BRAN'S MOVIE SYNOPSIS
An all boys school is merging with an all girls school to create...a school. But both music programs are being retained. Diana and Ken have very different approaches to their music classes - Diana is all about music education while Ken is all about just experimenting with music, such as doing a drum circle. So they go to meet with their stressed school principal, Mrs. Gelder, who suggests that the two submit their own individual entries to a Christmas carol contest. Winner gets the music teacher gig.
They have to submit duos, so they hold auditions. Diana gets two girls - Liz who is called "the girl most likely to…" and Amy who is just super shy. While Ken gets cool boy Billy & smart boy Carlo.
Diana and Ken find themselves hanging out more and getting to understand each other more, especially when they find themselves at the principal's house for a holiday feast.
Amy's mom comes to talk to Diana about Amy not doing the competition. It's too commercial. But after Diana pleads for her to reconsider, she gives in and says Amy can do it unless it becomes too much for her.
The competition turns into quite the school feud which is frustrating because Diana and Ken find themselves getting matched up on their online dating site. But they finally end up just having dinner together and it goes great. Naturally word gets out and spreads all over school.
Billy really wants to win, so he siphons the gas out of Liz's car.
They end up getting caught and Diana blames Ken.
The competition happens and the teams join forces. Diana realizes Ken is a good guy and they kiss and keep their jobs.

[00:00:04] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast
[00:00:45] It's good to be here, I know, it's been really fun We're talking about a Hallmark Christmas movie today from 2012 called Christmas Song What a title, inspired, some might say I do want to, before we dive into the movie itself, right guy I see how To Grandmother's House We Go became a yearly watch for you Right? Childhood, all that stuff
[00:01:11] Santa and Pete, I can, although, you know, perhaps a bit more problematic Divisive, divisive, controversial, problematic I can also see how that's Watched it as a nine-year-old with my mom Yeah I have a theory on why Christmas Song is a yearly watch for you Oh, I'd love to hear it, yeah, I watch it every year It's a December watch every year One of the few Hallmarks that I watch every year, by the way So this is 2012
[00:01:41] My theory is, is this was, if not the first, one of the first Hallmark Christmas movies that you saw Here we go And that kind of got you into the genre And so in your mind, it is a classic Whereas I think we've done all the classics at this point Yeah And this is, we have not done this movie It was pretty crazy we had not gotten, like, anytime we see a new Hallmark Christmas movie From the last 15 years, it's shocking
[00:02:10] Everybody's first Hallmark Christmas movie that gets them into it In their mind, it is bigger than it is So that's my theory on why this movie is free Not a bad theory, and I wouldn't say it's 100% inaccurate But it's also not totally accurate Wow I wouldn't say it's 100% inaccurate So I would say it's 100% accurate That's a double negative What you said is he's 100% correct I wouldn't say it's 100% accurate There we go But I also wouldn't say it's totally inaccurate So what is it? Well, I wouldn't say
[00:02:40] I cannot tell you to not do what I said no to earlier But I would not tell you If you fool me twice, you can't fool me again You're not going to buy the same horse twice Yeah So, no, the first, I guess you would say Old Guard Hallmark film that I really remember watching Was one, I think, the first that a lot of people Claimed to be like the first one that kind of lit the fire For all of this was Moonlight and Mistletoe with CCB
[00:03:10] Which I did used to watch that every year for a while And then that has since long retired from being watched at all But I think, Bran, the kernel of truth in your theory Which is a good one Is that in 2012 What are they making? 12 of these a year? Probably something like that, yeah Yeah, and like, so I would say even at 2014, 2015 And I have this, which I'll talk about in my hot take I have this on physical media Like, there still were only for Boys Like Us, Bran
[00:03:39] Only so many choices If I was really trying to watch Christmas from At this point, I would literally start watching Christmas stuff at Labor Day Like, you know, it's like, so With that said, though I really, really, really quite like this movie But we've talked about this in previous years It's like, Snow 2 Which we all thought sucked I used to watch every year Just because I needed things to fill the slots You know what I mean? Of the 12 Hallmark Countdown to Christmas 2012 titles
[00:04:09] I've seen six of them Yeah Which is insane That's, that's That is the worst thing to say out loud And this, in the movie we're talking about today Christmas song I, it might have been the first new one of the year It was Because it's November 3rd, 2012 And then Love at the Thanksgiving Day Parade Was the next one So, and so I'll just say that now Yeah, I was a huge Love at the Thanksgiving Day Parade head Sure And that is on a four-pack on DVD Oh I don't know if I saw this on television Every week? But I bought that four-pack For Love at the Thanksgiving Day Parade
[00:04:38] And that has since not become a yearly watch And this film has So I do want to say that like Yes, it was a product of circumstance But, Bran, I literally think it's only four or five Hallmark films I could probably do them off the top of my head That I watch every year And this is one of them So it is in, it is in high esteem for me In 2012, Lacey Chabert did a Christmas movie called Matchmaker Santa I feel like we've done that John Ratzenberger, Florence Henderson, Robert Pine
[00:05:04] Google search Matchmaker Santa But like, I don't remember watching that movie I feel like we would have covered that movie I think we have But I might be wrong I, what might be fun, Dan, to do And maybe this is something we do with like Alonzo next year Instead of doing the ones we missed for 2026 We do We have done Matchmaker Santa during COVID We do every What is considered a Countdown to Christmas movie
[00:05:34] That we have not done And then we can say that we've We've seen them all Well, that means I've seen more of these than I thought I wasn't even counting that one on my list There you go And to clarify, neither of you had seen this before this exercise Never seen it I don't recall it No I'm sure I maybe watched it in passing As I was falling asleep one night or something like that But I don't remember It's not big on reruns I don't think that I mean, it's obviously not with Hallmark Plus It's there Right But I think even by like 2015, 2016
[00:06:01] This was not getting a lot of play on Hallmark linear So Right, very good All right, let's talk about it We have mentioned it But November 3rd, 2012 Is when it premiered on the Hallmark Channel And it went a little something like this An all-boys school is merging with an all-girls school To create a school But both music programs, surprisingly enough Are being retained They're going to keep them both Diana and Ken
[00:06:29] Have very different approaches to their music classes Diana is all about, you know, education Because it's school But Ken is all about just experimenting with the music Hands-on Drum circles and whatnot I think they actually only do drum circles So they go to meet with their stressed-out school principal Mrs. Gelder
[00:06:54] Who suggests that the two of them submit their own individual entries To a Christmas carol contest that the local news station is doing Winner will most likely get the music teacher gig Because we're not going to be able to keep these two things going forever So they have to submit duos So they both hold auditions Diana gets two girls Liz, who is called Quotes
[00:07:21] The girl most likely to Ellipses Wow Sick More on that later, I think And Amy, who is just super shy While Ken, though, has super cool boy Billy And smart boy Carlo Diana and Ken find themselves hanging out more and more Getting to understand each other a bit more Especially when they find themselves at the principal's house For a holiday feast and having to decorate her backyard
[00:07:52] Amy's mom comes to talk to Diana about Amy not doing the competition Because it's too commercial and it'll just stress her daughter out too much But after Diana pleads for her to reconsider She gives in and says that Amy can do it as long as It doesn't become too much for her Well, I think it might become too much for her The competition turns out It turns into quite the school feud Which is frustrating because Diana and Ken
[00:08:21] Find themselves getting matched up on their online dating websites But they finally end up just having dinner together It ends up going really great Naturally, word begins to spread all over the school Well, Billy Billy really wants to win this competition So when it comes to the groups going to audition for the competition And practice and whatnot He siphons the gas out of Liz's car
[00:08:48] So that they run out of gas on the side of the road And can't make it to the competition Classic prank Classic prank Well, Diana hears about this And doesn't think that it's Billy that did this She blames our boy Our boy Ken What? Really an insane lead Siphon Ken is what they call it They call him Siphoning Ken So they're not This is a big deal They didn't make it to the audition
[00:09:16] And so they're not going to be allowed to compete in the competition But when word gets out about the gas siphoning situation As you know it would They make a deal to where they're both going to be able to perform There's points that are going to be docked I don't want to get into the logistics of this We will We will But it's a serious thing But the two groups decide You know what would really work?
[00:09:46] And maybe it would make everything better And make Diana forgive Ken for not siphoning the gas out of the car If we join forces to become one group One band One school One band One sound Nice They go out there They perform Ken is inspired He comes out with his trumpet to join them And it's not even close Of course They are going to win the competition Diana now understands that she has made a horrible mistake
[00:10:16] Ken is actually a really great guy And she goes and they make up And they kiss And guess what? We've now got funding to keep both teachers around for another year But why the heck not? It's 2012 Hallmark And that my friends was Christmas song We did it Why the heck not? Why the heck not? Keep them both Yeah Keep them both More drum circles The arts
[00:10:46] They're not dying Not here Not now Alright let's take a break We'll come back We'll break this movie down here on Deck the Hallmark It's okay It's fine I was in my own world there We're back Either of you ever siphoned gas? Not yet I have a I've siphoned water out of the liner of my pool And I have a two way siphon with a power drill So I could If anybody needed me to siphon gas I have the equipment
[00:11:16] Very good And I've siphoned water But never gas Remind me to talk to you after Alright Alright so Christmas song is what we're talking about today Rye Guys Last But not least Favorite Christmas movie that we're talking about here on Christmas in July This is a tradition I know that I've given you a hard deal This is a tradition we should do every year I love this I think it's a no brainer It's an absolute no brainer We can get at least four to five years out of this easy There are so many movies in your Rye Guys Christmas schedule TBD That you do every year that I've never heard of And I love this thing that we're doing in July
[00:11:45] It's the best use of Christmas in July that I've heard so far Oh wow It's like the Criterion Closet But it's all sucky movies that Rye picks up Okay let's talk about it We're going to start with you Rye Guy With our hot takes I have to imagine you like this movie Because you watch it every year But share your thoughts on Christmas song Yeah Brian this is an absolute ripper So I just want all three of them I want all three
[00:12:15] Grandma's House We Go Santa and Pete Christmas song This is an absolute ripper Back to back to back To see how it strains credulity as we go along It's so funny Sorry This is 2012 Hallmark in the best way possible Not all 2012 Hallmark Is in the best way Not all 2012 Hallmark Is in the best way possible But What I think I like about this movie now Is And there's one other point that I'm curious For your guys thoughts as experts in a second
[00:12:42] But listen all Hallmark movies should feel like a light and breezy read But this one really does Like this just feels like a light breezy novel come to life And I really enjoy that about it I also think to this day And I want you both to chime in here Is it the only Hallmark Christmas film to ever take place in a high school And with high school characters as primary principal characters in the film Were the two Tell me
[00:13:11] It's the only Hallmark that has two What is the question again? I just want to Is it the only Hallmark Christmas film to this day that takes place in a high school setting? Primarily in a school Oh no There's other high school Oh I guess the Mariah Carey one It's Christmas Eve Is a high school movie She's a principal But it's pretty uncommon Right? Yeah it's not common Maybe she's elementary But it is To your point The high schoolers have a large part in this movie Yes In Mary Measure
[00:13:39] Is the modern version of this movie Right? Where Brennan Brennan Penny And What's her name? Yeah yeah yeah Sally Musgraves From Patty Murin Brennan Penny And Patty Murin Are They have like Glee clubs Or like The snow must go on last year Yeah yeah Takes place in high school So lately there have been But as of the airing of that movie It probably was the first And I think for a while This was pretty uncommon So I think it still is uncommon I think it still You can say that If they make 25 of these a year
[00:14:09] One or two of them Maybe Yeah Feature teenagers Right? And have them be prominent roles I think Gabriel Hogan And Natasha Henstridge Have a really nice chemistry here I think Listen the kids are all archetypes But I think they fill their roles nicely There's a lot of silly wait what's As we'll talk about As old Hallmark is prone to do But it's just pleasant It's just a pleasant watch I really look forward to watching it Every single year I brought it up on the Facebook group A year or two ago
[00:14:39] And a lot of people Hadn't even heard about it And maybe that will be A reason why Neither of you two liked it Maybe there's a reason Why a lot of people Haven't heard about it But like I said It's one of the select few Hallmark films Literally only five or six That I watch every year And I hope that us doing this Puts it on people's radars And that people enjoy it As much as I do Brand it's the best mashup Since Numb and Encore And I really love Wow Yeah It's an Encore Do you want more? Cook and roll with the Brooklyn boys That's it for me
[00:15:08] I had not seen this movie As far as I am aware It is hard for me to not enjoy Yeah These old Hallmark movies Because they are So many of these type of movies Are the inspiration For this here program They were so much easier To poke fun at And you know This movie isn't a good movie I did have fun watching it
[00:15:36] And I like Gabriel Hogan He's not on the network a ton anymore Like just kind of randomly Way home season four Way home season four But I like him And he's fun and goofy in this movie There is something about this movie That is charming And is delightful But again Yeah It's not going to win an award And I don't think If I'm putting together Rye Guy A list of classic Hallmark movies That I would watch I don't think this one's making the list
[00:16:06] Sure But yeah I had a good time watching it It is truly Truly Unbelievably dumb And I love that part of it I mean there's two music teachers In this movie And they're going to They're going to decide Who keeps the job Through a contest At the local news Come on Come on At the local news That's great Yeah That's great I love that I love that Dano So Gabriel Hogan Is on the network a lot It's just all Hannah Swenson That's what it is Yeah He is on the network a lot We don't get to see him do this He's literally done
[00:16:38] Since 2021 One Two Three Four Five Swenson's Right He was also in Romance at Hope Ranch The worst movie of this year Oh I forgot it That he's the lead in Yeah And a movie called My Christmas Hero Which may have been on a different network You know what I take it all back And the ten episodes Home season four He's actually been on the network He's on the network a lot But it's just stuff that we didn't like I was thinking I was in the same boat you were I was thinking specifically About the guy who's falling in love with the girl Yes you're 100% right
[00:17:06] But now that I remember Romance at Hope Ranch I never want to see him again That's right Yeah Everything he said Take it back So here's my hot take And it is scalding You ready for this I did not like this movie It sucks However This is the best of Rye Guy's three selections And Not even close really This movie Does remind me Of a simpler time Doing Deck the Hallmark I love what we do now Because I get to watch Marvel movies And TV shows
[00:17:36] And Furious Mission Whatever that was Like I like Furious Mission Wars Like So for me I like what we do now More than what we did then But it was a simpler time Brand This was the movie We would watch Before getting together In your dining room With a bunch of mics And plenty of echo And And Breaking down The intricacies Like The 2018 Deck the Hallmark review Of this movie Would have been Scathing It would have been
[00:18:05] An hour takedown Of all of the problems With high school And these teachers And this inappropriate Principal And Bating apps Yeah And now Like now where we are 1700 episodes in It's like I remember I remember what this was I remember these I remember these movies And so I had a bit of a soft spot Of my heart For it Even though it is Remarkably bad But it's remarkably bad In a very fun way That lands the plane In 80 minutes
[00:18:34] And so On that merit Give me this Over Mary-Kate And Ashley Or Santa And Pete Any day Wow Well there you go He loves the movie Yeah Wait a minute Whoa I'm sorry The song is sacred For real likes I apologize Let's get to the feels Right guy Yeah I think the other Thing about this movie And Brian I'll be curious If you feel the same way That It does by Especially by the third act I'm like Oh man Like There's that feeling Of like One or two days
[00:19:03] Before winter vacation Christmas vacation Hitting Sure And I think That really resonates With me And like That feeling Really never Went away For me Even through Senior year In high school Like you know And so It brings me Back to that place Because like The school Like is unrealistic But like You know It's But it It always lands In that Sweet spot Bread basket For me Brand So I always Enjoy that about it Yeah I don't know What's going on In the principal's Backyard
[00:19:32] It is truly Insane But I did realize That I don't Decorate my backyard And maybe I should Get on that It's crazy Maybe I should Get on that I would love To see your Backyard decorate Because I see Your entire backyard For my house Yeah I like that time You had that Giant inflatable In your driveway That you just Faced towards Right I just faced Towards you That was a funny You cannot That's my fence Though I put the fence So you can't Touch the fence I'm not touching I'm just No I wouldn't Touch your fence I wouldn't Touch your fence I will go up
[00:20:02] The entire oak tree Whatever that sucker is Which lost a giant Branch We lost a big one We lost a big one Rest in peace Didn't land on the fence That's right Which is crazy Because we were Just talking about it We were just Talking about it But it's not that Branch No no no That one did not Come down That's just Neighbor talk I'm sorry We haven't talked About it since it Happened Neighbor talk Neighbor talk Dano Yeah the Like I do Miss weirdly enough Even though I made Fun of them relentlessly
[00:20:31] The movies that were Made when It wasn't Decorated for Christmas Until it was a fire Hazard And that is what This movie is Like everyone's House is a fire Hazard Like there is The principal's House Has I think Ten trees In it There's garlands Everywhere Stem to stern Ceiling to float Like it is Crazy What they used To do in a Random Christmas Movie And I had Kind of forgotten You grow a little Numb to the
[00:21:00] Like token Christmas decorations This even Before the Backyard Which I'm sure We'll talk about More in the Wait what Segment I There's something About What like You couldn't Even Like they do This thing Where they have A kid who's In a wheelchair In this movie And they don't Mention it Which is Above and Beyond what Homework 2012 would Normally do He brings It up Because he Says you Don't think That I could Be in Our resident Oh that's Right Yeah he Does And I Don't think The actor Actually is Is like Like has A disability That needs
[00:21:30] No he's not Yeah Which is tough Like a huge So that is More accurate To 2012 Hallmark Where they Put this This guy In a wheelchair Like but But I Like the Idea that That kid Could ever Visit the Principal's House Is not Possible Right Like the Decorations Would preclude Him from Getting around Like these Decorate Yes These decorations Are such That and This is my Feels by the Way That this Kid can't Maneuver his Wheelchair
[00:21:59] Through these Christmas It's good To be back Like 2012 Had it right This is so Crazy There's no Way that Anyone that Needed any Accessibility Could Maneuver in This house Because Christmas Is thrown Up Everywhere And it's Crazy but It brought A smile to My face That's what They're talking About when The war on Christmas Is that Trying to Make it to Where it's More accessible I can't get Around this Principal's House Let's go Back Alright let's Take a Prick We'll get to The Weight
[00:22:29] Weather What the Hallmark You're on Deck the Hallmark How'd that Signature Turn out Really good Good I wrote Deck the Hallmark That's really Good I see that That's really Good Whenever you Say Somebody said Inspiration I wrote Inspiration I just That's what I do Over here That's a Good Word I want to Write that Word See what Feels In the Pen
[00:23:00] Let's Get to The Web Let's Talk About What I'll Start With You Right Guy I mean Yeah I've It's It's It's All Movie It's The worst Snow I've Ever seen In a Christmas movie That isn't Digital The backyard It's It's also Clearly That the Backyard Is just A sound Stage Yeah Yeah They didn't Even try To make It look like
[00:23:30] A backyard It is It's bad And they Could have Potentially got Away with it If she Wasn't Wearing Heels But I See like Her Heel Digging Into The Fabric Of The Blanket And like Getting Stuck To I Shouldn't Be Able See Indentions Or Seams Yeah And I Saw Both Of Those Things Like Really Really Really Bad Like I Would Do Better Snow Decoration Helping My Kids Make A Movie Around The House It's Awesome
[00:23:59] Diana's Teacher Best Friend Whatever Her Name Is She Hates Liz She She Hates This Teenage Girl Like Actively Hates Her Well I Have This Written Down As A Wait What But I She's Implying She's The One That Brings Up The She's The Girl Most Likely To Yes She Says That And There's Several Other Mean Insults She Is Implying That Through All The Things That She Says That Liz Is The Most
[00:24:29] Likely Teenage Girl To Get Pregnant In School That Like That's Reading Between The Lines Here Of Everything That This Teacher Is Best Friend Is Saying About This Kid At The School Is Like Yeah She's Going to Get Knocked Up She's Going
[00:24:59] To Be There's A lot Of These To Go Around So I'll Take This One 2012 Hallmark Saying That A Dating App Wouldn't Give Out Names Because Of A Privacy Concern It Is Like So Like It's So Unbelievably Nonsense Like I don't Even Know How To Explain How Absurd It Is Like It's
[00:25:29] Like It Doesn't It Doesn't Compute Literally Figuratively Like Oh Well You Could Have A Great Connection With This Person But You Know We Can't Give Out Their Name For A Privacy Concern So You Can Just Meet Them At This Restaurant And They Could Be
[00:26:12] I Think The Song At The End Slaps But There's No Way They Arrange That When Did That Happen When Did They Decide To Go Music And All Like Which Yeah Like Who Mixed That I Don't Want To Take Brands But I
[00:26:42] And She Trying To Convince Shy Girl That She Should Be A Part Of This And She's Like Just Sing a Song Any Song You Want To And She Goes With The Holly And The Ivy Yeah She Does Crazy Like If You Can Sing Any Christmas Song You Want To How Far On The list Is The Hollywood Not Just Because It's Like A Whatever Christmas Song But Also Does Anyone Know Those Lyrics Like All Of Them Like Just Off Rip You Go Good King Wenceslas Before Holly And The Ivy I Think You Yeah The Holly And Ivy Was A
[00:27:11] Wild Pole I Have A Theory That This Movie Lost The Tripod At Some Point In The Making Of The Amount Of Shaky Cam At Random Point Is Crazy And They Do Have A Tripod Some Scenes They Utilize It Quite Well In Fact I Just I Just Wrote More Scenes Per Capital Hallmark Movie Without A Tripod Than I've Ever Seen Before I Just Wrote Down Are They At Sea
[00:27:42] Like There's Times When The Camera Is Just Like Doing This You're Like What Is Crazy They Were Trying To Subtly Let You Know I Got A Kick Out Of When Is It Ken Yes The Teacher Ken Gabriel Hogan Yeah Says Hey Billy Billy Do Some Runs And They Run It Back And He Does Some Runs And Then He Says Hey Billy Let's Dial It Back On The Runs You Asked He Did Him He Did Him I Did Him
[00:28:13] Yeah Maybe Don't Beat This Mom Who Came Hey This Isn't What Christmas Is All About It Is Not About The Commercialism She Also Gets Stressed Out She Gave In So Quickly To Like Hey Just Let Her Do It I
[00:28:45] Think It'll The Sure Amount Sure Of Of Pictures Of Swimsuit Models From The 1990s That He Has In His Locker Of Girls Who Don't Know They're Being Take It These Are Candid Yes These Are Candid Pictures The Angles The That Are These Photos Are Taken At Are Not Smile For The Crazy Angles It Is
[00:29:20] Kelly In The Slipsuit Is Pretty Or Yeah Having Them Ninth Crater's Model Lingerie That But Also Like He Had Go In And Take A Picture That That Was A Rough One Yeah So As Far As I Know Billy Didn't Publish These You Don't
[00:29:50] No Go A Great Awesome Thanks Weird Segway So I Didn't I Didn't Understand What This Last One Was Cool You
[00:30:21] What Is That Is That Only For The Electives I Just Couldn't Wrap My Brain Around We're Merging Schools No You Are Not They Are Still Separate They're Just In The Same Building Why Merge At All I Like That's The Beginning Of This Movie And They Try To Sneak It Past Us Like It's Normal Not Normal Like That's Not How You Would You You're Sneaking It Past Us I Worked At A School In St. Louis That Used To Be Two Different Schools
[00:30:51] Used To Be The Mary Country Day School Which Was For Girls And Something Another One And They Combined Schools No The Mary Institute And The Country Day School Now It Is The Mary Institute of Country Day School That Is What It Is Now In St. Louis In Ladue Missouri That Is Too Long Like All The Kids Are In Schools Together What Is Happening Here Where They Combined To Not Combine And While We're At It If Any School In The World Needs One
[00:31:21] Music Teacher It's This School Like Like I'm Not Here To Tell You How To Allocate Funds But They're Teaching One Class Each Like Typically A Full Time Teacher Will Teach Five Or Six Classes In A Day And I Guess They Might Have Other Classes But It Certainly Seems As Though Since The Boys And Girls Don't Have To Go To School Together That They Were Only Teaching The One It Just Doesn't Seem Like We Need Two Teachers Is All I'm Saying But We Got to Dan Hates The Arts I
[00:31:52] Hate The Make That Point Clear They Show Us Her Leaving The Restroom And Staring At A Bunch Of Boys Who Are In Line For The Restroom And Then They Show Us That Same Clip Again They Show Us The Same Clip Twice So Thank You You You Needed 84 Minutes You Didn't Have It We
[00:32:31] That That Every One Of These Songs Every One Of Them They're Public Domain There's A Reason That They're Using These Songs Weird You Pointed Out One Of Them That's Weird You Know What Serial Killer Behavior Meeting A Blind Date At A Restaurant Going To The Corner And Putting Your Back To The Door That Is Serial Like I'm Sorry Would you ever do that right guy Right guy You get You get sat first at a table for a blind date They put you in the corner
[00:33:00] Two seats You sit Facing the exit Like I tend to do that anyway Brain gave me a hard time about that About like Oh you gotta sit so you can protect everybody It's just a natural thing that I do What What What I would What I would suggest It is something that You are Not even necessarily taught As a southern gentleman But it is something that you are taught That's right Like You just know it No one ever told me to do that But I do that every As a southern gentleman You know that you look out of the exit
[00:33:30] To make sure that you can protect your clan 100 It's so built into my DNA Yeah To do that The idea that this guy is by himself In a restaurant At a two top Where one seat faces the corner And he sits in it Lunatic It's crazy Not even from a Like you gotta protect your clan But also you need to You need to See when you're Clock your date When she comes in That's insane Unless you send a picture Of the back of your head Oh my gosh Well the app wouldn't allow that
[00:33:59] It's a privacy concern You know what What if that's actually the workaround You can't send Faces The front of your face You can't send the back of your head Yeah Yeah he wanted to know I will say Another thing that made me smile About 2012 Hallmark is They want to show That a dude is a bachelor And lives alone They go to his friend's house Yeah And it's like How do we show I remember like Andrew Walker Talking about cheeseburgers And I'm like Andrew Walker's never said Any of these words before Like this bachelor That they go and visit His apartment is made
[00:34:34] You know he lives alone They also throw in A traffic cone A traffic cone That would be used To like Move traffic Out of a lane I don't know why He's got it But he's got one And it's in the movie Later in the movie These teens are all talking In 2012 Not 2008 In 2012 And this girl says Some guy posted a tweet About it You mean some guy Tweeted it You're a teenager Ma'am
[00:35:03] I taught in 2012 The kids would say That he tweeted it They would not say Some guy posted a tweet About it That's language of my grandmother That's not how They would talk Then Did he post a tweeter He posted a tweet About it Did they post a tweet We hear that Did you tweet on the On the Insta book Did you tweet on that Did you tweet on that Did you post a tweet on that Did you get that Insta book Yeah And Face Face tweet Two more One This woman says That the boys
[00:35:33] Can still compete But they will have A five point disadvantage Out of how many What does that even mean Ma'am Like Just tell me Tell me what you're Trying to tell me Five point It's out of a gajillion Okay who cares It's out of five Alright don't show up Somebody tell me Yeah I do want To also point out That she says You know I want them To still compete Because one of the boys Didn't know about it So it's not fair For him To not be able to do this But also
[00:36:04] Five points Like Which does hurt him The boy Had nothing to do with it Is it out of a hundred What is that even Like is there one judge Dude it's actually out of five It's out of Yeah I just don't know What it means What a comeback They can't Yeah That's really big Like you They've got to give me More specifics there And it's just like Somebody wrote a draft And went They can Five points I think we're supposed To believe that Estelle Barlow Is running amok Right And that she's doing Whatever she wants Sure And giving five point Deductions But
[00:36:34] If When When the teams Merge together And they perform And they win Did they Win By all still Having the five points Off The system broke The system broke At that point The points don't matter And then lastly I don't remember Who says this To Gabriel Hogan's character But they're trying To tell him That like the two Girls are fighting And she And the I believe it is Natasha Henstridge Who says this She says It's this contest
[00:37:03] That's driving them apart And Gabriel Hogan responds With this banger Yeah All contests do that No No they don't No they don't Like Gabe Are you okay buddy Have you been scarred By a contest As a child All contests do that What are you talking About buddy That's a little crazy Alright that's all I got Alright let's get to What the Hallmark story We wonder what could have been Maybe having to get To clear the question We still have What are we still Wondering about I'll start with you Reggae Yeah Bran Are we gonna do Thanksgiving house
[00:37:33] As a one off In November Or do I have to wait Till Christmas in July Next year That's a good question It's a good question I don't know We're gonna have to Wait on schedules We gotta wait on It depends on how many movies If Hallmark gives us 24 again I bet you we got room for it But we also need to See what up is up to You're on the upbeat I'm on the upbeat For the rest of the time Yeah You say yes once And that's forever That's that That's how you got on Ride Yeah Oh I can't We gotta watch those Ride CW reruns Yeah man Of course
[00:38:03] Did it get any better When it moved to CW Were the tarps As big a deal As we remember them Yeah That's it for me Bran I do wanna know If Ken does bring His trumpet everywhere Like Yeah That's it He comes out With the trumpets But remember He didn't know This was gonna happen He didn't know He was performing That's right And so that And like He did it so quick So it's not like He ran out to his car To get his trumpet He had it
[00:38:32] On his person Close by In close proximity And when he saw The two groups Merge together He said Thank God Like do you know How many times I brought my trumpet Somewhere And I didn't need To bust it off Thank goodness Thank goodness Like what is his deal Why did he have His trumpet At this competition I need to know it Thank goodness I could steal this moment From children To make it about myself It would be one thing If we saw him Practicing with the boys And he had the trumpet It'd be like Oh he had it on hand
[00:39:02] That's right No no no no He just happened To have it in the chamber First time we see it Yeah So there you go All movie All movie I thought he only did Drum circles So this was news Mine is also Contest related You know normally We've seen a bunch Of Christmas movies That have talent shows Singing contests What have you In almost all of them We get a snippet Of another performer Right This contest I don't think They were competing Against anyone There was no one else There
[00:39:31] The crowd was sparse There was The host The host That was in his own room We never see him Interact with That guy gave That guy's wild That guy gave The I said One of the funniest Performers He did all of his lines Before anybody else Was there He didn't cut it out With the phones Yeah He's a riot Classic But like I don't see Any other performers And I'm just like What was they Because they won So what was the competition like It didn't seem like much And then lastly How long before they finally Do what they should have done Originally when two schools
[00:40:01] Merge in Get a different mascot Like this idea Of them trying to combine The two mascots They're not even combining The classrooms Like get a different You gotta rename your school Get a different mascot They tried merging mascots Before they merge classes So stupid Yeah We gotta do the important stuff Like the mascot Well we did it everybody This was a lot of fun Christmas in July Rye Guy It's It's It's Almost done And it's done for you So That's it
[00:40:30] That's it Rye Guy's picks In the books In the books First annual Alright well let us know If you want us to do it again We probably will regardless But let us know Can you imagine We only get bad feedback Yeah We're like We're still doing it Still doing it Yeah Our hands are tied We did it once He's on the upbeat That's right Alright we'll be back next time Another one Until then I'm the first to wish you A Merry Christmas Deck the Hallmark Is a Bramble Jam podcast Produced by Brandon Gray And you have that Greenville, South Carolina For more information on the show Go to deckthehallmark.com Follow us on the socials At deckthehallmark
