrow.

[00:48:46] Hot Frosty.

[00:48:46] Hot Frosty.

[00:48:47] It's going to be a big one.

[00:48:48] And then Brian, we'll bring you back in.

[00:48:50] We'll bring you back in on Tuesday.

[00:48:51] We'll give you some more Hallmark movies.

[00:48:53] Until then, may we be the first to wish you a Merry Christmas.

[00:49:32] I mean, you're listening to me.

[00:49:33] Hi.

[00:49:34] But here they come.

[00:49:35] I promise they're coming.

[00:49:36] Yep.

[00:49:36] Here they are.

[00:49:38] Happy day.

[00:49:38] Bye.

[00:49:39] Bye.
