You've talked to me twice about this Can you guys fill the listeners and myself in? What's going on? Brian applied for an AARP card He got it in the mail He's very excited

[00:03:20] Gilmore Girls season two Senior tickets to the movies He's very excited I met him for the early bird It was great That's impressive for him Thank you Gilmore Girls season two Episode 16 There's the rub Is what it's called Took the entire month of March off And they're back in April April 9th, 2002 And was that normal back then? He'd take the entire month of March off? March is not February sweeps So you would do like November is sweeps

[00:03:48] And September is sweeps And February is sweeps And then May is sweeps So those months You would have all new episodes Or mostly new episodes Anything that aren't those months In between August and May You would have a mix back Mix back And some TV shows Are taking an entire month off That's right It went a little something like this We start at Luke's Where there are some serious renovations going on Lorelai and Rory show up For their normal breakfast And Lorelai gets a call from her mom

[00:04:18] She tricks her I'm sorry I'm getting choked up about this But she tricks her into Agreeing to go to a spa weekend together But Lorelai is on the case She plans all of their spa appointments To happen at separate times So she doesn't actually have to spend any time With her mom What a move Naturally, Emily picks her up In a limo You gotta do spa Spa weekend You gotta do it right Paris is looking for someone To study with this weekend Rory's like I got big plans

[00:04:48] Those big plans Is to do nothing With anyone To be by herself When Emily and Lorelai arrive Lorelai is shocked to find out That the schedule has completely changed Turns out Emily explained That she called To make sure that they could do everything together Hey Very nice Rory is making out with Dean Apparently She still likes him He asks if he can come over Since her mom is gone And Rory says No

[00:05:16] I wanna be alone tonight He's very confused by this But what else is new Back at the spa It's impossible to relax With Emily around Talking, talking, talking Paris crashes Rory's night alone Because needs somebody to study with Rory agrees to study with her For one hour And then hit the road Jack Lorelai convinces Emily To leave the spa with her To go get steak Because the spa has nothing

[00:05:45] No coffee No like real food I bet Luke would've loved it Jess comes over With a care package From Luke Heard you were alone all week And he wanted to hook you up With some food They do some flirty banter And then he takes off his jacket To get comfy Because he's sticking around He's shocked to see that Paris is there She invites Paris to stay Which bums him out Lorelai and Emily End up having to sit at the bar At this restaurant

[00:06:14] Very unlike Emily But Emily ends up loving it Free nuts It's wild Back at the house Paris and Jess Are arguing about books When Dean calls He says Hey Rory I'm gonna come over But I'm just gonna stay For a minute I miss ya I wanna say hi She begs him not to come She says Paris is here Don't come He's like I'm just gonna be a sec

[00:06:42] So clearly he's not taking no for an answer So he begs She begs Jess To leave ASAP Before Dean gets there But of course Dean is already there When they're walking out the door And rightfully so He gets real mad at this Jess is like I really was just dropping off food Paris Picks up on this tension This argument Between Dean and Rory And takes the blame She says that

[00:07:12] She has a crush on Jess Invited him over So that leaves to Rory And Dean Kind of making up But he says That he's still Gonna leave And she gives him a kiss She goes to thank Paris And she says You helped me out tonight And so that means a lot She Rory Is like Thank you And then Paris goes to leave But Rory says Why don't you stay Spend the night Like real friends Paris is pumped

[00:07:42] Back at dinner A hot older man Comes over And hits on Emily He asks her to dance And Lorelai encourages her To get out there Shake your groove thing One fast dance Turns to a slow dance And Emily gets Uncomfortable And leaves And takes it out On Lorelai You made me do this When they get back To the spa Emily asks Why they can't have What she and Rory has She says That me and Rory

[00:08:11] Are best friends She then says Well Why don't we steal These robes Like friends And it'll be a thing That we did together Emily A little reluctant To do this But gives in And steals the robes The episode ends At Luke's The next morning Rory goes To thank Luke For the care package Which he knows Nothing about So she starts Talking to Jess So you made this Package This box for me He's like I don't know What you're talking About whatever Dean is watching

[00:08:41] This conversation Happen through the window Lorelai comes out To talk to him And he's like Rory wouldn't lie To me right And Lorelai Looks at him And says Rory wouldn't lie And smiles And now my friends What's Gilmore Girls Season 2 Episode 16 There's the rob We did it Boy We're going to Take a break We need a break After that

[00:12:09] Were connected To themselves You got it Anyway You got it Okay So this is wild The whole thing With Rory I've heard people Say Rory's a monster Rory's terrible Rory's the worst I didn't get it yet Rory flat out lied So many times In this episode And then when questioned She continued to lie She looked at Dean In the face and lied Oh my god She lied to her mom About the story It was bonkers There were so many Things going on I mean I thought the big lead Would be the hot Old guy Dancer with Emily Named Chad

[00:12:39] Which was so much fun Oh yes Dude that honestly Is how I imagine you In old age Just like going to the Going to the club Dancing a little bit Yeah I could see that too I loved it Yeah An old Lothario Just dancing Married women Thanks Brad I think that's You'll re-hear the story On WYFL Gigolo Chad That's probably a CW story Yeah Our lifetime movie In the making That's it So it was a

[00:13:09] It was a fantastic episode The Emily and Lorelai Together Having their interaction Getting closer But then Emily Becoming Emily again And blaming Lorelai for everything Even though she did it But then tries to make amends After the whole thing But man I'm sitting there And I'm watching And Paris is there Jess is there And Dean is walking And getting closer And I'm like Jess get out of the house I'm so into it At that point I'm freaking out Yes Freaking out When he called It was like Hey I'm on the way

[00:13:39] I was like Oh And I've seen this episode Multiple times I'm like Oh no Yeah Show is getting really good Because I was doing The same thing I was like Jesse go Jess Jess not Jesse Jess go Go get out of the house Uncle Jesse Whatever you want to call him Uncle Jesse to me Yeah That's it Yeah Yeah Great They did have Kings Yeah I agree I agree with Chad Really enjoyed this episode Any episode that can make me sweat And get nervous Is a good episode I was I was

[00:14:08] I was freaking out And then when they get to the front door I'm like No No What do you do Go out the back door You moron So many people go out the back door In that house too I know It's readily available He's done it His car is out front though He's Dean would have noticed The car out front Yeah Probably Probably Probably Yeah Probably But still I just I don't like That I was I was very nervous About that And I'll say this I'm so happy That you guys Like are Picking up on

[00:14:38] Like Rory being the worst And guys I'm just I'm just here to tell you Just buckle The heck up Wow Wow Buckle the heck Up I think what drives me crazy Is that She's being the worst And The character it appears Doesn't really know She's being the worst That's right That's right Dan And to that I say Buckle the heck up brother Wow That's worse to me Than someone who's Like Jess actively stealing the bracelet Blah blah blah He is Trying to plan

[00:15:07] On how to get the girl And have someone Notice him for who he is Okay Whatever I roll for me But fine That's your character At least that motivation Makes sense To be as bad as Rory Was in this episode And For her to Be fairly oblivious To that Is Just infuriating Peanuts Not knowing Right from wrong Yeah I mean she didn't know So Dan You're saying It gets so much worse No

[00:15:34] It gets so much worse She's the freaking worst So just buckle up Just buckle up So obviously That works for me And you know The Emily Lorelai storyline I If I was to go to a spa For the weekend With somebody And they were talking to me All the time I'd be so annoyed Like just let me Do my things To totally justified By Lorelai here I will say The one thing that I Appreciated about this

[00:16:04] Emily and Lorelai blow up Is that It was classic Emily But what wasn't Classic Emily Is that after the fact She actually was honest About the root Of the blow up Which is like I want what you And Rory have And I hate that we don't And so I I appreciated Maybe Maybe a skosh of growth Maybe a skosh of growth Maybe a skosh of growth Dan Maybe Maybe Maybe Maybe a skosh of growth

[00:16:35] We'll have to agree To disagree on that Yeah this episode Not as good As the previous episode I'm not as high on As you guys are It has its moments though And those moments are Dean walking to the door Did you get nervous? No I mean I think I knew They wouldn't load that gun Without shooting And pull the trigger You didn't get along I was sweating I hated the Lorelei Emily storyline It like This episode has no Suki No Lane No Jackson

[00:17:05] No Luke No Taylor No Kirk Like you have this Bevy of all stars In your stable And you're just Content with You know All the bad characters Plus Paris Who's amazing Like Paris is amazing In this And this is a great Paris episode It's maybe my Favorite Paris episode She is If not my favorite My favorite character She's definitely Top three And her like

[00:17:34] Someone finally Like being a real Friend to her And her immediately Reciprocating that Just as a natural Instinct Yeah Just shows you How much you need To give people The benefit of the doubt And she And give them Mac and cheese And she Oh my god When her eyes Light up As she says That's actually my Feel So I'll save it I'll wait That's fine We'll get back to it But just the idea Of you give someone Mac and cheese And they're your Friend for life They will do They will lie For you But like Just give them Mac and cheese But she just

[00:18:04] Paris is like Unlike some of These other characters Like you see Paris being a real A-hole in season one But you see how Completely redeemable She is And you see how She is like Broken because Of her family life And because of Other stuff going on And you want it To be right And you want Someone to come Alongside her And that Is happening And so I really Really liked Paris in this episode And I like Dean coming to the door For a number of reasons Because Dean's Actually wrong there And I think That's the first time That I I think that Really

[00:18:33] Dean In my opinion Up until this point He's been a stand up guy Your girlfriend Or really anyone That you have a relationship With tells you That they're going To be alone For an evening You let them be alone Period Like you do You don't decide Like that's an absolute Like it's a dick move At the very least To for someone to say They would like an evening Alone and for you to go Hey I'm bringing ice cream Over right now No No Absolutely not However And I would further that By saying if your best friend Wants to tell you For the third time

[00:19:03] About the craziness That is CBS Going to WIFL 4.3 You let them do it You just You just Shut your mouth And let them do it You've shared mac and cheese You guys are They're interested Wait a minute Wait a minute Wait a minute They think it's wild That CBS And WFNBC Are going to say What a problem If I had talked To you twice About something Happening here locally And brought it up A third time Like I had not

[00:19:32] Spoken to you about it You wouldn't have Given me any crap For that I would say That is nonsense Tell me everything That is nonsense Pull up a chair That's nonsense Brandon I'll be next time Anything local happens Call me I'll give you mac and cheese Whenever you want it Alright thank you You don't even like mac and cheese I don't You're right So here's the thing Like I just The Emily Lorelei stuff Didn't feel like the same Like it didn't feel like The same relationship And I'm not saying that Like growth I'm saying that like If you look at

[00:20:02] All of their moments together Them Like Emily manipulating A spa weekend Just never really That didn't make any sense To me I also felt like That when she did that When she manipulated The spa weekend And then controlled Every aspect of it And then blamed Lorelei for For her dancing With a A man While still married And her thinking That that was the End of the universe Like All of that is Exactly why I'm I think Last Like look

[00:20:32] In my opinion The best episodes Of this show Don't include her So I've yet to be Even challenged on that For an episode of television Where I thought She did though She does say though To Lorelei She says you know I want to have a relationship Like you and Rory have And I don't know That she's Overly said that Overly before Great She did say it That is Like I don't Like you know I don't I say this to my kids All the time And I hope Hopefully I model it for them Even if Even if I don't Probably I'm not consistent With it Like

[00:21:02] An apologies Change behavior It is not It's not like The five steps Of grief Where you acknowledge There's a problem first And you know what You do need to acknowledge There's a problem She's not done that She's not done that yet To say she wants To have a relationship Like Lorelei And Rory does She doesn't want that Lorelei and Rory Are like By the nature Of how they had To fend for themselves Because of a neglectful Parent That only showed Love conditionally

[00:21:31] Those two characters Have a bond That is not Just mother daughter What Emily wants Is a relationship That feels Symbiotic To her But it is really Her having control Over Lorelei That's what she wants She doesn't want What And here's the thing Is what Lorelei And Rory have Isn't healthy I'm not saying That it's healthy It isn't I'm saying That it was necessary And I'm saying That it has caused

[00:22:00] Them to still Have a relationship That does work For both of them That isn't a typical Mother daughter relationship And that's fine Because it works For them But they will Butt heads Regularly through this show Because there is Never credence That has been given That my mom loves me And I respect her As the authority Because your mom Was a teenager And they were just Trying to make it They were just Trying to make it One day at a time And so Yeah Emily doesn't want that Emily has no desire

[00:22:29] For that relationship At all In fact Lorelei's Probably tried to act Like that with Emily From time to time In the way she treats her Like have you ever seen The way Rory talks To Lorelei sometimes Lorelei's talked like That to Emily before It doesn't go well I just don't buy Any of that Like absolutely not That was a waste Of 20 minutes for me Wow Yeah Sorry That's sad But you know Yeah She tried to share True love is sharing How you feel about Local news affiliates With your buddies No matter how many times It is You know That's what it is Have you ever heard

[00:22:59] Of that before NBC and CBS Under the same umbrella No It's my Local affiliates They're the same thing then Yeah but still I know What's going on It's a complete devolution Of society at this point We're breaking down I don't know I don't know How I feel about that I know I know Did they ever do That statue in the park Of you yet Brianne in Greenville You were Oh Because I walked around I didn't see it When I was in town Email Knox Email Knox Let them know All right Let's get to our feels Anything in this episode Any lines perhaps Chad Give you some feels Oh yeah

[00:23:29] First of all We discussed it The yikes Oh my gosh feels When Dean calls And he's coming over That was so fun This show is getting so good I'm really enjoying it I still think Rory is the worst here This is the first time In 36 episodes-ish Of television Of Gilmore Girls Where I've been like Dean's wrong here Yeah Oh 100 This was Dean is 100% wrong here There's a high school guy Who heard that his girlfriend Is going to be alone For the night That's right And she wants to be alone And he's like She can't really mean that

[00:23:59] Right What if I bring ice cream Bro She said no She said Now Was she at home alone No Should she have on the phone Going Hey She shouldn't have lied I'm never I'm never going to defend I'm never going to defend The lying Right In her defense When she talked to him originally She really did want to be alone And then Yeah I know I know And I really love that scene Yeah Like I That's a great Rory characteristic Right Like hey I finally get a night Without my teenage mom around You know what I mean

[00:24:29] Like my mom who still acts Like a teenager I can do all the things I like to do I can do laundry That's right I just Like He He's wrong When he He just decides to come over Then he calls her And she says Please do not come over Bro She said it twice That's one more time And she should have had to say it Like You know what's crazy The whole time While Rory is lying To everybody While While Emily I'm sorry While Rory is lying to everybody Emily and Lorelai Are at the spa And they're talking about Stealing a robe

[00:24:58] And she goes Lorelai goes No mom Rory would never steal a robe She's way too moral For that or something And like There's this counter story Going where she's Not only lying to everybody She's corrupting Paris And having her lie for her And then continuing the lie The next day It was crazy I'm just happy to have A friend to lie about I know I just And I know we have to We'll just Let's get Can we just When you get to The stars Written in the stars Hollow Can you just say Rory Because I do want to talk about Like This whole thing Because At least the way

[00:25:28] That Alexis Spidell Is acting it She certainly Doesn't seem To realize How awful She's being So like Are we We'll just Save Save Save What else Chad Any other feels I have others But I'm good Okay We've got others I loved Emily Saying In one night You've turned me Into an adulterer And a thief Love it Fantastic Fantastic Vicious trollop That was funny

[00:25:57] That was the one That was really funny Back and forth Dana Yeah Paris Hearing that She's going to get All this food Including mac and cheese And then saying Like with a Just giant grin On her face Is there a 24 hour Pharmacy nearby In case I have an Allergic reaction To something That is her going I just want the Opportunity To break out in hives I just want to get It's worth it It's worth it I've waited for this Moment my whole life I've been training Like even Like when the line

[00:26:26] When she just said Like a slumber party Like that line Broke my heart Yeah When she said it Like you want to Just spend the night And she's like Like a slumber party I was like Oh my god Like This is the girl Who said She was crunching The numbers To help her dad Figure out If he could afford The divorce to her mom That's right Yeah And so what I'm Begging her to do Is go be friends With Lane Kill Find a new best friend Find a new best friend Don't put all your eggs In the worry basket All right Let's take a break We'll come back We'll get to the wait

[00:26:56] What and the written The stars hollow here On Gilmore the Merrier I mean I'm just Next thing you know We're gonna WIFM's gonna be airing us It's gonna be It's too much power Right You're right To have the NBC And the CBS Affiliate In Greenville It's too much power There's 80,000 people That live here It's not that much power It's too much power That It is Stan It is

[00:27:25] It starts with 80,000 Someone has to air this Would you rather have no CBS No Okay No But I do think that Every major channel Should have It's own Should have its own Affiliate and not ever Be combined I guarantee you There are plenty Combined I just I think Multiple A year So you're against Journalism I just So you think One news source And that's fine I think That all the Major sources CBS ABC NBC Fox Should be carried In a manner To where everyone

[00:27:55] In the United States Has access to them And whatever that takes Absolutely Whatever that takes We had it But the problem is Clearly WSPA lost it Or couldn't afford it Or for some reason Doesn't anymore So I want every Single person Across the country With an antenna A free antenna And a basic TV That most Most everyone can afford Can get their local We agree on that Dan Yep We agree on that Great All right Let's get to the Wait what I'll start with you Chad Anything in this episode

[00:28:24] Where you go Wait what Yeah The whole discussion Of the local affiliates In Greenville That's a major Wait what For me How are they Getting away with it Right No I do have three First of all The very opening scene The first thing we see The sheetrock From the ceiling Is coming down On people's food Luke comes over Doesn't clean it Doesn't take their plates Goes Guys I'll give you Free coffee And pours them coffee I'm like wait What Taylor's shutting That place down Luke is gonna get sued

[00:28:54] Yeah he can't Right It's a lawsuit Waiting to have you Gotta shut down While they're doing That stuff Yeah I thought That was interesting There's not even A pardon our dust Sign out there At the very least You gotta do The pardon our dust Thing you know Right There's just this No cell phone Still can't sell food There That's the legal loophole If there's construction Going on You just gotta say Pardon our dust That's right There was a No cell phones Sticker in my Bramblefest goodie bag By the way Thank you very much That was a nice touch Yeah Ironically it's now On my cell phone And it throws me off Every time

[00:29:24] So Lorelai Is such an ingrate Emily shows up In a limo To pick her up For a two day spa weekend Lorelai's like annoyed Not thankful Makes comments It was so jerky If your whole life Chad If your whole life The love has been bought Your whole life You grew up with a silver spoon In your mouth And instead of quality time Instead of apologies Instead of I love you You were given things You were given A great place to live A great car to drive Whatever you wanted

[00:29:53] From a monetary standpoint And then your mom Tries to do something for you And it is covered with This grandiosity That no one asked for That is 100% Lorelai Not wanting to be a part of that And there's a reason for it Yeah but limos are cool Yeah So fun So fun On the other side Limos are cool Right Yeah I hear what you're saying Valid Yeah Limos are cool We've been in a limo before Pretty awesome Really good day That was a really good day for us A very on cheese pizza Very on cheese pizza Not a good day for Simon

[00:30:24] The last one Was just to wait What Emily was really concerned About stealing the road Not about the morality of stealing But that they might charge Her credit card If she was caught Like you're a very wealthy woman Plus you want to buy the robe You would not even notice the $50 You wouldn't even notice it Exactly Right So that was my It was a no risk scenario I will say I never thought about that though Before When she said What if they just put that On the hanger To disparage you from Stealing it They're not actually Going to charge you I've always I've like Sometimes I'll get a robe

[00:30:54] And I'm like This is a nice robe I should take it And I'm like Well I don't want to I don't want to pay The whole thing What if they What if it is just A warning My wife and I Were at the W Hollywood In Los Angeles You take the robes And the robes There's a sign On the outside of the closet That was like Our robes are really comfortable We're really proud of them If you'd like to keep it You can And your room will be billed And it tells you Right Okay It's specifically Right beside the robes Is like Please take the robe Here's what it costs They're just dying Did you take it Did you take it No None of those robes

[00:33:21] Liquid cash To buy a building And so I would submit Luke If you have Buy the building money Then you've got Shut down the diner For a couple of weeks money Yeah You don't need that diner To be open In order to make ends meet What are you doing But people need the diner Shut it down Who cares Lorelei and Rory The liability is not worth it Faithful They'd care I would submit That if a spa Doesn't have caffeine And only serves vegan food

[00:33:50] That is plastered Everywhere On the brochure Everywhere That's in 2002 Yeah What spa 25 years ago Doesn't have caffeine And is vegan And it doesn't tell you that Like there are Like That should be The front page news Of that spa Yeah Yeah It would be a vegan spa It would be called There are 1.7 stars On Google right now If that's happening And they're not They're just like Got them It's all tofu and tea Like that's gonna be A problem for them Yeah You know I just looked online

[00:34:20] But the top 10 stories Are all about the local Greenville affiliate That's crazy That's crazy It's crazy It's unbelievable Yeah Wow The real monopoly Everyone's talking Yeah Yeah Hey guys Indian food really takes it on the chin In this episode They did And I just Like This is a thing that I think Would never be aired now Like it's not like One joke Like I'm ordering Indian food Because my mom's out of town And she hates the smell of Indian food All right

[00:34:50] First of all Like That was something That I may have said at 22 And so Rory saying it is fine An adult Like Respect Food All food has a distinct smell to it Then Turns out That Indian food Takes almost two hours To get there So they're running behind And then Then other people That come in Pile on On the Indian food jokes And I just don't know When that stopped I mean It should Why did this happen

[00:35:18] It was a full record scratch moment For me They just took Full aim at They order Chinese food Every night Rory and Lorelei Order Chinese food Every night Has a distinct smell to it Just like any cuisine What are you doing? Like All of a sudden Like Indian food Just absolutely Just getting Jab jab hook Uppercut here You know what Fun fact It had the opposite effect On me for real And I went today And I had Indian food Really It was delicious I did Indian food's amazing

[00:35:48] I had dal I had papadam Like that Indian food Not smelling good Is like something I would have heard Growing up in my small town Where we didn't know I literally didn't try Asian food of any kind Until I was 13 years old Because we didn't have any We didn't have a Chinese restaurant We didn't have any of that Near me Really? So like Just another Boring romantic That's you Like I just But the idea That these These people That eat Chinese food Every night That eat all this Different cuisine Like

[00:36:18] It just felt crazy That we were taking These shots At Indian food Like I just Was like Yeah Rory thought so too What are we doing Why are we doing this It's crazy When Rory goes To the diner The next day And Luke Says to Luke Thanks for the care package And we find out That that never happened Jess was just Looking for a reason To go over there Jess goes up To take her money And I rewound this He says it'll be 12.50 something I don't remember The exact total And then he gives her Her change And he gives her One dollar And change

[00:36:49] Did she give him Fourteen dollars How else Did you rewind Did she show What she handed her down There's only one There's a single Like if you If she gave him Fifteen Right Then you get two There's no world Where she can get That back as change There just isn't A tip Is there a tip included No I think That's just change Straight out of the drawer There's nowhere To leave a tip yet I was very Very very Confused Listen the guy Can read But he can't do math He can't do it I just don't know You know

[00:38:17] Though that Jess Really does read the books Or are you guys Still kind of on He's making No I think I've never thought That Jess didn't Read the books I think that it's Funny to think about Just reading the same book Over and over And to impress a girl But like this show Wants you to believe Jess is this very Very specific weird unicorn That is like Brooding and dark And like all of these things But also incredibly well read And intelligent And also like Just can't do math Yeah you can't do math Here's one dollar Give me $14 I'll give you some money now Here's a great contrast Him versus Dean

[00:40:13] You know how I know It's not a big deal Is the weatherman From WIFO Reported this And literally I saw a bunch of comments On his thing But I've not seen Much anything else About it Oh it's all over My news feed It's all over my feed You probably keep saying it So my other two Are one is Lorelai early in this episode Wears a shirt that just says Yoga kills over and over again Yeah I would I'd just love to know Like was this just like a thing Or is this like Was a shirt that was I just wanted to know More information about the shirt Was it just for fun For a funny gag Like she just

[00:40:43] Doesn't want to do yoga Like I just And then lastly What about Rory Rory So we did have in the chat Someone was like Hey she's a teenage girl Like there's a lot going on Like So like yeah She might be lying But like she She just trying to figure it out And I Like I'm more than happy To grant Dean is a pretty Imposing figure And She's starting to have Some feelings for Jess And doesn't Dean is a little Safer And she doesn't know How to really articulate that

[00:41:12] And doesn't want to ruin A good thing For maybe a better thing And maybe a worse thing I'm tracking all of that But There comes a point When you're in this web Where you have to At least Ignite Like She's so smart She's so smart She has to know That she's lying Like Like Are we ever going to get If it's not in the moment If she honestly believes She's doing what's right In the moment I don't know how She'd be that way But let's just say

[00:41:41] I'll grant her that That Look She's a teenage girl A lot of emotions Dean is her boyfriend Jess is this thing That she's very interested in And she But she's like Dean's safe It's consistent It's mobile Like I get The mess that she's in She honestly believes She's doing right at the time Are we ever going to get What we normally get out of Rory Which is a fairly introspective Rory Who thinks through things Who processes things Who reminds her mom Of some basic Like what it means To be alive

[00:42:11] And live Kind of things Are we ever going to get a moment Where Rory's like I gotta stop all this lying Or Maybe lying isn't the best Or Maybe I have to keep lying Because I'm not sure yet I need to buy my time I would just love for them To explain it Like If you want me to not think She's the worst Then give me More character development Of her angst As a teenage girl Of not being sure Whether or not Jess is worth the risk Or not Please do that And is she just justifying it

[00:42:41] Saying well I'm saving Dean From her Because And that could be how she does it If we're going to just Keep doing this This girl is too smart And has done Like Has done too much So far For us to believe She doesn't know What she's doing And But And to that point Like typically these Like These moments happen Via A conversation With her mom And her mom Has given her Multiple chances Like what Is to deal with This guy Including in this episode Why is it so important For you

[00:43:10] To you For me to like him And she can't even Be honest with her mom About why that I'm fine if she's Processing that And doesn't know And I also see The tension between The guy from town Who is Like She's in a relationship With And he's consistent And you know He's going to be there And you know It's a good thing But it does It's not Clearly not a perfect match Whereas Jess Could be the best thing Or could end in disaster I get that Like I've done That leg work Easily And I think the show Has done a good job

[00:43:40] Of showcasing that But she's still lying Like Relentlessly And It continues it The next day She slept on it And continues lying To her mom So I just want to Like I would love to know If Rory believes She's being terrible Or not Right Does she Are we supposed to believe That she believes She's doing the best She can With what she's Got to work with Were you guys surprised She lied to her mom And told her The Paris version Of it No I think

[00:44:08] I think Jess is scary In a very attractive way And she knows that Her mom doesn't like Jess And I think Jess Is like If she says it out loud To her mom Her mom's going to Pitch a fit But if she says it out loud Then it becomes real For her too And she doesn't want it To be real Because it's scary But she also does Want it to be real I get all that That's easy I think the problem is Is Rory's starting To become the worst And I don't want Brand to be right Brother I'm just kidding There is no doubt That I'm right Wow
