BRAN’S A SCOTTISH CHRISTMAS SECRET SYNOPSIS

We meet book publisher Tiffany, who is having a tough go of it. Her bestselling author, Nathan McAllister, has disappeared to Scotland, where he has taken a job as a ski instructor and is considering quitting writing altogether, despite the fact that his fans are waiting for the final book in his super popular love-mystery series.

Tiffany hatches a plan: send her sister Sophie to Scotland, hire Nathan to be her ski instructor, get close to him, and help him finish his book.

She gets to Scotland and the cabin isn’t quite what she’s used to. Then she gets to the slopes and literally runs into Nathan. They start hanging out, and he shows her around town. He opens up about his past — how he was adopted and grew up in a castle — and about how he’s thinking of not writing anymore. She starts to feel guilty about not telling him why she’s really there.

They have a romantic evening together looking at Christmas lights, but call it a night before they end up kissing. She’s about to tell him the truth, but then he tells her that he’s started writing again.

Later, she’s talking to her sister on the phone and says, “I have to tell him who I really am.” Nathan overhears this and demands she come clean. It does not go well. He says, “There’s nothing you can say that will justify what you’ve done, and I never want to see you again. Consider the book DEAD!” Honestly, worst possible outcome.

She goes to leave, but has to come back to get her nephew’s phone. She makes it in time for a party, and Nathan asks her to stay. She apologizes, and they dance and kissssss.

One year later, they’re spending Christmas together as a married couple, his book is a bestseller, a movie is in production, and he’s starting his own publishing imprint.

[00:00:02] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast Hi, I'm Bran and I love Scottish Christmas movies I'm Dan and I despise Scottish Christmas movies I'm Alonzo and this is the Haggis of Christmas Movies And this is Deck The Hallmark Podcast Deck The Hallmark gets his podcast And friends host his podcast

[00:00:31] We hope you like this jolly podcast Hello everybody It's great to be here today We're going to head to Scotland They can't all be John R. Harper joints You know what I mean? 100% We wish they could but they cannot Yes, this is a Scottish Christmas Secret One of many One of many There's lots of secrets The Scottish Christmas So many

[00:01:00] Lots of secrets over there Also, of note Dan, this is a Nicely Entertainment flick We did a lot of Nicely movies When we were covering Up TV Back in 2025 Scottish Christmas Secret did not make that cut On Up TV Wow Nicely didn't Now Up didn't acquire it Maybe Up didn't want to do all Only Nicely movies They did I mean I don't want to spoil a hot take But I don't even know if this would clear up Spar or not

[00:01:31] Dan We watched that Christian musical We watched that military movie The military one was very bad This is This is on par with the military one No Yes No No, this movie's trash It's so bad I don't disagree that it's trash I think qualitatively it's on par with it You need to go back and watch that military movie They're both terrible, Bran They are both bad movies The Christian musical's real bad too But in a different way

[00:02:00] This to me looked like all other Nicely movies I've seen Oh no They pass visually as a made for TV movie Yeah, you know You see that digital snow under the credits And you're like Nicely Nicely Nicely There they are Nicely done But you know what The Nicely folks have been very kind to us over the years So Shout out Nicely Shout out to Nicely Yeah I'll be We'll be Nicely to you If you'll be Nicely to us That's right Alonzo, how are you? Hey, how the heck are you?

[00:02:29] I'm the heck fine Thanks Fantastic Yeah, things are good You know, the summer movie season is totally happening now And so, yeah I just have so many blockbusters in my calendar Now, I want to know what goes through your head Because you Dan, you and I for our job Watch movies like this All the time Almost exclusively Yes Like this type of movie

[00:02:57] This is like the outlier To what you You typically watch real movies for work And then Sure You watch one of these You pop on a Scottish Christmas secret That's right Yes That we know of You might pop it on Well, remember that one? Yeah He was like, I've seen half of this already I started it The stuck on Christmas Stuck on Christmas Yeah Look, again I have a Christmas movie minute to do during the holidays It's work It's work But in late May Yes

[00:03:26] When you have to Okay, it's time Here we go Does it take you a minute to get in the right headspace? What's your process? Can I ask you that? It's Mortal Mandalorian Marvel time You know, look I turn one of these babies on And there's something about Like the very bright lighting And the sort of Canned, tinny Fair use You know, like A Christmas carol Being plunked out on a synthesizer And I'm just immediately I know exactly where I am

[00:03:56] And what I'm doing I don't need to segue into it in any way I'm just like Oh, this is it Okay We're in this mode now What do you got? Whereas with summer blockbusters You're like We're all still falling to the bottom Like you don't It could be Like it always can be worse Which is like It can be I Since we're doing this For blockbuster season I know they make you You just tromp out to all of these Big screens To see these movies on What is your preferred

[00:04:25] Action movie screen? Do you have a screen That you're like This is my preferred theater? You know There's a couple That I really like Very often Like they It depends Like sometimes We'll go on the lot Which is Can be a pain For parking or whatever But like the The big theater On the Paramount lot For instance Is beautiful And great sound Great picture Like it's a really You know A plus venue And then if they're going to send us You know

[00:04:54] To see it in a commercial theater I know it's a It's a vote of confidence When they either send us To the Universal City Walk IMAX house That's Nolan's Your buddy Nolan's Favorite place Or the The big IMAX house At the AMC Burbank 16 Okay Oh out in Burbank When they send us To AMC Burbank And they're showing it In house 8 I'm like Oh Okay We don't believe We don't believe In this movie Lee Cronin's The mummy

[00:05:24] Nolan sits in the same Exact seat In that theater Which has like 500 seats Like You don't say He sits in the same seat At the Universal City Walk Yeah Crazy Also Before we dive into this I do want to discuss Something really quick I heard through The Great Prime Alonzo That when Dan Was out in LA You brought his wife Into your kitchen To show the stove Without first cleaning You put it on a linoleum knife Brian heard it It's come back around So let me ask you this What were you thinking Look

[00:05:54] I'm I'm a believer In hospitality The guest says I want to see your stove I'm not gonna What am I gonna Body checker Sorry no It's a mess in there None may enter the kitchen Honestly I can't I couldn't believe That when I heard it My kids had a birthday party Last weekend And Brian showed up With his kids And immediately came to me And goes I was just listening To the lame knife You've gotta hear this Oh fantastic Would have thought Nothing of it I think Dave I just figured She was gonna focus

[00:06:23] On the stove And she did Yeah I think Dave Has probably thought About it more than The rest of us combined Always Yes He's all constantly Worry about that Next time I'm out there If I ask to see the stove Just politely say no Do I get to see it You forget it No Alright Fair enough I know what your intent is No we walked My intent is to sneak pictures Of the dirty kitchen We walked from Griffith Park All the way up to the observatory A really tough Like a hike Like directly up That's a hike Yeah Yeah And we talked about Your kitchen the whole time

[00:06:55] There was enough to talk about We were just like Yeah Did you Did you do the part Where you're above The Hollywood sign We went No To the observatory Ah okay Because if you If you go up From the observatory There's this There's a great path That's It's a long one But you actually Get to look down That's cool No we Ours was about 2.7 miles But I would say Half of it is like 30% Like it's You know It's like straight up Which was fun I enjoyed it Yeah Alright let's talk Scottish A Scottish family Yes

[00:07:24] Singawi It originally Premiered on various Streamers on November 1st 2025 And it went a little Something like this We meet book publisher Tiffany Who is having A tough go of it See her Best selling author Nathan McAllister Has disappeared to Scotland Where he has taken a job As a ski instructor And is considering Quitting being A best selling author Despite the fact that Fans are waiting

[00:07:53] For the final book In his super popular Love mystery book series The stakes are high here folks It's called what What's that series called I don't remember I don't think it was in there Okay Tiffany hatches a plan Send her sister Sophie To Scotland To hire Nathan To be Her ski instructor Wait you got it backwards Do I? Sophie is the publisher Tiffany is the sister Who goes to Scotland Tiffany goes And she changes her name And she gets there Okay Yeah Great

[00:08:23] Well then I might be wrong In the rest of the synopsis So I Hide to be the ski instructor Get up close with him Try to get him to finish the book You'll be good So she gets to Scotland And the cabin Isn't quite What she's used to Okay You gotta make your own heat And stuff She gets to the slopes Literally runs into Nathan They start hanging out He shows her around town He opens up about his past How he was adopted

[00:08:53] Grew up in a castle There's mystery That I just didn't care about So I didn't put it in here And he is thinking That he doesn't want to write anymore She starts to feel guilty About not telling him Who she is And why she's really there They have a romantic evening together Looking at Christmas lights But call it a night Before they end up kissing Of course She's about to tell him the truth But he tells her After that romantic evening I'm writing again I'm inspired

[00:09:22] So that you can't tell She's talking with her sister On the phone And says I have to tell him Who I really am He overhears this And demands Tell me who you really are It does not go well He says There's nothing you can say That will justify What you've done And I never want to see you again And consider the book Dead Dead

[00:09:52] Worst possible outcome For her She goes to leave But has to come back To get her nephew's phone She makes it Back in time for a party Where Nathan asks her To stay She apologizes They dance They kiss One year later They're spending Christmas together As a married couple His book is a best seller The movie is in production And he is starting His own publishing imprint And that my friends Was

[00:10:22] A Scottish Christmas secret What did you say? Did I say family? You said family You did It honestly is a family secret though So It's more family than Scottish In all honesty Or Christmas Yeah Alright let's take a break We'll come back We'll break this movie down here on Deck the Hallmark Deck the Hallmark We're back Hi everybody Welcome We're talking about

[00:10:51] A Scottish Christmas secret Today We're starting With the hot takes We're sure exactly How we felt about this movie We're not gonna hold back We already Shared a little bit of it But Alonzo What did you think Of this movie? Should it have remained A secret? Yes Some secrets Should not be shared You left out A whole chunk That I didn't blame you For leaving out Because the movie Telegraphs it With such clunking Lack of subtlety But basically We know the whole time

[00:11:20] That Nathan's gonna turn out To be the Duke That you know That His mom died in childbirth But he never bothered To ask a single question About her Ever And it wasn't until Tiffany Who's passing as Rose Brings it up That he even thinks about it And then it turns out Wouldn't you know He was the heir To the throne All along Bah bah bah bah This movie's Terrible It You know We do this once a week I'm usually able

[00:11:50] To glean Some kind of pleasure Out of a performance Out of a Christmas feel There's some snow In this movie I'll give him that But that's about it This is Real Real bad Yeah I'm with you Well that's that Because last time Remember Last time we went to Scotland Or wherever it was Oh yeah Alonzo really liked the movie That was weird I did say This is bad

[00:12:20] I didn't I did enjoy it I did enjoy Unbelievable What What Dan Give me For my money And my time Give me Ebony's Christmas Carol Over this I said it Well Under what criteria Under good time Well Just for my time If I have to watch a movie For my time Yes Give me Ebony's Christmas Carol Alright Great For my time Got it Because that's really fun It was a very fun movie Oh that's why Yeah

[00:12:49] It's 75 minutes long It's got some doozies in there And then it is You know It's a John Hart Harper Right What more can we ask for I love that guy Yeah They The whole cast basically Shared that reel Nice He was really thankful He also answered some questions For us about how he makes movies Yeah That's all about what the hallmarks Are answered Yeah so Really I don't think I don't know if the director Of Scottish Family Or Chris Miss Secret Is going to do the same I don't think it is But Yeah

[00:13:19] I enjoy Like I enjoyed this enough Okay It is It is not It's not a particular good But You know My It's May It's May I'm desperate Please like me Please like me Please clap It's that pre-memorial day Just like He's jonesing Post-memorial day Just a taste The secret will do it That'll get me by Just a little bit Just a little something Something It's going to be Leon day Any day now

[00:13:48] I don't care if he's the duke Just give me the Give me the goods Yes 100% I am who I am Oh man No No It doesn't You should I am Dan Yeah this movie is really bad I In fact this movie falls in that category Where I'm just sad Like I'm just like I felt just really sad for Pretty much everyone involved That isn't Alex Trumbull I think Alex Trumbull Who is the lead He's in some stuff We've seen Hats off to love Yeah what's Trumbull doing here

[00:14:18] Yeah I don't He's from Minnesota He's a Minnesotan actor Who got roped into Scottish Christmas Secret maybe for a check I don't know He and Patsy Kensett Are overqualified for this Yeah I just The movie The secret isn't Scottish really I guess the Duke one is But the one about her not being Who she says she is Is not Scottish at all I guess I could also say Since somebody needs to say Something positive about this movie Aside from yeah it worked for me Is that

[00:14:46] This idea isn't a bad one For a fake You know what I mean Like the idea of Like a George R.R. Martin But instead a handsome Hallmark hunk But like basically like This guy needs to finish this book And he And they've done it before But like This is a movie that could work Like on paper It could work He's in Scotland And you gotta go You like the secret I didn't like the secret But the idea that you have to Pretend to be somebody In order to get this guy To start writing again I mean it could work Yeah that's good

[00:15:16] But make no mistake This movie is an Absolute slog And Most of the actors On screen I felt My heart actually Just felt bad for them That this was the attempt That was being given It was a tough watch And it was A lot of wincing A lot of cringing And not in a fun Cringy humor Kind of way Just in a Man This is I mean like I just To go any further I think would be Unfortunately mean I just thought It was very very

[00:15:45] It was a tough watch Let me Let me try to see If I can find The list of Nicely movies From up And then you can Tell me If any of them Are The Soldier movie Is a really Really bad That wasn't Nicely though Oh okay Alright That movie is Yeah I think the three Nicelys Are The Great Christmas Snow And that's Joey Lawrence Boy that's The magnanimous Moment Yeah That movie's Better than this One on the cards It's not a knockout

[00:16:14] It goes to the cards And it is better I think that To Don't work But I appreciate And another good idea For a movie A romance author Stuck in this place And then they're dreaming She's dreaming In her movie In her book About this other guy That's stuck in there In the romance novel That's a fun idea It just sucks Yeah Saving the Christmas ranch Better than this movie Of course

[00:16:44] 100% better than this movie Christmas in Amish country Better than this movie But not by a lot I think that's the closest But this movie's worse I think they picked The three right ones Yes Over on TV This movie I stand by my statement There you go This movie does not Did not clear the up bar From nicely From nicely That's right From other production companies Maybe The bar changes This was not Yes Not a leak Okay Let's get to all the feels Okay Alonzo My feels was

[00:17:13] I was thinking about Jennifer Coolidge Oh There is this really Hilarious Groundling show They haven't done it In LA in a while But it was called Beverly Wynwood Presents the Actors Showcase And all these Different people From Groundlings They would rotate In and out of the show But the premise Was that they were Terrible acting students Who were putting on Scenes from plays In the hopes of Getting like an agent You've talked about This show before Because it sounds fantastic Casting directors Yeah It's hysterical So the showstopper The last one They would do

[00:17:43] That always Like the first time I saw it I thought I was gonna Just puke I was laughing so hard It's The set up is They're doing the big scene From the glass menagerie Between Laura And the gentleman caller Laura is one of The bad acting students The gentleman caller Is a seasoned professional Just as the scene begins The actress playing Laura Runs off stage And you can hear her Like hurling You know In the wings And a voice says The role of Laura Will now be played By the actress's mother Fern Magnon

[00:18:13] And out comes Jennifer Coolidge Wearing this like Cream skirt Suit You know She's trying to like Kneel down next to The little glass animals These are my glass menagerie You know Just like Ridiculous And at one point Like when She has to tell The gentleman caller I'm just a young girl And I thought about that A lot while watching Guys Do you want to explain

[00:18:42] Anything further Or are you good? Our lead is the same age As Alonzo Duraldi And there's nothing Wrong with that I'm not being Alonzo's Look at him Look at him I mean What a guy Do you want to refresh? That's right Yes And Alex Trumbull Is the age of like An Andrew Walker Basically Yeah But it was Yeah That's a great That's a great feels Alonzo And you really did You took as high a road As you could have taken there The Christmas

[00:19:13] Rope Ropes course You know the one You know the one Yeah You've seen me pass On ropes course I've said no Yeah I'm good And that's With a beautiful view Yeah I think at Christmas time I could get tucked into it Not at the heights We were at No Not at those heights But if I get beautiful Christmas lights Along the way Leading to a beautiful Like Christmas day Yeah I might Ropes course I'm probably out on ropes course

[00:19:42] Unless in this specific situation In Scotland And then I would maybe say yes I bet there's a lot of stuff That you would never do But if somebody puts Christmas on it You're like Okay Okay 100% No way A Christmas casserole Buddy the elf What's a Christmas cram Dan Any feels I mean You know I think there's a chance They never went to Scotland I think there's an outside chance That this movie Has no Scotland in it And that The idea of that Can Scotland sue? The idea of that Does give me

[00:20:12] Some really great Feels Of like We don't care Like the one guy There's two people That I do think Are from Scotland In the movie There's one guy Doing an accent That I don't think He's from Scotland But maybe I'm wrong But I think there's At least a chance They never went to Scotland And that does make me happy To think about them Making this movie And calling it that And just being like Nah it's Scotland I definitely don't think The inside of the castle And the outside of the castle Match No No way IMDB says Country of Origins United Kingdom So

[00:20:42] Okay That's Scotland Yeah So You know They didn't get specific With it But Sometimes Sometimes IMDB Gets too specific With location I'm like I don't need all this And sometimes United Kingdom That's all UK Alright let's take a break We'll come back We'll get to the way What's Scotland Ireland Northern Ireland Only Northern Ireland Not Wales England You get it The rest France France Is not Lichtenstein

[00:21:12] There we go Is not Yeah yeah I'll take a break I'll read A book And then we'll Be back here On day No Hi everyone And I know Throughout that entire First segment All you are wondering Is what did Alonzo's kitchen Look like Yeah No kidding From what I've heard From Sarah Yeah

[00:21:42] Yeah I mean listen You know what You actually cook stuff And then you know The things start piling up Unbelievable And you try and clean as you go But sometimes You can't time it out that way And we don't have a dishwasher By the way Yeah Yeah And also I just want to be very clear We're having a lot of fun here We'll continue to Over the next One to ten years But it wasn't That bad at all No No If it had been that bad I would have been like Oh sorry What stove I don't know You're talking about Yeah the stove Never heard of her Yeah I can't imagine you

[00:22:11] Showing somebody A kitchen that You didn't think You weren't comfortable Showing Yeah I mean like Yeah There were some Piled up things But it wasn't like There were You know Big splats on the wall Or something crazy No No Let's get to the Wait what We're talking about What did this movement Is going what I'll start with you Alonzo Well you know The thing about Our leading lady And it made me think About an idea For a better version Of this She is playing it

[00:22:40] Like she's the villain Yeah Like there is so much About this character As presented That it's like She is the woman That gets dumped In favor of the Small town bookstore Owner Because she's so city And so like With that big The chunky highlights And the inability To start a fire And like All of the stuff That we usually see Attributed to Like city girl Who's gonna lose Her man But no She is our lead She's the lead And that's That's how we're

[00:23:10] Doing it You know And so And also the idea That she is You know There's a lot Of glamour Going on there And so To have her be Oh this is the sister Who's in the background Who doesn't interact With the public Because she's running The publishing house Behind the scenes It's like Could we throw A pair of glasses On her for two minutes At least They share a lot Of a face They are very similar For one to be

[00:23:39] Behind the scenes Yeah Exactly So I didn't I didn't buy that For a second But again The sister Played by Patsy Kensett You know Legend She was married To you know One of the Gallagher brothers For a while And you know Is it the one That brought to Watermelons Ah Different Gallagher The Oasis Gallagher Ah Not the one No hammers Or watermelons In this case No That's unfortunate No splash zone Yeah You know Okay The beginning Patsy Kensett Is saddled with the line He's on page 56

[00:24:09] He's almost halfway there Oh my god Ma'am In what universe For a screenplay maybe Maybe But for a novel No No No The great American 130 page novel Yeah Also Writers You know I want to live in Yeah Writers are like Cranking out copy And then taking out stuff You don't know what page You're on No You don't know If you're gonna go back And throw out An entire chapter Or something Yeah Exactly

[00:24:39] That's No Also That's how we always Asked for updates When we were writing our book We were like Specifically What page What page What page What page Also Patsy Kensett Early on Is making cookies Her kid Comes in the In the Kitchen Grabs a cookie Off of the cookie sheet She is just taken out of the oven That cookie is Ice cold And completely firm That's where they keep the cookies Exactly It's not an oven

[00:25:09] It's a giant cookie Put the cookie down It's a big cookie jar That's right It's a giant Double racked Cookie jar Great idea really Who needs an oven Cookie jar This movie Gives us A Scottish You know Duke In training Who has an American Accent Yeah man And Sisters One of whom Has a British accent And one of whom Has a US accent Yeah There's a lot Happening there Points don't matter

[00:25:39] Okay So we know That we're gonna get The moment In a movie like this Where the lady Is gonna come in In a gown And the guy Is gonna look at her Draw a gape And realize Oh man It's her Her big reveal dress Looks like She is the hostess At a Disney World Old West saloon Not the performer's fault But the costumer Well I will just say this Alonzo

[00:26:08] Don't yuck his yum If that's what Gets him going Maybe he texted her beforehand This is true Maybe he's got a thing For Miss Kitty From Gunsville I don't know You don't know Put that in the script And then at the end Of the movie She's got another Red dress on Earlier he's just Watching Gunsmoke And she walks in He's like Nothing I'm not doing anything Nothing It's a show Everybody watches it It's just normal Everyone

[00:26:37] And then And then at the end Of the movie She's wearing This sort of thing That I thought It's oh it's Caesar's wife Like it looks Like a toga It's So yeah Whoever's picking Out these outfits For her If we found out The actor picked Out her own outfits What would you say then? Well then ma'am That's on you There is No way That this guy Has published Two hugely Popular Entries In a trilogy That's right

[00:27:06] And not At least Submitted an Outline For the third one That's right Like You know Probably from the get-go It's like If you're announcing This is a trilogy The third book Doesn't just happen Along the way Like you You have at least Some semblance Of where this story Is going And it's just a matter Of filling in the blank And if you aren't Going to do it I'm sure the publishing House will find Somebody else To do it For you But this movie Makes it sound like Nope He has to still Make this whole thing From a whole cloth

[00:27:36] After having done The first two parts Just winging it He's winging it Love this line At some point It stopped becoming About the book And started becoming About us Amen That's a Take one special Started being Started being real And then Finally The whole thing Where the Duke You know Wants to keep His dead sister's Child close

[00:28:04] Until the dead sister's Child wants to move To Los Angeles At which point He's like Yeah sure Yeah absolutely Go for it Why not It's LA Maybe you'll lose Your accent While you're there I'm gonna live once Yeah I got a few One I did like That the Genre that he writes Is just Love mystery Love mystery That's what it's Described as Love mystery Baby Love mystery Baby

[00:28:33] Naming a character Lackey Feels offensive It doesn't Feel right That was his Actual name It's not like A lackey I did find it Interesting That when So she I didn't really Talk about this But she goes On this trip With her nephew Yeah Her nephew Acting like It's her son Yes Acting like It's her son Correct She gives him The front seat On the way To the place And I found What are your Thoughts on that Dan I mean What a move I mean I would never But what a move

[00:29:03] By her This kid Couldn't be more Upset to be Flying private To ski For a week To literally Do whatever He wants I do I think She I think He is She is Saying it's It's her Nephew Yes Oh she is Okay Good She is Saying that Yeah She's just Changing her Name Yeah Just changing Her name This And this Is not I'm not Giving the Kid a hard Time This could Have happened To anybody And they Just chose Not to Reshoot This But at

[00:29:32] One point When he Finds out That he's Not going To be With his Family Like they He was Going to Go to Vail And it Was a Snowstorm Or something Or whatever He can't Go He says This Can't Be Fair And I Thought That was Great This I I Want to Make a Law

[00:30:03] Of Universal Universal Law That you're Not allowed To lie About what Haggis Is I don't Think You're You Shouldn't Be Allowed To do That Wow What Does It Matter If You Like It But I Got Tricked Into It But If You Like It Then What Does It Matter I Don't Want To Be Tricked Into Something I Want To Give Consent Knowing Fully What It Is I I I'm Going To Go Halbsies Here I Think After You Try It And Like It Then They Can Tell Correct

[00:30:32] And If You're Going To Be A Baby About It At That Point Then You're Being a Baby I I Never Ate it And You Like My Kids I Never Tell Them Like I Never Would Lie To Them About What's In Their Food But I Also Not

[00:31:12] I'm having haggis. This is ridiculous. It's a lie by me, Mr. Okay. A couple of things are happening here. First of all, we know Bran has the palate of an eight-year-old. Yes. So that's going to be an issue. But I would say this. If you, if I said tonight we're having haggis and you said, what is it? I would say try it first. So, yeah, yeah. Because, because. Yes. Because here's the thing. Like, Spain has its own, like, version of this. We, you know, baby eels, big popular one, because they look like little pasta, basically.

[00:31:43] And years ago, there's a story we still tell in my family. A high school friend of my brother's comes over. We're having, they're called angulas. And they're like, you know, they're braised in garlic and butter. They're delicious. You have them on bread. And he's eating like, oh, this is great. What is it? And somebody said, baby eels. And he stopped eating it. Like, dude, come on. You knew. Hey, let me ask you. Oh, go ahead. You're not done. No, no, no. And then cut to years later, I take, on one of our early dates, I take Dave to a Spanish restaurant in Dallas.

[00:32:12] And we're getting tapas. And one of the things I order is a thing that I love. I grew up eating, again, because I wasn't told immediately what it was, called morphea. And I said, try it. And then I'll tell you what's in it. He tried it. He loved it. It is blood sausage. But it's real good. So, you know, I think if they try it, they've had it in their mouth. They've enjoyed it. Then tell them the truth. I appreciate that. Because try it first also lets me know, hey, there's a telling you fully might scare you. Yeah.

[00:32:42] And I can make the decision. I don't think I would ever, like, intentionally be like, not tell you the main ingredient or something and tell you some side ones. I wouldn't do that. I'm saying that's what she did. Let me ask you. That's what he did. Yeah, that's what he did. He did. And it's a big joke in the family. He left out the organ meat part. Yeah, it's like, ha, ha, tricked her. Big fun. Let me ask you this, Alonzo. We went to a nice Italian restaurant with cousin Chad. And their specialty. That's your first mistake.

[00:33:07] That's what, well, yeah, their specialty, the thing that they're known for, is basically a veal chop. That's what they're known for. It is for two people. The only way to get it is to, it's way too much food for one person. You got to split it. That's right. Well, Chad is a pescatarian. Brian is against eating veal. He doesn't, he won't do it. Right? Against, and I'm sure PETA may want to sit the next few plays out if they're listening right now. We know they are. So I want to try it. Brian does not know what it is.

[00:33:37] If I had just said, this is a type of steak, where does that land? I think you're being honest. I mean, veal is beef. Yes. It is part of the beef family. So you were not, that's not misleading. You're not saying, oh, it's like, it's fish or chicken. I almost did. I almost just told him it was a type of steak. I didn't. And he didn't get it because I told him what it was. Brian, veal is so, sorry, PETA, veal is delicious. I've heard it's delicious. You would have loved it. I'm sure. I'm on the fence about it.

[00:34:07] Yeah. Yeah. No, I knew as soon as I said what it was, I didn't have a chance of anybody getting it with me. Daniel. That's right. That's right. Alonzo's got to get back over to God's country here in Greenville. I just, I think this, listen, and I know I'm saying this, she's lying about who she is. So. Yeah. Yeah. Serves her right, really. But I just think, I want everyone to know that likes me as a person, even loves me. A person. Even loves me.

[00:34:36] I would, I probably wouldn't talk to you for a while if you kept this. Also, here's the thing. How do you have eaten haggis and still think it's just like oats and spices? Yeah, there's no world where you could. There are things in there you were chewing on. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No way. Stop and question what those were. Also, you have a cell, you have a phone. Haggis is pretty famous. Yeah. You have so many ways to look up what Haggis is. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:35:00] My last one is the big argument that happens in this movie is like, you know, they're really going back and forth. She's like, what is, she was on like a playground or something. She's behind. She's in a jungle gym thing. It's weird. She's behind like basically a cage. Like that's. Netting. A netting. She's holding onto the netting and they're having this big conversation. And it really took me out of this. Yeah. She's just like a hang.

[00:35:30] And like talking through him, talking to him, really sharing, baring her soul while she's gripping the netting of a jungle gym. It just kind of. Except she, she should have been like drowning in a sea of like, you know, the ball pit. Yeah. You know, that would have really, I think added to the, the, the angst of the moment. It's not what you think. Dan. What a time to break out the line. Let he who has no sin cast the first time.

[00:35:57] I mean, he, like she is impersonating. Like she's lying completely about who she is. And she's been sent across the world to get this guy to start writing again under false pretenses, made him fall in love with her. And basically he is being told you need to get over it because you've done some things too.

[00:36:22] Can you imagine like of all the times to break out the Jesus line, it was the lead that said that? I thought it was the old lady. The old lady says that to the lead. Got it. That's what I'm saying. Like she's convincing our lead. His mother. Got it. Got it. That he, that he needs to get over this ginormous lie and complete miscarriage of trust because let he, you've done some stuff. We know it.

[00:36:50] Like, we saw the gun smoke. Yeah. We listen, we were all there when it came out that you lied about the haggis. You wore out three different gun smoke VHS tapes. There's nothing we can do about it. Like I, like I, so don't come to me now. Like what she has done is the ultimate. Absolutely. You can't recover from. And he is being told by his mother. It's not like, just come on, just get past it. Lighten up. Yeah.

[00:37:17] But I also, I got to kick out another line in this movie, which is, I think you're the only person I've ever seen fall while tubing. Have you just not tubed in fun places? Are you like, guys, it's the thing that happens. If there's not a chance of you falling off a tube in the snow, then the tubing sucks. It's bad. Like guys, like, what are you mean? And you're, you're 35 going on 50. I don't know how old you are. You've never seen anyone fall off a tube in the snow.

[00:37:47] What? Are you kidding me right now? Get out of here. The two leads are walking and they say, one of them says the one that's from the States in the movie says, it amazes me how 10 minutes ago we were surrounded by snow and now nothing. And then he says, yeah, that's Scotland for you. And listen, I guarantee you, if you get in Scotland and get in a car and start driving 70 miles an hour, that this is true. They put this line in because they filmed a scene.

[00:38:17] That's reshoots for you. That's right. Blanket it. That's exactly right. Where it is blanketed white snow. And then the next scene, it is a smash cut to the same two characters walking uphill through greenery. You can't do that and then write it away with a sentence. Like, that's not fair. Like, just ignore it. You know, that famous crazy Scottish global warming. Yeah. Yeah. That's Scotland for you. You go around the corner. Yeah. It just disappears.

[00:38:45] And then lastly, her and her nephew on the way to the airport, which in this scene, like this back and forth, I have, I guess, two problems. Um, he says, I forgot my phone. We got to go back. And she says, we can't go back. We'll miss our flight. And then he says, pretty please. And she goes, all right, sure. Now a couple of things. First of all, first of all, the power. Yes. First of all, no, no.

[00:39:14] The phone will be shipped to you, sir. You are 12. There's nothing that important on your phone. Uh, have you heard about his stocks? What do you mean? Get over it. Get over yourself. If ever there was a kid that needs his phone, it's the one that does the stocks. Get over it. Yes. Absolutely not. Second of all, pretty pleased at all it took. And third of all, you're flying private. Like, I don't know what, in what world you have to catch. That's true. Yeah. I didn't think about that. A 720 Delta out of Edinburgh. Like, what are you talking about?

[00:39:44] They're not going to wait for you. It's your plane. Maybe you're on your own tarmac. Maybe once her sister found out she canceled the private. I was like, you blew the mission. On the way here, we were private. On the way back, we're coach on United. I don't like, are you kidding? You and my son. There is no world where they are, like, there is no flight time. You are the entire list of passengers. You're the two souls. I don't like, there's no.

[00:40:13] So that whole back and forth, I had a lot happening there. That's all I got. But it's time for What the Hallmark. That's where we wonder what could have been. Maybe having a clear question we still have. What are we still wondering about? I'll start with you, Alonda. Yeah. So we're meant to understand that a year later, he has finished the book. They're making the movie. He's starting an imprint. And he's the Duke. And that, I don't know, that just seemed like a lot for the span of 12 months.

[00:40:40] Also, is she still at the publishing house? Or is she just hanging out in Scotland now being. I was surprised when they said they were married. That was the one that was like, that feels like one too many things to do this year. To also get married. Throw it in the pile. While you're young, you know. Usually we get the one year later, he finally pops the question. Finish the book. Getting that movie ready to go, which I'm sure he's involved in. Getting the imprint. And then also, oh yeah, I don't know, wedding.

[00:41:09] A royal wedding. Yeah. Whatever. It's a lot. It is what it is. There are no spring chickens. I do want to know about this kid's portfolio of investing. Most of those apps, you have to say, you have to be an adult. That's true. So maybe there is like a kids only. Maybe Daddy Jack got him in. Maybe Daddy Jack got him in. I don't know.

[00:41:37] But this kid is all about them stocks. And I'd like to just take a gander at that portfolio of them feel bad about myself. Well, yeah, of course. That's the only reason to look at people's portfolios. Right? Yeah. I'm not doing it. No. I mean, Brian, if I looked at his, I'd cry. I mean, he's just over there just trading. Yeah. Mine is about Jack. This Joker pops up for one scene, cocktail in hand, and seems to be a bigger part of this movie that got left somewhere.

[00:42:05] Like his scene is so memorable because you would, most people in this case, in a movie of this ilk, that guy doesn't talk. And then this guy does talk. And what he says feels like he's a very integral part of all of it. But he's not around the rest of the movie. And I don't know what, like, what is he? Like, what's going on there? It's fair. Which is mine. Yeah.

[00:42:30] I mean, because they've got Patsy Kenza reduced to supportive friend on phone or supportive sister on phone. Supportive husband of supportive friend on phone. Yeah. But yeah, he gets to come in with the haymaker. And it's like, well, couldn't have Patsy Kenza said that? Yeah. Absolutely. Exactly. We did it, everybody. Congratulations to us. What do you say we come back next week? I think it's a grand idea. Let's do it. It'll be June by then. We'll be all ready to go. Yeah, man. All right. Until next time, I'm the first to wish you a Merry Christmas.
