Emily is a party planner, and she is great at her job! Her clients are always thrilled with her work. She makes it known, however, that she’s not going home for Christmas and tries to avoid the conversation altogether.

Cut to Emily’s brother, Nick. Nick is stuck running the family farm, and it’s a big year—it’s the first Christmas after their mom passed away, but it’s also the 25th annual Christmas carnival. His best friend (and fellow hunk), Luke, has been helping out around the farm. When Luke hears how overwhelmed Nick is with planning the carnival, he suggests calling someone with a ton of party-planning experience… like Emily! At first, she’s like, “Hard pass,” but then she has a dream about her mom.

So she hops on a plane FROM LAX, and when she gets home, she immediately bumps into an old friend. It’s good to be home. On her drive to the farm, she almost hits Luke while he’s crossing the road, and they have a very Hallmark-style shouting match.

When she gets to the farm, she’s shocked to find that Luke is there. As she catches up with her brother, she learns that Luke is a light artist—or at least, he used to be. When Emily sees some of his work, she gets inspired. What if they incorporated his art into the carnival to make it really special?

She goes to ask Luke for help, and at first, he’s like, “Nope,” but then he’s like, “Okay, fine.” So, yay! But Luke realizes he needs inspiration—he can’t just art on command. Emily, ever the problem solver, comes up with fun activities to boost his creativity, like untangling Christmas lights in the middle of the night, decorating the farm, and even going to a Christmas market together.

FINALLY, inspiration strikes while eating a cookie, and he rushes home. My guy is inspired. And let’s be honest… it’s Emily who’s inspiring him, because the sparks are flyinggggg!

This carnival is going to be poppin’, so Emily calls in all her favors to get as much press and as many influencers to come out as possible. Luke’s not thrilled about the influencers, but he is thrilled about Emily, so… what can ya do?

Luke finally shoots his shot and asks her to dinner. While they walk around town, she casually mentions that she’s definitely going back to LA after the carnival. He’s like, “Well, I’d still like to talk to you on the phone from time to time.”

At dinner, they bond over how hard it is to take the plunge to become their own boss. He’s afraid to open a gallery, and she’s afraid to start her own party-planning company. Luke suggests she come home to start her business, but Emily says leaving LA would feel like she’s failing. She talks about her mom, and he talks about light. The date is a big success.

Finally, it’s carnival time, and it’s a huge success with big light.

Emily and Luke come up with a plan: she’ll start her own company, splitting her time between LA and the farm. Meanwhile, he’s going to open his own gallery. They make out.

[00:00:01] Hi, I'm Brian and I love Hallmark Christmas movies. I'm Brian and I like Hallmark Christmas movies. I'm Dan and I despise Hallmark Christmas movies and this is the Deck The Hallmark Podcast. Deck The Hallmark, it's his podcast. We hope you like this jolly podcast. Hi everybody. Is it another big week? Is it Sunday? What day is it?

[00:00:37] Today is Sunday, December 8th. It's another big week. We were talking this may be the biggest.

[00:00:47] What we did here is we saved the first, we made it last. So this movie was the first movie. We're a biblical show.

[00:00:57] We might be trending in the Christian podcast. Christmas Under the Lights was the first movie of Thanksgiving week and we did it last.

[00:01:07] Yeah, of course. And that's no offense given to any. No, we're not. Our boy Kay-On's in this movie. Yeah. Love Kay-On. Love him. Love him. We're gonna have a lot of fun talking about it. And then we're right back at it.

[00:01:21] Yep. Another big week. Big week. Only two more full weeks. That's crazy. Until Christmas. And we're here and then it's over. Christmas is over. Shut it down. You got real sad. Uh-oh. I'm sorry, buddy. You gotta bring it up. I'm sorry. Why do we gotta bring it up? You know I get- It's gonna get to a point where he starts getting sad when the schedule's released. Well, yeah.

[00:01:41] There is a part of it. He's gonna be at his peak Christmas-y in like March. Well, we did it. Well, beginning of the end. And then September's like, well, it's pretty much over. What's the problem? Just crawling into a grave. That's right. We're just throwing dirt on him. That's right. May as well shut it down.

[00:01:56] I don't like get down about like much of anything aside from the end of Christmas. And then it's like- It comes back every year. I fully understand. I know. The whole season. And so does the pain. All right. Okay. All right. It never gets easier, doesn't it? It never gets easier. It gets harder the older you get. Yeah. We're talking Christmas in the Israelites today. It's a movie that you could have watched and played our card game, Christmas in the Magic. Yeah. We've been a good one. It's out. And my understanding, you can order it now, deckthehomer.com slash game, and you will-

[00:02:25] You'll get it before Christmas, and you'll still be able to play it. And a lot of people begin to- You know, you watch the homework movies early on, and then you kind of do the Christmas classics as it gets a little bit closer to Christmas. You can play it to your Christmas with the Craigs. Yeah. You can play it to your Polar Express. You can play it to your- Good God. It's a Wonderful Life. You can do all those things. You can hit all the favorites. Those three movies being in a sentence together. I just did all of our favorites. I did all of our favorites here. I did it all. Have you given critics a watch yet this season? I haven't. I haven't. I haven't. I think Elf, for me, Elf.

[00:02:55] And the Santa Claus and the Holdovers all give It's a Wonderful Life a run for their money. Wow. Yep. It's a true story. Wow. The Jim Carrey of it all. Yeah. Man, I don't know if you've ever said anything that I could hear Alonzo shiver when you said it. I've done a lot of things over the years. Usually it's you. Yeah. But even when we- You say in the Santa Claus, though.

[00:03:17] But back before we did this show, Brad, we did a little show called Christmas Radio Live.

[00:03:22] It was a morning show. Right. That you and I and Panda occasionally did. We did.

[00:03:26] We did. Yes. Because I have an online radio station. It's still live, but we don't do the morning show anymore.

[00:03:30] And we did a Christmas movie bracket. And even then, I said, we had Elf and It's a Wonderful Life in the final two.

[00:03:36] And I said at that point, I would take you to these movies. So I don't think It's a Wonderful Life is above those.

[00:03:41] Do you want to know what might hurt your soul more than anything in the entire world?

[00:03:47] Oh.

[00:03:47] So I'm on- Do you want?

[00:03:50] I don't know if you do.

[00:03:51] I found out. So you know that there's an Elf musical, right?

[00:03:53] Yes.

[00:03:53] There's an Elf musical, and I'm sure it's swell.

[00:03:55] I discovered that there is a cartoon version of the musical. It's 46 minutes long.

[00:04:05] And worst case scenario, who's Elf? Who do you think they would bring in?

[00:04:10] Fringe Stewart.

[00:04:10] Fringe Stewart. No.

[00:04:11] Rob Schneider. No?

[00:04:13] Okay, these are all good options.

[00:04:15] They're good. Yes.

[00:04:15] Sheldon.

[00:04:17] Jim Parsons.

[00:04:18] Jim Parsons is Elf.

[00:04:20] Yeah.

[00:04:20] And it's 46 minutes, and it is- I didn't finish it.

[00:04:25] Whoa!

[00:04:26] I know. It hurt my soul.

[00:04:28] I can't imagine what it would do to you.

[00:04:30] I feel better about Jim Parsons after I mentioned Rob Schneider.

[00:04:33] Sure.

[00:04:33] Yeah.

[00:04:34] No, I shouldn't have said the worst.

[00:04:35] I'm sure there are worse options.

[00:04:38] But when I saw Jim Parsons on it, I was like, I don't know about this.

[00:04:42] And then it started, and I was like, I really don't know about this.

[00:04:45] You were right.

[00:04:45] But maybe people- if you like it, let me know.

[00:04:48] Maybe it gets better.

[00:04:49] But I was- I made it like-

[00:04:50] Justice for Sheldon.

[00:04:51] I made it to where he gets to New York.

[00:04:53] I don't dare them to make that TV show.

[00:04:54] You didn't make it long at all.

[00:04:55] No.

[00:04:56] Wow.

[00:04:57] Now I feel like I need to watch this, you know?

[00:04:59] Yeah.

[00:05:00] But Ed Asner does do the voice of Santa.

[00:05:02] Oh, good.

[00:05:02] Oh, my goodness.

[00:05:03] Shout out.

[00:05:04] You gotta.

[00:05:04] You gotta.

[00:05:05] There's some bright points, but also some not bright points.

[00:05:09] All that to say, you can play Christmas Movie Magic to any of those things.

[00:05:11] DeckDomware.com slash game.

[00:05:13] That's exactly right.

[00:05:14] You can watch all the movies and watch all of our episodes.

[00:05:16] That's right.

[00:05:17] You can watch our episodes on Philo.

[00:05:19] Philo.

[00:05:20] Philo.tv slash DTH.

[00:05:21] It's the place to go.

[00:05:23] And I would encourage you to keep it up in the new year.

[00:05:27] Philo Deep Dive will be coming back in January.

[00:05:30] It's the show where Dan and I do a deep dive on a random show that we find on Philo.

[00:05:34] It's a ton of fun.

[00:05:35] It's one of the highlights of my week.

[00:05:37] Wow.

[00:05:38] During the year.

[00:05:39] I love that show.

[00:05:39] It's a great show.

[00:05:40] I have a lot of fun.

[00:05:40] Great show.

[00:05:41] I have a lot of fun over at Philo Deep Dive.

[00:05:42] So come and join us.

[00:05:43] It's gonna be a lot of fun.

[00:05:44] Brian, what do you have for the people?

[00:05:45] I know you're always, you always, ABC always keep promoting.

[00:05:48] What do you have going on?

[00:05:49] I know you were really excited about a certain thing that's kind of a charn your cheer a little

[00:05:52] bit.

[00:05:52] Yeah.

[00:05:53] You know, it's funny.

[00:05:53] You mentioned the deep dive and I was just thinking, I haven't heard of Gavel in a while.

[00:05:57] Have you ever done a Gavel deep dive version where you just strictly do some court shows

[00:06:01] on a deep dive?

[00:06:02] No, we have not.

[00:06:03] I did one.

[00:06:04] I do feel like it's a little bit of a cheat code.

[00:06:07] Sure.

[00:06:07] Yeah.

[00:06:08] I did one court show that I've never done for Gavel.

[00:06:11] It was Miss Pat Settles It.

[00:06:13] And it's a court.

[00:06:14] Barely a court show.

[00:06:15] Court show on BET.

[00:06:16] Miss Pat brings it in.

[00:06:18] Miss Pat.

[00:06:18] There's some comedians over there.

[00:06:19] It is a very fun show, but that's the closest I've done to a Gavel deep dive.

[00:06:23] It does kill two birds with one stone.

[00:06:24] It does.

[00:06:25] Is deep dive now gonna become Go Gavel Gavel?

[00:06:28] Because you can find Mathis on Vilo.

[00:06:31] It's there.

[00:06:32] It's actually a pretty good little cheat code, maybe.

[00:06:35] Yeah.

[00:06:35] You can find Mathis on Vilo.

[00:06:37] You can find Mathis.

[00:06:38] Of course you can.

[00:06:39] That's where I watch it.

[00:06:40] Yeah.

[00:06:40] That's right.

[00:06:40] Yeah.

[00:06:40] Obviously.

[00:06:41] He's the best.

[00:06:42] Mathis is the best.

[00:06:42] We love him.

[00:06:43] All right.

[00:06:44] Let's talk Christmas Under the Lights, shall we?

[00:06:45] The last one of the one from a long time ago.

[00:06:49] And then we'll do-

[00:06:50] You nailed it.

[00:06:50] And then we'll do more-

[00:06:51] But first here.

[00:06:51] And then we'll do more for the ones that weren't as long ago, starting tomorrow.

[00:06:56] Big week.

[00:06:57] Christmas Under the Lights, November 27th, 2024.

[00:06:59] It's when it premieres on the Hallmark Mystery Channel, and it went a little something like

[00:07:02] this.

[00:07:03] Emily is a party planner, and she is great at her job.

[00:07:08] Her clients are always thrilled with her work.

[00:07:11] She knows all the influencers, because she lives in LA.

[00:07:15] She's doing all these parties for these hotshot influencers.

[00:07:18] She makes it known, however, that she is not going home for Christmas.

[00:07:22] And it becomes pretty clear that she actually tries to avoid the conversation about this altogether.

[00:07:27] Cut to Emily's brother, Nick.

[00:07:29] Nick is stuck running the family farm.

[00:07:33] It's a big year.

[00:07:35] It is the first Christmas after their mom passed away.

[00:07:39] And he is now trying to figure out how to do this Christmas carnival.

[00:07:44] It's the 25th annual Christmas carnival.

[00:07:46] It's a big one.

[00:07:47] His best friend, and also a hunk, I might say.

[00:07:51] His name is Luke.

[00:07:53] And Luke has been helping out around the farm.

[00:07:55] When Luke hears how overwhelmed Nick is with the party planning of it all with the carnival,

[00:08:02] I wish they would have given them other names.

[00:08:05] Luke and Nick is about as generic as you get, and I'm definitely going to mix them up.

[00:08:09] I'm sure I probably haven't already.

[00:08:11] Anyway, when he hears how overwhelmed Nick is with the carnival, he's just calling someone with a ton of party planning experience.

[00:08:19] Who could it be?

[00:08:20] It's Emily!

[00:08:21] They call Emily.

[00:08:22] And Emily at first is like hard pass, but then she has a dream about her mom.

[00:08:26] So she hops on a plane from LAX and goes straight to the farm.

[00:08:31] She actually doesn't go straight to the farm.

[00:08:33] She goes to get some coffee.

[00:08:34] She bumps into an old friend.

[00:08:36] It's good to be home.

[00:08:37] On her way to the farm, she almost hits Luke while he's walking across the road.

[00:08:43] And they have a very Hallmark-style shouting match.

[00:08:46] So it's like, you know, it's like Dan and I, you know, just talking.

[00:08:52] Yeah.

[00:08:52] So it's pretty intense.

[00:08:54] Pretty intense stuff.

[00:08:55] But it's a shouting match for Hallmark.

[00:08:56] They're mad at each other.

[00:08:58] When she gets to the farm, she's shocked to find out that Luke is there as well.

[00:09:02] As she catches up with her brother, she learns that Luke is a light artist.

[00:09:07] A light artist.

[00:09:08] You know the code.

[00:09:09] Or at least he used to be.

[00:09:11] You might say that he is now a light, light artist.

[00:09:15] Artist.

[00:09:16] Light.

[00:09:16] Artist.

[00:09:17] When Emily sees some of his work, she gets inspired.

[00:09:21] What if they incorporate his art into the carnival to make it really special and to have one of those things that can kind of help bring some buzz to the carnival this year, 25th annual?

[00:09:32] So she goes to ask Luke if he'd be willing to do this.

[00:09:35] And at first he's like, nope.

[00:09:36] But then he's like, okay, fine.

[00:09:39] You know, love of the game, love of the art.

[00:09:41] Love of you.

[00:09:42] So yeah.

[00:09:43] But Luke realizes that he needs some inspiration.

[00:09:45] He can't just create art out of nothing, out of light, you know?

[00:09:50] So Emily, ever the problem solver, comes up with some fun activities to boost his creativity, such as untangling Christmas lights in the middle of the night, decorating the farm, and even going to a Christmas market together.

[00:10:04] Finally, inspiration strikes while eating a cookie at a party.

[00:10:10] And he rushes home.

[00:10:11] My guy is inspired.

[00:10:13] And let's be honest, it's Emily who's inspiring him all the way home because the sparks were flying.

[00:10:21] He, she, they're both digging each other.

[00:10:26] The carnival's going to be popping.

[00:10:28] So Emily calls for all in the favors.

[00:10:31] That's a new show that's starting out.

[00:10:33] All in the favors.

[00:10:34] He's grabbing words as they come by like a buffet.

[00:10:36] The carnival's going to be popping.

[00:10:38] They're all here.

[00:10:39] Hey, let me try another one off for you.

[00:10:41] The carnival's going to be popping.

[00:10:42] So Emily calls in all of her favors to all of the influencers and the press to get as many people out there as possible.

[00:10:51] Luke's not thrilled about the influencers.

[00:10:53] Honestly, who is?

[00:10:54] But he is thrilled about Emily.

[00:10:55] So what can you do?

[00:10:57] Luke finally shoots his shot and asks her to dinner.

[00:11:00] While they walk around downtown, she casually mentions that she's definitely going back to L.A. after the carnival.

[00:11:06] And he's like, well, I mean, I'd still like to talk to you on the phone.

[00:11:10] I wouldn't have asked you out to dinner if I didn't kind of want to get to know you even more.

[00:11:14] And so they, they exchange phone numbers, which would have probably thought they already had it because they're working on the whole carnival thing.

[00:11:21] But it doesn't matter.

[00:11:22] It's sweet.

[00:11:23] At dinner, they bond over how hard it is to take the plunge to become their own boss.

[00:11:28] He's afraid to open up a gallery and she's afraid to start her own party planning company because of how much there's going on in L.A.

[00:11:35] There's already so many companies.

[00:11:37] It would just be the market saturated.

[00:11:39] Luke suggests that she comes home and starts a business.

[00:11:43] But Emily's like, leave in L.A.

[00:11:44] That'd be like failing.

[00:11:45] So I can't do that.

[00:11:47] She then talks about her mom and he talks about light.

[00:11:51] And the date is a big success.

[00:11:53] Finally, it's carnival time.

[00:11:54] And that's a success.

[00:11:57] The light.

[00:11:57] Are you kidding me right now?

[00:11:59] Big fun.

[00:12:00] Emily and Luke come up with a plan.

[00:12:02] And she is going to start her own company, splitting her time between L.A. and the farm.

[00:12:08] Meanwhile, he is going to open up his own gallery.

[00:12:10] And what better way to seal that deal than with a contract?

[00:12:14] Just kidding.

[00:12:14] With a kiss.

[00:12:16] And now, my friends, was Christmas under the lights.

[00:12:21] We did it.

[00:12:23] We did do it.

[00:12:24] Let's take a quick break.

[00:12:25] We'll come back and we'll break this movie down here on Take the Hallmark.

[00:12:35] Dan, it's cold.

[00:12:36] It's cold right now in Greenville.

[00:12:38] Chances are it's cold where you're listening.

[00:12:40] Or if it's not, it will be soon.

[00:12:42] And I got to tell you, what's coming in clutch right now is my Cozy Earth blanket.

[00:12:47] And people might be saying, Brian, you are exaggerating.

[00:12:50] This blanket can't be that wonderful.

[00:12:52] It can't be this cozy.

[00:12:53] It can't keep you warm.

[00:12:54] And I say, humbug, sir or madam.

[00:12:59] Cozy Earth only creates incredible products.

[00:13:02] And I got to be honest with you.

[00:13:03] The name Cozy Earth, they are not.

[00:13:06] They're just doing it.

[00:13:07] It's cozy.

[00:13:07] It could not be more cozy, Dano.

[00:13:10] Brian, this is barely an ad.

[00:13:11] I'm such a fan of Cozy Earth.

[00:13:14] My family has Cozy Earth products.

[00:13:15] And you're right.

[00:13:16] It is cold right now.

[00:13:17] And Cozy Earth is great for cold.

[00:13:18] But you know what else?

[00:13:18] When it's hot out in the summer here in Greenville, Cozy Earth is great for that too.

[00:13:22] The sheets keep you cool all night long.

[00:13:24] The blanket keeps you warm.

[00:13:25] The pajamas are the most comfortable pajamas on the planet.

[00:13:48] It's made for you.

[00:13:49] I know.

[00:13:49] I'm very excited about it.

[00:13:50] So head to CozyEarth.com right now.

[00:13:52] Use the promo code Hallmark to get up to 40% off your purchase.

[00:13:56] You will thank us later.

[00:14:05] Hello, everybody.

[00:14:05] Merry Christmas to you.

[00:14:07] Happy Sunday.

[00:14:08] We're talking Christmas Under the Lights, the Hallmark mystery movie from Thanksgiving week.

[00:14:15] So let's break it down.

[00:14:16] Let's talk about it.

[00:14:17] Let's share our thoughts.

[00:14:18] We're going to start with a hot take.

[00:14:18] We're going to share exactly how we felt about this movie.

[00:14:20] Brian, what did you think about Christmas Under the Lights?

[00:14:22] Yeah, I thought it was very well written.

[00:14:25] I thought it had a nice atmosphere.

[00:14:28] I thought the characters were really good.

[00:14:30] And it sort of felt like it felt like a three right down the middle is what it felt like.

[00:14:35] A three right down the middle.

[00:14:36] Yeah, it did.

[00:14:37] A little bit above average.

[00:14:38] I would say.

[00:14:39] Yeah.

[00:14:39] Like, just three right down the middle is what I would say.

[00:14:43] Yeah.

[00:14:43] And what it is.

[00:14:44] So it's just a very traditional.

[00:14:45] Well, I was sort of expecting.

[00:14:48] Two and a half.

[00:14:49] I think that.

[00:14:50] Everyone knows it.

[00:14:51] My expectations for the heat level were really high on this.

[00:14:55] Like, I thought that.

[00:14:57] The heat level in regards to like the two leads.

[00:15:00] And Heather Hemmonds.

[00:15:01] I thought the smoke was going to be coming out of my TV.

[00:15:04] You didn't think it was?

[00:15:05] No, I didn't.

[00:15:05] I thought they were great together.

[00:15:07] There were moments that was like, oh, here we go.

[00:15:09] Here we go.

[00:15:10] But I thought it was just going to be like sort of nonstop.

[00:15:14] But I thought it was really good overall.

[00:15:16] I thought they did a really good job.

[00:15:17] Antonio, obviously great to see Antonio on the screen, especially back in a cowboy hat.

[00:15:23] Back on the ranch.

[00:15:23] Where he belongs.

[00:15:24] Yeah.

[00:15:25] There was a joke about not liking ranch dressing that, yeah, same.

[00:15:28] Touch my heart.

[00:15:29] I don't like ranch dressing either.

[00:15:30] So I thought the light designs were pretty cool for, you know, picking up scraps around the farm.

[00:15:35] Good job.

[00:15:35] I don't agree with you about their chemistry.

[00:15:37] I thought we actually had to get a new TV because so much.

[00:15:40] Oh, it caused a full fire.

[00:15:41] I love to buy new TV.

[00:15:42] Are you sure?

[00:15:43] I know.

[00:15:43] It's not a problem.

[00:15:43] Yeah, that's the only reason we bought a new TV was because of that.

[00:15:46] It had nothing to do with the fact that it's been a few years and Dan's getting antsy.

[00:15:49] There's soap in it.

[00:15:51] This, I thought that these two leads had dynamite chemistry.

[00:15:54] They were together and it just like every time they looked at each other, I was like,

[00:15:57] I don't feel like I should be watching this.

[00:15:58] So like amazing chemistry.

[00:16:00] I thought these two crushed it.

[00:16:02] There's a couple of scenes in particular.

[00:16:03] Apparently those are the scenes.

[00:16:04] I imagine those were the scenes that you're alluding to that actually you did see the chemistry

[00:16:09] and the sparks.

[00:16:12] There were a few scenes in particular.

[00:16:15] I almost said in specific.

[00:16:17] In particular, that MIAI.

[00:16:22] But in particular, that really made the movie really something special.

[00:16:28] It popped.

[00:16:29] I thought that this movie should have been a right down the middle.

[00:16:34] And I thought that overall, the couple, the chemistry, and the script, as you mentioned,

[00:16:41] elevates it.

[00:16:42] I thought that this was an above average movie in a relatively average year for Hallmark.

[00:16:48] And so I was surprised by this movie.

[00:16:50] I really, really enjoyed myself.

[00:16:52] And I think you mentioned the, what was it, the atmosphere?

[00:16:56] What did you say?

[00:16:57] Yeah.

[00:16:58] Just the atmosphere.

[00:16:58] I turned to Dan at one point and I said, this movie's really cozy.

[00:17:02] And I don't fully know how to explain it, but there's something about this movie that's

[00:17:07] cozy.

[00:17:07] And don't mishear me.

[00:17:10] Don't mishear cozy for boring because it wasn't boring.

[00:17:13] There was something about it that just felt nice and like what you kind of want out of

[00:17:18] these movies.

[00:17:18] You want it to feel like a nice blanket on a cold night.

[00:17:20] And that's what this movie felt like.

[00:17:21] I really liked it.

[00:17:22] Dano?

[00:17:23] Yeah.

[00:17:23] This movie is knocking on the door of my top 10.

[00:17:26] So it was better than the average movie of this year.

[00:17:31] Not my thing, but also like way better than I thought it was going to be.

[00:17:36] And here's my hot take on this.

[00:17:38] The guy that wrote this movie is Russell Hainline.

[00:17:40] He also wrote a little movie called Hot Frosty.

[00:17:42] Now I'm pretty sure someone else had the story for this and then he wrote it for Hallmark.

[00:17:48] We've heard a ton about Hot Frosty this year and how, you know, basically he came up with

[00:17:52] this story at a party and it was kind of like almost a dare to write this script.

[00:17:58] This is the dare script, not Hot Frosty.

[00:18:01] This is the dare script.

[00:18:02] Hey, Russell, it's a big city girl going back to a small town meeting the artist who deals

[00:18:09] in light, who works on an alpaca farm and you've got to plan a carnival.

[00:18:15] That's party planning.

[00:18:16] That's big city, small town.

[00:18:18] That's artists.

[00:18:19] That's all of these overused, overwrought, terrible Hallmark movie tropes in one movie.

[00:18:26] And Russell Hainline, it's like somebody gave him this.

[00:18:30] It's like chopped.

[00:18:30] Like here are your ingredients.

[00:18:32] Do you know what I mean?

[00:18:32] Like you got to somehow make a dish with all these ingredients.

[00:18:36] And I can't imagine you being able to do better with the ingredients that you were given.

[00:18:41] So for me, this is a triumph for Russell Hainline, considering the story that he has to tell.

[00:18:46] Marco Grazzini and Heather Hemans on fire when they're together.

[00:18:50] Absolutely on fire.

[00:18:51] The problem is, is at the end of the day, this movie is a party planning movie and it just

[00:18:56] so happens the order we watch these movies in, this has got to be at least the 13th dead

[00:19:00] parent movie in a row that I've watched.

[00:19:02] I don't know what to tell you.

[00:19:03] Moment of silence for the dead parents.

[00:19:04] Did Jingle Bell Run have a dead parent?

[00:19:06] Because I think that might be the last one we watched that didn't have one.

[00:19:09] Jingle Bell Run had a dead son.

[00:19:10] Okay.

[00:19:11] That's right.

[00:19:12] Daughter.

[00:19:12] Every movie.

[00:19:13] That child.

[00:19:14] And I know that Hallmark deals in dead family members.

[00:19:16] I understand that.

[00:19:16] But this year, I feel like-

[00:19:18] They're in the business of dead family members.

[00:19:21] I feel like there's a dead parent in every single movie.

[00:19:25] And so this is kind of where I broke on that.

[00:19:28] But if you take all of these very generic things that I never want to see again in a

[00:19:32] Hallmark movie and you put it in a chop basket and Russell Hainline took those

[00:19:36] and he kind of worked magic considering what the movie on paper looks like.

[00:19:41] It looks terrible on paper and it's watchable on film.

[00:19:45] So good for him.

[00:19:48] There is a website sometimes that people use called Does the Dog Die?

[00:19:52] And it's like we find out if there's a movie that has an animal in it, if the animal makes

[00:19:57] it because people really don't see that.

[00:19:59] Oh, I'm so important.

[00:19:59] We need this for Hallmark.

[00:20:01] We need like does-

[00:20:02] Yeah, it'd just be every movie.

[00:20:03] Does my mom die?

[00:20:04] And then that will help.

[00:20:06] Website just says yes.

[00:20:07] Yes.

[00:20:07] For all the movies this year.

[00:20:09] It would honestly be a pretty good idea for a website.

[00:20:11] I think it would actually-

[00:20:11] People would really utilize that.

[00:20:13] Take that run with us.

[00:20:13] Give us some money.

[00:20:14] Just a little bit even.

[00:20:15] A little bit.

[00:20:16] What if they pay you in Dead Parents?

[00:20:18] No.

[00:20:18] That's the currency.

[00:20:20] I don't do in Dead Parents.

[00:20:21] No.

[00:20:21] An unbelievable year this has been in regards to-

[00:20:24] Oh my gosh.

[00:20:25] Every movie.

[00:20:26] They're making a statement.

[00:20:27] Yeah.

[00:20:29] Yeah, but there used to be a lot of dead grandparents or aunts, but this year it's like severe.

[00:20:36] Are we going nuts, Aaron?

[00:20:38] This feels more than it has been the last couple of years.

[00:20:42] Yeah.

[00:20:42] No, it's insane.

[00:20:44] I feel like a lot of the movies, there's a lot more dead relatives than usual.

[00:20:49] I have a friend who recently lost a parent, so I've been trying to keep an eye on these

[00:20:53] movies.

[00:20:54] So it would be helpful.

[00:20:55] I just feel like there's a lot more like, hey, you should be worried about this movie

[00:20:59] than in past years.

[00:21:01] It's almost every other movie.

[00:21:02] I understand that it's going to be a thing because it's a thing that happens in life.

[00:21:09] Holiday Touchdown did not have a dead parent.

[00:21:11] It had one dead grandparent, three were alive.

[00:21:13] Dead grandparent.

[00:21:13] But that's really like, because I'm looking, Christmas with the Sings, Finish Line, Santa

[00:21:17] Tell Me, Five Year Christmas Party, Christmas Quest, Three Wiser Men, Confessions of a Christmas

[00:21:21] Letter, Our Holiday Story, like all of these movies.

[00:21:24] What's the Three Wiser Men?

[00:21:25] The Dad.

[00:21:26] Oh yeah, The Dad's a...

[00:21:26] Christmas on Call, 90s Christmas.

[00:21:29] But wasn't he already gone?

[00:21:30] In the first one?

[00:21:31] That's a big part of the story still is the mom's moving on.

[00:21:35] Yeah, yeah.

[00:21:35] Christmas Under the Lights.

[00:21:38] Carol for Two, The Mom's Dead, right?

[00:21:40] Mm-hmm.

[00:21:42] Like we're getting into movies I don't remember anymore.

[00:21:44] Holiday Crashers, is there a dead parent?

[00:21:45] I don't remember.

[00:21:46] But like, I just read you all of my favorites from the year.

[00:21:51] And aside from Holiday Touchdown, they all have dead parents.

[00:21:56] All of them.

[00:21:56] I gotta be honest, Dan, you're in trouble though, because if Hallmark goes and looks at your

[00:22:00] list, they're gonna be like, Dan wants more of this.

[00:22:02] More dead parents, yeah.

[00:22:03] We have one common denominator here.

[00:22:04] Yeah.

[00:22:05] That's a diagram on that one.

[00:22:07] That's right.

[00:22:08] Let's get to all the feels where we're talking about what in this video game is this feels.

[00:22:11] I love the idea of Hallmark exec looking at Dan's letterbox.

[00:22:14] What do we need more of?

[00:22:16] Come here, everybody.

[00:22:17] Look what I've figured out.

[00:22:18] There's one thing.

[00:22:19] Crack the code.

[00:22:21] It's not that these movies are good.

[00:22:22] It's that they're killing a parent.

[00:22:24] That's right.

[00:22:24] Make them all.

[00:22:27] Brian?

[00:22:27] Yeah.

[00:22:28] Feels.

[00:22:28] Yes.

[00:22:29] Yes.

[00:22:29] Of course.

[00:22:29] Yes.

[00:22:30] There were some really notable standout scene transitions in this one, switching back

[00:22:34] and forth from the past to the present and just moving sets was really cool.

[00:22:39] They did a good job with that.

[00:22:40] The date conversation, I thought it was great.

[00:22:43] A lot of adult conversations happening here.

[00:22:46] Yes.

[00:22:46] That date convo, all they did was sit there.

[00:22:48] I don't even know if they had food in front of them.

[00:22:50] The camera just went back and forth, back and forth.

[00:22:52] All they did is talk.

[00:22:53] The whole time, I was really engaged in it.

[00:22:56] I felt like I was sitting next to them at the restaurant and just peeping on in.

[00:23:00] It was really engaging.

[00:23:02] Really, really good job there.

[00:23:03] And I will just say, one part of that conversation that worked for me more than I thought that

[00:23:08] it would was the conversation about, she's talking about her mom, who's passed, and he's

[00:23:14] talking about the light and the particles and how it's all.

[00:23:16] And for some reason, that all still kind of worked for me.

[00:23:19] That worked for me, too.

[00:23:20] Even though it was kind of like, what's happening right now?

[00:23:23] I felt like he's the guy who's always like, hey, do you remember that I know stuff about

[00:23:27] light?

[00:23:27] It's like he always brings up light.

[00:23:29] But maybe it's just because he said it, and dadgummit, he's dreamy.

[00:23:35] That settles it.

[00:23:37] It did work.

[00:23:39] To that point, to the thing about adult conversations and whatnot, after this date, a phenomenal

[00:23:45] scene of she just goes and she hugs him, and then she looks at him and says, I believe

[00:23:50] in you.

[00:23:50] And it's such a...

[00:23:52] Not almost kiss.

[00:23:54] No, it's not.

[00:23:55] It's not almost kiss.

[00:23:56] It's something that I think people do.

[00:23:57] People just say, you don't always have to kiss.

[00:24:01] Sometimes you just hug somebody.

[00:24:02] And the power that comes from somebody that you care about looking at you and saying, hey,

[00:24:09] I believe in you, is partly, in large part, why we're doing this show still to this day.

[00:24:17] Correct.

[00:24:17] It's because we had people in our lives that looked at us and said, yeah, this is stupid.

[00:24:22] This is a stupid idea.

[00:24:23] I believe in you.

[00:24:24] Go and do it.

[00:24:25] Yeah.

[00:24:25] And so what a wonderful moment.

[00:24:26] Imagine going home to your significant other and telling them you're going to quit a 20

[00:24:30] year career.

[00:24:31] Yeah.

[00:24:32] To do a podcast network.

[00:24:33] And then be like, okay, go for it.

[00:24:35] Yeah.

[00:24:35] There's nothing more empowering.

[00:24:36] Yeah.

[00:24:36] Gave me chills there, Brian.

[00:24:38] Okay.

[00:24:38] Good stuff.

[00:24:39] That was mine too.

[00:24:40] They're gone.

[00:24:41] They're gone.

[00:24:41] I love this.

[00:24:42] That's nice too.

[00:24:43] That's real nice.

[00:24:44] Let's take a break.

[00:24:45] We'll come back.

[00:24:46] We'll get to the way we went.

[00:24:47] That's for the people on Philo.

[00:24:48] Philo, you saw what we just did.

[00:24:49] And I can't sue because I'm a contractor.

[00:24:51] That's right.

[00:24:51] That's what I'm being told.

[00:24:52] That's not a contract.

[00:24:53] It doesn't say anything about them on the South Carolina laws over there.

[00:24:55] It doesn't say anything about the contract.

[00:24:57] That's for Aaron.

[00:24:57] That's for Aaron.

[00:24:59] We won't.

[00:25:00] We'll be back after the show.

[00:25:01] I'll answer this.

[00:25:04] Merry Christmas.

[00:25:05] Big week.

[00:25:09] Brian, buying wine can be overwhelming.

[00:25:12] I've been there.

[00:25:12] Because you go to the store.

[00:25:13] You go to the wine store.

[00:25:14] You go to whatever store you buy wine.

[00:25:16] And it's just a sea of reds, whites, sparklings, rosés, blushes.

[00:25:22] I don't know.

[00:25:23] I don't know.

[00:25:23] Like I know what wine is, but I don't know anything about it.

[00:25:27] My wife will be like, can you go pay me up a couple bottles?

[00:25:29] Oh my gosh.

[00:25:29] And then I just stand there.

[00:25:31] Yeah.

[00:25:31] Looking like a buffoon.

[00:25:32] And you got to act like you know what you're talking about.

[00:25:34] Can I get one of those?

[00:25:35] That's right.

[00:25:35] One of these.

[00:25:36] Is the higher shelf the better shelf?

[00:25:37] I don't know.

[00:25:38] I just know when I drink it, it either tastes good or tastes bad.

[00:25:41] And here's the thing is, the good news is Naked Wines has figured the rest out for me.

[00:25:45] Okay.

[00:25:46] How so?

[00:25:46] They will send wine directly to my house.

[00:25:49] They're going to skip the middleman.

[00:25:50] I get to choose red, white, or mix.

[00:25:52] That's all I have to choose.

[00:25:53] And then they send me some of the best wines in the country, some of the best wines in the world.

[00:25:57] And they do it for a crazy price, including free shipping.

[00:26:00] And I'm already on my second order of these wines.

[00:26:03] And the wines are fantastic.

[00:26:05] It takes all of the guessing out of buying wine and drinking wine.

[00:26:08] And you get to keep all the enjoyment.

[00:26:10] And you get to keep a little bit more money in your pocket, Brian.

[00:26:13] If you like what you're hearing and you're interested in finding out more, I've got a little bit of a deal for you.

[00:26:17] And by a little bit, I mean of a lot of a deal because it's massive.

[00:26:20] Head to nakedwines.com slash deck the hallmark.

[00:26:24] That's all one word.

[00:26:25] And click enter voucher in the top right when you go to the website and put in deck the hallmark.

[00:26:30] Again, all one word for both the code and the voucher.

[00:26:32] If it's like what it was for you and I, it will fill in automatically for you.

[00:26:37] But if not, the code is both the code and the password is deck the hallmark.

[00:26:41] And here's the thing.

[00:26:42] You're going to get six bottles.

[00:26:44] And you can go with red, white, or a mix.

[00:26:46] And you're going to get it for just $39.99.

[00:26:50] That is $100 off.

[00:26:53] That's crazy.

[00:26:53] Shipping is included.

[00:26:54] It comes out to less than $7 per dollar.

[00:26:58] $7 per bottle is what I'm trying to say.

[00:27:01] I'm so excited.

[00:27:02] Pass nakedwines.com slash deck the hallmark.

[00:27:09] You're going to use the code and password deck the hallmark and get six bottles for $39.99.

[00:27:15] One more time because I goofed it up earlier.

[00:27:18] It's nakedwines.com slash deck the hallmark.

[00:27:22] Code and password deck the hallmark.

[00:27:24] All one word.

[00:27:25] $100 off your first six bottles.

[00:27:27] Go, go, go.

[00:27:32] I do think.

[00:27:34] Back we are for now high.

[00:27:35] I do think.

[00:27:36] Beep, boop, boop.

[00:27:37] This is the first time in the history of the show you said we'll be back after the show.

[00:27:43] I think this is worth 1,300 episodes in.

[00:27:46] Your bingo card.

[00:27:47] It's so hot.

[00:27:47] It's so hot.

[00:27:48] It feels so nice.

[00:27:50] This office is impossible.

[00:27:52] Can't we just?

[00:27:53] No one cares.

[00:27:54] Nobody cares.

[00:27:54] But it has been very cold here in Georgia, South Carolina.

[00:27:57] And the hardest part about this office space is figuring out the freaking climate control

[00:28:02] because there's no sweet spot.

[00:28:04] There's no sweet spot.

[00:28:06] And Brian has it worst of all because for some reason, our office, Brian and I, we have,

[00:28:12] it's just more powerful there.

[00:28:15] More cold there.

[00:28:15] But we could use it right now.

[00:28:17] We could turn on the air.

[00:28:17] The AC is kicking full.

[00:28:19] It just isn't competing with the heat.

[00:28:20] The air is on.

[00:28:21] The AC is on right now.

[00:28:22] And it's just like, I can't.

[00:28:23] You guys waited too long.

[00:28:24] The AC is like you waited too long.

[00:28:26] Yeah, it's too long.

[00:28:26] And my hands are tied.

[00:28:27] I understand what you want, but I can't give you what you want in this moment.

[00:28:34] We'll be back after this show.

[00:28:37] It's time for the wait.

[00:28:38] What, Brian?

[00:28:39] Yeah.

[00:28:40] The, I just assume somewhere on the cutting room floor or a bunch of spit takes the Alonzo

[00:28:45] Antonio got to do.

[00:28:46] Just hit him over there.

[00:28:48] Yeah.

[00:28:49] That was the one thing I saw him.

[00:28:51] I'm like, he's got to be spitting some tobacco all over that farm.

[00:28:53] I mean, that guy, that's the one thing they're missing here.

[00:28:55] Uh, the driving fast scene with the hot coffee stressed me out more than it should have.

[00:29:00] I was very, when she was just flying around willy nilly holding, I think she actually opened

[00:29:05] the coffee cup like too much, just too much.

[00:29:10] She didn't make a big enough deal about spilling the coffee on herself.

[00:29:12] No, the shirt barely stained.

[00:29:15] Like just, you got to drench that thing.

[00:29:16] But even if it's just like a little, like that's hot.

[00:29:18] Yeah.

[00:29:18] There's a lot of coffee spilling this year.

[00:29:20] She handled that very well.

[00:29:22] Like she does it all the time.

[00:29:23] Maybe she does it all the time.

[00:29:24] Be careful.

[00:29:25] Please.

[00:29:26] Uh, the husband, um, now made her making Russ writing.

[00:29:29] Now it's all those movies is hilarious.

[00:29:31] That is funny.

[00:29:31] This is great.

[00:29:32] Yeah.

[00:29:32] Him through line.

[00:29:33] And I know they got to do the thing where it's like, he's not, he's at work.

[00:29:35] He's doing this.

[00:29:36] He's doing that.

[00:29:37] He's smoking a turkey at nine 30 at night for the, was it for the party?

[00:29:43] Even because everybody's already partying.

[00:29:44] They're probably more than halfway done.

[00:29:46] That turkey, I think it was just for him.

[00:29:48] Yeah.

[00:29:48] I actually went in 2025, the year that we get now back on the show.

[00:29:51] I missed that guy.

[00:29:52] He's after all day.

[00:29:53] And after that, Deki acceptance speech, we got to update him on a lot of stuff like

[00:29:58] where Panda is and whatnot.

[00:29:59] He does some updates.

[00:30:00] Yeah.

[00:30:00] So yeah, really not obviously.

[00:30:03] Yeah.

[00:30:03] Uh, not a lot of wait.

[00:30:05] What's for me?

[00:30:05] Um, cause just straight down the middle.

[00:30:08] Sure.

[00:30:08] Good job.

[00:30:08] Sure.

[00:30:09] Sure.

[00:30:09] Sure.

[00:30:09] Sure.

[00:30:10] Um, so she has the idea about, uh, long boys about, yeah.

[00:30:19] About carries it.

[00:30:21] It does.

[00:30:22] In the humidity.

[00:30:23] It expands.

[00:30:26] Um, she has the idea.

[00:30:27] Oh, he's good with light art.

[00:30:29] Mm-hmm.

[00:30:30] And so she does the logical thing and she goes and she talks to her brother and asks,

[00:30:36] Hey, do you think that he would be interested in making art again?

[00:30:41] And then he says to her, you tell me.

[00:30:47] No.

[00:30:48] She's not, she's her.

[00:30:50] She's not him.

[00:30:51] So what, how, what would she know about it?

[00:30:55] She doesn't know him.

[00:30:57] She's asking you cause you're like the guy's best buddy.

[00:31:01] You've been hanging around.

[00:31:02] He's been living with you.

[00:31:04] Maybe you have some insights.

[00:31:06] I don't want to go over there and poke the, the light bear over here.

[00:31:10] If he's like, if the art is a sensitive topic, I don't want to, but Hey, do you think

[00:31:14] he'd be interested in or doing the art again?

[00:31:16] You tell me.

[00:31:18] My hands are tied here.

[00:31:20] Um, I thought that was a, of all the responses you can give in that moment.

[00:31:24] That was one of the more wild ones.

[00:31:25] You tell me, you tell me as somebody who is also not the person that you're asking about.

[00:31:30] Um, let's talk about white elephant and what it is.

[00:31:33] What it is not.

[00:31:34] It's not that right.

[00:31:34] What it is not is what that is.

[00:31:36] What they did here in the movie.

[00:31:38] It is not it.

[00:31:39] Um, for a couple of, so they do an interesting thing where they

[00:31:44] draw the numbers and as they're about to draw the numbers, they, she says, no, no

[00:31:49] changes, no exchanges.

[00:31:50] Right.

[00:31:51] And so Dan brings up a wonderful point.

[00:31:53] He's like, isn't exchanges the whole part?

[00:31:54] Yeah.

[00:31:55] The whole point of white elephant.

[00:31:56] So what she was getting at is you can't change the numbers, whatever number you draw.

[00:32:01] I was like, okay.

[00:32:02] But why would anybody want to do that?

[00:32:03] I've never thought to do it, but okay.

[00:32:05] It's always good to put it out.

[00:32:06] It's a snake draft.

[00:32:07] It's a snake draft.

[00:32:08] But then, then she, uh, uh, they, they do the thing.

[00:32:13] She pulls the, I'm imagining they were the, uh, deer foam slippers.

[00:32:18] Yes, of course.

[00:32:19] Um, he, she gets the deer foam slippers.

[00:32:22] He takes the deer foam slippers and then she takes it back from him.

[00:32:25] And the way that I've always done it is a no takesie backsies rule in regards to the

[00:32:31] stealing.

[00:32:31] I, I was under the impression we all have agreed over, over the long period of time

[00:32:35] that this game has been around that a, an item is, uh, frozen after it is stolen two

[00:32:41] times.

[00:32:42] But if it is stolen from you, no matter what happens, you can't steal that back.

[00:32:49] And so maybe, maybe people play it.

[00:32:51] Aaron, am I?

[00:32:52] Oh, sorry.

[00:32:53] Go ahead.

[00:32:53] Was it different rounds?

[00:32:54] It was like right away.

[00:32:56] No, no, no.

[00:32:56] She gets a different gift.

[00:32:58] That gift gets taken.

[00:32:59] And then she takes her slippers back from the person that took them from her.

[00:33:02] Do you think that's fair?

[00:33:03] I just thought like he had taken them from her.

[00:33:05] Then someone else picked a gift, which is a new round.

[00:33:08] Yes.

[00:33:08] I always thought in a new round, you could take it back.

[00:33:11] Interesting.

[00:33:11] I've always played.

[00:33:12] You can't take it back from the person that took it from you.

[00:33:14] Regardless of rounds.

[00:33:15] Doesn't matter.

[00:33:16] But I mean, cause in one round, it's not like Dan takes it from you.

[00:33:19] You take it from Dan.

[00:33:20] And then we just hear forever.

[00:33:21] For sure.

[00:33:21] What happens is if she chooses a terrible gift and this kid comes in and they let the

[00:33:26] kid choose.

[00:33:26] Then she gets another chance.

[00:33:28] It's yeah.

[00:33:29] So fair game.

[00:33:30] I thought it was fair game.

[00:33:30] All right.

[00:33:31] There you go.

[00:33:31] There you go.

[00:33:33] And then I, I, I just love this moment at the end of the movie.

[00:33:36] There was, I didn't work into the synopsis cause ultimately it does not matter, but there

[00:33:40] is somebody who wants to hire her to like be the head of marketing or whatever.

[00:33:46] Of course.

[00:33:47] And she decides that she wants to become her own.

[00:33:50] She wants to start her own agency.

[00:33:51] So she goes up to this woman and she says, okay, here's the situation I'm in, but you need

[00:33:55] to hire my agency.

[00:33:57] Yeah.

[00:33:57] Don't hire me.

[00:33:58] That's right.

[00:33:58] You're going to hire my new agency for tax purposes.

[00:34:00] And I've never seen a, a more accurate depiction of sounds like semantics to me, but okay.

[00:34:07] She's just kind of like, I don't care how we do it.

[00:34:10] I don't care how we draw this up.

[00:34:12] I don't want you to do the freaking work.

[00:34:14] However, whatever, that doesn't matter.

[00:34:16] It was a purge.

[00:34:17] She just, she was so nice.

[00:34:18] She's like, it doesn't matter.

[00:34:20] Sure.

[00:34:20] Yeah.

[00:34:20] We, we, whatever, whatever you say, buckaroo was very, very funny to me and accurate because

[00:34:27] this is always like, it's like a big moment for the person who started their business.

[00:34:30] They're like, I'm going to do this thing and I'm going to put my foot down.

[00:34:33] And then at the end of the day, does it matter?

[00:34:36] Yeah.

[00:34:37] As long as you're doing the story of my life, man.

[00:34:39] Dano.

[00:34:39] Uh, early in this movie, uh, contract and we can do what we want to do.

[00:34:43] Absolutely.

[00:34:44] What to tingles.

[00:34:45] If you want to, uh, I'm not going to say no, uh, early in this movie, K own is explaining

[00:34:50] why he needs to bring his sister in to play in this carnival.

[00:34:54] And his reasoning is carnivals are hard.

[00:34:57] Animals are easy.

[00:34:58] There's a schedule with animals.

[00:35:00] Listen, there's a lot of reasons that a carnival is different.

[00:35:04] Planting a carnival is different than taking care of farm animals.

[00:35:07] Yeah.

[00:35:07] But one of them is not schedule.

[00:35:09] Like, do you think planning a carnival is just a hodgepodge beluga free for all have

[00:35:13] at it, loser walks?

[00:35:14] Like, do you think like planning a carnival is not a very regimented scheduled thing of

[00:35:21] how to get the rides and attractions when they're open, the ticket, like a lot of it

[00:35:28] is more like, yeah, the people it's people.

[00:35:31] Yes.

[00:35:31] Just know because people.

[00:35:32] Yeah.

[00:35:33] I think his point, his point is different.

[00:35:36] Yeah.

[00:35:37] But that's not what he said.

[00:35:39] Another point is these animals, the schedule is made for me by mommy.

[00:35:42] Uh, there's other stuff I'm having to go.

[00:35:44] I got to figure out the schedule and I don't want to do that.

[00:35:48] Um, also, uh, gang, can we retire the?

[00:35:52] The alternative milk in coffee is not, is crazy bit guys.

[00:35:58] It is not 2012.

[00:36:01] Like Greenville is not a big city.

[00:36:03] It is a small town.

[00:36:06] We've got all of that.

[00:36:08] Can I ask you to just wait for it?

[00:36:10] Follow up on this.

[00:36:10] Wait for it.

[00:36:11] Sorry.

[00:36:11] Go ahead.

[00:36:12] Around Greenville.

[00:36:13] There are actual small towns.

[00:36:15] We are like a hallmark town.

[00:36:16] We're like a little bit bigger than what you would think of with a small town, but we're

[00:36:21] not the capital of the state.

[00:36:22] We're not a big city, but you can go in any direction.

[00:36:25] It's curious.

[00:36:26] Wait for it.

[00:36:27] Wait for it.

[00:36:28] Go ahead.

[00:36:29] We can go in any direction to smaller towns and they all will have oat milk or almond milk.

[00:36:34] Now you need to know something.

[00:36:35] I was born and grew up in Hopkins, South Carolina, a very small town.

[00:36:41] They might not even have a coffee shop in Hopkins, South Carolina.

[00:36:45] And if you're listening from Hopkins and you guys have grown, please let me know.

[00:36:49] I'll be back there before I die because as you know, I'll die in a small town.

[00:36:53] That's what I can't.

[00:36:54] Yeah.

[00:36:54] Finish your point.

[00:36:55] So there is, I'm sure there are places that don't have oat milk, almond milk, soy milk,

[00:37:01] whatever, but the joke that that's unheard of is over.

[00:37:05] It is so far beyond in most every small town with a coffee shop, you will find multiple

[00:37:13] forms of milk.

[00:37:14] It just doesn't work anymore.

[00:37:16] And we also have, I think we have all adopted oat milk in our lattes because it is a superior

[00:37:23] milk for lattes.

[00:37:24] It brings out flavor.

[00:37:24] And if you haven't done it, it's just a game changer.

[00:37:26] Correct.

[00:37:26] But it'd be like making jokes about pagers right now.

[00:37:29] Like we just, it doesn't make any, stop it.

[00:37:31] Stop it.

[00:37:32] Yeah.

[00:37:32] Can I ask you this?

[00:37:33] Yeah, please.

[00:37:34] I honestly, I hadn't given you, you brought up the different sizes of this town and the

[00:37:40] surrounding towns.

[00:37:41] Correct.

[00:37:41] Yes.

[00:37:42] Would you be open to dying in Greenville?

[00:37:45] I mean, I started by saying Greenville is a small town.

[00:37:49] That's how I started the conversation.

[00:37:51] You covered those bases.

[00:37:51] I did.

[00:37:52] So if it's a small town, Bram, what do you know about me?

[00:37:55] You would die there.

[00:37:56] I'll die there.

[00:37:57] Thank you.

[00:37:57] But isn't it ultimately at, uh, it's in the eye of the beholder then?

[00:38:02] Yeah.

[00:38:02] Yeah.

[00:38:02] I think so.

[00:38:03] Because the people, the people from the smaller town, like Hopkins might be like, I don't want

[00:38:07] to move to Greenville.

[00:38:08] That's right.

[00:38:08] It's a big town.

[00:38:09] And I will say this.

[00:38:09] That's why I have nothing against a big town because people in big towns could believe they're

[00:38:13] in a small town.

[00:38:14] So you wouldn't die there?

[00:38:15] No.

[00:38:16] No.

[00:38:16] I'm, I'll die in a small town.

[00:38:18] I think that's very clear.

[00:38:19] Greenville.

[00:38:20] Or another.

[00:38:21] Or another.

[00:38:21] Is there a number?

[00:38:23] I mean, currently 65,000 in Greenville and then 250,000 around it.

[00:38:27] That's pretty close to the number you would think, right?

[00:38:29] Yeah.

[00:38:29] I think it is actually probably a little bit too high.

[00:38:31] I don't think it's a big town is all I'm saying.

[00:38:33] Yeah.

[00:38:34] So do I have to, do I have to, when, am I going to get a text one day, bring me to

[00:38:38] Hopkins?

[00:38:38] We'll see.

[00:38:39] We'll see what Greenville is.

[00:38:39] We'll play by ear.

[00:38:40] You think Greenville is going to go down?

[00:38:42] Maybe.

[00:38:42] I can't imagine.

[00:38:43] Who knows?

[00:38:44] I mean, I'm still young, man.

[00:38:46] Was a town this good?

[00:38:47] Yeah.

[00:38:47] With a town this good.

[00:38:48] With a town this good, it'd be tough.

[00:38:48] It'd be tough.

[00:38:50] Antonio Cam brings a six pack of beer to the White Elephant gift, wraps it up, and

[00:38:54] puts it in the fridge.

[00:38:55] Heck yeah, man.

[00:38:56] Great bit.

[00:38:56] Yep.

[00:38:57] The guy that chooses the gift, chooses the gift, opens it, cracks open three beers, hands

[00:39:02] them to his bros, and they start drinking.

[00:39:04] That's a power play.

[00:39:05] Someone can take your gift still.

[00:39:08] You can't do that.

[00:39:09] I love that play.

[00:39:10] You can't do it.

[00:39:11] It's against the rules.

[00:39:12] You can take the can if you think the can's neat.

[00:39:15] But you drank the beer.

[00:39:16] But the beer's not in it.

[00:39:17] Can't do it.

[00:39:18] There's nothing you can do about it.

[00:39:18] Yeah.

[00:39:20] And lastly, another beer-related one.

[00:39:24] Kayon and his boys love that beer.

[00:39:25] They love it.

[00:39:26] At the carnival at the end of the movie.

[00:39:28] Kayon's a functioning alcoholic in this movie.

[00:39:30] He is.

[00:39:30] There's a sneaky undertone.

[00:39:32] He doesn't really talk about how he is.

[00:39:34] He's just always like, I'm good.

[00:39:35] I'm good.

[00:39:35] Yeah.

[00:39:35] I bet you are, bud.

[00:39:36] He also thinks that carnivals don't have schedules.

[00:39:39] So there's that.

[00:39:40] They're at the carnival.

[00:39:41] It's broad daylight.

[00:39:42] Maybe noon.

[00:39:43] They crack open their first one.

[00:39:44] By the end of the carnival, they're still drinking beer.

[00:39:47] And I'm not like, I'm just here.

[00:39:49] It sounds like a fun time.

[00:39:51] I just, you know, seem like it was a commitment they made to sun up to sundown.

[00:39:56] These guys are going to have a beer in their hand, which is a commitment you don't see from Hallmark that often.

[00:39:59] That's true.

[00:40:00] That's true.

[00:40:00] There you have it.

[00:40:01] Did we do it?

[00:40:02] We got a good what to Hallmark.

[00:40:04] So no, we did not answer your question.

[00:40:06] Hey, we'll be right back after this show.

[00:40:07] After this show.

[00:40:08] Join us.

[00:40:09] Yo.

[00:40:10] You want to get out of here so bad.

[00:40:11] I don't know what's going on.

[00:40:12] I don't know what's going on with me today.

[00:40:13] Big week.

[00:40:14] Big week.

[00:40:15] Let's get to the what the Hallmark.

[00:40:16] It's the segment everyone knows.

[00:40:18] They love it.

[00:40:19] They understand the purpose of it.

[00:40:21] They get it.

[00:40:21] We would never change it.

[00:40:23] No.

[00:40:23] We would never talk about it.

[00:40:25] No.

[00:40:25] We wouldn't even throw it out to anybody.

[00:40:27] We were going to give relationship advice.

[00:40:28] Dumb idea.

[00:40:29] I do.

[00:40:30] Is it?

[00:40:32] Let's get to it.

[00:40:33] Anything that you still have questions about that you would like?

[00:40:35] Yeah, I'm more fried, Bran.

[00:40:38] You memes are franny.

[00:40:41] On the point of Antonio being just, I'm fine.

[00:40:45] I'm fine.

[00:40:45] Just give me my good old beer that I enjoy.

[00:40:47] What was he doing this whole movie?

[00:40:49] He wasn't really doing animal stuff.

[00:40:51] He was looking for one file.

[00:40:53] Yes.

[00:40:54] Yeah.

[00:40:54] He's at his table.

[00:40:56] Just doing the.

[00:40:57] Actually, if that's what he's doing,

[00:40:59] and then I get the annoyance and the pressure there.

[00:41:01] If you're having to just manage the accounting the whole time,

[00:41:04] that's brutal.

[00:41:04] But he was just really not around.

[00:41:06] Like, what was he?

[00:41:07] There was no like, hey, I got to go do this.

[00:41:09] He'd said one time, I think, I got to go to town for whatever.

[00:41:12] But other than that, it was never like explanation of what he's doing.

[00:41:16] He was just gone.

[00:41:17] You know what the heck?

[00:41:18] The town is days away.

[00:41:19] Disappeared.

[00:41:20] The horse and or the llama into town, maybe.

[00:41:22] Yeah.

[00:41:22] The town's days away.

[00:41:23] Anyway.

[00:41:24] Yeah.

[00:41:25] I mean, this is one of the interesting things where both of our leads are going into new

[00:41:32] ventures and they're going into new ventures together.

[00:41:36] In the same.

[00:41:36] This is my brand.

[00:41:37] In the same office space.

[00:41:38] Yes.

[00:41:39] One has the bottom floor.

[00:41:40] One is the top floor.

[00:41:41] Yeah.

[00:41:42] Imagine the breakup.

[00:41:43] I don't want to.

[00:41:45] Imagine if these two people break up and it's, if the breakup is as heated as the relationship

[00:41:51] is, they're going to see each other every day.

[00:41:53] They're under lease.

[00:41:54] That's going to be brutal.

[00:41:56] It's going to be brutal.

[00:41:57] Yeah.

[00:41:57] Like, that's going to be tough.

[00:41:59] I, the, the, that space that he rents is not big.

[00:42:02] It's maybe 15 feet across.

[00:42:03] He's going to hear her walking around all day up there.

[00:42:05] Oh yeah.

[00:42:05] Yeah.

[00:42:06] It's a nightmare.

[00:42:06] You got to work that into the contract for sure.

[00:42:08] Yeah.

[00:42:09] Okay.

[00:42:09] Like we have to have some.

[00:42:10] At that point, it's just like basically a prenup for a relationship.

[00:42:12] You got to be, you got to, you got to think about those things.

[00:42:15] You got to.

[00:42:16] We do have a congratulations.
