Cinnalicious definition. Starbucks and Dunkin'. And the Dunkin'. Versus the two Titans going head to head. It's gonna be fun. Wow. That's exactly right.

[00:01:53] We've got people telling us specific drinks we gotta get from Starbucks. So I'm fascinated. Now, Bran, how did you, the last time we did the drink tasting, you pounded a full Red Bull drink. How'd you feel like later on that day? You know what? I'll say this. I don't typically feel like caffeine affects me all that much. Yeah. But I did feel, I don't even know if jittery is the right word, but like I felt a little high. Really? High. Wow. Okay. Like inebriated, but in like a marijuana sense. Just, I was hazy. You were hazy. I was hazy.

[00:02:21] It's like, have you ever had like a lot of spicy food and then you get like spicy high? Yeah. It was kind of like that. I don't know what you're talking, you've got a, you said yeah. I've had it, yeah. I've had it. You've had a spicy high before? Sure. It's a thing. It's a thing. People talk about it all the time on Hot Ones, Dan. I love spicy food. You've never had a spicy high? I don't even know what that would be. I don't even know what it's supposed to feel like. Oh, you put LSD on a pepper. Right. Oh, that's what it is. I've been doing it all wrong. I just feel like a little, I just kind of felt like I was like this. You wrote a great song that evening. I wrote a great song. One of my best. Yeah.

[00:02:51] All right. Gilmore Girls season two, episode 19. Go ahead. I'm sorry. I know that you think we have places to be, but you know, you're not an official podcast until someone's mad about your existence. Mad about us? We found them. We found them. We want you to leave ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts. We do. We got 135 star reviews, one four star review that did not leave a review, just a rating. And I get that. So it's basically perfect. We're still ranked five of five. They probably just got to go four stars. They might have hit the wrong thing.

[00:03:18] Somebody I would guess saw a reel, probably complaining about this would be my guess is how this happened. But Plain Penguin is not a fan. Plain Penguin. Of us? How's that possible? Plain Penguin gave us one star. Oh. And this Penguin is plain, but they are out for blood. And they, what they said was the title of their review is podcasters, not Gilmore Girls fans. Okay. Not true. Already? I want to be very clear.

[00:03:48] A lot of things are objective. The sky being blue, you know, for instance. We all are all, all three of us, we're all Gilmore Girls fans. We are. Unequivocally. We didn't know until we started watching the show and we became fans. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like if you pull for a sports team and then you like different players on that sports team, we'll be like that. Right. But Plain Penguin doesn't see it that way. And that's fair. If you're as plain as this penguin, you can see it, you can waddle on over and see it however you like to. You know what I mean? The review says these guys are people who love the sound of their own voices so much. Not an accurate Plain Penguin.

[00:04:18] I mean, we do. I mean, look, dulcet tones from Chad Cousin here. Beautiful. I mean, there's no way around it. Yeah. I love the sound of Chad's voice. Oh, thank you. I think we all do. I'm like your white noise machine. Yes. It's just Chad going, ha. Yeah. Take that, Plain Penguin. Brain starts every day by being like, dude, my voice rules. Yeah. It is. Yeah. It's great. So they found a way. They liked the sound of their own voices so much, they found a way to make a living

[00:04:45] talking by podcasting about things that already have a dedicated audience. Or pretending to be a doctor. Yeah. Whatever works. Whatever works. But also, like Plain Penguin, it's open to you too. Like, go find and go get it. Go get after it. But does Plain Penguin think we should talk about things no one cares about? That's right. Yeah. Because we do that too. We got it here back to Bayside. Yo, gavel, gavel. These are classics. They are scratchy and annoying. Scratchy? I did feel like that was pointed towards me.

[00:05:14] Why are you scratchy? Because I'm a little on the shrill side. No, just Tracy. It's the beard. They're scratchy and annoying. Okay. If you love listening to morning zoo type radio, you'll probably love this. So we did it. You did it. Congratulations. I was like, yeah. I'll be honest with you, Plain Penguin. We have no idea how much that means to me. Thank you. You landed the plane and it was five stars in our hearts. Exactly. You know what's funny? The most successful radio is morning zoo. I mean, thank you, Plain Penguin. You know, maybe the Plain Penguin's at the morning zoo.

[00:05:44] Yeah. He's losing his listeners to us. Wow. Well, thank you for the rating. We'll take it. Everybody else, let's counter Plain Penguin and get some good ratings. That's exactly right. That's exactly right. Or copy and paste that review and leave it with five stars. That'd be awesome. Yeah. What I'm really enjoying right now is the people. Party Penguin. People really hate Dean. Yeah. People really hate Dean. They do. And they are anxious for you guys to get to the point where you also hate Dean.

[00:06:13] Can I tell you why I think people hate Dean? I don't know how many episodes he's got left. Hopefully not many because how many times can you nail a guy to a cross? But I think people can justify some of Jess's actions if Dean sucks. Right. And so just like Jess, cause you like Jess. It's fine. I think Jess is a great character. You don't have to demonize Dean to justify. Demonize. You demonize him to justify your love of Jess. You don't have to do that. Right.

[00:06:43] You can just say, I prefer Jess. It's fine. Well, I think what happened was there was an Instagram reel where I think me or one of you guys was saying, Oh, Dean's a good guy and he's finishing last cause Rory's losing. Yeah. Nice guys finish last. I believe is what you said. A couple people commented and go, Oh, Dean's not a nice guy. Why do they think he's a nice guy? Well, Dan and I up to this point only know him as a nice guy. Something else happens. We don't know. He said one misstep and it was Rory told you not to come over and you came over anyway. And that is a big misstep.

[00:07:11] And I will grant that aside from that, this guy's just getting destroyed. But if he gets horrible in season three, we don't know. If he gets horrible, I'll be the first one to tell you he's horrible. Absolutely. You know what I have to say? I love the sound of our own voice. I do too. This has been really good so far. I got one like little earbud in here. Not scratchy. No, it's pure man. I also got some Instagram messages that I'm holding on for the mailbag, but a couple

[00:07:37] of people that are coming to the defense of Jess in regard to the bracelets. It's so ridiculous that we're still having this discussion. And I want to be clear. We'll get to a mailbag. This, I have to do this now though, because it's been bothering me since you sent me a specific test, a text. This is not a hooded sweatshirt. This is not one. Stop messaging us and telling us girls take hoodies all the time and then they never get them back.

[00:08:07] Yeah, man. That happened when I was in high school. And, and you know what? I gave that girl the hooded sweatshirt. Right. Do you, are you cold? Would you like this sweatshirt? That is not what happened here. You didn't steal it and hide it. No one looked around, waited until I wasn't looking, saw that I left a hooded sweatshirt and said, mine now. And then I'll never tell them, oh, it was personal to them. I'm going to hide it back under their bed by sneaking into the house. This is not a hooded sweatshirt. No. Don't give me that illustration again.

[00:08:36] It's stupid. Don't do it. That's something plain penguin would do. Play. That's right. Dan, I actually have five of your hooded sweatshirts that I've taken without your permission. I knew you were obsessed with me. It's the sound of my voice. I speak into your closets. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Gilmore Girls season two. Laura in the chat says, what's going to, Laura says, plain penguin is saying all the reasons I gave you five stars. So. Nice. Now let's get started. Gilmore Girls season two, episode 19 is what we're talking about today. Teach me tonight is the name of the episode originally premiered on April 30th, 2002.

[00:09:07] And it went a little something like this. Lorelai and Rory are at doses commenting on the new bagger. They go to check out and Taylor invites them to. Vance. That's exactly right. To the movie at the park. Lorelai wants to know what the movie is that Taylor is picking. He refuses to answer it. It finally comes out that it's the same movie that he's going to be playing every year for the past four years. It's the yearling. Taylor's fed up with Lorelai complaining about this. And so he hands her.

[00:09:36] He says, it's up to you now. I'm handing it off to you. You pick the movie. And she's like, this is the best thing that could have ever happened to me. Up ahead of them. They begin to talk through movie options and they can't decide. Meanwhile, Lane is in class. Remember Lane? Lane is in class taking a test when Jess sneaks in late while the teacher isn't looking. He asks Dean for, I'm sorry, he asked Lane for a pen and not to take the test, but to make

[00:10:05] notes in the margins of the book that he is reading. Luke ends up getting a call to come to the principal's office at the school. Turns out Jess is a problem. He's doing absolutely no work. He's not nice to his teachers. Baseballs are going missing. The principal says that he has to hire Dean. I'm sorry, Jess, a tutor to make sure that he can get his grades back up. He needs some serious help.

[00:10:31] Later at Luke, Taylor comes in with a binder full of movie titles. Movie titles. That they can pick from. So apparently these come from a company that gives Taylor a really good deal. The movies are all really obscure. Luke goes to talk to Jess and he makes it clear that he doesn't care about school. So Luke goes to talk to Lorelai and brings her brownies. He asks if he goes to talk to Rory and says, hey, would you be willing to tutor Jess?

[00:11:01] Yes, she agrees. Lorelai isn't so sure about this idea. Kirk shows up to the diner and pitches that Lorelai shows his short film that he has made. She is pumped to watch it. And so am I. Rory goes to help Jess and asks Lorelai to not tell Dean if he calls. That's fine, though. That's just what people do from time to time.

[00:11:26] Lorelai is not thrilled with this, but she insists that they're just going to study. He, Jess, wants to do everything but study. He says, let's go get ice cream and then I'll study. So they take Rory's car and on the way back, they talk about their dreams for life. He wants to work but only when he needs money and then just do his own thing. Kind of like Chap. And she wants to go to Harvard.

[00:11:56] Chap has two peas in a pod. She wants to go to Harvard and then be a journalist on the front lines. He says, we could go back to Luke and start studying or I could turn right and we could keep driving around. She says, turn right. Next thing you know, Rory calls Lorelai with bad news. She's been in a car accident. That's right, folks. Jess crashed Rory's car.

[00:12:23] The car that Dean builds. So she's at the hospital because she fractured her wrist. Lorelai goes to pick her up, but she's going to be there for another hour or so for x-rays. And so Lorelai goes to try to find Jess and yell at him, but she can't find him. So she ends up just yelling at Luke, you know, guilty by association here. It turns into a screaming match. It's a whole thing. She's crying.

[00:12:51] And so naturally she calls Christopher. Luke finds Jess sitting on the bridge and sits next to him. Lorelai comes home and sleeps in Rory's room. And when she wakes up, she finds Chris sitting next to her. He says that he's going to stay through to tomorrow to make sure that Rory is OK. She asks if Sherry knows that he is there and she and he just says Rory comes first. So me thinks she might not know the next day. What was that?

[00:13:20] That's something I'm working on. The next day they all go to the movie. We see Kirk short and it's perfect. And then the yearling is getting ready to play. They overhear Patty and Babette talking. Apparently Luke took Jess to the bus station and sent him home. And now my friends was Gilmore Girls season two episode 19. Teach me tonight. Teach me home tonight. All right, let's take a break.

[00:13:50] Car crash. I love the sound of your voice. I love it. We're going to take a break. We're going to come back. We're going to break this episode down here on Gilmore the Mayor. Meet us at the gazebo in Stars Hollow playing Penguin 3 o'clock. Welcome back everybody. Hey, Gilmore Girls season two episode 19 is what we're talking about today. Let's break it down. We're going to start with a hot take so we share exactly how we felt about this episode.

[00:14:19] We don't hold back. That's a big part of it. And I'm going to start with Chad. Chad, what did you think of this episode? By the way, for those just listening, I'm back in person. You're back in person. People might be able to tell via the audio. That's right. I'm not into tin can right now. That's right. So here, read my first thought on this episode. I can't wait. Whoa, this is a hog episode. It's a hog episode. It's a hog episode. I said that. That's in my notes too. It's unbelievable.

[00:14:49] I think I meant a huge episode. So there's a lot going on here with the Kirk movie. A lot of fun. Lorelai picking the movie. All that was fun, but it kind of non-consequential stuff. Non-essential, just fun. The huge part is here. We see Rory and Jess stop being a theoretical couple and become an actual couple of sorts because they're now doing things together. They're studying. They're hanging. They're driving around. They're deciding to continue driving around.

[00:15:16] And Rory is the one who tells them, keep driving Jess. Great chemistry between them. So for me, this is very consequential for where we're going to go for the last few episodes of the season, because we've been building to this the whole time. Of course, on this one is a huge blow up between Lorelai and Luke, which is awesome to see because Lorelai just went out. Luke said, my perfect daughter couldn't do anything. Your nephew stinks. And Luke comes back at her. Yeah. Which we've been saying this whole time, Luke. Yeah. Go to hell right back at you. A great exchange. That was good.

[00:15:45] A great, like I know that seems very basic, but for those two, a great exchange. And we are printing those shirts now. Yeah. Actually, Gilmore the Marrier, go to hell right back at you. Right back at you. That's right. So they'll be available for the holiday season. Of course. I thought that was really important. And then Christopher coming back. Dear plain penguin. Exactly. We have one coming for free for you. And Christopher comes back and maybe this is in my weight watch, but he shows back up and then they're talking. She goes to share your mind. And he goes, well, you know what? Rory always comes first from a guy who never puts Rory first.

[00:16:14] I was about to say, what a move by Christopher. So really a consequential episode, some funny inconsequential lines, but I liked it overall a lot just because we really saw Rory and Jess out kind of in public doing things together. Very cool. Absolutely. I need to get back to my thing because I realized that that's not correct. I love this episode. I am so excited for the rest of the season. This is so good for a few reasons.

[00:16:42] Obviously, the will they won't, they definitely will type of thing going on right now between Rory and Jess is just so crazy to watch, exciting to watch. You feel like you're in high school again and you're like, what's going to happen with those two people? But then also, we got to talk about the movie storyline because it is so dumb and so pointless,

[00:17:07] but it's why I show up each and every week to Stars Hollow because while you do have these long running storylines, you also have these weekly beats with the weirdness of Stars Hollow and this storyline of the movie, not being excited that you get to pick your own movie. Turns out you only can pick from this binder. We're just going to land on the yearling and then actually getting to see Kirk's short film. I was hoping they would show that. Everything. And so a pretty darn perfect episode of-

[00:17:36] Brand, were you hoping like you could find somewhere online the uncut full Kirk movie? I need all of it. I need all of it. It might be available. You know, I bet it is. I bet they put it on like a DVD extra or something. Really? A longer version. Yeah, absolutely. Dano? This is peak television right here. Nice. Peak television. Not just Pete Gilmore. It is why you should watch television if you're looking for a little bit of everything from drama to romance to comedy and wouldn't you know it, not a lot of Richard and Emily.

[00:18:06] I hate to sound like I'm beating a dead horse here, but if I only see them twice a season, it's a better TV show. Um, this is great TV across the board because Gilmore Girls continues to thrive in giving you characters that all have a fatal flaw and they are extending those immensely right now. Yeah. And you know, uh, I hated that Rory let Jess drive her car that Dean built for her. She can do what she wants.

[00:18:36] It's her car. Right. But then he drives it and then he's careless. Mm-hmm. And as someone that was careless as a teen driving her car and got in a big wreck, I was pissed at Jess. Ooh. Yeah. Like 100% you get in the driver's seat of this girl's car and you're, you got an ice cream cone? Like, no, absolutely not. I get why Lorelai's angry. Now she should have been angry that her first, your daughter's okay.

[00:19:01] Then be angry that you weren't in the driver's seat because you're the more responsible kid and it's your car. Right. And then get mad that this dummy wrecked the car and endangered your daughter. All of that is fine. The Luke Lorelai, gosh, that's the best chemistry they've had. Mm-hmm. Fighting. Their chemistry was off the charts great. But the piece de resistance. Oh, he speaks French. I know. Beautiful. Jean-Mapel, Kirk's short film. Yeah. Are you kidding me right now? Mm-hmm.

[00:19:30] I mean, I just put it right in my veins. The, him talking about making the movie, us getting to see the movie, all pure gold, all of it. Taylor's great in this episode. The film at the park is great. Kirk is great. And then all of the dramatic stuff really hits. Jess pissed me off, but I still, I think he has one of my favorite scenes of the episode as well early on in this episode. Lorelai is over the top, but not wrong.

[00:19:59] Luke, over the top, but not wrong. Rory, not over the top and somewhat wrong. Yeah. But all of these characters, like I'm determined to defend Rory as a teenage kid who's an overachiever and probably neurodivergent and no one's going to treat it as such because she's just so responsible, so talented, so they give her more than she can bear. I'm determined to the last call to defend her. And I think it's going to go poorly for me, but I'm determined. Okay.

[00:20:27] Having said that, she's, she's still some wrong in this episode. All of them are wrong. All of them have righteous anger and all of them should know better, but that's what makes it good television. And then it's also funny. Might be my favorite episode aside from the one where everybody's in the hotel. Oh, all right. Excellent episode. By the way, Megan in the chat, check it out, Bramble Jam Plus, everybody. [00:20:57] That's one of my weight was. I have some questions there, so I'll save it. Okay. Let's get to all the feels, lines and whatnot that gave us feels in this episode. Chad? Yes. So I'm trying to read my notes here. It was a hog episode. We do know that. That's important to remember. Well, my first one was, I already mentioned it because I couldn't wait. Rory, Christopher says Rory comes first. That was so unsub aware. That was bonkers. Since when? Since when? Since all of a sudden.

[00:21:24] I think this show thinks they're doing a good job portraying him as a good father. You think so? Right. It was a different time, but still that's crazy. Yeah, it was. But I think they think that they're doing it. Yeah. I think that they believe they've laid enough groundwork for you to believe Christopher's a good father. I do. I don't believe he's a good father, but I think that they think they've done it. Okay. Retroactively. Yes. Yeah. The feels of watching Jess drive a car that Dean made for Rory was such deep betrayal

[00:21:53] feels on so many levels, symbolically, in reality, that was rough. Yeah. That felt way. I, he spent months. We know months and months on that. And to have another dude driving that behind his back. Yeah. I mean, I, it's, I see you're them playing penguin. I get that. Wow. That's icy. That's icy. Whoa. I get that. I just, for me, it was more just like, you let this guy drive a car and he just, his, he put your safety third at best. He's reckless with everything. Why do I agree with that?

[00:22:22] Like, like this guy who has the immense brain, but wants to sit around and drop out so he can go do his own thing. He cares about you, but he doesn't care the most about you. Right. Yeah. And you put him behind the driver's seat and then he's doing an ice cream cone bit where he's like, take the wheel. He asked you to put your hand on the steering wheel while he's driving. Rory, take the wheel. I just, no. Honestly, crashing's maybe better than the alternative of Dean opening the car door and being like, that better be dried ice cream. Oh, wow. Wow.

[00:22:52] Yeah, you're right. Yeah, you're right. You're right. Cause it could be. You want a high five for that, Jerry. It could be a root beer float, whatever. Yeah. Wow. A donut. Anything else? Did you guys think that that's, um, it actually was a animal they swerved or they made that whole story up? Who knows? I don't know, man. They don't show a better driver. Yeah. Be more like, be more thoughtful. This is why, this is why teenagers shouldn't drive. Wait until you're 25. Right. You can do it all at once. You can drive and you can rent a car all on one big birthday.

[00:23:21] Lisa says it's her car she can let, it's her car she can let anyone drive it. I agree with that actually. Like I do, I agree with that 100%. Unless it's against your parents' rules. I just was like, if Dean saw that, it's like a double retrial. No, no, you heard for Dean. I don't think Rory, the act of letting someone else drive her car in and of itself to me is what it is. But if you see how careless this dude is being, Lorelai also has a right to get angry about this. I don't, I don't like anybody saying that Lorelai doesn't have a right to get angry at Jess.

[00:23:48] I don't know if you just have ever been a parent or I got like, are you kidding me? I don't think though that she's necessarily mad. I mean, I think she's a little bit mad at what happened and why, like why was Jess behind the wheel. It's just, it is all of it. Yes. This is a literal car crash of what I could see being a car crash. It's coming. You two together is a car crash. Yeah. As a, as a parent, you're like, oh, I see it. I don't want this.

[00:24:17] Jess, I want you to kind of make your own mistakes, do all that, but I can see it coming. Right. And then a literal car crash happens. Yes. And I can see how you might be like, ah, you're mad at Jess. Yes. But I think she's also mad just that it's happened. Like I thought that my daughter would make better choices. Yeah. But in the moment, you can't really yell at your daughter. She's sitting there with a, with a sprained wrist.

[00:24:46] I think that you're 100% right. And I also think, I mean, we got people in the chat who are like this. She went, she went too hard. I don't like, I just, he's, he's done a bunch of stuff already. Right. So this is the proverbial straw, but it's a massive straw. Right. And also endangered her daughter, her only daughter. And Lorelai made all these bad decisions. She doesn't want Rory to make. Yeah. Yeah. There's a lot there, but I don't think I just, like I just, Emily would have just gotten mad at Lorelai. Right.

[00:25:16] And back to your, that's the best way to describe it. Yeah. Back to your ice cream comment. Holly in the chat wrote, Brandon, exclamation point, exclamation point. I know I've gone too far. Holly's on board. Yeah, there you go. That's when you know. My feels is the line though, where he's like, I could, we could just go back and study or I could take a right. Yeah. And then she's, when she says take a right, I'm like, Oh, it's another one of those feelings. It like, it reminds me of the Dean saying he's coming over and Jess is still in the house.

[00:25:46] You're like, Oh, get out of there. You just want to be like, no, park the car, go study. Do the thing that you said you would do. You told your mom, Oh, we're going to do a study. And then you proceed to go and get ice cream. Just don't, don't. And you just, you're like reaching out to the car just to be like, don't do it. But teenagers, they suck. They do suck. They do suck. Exactly right. Well, that was why she had a conscious decision thought out, make the turn. Let's keep going. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:26:16] It's a, it's one of those things where I think we're clear headed adults, but as a teenager, I think like she should have told Dean about this so long ago, it's crazy, but it's easy for me to get mad about that. Now I'm trying my best to, to, to give her the benefit of the doubt, but it's tough. Yeah. She should just driven. Whitney says. I agree. Uh, was, uh, Kirk in the diner with Lorelai and Rory and he's trying to sell his short film. So funny.

[00:26:43] And he says in my soul, I'm Akira Kurosawa and Lorelai immediately is like, nice seven samurai, which seven samurai is the most accessible Kurosawa film by a mile. I mean, they made magnificent seven. They made, you know, there's countless remakes of magnificent or of seven samurai. And Kirk goes, I'm sorry, what? And he's, he doesn't know who Kurosawa is. He said the wrong name. Fantastic. Yeah. Just a perfect scene of television. I loved every second.

[00:27:12] And he also says, he goes, I can edit out two of the hells, but I have to keep all the dams. Yeah. Come on. All right. Let's take a break. We'll come back. We'll get to the wait. [00:27:37] What's the things that made us yell at our screens and go, whoa, wait, what? Good chat. The first one was Rory doesn't want Dean to find out that she's tutoring Jess so much the point that she asked her mom to lie and say, say I'm with Lane, say I'm doing this, ask her a million times to lie. So where does she choose to do the tutoring? Middle of town, closed diner at Luke's with the lights on in front of the window. Nothing like I just kudos to Lorelai for not lying.

[00:28:06] Like being like, I'm not doing this. So you got to do your own thing. I will say the only thing there is that I believe Dean is out of town already. Oh, right, right, right. So, but anyone can see. Small town. Small town's going to talk. Dean has called the house 14 times before. If he calls and Lorelai says she's studying, Dean's going to know something's up if he can't speak to her at that point. Right. Right. Or she, and he doesn't get a call back for a while. Yeah. Very interesting. So that was definitely a wait what.

[00:28:36] There's also a funny technology wait what. Christopher calls Rory and tells her, hey, I sent you an email. I guess because back then you'd have to let some of you weren't always checking your email. I just thought that was funny. Like. Gotta get on the dial up. Back in 2002, we had, that was, dial up was not a thing that was like. Right. But you weren't checking your email all the time. Okay. No. Because sometimes I call you guys and go, hey, I just texted you. Yeah. You would have to get, that's how you do it. No, you would still have to get on a computer for sure. Okay. Fair. Yeah.

[00:29:04] I would have to get on a computer. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I'm really, I mean, I think I'm in big, like I, I'm not true. Right. And I don't think Jess has ever really had to face any accountability before. And I think that's a storyline we may see with Jess. That's a guess on my part.

[00:29:32] But him having to face accountability for his own actions is not something that Jess has any practice doing. And so that made sense for the character for me. But I do think it's a way to leave this poor girl alone in the hospital. Maybe I'm just too chivalrous. It's possible that Rory told him to go, too. Get out of here. I'm good. My mom's coming. I'm good. Right. Okay. Maybe. Or maybe she'll want other people to see it. And in his mind, he's like, I don't want her to yell at me again. Remember when she did that? I was like, I don't want to be on the other side of that again.

[00:30:02] That's true. Luke took that bullet. Get out of here. Yeah. Well, just two other quick ones that I cannot pass up on. At one point, Luke confronts Jess about his school performance. Jess gets up, walks over, and grabs a warm Red Bull and cracks it off the top of the fridge. Crazy. That just sounded gross to me. Dude, you are a monster if you're drinking warm Red Bull. I mean, you don't want to mess with that guy. No. No. And the last one was Lorelai goes to sleep in Rory's room. She's home. I understand she wants to watch her daughter. She's wearing the same clothing. I just can't. In the hospital.

[00:30:32] I was like, that was just so dirty for me. I couldn't, I can't imagine knowing my kid has a broken wrist, stress fracture, hairline fracture. Yeah. And me deciding, well, that means I need to sleep upright. But at least you change your clothing. I just, like, if I felt like I needed to be in the room, I would lay out an air mat. I would not. And I would change my clothes 100%. You're not in, yeah, you were in, I don't know. For me, that kind of grossed me out. That was a way you watch. I'm trying to think.

[00:30:59] I don't feel like I would feel the need. No. To change? No. To sleep in the room. To sleep in the room. Unless the doctor was like, hey, make sure, good. But it's like, worst case, like, it's not like her leg is broken. You can't go up the stairs. I'm fine with them. She's also 16. Like, however old she is. Like, she's okay. I do think it's crazy. She's ambulatory. I also do think that they're doing a thing where they're like, this is the anti-Emily in every possible way. Yes. Like, I am here. You don't lift a finger. For sure.

[00:31:29] That is like a big part of that. And so I don't mind that. Because I think hopefully they'll pay that off later with Lorelai continuing to be a better parent and breaking that cycle. So, but it is crazy. She's 16 years old. But also, like, if you want to have her, if you want to be in the same room, you guys have shared a bed upstairs. That's right. Before. Go up there. Your bed's big enough, Lorelai. You're right. Have her sleep in your bed with you.

[00:31:56] When you were crying over whatever happened, I think it was when her and Max broke up and she finally decided it was time. Rory came upstairs and laid next to her mom. That's big enough. It's a big enough bed. I would also submit that if you're cool with your kid driving by herself at nighttime, you're probably cool with her sleeping in her bedroom by herself with a cast over maybe eight inches of release. With you home. Like, I, you know. Right. I don't know, man.

[00:32:24] But I appreciated that they went overboard to show the difference. Puts Christopher in a tough spot. Christopher walks in and be like, well, I guess I also have to sit here. I can't go. I can't go. Now it's a double upright. That's right. Double upright. Now we're just a real Mumford and stuff. I see what you did. I forgot about Jess doing magic. They do it so scarcely that when Jess decides it's magic time, I always go, oh, yeah.

[00:32:54] That's a thing that he does. Of all the cool, brooding. Cool guy, leather jacket. High school guy thing to do. Reader. Like, I know literature. Abracadabra. If there's something. If he had the latest Toy Story. If he was doing. The new one. The new one. If he was doing magic every day, every episode, I wouldn't. First edition of the Odyssey. It wouldn't be a wait what for me. Because I don't think we've seen him do magic since he pulled the thing behind her ear when

[00:33:23] they first met. It did take me back to like, whoa. Oh, yes. The kid can do magic as well. Yeah. And then I know it is. I'm a confusing human being. I understand it. But I have no issues eating in my bed. It doesn't bother me. It's disgusting. It doesn't bother me. Did you eat in your bed? Bag of chips? I'd eat in Bran's bed. I wouldn't eat in my bed. You're welcome anytime, brother. Thank you. But there is, coned ice cream is dangerous to me. In the car.

[00:33:53] In the car. It just feels like. It's so weird. Just stay at the ice cream parlor. Right. Eat it. It's dripping all over the place. It's on your hand. You can't wash your hand right afterwards. It's sticky. And then you're touching the steering wheel with your sticky hand. I don't like it. I don't like getting the sticky stuff all over my hands. Would you eat ice cream in your bed? Great clip that leap. I would eat ice cream in a bowl with a spoon in my bed. While driving? No. Okay. I was about to say, if you're going to drive and eat ice cream, it has to be in the car. Ice cream to me is not a car thing.

[00:34:23] I've eaten a coat of ice cream while driving before. Yeah. You're a wild man. But would you let everybody else get your car to it? In my wife's car, I would. The car we typically would go get ice cream in, I would. In my car? No. My kids can't eat my car. You guys are so wealthy, you have a car just for ice cream getting? It's crazy. We have the ice cream car. Sarah, grab the ice cream. You'd think it would be an ice cream van. No. No, no, no, no.

[00:34:53] Not even an ice cream truck. Really? Ice cream car. No, no, no. It's just a car to go get ice cream. This is nonsense. We just like hearing ourselves talk. Yeah, I know. Come at you at morning. You know the best ice cream is down at Plain Penguins. Oh, my gosh. Yeah. They're opening around now, by the way. Yeah, crazy. What? WCRC, the morning zoo. Come at you. Today's ice cream flavor is whatever the heck you want, treat yourself. Let's go, boys.

[00:35:23] Those ratings are going through the roof, everybody. Perfect. Gilmore the Marrier, Apple Podcast. Five stars. That's right. Get after it. What are Jess and Rory doing to that pie? What are they doing to the pie? There is a full pie in front of them. Have they cut it in slices? Hell no. Have they decided to try to, like, I don't know, eat? It is just like they've just been hitting it with their fists. All the crust is still there. The middle is mush.

[00:35:53] The pie is a reverse pizza. I don't care about crust on a pizza. The crust of a pie, if it's good, makes the pie. What they're doing to this pie is ungodly. It shouldn't happen. For the love of everything good and decent, someone teach them how to eat a slice of pie. I'd rather them do that while driving than whatever they're doing to it at the table at the diner. True. Oh, my God. I haven't seen a pie mangle that badly since American Pie. Dude, yeah. Well, that's a different... And they're not doing that.

[00:36:22] At least, I don't think so. That we saw. No. They're out in public. I don't think so. God almighty. It was crazy. What we record later in the day is a lot dirtier. Yeah. Yeah, of course. When you're here in person. Right. Different animal. I mean, I get to see you. Yeah, it's great. The mind wanders. The way what... This way what is purely like a lack of balance by Gilmore Girls. Turns out Lane Kim's still on this television program. Yeah. She has been gone for...

[00:36:52] If we watched one episode a week for months. Like, I feel like she's been gone at least five episodes. Right. So it was crazy for her to have a few scenes in this episode. It was just weird seeing her. It had been so long since I'd seen her do anything. It was pretty crazy to see her. Kirk promises us that his short film will have dams in it. Multiple dams. We get none. Zero dams. Yeah. None. I want to know if there's dams in the extended. Yeah. The uncut.

[00:37:22] We're going to go find it. We have to find that and watch it. We'll do a bonus episode. Yeah. Maybe we'll do a watch along for the YouTube. How about that? Also, two more. It is unlike Taylor and completely not fair of Taylor to tell Lorelai that she can pick the movie and not tell her that it has to come from a binder of movies that are free. That is not... Taylor wouldn't do that. He'd have the binder ready to go. That was not appreciated.

[00:37:48] But the most unlike their character is Jess in this episode who says, I could care less about being cool. Now... Oh my gosh. I know. First of all, if a normal person says that in regular conversation, do I think about the correction? Yes. But do I say the correction? Absolutely not. It is by and large nomenclature. It's vernacular for someone to say, I could care less when they actually mean I couldn't care less.

[00:38:16] I couldn't care less means you actually do care some. Both are acceptable. Correct. But for Jess, who is Mr. Literature and Mr. I'm smart. I just can't believe he said this line. He shows up with his collar popped perfectly. Like, he cares about being cool. Yeah. First of all, you care about being cool. So you should never say this line. Second of all, if you want to tell somebody that you don't care about being cool, you would say... You, Jess, would say, I couldn't care less. Right.

[00:38:46] Sure. That's what you would say. For two reasons, I had a big problem there. That's all I got. Well, well, well. It's time for Written in the Stars Hollow. Questions we have. Predictions for the future. Etc. They're all acceptable now. Etc. Cool. Yep. Trent, you got an etcetera for us? I do. I have a few. Okay. So I asked you guys earlier, I do want to know what really caused the car accident. And do we ever get to the bottom of that? Because is war relying again? Because she keeps saying, something swerved, something swerved. I don't know.

[00:39:15] There's not a lot of wildlife running around Stars Hollow. So that seemed a little dubious. So I just wonder, maybe were they making out or something? Like, what happened? Right? So the big one. You're right. They just cut to the car being crashed already. I didn't even think. They don't even show the car being crashed. They cut to a phone call. Wow. Yeah. So I assumed that Jess, after the scene where Jess was like, hey, this ice cream cone is driven, can you grab the wheel? Like, that was showing his carelessness.

[00:39:42] And then, so like, in my head, that's what led to the crash. He was being careless. That's what led. But I guess we don't know. You're right. Maybe he was like, they were driving and reading. You know Jess. He's always reading. Yeah. Let's see. Oh, how does Rory tell Dean? And what happens when Dean finds out? That might be his best magic trick. He steals Dean's love. Sheesh, already has. Yeah. So that's a bad one. Where does Jess go? He just leaves town, right? Or do we find out where he goes in this episode? No, we don't.

[00:40:10] We just said, we don't even know that it's confirmed. Patty and Babette are talking. Right. And say that he left town. He's on the bridge. And then. I get the feeling we're not done with Jess based upon how many people are upset that we think he's a sociopath because he took a bracelet and didn't tell anybody. Right. Okay. Yeah. I mean, my last one, though, I do want to know. All of a sudden, Christopher's back. There's a lot of good chemistry. Does this spark a new romance between Lorelei and Christopher? It's always right there below the surface every time he shows up. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:40:39] She seems to forget about Luke really quickly when Christopher comes into town. Yeah. Fair. Absolutely. Absolutely. I do want to know about Kirk and his movie career. I don't feel like people gave this movie the respect it deserves in the town. There was not nearly enough applause afterwards. How did he feel about the showing? Right. Being in the crowd. That's a good one. Yeah. Did Kirk go like, this is the best night ever?

[00:41:07] Did he, you know, was he discouraged afterwards? That's what I want to know. Do you think we have upcoming a Bramble Jam marathon? Yeah. Should we do a live watch of the uncut DVD during it? There are some hours to kill. We have to watch Hallmark, but we can. It has to be on the TV. Oh, yeah. Hallmark has to be on the TV the whole time. Really? Yeah, live. Do we have a second TV we could watch? Probably could wing one in there. That could be fun. No rules. No rules. Dano? I want to know how many of these movie nights they have. They tend to have a lot of these things.

[00:41:36] The Picnic Basket or the Founder's Day or the blah, blah, blah. But like here in downtown Greenville, we have a movie night every week during the fall. Like I think there's eight of them in a row. So it seemed crazy that this was a once a year thing. This seems like a town that would do these anytime the weather is nice. So I want to know how many of these movie nights we have because they do the yearling every year, which why not have more than one of these? My town does like a dozen too. It's not that big of a deal.

[00:42:02] I'm getting excited, Dan, to go to Connecticut for Rye Guy's wedding here. We are. I'm a groomsman. I'm excited. That's right, man. I can't believe you got the call. I'm excited to see. Your voice is top tier. I'm excited to see just that area. I haven't been up there before. I'm excited. Does it give me the Star's Hollow feels? It'll be beautiful in October. I know. As long as it gives me the pizza feels because I'm planning on eating all the New Haven pizza that they have. All the New Haven pizza. Are you guys flying? Catch me there. Catch me outside, yeah. [00:42:32] I also, for some reason, didn't realize that Yale is just right in smack dab in the middle of New Haven. I didn't realize it was right there. Yale, we can go catch a class. We can go catch a class. Should we call ahead and ask if we can catch a class or just show up and pop into one? In every show and movie I've ever seen, you can walk into a class. They do that in this? Remember the episode they go to Harvard? That's right. They just pop into Harvard. If they did it in Harvard, they can do it at Yale. Yeah, why not?
