Half day. Because all the parents love a half day. It's so convenient. It's the best. It's so easy for us. So convenient for that. That's the thing you don't think about when you're a kid is just how inconvenient you are. Yeah. That your general existence is a tough go. It's a tough go.

[00:01:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Parent of the year this year. And it's going great. I'm doing great. I'm doing great. All I've had to do is keep my mouth shut. You're just moving up the rankings.

[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_01]: There's nothing worse than a half day. A half day is brutal. There's nothing worse. Maybe a remote day. A little maybe worse. But I know. A half day is just the amount of time. It interrupts everything. Yeah.

[00:05:13] [SPEAKER_05]: The movie starts in the ER where, as usual, all doctors are in good moods and they're super chill.

[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Hannah is an ER doctor and takes the lead on a Christmas patient brought in by Paramedic

[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_05]: Wes.

[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_05]: After a heart shift, Hannah roams Philly while Jason Kelsey sings to us.

[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_05]: She gets home where she lives alone.

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_05]: Her neighbor insists that she eats some manicotti.

[00:05:39] [SPEAKER_05]: And if you think it's the last time we're going to hear about that.

[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Don't play a drinking game.

[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_05]: She talks to her dad who, uh-oh, is also a doctor and also encourages her to eat some,

[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_05]: you guessed it, manicotti.

[00:05:51] [SPEAKER_05]: Manicotti.

[00:05:52] [SPEAKER_05]: Paramedic Wes is great at his job and is training rookie Julia.

[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Julia.

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_05]: She's feeling frazzled on her first day, but he's so calming and encouraging.

[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_05]: We then meet Officer Sanjay.

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_05]: He has a mustache and is awesome.

[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_05]: He is talking to Danielle about how she ghosted him after the New Year's Eve party last year.

[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_05]: Turns out they're going to be partners while her normal partner is on paternity leave.

[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_05]: They deal with some heavy-hitting Philly crimes such as two neighbors arguing about Christmas decor.

[00:06:24] [SPEAKER_05]: Wes is thrilled.

[00:06:26] [SPEAKER_05]: When he brings a kid to the hospital, because that means he gets to see Hannah again.

[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_05]: He remembers her from the other night and invites her to help him decorate a house for Christmas,

[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_05]: which he and the other EMS team are decorating.

[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_05]: They meet up and bond over stitch techniques, as one does.

[00:06:43] [SPEAKER_05]: They walk through the streets of Philly.

[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_05]: They have the best time, and they agree to do it again soon.

[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Sanjay and Danielle end up having a great time together.

[00:06:53] [SPEAKER_05]: She's about to ask him if he's going to the ball.

[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_05]: But then Sanjay's girlfriend shows up, and she's like, oh, I see.

[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_05]: So we're not going to talk about that.

[00:07:05] [SPEAKER_05]: Wes goes to meet Hannah at her apartment for dinner and to decorate her tree, but she never shows up.

[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_05]: She got held up at work.

[00:07:13] [SPEAKER_05]: She feels awful, and they make up the next day by talking like adults.

[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_05]: It's a new thing.

[00:07:20] [SPEAKER_05]: You should try it.

[00:07:21] [SPEAKER_05]: He then takes her to get her first Philly cheesesteak made by Donna Kelsey, the MVP of Countdown to Christmas.

[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_03]: No.

[00:08:45] [SPEAKER_05]: We have a fire budget, everybody.

[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_05]: We have a fire budget.

[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_05]: The chief runs in to said fire, but Wes can tell that something bad is going on, and so he runs in.

[00:08:56] [SPEAKER_05]: No equipment needed, and fireman carries the chief right out of that building.

[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_05]: They rush to get him to the ER where Hannah is working.

[00:09:05] [SPEAKER_05]: She saves his life.

[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_05]: Sanjay realizes that he had the wrong number for Danielle this whole time, so that's why she was never texting him back.

[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_05]: She asks him to the New Year's Eve ball, and he answers with a kiss.

[00:09:17] [SPEAKER_05]: Hannah goes to talk to Wes, and they end up sharing a big kiss as well, and then they both get called back to their jobs.

[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_03]: And then everybody was like, well, Donna Kelsey is going to be in it, blah, blah, blah.

[00:18:48] [SPEAKER_03]: It might be filmed in Philadelphia.

[00:18:52] [SPEAKER_03]: This movie couldn't have been less Philadelphia.

[00:18:54] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't like my big, the thing that I loved about this movie was it didn't feel like a Hallmark movie.

[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_03]: It felt like a, a basically a 24 to 48 hour movie where these people are all kind of crossing paths and the two leads had good chemistry.

[00:19:11] [SPEAKER_03]: And I love all of that.

[00:19:13] [SPEAKER_03]: But unlike New York city where it just comes to the territory, New York city is such a big deal that New York city is going to be staged in Canada in 10 of these movies every year.

[00:19:22] [SPEAKER_03]: And you get used to it and New Yorkers just laugh it off.

[00:19:25] [SPEAKER_03]: I just felt offended on behalf of everyone from Philadelphia for a number of reasons.

[00:19:31] [SPEAKER_03]: What, but this movie doesn't even like try.

[00:19:36] [SPEAKER_03]: And when they do try to be Philadelphia, it's worse.

[00:19:42] [SPEAKER_03]: There are some really cringe worthy scenes here where if they were actually in Philadelphia, holy cow, this movie has something, but they're not.

[00:19:52] [SPEAKER_03]: They may have had some establishing shots, but there's no world where this movie takes place in a town that is so specific in its environment and in its people that it's unmistakable.

[00:20:04] [SPEAKER_03]: And because of that, the movie never feels as fully realized as it should to me that now the chemistry that leads is good.

[00:35:24] [SPEAKER_05]: nurse that works at this um er and she does a facetime with her daughter who is um in army and is

[00:35:34] [SPEAKER_05]: deployed this is wild and she says to her daughter i know i don't tell you this enough but i'm proud

[00:35:40] [SPEAKER_05]: of you why not why do you not tell your daughter who is serving in our military that you are proud

[00:35:50] [SPEAKER_05]: of her every single day i yeah my if my kid puts his shoe on i go i'm proud of you bud like he's not

[00:35:57] [SPEAKER_05]: even fighting for our country what is wrong with this mom that's right where every every minute of

[00:36:03] [SPEAKER_03]: every day she's not like man my i'm so proud of her also think about her thinking about that like her

[00:36:08] [SPEAKER_03]: the mom it's like friday and she gets home from a long shift and she's like i haven't told my kid

[00:36:13] [SPEAKER_05]: i'm proud of him in months she has a calendar of it for sure even i just like wild uh you don't want

[00:36:55] [SPEAKER_05]: for like longer than a day i walk in i start tearing up yeah this mom is a monster and i just

[00:37:01] [SPEAKER_05]: want it on the record um and i don't know maybe this is a hot take but the um our our guy wes shows up

[00:37:08] [SPEAKER_05]: with his uh trio they're singing a song so whatever song it is and it's a great it's the turtle doves

[00:37:16] [SPEAKER_05]: and they're walking down the hallway in their red jackets and i'm like these guys are crushing it

[00:37:22] [SPEAKER_05]: and he's like we need a fourth member of the turtle doves come sing with us

[00:37:26] [SPEAKER_05]: the turtle doves are better without her and the turtle doves were something special there were

[00:37:31] [SPEAKER_05]: something special the three of them they had it all figured out and they add her to the mix and it

[00:37:37] [SPEAKER_05]: just kind of threw everybody off no one quite knew where to land turtles are better without her i hope

[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_05]: she doesn't uh join the turtle doves on a permanent basis hopefully it was a one-off a one-off show in

[00:37:46] [SPEAKER_05]: philly you know you're bringing the somebody uh but the turtles are much better without her and i and

[00:37:51] [SPEAKER_03]: swat that on the record dano uh yeah philadelphia is so quiet in this movie uh birds it is yes you

[00:38:04] [SPEAKER_03]: philadelphia streets you wouldn't be able to hear them in this movie there are times when they're on

[00:38:09] [SPEAKER_03]: the streets of philadelphia pennsylvania and there's literally no background noise the ice skating rink

[00:38:15] [SPEAKER_03]: in the mcgarry movie has more volume than the streets of philadelphia and the emergency room

[00:38:23] [SPEAKER_03]: in downtown philadelphia is taking one patient at a time and is completely silent uh it is so like

[00:38:32] [SPEAKER_03]: the best part of big cities is that like buzz that hum like it's it's so great it's a big city fan

[00:38:40] [SPEAKER_05]: though yeah he knows all about the big city and can i ask you just a quick question because you do

[00:38:44] [SPEAKER_05]: seem pro big city yeah i've always been under the impression that you're a small town guy is that not
