BRAN’S GILMORE GIRLS (SEASON 2 EPISODE 2) SYNOPSIS
Lorelai has officially entered wedding planning mode. She tells Rory she went dress shopping the day before…and it was AWFUL. Rory is like, “Great, we’re going right now!”
At Chilton, Paris is signing up for summer school, extra classes, extracurriculars — the whole thing. Rory walks up, but Paris is still mad about the Tristan situation. She tells Rory she better not show up at the charity home-building event tomorrow. Rory’s like, “Oh, I’ll be there.”
Remember Henry, the guy Lane hit it off with at the party? He tells Rory he tried calling, but Mrs. Kim scared him off. So he gives Rory his number to pass along.
Friday night dinner time. Rory reminds Lorelai she needs to tell Emily and Richard about the engagement. Lorelai’s like, “I will soon, okay?!”
Richard pulls Rory aside and apologizes for how he treated Dean. He says he wanted to do it in person. Rory forgives him, and they hug. Progress!
Meanwhile, Lorelai is alone with Emily and decides to finally tell her about the engagement. Emily’s response? “That’s nice. I hope I’m in town.” Lorelai is…not thrilled.
The next day, Rory heads to the house-building charity event. She shows up with a pink, fluffy hammer (not ideal), and the guy in charge is basically like, “Good luck.” Paris immediately claims a wall and tells Rory to find somewhere else. She reveals she’s been volunteering for years — it’s all part of her Harvard plan. Rory realizes…she is WAY behind on extracurriculars. Uh oh.
Rory vents to Dean, spiraling about how she can’t relax this summer — she has to catch up. Dean is not loving this. He just wants to spend time together and is like, “Is that too much to ask?”
Lorelai feels bad seeing Rory so stressed, which kind of ruins her date with Max. Max talks about how supportive his parents are, and Lorelai is like…must be nice. He tries to get her to think about things rationally, but instead she decides to bring him to meet her parents.
Bold choice.
This leads to a big fight with Emily. Lorelai finally lets it out: “Why don’t you care? You’ve never cared, and it hurts.” Emily fires back that she found out about the engagement from a stranger instead of her own daughter.
The next day at work, Lorelai realizes it was Sookie who told Emily while planning an engagement party. Everything clicks.
At the party, Lorelai is actually having a great time — even though Max is about to leave for Toronto for a while.
Dean finds Rory, and they make up.
Meanwhile, Lorelai notices Luke isn’t there, so she goes to the diner. He gives a weird excuse about being busy “working”…on ketchup. She tells him she really wants him there — it’s an important night.
When Luke finally shows up, he sees Lorelai slow dancing with Max. They spot each other and just…wave.
Oof.
The episode ends with Lorelai going to Emily for advice about veils. She apologizes for not telling her sooner and admits they don’t communicate well. She explains she was scared of how Emily would react.
Emily softens…just a little. Then tells her her head is too big for a veil and she should wear a tiara — like she did.

[00:02:44] With a Founder's Day punch in one hand And a Twinkie in the other hand And he eats In his pajamas And drinks In his pajamas I don't know if he'll live through the night No, he won't His body will be so defensive His body will be like Clearly Something's happened We're shutting it down Someone bring a defibrillator Please Just in case But realistically I'll be having orthodontic headgear And be asleep for two hours Already by then You're gonna bring your CPAP on stage Which is crazy You have a CPAP I don't know why you owe CPAP Just in case Chad, you two know The bit We're not doing a bit
[00:03:13] We are doing Gilmore the Marrier at night Oh yeah Okay You know that that's not a bit It's gonna be a late show I can be fun Yeah I just wanna make sure That you I know that we're doing We're promising a lot Every 10 to specific time Hey, do you know what I realized Two days ago, Brin? Like that That Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey comes out Bramblefest weekend I am like Inconsolable I don't know what to do This is a movie coming out This is only the most important movie Really? Is it a sequel? A new one? No, it's just
[00:03:42] I'm a huge Chris Nolan fan Right What else has he done? Dunkirk Oppenheimer The Dark Knight Interstellar Interstellar Interstellar Interstellar Interstellar You haven't seen any of them? Maybe The Dark Knight With Joker Heath Ledger's The Joker No God almighty Chad What are we doing here? They're on too late for me What are you talking about? They're on too late Yeah, they're always too late They're on too late Yeah I like to watch them earlier They are on too Oh my god This is crazy Right Hasn't seen any of them? Were you raised like in a household
[00:04:12] That couldn't watch movies? Dan, we couldn't afford a TV Okay Alright Why does he have to bring this up? Is there any chance There would be a Wednesday night? I don't know But sometimes they do some Funky IMAX stuff Yeah, Funky IMAX stuff I'm gonna make it work I saw Funky IMAX stuff live So good Really good Their acoustic set was killer Amazing Snarf Yeah So why don't we go see The Christopher Nolan After the late night party During Bramble Fest A midnight Dude, I would be dead And then after the movie It's probably gonna be A three plus hour movie Okay, then we come back And we start We start And we start
[00:04:42] And we start drinking The next morning Yeah, let's do it It's gonna be snowing In Greenville Hi Holly I lose my voice every year But now it's a new level Holly missed her DTH recording alarm I like that Welcome everyone in the chat If you're not a member Of Bramble Jam Plus You're missing out You're missing out That's right Here on May 6th That's right May 6th May 6th be with you Guys, we're talking about Gilmore Girls Season 2 Episode 2 Are you guys ready to dive in? Yes Dive in This one is called Hammers and Veils Hammers and Veils
[00:05:11] And also October 9th 2001 A double feature On the WB How about that? Makes sense now It's kind of a part two Really Yeah, yeah, yeah Maybe we should have Combined them Nah Leave a review There were a number Of reviews saying You wish there were more I appreciate it That is overwhelmingly In favor of the one But there was one person That says Can you sometimes Combine them Because I find myself Speeding ahead And I don't know How to decide That's why we originally Did two But I think the episodes Are better The podcast episodes
[00:05:40] Are better when we do one Right But I get We get in nuance Yes But it's like Listen, you gotta pace yourself You gotta pace yourself It is tough Because sometimes I want to go ahead And watch two But I can't You could You could I would But we've seen how Your notes are It doesn't matter Someone's turning into a toad And an apple All right October 9th 2001 I want a little Something like this Lorelai is starting To wedding plan She tells Rory about How she looked At dresses yesterday And it was awful Rory's like Oh we're going Wedding dress shopping
[00:06:10] Right now Paris is signing up For summer classes At Chilton Extra classes Extracurriculars All this stuff Rory walks up And Paris is still mad At her about the whole Tristan thing She tells Rory That she better not Show up at the Charity home building Thing tomorrow And Rory is like I'll see you there Remember that boy Henry that Lane Likes and had that One dance with In that one episode Well I didn't Until they reminded me But he tells Rory
[00:06:38] That he called One time But Lane's mom Scared him And so she gives Rory his number To give to her It's Friday night Dinner time And Rory tells Lorelai that she Needs to tell Richard And Emily About the engagement Lorelai says She will soon Okay Richard asks to Speak to Rory In private And he says I know that we Talked on the phone And I apologize But I wanted to Also apologize In person He asks if They're fine now And she says They're fine And she gives him
[00:07:08] A big old hug Lorelai Alone with her mom Decides to tell her About the engagement Why not Gotta cut the silence Somehow Emily says That's nice Hopefully I'm in town Lorelai is not Thrilled by this answer You should be more excited The next day It is time for Rory To help build a house All she has with her Is a pink fluffy hammer And the dude that is in charge Is like Well good luck out there Paris shows up And is like This is my wall Don't put nails in my wall I put up this wall Go somewhere else Paris says
[00:07:40] I've been volunteering Here for years That's how I'm gonna Get into Harvard It's not just about The good grades You gotta be Volunteering From a young age And Rory's like I knew that She didn't know that She's very behind So when later When Rory meets up With Dean She's freaking out She can't hang out Or kick back this summer She needs to catch up On the extracurriculars Dean is not thrilled By this It's summer I just wanna hang out With you Is that too much To ask Yes Lorelai feels bad About how stressed
[00:08:10] Rory is And that puts a damper On her date With Max And then Max Tells her about How happy his parents Are about the engagement Lorelai is like Well it must be nice To have supportive parents Max tries to help her Think through this rationally She's not interested Instead she takes him To meet her parents She picks quite the fight With Emily And Lorelai says Why don't you care You never care And it hurts And Emily says Well how do you think It felt when I found out About your engagement
[00:08:39] From basically a stranger Before I found out from you Cut me deep The next day Thank you for the Shrek Reference The next day You've seen Shrek Yeah Yes Yeah He's got that one In the channel It was on earlier But honestly I can believe that Christopher Nolan movies Historically don't play Before 9 at night Shrek does That's a normal thing Does Christopher Nolan Has he ever done a Shrek He has not done a Shrek Let me know Yeah
[00:09:09] A live action Shrek Directed by Chris Nolan Dear God Make it happen Take me to church Okay so Where was I The dunk tank Yes No no no The next day When Lorelai gets to work She finds out that Suki is planning an engagement party And it all clicks in It was Suki That told Emily That's why she's mad At the party Lorelai is having the best time Despite the fact that Max is about to leave For Toronto Something We
[00:09:38] Knew I don't know Dean finds Rory And they make up It's nice Can't help but wonder Where Luke is At this party And so she walks over To the diner And he's like Oh sorry I'm here I'm working on the ketchup She tells him that She'd like to see him there It's a big night for her And it feels like He should be there When he does Finally show up He sees her slow dancing With Max And they both wave At each other The episode ends With Lorelai Coming to Emily To ask for advice On two veils
[00:10:08] She apologizes For her waiting To tell her About the engagement She explains why She waited They don't communicate Well Sometimes she Tells things to Emily That she's excited about And Emily Kind of tears her down And it has an effect On her And so she wanted She just wanted To be happy About her engagement And wasn't sure How her mom Would respond And that's why She waited And Emily responds To that by telling her That her head Is too big For a veil She should consider A tiara
[00:10:37] That's what she wore And that Was nice And that's progress That was Gilmore Girls Season 2 Episode 2 Hammers and Bails Yes We did it By Christopher Nolan By Christopher Nolan Christopher Nolan Project Alright let's take a break We'll come back I haven't seen a single Chris Nolan movie This is crazy The night is young The prestige Love that one God Have you seen Shrek 2? No I don't think so A banger Shrek 1 was enough Better than 1
[00:11:06] Shrek 1 is never enough Shrek 2 is better Than Shrek 1 Because by season 7 8 usually goes down Shrek 3 sucks Shrek 2 is real sucky Better than Shrek 1 By a mile Puss in boots Get out of here Shrek 2 is better than Shrek 2 I watched Shrek 2 this weekend Get off me Really? Yes My kids chose it First thing Of the mile Because of Puss in boots Yes It was a Well I don't want to get It seems like a little bit I don't know I don't know I gotta be honest
[00:11:36] I don't know And I want to get ahead of this I want to apologize Yeah Yeah Unless it turns out Shrek 2 is better than Shrek 1 Full stop Counting Crows theme song At the beginning That's good Banger It's not better than All Star Better than All Star Counting Crows At Hootie and the Blowfish Dan Hootie and the Blowfish Okay Yes Oh yeah Yeah Okay Just checking Let's talk Game 1 Girls
[00:12:06] Season 2 Episode 2 Hammers and Veils Lots to get to today Yes We'll start with the hot take This is where we share our thoughts On this episode I'll start with you Chad Can you read your notes If so What do you think about this episode This is what I love About this series That they will go Like up and down Like they mess with you They're like The emotional rollercoaster You're running the gamut of emotions Like Shrek 1 to Shrek 2 You get it You understand So Puss in boots And it's a phrase You think it's going to be All happy fun time But it's real No Or some heavy parts That curse is a real deal It was a lot darker than I thought
[00:12:36] Yeah No no for sure He lost everything The Prince Charming Yeah but he didn't He did it Possibly Yeah good I love that ending So here's with this one As my notes say Heavy take Heavy heavy Whoa baby Right there So This was A heavy episode Everyone towed That's right That's also from Shrek 2 But it's The dad Is this towed When he Go back Back to you Quit Yes So anyway Let's get to it The dinner with the parents That was supposed to be
[00:13:05] Celebrating Rory From episode 1 Of season 2 Gone It's just brutal It's quiet Emily is rushing them through I love this episode Not because it was fun I love this episode Because it shows The full range Of everything Going on here And that They're just They don't know How to communicate Lorelei and Emily Have never learned How to communicate There is love there Underlying But there's so much Hurt and pain I do believe there is Dan And if you don't Like Dan's take on it Give a Not a bad review On the Deck
[00:13:34] Give a five star review A five star On the Gilmore The Marrier review Yes So you see this Hot and cold Give and take Email me Dan At deckthehomework.com I'll email you about it Trust me I got nowhere to be All day to get there It's May 6th You're good Until Memorial Day So this is what's crazy For Emily Is like If you do what I want And act how I want you to The world is yours There's a lot of Conditional love there For sure And if not You are locked out of heaven Correct And that's what it is There's no love There's just conditional love But there is love
[00:14:04] There's no unconditional love there Possibly So So anyway But then they're having This whole thing Let me skip down here Because it gets to This really awkward dinner But then the whole thing With Luke And Lorelai And she's dancing With Max And they give this Kind of wave to each other So I have a question For you Brian Maybe you know Dan maybe you know How long do Luke And Lorelai Know each other Did they They didn't grow up together They're just They've known each other A long time Yeah So she If she moved into
[00:14:34] Stars Hollow Or moved into the At least the The room behind The inn When she was 16 Where Rune lives now I would You know Luke grew up in Stars Hollow His dad Owned the Even with that Brooklyn accent Even with that Brooklyn accent I know it's confusing So 16 years So I would assume That they met Somewhere around That would be my guess Okay So there's a History there I mean You're just watching it And you're like No Lorelai Leave Max Go with Luke Or maybe don't It's very cool To be that Into a show
[00:15:03] So I love it Yeah It was a great episode Man It was It was a really Good episode Yeah it really Did feel like A part two Of episode one For sure Which you know It is what it is But the episode Is great And there's just There's I really did think That the Ending of this episode With Emily The apology The conversation That she has With Emily And Emily's Response to it Obviously the most Emily response Of all time
[00:15:33] Your head is too Big for a veil It's hilarious But I do feel Like Her basically Being honest With her mom And being like Here is how Our The way When I've told you Stuff before Good things In my life The way that You've responded Has ruined That moment For me And her Mom Emily In that moment Not arguing Not pushing Back Hearing her And responding The way she did Did make me think Perhaps
[00:16:03] There is A future here Where Emily Realizes That she's Ruined things That she's The reason For it Really good Ending of this episode I thought that That was really good But everything Like the Party The engagement Party Is ridiculous And I would Expect nothing Else from Suki and Stars Hollow It makes Complete sense The Lane storyline Which I didn't Give a ton Of time In this Sodopsis But also Is very
[00:16:33] Funny So And also Like her Rory showing Up with the Pink hammer And all of That Yes Realizing that She's behind On extracurriculars Which is Ridiculous But whatever Everything in This episode Worked for me Loved it You know It's good To be back Guys It's good To be back I'm glad We survived Cinco de Mayo It's a good Thing We would Have to Review this Otherwise Dana Yeah I mean Once again I think Everyone Involved
[00:17:03] In Gilmore Girls Is Operating At the Height Of Their Powers I know I said That Last Week But It Feels Like A Show Where Everyone Is Committed And Invested In What makes The show Great I disagree With the Takes On Emily I think That that Goes without Saying The only I think It's still A great Episode Of TV The only Thing I will Grant In this Discussion Is You know Amy Sherman Palladino Is a Geriatric Gen Xer So
[00:17:32] She is Like Was born In the Mid 60s Right And so Her Parents Probably Were Very Much Or The Parents Of A lot Of Folks Born In 1966 Were Of This Ilk Right This Like I don't Apologize To You Children Of The Depression Exactly Yes The only Thing I Will Grant You Is I Should Be Left To Their Own Devices And Never To Be Spoken To Again Barring Some Sort Of
[00:18:24] It's Okay And To Power Through And To Continue To Move Forward And She Believed That To Be A Good Thing To Tell People It's Not A Good Thing To Tell People I Want To Be Clear It's A Bad Thing To Tell People It's A Bad Thing To Go That's Just How Your Parents Are Let Them Continue To Manipulate You And Abuse You Because That's Just The Family Dynamic So Show Up Take It On The Chin And Keep Moving It's A Bad Lesson But I Will Grant You That In 2001 It Seemed Like A Good Lesson There's Rory Says The R
[00:18:54] Word In This Episode Yeah That Was Rough All right We Can Say The Word Wasn't Rough Yeah We Can Say That
[00:19:42] Maybe That Successfully So This Episode Once Again Has Everyone Clicking On All Cylinders I Had A Blast With This Luke Continues To Fall Further Down The Ladder For Me As A Human Being With Any Sort Backbone Or Gumption Of Any Kind What So I Just Would Prefer You Be Actively Bad Like Emily Than Say Nothing Like Luke Get Over Yourself You're The Worst And I Have These Strong Feelings Because The TV Show Is Working It's Good Television And I Can't Wait For The Next One I Was
[00:20:11] Mad I Had To Turn This Off After I Would Have Said All That I Would Have Heard What Emily Said And Then I Would Have Walked Out And I Would Have Said If You
[00:20:41] Continue This Relationship At All Then You're Going To Have To Change You're Going To To Change I'm Not Here To Do This Anymore It's Not My To Carry To My To Be To To To Hostage By Your Biological Relation To Me Because You Don't Know How To Emotionally Involve It's Not My Job And So It's Your Job You're The Parent It's Your Job To Do That So If You Can Show Me You Want To Do The
[00:21:12] Work I Would Love To Have You In My Life So We Get There Or No We're To Get Some Like Listen We Can Scrubs Have You Seen Scrubs Yes So It's An Ogre Yeah Yeah Doctor So Doctor Cox Is Verbally Abusive To JD Throughout That Oh
[00:21:42] That's The Older Doctor Yes Yeah Right Throughout The Series In Fact In The Reboot They Have An HR Person Come In And Relentlessly And It's Not Okay But He Does It Because Their Relationship Is Not Father Son He Does It Because That's How He Makes People Better Is He Wrong Yes But Can I Still Pull
[00:22:11] For A Change I Can If It Is A Parent To A Child I Can't Pull For A Change When That When It Involves The Daughter Continually Showing Up To Get Haymakers Thrown Right That's Not Healthy It Just Isn't So That's The Difference Like There Are Dynamics Where There Is Verbal Abuse Going On And I In Shows That I Love Like Scrubs And I Love The Dynamic And I Pull For The Dynamic I Just Can't Do It Here It Doesn't Mean It's Fun To
[00:22:41] Watch I'm Just Saying I Can't Do It Right One One Might Say You've Heard It On Deck The Hallmark I've Heard Him Correct You Many Times And I Don't Like It All The Time You Know Yeah You Deserve Better Buddy Thanks Yeah Yeah No Lisa Said People of Don't Do That You Don't Tell Your Parents How To Treat You 100% You Shouldn't Have To You Don't Take It That's What I'm Trying To Say Is That You Shouldn't Have To Go In And Go This Is How I Should Be Treated By My Parents Get A Dunk Tag You Go In You You
[00:23:11] You Demand To Be Treated Like A Human Being And If That's Not The Is It It Is Time For All The Feels Lines Yes Moments Etc Gives
[00:23:41] Feels Certainly Not The One Rory Says So That's Not Happening No No We Didn't That Didn't Make The Cut Yeah That Was Rough Yeah That Was So Paris Is Talking To Rory About Volunteering To Help Build The Houses And She Says You Don't Want To Do That Rory That's Not You Excuse Me Building Houses And So Anyway She Said Rory Then Turns Right Away Like That You Know That's The Snappy Dialogue She
[00:24:11] Says I Have Multiple Personalities It Might Be That A High School Kid In 2001 Would Say That But It Certainly Felt Shocking To Hear It Yeah But You Know
[00:24:41] Sweet Rory Tristan Says It And Rory Is Like You Know Helping Her Through It I'm Sure Maybe Like The One Way
[00:25:11] Ticket Was To Save Money Like You Know Get I'm Sure You're Going To Come Home She Calls Her Up And She's Like You Gotta See This Bag That My It's As Big As Her It's Bigger Right This Suitcase Is It's Not Real It So Funny And Then When She Goes To Leave It's Trapped On Top Of The
[00:25:40] Station Wagon And I Gotta Be Honest It Is As Fantastical A prop As I Think We'll Ever See On This Show I Don't Know If It's Real I Don't Know If It's Like In Her Mind This Is How Big It Is And We Get To See It It's Something Because They They've Never Done Walking Into The Diner At The Inn And Being Like Look At All These Ketchup And They're Giant Ketchup Bottles Because
[00:26:10] In His Mind This Is An Overwhelming Death I Don't Know If This Is A Real Suitcase Or Not I Michelle I Think I I Just Was Wrong Initially About That It Was Like So Different That I
[00:26:40] Just Wasn't Ready For It And I Was Wrong He's Great His One Liners Are Great He's Used The Appropriate Amount Perfect Suki Comes In And Needs Him To Tell Which Could Her He Needs Him The Line I Had Written Down I Don't Remember The Context For Which Is You Know The Gettysburg Address Was Only One Page Long And That
[00:27:10] Was About A War So Somebody Was Speaking Too Long So That Was A Funny One Too But Michelle Crushed It Another Funny Bit Kirk Is Running The Show Of This Part Of This Engagement Party And Miss Patty Has Her Dancers Go Up They're Dancing And Wedding Gowns Or Whatever And Rory Comes Up Behind Kirk And Is Like Why Aren't You Up There And He Goes I Don't Do Tap Anymore There's So Many In This Show Kirk Being Serious Like That's Kirk He Doesn't
[00:27:40] Understand That She's Making A Joke He Honestly Has That Actor Been In Other Stuff Since Gina Yeah Guardians Of The Galaxy His Brother Yeah He's Yeah Because He's Great He's Fantastic In That Role All Right Let's Take a Break We'll Come Back We'll Get To The Written The Star Hero The Welcome Back Gilmore Marrier The It's Great To Be Here Today We're Talking About Episode Two Of Season Two
[00:28:10] Let's Start With The Wait What I'll Start With You Chad All Right Obviously The Biggest Wait What Was What We've Been Discussing Was Just Rory Again Throwing The R Word Out There Like It Was Nothing Like In Casual Conversations It And I Do Think It Would Not
[00:28:39] Be A Shock To Hear A High School Kids Say That I Am Still Kind Of Surprised That In 2001 Standard And Practices Or Something Like Someone Wasn't Like Hey Maybe Maybe Not For A Joke Line Right But I And She Was A
[00:29:09] Considered A Hero Of The Show Would Say The R Word Regularly And It It Was I Loved
[00:29:39] It But It Was Not Even A Wedding You're Right Yeah That She Just Decided To Say Yes To It Wasn't Like An Instant Yes Either She Hemped And Hawed For At Least A Day That That That Earlier Like It Was
[00:30:09] In Its Prime In The 90s Right Right What You Say Yeah Up Until Season Seven Yeah Of Course Yeah Bran's Gonna Sit Here And Tell You Season Seven Boy Meets World Is Great I'm Sure No No No No Okay Good It's Another One I've Were Ninety Three To Two Thousand Okay I Can Tell You When I Think Boy Meets World Hit It's Stride Let's Okay Here We Go All right We're Gonna
[00:30:53] Fifth Season That's What I Was Thinking I Think Season Five Is My Favorite That's A Good One Yeah Lane DJing In The Town Square Seems Reckless To Remind Everybody Lane's Mom Does Not Know That She Listens To Music Her Entire Music Select Collection Is Hidden Yeah Below The Flooring Such
[00:31:23] Parents Are Strapping The Suitcase To The Top Of The Station Wagon Is Reckless She's Going To Get Found Out What Is She Going To Lose She's Going To Korea I Guess If You Don't Think You're Ever Coming Home Might As Well Go Out With A Bang And DJ Into Town Square It Was The First Time She's Been Very Not Even Hiding That There You Go
[00:31:54] There Is Not A Year Long Class Called Obscure Russian Poetry You Wouldn't Find That Class In College Obscure Russian Poetry For Ninth Graders No Way No How Sorry The Most Like I Have A History Degree The Most Like Deep Dive Class I Took Was Assassinations In And That Was
[00:32:25] Lord How Many Weeks That Was A Semester Long Senior Seminar Where I Had To Write Nine Papers In A Semester And Read Nine Books I Gotta Be The
[00:33:24] guys, the kitchen, you're not getting any food. If you're staying at the inn, you're not getting any food. None. If you want to go anywhere, good luck if it's the night of the engagement party. They've shut it down. They didn't tell you. You booked this trip to Peep Leaves or whatever you're doing. You booked this trip ages ago, and you're stuck at the Stars Hollow Inn with no food, and the road is shut down for a party. Get out of here.
[00:33:53] Guys, you've got to give the guests some warning. I was also thinking that they just used all the food from the inn. Who's paying for that? But the whole kitchen was taken over with cakes and stuff. Yeah, is that the inn's food? Yeah, that's tough. It's a big. I think Suki is stealing food supplies. Yeah, no kidding. She's sucking the food right out of there. And I'm all for decorating a hammer however you want to decorate it, unless it causes some safety concerns.
[00:34:22] If you bedazzle it as such to where the fur starts to hit the head of the hammer, someone's going to get hurt. A nail's going to get caught. Just move that. Sounds like he speaks from experience. Just move that. Listen, when I bedazzle my hammers, I try to make sure I leave room for the Holy Spirit and for the head of that hammer to make sure you're not going to get in the crossfire and it's going to be a problem. Also, these things exist, like Habitat for Humanity or Homes for Hope or whatever.
[00:34:51] But there's more training than that, right? They can't just tell a freshman in high school, yeah, just look out if someone looks out. Good luck to you. Right, right, yeah. And then have someone move in. There's got to be some sort of training. When I was in seventh grade on a mission trip, I was told to hang off the top of a two-story roof and paint the trim of a window with no ladder and no spotter and no safety net. Wow. I 100% believe that.
[00:35:21] The difference here is you were given that task. I was given the task and then left alone. She was given no task. He just goes, go find some nails and hammer. The task was don't get hit by anything. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Right. No, you're right. You're right. Yeah. I still am mad at the people in charge of that event that were like, I was like the youngest camper there. Yeah. You're in seventh grade. You want to paint the trim with the top one. You probably need to do that one first. So you got on a ladder. I got on a ladder. Hung upside down. And then hung upside. At the apex of the second floor, there was one window,
[00:35:51] and I did that one first. And so I'm upside down with a paint can in one hand and a paintbrush in the other hanging over the edge. Did you think at the time were you like, this is awesome? Yeah. I was like, I'm the coolest. Like Batman. I was like, nobody else wanted to do it? I'm like, I'm going to show him. It was 100% a dumb. No one else wanted to do this. I was like, dude, I'm going to show everybody how cool I am. That's a young man's game. Yes, it's a young man's game. Hanging from the top of the ladder to paint is a young man's game. Not even a ladder. I just got a ladder. They moved the ladder. It's just me. Imagine how hard the Sistine Chapel must have been. Yeah, no kidding.
[00:36:20] Yeah, no kidding. He just wanted to prove he was cool to his bros. My grandfather did. Check me out, guys. It's going to be good. I'm glad you survived, Dan. Thanks, man. Yeah, yeah. All right, Red in the Stars Hollow. What do we got, Chad? So again, the same question I had from the first episode. Are they going to actually go through with this wedding? There were so many times we're like, okay, she's moving forward. She's in love with Max. But then you see her wave at Luke.
[00:36:49] You see Luke's face at one point when he's in the diner. God, Luke is the worst. But he gave such a good look of longing and unrequited love at that point. I can't believe that you love Luke, Brynn. It's so ridiculous. Does the boy see a little something in Luke? Maybe. Okay. Maybe I see myself in the man. But yeah, keep bad-mouthing him. Keep talking about how he has no backbone and he deserves to die.
[00:37:14] Whenever I say things about Luke, I'm not talking about you. I'm talking about Luke. He sucks. Luke needs to nut up, man. Unless Luke wasn't around. How do you think I hear that? I'm glad Luke doesn't live next to me. I could never be neighbors with Luke. Right, exactly. Or do a show with him. Luke sucks. So that was one question. Is the wedding going to actually happen? And again, I will ask this because there's multiple episodes. Rune moved into that back room in the inn.
[00:37:44] They showed the inn the whole time. Where is Rune? What happened to Rune? Rune Watch 2026. Rune Watch. Rune Watch. No Rune. Right. We'll keep you posted. Okay. Rune Cook. I'm not saying that Lorelai is like a notorious flip-flopper or something. I do think that this party's too soon. Way too soon. Have you met her? She took multiple days to decide if she was going to say yes or no to this man.
[00:38:13] And they threw a party, best I can figure, the weekend? I don't know. Like very soon after. Although Sookie didn't really give her a choice. She's like, we're doing it. Right. Yeah, yeah. She was surprised. Like let's... Yeah, Sookie should have waited. Sookie, let's... Because let's just say hypothetically, this doesn't work out. What? Get out of here. Next time around, everyone's going to be like, fool me once. Right. I'm not going to do this again. Did you see how many gifts she had? Yes. How much money we spent on something that's not happening? Right.
[00:38:42] This is reckless. This is too soon. You're right. Let's just say that I'm just not sure how best of friends Sookie and Lorelai are. I don't think they get each other at all. Like this is not what you would do in this. You would give it a week. Right. But at the same time, Lorelai loves being the center of attention. She loves the town basically revolving around her. So this is something that she would want. True. True. True. True. I do just think it's soon. And also, that's just why you wait for these type of parties to happen until pretty close
[00:39:12] to the wedding. Well, there was even that one point where she tells Sookie and Sookie says, it is Max, right? Like she wasn't even sure who she was engaged to. Yeah. So this is tough because, again, hypothetically, what do we do next time? I'm not coming. I'm not coming next time. None of us are. Right. We had a great night. It was Lane DJ. She risked her life to DJ this event. I'm not doing it next time. Dano?
[00:39:41] In the same hypothetical where I assume that I'm assuming Lorelai and Max aren't forever and I'm assuming that Rory and Dean aren't forever. On the other side of that coin from Lorelai and Max, like, I want to know how Rory breaks up or how Rory and Dean fall apart. Because I got to be honest, this dude's cut for a high school boy, kind of a superstar. He gets real mad at Rory in this episode. He would like to. He gets real mad at Rory in this episode because she keeps saying she's going to hang out with
[00:40:10] him and then she bails to do extracurriculars. And she is clearly like spinning out of control because she wants to be prepared for what she believes is her destiny. Like, it's fated that she do these things. She's got to live up to the family name, blah, blah, blah. And so it's clear she has a lot of anxiety. Dean doesn't see it. And I'm watching going, all right, this is where Dean falls off the wagon. Right. Like, Dean doesn't get it. He doesn't understand. He's a jerk. He's blah, blah, blah. And by the end of this episode, Dean's like, yeah, like whatever you need to feel comfortable
[00:40:40] to get to Harvard, like, let's go do it. And if you need to be away every night, then like. Who spoke to Dean? I've never in a high school dude who can process that and go, you know what? That's totally fine. What an all-star. What an all-star of a human being. So what do you think happened in the intervening time that made Dean think of this? I don't know. I don't know. But like he, he gets upset. She tells him she's anxious and he comes back and he's like, I get it.
[00:41:10] I understand. And it's healthier communication than you probably see from anyone else on the show. He's a softball field. Whatever it may be, I just want to know how they break up. Because I like, that's more of a mystery to me than Max and Lorelai. He says he loves her. Yeah. And she doesn't say it back. That's right. Well, that already happened. Right. Again. It happens again. Building her a car. Makes her a second car. A second. Because Adolus is a motorbike. Right. So sidecar. We can finish the car. We can finish the car. Congratulations to us. That's a good, what's in the written stars hollow? Where's the car?
[00:41:40] Where's the car? Where's the car? All right, everybody. We're going to be back next week. Episode three. It's one premiered on a different date.
