[00:00:00] Hi, I'm Brandon. I love Prime Christmas movies

[00:00:05] Hi, I'm Jacks and I like Prime Christmas movies

[00:00:10] I'm Alonso and this Christmas. I hope Amazon workers everywhere form unions

[00:00:15] I'm Dan and everything Alonso said and this is the Deck The Hallmark Podcast

[00:00:33] For the amount of Amazon packages I get this time of year, I do feel like I should be in that union at this point

[00:00:47] It's just a lot they just park in between our houses

[00:00:49] They just stay there. They just have a the Amazon flex God just stays right at that telephone pole between our houses

[00:00:55] Just like it's good. Shucks them half the time we're getting your stuff

[00:00:58] We don't know what happened a full just a full kids big Christmas gift on our door

[00:01:02] I was like, Caitlin must have done that on purpose. No didn't happen. Just accidental, you know

[00:01:07] True story. Yeah, I got my kids all excited. I was like guys, this is not for you

[00:01:11] Wait that's so cute and wholesome you guys like it's like they're really friends. They really live by each other

[00:01:17] This is just for shall

[00:01:18] I should know your neighbors

[00:01:20] It's so funny. You've seen us in person a dozen times jacks like that

[00:01:24] You know, it's almost like you're doing this as a bit because we really do fight and we're mean to each other

[00:01:29] And you're trying to

[00:01:31] Propagate this this lie

[00:01:33] Stop stop it stop

[00:01:35] Stay on track, man

[00:01:36] Oh boy, how are we? How are we feeling where it's uh, it's december. Can you believe that to a December to remember?

[00:01:45] Um jacks, do you got any big uh christmas plans this year jacks?

[00:01:49] um

[00:01:50] I am going to england for a few days and then i'm going to pennsylvania for one day

[00:01:55] Pennsylvania the england of america. Yeah completely absolutely at the east coast at the very least the very least yes

[00:02:02] Um, there's an area of america called new england. You do know that right?

[00:02:09] Okay, just making sure right

[00:02:11] But they took that from pennsylvania

[00:02:13] They did they truly did um, but i'm not going to santa con like you guys. I wish I was having that experience

[00:02:19] What are you doing that weekend?

[00:02:21] I'm at christmas

[00:02:24] I we're not even gonna talk about

[00:02:27] My mom my mom when I told her she and my sister are very upset because they love you guys

[00:02:34] Um, I say this all the time, but my sister is particularly fond of alonzo. She's always asking about alonzo

[00:02:38] She loves all you guys, but um

[00:02:42] My mom was like they are celebrities

[00:02:45] It's like having free celebrities there and they're not gonna have them at christmas con

[00:02:50] We should be paying them to be there and I said

[00:02:53] agreed

[00:02:55] Well, you know even even us big time celebrities down here in south, jorlin

[00:02:59] Even big time celebrities done goof and we done goof. We done goof and then here we are today

[00:03:04] Here we are, uh, but it's it's all it's all gravy. It's all gravy over here needed us though

[00:03:10] That's the thing is they they needed us. Yeah to bring some civility to the precincts exactly right

[00:03:14] We're gonna keep everybody in line keep everybody in line what we're here for uh, alonzo. Do you have any big holiday plans?

[00:03:21] Uh, just uh tending to the post operative dave white and his brand new titanium hip who raved about you by the way

[00:03:29] Oh my as a caretaker talk about a paid sponsor a long

[00:03:33] On the

[00:03:37] That's right. You'll come to people's houses and you'll take care of them

[00:03:41] It's unbelievable

[00:03:43] Yeah, so you know spending it at home will have folks will drop by but like nothing super crazy

[00:03:49] Very nice. Yeah, we're not going to you know eating my ticket to new work, you know that kind of thing

[00:03:57] And that just the way it goes sometimes let's talk about candy cane lane shall we candy cane lane

[00:04:02] Originally aired on december 1st 2023

[00:04:06] And it went a little something like this

[00:04:09] Uh, chris carver. He loves christmas

[00:04:11] He decorates the outside of his house with handcrafted wooden figurines, which kind of love that

[00:04:19] They're great, but they are apparently they can't compete with the abundance of inflatables across the street at bruce's house

[00:04:27] Bruuuuus

[00:04:29] I don't know uh chris has a loving family

[00:04:34] The sweetest little girl another daughter who doesn't want to go to usc much to christis chagrin

[00:04:40] And a son who plays the tuba

[00:04:43] My god

[00:04:45] Mcnasty, that's exactly right and carol his loving wife

[00:04:49] He goes into work in a great mood singing the christmas tunes

[00:04:55] But then he gets fired. Oh boy

[00:04:57] He goes home

[00:04:58] He puts on a net cane coal record

[00:05:00] but not for long because he has to head on over to bruce's house for the kickoff of

[00:05:06] Candy cane lane. It's the candy cane lane

[00:05:10] It is the yearly

[00:05:12] Televised event showcasing sure they're televised. Okay. Okay. Okay. Uh, it's the best of the this area though the the candy cane lane area and uh

[00:05:22] This year there's a price

[00:05:25] Of a hundred thousand dollars

[00:05:27] Wow, so obviously chris grits right to work on improving his house because he could really use a hundred thousand dollars right about now

[00:05:34] So he stumbles upon a shop

[00:05:37] Under the overpass called kringles

[00:05:41] And he walks in and for your participation

[00:05:45] Thank you

[00:05:46] He walks in and it looks like the north pole. It looks amazing a random woman named pepper pops out of nowhere

[00:05:53] Um, he explains his situation how he's looking uh to get something that'll really

[00:05:59] Take the house down. Yes and by that I mean

[00:06:02] Not take the not take the house down, but just really impressed. I'm impressed. That's exactly how

[00:06:07] um, and so

[00:06:09] She shows him this giant 12 days of Christmas

[00:06:13] Like a tree. It's a

[00:06:16] Figurine and it's amazing and it rotates. It has a whole thing

[00:06:20] So he purchased it

[00:06:22] And signs purchase it he purchases it

[00:06:26] Signed his name at the bottom purchase it despite the fine print

[00:06:30] And uh some weird stuff like chirps and whatnot, but don't don't be alarmed. Uh, but the deal is done

[00:06:37] He comes home. It's like in a giant tuna can and uh

[00:06:42] Kind of straps it to the roof gets home opens it up

[00:06:45] And uh boop pops right on out. It says to make a wish

[00:06:49] Uh while rubbing uh the the uh the golden the golden uh

[00:06:54] Partridge in a pear tree

[00:06:56] And uh he's like that's weird. So he wishes for like the best Christmas ever. Um

[00:07:02] So

[00:07:04] It's now the time for the big Christmas light parade where santa comes down the you know candy cane lane

[00:07:10] In a fire truck pointing the houses the lights turn on

[00:07:14] Everybody's loving it. The t uh the whole thing's televised they get to chris's house

[00:07:18] The lights don't work at first but suddenly it turns on and the 12 days of christmas tree

[00:07:24] It it is a hit. It is bright a f

[00:07:28] It is it's just it make it's just all wild and it's spinning like crazy through the movie

[00:07:34] No, we're not it's spinning around like crazy

[00:07:37] So the next day he uh wakes up and he looks outside and he sees that all the ornaments are missing

[00:07:43] They're just like gaps where those figurines were and so he's like what is going on and then he sees

[00:07:49] There's actual geese in his back yards

[00:07:52] He decides to go back to kringles

[00:07:56] Kringles, thank you

[00:07:58] And uh ends up taking uh talking to these glass figurines that explain that he needs to collect all of the gold rings before

[00:08:09] Christmas eve

[00:08:10] If not, it's not going to be good. He immediately finds one outside

[00:08:15] But then gets a call from his wife. There are birds at her work. So he goes there tracks him down finds some

[00:08:22] Birds and also gets another ring. He uh goes to talk to the figurines again and

[00:08:28] Finds out all these figurines are cursed

[00:08:30] Pepper sold them all something gave him a challenge when the challenge wasn't complete

[00:08:35] They become the figurines. So that's what's at stake here, everybody

[00:08:38] They tell him that if he finds the other three rings the curse will be broken. Yeah, we love that

[00:08:43] he decides to

[00:08:45] Take the figurines and keep them

[00:08:48] Safe and also, you know, they can kind of help along the way

[00:08:51] The family gets brought in on this. They're helpful. They get a couple more gold rings

[00:08:58] Racing dealing with a cow in a music room, you know the kinds

[00:09:03] But here's the situation time is of the essence. You know, yeah time is running out

[00:09:07] It's time and it's uh, they're gonna be announcing the big winner

[00:09:12] And there's still a ring short

[00:09:15] Santa ends up showing up out of nowhere didn't see that coming. He is not pleased with pepper

[00:09:22] But here's the thing

[00:09:23] They end up finding the fifth ring and that's when the twist is revealed the figurines keep saying

[00:09:29] She's gonna do some she always does something and that something is this

[00:09:34] It's not just the five golden rings

[00:09:37] It's the five golden rings for every day quick math 12 times five

[00:09:42] 60 but they only 80 90 100 times eight is 40. They need 40 rings, but then 70

[00:09:51] No

[00:09:52] It dated 40 rings everybody. That's what they need

[00:09:55] And they're quickly running out of time. They have the five they needed 35 then so santa

[00:09:59] Helps where he can but he can only do so much. So he's like snapping and stuff and causing like

[00:10:06] But there's only so much that he can do because of the signed contract obviously

[00:10:10] So the family's running around they're finding rings where they can

[00:10:13] Ultimately though chris runs out of time. He becomes a figurine the clock strikes

[00:10:18] They are two ring shorts and they realize that their wedding rings make 40 and ain't that just the sweetest thing

[00:10:26] So he comes back to life. But what about the other figurines? Well, it turns out that the youngest daughter

[00:10:32] Made a santa wish her christmas wish was that the figurines would come back to life

[00:10:38] And while santa can't do anything for just any reason a christmas wish he grants those

[00:10:45] So they come back to life. They're all so happy christmas families celebrate christmas together

[00:10:50] They end up winning the contest, but the 100 000 is actually just a hundred grand worth of tacos

[00:10:56] And that my friends was candy kaylay

[00:11:03] We did it we did do it. We're gonna take a quick break. We're gonna come back

[00:11:07] We're gonna break this movie down with four segments here on deck the hallmark

[00:11:17] So you've probably heard about micro dosing and if you haven't just know

[00:11:21] That all sorts of people around the world are micro dosing daily to feel healthier and to perform better

[00:11:28] Yeah, dan. I I love the micro dose and here's the thing if you know me

[00:11:32] You know that I tend to be a little bit all over the place. I think that's fair to say

[00:11:36] I'll start on one thing and then I'll think about another thing

[00:11:38] I say I should take care of that thing and before you know it neither one's done sounds like brand

[00:11:42] And I don't know what to do about it. That's where micro dose came in because they helped me with just slowing down

[00:11:48] Putting my phone to the side just enjoying where I am and also focusing on

[00:12:26] dth

[00:12:33] Welcome back everybody we're talking about candy cane lane

[00:12:36] Eddie murphy. I don't even know if we mentioned it. Yeah, that's kind of a big deal

[00:12:39] He doesn't do movies often. He's the star of this flick. Yeah, we're doing a daniel day louis christopher

[00:12:46] It's gonna be all

[00:12:49] 30

[00:12:50] Let's talk about it candy cane lane jacks. Let's start with you. What did you think of primes entry into the christmas?

[00:12:58] Um, let me just say first that when you were doing the recap, which good job on that by the way very thorough

[00:13:03] When you said he went wished for the best christmas ever

[00:13:06] I like had flashbacks to the last time he met which is when we

[00:13:11] Reviewed best christmas ever which was not

[00:13:15] But I feel like what this has in common with that movie is that

[00:13:19] This was a wild ride totally unique. It was like what is happening

[00:13:24] I don't understand how this can be but it was in a delightful way rather than being horrified

[00:13:30] Of course, we have eddie murphy who yes, you know comedy legend and

[00:13:35] You would think that it would just be enough to cast him in this role

[00:13:39] But they have tracy ellis ross who is oh my goodness like honestly

[00:13:47] To she was my favorite part of the movie

[00:13:49] Um and daniel pinnack who was amazing too

[00:13:52] Everyone was great in this but you really could have just cast his wife

[00:13:56] Is like the the straight person in this um to have him playing off of her

[00:14:01] But they had them going toe to toe. They were so funny

[00:14:05] I thought jillian bell was hilarious as pepper. We have david allen greer like I was

[00:14:12] The whole time

[00:14:13] Like twitter painted from start to finish. I love this movie. It's my favorite of the season so far

[00:14:19] Even a little bit ahead of santa summitt on hallmark

[00:14:23] My favorite of the season so far. Have you seen bill more? Have you seen bill more yet?

[00:14:27] Yeah, and I repeat my favorite of the season

[00:14:31] I love no bill more was delightful joy lenses great

[00:14:35] Uh pilaha was doing his thing the jimmy stewart voice. I love the bill more. It was gorgeous, but I I liked this better

[00:14:42] All right, there you have it. Uh, alonzo. What did you think?

[00:14:45] I was really charmed by this. Um, we've seen like hallmark movies where they try and incorporate the 12 days of Christmas

[00:14:52] And it's sort of clunky and they get kind of caught up in the

[00:14:56] In the mechanics of it because they're doing it, you know without a ton of cg

[00:15:00] Which this movie has the option to do and they really kind of play around with us like the french hens are all wearing berets

[00:15:05] You know, they're just goofy sight gags like that. I agree eddie murphy and tracy ells ross had really a fun

[00:15:12] Dynamic, you know kind of couple dynamic and comedy dynamic

[00:15:16] Um, yeah, I I was thoroughly charmed by this

[00:15:20] Strong cast I thought it had fun ideas

[00:15:23] And it you know, it sets up a thing where you're like I wasn't sure if they were going to pull it off

[00:15:29] But by the end of it. I felt like they'd pulled it off

[00:15:32] Um, so I I love uh this type of eddie murphy

[00:15:36] Aaron and I were bonding over our mutual love of daddy daycare

[00:15:41] Where eddie murphy is surrounded by chaos. They didn't deserve to go to a movie theater anymore

[00:15:48] Fair but my wriggle unlimited

[00:15:49] The family movie era of eddie murphy is really where he comes in

[00:15:54] Exactly right. That's exactly right. That's a nice

[00:15:57] That's a nice bold

[00:15:59] um

[00:16:01] So obviously this I I loved seeing him in this

[00:16:05] I and I love the idea of this movie and I thought it looked amazing

[00:16:09] There was a lot going like I and I now want this

[00:16:12] Christmas tree 12 days of Christmas spinny

[00:16:15] Uh spotlight thing I will say for me the figurines of it all didn't really work

[00:16:21] Like I almost and the pepper of it all didn't work for me. I almost wish

[00:16:25] That the 12 days of Christmas happened

[00:16:28] In a way that didn't involve that whole like you're gonna be

[00:16:35] What's that?

[00:16:36] Chris red being

[00:16:39] Hilarious and the lethargy

[00:16:42] Guys, I just I'm just saying how I felt I just wait to your opinion. I'm so sorry. There was just uh, there was two

[00:16:49] apologize checks don't do it

[00:16:52] Bad and so are you

[00:16:55] I'm just saying it just felt like it was a bit just felt like it went on a little longer than I needed it

[00:17:01] This guy loved letters to santa. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah

[00:17:05] So, you know, we can see we can see that the objectivity is a little skewed

[00:17:11] I can do what I want. I could say what I want to

[00:17:14] I did really like this movie and I would happily watch it again

[00:17:18] Yeah, you know, uh, yeah, this is an embarrassment of riches

[00:17:22] On and off screen. Uh, reginald hudlin who has produced and directed some like absolute classics

[00:17:29] Like the original friday. He was a producer on or like the third good marshal movie with

[00:17:36] Chadwick Boseman, which is great. Um, he's directing here eddie murphy michael's taken over lindy's

[00:17:42] Yeah, of course, michael's an amazing movie

[00:17:44] He didn't end up taking over lindy's. He did. No, he didn't. No, but that's why it's in the title

[00:17:49] It isn't it isn't the title they they thought michael needed to come in to save lindy's the bar obviously

[00:17:54] Yes, uh, they didn't need him. They didn't need him. So he isn't and he didn't he started to but he didn't

[00:18:00] But he did it's a misleading title a missing title. This is my favorite eddie murphy

[00:18:06] He was taking it over. Yes, of course, but ultimately he didn't need to got it. I got it understood

[00:18:11] um, my favorite version of eddie murphy is the

[00:18:14] The dude who is trying to play the straight man

[00:18:17] But the intensity of the the ludicrous situation gets the best of him in spurts

[00:18:22] Like a daddy daycare and like no daddy daycare

[00:18:25] He's just wide-eyed and like you mean to tell me where to keep these kids all the time

[00:18:29] Whereas in this movie

[00:18:30] He's trying to be like I lost my job a blah blah blah and then it gets so crazy that he has these outbursts

[00:18:36] He's such a good actor and comedically. He's so gifted but listen around him

[00:18:42] You mentioned some of them jacks david allen greer jillian bell tracy ellis ross chris red

[00:18:47] Ken marino like comedy like legend ken marino

[00:18:52] timothy simons from veep

[00:18:54] Everybody in there's there's it's an embarrassment of riches on on screen off the screen

[00:18:59] It looks like a movie made for the theater. It is definitely a little bit overstuffed

[00:19:04] Uh for one of these movies. I feel like there's anyone want to say anything to dan

[00:19:08] No, wait anybody want to say anything about like how dare you there were there were four or five plot lines here that all could have made a

[00:19:15] Solid christmas movie and they went with all four or five

[00:19:18] So I'm saying and they and that's because they had so many actors there doing their thing

[00:19:23] Um, and so yeah, I would have pared it down a little bit

[00:19:26] But from an entertainment perspective

[00:19:28] Qualitatively the movie making qualities off the charts off the from an entertainment perspective

[00:19:33] My wife doesn't get anywhere near a hallmark movie

[00:19:35] She watched this with me last night and at one point with the figurine

[00:19:38] She was like this is kind of terrifying and she wanted to know what was going to happen

[00:19:44] So yeah, it's a fun time and anytime you get eddie murphy

[00:19:48] Doing his thing. I think it's a fun time unless it's obviously daddy

[00:19:51] I sounds like you need to take it back to the tape for daddy daycare put that on the list for next year

[00:19:55] Of course

[00:19:56] Thank goodness. I think it's always do any murphy month cover pluto nash and we have blast

[00:20:02] Let's uh meet dave. That's right. Let's talk about all the feels we're talking about what in this movie gave us his feels jacks

[00:20:10] My gosh, I loved these kids and they didn't need a coach on set these three kids

[00:20:16] I thought were absolutely maybe they did have a coach, but so they were fantastic

[00:20:21] I will say I love the relationship

[00:20:24] Between tracy elas ross and eddie murphy. I thought it was really

[00:20:29] grounded in that kind of

[00:20:31] Love that you can just tell they're in each other's corner. It's not overly romantic or like saccharine

[00:20:37] But it's really grounded and like people who've been together a long time and love each other

[00:20:42] But also like each other um and then the other feel I had I mean I had lots of feels I really really love this

[00:20:48] but um

[00:20:51] I'm loving these newscasters daniel pinnick who's one half of hashtag booked. I just want to keep I never seen her before

[00:20:59] So for anyone who's an actor or who likes to laugh

[00:21:03] Um, there's this comedy duo called hashtag booked on instagram

[00:21:07] And it's danielle and her comedy partner and they talk about all this like acting stuff

[00:21:12] And then sorry, what is it guys timothy simons timothy simons?

[00:21:15] So I thought they were great and at the end when we have david allen greer's black santa and we're all excited and he's like

[00:21:22] I don't see color

[00:21:28] Yeah, it was the funniest moment of the movie

[00:21:30] It really was and like not preachy but also that thing of like, you know

[00:21:34] misguided white people which has been won in slam in many ways. I just thought it was really really funny

[00:21:39] Alonzo

[00:21:41] Yeah, the the comedy is solid here the joke where they go to walmart and all the christmas decorations are gone

[00:21:46] But there's aisles of valentine's day stuff. Yeah

[00:21:49] Um, the tree itself like I love the tree in a can

[00:21:53] It's like the giant version of the thing they do and miss christmas comes to town

[00:21:57] But I I have to say I got kind of thrilled because I didn't see it coming

[00:22:02] You have this tree that has these these round images all around that have like the 12 drummers drumming or the you know

[00:22:08] The nine ladies dance whoever but when they spin around it's like the original sort of

[00:22:15] Zo praxinoscope like the the the thing that where motion pictures were created

[00:22:19] Where they would spin the thing in a circle and you would see the photos move

[00:22:22] And so the geese fly and the mill the maids milk or whatever and I was like, oh, oh, that's so great

[00:22:28] I didn't see that coming. That was thrilling really genius. I'm really mad. It doesn't exist yet like

[00:22:35] I know somebody needs to produce that thing and also as somebody who cannot stand pentatonix

[00:22:42] I love with the running joke of this movie is everyone telling pentatonix to shut up and stop singing

[00:22:46] Yeah, and when they become real pentatonix, it's like, yeah, stop it. No

[00:22:51] When they become real pentatonix at the end of this movie and they get told to shut up and they're in on the joke

[00:22:56] It made me respect them more somehow like I was like

[00:22:59] a little bit

[00:23:01] They know how annoying they are that's fantastic. Yeah

[00:23:05] um

[00:23:06] There is a house uh as they're going around first of all the idea of having a

[00:23:12] A street that is decorated for christmas and they do a

[00:23:15] A night where they all turn them on and say in this point in the lights and it's turned on

[00:23:19] Amazing magical. There's a sugar ray house. There's a house that uses sugar ray

[00:23:25] And I've I've never thought

[00:23:28] I've never thought I couldn't believe it to do it

[00:23:31] But now that's my goal for next year. I've never been one of those people that everybody like, you know

[00:23:37] The the moving lights to the songs. It's nice

[00:23:40] But I also there's something beautiful about the static but now we're talking about sugar, right?

[00:23:44] We're talking sugar. We're talking sugar. Sugar rays in the mix

[00:23:47] Listen, there is a row of trees in between brandon eyes house and our houses are separated by maybe 12 feet

[00:23:53] And in those 12 feet, there's a row of little trees

[00:23:56] It's going to cost like $2,000 to get them all out of the ground. They're causing all kinds of problems in our house

[00:24:01] We need to get them down

[00:24:02] We don't have that money if somebody wants to pay the $2,000 to get the tree get the trees down

[00:24:07] I will do a coordinated sugar ray christmas house with brandon

[00:24:11] It's just $2,000 to get the trees out of the way

[00:24:14] What are the lights after the facts?

[00:24:15] That's a proud sourcing thing you got to make that happen. I believe in you

[00:24:18] Yeah, yeah, yeah

[00:24:19] Take our trees down

[00:24:20] Um, uh, yeah, mark my words in the third haul out the holly movie next year

[00:24:26] Lacey she bears gonna have a whole nickel back yard

[00:24:30] Great would it have been if chad kroger showed up at the end of the haul of the holly too

[00:24:34] Like just to like at the contest to be like yeah, I'm on jane's side

[00:24:38] Or like, you know, they get to the proposal and he's just with a

[00:24:41] Look at this photo cry

[00:24:48] If that's not romantic, I don't know what it is

[00:24:50] You don't know what is I

[00:24:54] I'll say this we did a preview episode for these these movies. We did jacks was not there

[00:24:59] It was the day of the marathon. I remember very little of it

[00:25:04] I am

[00:25:05] 99% sure I need to take it to the tape that you did in the synopsis for this movie

[00:25:10] Tell us that the 12 days of christmas come to life

[00:25:12] And I probably said something to the effect of sounds like a great idea

[00:25:16] When I watched this movie, I had forgotten that

[00:25:19] I had complete I didn't know what the movie was about at all

[00:25:23] And when I saw the giant tree

[00:25:26] I would it all like flooded back to me and I was like

[00:25:29] Bro eddie murphy the 12 days of christmas are coming to life

[00:25:33] And all of a sudden I was very invested in what was about to happen and that moment when the tree popped up

[00:25:39] That was my feels that's what I got. I love it

[00:25:42] What what a like a set piece that giant can the budget for this

[00:25:46] Like wow, I mean they they there's a lot of money being spent here

[00:25:51] Ron Howard produced this thing. Yeah, exactly. This is major. Let's uh, let's take a quick break. We'll come back with the way what and the uh

[00:25:58] prime

[00:25:59] for questioning

[00:26:01] Prime the pump prime TV prime time

[00:27:23] Welcome back where I'm inquiries prime inquiries. Yes, I can't say that

[00:27:29] Inquiries of I know what it is. I just can't say it. There's too many vowels

[00:27:33] Inquiries

[00:27:35] I struggle with the words with uh an abundant cut it right there. I struggle with the words is all we needed

[00:27:40] Inquiries print that

[00:27:42] Inquiries say it inquiries inquiries. No, you know what it is tricky because the the the non plural

[00:27:50] Stingular is inquiry. So inquiries is difficult to say. Oh my gosh inquiries

[00:27:57] In the middle. I give you classic jack's trying to make you feel better. You ready?

[00:28:01] Inquiries

[00:28:03] You said inquiries

[00:28:06] Inquiries take it. I'll accept it. Yeah. Yeah increase. Can we move on?

[00:28:10] Uh, it's time for way what's where we're talking about what in this movie. Let's go way what?

[00:28:15] Jacks

[00:28:17] um

[00:28:18] My two biggest ones were the fact that you know, we have this family with these three kids that are like

[00:28:24] As close to perfect as you can get

[00:28:27] And their parents are upset that the kid plays the tuba and isn't doing well in math and that the daughter wants to go to

[00:28:33] Noter Dame instead of usc. I get that it's like a

[00:28:36] Legacy thing, but but still I was like

[00:28:39] I will

[00:28:41] What I did not have many in this movie jacks and one of mine is

[00:28:45] That this father is upset that noter dame is recruiting his daughter

[00:28:52] Like the noter dame in south band bend indiana like academic like institution

[00:28:58] Very famous athletic institution. Not that she's going broody most importantly. Yeah, like Rudy's rolling in his grave

[00:29:06] legitimately this dad is upset that this

[00:29:08] Noter dame scout would just be interested in in his daughter to run track and get a scholarship

[00:29:15] I couldn't I get it you're the southern cal fame

[00:29:18] But I just my look my dad did not let my oldest sister leave town for college

[00:29:24] She had to go to embery in atlanta and like she was around a lot

[00:29:28] Like they got more chill as they got because they went through more kids

[00:29:32] And the kids he likes less like you you go far away

[00:29:36] You do whatever

[00:29:40] But he just lost his job if noter dame offers her a full ride. He's upset about that

[00:29:46] I just I think the legacy thing is part of it. But also the I want you know

[00:29:49] With the you could come home for dinner every night like there are parents who are very like

[00:29:53] Cool to their kids that way and that's which makes the kids want to go to carolina or no-name or wherever as far away as they can get

[00:30:00] You know, whereas brian harrell just can't wait for his kids to move far away from home

[00:30:06] I haven't heard yet, but they're so cute

[00:30:09] All the feels is I can't wait for my kids to move a long way away so I can go see him and try all the restaurants and stuff

[00:30:16] That's a real thing. He said out loud

[00:30:18] Seriously, but that sounds so wholesome to him that he can see him and try all the restaurants

[00:30:23] And it's good that they haven't recorded so they can take it to the therapist with them

[00:30:28] Yeah, because you know, I only have to see him once a year. So that's a right

[00:30:32] I'll just once b then they can pick out all the restaurants and then I'll get to try them all

[00:30:39] brian

[00:30:42] Kick it kick it on up the road, buddy

[00:30:44] I have one more is that the the made of milking was like straight up

[00:30:49] Felt pornographic to me. It did feel not this movie was pg and the the made of milking was

[00:30:56] A made a milking it was it was the emphasis was on all of those things and and and

[00:31:03] There's no getting around it. It was a choice. It was a choice to make to make that scene slightly sexy and it was weird

[00:31:14] Uh, alonzo because that child is still in high school

[00:31:21] I wasn't sure if our maid was legal or not either

[00:31:25] It was weird. It was a weird things. I want to say but listen

[00:31:28] If there's a tuba people people can't contain themselves. I know I played the tuba

[00:31:35] nasty for no reason

[00:31:39] So yeah, one of mine was the the whole thing with the dad

[00:31:42] But like you oh nobody made a career playing the tuba

[00:31:44] I'm like, have you heard of a symphony orchestra?

[00:31:47] Because they all have a tuba player

[00:31:50] At least on call and maybe he's not there every day

[00:31:53] But like, you know, they've got to have one on retainer nonetheless

[00:31:55] So the other thing for me and again, I usually when when a movie involves santa and magical elves like wait

[00:32:02] What's kind of go out the window?

[00:32:04] Pentatonix does not know the tune of the holly in the ivy

[00:32:08] Yes

[00:32:09] You're right when when they do the snippets of the songs that match the kids names

[00:32:13] They I don't know what they were singing for holly in the ivy. It was like we wish you a merry christmas or something

[00:32:18] But it's like that's not there's an actual song that you're referencing here and your tune is completely off the charts

[00:32:25] Maybe they'd

[00:32:26] Like uh have a version and that's how they did it like maybe how they how they just do whatever they want to and make christmas songs out of nothing

[00:32:34] Maybe that's what they did with that

[00:32:36] Could be that's all I got

[00:32:38] Um, obviously. Yeah, it's tough to have have the wood to homework. I

[00:32:43] They can wait once or wait. What yeah, that's what I mean

[00:32:46] There have been a this isn't just this movie. There have been a couple of homework movies too where I am

[00:32:52] constantly anticipating

[00:32:53] A song to be played

[00:32:56] That has something to do with the title of the movie and this movie for the last month

[00:33:00] I've been listening to see his candy can lad

[00:33:05] And I kept waiting

[00:33:08] And I'm still waiting this I think the only movie youtube is gonna copyright

[00:33:18] Get the tube out or something

[00:33:21] Like just disappointed I think the only movie so far that's delivered is where are you christmas and like that's the worst of the once

[00:33:29] So uh, hold out the holly does throw in that's true

[00:33:33] That's true christmas. That's right. You need a little christmas. They didn't do uh, they didn't do it with ha

[00:33:39] And do that there was a couple there was another one that I kept waiting for so, um, that's it

[00:33:44] So obviously not many going on here, but that's my biggest complaint. I'm still waiting for singing to show up

[00:33:48] Yeah, uh, it it turns out that the hundred thousand dollars is actually tacos or something

[00:33:53] But I when I heard the prize and I saw the houses all I could think was they're still losing money

[00:33:59] Like a lot of these people have spent

[00:34:02] More than that to win

[00:34:05] The money that doesn't even cover it. I mean that's such a small prize house decorating is

[00:34:11] Crazy, you could spin that easily and you had these decorations still but I immediately was like what's going on

[00:34:17] It takes him entirely too long to put together that the ornaments have come to life

[00:34:22] I mean if you if if you're

[00:34:26] Attacked by six geese a laying. I think if there are swans swimming in your backyard

[00:34:32] You might be a redneck. Do you think you do?

[00:34:35] Let me ask you dad as someone who doesn't believe in christmas magic

[00:34:38] If you bought this thing and you come out the next day and they're missing from there

[00:34:43] And you go in your backyard and the swans are there are you immediately jumping to the confusion

[00:34:48] The swans I would say no, okay swans by itself or no it takes him for yeah

[00:34:53] He doesn't his wife causing like these geese are laying eggs

[00:34:58] On me

[00:34:59] And and he still is like nah

[00:35:02] Like the two turtle doves are connected by a ring and he's like that's kind of weird

[00:35:06] And then all of a sudden his daughter and him are like

[00:35:08] Do you think the ornaments may have come to life?

[00:35:11] Do you think so?

[00:35:14] She I'm immediately picking up on it with swans. I'm going back there and being like this all makes sense

[00:35:21] I've dreamt of this before

[00:35:23] The normal response is the one after swans. I think that is when you should figure it out

[00:35:28] Um, this is low hanging fruit because this is as hallmark as this movie gets but she does tracielis ross

[00:35:34] Gets the you got the job phone call on christmas morning and and uh

[00:35:39] He don't nobody's calling then I don't please don't just if I'm getting a job. Just let me wait a day

[00:35:46] How'd you love the way they sort of negate that when kem Reno tries to hug her and she's like i'm good

[00:35:53] Yeah, I love that

[00:35:55] Oh man, and can I do have a question here? What?

[00:35:59] What century is pip supposed to be from?

[00:36:02] um a dickens

[00:36:04] I mean like do we do we think like when when it's like, okay, everybody go back to your normal lives

[00:36:09] It's like is everyone he knows dead. Yeah, I don't I don't know

[00:36:14] I I will say this which that leads to my last one of all of the talent on screen

[00:36:19] Ken marino and nick offerman are wasted the most

[00:36:22] I don't think it's particularly close in that regard because nick offerman

[00:36:26] I don't know if it was a choice or what they asked but I think in prep

[00:36:30] He watched like one day of christian bail doing alfred bordin on the prestige and was like i've got it

[00:36:36] I'll take it from here and I immediately could hear it and go that's nick offerman doing a british accent

[00:36:42] I don't know that was a weird to me. That was a wait. What why did you hire nick offerman?

[00:36:47] To do this. He's a very capable talented actor. This was a weird situation here

[00:36:53] I don't know shortage of british dudes in hollywood picking up all the acting jobs

[00:36:56] No, no, no you've got plenty there and I thought that was that was kind of weird and different and that that is all I have

[00:37:03] I oh, I do want to say this you said the kids were all great

[00:37:05] I meant to shout out daddy is j mixon the son eddie murphy's son in this movie

[00:37:10] He plays young adonis creed and creed three the kid is just a phenomenal actor like he's

[00:37:16] He's special like he's really good and i'm really looking forward to see what he does in the future

[00:37:21] When he says that he's good at math and his mom is like

[00:37:28] He's like 40. He's like a math. Is that what you guys call calculus? They're like that's addition or that's multiplication

[00:37:34] That'll see was great. It did strike a little bit too close to home, but I

[00:37:40] I did love it. Um, it's time for prime inquiries. Uh, that's where we talk about any questions and query

[00:37:47] Do both

[00:37:49] It's where we talk about any questions that we still have uh jacks. What are you uh querying about?

[00:37:55] I think I do have a lot of

[00:37:58] curiosities and queries over, you know how they put together this um,

[00:38:03] $100,000 prize package

[00:38:05] But my favorite one was that it was five

[00:38:08] Five dollars for a planet fitness day pass when the entire month of plan of fitness is ten dollars

[00:38:13] That's right. So I wish we would have seen like eddie murphy going and utilizing that

[00:38:18] That would have been fun on the free pizza and bagel day because nothing says

[00:38:22] Stay in fit like pizza and bagels and I mean that carbs are good for you people

[00:38:26] Don't be afraid. This is a fat phobic society and culture and we do not want to perpetuate that it took a turn

[00:38:31] And I loved it jacks. Thank you so much. Thank you. Thanks for uh getting there eventually

[00:38:37] Oh, hey, the your jacket's back. What's going on with that jacket?

[00:38:41] Jacqueline 15 is the code queen of sparkles if you guys

[00:38:45] Jacqueline 15 queen of sparkles and it's j a c k l y in one five

[00:38:51] I'm not being paid for this

[00:38:53] Truly, uh, but if you do want a discount code, I didn't get this for free just to be on the up and up

[00:38:58] But not getting paid. It doesn't help me if you sparkle, but

[00:39:01] It helps the world

[00:39:03] It does help the world helps the world helps all of us. Oh, that's exactly yes. That is

[00:39:08] Oh, yes

[00:39:11] Alonzo any queries? Well, since we're showing sparkle. I wanted to let the

[00:39:16] audience enjoy

[00:39:18] Our our vintage six foot aluminum tree

[00:39:21] With vintage ornaments

[00:39:25] No, no light on it, but we do have a color wheel that we can whip out so you know, it's the whole package

[00:39:30] Um, my wait, what is my sorry my what the my prime inquiry is

[00:39:35] Yeah, get there eventually

[00:39:37] So when all seems lost

[00:39:40] For eddie murphy's character and he gives those really moving speeches to his family about

[00:39:45] Accepting what they want to do and how they want to blah blah blah now that he's back and okay

[00:39:52] Is he gonna stick to that or is he gonna rescind? What do we think?

[00:39:55] I thought I was going to be a figurine when I said that

[00:39:59] Back to being a present father change. Yeah, that's funny

[00:40:03] Um, speaking of real quick christmas and phylo, uh, dame, we do a show called phylo deep dive. We do and tomorrow

[00:40:10] We have a christmas christmas episodes coming out. That's a lot of fun full of fun fun christmasy things you can find on phylo

[00:40:17] How they celebrate christmas down on the body

[00:40:19] Oh

[00:40:21] Give us what it will give us the what was eating oyster. What's the what do they say though? What's the style?

[00:40:27] Uh, it's uh

[00:40:29] Is swamp style and I can't

[00:40:31] It's just listen to the rest tomorrow. It's offensive phylo.tv slash dth. Yes phylo deep dive. Come on. Hang out. It's a fun time

[00:40:39] um, so

[00:40:41] Obviously pepper has been at it for a while. This is gonna be mine. Go ahead. This is gonna be great

[00:40:47] I think there's a lot of ways you can go about it mine is

[00:40:51] Is this like a

[00:40:54] How did it all come together? So this seems like it was meant for she's like lucifer. She was cast out of the north pole

[00:41:01] But it seems like it was made this year

[00:41:04] Eddie murphy was Eddie murphy christ was the chosen one like

[00:41:07] Chris was the like was he the only one that could find crinkles like was he the only one that could have possibly

[00:41:14] Fallen into this or does she just randomly pick?

[00:41:17] um

[00:41:18] Under an overpass in a random part of the world every year and just kind of see how it shakes out

[00:41:23] Because it seemed like it was very specific to him and kind of what he was looking for and uh

[00:41:29] Other people show up thinking it's a spirit halloween

[00:41:32] My version of it is is that like our is our pepper and cringles tied together

[00:41:37] Or is cringles something people can find and not necessarily get pepper right? So like is it is it?

[00:41:43] I mean no one else is ever there but she running the store and just

[00:41:47] Suckering people or is she showing up occasionally to suck her a specifically chosen individual

[00:41:54] Uh that that is or is it does it just end of the movie might answer that maybe

[00:41:59] Yeah, yeah, I guess I guess

[00:42:01] A little a little uh, we did everybody congratulations

[00:42:05] Uh next monday dash in through the snow on the disney plus. Is that the name of the movie dashing through the snow dashing?

[00:42:11] Yes dashing through the snow

[00:42:13] excited about that one luda and
