[00:08:27] We all went out to the theaters to see it Definitely And it went a little something like this The movie kicks off with too many words On the screen So many words No fun Star Wars music though So I didn't read it Cut to a triangle flying close to something that looks like the sun Bermuda Triangle Inside of it could be Inside of it there are funny folks in robes that are standing with their backs against the wall While a voice says it's time

[00:08:57] This gold stuff turns into their suits They get their Apparently they didn't know each other then But it's 5000 BC in Mesopotamia And a crazy sea monster jumps out Tries to eat a kid's dad Suddenly it does do that But the superhero flies in and takes this monster down We then see other heroes taking down other monsters in various ways We get a group of 10 superheroes

[00:09:26] They stand in V formation And wait for people to thank them One of the heroes leans down and hands a kid a knife Here's who we have everybody We have Icarus who's basically Superman We have Cersei who can like mess with matter and stuff Athena who can create a weapon out of pure cosmic energy Kingo who has laser fingies Phantos who creates advanced weapons and tech Makari

[00:09:55] Which you can get stuff cheaper on Makari sometimes Yay Am I right? Am I right? He's basically the Flash Druig who is mind control Gilgamesh who's the Hulk but not green Sprite who can change their appearance to anything other than an adult Because they look like a child And Ajak who's like the spiritual leader of the group Heals things and is a cosmic communicator of sorts Good? That was beautiful Great Thank you I'm not going to talk about most of them The rest of this synopsis Oh no

[00:10:24] Cut to present day And that knife is in a museum as an artifact that has shaped history The Eternals are still alive because they are eternal Thank you That's in the name Cersei and Sprite live together in London Icarus left her without explanation Centuries earlier She's moved on and is now in a relationship with a human named Dane When the trio is attacked by a monster Like in the beginning They are called Deviants

[00:10:54] And when this happens Icarus arrives just in time to save the day The Eternals were under the assumption that there was no more Deviants Which is why the Eternals haven't been in action for the last 500 years We see a flashback of when Cersei and Icarus got together And I mean got together Hashtag not my Marvel They end up getting married back in the present The three Eternals make it to South Dakota

[00:11:22] Expecting them to meet back up with Ajak Only to find that she is dead So it's time to get the band back together To figure out what to do next Cersei who is the new leader Meets with Eresham The Celestial that sent him to Earth in the first place Cersei learns that the Eternals mission Was actually to prepare Earth For the emergence of a new Celestial See for millions of years

[00:11:48] He has been planting Celestial seeds inside of planets That where the energy from large populations Allows this new Celestial to be born The Deviants were sent to destroy apex predators From each planet So that the populations could grow But the Deviants evolved And started eating said intelligent life So he They created the Eternals To fight these Deviants Now that everybody is back From

[00:12:19] Back together The I'm sorry what? Now that everybody is back from bio I don't know They had bio 101 Yeah yeah yeah University They had to get to Oh no Back from the blip Back from the blip Classic bio blip Now that everybody is back from the blip The population of humans on Earth Has reached the necessary size To allow the new Celestial to be born Earth will then be no more Cersei doesn't love this

[00:12:47] And tells everybody else That we gotta stop this plan Everybody except for Icarus Is in on this plan We find out that Ajak wanted to stop the emergence To save humanity So he led her to the Deviants And allowed her to be killed by them Sprite joins Icarus Because apparently Sprite has been secretly in love with Icarus forever And then Kingo chooses to leave Agreeing with Icarus

[00:13:16] But not wanting to hurt his friends It's battle time folks They fight It's happening There's lots of Golds And they stop him They stop it from happening Icarus realizes That he cannot Hurt the love of his life And we are able to stop this sucker From happening And then Icarus flies I would say A little too close to the sun If you ask me Oh I see what you did there And then there's a lot of setup

[00:14:51] This is Yeah We just It does feel like it should be the Eternals Anyway Let's get to the hot tickets We're sure exactly how we felt about this movie We do not hold back I'll start with you Right guy Right guy Yeah Eternals Is it gonna be eternally a movie that you watch Can I ask a question first Go ahead Are we putting this video up on YouTube That's how that works Yeah That is like the Generally Generally Generally what we do Like even the beginning part That's the whole episode really I can like blur you Yeah Yeah

[00:15:21] We'll talk about it later Yeah Listen I I'm just a little nervous I usually watch them all on the big screen in my house Yeah I'm a 75 inch boy I just put them right up there Yeah It's an extra large screen from Amazon If you know what I'm saying Yeah You said go size up So I didn't When this first got announced And I saw a trailer I didn't think it was for me I typically With Marvel Like the street heroes That's like Captain America Spider-Man Black Widow The cosmic stuff

[00:15:50] Although I really like Guardians 1 Usually more misses the mark for me than not You really like Doctor Strange It's not one of my favorites I love Doctor Strange Even Captain Marvel Yeah So with that said Dan and I have talked about this over the last couple weeks We've been talking about the Eternals for weeks A long time You mean Eternals right Oh did I say the Eternals? Yeah Yeah That's on me The more This was the first Marvel movie that was Pretty universally disliked There was a false but generally accepted notion

[00:16:20] Up until this point That every Marvel movie was good Especially after the success of Endgame Every Marvel movie was good None of them had been bad The three of us don't agree with that There's definitely a few that we like Less than others But the wide conception was What a masterful web None of these movies will ever be bad And so what I thought happened In the release In the lead up to the release of this movie Is that Oh we've just This movie isn't great But the hate There's a little bit of fatigue The hate's gone too far I think you'll agree with this

[00:16:49] I thought I was gonna like it more than most Same Same In the theater I thought this movie sucked I thought it was really really bad On rewatch It really sucks It's It was more tolerable this time Because I could watch it in 30 minute increments But it's really bad It's It was better because I didn't have to watch it all at once Yeah no essentially I mean it's overlong And it's incoherent And The

[00:17:18] I'm sure both of you will echo this The casting is It's a who's who Right Angelina Jolie is in this movie In a Essentially a non-speaking role Like it's And granted if You know The movie wouldn't be better If unknowns were in it And this is As I'm sure Dan will talk more about Than I have I mean This is a World class director Yes And what I think this movie does Is show If you've listened to the past episodes

[00:17:48] I really give it up to the Russo brothers And I always clarify to say If you watch their other stuff They're not like You know Auteurs They're really great at making these movies And what this movie proves Is that These movies are hard to make Like that doesn't necessarily mean They're fine art But that Not everyone can make them Now You could argue Was Marvel You know Middling too much Or was it the other way around And we'll never know the answer to that But It's Can you scroll down a little for me I was vamping Yeah

[00:18:17] Right there's good Right there's good You just do it with your nose Yeah Oh actually Oh that's good actually Yeah But yeah Tonally it never feels quite right And it is ironic This plot Could have been really interesting There's these All powerful beings There we go And they've decided to Just completely stay out of it That idea would have been interesting To explore this movie Does not necessarily Even really explore it And when they do explore it I don't think they do it In a way that really makes sense It's also kind of funny

[00:18:46] That two weeks after We were like Hey Captain Marvel She's so powerful And she doesn't do anything Marvel's like How about ten superheroes Who don't do anything So I feel bad for these folks Like they all probably were like We're gonna work for the next 20 years All of these Marvel movies are hits And they happen to be in the first one That everyone was like Pfft But it's really Really Really bad If you didn't watch it And you're listening to me Talk about it right now That's good enough Never watch it I have it dead last In my rankings And I genuinely hope To never watch it again Thank you

[00:19:46] This movie Is only ten minutes shorter Than the greatest story ever told I've heard told That's right Yeah Insane It's so long I did split it up into two Longer than Wicked Port 2 I watched this movie I started it at night I watched an hour and a half And then my My puppy woke me up At 5am And I said Goodest time as any To knock out the last hour Of this movie I did not enjoy it I did not like it I will not watch this again I'm sorry that you guys Did have to I did not watch it

[00:20:45] It seems like you're not Really on our team Seems like Sorry No I'm coming back Yeah At least I could just Put it over a knee Just scooch over Yeah Dan So I too Like Ryan Was determined to love This movie Chloe Zhao Is an Academy Award Like she made Nomadland Which won Best Picture She made The Rider A great independent film She made Hamnet Which also got nominated For Academy Award She's a super talented Gifted director And much like Early Marvel Where they were like Scott Derrickson Horror maker Horror movie maker

[00:21:15] Make Doctor Strange Let him cook They like Let this Incredibly gifted Maybe the most Talented filmmaker Make a Marvel movie That is so incredibly Dense and difficult to make And I'm like Match made in heaven This is it People just Maybe they don't want This out of a Marvel movie But I'm going And I'm going to love it And it's going to be awesome And this movie Sucks It's so Bad It's like Marvel's Watchmen But with no teeth Like The Watchmen

[00:21:45] Is a graphic novel Where these superheroes Some of them Are terrible human beings And some of them Are trying to Like have just decided They're bored And want the world To end This is like Having beings That have been around Since before time But just having them Kind of brood And they're also So Very Miscast People that I love Kumail Nanjiani Brian Tyree Henry Angelina Jolie All very talented Salma Hayek Salma Hayek Like

[00:22:13] All very talented actors All Woefully miscast You could argue All of them This is their worst performance All people that I think Are unbelievably talented Every time you think The movie is Coming to a point Where this is the Climax of the movie And this is why we're here It isn't And then This big battle happens And then we have 25 minutes left And then And I know it's Someone's wait what But this has to be said In the hot take

[00:22:42] A ginormous thing Shows up In the Indian Ocean A ginormous structure At the end of this movie Is visible From outer space In the Indian Ocean And then it is not mentioned In the next five Marvel movies Not mentioned I don't Like It is just crazy And I I just go back and forth On if Chloe Zhao Got full reign And did this Or Marvel Saw the independent film

[00:23:11] She was making And decided to doctor it up Regardless It is a match made In the pit of hell It is a terrible movie That is still going on somewhere I hate it I hate it I hate it Please don't ever do this again Marvel It's really really bad One last thing I forgot Real quick It's also inaccessible For kids Like And it's also It's ironic Because I believed Correct me if I'm wrong It's the first movie I know Sprite's really old But technically Yes It's the first Marvel movie With a kid As a superhero And not that it's like Overly violent

[00:23:41] Or anything But like If I was a kid I would think it was Boring as heck And I don't know What there would be For an 8 year old To latch on to Watching this movie My kids would fall asleep And they just like Love pretty much every movie But also like The bad guys Are the deviants Which are these monsters But they look so incredibly Computer made You could punch right Through them It is like The director of the movie And I believe this I don't know this But I believe it The director of the movie Did not care What the deviants looked like She was making a movie About people And an introspection And about

[00:24:11] Where they are In their journey And she's being empathetic To all these characters And the problem is In a Marvel movie The bad guy has to Really pop off the screen And these monsters Were like What if we just Tacked him on At the end And so these deviants Show up And they are so Like They're unmoving Right Like I didn't care About the deviants At all I never found them scary I never found them Like a real threat And so It just is not It's oil and water Like it never works Together at all Which It just sucks I don't know what to tell you It's oil and water though

[00:26:10] I want to say Like I appreciate Like Icarus comes out And I'm like Oh it was Superman And then they make a joke About him being But how does that work I don't know Like Can we dive on this A little bit Like does Does DC exist Do DC comics Exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe I think in the I think Eternals Universe I think Superman Exists everywhere At least in fiction form I think everyone knows He's just like The go to But I think that is I think it was allowed Clearly Right They would have been sued

[00:26:40] It wasn't Like they said it And I was like Okay yeah At least they acknowledge That this superhero Is It is Superman And what's crazy Is that Icarus Who is real No one knows about Like it's Superman Like everybody Is talking about How cool Superman is That's right It's all the same things No one talks about him Yeah We also have like 50 superheroes At our disposal though Who also do Really cool things Yeah Yeah It's true It's true Dan Yeah Yeah So My feels Is the premise Of the movie I love I love the idea Of ten beings

[00:27:10] Who are all powerful And have existed before time But cannot interfere With human actions Imagine a superhero That can't actually save you Can only make sure The world stays on its axis And the Kind of the juxtaposition Of them wanting to help But not being able to help Is a really great premise For a movie Unfortunately This movie isn't the one I want to see But I actually love The idea of this movie I think it's a really fun idea And I Kudos to whoever wrote the comics Because it's very deep

[00:29:07] A moral dilemma So That's it for me Bran Also Amazon Wait what Wait what So I The movie starts At the beginning Of the Eternals It's just Eternals Eternals And They go on their first little mission They Begin to Stop the Deviants From eating people And then They get in V formation Yeah When did they learn Flying V baby Flying V They saw the Mighty Ducks

[00:29:36] They saw the Mighty Ducks D3 is much better than this one Would you agree D3 better than the movie D3 is a better film than Eternals Yes They went and they Immediately said We did it V formation everybody First order of business We gotta look cool At one point Druig runs Up the back Of a Deviant Shoots it And then for a reason I don't know Does a 360 jump Off of it That guy does Style point Spin move It was awesome Sick

[00:30:05] I know That Sprite Isn't really A child I will say It It is still Weird That Sprite As a I'm watching this I see Sprite Sprite Sprite's performer Is what At oldest 14 Yeah So all of the Sprite Being secretly in love With Icarus stuff Was just really like It was It was Icky Russ Icky Russ Really good

[00:30:33] And I do just want to Point out I found this To be really funny The The legend Of Icarus Flying too close To the sun Apparently Sprite has been Running with this Legend for a while So Icarus has heard This Has heard that People believe That Icarus Flew too close To the sun And then at the End of this movie Decides I'm gonna go Fly too close To the sun Yeah Forever he has heard This Where's Icarus He flew too close To the sun I didn't actually

[00:31:02] But I will I will do this So I guess Complete the Prophecy of Sprite I don't know Icarus has to Finish his story He's gotta finish his story Crazy to me Dano Yeah A big ask For a Marvel audience To start in 5000 BC Mesopotamia I don't like I'm not like Tough one I think And it's not that Marvel audiences Aren't smart We all love Marvel movies But when you go To a Marvel movie And you see 5000 BC

[00:31:33] Mesopotamia On the screen You immediately Think you're in Western Civ class And you're like I don't know If I want to go On this journey With you And that's how They start Also With the aforementioned Odyssey Coming out this weekend There's a lot of Pushback on the fact That they're speaking The king's English In the Odyssey Which Chris Nolan Has said Hey It's a tale That's supposed to be Told to the culture That's watching it And that makes A lot of sense Coincidentally No pushback On all of the Eternals In 5000 BC Mesopotamia

[00:32:32] There is a birth Of a celestial being There are massive Tectonic shifts In the earth's surface Where in the world Are the other Avengers Where are they How have they Not noticed A thousand foot In diameter Thing appearing In the Indian ocean Iron man Didn't want to Check that out Hulk didn't pop in To be like Y'all need any help Nobody The movie would Make more sense If it took place During the blip Yes And then you could Do these things Rather freely

[00:33:02] Well yeah This is post Post blip But there's All of those Characters Iron man's dead Iron man is not dead Ant man could have Gone and checked it out It wasn't dead During the blip You mean it's Post avengers End game Yes Yeah okay So not iron man But any of these Other avengers Like it's on their Planet They live on planet Or maybe captain Marvel This seems like It may be big enough For her It's a gray area You never know For her attention It might be big enough To get the

[00:34:30] I didn't get that Right So That's all Yeah that's funny All right What a marvel Any questions that we have We want answers to Anything like that I'll start with you Right guy I think we'll ever see Harry Styles In the MCU again No Seems unlikely at this point Right Yeah Is Harry Styles in this movie He's in the mid credits He's the mid credit He's Thanos Watch mid or in credits He's Thanos' brother Which I have a lot of questions About Sorry no I did not watch He shows up looking like he Like borderline Star Fox Yeah Like he shows up They make a Star Fox joke Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Like he Yeah

[00:35:00] Patton Oswalt is the Like the character That introduces him I'm sure it's comics accurate That Thanos has a brother That looks nothing like Thanos That Thanos is never mentioned But And I would have loved For those questions To have been answered As to why those things But I would doubt We ever see him again And again As I've been saying every week For the next seven eight weeks Very little that they bring up Especially in those post credit scenes Will ever matter At least not Currently Nothing matters less than these Yeah Like these are just Yeah I would be I would be flabbergasted

[00:35:29] If we ever see Harry Styles again And you technically still Have never seen him In the MCU I've never seen him And I don't intend to I love that we thought Bran may have stuck around For the mid-credits scene That's hilarious That we You know When the Eternals are together And they're doing things Especially at the end There's like gold lines And stuff Uh huh Around them Can Everyone see it Or is it just for us at home Great question What do Really good question What does

[00:35:59] I don't know what the gold does At some point One of them is doing this And we just see math equations Around them In gold What Can we see Can everyone see it Or is it just for the viewers at home For them to Us to have a visualization Of what Them doing something I don't know Maybe I'm getting Maybe I'm thinking too much About this Yeah But I was like What is that I didn't think about it at all But it's You're 100% right No no no Thank you It's a great question What do you got Thank you I think I don't think I feel really confident

[00:36:28] That this could have been A really great TV series I think it would have been A better Disney play show For sure Marvel 10 episode I'm getting the nod From Matt Strahl And that's really The approval That I was looking for Anyway 10 episodes Where you meet The Eternals And you see The predicaments That each one is in Not in what they have to say But who they are And them going through Like their existential Identity crisis And also having A series long arc Of why they need To get the band Back together And why it's important That could have been Like an amazing Prestige drama

[00:36:58] Television show Like Emmy nominated Kind of thing And Chloe Zhao Probably would have Crushed it Instead we got Whatever this was And that's unfortunate And I think we missed out Or Or It just could have been Longer and more boring Not much longer I mean 400 minutes For 1040 minute boys Right That's not Yeah you're right You know We did it everybody The movie was like 160 minutes So I mean like We're close Next week we're heading Back to the Spider-Verse For Spider-Man
