Director: Peter Benson

  • Alison Sweeney as Hannah
  • Victor Webster as Chad
  • Barbara Niven as Delores

BRAN'S MOVIE SYNOPSIS

Delores is up to something! She places a smoke bomb under a car and then goes into this coin shop. The smoke bomb goes off which sends the worker out there.

Hannah hears about a missing cop named Lucas. So she goes to bring his wife some baked goods. She asks Hannah for her help. She says her husband's fishing gear isn't even gone!

To make matters weirder, a dead body is found. It's not Lucas though. It's the body of a con-man....the owner of the coin place. Suspicious.

Hannah is on the case. She sees the wife of Lucas at the grocery store and she's laughing. She finds that suspicious. She goes down to Lucas' favorite fishing spot and ends up coming across one of his boots and his work laptop down by the water. Weird.

One night, someone throws a brick through Hannah's window that says "stay out of my business!".

Delores ends up being the star witness in the coin case because of her sleuthing and she's great.

After court that night, Hannah gets a call from Lucas' wife. She thinks Lucas has been there recently. Stuff is messy in a cupboard and his office chair is weird. Hannah finds a number for someone named Rod under a little gift box which is also next to a box of cigars that happens to be the same cigar shop the coin guy was found dead at. She finds that the number is attached to the golf club. So she goes there and finds out that this Rod guy is staying at the golf club. She suspects that Rod might be Lucas. So she goes to confront him. Turns out it is him and he explains that these bad guys were after him. He owed them money. He was worried that if it came out that he was in a bunch of gambling debt, the coin fraud case would've been thrown out. He needed Chad to take over the case.

Chad figures out that the wife of the con-man murdered him with almonds but he needs help proving that. So he calls Hannah and tells her to come in and look at pictures of the cheesecake the wife had made right before her husband's passing. She said the crust had almonds in it.

Chad and Hannah go out to celebrate and it comes out that Chad's mom was a baker and she would've loved Hannah and they kiss big time.

[00:00:03] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast. Hi, I'm Brian and I love those Hallmark Mystery Movies! I'm Brian and I like those Hallmark Mystery Movies. I'm Dan and depending on which one we're recording, I really despise those Hallmark Mystery Movies. And this is the Deck The Hallmark Podcast! Deck The Hallmark, it's this podcast. And Friends host this podcast.

[00:00:34] We hope you like this jolly podcast. We're back, everybody! We're back! In a world where we get all the mysteries for Hallmark to hear ahead of time and we record them all in one day, that's why I was confused. Like can you imagine if that would be a mystery day? What I find most interesting, we're talking about Hannah Swensen best served cold. Sorry, is best served cold Hannah Swensen? I'm not saying Hannah Swensen is best served cold.

[00:01:04] I'm not saying Hannah Swensen is best served cold. We're talking about that today and you chose to come in today. I did. Last week for the Alls for Unloving Mahjong? I said no. No. That's where the limit was. For this one, you said I will not. Turns out not a bad movie according to you guys. Turns out that Dan is actually a secret Swensen head. Yeah, Swensen head. Normally, if I hate a movie enough, I skip it.

[00:01:33] But I've been here, so it turns out I really actually secretly love a lot of these movies. I guess so. You left town too. I hated it so much you left town. Left town. It's good to be here. Great to be here. How many mystery movies in a year do you think Hallmark's released since they shut down putting them on the mystery chain? More than they did when they had the network. That's what I was getting to. It's a lot of them. But it feels like at least a dozen. They've upped it. They said we're not showing them on the mystery anymore. Should we stop making mysteries altogether? No. I vote that we quadruple it.

[00:02:01] We make more than we had in the quadruple. We don't have space for them. What should we do? All I'm saying is how many mysteries have we had this year? This calendar year? Eight Swensons. Yep. Five mystery islands. I don't know if we have not seen the mystery islands this year. I feel like we've had 58 mystery islands and 3,000 Hannah Swensons. Have we had any regular ones? Have we had any non-island Swensons ones? Yes. We do have the second True Justice next week. Yeah, it is.

[00:02:30] Which the first one came out, what was that, 23 or something like that? So this is a bit late to the sequel world. But the third one already in the books. In the books. A third one's coming. I heard that. A third one's coming. A third one's coming already in the books. You can't get it out of the books once it's in there. No, you can't. This is the what number, Hannah Swenson, in all honesty. 15th? I have no idea. I have no idea. You know, they changed the name. It used to be Murder She Bakes. Yeah. And then they changed the name to Hannah Swenson.

[00:03:00] This is the 14th. This is? Yes. You were close there. What did you say? 15? I actually didn't answer the question. I think you guys did. I said 15. I was close. Thank you very much. Because only a true Swenson head would know that. And you knew it. That's true. That was a trap. Good trap. Uh-huh. You sicko? You sicko? I'm sorry. This is 14. This is 14. Yeah. You did say that. I said 15. I'm sorry I was right. This is 14. Sorry I was right. You were right. We got it. Sugar and Vice and Pie to Die For. Yeah.

[00:03:29] Sugar and Vice is the only other one this year. Man, that seems like a lot. Really? Only two? How many did we have last year? Last year we had Pie to Die For, Reality Bites. The year before we had Sprinkle of Deceit and One Bad Apple. Two a year. The year before that, Zest for Death, Carrot Cake Murder. So since 2023 we've had two a year. There's nothing more consistent in the Hallmark universe than Hannah Swenson. And then before that they're all, nope, there's one other Hannah Swenson mystery, Sweet Revenge 2021.

[00:03:57] And then before, the first five are on Murder She Bank. That's right. Yeah. Sheesh. So there's been more Hannah Swenson mysteries than Murder She Bank. Almost double. For some reason I thought Murder She Bank was an institution before it switched over. Now it's old, old, old news. When was the last one that old Matthews? Who has been in more? Cameron Matheson or Vic Webster? The last, uh, Matheson was 2023. It was number eight. If he was in the first eight, then he has more.

[00:04:25] But Vicki, Vicki Webbs has been in six of these. He's catching up. He's catching up. Although I don't know if, uh, go to the first Hannah Swenson. Was Cammy, was Cammy in it? Chocolate chip cookie mystery, you mean? Um, yeah. It's Murder She Baked, the chocolate chip cookie mystery. Cameron Matheson was in the first one. That's right. So his name is Joey Simi. Yeah. Uh, we are talking about best served Colt today. Hannah Swenson mystery. Uh, let's get to it folks. May 17th, 2026.

[00:04:54] In fact, that, uh, that was the Saturday before, uh, this Tuesday that this episode's coming out. That is exactly how that works every time we do a new deck to Hallmark. Yeah. Those are my, my kid's birthday. It's a big day. Yeah. You skipped it. Yeah. Yeah. You're such a big Henson, Henson, Henson, Henson, Henson, Henson, Henson, Henson, Henson, Henson, Henson, Henson, Henson, Henson, Henson, Henson, Henson, Henson, Henson, Henson, that you said, I can't be there. I can't be at my kid's birthday. I gotta get your mind right. I gotta be live. I gotta watch the commercials. How many times have you watched it since it premiered?

[00:05:24] Yeah. Baker's doesn't. Baker's doesn't. That's with commercials. I did a few more quick boys with their commercials. Just quick hits. Yeah. Just a quick little, little something. A little. You, cause you, the commercials allow you to sit and stew. Yeah. Yeah. I gotta like calm down. Blood pressure. A little something like this. Uh, Dolores is up to something, everybody. She places a smoke bomb under a car. What the heck is Dolores doing? And then goes into the coin shop.

[00:05:53] Smoke bomb goes off, which sends the worker out there. She goes back into the back room, takes pictures. What's she up to? Hannah hears about a missing cop named Lucas. So she goes to bring his wife some baked goods because it's what she does. She asks Hannah for help. She says that her husband's fishing gear isn't even gone. Usually when he goes missing, which he does from time to time, he takes his fishing gear with him. He's a big fisher. Men. Fisher of men. No, that's Jesus. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:06:23] To make matters weirder or weirder. Weirder. Weirder. Weirder. Give me a couple weirder. Weirder. You did the T and you went weirder several times. To make matters weirder, a body is a dead body is found. It's not Lucas's though. It is the body of the con man who owns the coin place from the beginning of the movie suspicious. How are they connected?

[00:06:52] Well, Hannah is on the case. She sees the wife of Lucas at the grocery store. She's laughing. She finds that suspicious. She goes down to Lucas's favorite fishing spot and ends up coming across one boot and his work laptop that had come up from the water onto a tarp. And I don't know why the tarp's there, but it's weird is all I'm saying. One night, one night, some nights I was. Wait, there it is. I said, what are you trying to say?

[00:07:22] I found it. That was so weird. Weird. Weird. Sorry guys, I always get a little silly that it's Tuesday after the Saturday, you know what I mean? So today is the Tuesday after the Saturday that this movie airs. It's not way before then. No, it's not. So one night, someone threw a brick through Hannah's upstairs window and says, Stay out of my business. My business, my business.

[00:07:52] Dolores ends up being the star witness in the coin case. Here's the situation with the coin case. Finally, let's hear it. All of the people that have been conned by the coin people are trying to take down this con person. Obviously, the con man's dead. Yeah. So con man's wife is now like representing the company. And she also is a baker.

[00:08:18] She finds Hannah at one point and is like, hey, I haven't been posting to my own account since the trial started. But I would love to collaborate with you after all of this blows over. You know how it is. So anyway, Dolores is not the star witness because if you all remember, she smoked, bombed the car and got some pretty good pictures. And she's able to do with her sleuthing. She's able to give all the great information that she has. After courts that night, Hannah gets a call from Lucas's wife.

[00:08:47] She thinks that Lucas has been there recently. Stuff is messy in the cupboard and his office chair is weird. Hannah. Some might say it's weird. It's weird. Hannah is poking around and finds a number for someone named Rod under a little gift box that is on the desk next to a box. After this Saturday.

[00:09:12] Next to a box of cigars that happens to be the same cigar shop that the coin guy was found dead ass. Don't do cigar shop. And turns out he also owns that cigar shop. Very suspicious. So she finds that number is attached to a golf club, not the club itself, but the establishment. And so she goes there and finds out that this Rod guy is staying at the golf club. Something that happens here at this golf club. Three story golf club.

[00:09:40] She suspects that Rod might be related in some way, shape or form to Lucas. So she goes, she knocks on the door. He says, who is it? There's no answer. He comes out. It's Hannah Swenson. And she confronts him. Turns out it is him. It's Lucas. He explains that these bad guys were after him. He owed them money. But when he was doing real good with the gambling, they sent him the box of cigars.

[00:10:10] Lucas was working the case of the con guy who also owned the cigar shop. So he said, if it comes out that I was gambling and that I had cigars from the establishment of the guy that I'm investigating, it's not going to look good. So the best thing I can do is get the heck out of here. So my boy Chad can take over the case. I'll tell no one where I'm going. I'll also throw my laptop in the water. So Chad has to start from scratch. It's better that way.

[00:10:39] Chad figures out that the wife of the con man murdered him with almonds, but he needs help proving that. So who's he going to call to the stand? He calls Hannah Swenson and says, hey, take a look at this picture of a cheesecake that was posted the day that her husband was married. What do you notice about that cheesecake? Well, the cheesecake crust is made of something very interesting.

[00:11:06] Something you would normally use in a cheesecake crust. What is it you might be wondering? No, you're not. You know it. It's almonds. It's Al in his mounds. And so that's enough. She did it. Chad and Hannah go out to celebrate and it comes out that Chad's mom was a baker and she would have loved Hannah and they kiss big ones. And that, my friends, was Hannah Swenson.

[00:11:34] So they do the thing that is the Tuesday after Saturday is when you go. It's like what it is and then what it is a part of. So best serves cold, colon Hannah Swenson. Let's take a break. We'll come back. We'll talk about this movie here on Deck the Hallmark. A Bramble Jam podcast. Hannah Swenson. Welcome back. We're talking about best served cold today. Yeah.

[00:12:03] We've got a lot to get to. We've got. Do we? We've got gas, gas bombs, smoke bombs, even smoke bombs. We've got coins. We've got con artists. We've got river beds. We've got golf clubs. We've got a lot of stuff. Let's get to it. We're going to share our thoughts on this movie. I'm going to start with you, Brian Guy. Brian, what'd you think about this? This, this, this one, the, the best served cold. Yeah. A Hannah Swenson mystery.

[00:12:30] I found this to be one of the more enjoyable Hannah Swensen that we've seen in quite a while. Actually, I found myself enjoying the character. I feel like, I don't know what they did differently here. I think what they did was they gave everybody a little bit more time on the screen and the story was a little more complicated, which I didn't care so much about the coin scandal because I don't feel like it was a big deal. Like it didn't seem like it needed to be explained.

[00:12:58] And so since it wasn't really explained, uh, very thoroughly and all the connections and, uh, stuff like that, I just was like, okay, I'll just go along with this and, uh, see where this goes. But Dolores had a lot of fun stuff to do. There were some funny moments here where Hannah's mom, I think Hannah's mom dating the police chief adds a fun dynamic where a wrinkle, if you will, because she can give like an attitude to the chief that Hannah can't.

[00:13:24] And so that kind of, I kind of liked that little, uh, dynamic there and Hannah's sister commenting from the other room. She's done that before when Vic's in the scene and she's throwing out her comments from another room. And that's always funny. Um, and just Dolores swearing herself in, in the court, I thought was very funny. So some moments that I genuinely thought were pretty well done. I enjoyed the courtroom scenes, but the mystery part, yeah, whatever. Uh, again, like as standard for these movies, the mystery part is sort of like the least, uh, interesting part for me, but I had a pretty decent time with this one actually.

[00:13:54] Pretty decent time. Uh, listen, I think I, I, we've all made it a button. Okay. We don't need any more. We are okay. Now the best part of this is getting to see our boy, Vic. Uh, he looks at one point he wore a black turtleneck and I loved every second of it as a turtleneck fan myself. I think I've made that clear in my, uh, formal outings that I love a turtleneck. Uh, I do love Vic Webster and I love him in these movies.

[00:14:23] I also love him in any movie. So I would, if I had my druthers, if you all will allow me to, I'll give you some druthers. Sure. You can have your druthers. Yeah. The, the, the, the, the, the, the, the way that I see it is if this is what it takes for us to see Vic Webster on our screens, I'm willing to bite the bullet. I'm willing to bite the bullet.

[00:14:50] If this is the only way we can make it happen, but I would just argue, let's just, I, we've done, we've done it. We've done it. And I don't disagree with you, Bry guy. I did find the, this one to be like, I was not as bored as I have been in past Hannah Swenson mysteries. I just, I love Vic Webster so much. If this is what it takes, I will do it if I have to.

[00:15:17] But I would rather see him falling in love with somebody and kissing big ones at the end of the movie. It's preferably at Christmas time. Is that too much to ask? I don't know. I don't know. So that's where I'm at. If I have to for Vic, I will, but I'm wet. I am ready and willing to move on if the good Lord allows, which I have been praying for for quite some time now. Dano. You know, what's crazy is, is that if you know Brian Harold in real life, he's just

[00:15:47] kind of like, Oh, well, everything is going to go wrong all the time. But if you get him on deck, the hallmark, he's like, let me try to find a lens to where Hannah Swenson's a good movie. Uh, that's just who he is on this podcast. And I'm thrilled that this is the Brian that we get to the outward facing public. Uh, guys, these movies suck. I don't look. Here's the thing is last time we did this, which it does feel like there's been more than two this year. I think we're being punked somewhere on IMDB, but, uh, I like, we all were like, we've got

[00:16:16] to stop these. And I want to be very clear. We have to stop these. We still have to stop these. But after we all three said, we've got to stop these. We receive more than a few comments, messages, emails saying, I actually still really like the Hannah Swenson movies. So I think that we don't have our finger on the pulse of hallmark viewership and what if hallmark viewers had their druthers, how many of these movies they would be getting.

[00:16:45] So if I'm giving you your druthers, I have to take those druthers, just pull the rug out from under the drug druthers of the hallmark viewers who clearly still are really resonating with the Hannah Swenson movies. Now, why? I don't know. I don't know. Guys, for us to sit here and try to squeeze blood from a turnip and say, this is a good movie or this was better is hysterical, but sure. Why not? Hannah Swenson gets on the stand. That's different. Yeah.

[00:17:14] Uh, Vic gets to be a lawyer in a courtroom. Now, does most of that lawy lawyering make no sense? Yeah, that's not important. Uh, did Barbara Nivens out here snooping and she gets to be on the stand. So, I mean, yeah. Okay. Whatever for the 14th entry in a series that was DOA after the Christmas one, whatever. I it's bad. It's not good. I don't like give me literally any other mystery.

[00:17:41] Give me literally any other mystery. And I will, aside from the island, mystery island. Hmm. And I, this over island, mystery island. I think I'd still take mystery island over this. I don't think so. I, but not, I'm talking this particular iteration of Hannah Swenson. I think this one is better. The best mystery island is better than this. But the, the third and fourth. The first one. Yes. Yes, exactly.

[00:18:11] And the rest of the mystery islands are nonsensical. And so. It's what the kids call derivative. Derivative. That's what the kids say. I don't use that. Math calculus teachers would never say that. I don't use that language. Kids on the street, I hear it five times a day. Should we bleep that? Yeah. It's like derivative. So derivative of you. You're being derivative. They don't shorten it either. They say every syllable. I've heard one kid say derivative. Riv-riv? No, derivative. Deriv-riv. Which I wasn't, like I'm not comfortable saying. I'm not comfortable saying it either. I'm not even sure if that's.

[00:18:39] I don't know if it's slang for derivative or if it's its own thing. And that's why. We should check on that. We should probably check. Either way, this movie is derivative. Whatever it means, it is. So like, mystery island being the one exception, which I think someone made a deal with a devil somewhere, golden fiddle involved, and they had to make five of those movies. But this seems to be a train that's not only left the station, but it's not slowing down. And so I don't know how else to say even this one, which yeah,

[00:19:08] I guess it's an uptick a better over the other ones, or maybe we were worn down by that dumb ranch movie that she's also in, but give me any other mystery. Any other one. True justice hasn't aired yet. I bet you give me that one over this. All the haunted, all those. Curious Caterer, Case of Mystery Lake. With Josemite. Yosemite. Yosemite. Josemite. Josemite. Yeah, whole Semeni families, good people. This movie still is a 14th in a series of movies

[00:19:37] that should have been gone a long time ago. How many are OG Aurora Teagarden movies? I've not seen any Aurora Teagarden before Niall made it. But how many are there? Is 14 the most when it comes to a Hallmark mystery series? Granted, you know, this is. Are we including the new Aurora Teagarden is the question. No, there's 21. You think she's going for that? There's 18 originals and three prequels with Schuyler Samuels.

[00:20:07] Did that, does that, because I believed CCB, they started making new ones over at the other network. Does that include that? Ooh, I didn't know that information. I got them right here. Don't worry. Okay, good. While you're looking that up, let's get to the feels. That's where we talk about what in this movie gave us. Feels of sorts. I've got the 12th one being the last one. Okay. The 12th one? I thought you said 21. I know. 21 is what Google said. IMDB has 12 listed here that CCB was in the last one 2019,

[00:20:36] so that would add up. Okay. Interesting. 14 is more is what you're saying. It is. On paper. On paper. But then we have the three new ones. Google's just smoking crack over here. Well. No, this is, Amazon is offering the 19 movie collection of Aurora Tea Garden, so maybe they are making more on the other network? I don't know. Man, we gotta, I gotta do some more digging. Just go to your feet. Get your construction hat on. Uh, let's get to the feels. Okay.

[00:21:05] So we're talking about what in this movie gave us feels. Right? Yeah. We get a, towards the end of this movie, a really nice, my cousin Vinny moment here with Hannah on the stand. And I was so pumped that they did this where she gets a picture and Vic has her look at it. It's like, do you recognize anything in this picture? And then just waits for her to figure it out. And I was so pumped that they went that far with it where all I could think of was, does the defense's case hold any water?

[00:21:36] No, it does not. And I, this morning, it does not. And it was so great. I just wanted her to scream about the 64 Buick Skylark tires. Brand is no retardant. I know. I can't believe he is. He it's, it sounds great though. My cousin Vinny. Is that a movie? What? My cousin Vinny. There's no way these tire marks were made by a 64 Buick Skylark. It's not possible. That's right. Is it, is it good or is it? It's an amazing movie. It's awesome.

[00:22:05] Joe Pesci, Marissa Tomei, Ralph Macchio. Oh, I know Ralph. I'm kidding you right now. My cousin Vinny. The two youths. The two youths. So awesome. What a cool throwback and call out, shout out, whatever it was. It was so great. I watched the My Cousin Vinny courtroom scene because of this and it holds up. I'm through with that guy. I say it almost every time I. Yeah, I'm through with that guy. It's so fun. You gotta watch it, brand. Okay. You gotta watch it brand. I've got the official IMDB list here. Uh, CCB wasn't 18 of these. And then there are three prequels.

[00:22:34] Where'd 19 come from? I don't know. I don't know because there are 18 on here and the last one was 2022 haunted by murder. She was in it. It was on Hallmark. Wow. Hmm. She was still doing Homer in 2022. Maybe they had him in the can. Yeah. Yeah. Cause I mean, it's, I mean, it's her and Nile Mater. Yeah. Huh. Candace Cameron Bure and it's got the post. What you say? Candace Cameron Bure. I got that song. Huh? Yeah. Dude. I wish you did.

[00:23:04] Maybe not. I think I have in the old one. That was better. That was better. That was better. Um, Um, You have any feels, Brad? Yeah. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I got, I got, sorry. I got sidetracked. Well, my biggest feels is to what you say. Canon's camera Bray song from my friend, Patrick. Uh, you could stream it. I believe anywhere you listen to music anywhere. Yeah. What'd you say? Can you bangers? Um, and then, you know, uh, Uh, oof. Um, Uh,

[00:23:34] I, Oh, Vic Webster's turtleneck. I already talked about it. Vic Webster's, he, it looks like his head is floating. And his, his head floating is better than any of, uh, I'll ever be. Yeah. Is better than any, uh, I'll ever be. And I'll ever be. That's true. Um, all right. We'll be right back. Uh, we'll be right back here on Dan the Hallmark. I can try it.

[00:24:04] And Aurora really threw us off. Hey, I will say she signed the contract with the other network in April of 22. So Hallmark released the last one in February. Okay. With no fanfare, I believe. What about, what about, uh, what about, uh, what about, uh, the garage sale? Oh, there's a lot of those. I'm on it. Yeah. Detective work here. It's definitely what, uh, there's almonds in the crust. Uh, and that's, uh, you only know that if you dig, uh, bright guy. Anyway, what? Oh. 16 of those. 2019 being the last one.

[00:24:34] We've never seen a single one. We've never covered those. Uh, no, we did not. Who's in those? Uh, Lori Locke. That's Lori Locke. I wonder if they'll, uh, pick it back up now that she's back. Who's back? Yeah. Then you'll have to start covering them. And then we gotta go back. We gotta do all 16. I think that's only fair. In one week. In one week. We'll do a week of it. Pre Bramble Fest. Yeah, the week of Bramble Fest. Yeah, we'll do all the garage sales. Uh, oh. People have asked us to do the garage sales. Uh, so. 24 hours exactly. I'm not saying.

[00:25:02] I'm just saying 16 movies is 24 hours. So what you're saying is we should do a spring marathon. A spring marathon with just garage sale mysteries. It is garage sale season. Yeah. Spring. That's true. So what, what here's the thing is, is there's actually six minutes per that you take away from there. So like there's about an hour and a half less than 24 hours there per, you know, once you take the six minutes from every movie. So we do one hour and a half DTH episode to cover all 16. You do one mega.

[00:25:30] And then the rest are released as taken to the tapes. You watch us. Yeah. Listen, listen, listen, listen. Let us know in the comments. I gotta be honest. Hashtag weather membrane. I, there's a weird, sick twisted part of me that wants to do it more than anything we've ever done. It reminds me, Dan, of when we did, this is not even at that level, but when we did the Terminator-a-thon. Terminator-a-thon. Before Terminator-a-thon. That was a 16 hour day. It was a big day. Remember to serve.

[00:26:00] We watched all the Terminator movies and then saw the new one in the theaters. That's right. Yeah. That was a great day. That sounds like a great day. Yeah. Yeah. We, that was before any of us had kids. Yeah. We just, my wife went to work at her job at the hospital and we all showed up at my house with donuts. I'll just say this though. If we're doing garage sale, we're not raising money for charity. We're, that's for us. No, no, no, no, no. That's for us. One for them, one for us. That is a, it's our, it's our spring fundraiser. A fundraiser for us, which we might need guys.

[00:26:30] Honestly, it's not a bad idea. This is not our worst idea. Not our worst idea. Cancel everyone's vacation. We're doing the, uh, your son. Yeah. I love this idea actually. Um, all right. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Just real quick. Uh, so the fisherman friend of Lucas, uh, he found a boot. That's a fisherman friend. Ah, fisherman friend. He found a rubber boot. Um, that was so he knew the second he saw it. That's Luke's. That's good old Luke's boot right there.

[00:26:57] That, that just plain black boot, no design, no, no, nothing. That's old Luke's boot. Come on. I'll play like pick a boot that is unique or has something like a scraping. I remember when he got his hook stuck in that boot. That's definitely old Luke's. Nothing like that. That's just a plain black rubber boot. It doesn't look like anybody's special boot. Um, it's also, there's gotta be a better way to get out of a case where you have a conflict

[00:27:25] of interest other than holding up in a golf course, guest room, eating Cheetos, getting dust all over the door, throwing your laptop in a stream. But here's the thing is, is the golf, the golf course she is at is also an office building. Yeah. It's just not park. There's like, it looks like there's hotel rooms there. It's not, none of it is golf course. It was, it didn't get the vibe. The vibe was not. There's no way it's a golf course. There's no way it's a golf course.

[00:27:54] It's more a hideout than golf course. Yeah. It's more where you go when you've done something wrong. You don't want to be found than when you want to play golf. So it was just a weird, like, just pick a better golf place. I guess a better golf place. Um, the, the last thing I'll just stop here because we're just going to town. Uh, the Hannah doesn't know how to do a reverse phone number search. Are you kidding me? Like somebody like all the people. Yeah. She's been doing that since she was, you know, 13. I assume just reverse searching phone numbers.

[00:28:23] Uh, just not believable at all. She knows what she's doing. I did have a feels brain. I knew I was on here somewhere and I found it. Well, we already passed. So you just skip right over me. We can't retroactively do it. Wow. I'll allow it this time though. Yeah. One a year. Uh, cinnamon toast, popcorn. Oh, I wrote that too. Are you kidding me? I'm sorry. Yeah. That's what I wrote. Oh my God. Cinnamon toast, popcorn balls. You said we should do that. Uh, excuse me. We do the garage. Mystery marathon as we've named it. How would you? It's clusters.

[00:28:52] I assume. Like, yeah, man. I heard that the frosting is what marshmallow in there too. Frosted window paint. Carol's gleaming. Gleaming. Sure. Yeah, man. Painted candy cane. So good. Really good. Uh, I have a few. One, this jury is out of control. Yes.

[00:29:20] This jury is talking amongst themselves nonstop. The witness says something and they're like, oh my gosh, that might change. That might change everything. The whole, they're not allowed to talk to each other or anyone about anything. Hold it to yourselves. You could cry if you want to. That happens. Yeah. You can be like, you sure about that? You see Brian's hat. But you can't. You can't be like. Just be like, how dumb was that? They're all just like going nuts over there.

[00:29:49] Just talking willy nilly. At one point, one character says I yearned for it. And no. Are you human? Who says that? I yearned for it. Something they have. I yearned. Not like I yearned. Yes. Because I yearned for it. Yes. I yearned for it for so long and then I got it. Oh, it was. Yeah. She came over to the Lucas's wife's house and they were like, we really like this thing, whatever it was. And she's like, yes, I yearned for it. Oh, the furniture piece? I yearned for it. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:30:19] Did you get that at the old estate sale or whatever? Yes. I yearned for it and I bought it. That's how that goes. I yearned for it. You see it? You yearned for it? You bought it. It's natural. It's like our murderer saying, I'm going to do a social media post. I don't think you are. I'm going to do one. I was yearning to do a social media post. I yearned for it and then I did it. It's going to influence the masses. That's right. The big gotcha. How many social media posts do you do a day? Yeah. They'll be yearning. Yeah.

[00:30:44] The big gotcha before the almond crust is the fact that there are pink glasses found back there. And guys, that's you just do that. I'll just say this for the the wife of the con artist that is on the stand. That's the one. The stand there. You're you've you're already perjuring yourself. You're already lying. Why not just go? He likes pink. Yeah.

[00:31:13] All you got to do is double down there. He likes pink. But also like this. It's just like, man, if I went somewhere and they're like there were. Pink glasses on sale or they were the ones that I would get them. No problem. Having pink glasses back there in your workstation does not prove that she did it unless they establish a history through photographic evidence that she wears pink nonstop.

[00:31:42] That might be something. It would be nice. But only having a picture of her in the glasses. Or something. But only having a pair of pink glasses back there does not prove that she was the one that was doing the work. The dude could just like pink. It is OK, as I have to tell my children all the time. Pink. Pink. Dude, I made it a point to start wearing pink because I have two boys. It's literally like the last four years. I've been like, I'm adopting pink into the wardrobe.

[00:32:10] So my boys do not because they won't do it. They won't give me a hard time. And then they'll then it'll be normal. Yeah. Like the fact that they did this in this movie is crazy. And then my last one is I got a kick out of how badly this judge wanted to wrap things up because it's Friday. And he, oh, my God, they start. Yeah, it's Friday. So can we just and then like Vic kept doing stuff and he would just be like, OK, yes, go quick. Five minute recess. It's Friday. We want to wrap this up.

[00:32:40] He to his credit. He did not let the fact that it is Friday derail what was happening in the courtroom like he did allow it to play out. He did let justice come forward, which is wonderful. But he did it begrudgingly. We all know that this guy was pretty annoyed at how long Friday was going. And honestly, I get it, brother. I get it. Can't blame him. Dano, what should we know which one?

[00:33:06] So I know we've already talked about how there are some weird things that are said in this movie like weird. I yearned for it and then I bought it. I do a social media post. But the guy that Barbara Niven's dating says they were poisoned, me thinks airborne or ingested. Now, you can say we were wound it twice. Now, you can say that if you're Shakespeare, Jar Jar Binks or Gollum.

[00:33:32] But to say it when talking about poison, like how do you just toss that in there like it's not a pin out of a grenade? Like, are you kidding me right now? Me thinks get out of here, bro. Yeah. She keeps offering Vic baked goods and he keeps turning them down even though he's eating baked goods in other movies. Like, it's just like so incongruous. It's not important. He says the guys upstairs are really going to love those baked goods. She goes upstairs. She opens.

[00:34:01] She's like offers this cop one and he looks and he goes, he says, I didn't think I was going to be hungry today. But what? You said what? That could not have been in the script. I didn't think I was going to be hungry today. All day. I did not have on my calendar that I would wake up and have the human experience that we all have every day, which is at some point you need sustenance to survive.

[00:34:30] I didn't think it was going to occur to me today. I think what he's going for there is like a, I mean, I've already had breakfast, but right. You know, one of those numbers would make sense, but I didn't anticipate. This is like, I'll give you some money now. I think that's a line that should not have made the like him going. Well, I told myself I was going to wait for lunch or I'm trying to lay off sugar. He said, I didn't think I was going to be hungry today. That sneaks up on you. I want some water? I didn't think I was going to be thirsty today.

[00:35:00] You mentioned it. What's crazy is every morning I wake up and I think it's today's the day. I'm not going to be hungry. And then every day, like clockwork almost. I believe Barbara Niven's character says it's never the murder. It's always the marriage. And I don't remember the context of that, but I'm here to tell you that sometimes it's got to be the murder, right? Like it can't always be marriage, not murder. We did talk about it in the synopsis, but I'll get back to it real briefly to scare Hannah Swenson.

[00:35:28] Someone threw a brick through her second story window. Thank you. Not her first. They didn't go up and take the easy fastball down the middle. You just wind up and throw it. But they had to have really great aim in a very small window and they hit it dead on. And when they do that, our gang of girls runs up the stairs, sees it and goes, let's just go to mom's house. They don't call an authority. They don't tell Vixter. They just go windows broken.

[00:35:58] We should go somewhere else. Hope it doesn't rain. What in the 84 minute movie do we have here? We didn't like, I just, I didn't think I was going to be hungry today. Yeah. That's my whole thing. Cause I didn't think it. That's really, really weird. Um, you know, we always talk about how the cops disclose information at Hannah all the time. And I think we just got, and the fact that there's a lot of murders in this town and I think we just gotten used to those two things. It is fine. But for her to be trying to get information from Vick and for Vick to go well, and then,

[00:36:27] and then he goes up and then he does a thing where he locks his lips like he's going to keep the secret and he throws away the key. And then he proceeds to tell her everything. You got to go through the motions. What are we doing guys? Guys? Um, this is some of the worst lawyering I've ever seen in my life ever by this defense attorney ever, ever, ever.

[00:36:52] But it is peak bad when the, the, I'm not, I didn't go to law school when the witness on the stand goes and he had a nut allergy and Vick goes, he had a nut allergy. And then defense attorney goes, objection relevance. She brought it up. Your client, man, she's doing what your client brought. What do you mean relevant? Do the judges again? He didn't want to be there. And I don't think he did say overruled though.

[00:37:21] It turns out, it turns out it was relevant, but I just want to be clear. If the woman on the stand goes, he was in a hot air balloons. And then Vick says he was in hot air balloons. That is also relevant. That's also relevant. Um, yeah. So looking back, this movie wasn't a tick up and that's all I got. It's time for what the homework is where we wonder what could have been maybe having his clothes. What are you still wondering about? I'll start with you, bright guy. Yeah. Um, what the heck was Hannah doing to that corn chowder?

[00:37:51] He came over. She gave him, she's like, Oh, you gotta go back to the office. Let me give you some food and some coffee. Let me make you a little corn chowder and hot coffee combo, which everybody is craving in the middle of the night. She opens up the corn chowder container and she's adding a dash of this crumpling that. I don't know what she's doing to it. She's it's already got the stuff in it. Like corn chowders. It's chowder. It's chowder. Chowder. That's it. It's already what it is. What is she adding to this corn chowder?

[00:38:19] We got a little, a little, a little, a little that. Well, this will that. What does it need? What does it need? Yeah. I don't know. It was really confusing because corn chowder, like it's just what it is. And she's just choosing it up. Like you said, they're just throwing a bunch of stuff. You gotta sometimes. I have two. One. I want to know who made this note for this movie to do this. At one point, they do a thing where somebody is mysteriously walking up to Hannah's house. Yep.

[00:38:48] Close up of this person's got a range finder for that second story window. We'll just click it to make sure they have the arm strength. Who is this? What is this? The music is swelling. Knock on the door. It's Vic Webster. Yeah, man. What? Come on. Come on. Whose note was that? Next thing you know, he's going to be wearing pink. We didn't need that. We didn't. It was. We had enough. We didn't need enough.

[00:39:12] It's like if every five minutes we don't do something where the music builds and there's some sort of suspense there, then we'll lose the audience. And I would say you lost me then. When the reveal was that it's Vic Webster, I said, ah, no, that's silly. But I do want to know, legally speaking, maybe a lawyer could reach out to us. Hello at deckthelmer.com and let me know about how this might work in the actual courtroom.

[00:39:40] So the defense, right, is doing a thing. She is questioning the person. Defendant. Defendant. He then comes up, cross-examines. And then says. Cross-examines. I can't believe none of us did this as a white woman. Cross-examines. This is what the homework though, because I do want to know if this, can you do this? So he cross-examines her. And then he calls.

[00:40:06] And then Allman comes up and he says five minute recess and then comes back and says, I am going to call a surprise witness. As a rebuttal. As a rebuttal. To the testimony given by the defendant. Yeah. Without first disclosing. I, I, I. You have to disclose the witness. You have to disclose the witness. Yeah. Like the witness has to like, right? Yeah. The defense attorney would have to. Cause it's not his case anymore. Prosecution already rests. That would be my, what I would assume.

[00:40:36] But I feel like if stuff comes up, you can, you can introduce a new, an expert witness in a situation where you don't have the information you need as long as they, and this happens in my cousin Vinny. Right. The defendant gets a chance to basically confirm they are an expert in that field before the witness is accepted. Right. The experts accept it. Right. I feel like there is a procedure for introducing a new. Yeah. You can call a surprise witness as a rebuttal to unexpected testimony subject to the judge's discretion, strict limitations.

[00:41:04] Uh, they typically avoid it because it's called trial by ambush. Oh. Um, rebuttal witnesses are primarily used to contradict new unanticipated evidence or testimony introduced to the opposing. Okay. So unanticipated testimony is what he would have used to get that rebuttal witness. But then wouldn't that, wouldn't that witness though, then be a surprise to the defense? We can do this all day. Yes. I think, I think it's got to just like judge gets a lot of discretion there. And on a Friday. And honestly, and it's on a Friday.

[00:41:33] He allowed it. Wow. What about a surprise like birthday ground? Yeah. For the stand. Just like surprise. Yeah. A little something. Well, thanks. I mean, Google said so. So I'll go with Google. Google was wrong about the garage. Garage sale. But that's right. No, it turned out they were right. Garage sales 24 hours. And immigrant had a weird number. Yeah. That's all I know. That's all we know. Dan. Uh, yeah. So we, the whole movie, the one big problem with this movie is, is the one person that is a suspect does it right.

[00:42:03] Like there's no really other viable, like in my opinion, like from the time we meet her, and then we have the scene in the grocery store with Hannah Swenson and her talking about how she does a Facebook post or whatever. Yeah. Like from that point forward, you just know it's her and it's about trying to find a way to convict her. I don't think there's any other real, but she's so strongly talks about her content creation that I thought for sure that would be a part of this investigation. Mm-hmm .

[00:42:31] Because if someone talks to you about their content creation all the time, then either A, they have a big following or B, they don't have any following and they're trying to get it started. Either way, you would have gone to watch her videos and probably noticed a lot of this stuff beforehand. So my question is, is that what kind of following did she have? If it's nothing, like you should have solved this earlier. If it's a lot of people, then this would have been a case that would have taken over the nation.

[00:43:01] So it doesn't, you know what I mean? To that point though, like her talking about her social media is what ended up getting her caught in the first place. Like she couldn't stop herself from talking about it. And so it's like how many, so I guess by what the homework is, is how many followers does she have? Like how big of a online footprint are we talking here? For it's they all to have missed it. For everyone to have been like, I didn't see the almonds there. Yeah. I didn't see. Cause she has to bake the thing. Right? Yeah. And we've shot baking. Yeah.

[00:43:28] Well, in, in, uh, uh, Chad's defense here though, he just got the case and all the case fall. It's possible that Lucas had that job though. Hannah's known this a long time. She should have immediately right. Googled this woman and her stuff. Probably, but she wasn't thinking about that case. She was thinking about Lucas. Yeah. The other side of it. She was focusing on the Lucas thing. And so she didn't clock it. I mean, she was like a pretty big miss to get to the defense of this woman. Yeah. Did Lucas know about it?

[00:43:57] Hopefully Lucas at some point who is working the case would have seen. You would think. It's time for double decker of the week. It's where we dive deep into a life of a double decker who has signed up for breamandjumpplus.com. Uh, and then a bright guy, you do the deep dive on this. Uh, do you mean make it bigger? Um, I'm just trying to decide which way I want to go with it. Um, I, you'd have to make it bigger. I, I just didn't know if I'm going to go. We're talking about the font on the screen. By the way, folks. Maggie. Thank you, Brian. Maggie Votronaut or Votronaut. I like Votronaut.

[00:44:27] I think that's, I think Votronaut is what we're going to go with. Maggie Votronaut. Yeah. Votronaut. Yeah. In the know. Maggie. I did. I was so just enthralled with the backstory with Maggie. I didn't figure out the last name. Yeah, of course. Maggie in the middle of launching a, uh, somewhat of a lifestyle brand, I would, I guess you would call it kind of based on their unique knowledge and experience in life and, uh, their special insights, their wisdom, their skills that they can offer to people.

[00:44:56] Um, and so that's, she's really trying to get that up and going and, uh, you know, make it like her side hustle turn into like a real full hustle, which you would get if you had seen the last movie. Yeah. Yeah. Of course. Yeah. No. So her skills and, you know, her special unique skills are a big part of that. Yeah. Yeah. Great. What's it called? Well, her, well, her skills, you're probably wondering what her special skills are. I would love to know her special skills. They're really like providing like sage advice is like where her specialty, like coaching, educating.

[00:45:25] Spice is this has to do with spices. Yeah. Just all of sage instruction, uh, how to cook with it, how to cleanse with it, which is a big, big deal. Yeah. Of course. So Maggie just out there hustling. Uh, I don't know if she bought a truckload of sage and has to move it and because she's pushing the stage pretty hard and you get a pretty good discount with her sage. So, but she just knows a lot about it and has all this. She's got a lot of knowledge about it. Yeah. So if you're passing that along a hundred percent, so she's just calling it sage advice. She's not trying to get it.

[00:45:55] Well, it's she's going with, she's kind of like a nostalgic name. Yeah. If you will, it's sage and ain't so, and just really trying to, I will see you son. Yeah. Her name is Votrano. I bet I could come back around there. Anything you want from the Votra. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. And I gotta be honest. I was only half paying attention for something. Oh yeah. Get out of here. Crush that. The video would probably show that. Yeah.

[00:46:24] Well, we gotta do what we gotta do. We'll schedule. Say Janine so, brain. Say Janine so, I love it. Uh, we did it. Everybody, congratulations to us. Let's come back, uh, tomorrow for another episode. We will be back next Tuesday. Yeah, we will. Another mystery. After the Saturday movie. After the Saturday movie. Uh, true justice. That's right.
