And this is a Deck the Hallmark podcast synopsis!
"A Season for Family" originally aired November 22nd, 2023. And it went a little something like this...
Maddie works at a hotel, but the nice kind where the workers wear a uniform. She doesn’t typically take time off for the holidays but she is this year.
Her and her son Wesley head off to stay with her family for Christmas after working a bit on his family tree project. They head to a ski shop to snag some gear and meet the hunky store owner, Paul. He’s showing them boots and is pumped to hear that Maddie is a single mom, literally saying “that’s great!” Out loud.
She leaves and he rushes to catch his son’s talent show. He’s a single dad who is just trying his best.
Maddie takes Wesley to his ski class the next day and meets Paul’s sister and his son, Cody. They’re in class together and become friends. This is big cuz Cody hasn’t really had friends since his mom passed away.
Maddie and Paul bond over the same nerdy sci-fi author. But then they realize something, their boys are brothers. Apparently, both Wesley and Cody are adopted and they’re birth bros.
To make this harder, Paul hasn’t told Cody he’s adopted. Despite his best effort to have them not hang out, it just kind keeps happening, including decorating a Christmas tree.
His business is struggling so he pitches Maggie’s dad who owns a big hotel in town, to partner with him. He agrees on a trial run and Maggie helps. They keep hanging out, bowling, shopping, the works. He goes in for a kiss and she’s like, “I feel weird knowing what I know.” And he’s like, “you’re right you’re right.”
That night, Paul and Cody talk to Cody about adoption but doesn’t actually come clean. He’s really feeling the pressure. Then Maggie’s dad asks if she’d move home and he the GM.
When she tells Paul, he’s like, “this is too much too fast.” When faced with all the possible options, he decides the best option is to just sell the store and move away. But he decides to stop running and tells Cody and Cody is like, “oh yeah I knew that, I have ears.”
They go over to Maggie’s for dinner and he tells her that he wants her to stay and they kiss long ones! They then sit the kids down and tell them they’re brothers. They’re both so pumped and they hug.
And that my friends was, “A Season for Family!”
