[00:00:54] [SPEAKER_01] I went back over the weekend, and I listened to all of our September episodes, and I realized I didn't say it. Not once. I didn't say it, and that's on me. And you know, I pride myself on making sure everybody knows that I wish them a happy month. And I didn't do it this month, and I had to get ahead of it. I got to be honest.

[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_00] I don't think you ever have done it. Back to zero. And we do it every time, and you say you pride yourself, and that's weird. I pride myself on thinking that I did. It's the thought that counts.

[00:01:28] [SPEAKER_01] I got to say, if the Christmas schedule doesn't come out this week, then I'm at a loss. It's just never coming out. Why? We'll all just, so far, so many of us are. Put all of our leaves in that autumn basket. You think they packed it up? Maybe they just went to do it? Maybe they packed it up. Maybe they're not doing it. But I'm excited. Boy, that'd be something. You've got to feel good about it. This weekend, we'll be like- We're not doing it.

[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_00] Hallmark just announced, hey, we're not doing it. We're going to shut it all down. We're going to shut it all down. We're using our skin. Deuces.

[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_00] Hallmark channel is just a picture of two fingers. Just do so. You've got too much going on. Just right there. Just don't know what you can do.

[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_01] They should do that one day. It's just saying, we're not doing it. Not today. We're not doing it. We're not doing it. We decided we're not doing it. Christmas is canceled. I will say the one- CCB wakes up. I knew it.

[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_01] I don't know for sure. The schedule is coming out this week. You've got to feel good about it. What I do know, though, in this, I don't know if this has been widely announced, but Dan, and you and I, we were talking about the Groomsmen Trilogy, as you and I do on a regular basis. After Dan wishes you a happy month, you guys talk about the Christmas.

[00:02:43] [SPEAKER_01] I was like, Dan was like, I think it's coming out soon. I was like, I didn't think it was coming out. It's a good one.

[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_01] I didn't think that the Grooms was coming out until January, and Dan was like, I think it's coming out in the fall. So I did a little research on my end, and I was like, yeah, it's supposed to be coming out this fall, but we don't have a date. That is, unless you go to the Groomsmen title on Hallmark Plus. Did you get an invitation? It says, premiering October 17th. Wow. Is that fun or what?

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_00] Doesn't bode well for us. It's October 17th. We are right here at Bramble Jam. That's a Thursday. We are screwed. We're scrambling. We are trying to cover everything.

I don't know if that information is confirmed. It hasn't been like, this is when it's happening. There hasn't been a big press release or whatever. But I just happened to go on to, like, I was looking for the trailer and it brought me to the Hallmark Blues Now website. Or Hallmark Plus. Hallmark Plus website. As you do. And it said it right there.

Yeah, happy September, everybody. The Heiress and the Handyman originally premiered on the Hallmark Channel on September 14th. He almost said Hong Kong.

[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_00] I think it. He almost honked. I believe for this movie it's Heiress and Onk Onk.

[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_01] I think it originally was on Hallmark Movies Now or something. It was for a while, yeah. It was on Hallmark Movies Now. September 14th, 2024. And it went a little something like this. June is in Brian's favorite place. Summer. He's in Malta. Oh, okay. And she is rich. Filthy rich. Yeah, I thought it was Grease. Yeah, definitely. Oh, is it Grease? Yeah. Okay, great. Which I couldn't care less about. No, you don't care about Grease. Popeye was everywhere. So she's so. Then why did you say Popeye? When we were watching it.

[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_00] When I saw it, I was like, oh. I just took your. I know so little about geography. I'm like, must be. As soon as it started, I went, this is Malta. We're never going to hear the end of it from Brian. And then she says Grease. That's all I needed. Yep. That was all I needed.

[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_02] Tune right out.

[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_00] I do exactly.

[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_01] Listen, I don't know much about anything, but I know about your fascination.

[00:09:17] [SPEAKER_00] If this is Malta.

[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_01] I know Brian's fascinated with Malta, and that's all I needed. She's so rich that a waiter brings her a landline phone on a platter. On the phone is Michael, her financial advisor guy, and has bad news. She's lost it all. No more money. It was a crypto crash. We've all been there. Apparently, all of her finances were in crypto. To the moon. And I've been there.

[00:09:41] I've been there.

[00:09:43] [SPEAKER_01] She's still there. She's no longer worth a fortune, and she doesn't know what she's going to do. All that she has left is this awesome slide phone that I guess she's given. Her dad's car, little town car, as they call it, and a random key left by her aunt, Birdie. She gets right to work, literally. She's a barista for a day, gets fired.

[00:10:09] [SPEAKER_01] She cuts hair for a day, but then she cuts someone's hair right off, and she just leaves. She's like, I'm not even going to wait to get fired for this one. And nothing's going well for her. She even is sleeping in her car. She realizes, though, that the key that Birdie left goes to a safety deposit box, and inside the box is the deed to a house in Greenville. Yeah, that Greenville? I don't know. I don't think so. They don't say it. But I'm going to hope that it is for the sake of Greenville, South Carolina.

[00:10:38] [SPEAKER_01] She immediately bumps into Bart, who she assumes is the help, but is actually just the neighbor. He's been taking care of the house while Birdie's estate was sorted. The initial interaction is rocky, to say the least. But they start hanging out, as they do. And she opens up about a house. She didn't really have much of a relationship with her parents, but she always loved when she would get to hang out with her Aunt Birdie, even though she never came to visit Aunt Birdie.

[00:11:09] [SPEAKER_01] She's either here or there, though. When she finds out that Birdie won the pie contest every year, she decides that she wants to enter the pie contest to continue Birdie's legacy and tell old grumpy, grumpy old Dottie over there that she can kick rocks. It's not great. She tries to make the pie. It's not great. But she's going to keep trying. She finds out that there's a backside of the recipe card. You always got to check the backside.

[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_00] Check the backside of the recipe card. Sure do.

[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_01] Just like she's trying to do with the pie, she's going to try to keep doing all the great things that Birdie did, such as raising a good hog. You know, sometimes you've got to. One thing Birdie didn't do, though, is fall in love with Bart, as far as we know. We don't get that story, but I don't think Birdie was in love with Bart. But she clearly is. She's falling in love with Bart. She's baking pies. She's working with the animals.

[00:12:03] [SPEAKER_01] She's all about that farm life. And it's time for the big fair. And she basically crushes. First try, yeah. She makes the pie. She wins the pie contest. She wins best pig. She doesn't win best pig. Her pig wins best pig. And it's a great day for her. And the day keeps getting better. She gets a call from a tractor company that wants to sponsor her pig. Sheesh. Yep. That really is some pig. That is some pig.

[00:12:33] [SPEAKER_01] But then she also gets a call from the financial guy, and he informs her that she's rich again. Yay! So she goes to celebrate with Bart by taking him to a private piano show and tells him that she's now filthy rich and is going to get back on that PJ life. That's private jet. Private jet. For all you poors out there. She asks him if he wants to leave and travel the world with her. He's like, I don't want to travel the world. You've got to get back to Greenville. I want to stay in Greenville.

[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_01] And you know what? He's 100% right. I don't want to see the world. I want to stay right here in the other Greenville. She goes to leave, but she decides that she doesn't want to leave. And it's a good thing she didn't leave, though, because they're throwing a surprise party for her. She kind of stumbles her way into. She does tell Bart that she's sticking around, and they both say that they love each other, and they kiss. And I guess Bart is just like, you can't lose. And that, my friends, was

What did you think of both the heiress and her handyman?

[00:15:53] [SPEAKER_02] Well, I did cream this movie. I forget what my rating was. I did cream it. I mean, it is a Jodie Sweetin movie. Yeah. I do have that sweet tooth after all. So that's better than tea time. Yeah. That's really good.

[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_02] So I, I, all, all in all, not bad.

[00:16:12] [SPEAKER_00] Not bad. He went four PSL and a cream because he's on drugs.

[00:16:17] [SPEAKER_02] Oh, a little strong. I mean, it's, yeah. It's Jodie Sweetin. Like I high expectations. Maybe I shouldn't have creamed it. I did. I can't take that back. We all know once it's out of the tube, we were in Greenville. We baked pies. They, there actually was fall in this movie. Yeah. That's going to be Brian's defense. I guarantee you that right now. Finally. Yeah. It was, it was pretty, it wasn't super natural fall, like very staged.

[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_02] So props to the props department for, that's why they call it the props department, but that we got fall finally. And so it's hard to take that out of this movie because it was really embedded. We were doing a fair, we were in Greenville, all the, we did.

[00:16:59] [SPEAKER_01] This is earlier than last year because we, we went like three movies. Before we got a, fall is always a tricky one. We only had to wait. We only had to deal with one, one so far. So, right. And, but you know, who knows what next week holds? Right. Yeah.

[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_02] We might take a step back. I don't know. This did have fall. So, uh, yeah, I wanted more time in the kitchen. We got a good amount, but I'm like, let's just stay in that kitchen. Let's keep baking these pies. Let's roll out that dough. You get to see her,

[00:17:24] [SPEAKER_01] you get to see her bake two pies in this movie, bro. I don't know how much more time in the kitchen. Just a little bit more time. You just want to watch the Food Network.

[00:17:31] [SPEAKER_02] I was just hanging out in the kitchen. Just like, He's got a sweet tooth brain. Yeah. I got those Jody sweetened tooth. I can't, I can't help it.

[00:17:41] [SPEAKER_02] Now it's not what it needs to be. Before it was. I got that sweet tooth. So yeah, actually not, not bad. Uh, had a pretty good time. Glad, glad we got this, this movie to kick off. Glad we got this movie. Kick off fall. Yeah.

[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_01] Yeah. I'm with Brian on this one. I, uh, listen, you guys are out of your mind. There are, there is, there's so much about this movie that, and I, I think you would agree with this. Isn't good. 100%. Yeah. I agree with you. Yeah. But there is a whole lot about this movie that makes me forget about the fact that it's not good. Greenville, you mentioned it and I don't care if it's not Greenville, South Carolina. It just made me feel happy. A good old fashioned, uh, fall fest with different contests. I love it.

[00:18:23] [SPEAKER_01] And, um, the apple pie, but I gotta be honest, both apple pies looked good. I know the first one wasn't good, but yeah, that looked good. Yeah. And, uh, you know, I did the, the, listen, the fall, the fall of this movie. Absolutely. Dan, you said it and I know you said it sarcastically, but it did save this movie for me. Uh, it does the fall work. This movie is ridiculous. And it's, it's definitely like a, Hey, you remember when shoots Creek was a big deal? Um, it's a family show.

[00:18:53] [SPEAKER_01] I remember when shoots Creek was a big deal. Let's do that. It'll be funny. And, but that's kind of like, that is the part of this movie that worked the least for me. Like this whole, like she lost everything. She loses everything and ends up getting back in 60 minutes. She does that, but she also, she loses everything and then gets to, uh, to birdie's house in, in I think 10 minutes. Oh yeah. So like all of the, like, how do I do this? Which is really fun. Yeah.

[00:19:22] [SPEAKER_01] They didn't spend enough time with that. I think they could have spent a little bit more time on that, but they didn't spend enough time on it. So it just like, I kind of forgot about it by the time she gets all the money back. I'm like, Oh yeah, that was the whole reason she was here. Right. So I don't think you really needed it. They didn't do enough with the fish out of water to make it like she's to make it worth that being the plot point. This could have just been a, uh, Oh my gosh, I just inherited a birdie's house. That could have just been it. But so the air is stuff, whatever. But as far as, uh,

[00:19:52] [SPEAKER_01] lead goes, goes to town and heritage house falls in love with guy in small town. Does small town fall stuff. I didn't hate it. I didn't hate it. I don't, I didn't hate it. I understand. There's a lot about this movie that isn't good, but a lot of air quotes. I'll also just hit it so far. Yeah. But it all, but it also isn't fall. So I think it's all the way.

[00:20:15] [SPEAKER_00] It all comes out as a washer. Cases in history lane. There's an air quotes guy. We're doing them. Save it for them. We're doing it now. Let's get it out of the way now. Both of these guys are full of shoot. That's what I'm saying. Come on. Both of them. Uh, first of all, just on the record, this movie, not nearly as good as his and hers. We watched last week. Correct. You would not say this is a better movie than his different, different movie.

We have a situation that could have been solved by one professional realizing there was Apple stock in play. Um, we have a movie that is fall. Yes. But aside from that. Yeah. Yeah. A lot of applause for fall. That's right. And it's not even fall. So it's great. That's right.

[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_00] I can't believe they pulled it off with the equipment that they had. Um, I feel bad for Jody Sweeten. I don't feel bad for Corey Sevier because I do think he looks for these movies. I feel like Corey Sevier lives in Canada, lives a great life. And he's like, you want me to be in your movie filming up here and I'll be in it. I got my blank hat. I'm ready to go. So like, I don't, I don't, I don't feel like Corey Sevier is here for it. I don't, I'm not mad. I'm not mad at him. I'm happy for him. Do you love? Love what you do. Yeah. This movie.

[00:21:46] [SPEAKER_00] I did not love what I was doing and wanted to do something else real bad. And fall didn't save it. Jody Sweeten didn't save it. Corey Sevier didn't save it. Nothing saved it. Uh, it was not a great movie or a great time. Well, you notoriously don't have a sweet tooth. So that's true. No, I don't have, I actually, I, I like Jody Sweeten. I really do. I just, this is not the movie for anyone. He doesn't have a sweet tooth. Yeah, that's right. That's right.

But you guys got enough of a hit of a fall, because of a fall fair. That's how low we do. Yes.

It's, it is, it's, it's so, it's so prime for a season where it's all about, you just throw, go fall up all over the place. And this movie didn't even have a ton of fall,

Go all in on fall from, from post, I say from post, Christmas in July to Christmas, just make it fall. We don't need summer, summer into love. Just go all in on fall, just like you go all in on Christmas.

And it wasn't, she was like, so grounded and reflective. Like she didn't struggle a lot. And we just kind of skipped past that. And that was sort of like, yeah, we could have spent a little more time with that. Unfortunately, I do have some questions about the crypto crash. A little bit. I just, a little bit. I assume I kind of worked it out in my head that she inherited a fortune.

[00:29:39] [SPEAKER_02] She put it all into like either a platform or a currency and that some problem, you know, those things are problematic. And then it all went away. I, I, but that doesn't,

You would lose the money that you put into the crypto house, but like, but in, in, in shoots Creek, they owed a bunch of money, which is why they had all their assets seized. So how much of her money did she lose? 90% of it. You said that means she had 900 million in cryptocurrency. That by itself is keeping, keeping the currency afloat. Yeah. Like if you had $900 million in doge,

So she's going to announce it. Yeah. But if she's only an expert in pies, why is she voting on all the other things?

It's a cell phone that looks like it. That's how rich you are. Also, little thing here, but on behalf of cosmetologists and barbers

[00:39:32] [SPEAKER_00] around the world, there's a montage in this movie where she briefly tries to become a cosmetologist, someone that cuts hair. My barber told me he had to have close to 2,000 hours of apprenticeship or you have to go to 1,500 hours of a barber school. They do it as a bit where Jodi Sweeten overnight gets a job cutting hair and that's crazy. That's a crazy thing to do even for this movie. but not as crazy as YouTubing

[00:40:02] [SPEAKER_00] how to make a sandwich. She YouTubes how do I make a sandwich? Like, since the Earl of Sandwich invented sandwiches, I don't think anyone has had to look up bread, inside of bread, bread before. I don't think anybody's... Now, she might later on have to look up a specific kind of sandwich, but she's not having to look up. She knows what a sandwich is, right?

And then they make her make this weird choice where she can either live in the small town of Greenville or travel the world. And I'm here to tell you,

[00:45:35] [SPEAKER_02] Lori, one thing about Lori is she hates getting a cold and it is cold in the flu season. I just got over a cold. Give me a cold. You just got over a cold. We just got over one. I got hit real hard. I wish I did what Lori has been doing here. She's a big fan also of acupuncture. Okay. You guys are into the little needles. I'm not, but I know it's a thing. I've never done that either, but Lori has this, I guess it's sort of a business. She's sort of a business. She's getting going here where it's like

[00:47:35] [SPEAKER_00] If I had heard of something like this and had any sort of evidence that it worked, I would try it. I hate a cold. It's the worst. I hate a cold. I am, like, when it comes to medicine, I'm like, let me go to a doctor with actual science. When it comes to colds, I'll try any of your homeopathic, any sort of nootropic adaptogen, put on a thing with a bunch of lavender in it. I don't care. Whatever you think works, I will try it. So if I thought I wasn't going to die, I'd give it a shot.

[00:48:04] [SPEAKER_01] People are dying during the cold season. You know, we've been tricked into pouring water, neti potting it, like looking like complete doofuses. It's like, just do this, it'll come out and it's good. And it works. It does. It gets it right out of there. It's amazing. How about that? Well, thanks for that. And, Laurie, congratulations on your hopefully no one does die, but again, it hasn't quite happened quite yet. Until it happens, you can say no one's died. No one's died. That's exactly right. That's the sign of a good business. No one's died doing this either.
