[00:01:26] I will make sure No, we're not It's fine Okay, I have a lead Easier for me to not dress in theme It's fine I have a lead You have a lead? I have a lead on who can make the pants and the shirt for us Did you get like a hot scoop? What are we doing right now? I can't get into the nitty gritty of it, Dan But I have a lead And I will make sure that I either know for sure That we're getting the one giant pant with six pant legs And one giant shirt with multiple holes Before we need There's a cutoff date

[00:01:55] I What you just said was nothing You said I have a lead Yes I can't get into the nitty gritty of it right now I can't But I will know for sure With enough time I'm going to find out if we can If and know for If when we know for sure I said that though Because you said we're going to be left with not enough time to get anything And what I'm saying is Is I will either know or I won't know with enough time In other words, we may have a bespoke pajama set Or just wear whatever I grew up in on He's got a lead, gang He's got a lead And I'm going to let him take it and run with it

It's the dude who plays the prince in all those movies Yeah Oh that's right It's the same movie And then that's the girl from the up TV No but they were in the one together

[00:03:23] They were in a something together Anyway Yeah no that's good It's good stuff Season 2 episode 7 is called like Mother Like Daughter November 13th 2001 Is when it aired and it went a little something like this The car battery is dead folks That leads to some classic Gilmore girl banter Oh my gosh At school Rory is called to the guidance counselor's office

[00:03:51] Apparently there is concern over her social Or should I say lack of social behavior She's unapproachable they say She's a loner they say So Lorelai shows up to give headmaster Charleston a piece of her mind And he's like well I also have a folder on you Turns out you're not a very active parent You're a bit of a loner You should be a bit more involved And I've got some ideas

[00:04:20] Rory takes the criticism to heart And sits down with some random girls at lunch To prove that she can be social Social After lunch Parrish comes Parrish Parrish Parrish comes over and is like How did you get an invite to sit down with the puffs? Okay Rory has no idea What she's talking about The puffs you say? Apparently That friend group that she sat down with Is the popular girls

[00:04:50] Known as the puffs And Parrish Asks her to help her Sit at the table Get an invite to the puff table The popular table Extends to the boosters as well Which is the table that Lorelai is invited to The boosters They're planning a fall fundraiser Lorelai offers to hold the event At the inn Rory successfully gets Parrish Invited to sit at the puff table Parrish is thrilled At the inn

[00:05:19] They're getting ready for the event And one of the booster moms Takes quite a liking to Luke And I'll say this Who can blame her? Right man? Oh for sure What a great guy that Luke is Oh yeah He's hard working Stable job Integral in the community Friendly Your defense Wasn't even dynamic It's just I don't understand you Apparently The moms

[00:05:49] All do a fashion show And Lorelai and Emily Are teamed up together Emily is loving it Dancing to girls Just want to have fun And that song Gets Lorelai thinking Girls do just want to have fun And she joins in On the dancing Afterwards Emily points out That she finds it interesting To see her fitting in so well Into the world That she so desperately Wanted to run away from I'll let you think about that And I'll walk away The puffs show up And kidnap Rory

[00:06:19] In the middle of the night With the other potential puffs Including Paris They're being puffed They break into Headmaster Charleston's office And just as Rory Is saying her pledge To the puffs While ringing the bell To the puffs To the puffs The night is ruined By Headmaster Charleston He's lecturing them When Rory speaks up And says Sir I'm only here Because you all demanded That I begin to socialize I have a social life In Stars Hollow

[00:06:48] That you just don't see But I felt like I had to do this So I sat down At a random table And I ended up Getting kidnapped In the middle of the night And I was trying to appease you Headmaster Charleston Is like Fair points Madam I will make sure That this doesn't count Against you Lorelai tells Luke That she doesn't want him To go out with that mom From the boosters They argue a bit And he says The only reason he talked to her In the first place Is because she needed Some directions And the episode ends With Rory

[00:08:16] Well I tell you This was the best of times It was the worst of times This episode I loved The whole The mother daughter thing I love seeing Emily and Lorelai Existing in the same universe This high end universe That scene where they're on the catwalk together And Emily Just as an actor What a great actor Because she's always so sullen And serious And annoyed And she's just dancing And happy I was like I would love that scene It was so fun to me Her husband nowhere to be found Yeah It was just

[00:08:46] It was just great The song was right And I remind me What a great Great singer Cyndi Lauper is too Sure So just them dancing That whole thing Seeing them Was great Now The part I didn't love Was the puffs Very interesting Here's this secret society Goes back a hundred years Yes certain people Aren't aware of them And meanwhile They're like Rory You know You're not the type of student We want You mind your own business Read and get good grades That's right We are not happy About that Yeah You need to get involved With the socializing

[00:09:15] Of high school Which always goes so great So meanwhile Here we have Lorelai Who for all intents and purposes Has renounced Her claim to high society Just fitting in perfectly Adroitly handling This whole The booster club thing It goes beautifully It was fun The whole thing Luke coming in And helping her And fixing the catwalk Was cool A lot of great stuff One last thing I want to point out This is interesting I know you guys Like movies a lot more Than me When Emily walks in When Lorelai Is at the catwalk

[00:09:45] Talking to Emily Before the big modeling show Yeah The camera pans to Emily Kind of from below Zooms into her A little bit And just has such weight And gravitas Like she's in the center of it Almost as if the director Is showing us How Lorelai feels Because it sucks All the energy Out of the room It goes right to Emily Interesting Go back and watch that scene It really struck me As a beautiful Directorial choice And I was like I wonder if they do that Every time Emily Enters the room Because it was It was really cool So I just

[00:10:14] Thought I was going to be On an island When I was like This is kind of Just like Peak selfishness Of Emily But I'm Is very like I didn't even think of that Really good stuff Yeah I agree with that Yeah go back and watch it And I wonder if we're Missing it in other scenes If they do that If that's a regular thing Because it was really neat So anyway It's a good episode And weird episode Yes I also like this episode But I will talk about The puffs I thought that this was

[00:10:44] A really solid Rory episode I like episodes With Rory When Like the scene Where she kind of Speaks up for herself And it kind of Oh my god So good It kind of like It's getting away from her But she can't stop herself And she's Making this point To headmaster Charleston Was really great And I loved that And I just thought Like Paris Coming to Rory Like hey

[00:11:13] I need you This guy I'm happy to see Paris back And happy to see Her and Rory Getting into some Shenanigans Like those two together Are just so wonderful So I Like I agree with you I thought that the stuff With Lorelai And Emily Was I like those two together But I really Like the puff thing It's stupid So stupid Like it's stupid And I'll get into it Like it just It just So stupid It just This wouldn't happen No But

[00:11:43] It was really It was fun It was silly And it allowed Rory to Really speak up And speak up For herself And I really Like that Dana It was almost Worth it When they Kidnapped them To see Rory dressed up In Paris With all the Zit medicine On That was a nice Touch That was a nice Touch by them Of Paris Thinking the world Against her Look This episode From a plot Construction Standpoint Is the worst Gilmore Girls Has ever been Wow Now I think

[00:12:12] Worse than the road trip Yes Because Hear me out I think this is a better episode Than the road trip episode Okay I think it leads to some really fun places Especially when Rory gets to tell off Dean Charleston Or whatever his name is Headmaster Headmaster Charleston Like there are some really great lines In this episode There's some really funny moments And there's some good pairings Make no mistake Rory's entire plot line And you will get into it I don't want to take it from you Is based on the fact that

[00:12:42] She's just being too good of a student And she's just doing what she's supposed to do Lorelai's entire plot line Is based on a She's being required To join A parent Organization That puts on events Just for parents Like I've never Like This is bottom of the barrel stuff This Like If you just tell me Those two plot lines On the surface That's like Season eight We've run out of ideas Kind of stuff And so

[00:13:12] It's to raise money For a super wealthy school Yeah That's what the booster Yeah exactly And I We'll get there There's so many wait what's here Having said that It's very contrived Very stupid Doesn't make any sense But the product of what we get I kind of liked I love Rory Speaking to Charleston And then I also love the idea That Emily That Lorelai thinks She's going to pull one over On her mom By volunteering her For something she was Volunteered for

[00:13:41] And then Emily coming And then making it all about her In the grandest of spectacles Is exactly what should have happened In that scenario Like Emily doing this thing Where they walk out together And then she starts looking like The fun one Like Is just peak Peak Emily And so For me I didn't like I don't like anything of Make it make sense Make either of these two storylines Make sense You cannot But Once you forgive that

[00:14:10] I think the episode Has some stuff in it That really really does work Whereas last week's episode Made more sense But we missed a lot of my favorite characters So that's where we stand with this one At least for me Okay Alright Fair enough Let's Let's do All the feels I love that That's where we're talking about A line That we liked

[00:14:28] And I'll start with you I pledge myself To Gilmore the Marrier To the Republic Loyal I'll always be Loyal I'll always be A G to start An area at the end A G to start An area at the end And a the Sitting in between

[00:14:58] And a the Sitting in between Now we're all pups guys We're all pups That's it We left the M out Huh A G to start An area Yeah It's funny At the M We left At M out Not if it makes sense Like this episode But I just thought It'd be fun to do together I'm officially a puff That's really cool Yeah Yeah Well we're gonna Kidnap you later Dan It's gonna be fun Good luck Yeah You're kind of big We're bringing him back up Yeah So a couple lines I really liked

[00:15:27] Rory bumps into Paris And goes Jeez You're like a pop-up book From hell That's great That was so great They must have laughed When they wrote that And then The poofs are The puffs are talking The poofs Yeah The poofs Uh huh You're like a shower Poof There it is The poof There it is Louder Drop it Um She goes It's just nepotism Which does however Make the world go round Which for them Speaking in their world view

[00:15:56] Made a lot of sense Accurate Correct Yes Yeah And if I can Just have one more Because this one's his hint And it was short She goes One of the puffs Tells Rory Relax It's just a cult And it's just great Because it summarized How it normalized The insanity At Chilton Right Like Yeah Things are ridiculous And out of place But they They fit here In a succinct Powerful line Thought that was great Right To that point And I also loved When uh Rory was like Wait Chilton has sororities

[00:16:25] And Paris very quickly Goes Only ten worth mentioning So funny So funny But So that was my My line feels But I do Chad This is for you Um We mentioned Tail end of last week's episode That fall is beginning to creep in Yes The scene where Lorelai and Rory Are walking down The streets of Stars Hollow And the fall behind them Has really come in To season And Boy Did it get me excited I am They're carrying pumpkins

[00:16:54] You smell the cinnamon broom I mean They had door Wall Doors and windows Completely wrapped In leaves It was It was a magnanimous moment A magnanimous moment Look at you Do you guys know This feels to me Like it predates Everybody really getting into And decorating for fall Like this is the precursor to it Or maybe I'm wrong I don't disagree Like when did the When did uh Like the pumpkin spice latte Came out in the late 90s If memory serves Yeah But it really began To take off We did a whole episode

[00:17:22] In the mid 2000s Really And I feel like that's when People It wasn't until The last 15 years or so That fall Has really Yes Became Became Becomes super marketable Like everybody's Putting out Fall Treats And stuff It's in Hobby Lobby already It's June Absolutely And so I did feel like What Is it really Well so are some Christmas decorations I've seen pictures Maybe you've listened to Christmas morning Oh I Yeah

[00:18:20] Like Advent tea set And I sent a picture To Brian And I bought it And this was early May So I'm with you Brian What is it like To be The weird one The weird one On the network When it comes to Christmas Yeah it feels great It feels amazing Brian I don't know what to tell you You're like Rory Eating alone right now We're all at the Christmas team Enjoy something else Just I dare you Enjoy something else I've just surrounded myself With freaks And then I've pulled Dad into the orbit And forced him to live

[00:18:50] Enjoy something else I'll enjoy Christmas For six weeks It'll be amazing Enjoy something else We enjoy Expand your horizons I had two If you don't mind Brian Number one After that I don't know But yes Number one They work in a reference To the Divine Secrets Of the Yaya Sisterhood Which was a novel But it was also a movie With Sandra Bullock And Ellen Burstyn And James Garner I remember the name Yeah The movie wasn't out yet Oh When they make this reference The movie doesn't come out

[00:19:19] For eight more months Which means They either knew It was coming out Or they referenced A novel that no one Would get unless They had read the novel What a move by them In 2001 Really cool But my other one is And this may be One of my favorite lines Of the series Not because it's clever But because The payoff is really big The Booster Club Is all sitting there And they're talking About an event They did that went wrong And then someone said By the time we paid To have everyone's Stomachs pumped

[00:19:48] We couldn't even afford The new bleachers What happened What happened You just said Everyone had to get Their stomachs Medically pumped What happened What happened At this event That's a lot of poisoning A lot Yeah And I would love To hear what happens I feel like all the Boosters should have Lost their booster You can't do another Event after that Everyone You shouldn't be able To boost anymore

[00:20:17] Yeah right Sheesh Man That's a fun one That was great It was even great That one lady Didn't know her Stepdaughter's name She kept getting them wrong There were a lot Of funny things In this one It would be as if You know She has this event At the end And the stage Actually does fall Apart And they all trip over And they all Like everybody's injured Lorelai would not Be invited back To the boosters No If that happened No But the event Were all the kids Remember when we had Everyone got sick Almost to death Yeah If your stomach's

[00:22:45] Or episode I don't know Chad What Yeah Christmas on the brain Chad So I touched on this earlier The Puffs are this super powerful group For decades now Sandra Day O'Connor was a member And for their ceremony They just break into the headmaster's office And then they actually get in trouble Even though they're so powerful And headmaster Charleston Has no idea that this group exists I gotta be Listen

[00:23:15] So this group You're right Everything you said is right And I'm just gonna yes hand it Okay The Puffs do this initiation every time They've been around for a hundred Is that what they say This is the initiation they do Yeah And it has to be in that office Wow They've been doing it for a hundred years Right They don't destroy any property The headmaster has to know that they do it I mean they have keys How First of all A How'd they never gotten caught before And B Why does he care He has to know this is a thing

[00:23:45] Captain Right There could be anything less daring Or shady than what they're doing Yeah It's so stupid Like I was really I'm surprised I made it to air How silly that was That was like When I was principal at high school They wanted to do a senior prank And everybody's like We gotta be on guard to stop them And I just called the seniors in And I'm like When you wanna do this thing I'll let you in Like just let's figure it out together Like Just let them do the thing I don't get it Right They were literally doing nothing They weren't doing anything

[00:24:14] You would never They're dinging a bell Like just let them do their thing Dang Right Yeah Yeah Well that's it So let's raise our right hands again I pledge myself No No I pledge myself With an airier At the end Anything else And a dime between Noah That was so dumb That really shocked Out of all the things so far in the episode That was the silliest to me Completely undermined the fact That they were a powerful group That's all They do it every time But this particular headmaster's upset It's a hundred year It's older than him This tradition

[00:24:44] Yeah Right I do want to take us back To the beginning of this episode Where they're having a It's not important at all But this conversation about Lorelei's car battery being Kurt gets a chance Kurt gets a chance And he does You're right Kurt gets a chance But Lorelei's like How does this happen And Rory lists off I'm sorry Rory lists off You said Lorelei And that was the thing Lorelei Is like How does this happen And Rory

[00:25:12] Which honestly is a pretty good nickname For her Lorelei Because her name is Lorelei Is like Well let me list off a list of things That you've done before Which is like Leaving the door open Leaving the lights on And then one of them is Leaving the radio on all night What is she doing What is Lorelei doing I know that they like to do this thing On this show Where Rory's the responsible one And Lorelei is irresponsible What is she doing with her car

[00:25:42] She shouldn't own a car No These are crazy things Like I can see maybe Leaving your door open Maybe I don't know how I don't know how But leaving the radio on all night Yeah Is a choice I have a car now That doesn't have an on off button Or key entry It just is It's electric So you just get in And shift it in the gear And when I drive my wife's car Did you drive to the Debbie Tumpall In the car Or when I drive my wife's car I will routinely forget

[00:26:11] To turn it off Okay Because I'm so used now To a car that doesn't You just hit the park button And you get out of the car And it turns off So But that didn't That's not an excuse For Lorelei I still think radio on Is better than door open But not by much Yeah But Lorelei probably grew up With a driver So she's not You know She's different That's true Okay So let's get to this They call her The guidance counselor Calls her And explains That she's a loner Explains that she has to

[00:26:41] Start making headway Or else they're like Not going to recommend Her to colleges Which is crazy And the guidance counselor Says universities Don't take kindly To loners So stupid What are you talking about This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard First of all Does the check clear Yeah No But also Like this idea That this girl Who already has added Extra curriculars To her place Correct Because she wasn't aware

[00:27:11] We already had that episode We already had it So you can't say This is extra curriculars She has the grades She has When we find out That she somehow Went from Not passing To being the second Best in the class We know that She's added The extracurriculars Which is something That the schools The school wouldn't A college would not care Not even a little bit A college would not be like I see here on your record You've got straight A's You are On the newspaper

[00:27:40] You're doing community service You're doing great work But also You I heard that you didn't Really play nice With your friends It seems here That for 30 minutes Out of your day Instead of talking You read You read literature Yeah Can I tell you That's for us Get out of here Forget the college Like If you run a school And you have students That are incredibly smart Stick up for themselves And are confident Being by themselves You don't say a thing

[00:28:10] Right You don't touch a thing You just act like Like That is your doing Yeah And if you're That is a dream scenario And if you're on lunch duty You're like Why can't you all be like Rory That's exactly right And just read a book And shut up for a second We gotta stir the pot Peace and quiet We gotta stir the pot Rory's being too good Yeah Yeah This is one of the dumb Like the biggest logical leap We had to make Maybe in the show's history But it might be a filler Episode where they needed time To write Jess's storyline

[00:28:40] Because they expected Tristan to be back I don't know Because we don't see Jess at all It's so very clear And what's going on They are just Tristan-less Shout out to the new character Of Guidance Council Well Chad's not around We miss him Whether it's in Stars Hollow Or in person In studio It's the thing The Chad's are missed My last one is I did get a kick out of After the fashion show They sit down They're talking about How great it is And then they're like Who picked that music? Girls just want to have fun It was perfect

[00:29:09] What was the original plan For the music? Like girls just want to have fun For a fashion show Is a slam dunk What did they What were they going to do? We got a lot of play The compliments on that For a music choice That was pretty much Yeah Guaranteed That in my mind Would probably be The first and only Recommendation of a song For that situation Of the mom's fashion show So I did find that funny Dano?

[00:29:39] And maybe it was Time after time That would have been A very different catwalk Right I'll stick with that Since you finished with it Okay I just want to be Very clear here This is a booster club For a school Of all millionaires So they don't What are they raising money for? We don't know Right Who have an event That doesn't involve The children at all Where the moms model And they don't have

[00:30:08] A space for that event And the event Itself lasts two minutes That is what happened In this episode That was the entirety Of the catwalk They brought in Poor Luke Levels the catwalk For half of Cindy Lauper's Girls just want To have fun For a booster club That needs no money For an event That doesn't involve The kids at the school At all If it wasn't for How dumb The Rory plotline was

[00:30:38] This would have been Headline news I also want to Point out That anti-social Rory Has done a group Project with at least Three other girls Has been Like has kissed A boy That went to school At Chilton And is consistently Talking with Paris And also Works for the Newspaper She spends her time With at least Seven other students On the newspaper Staff Not including the girls She had the group Project with

[00:31:07] Not including Tristan She is more Than adequately social And you know what Is kind of important For a journalist Talking to people So stupid It makes me angry How dumb the episode is She's writing articles Yeah That involve Talking to people Yeah Right She literally just came out At the debutante ball A week ago And now they're telling her She's not in society I mean what's going on Give her a chance To breathe As a newly Maybe that's proof That no other

[00:31:36] Chilton kids Were at the debutante ball Because they were Unaware of it And last but not least I have to do this Or I have to turn in My southern card When Lorelai and Rory Go to Emily and Richard's house And the house Worker meets them At the door And says They're barbecuing Out back I just wrote down Narrator They were in fact Not barbecuing We need to make This very clear You were grilling A grill is not A barbecue Please stop With this
