[00:00:01] Hi, I'm Brian and I love

[00:00:05] Hallmark Mysteries from 2016

[00:00:07] I'm Brian. I like Hallmark Mysteries from 2016. I'm Dan. I despise Hallmark Mysteries from any year and this is the Deck The Hallmark Podcast

[00:00:15] Deck The Hallmark is his podcast. Brandon and Friend host his podcast. We hope you like this jolly podcast.

[00:00:33] Wow, hello everybody. I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day

[00:00:41] Yeah

[00:00:42] Fireworks grilling out. Yep. You were at the beach. I was at the beach. Yeah, and I came back just for this just for this

[00:00:49] Yeah different beach from Beach we can't beach together

[00:00:52] It's too much. We talked about it. We couldn't possibly come together to beach separately separate beaches

[00:01:00] You know why it's a good idea is because does your your wife and kids love the the ocean and the sand

[00:01:07] My kids are not as high on it Caitlin Caitlin loves

[00:01:12] Sarah the boys love the sand and the beach

[00:01:15] Movies I

[00:01:16] Tolerate the scene that I go down there and I have like a 90 minute timer where I'm like I do it and then I go

[00:01:22] Back in or I go to the pool and I eat something drink something go air-conditioned then I'll go back out

[00:01:28] Sarah the boys could literally stay out there for eight straight hours. I

[00:01:32] Just my kids fancy the pool more than the beach, but

[00:01:37] But maybe if they were with your boys, yeah different story

[00:01:41] Weird we just become derelict parents on vacation. We just go to the

[00:01:49] We looked at the schedule and we said we could review Big Sky River again

[00:01:57] Made its Hallmark Channel debut everybody. Yeah, I did that thing where they take a movie and they say

[00:02:04] Yeah, it's not it's a trick it's true

[00:02:07] I did have a mini panic attack that there was a third Big Sky River that would have been more than a tech for me

[00:02:12] But we also had Aaron Shay who has been working for us for 15 16 17 months something in that

[00:02:19] Regard and she has not stopped talking about the Haley be mysteries

[00:02:22] And I think I think I was talking to Viv about it. Yes that really yeah

[00:02:27] And that she'd finally started to calm down

[00:02:30] About it

[00:02:34] Mysteries and she said it a bunch and so here we are here we are we're finally doing it

[00:02:39] It is on the the Hallmark movies now app

[00:02:43] Which is where we we watch it if you are like us and missed it back in 2016

[00:02:48] You can go to the best app on the in the I hate that

[00:02:51] The worst I hate that up. You know what up? I love though Philo. Yeah, I

[00:02:56] Might be the perfect app yeah

[00:02:59] Unlimited DVR

[00:03:00] 3000 plus title we're on it. We're on it. Take the Hallmark Channel. Yep

[00:03:06] DTA a lot of fun. It's a lot of fun Brian. What'd you do for Memorial Day, bud?

[00:03:11] memorialize things

[00:03:13] So Brian hates the troops that's what else though. Let's skip past that yeah, and what else did you do?

[00:03:18] Yeah, I went for a walk outside

[00:03:25] Memorialized breakfast wrote that down. I'll never forget

[00:03:31] Breakfast is dead now

[00:03:32] Well, yeah that breakfast have you heard of Dan? Have you heard about breakfast dude? I heard a rumor

[00:03:39] It's gonna be what I heard you know hell. I know yes. This is it

[00:03:43] Yeah, so hell bad enough as is yeah like weeping gnashing of teeth fire everywhere not fun

[00:03:49] I heard this is what I heard this is I can't believe I got this information

[00:03:53] Say did you get from Tony to time? Yeah?

[00:03:57] They don't serve breakfast in hell no that's unbelievable it's the least they could do

[00:04:05] Yeah, throw me a throw anything on fire something

[00:04:09] Solid lunches solid lunches and dinners there. They don't serve breakfast. They don't serve breakfast

[00:04:13] And so that's tough unbelievable so get it in while you can try up here

[00:04:18] Up here. Oh, I got it for you down there. That's right

[00:04:23] Talk about Hayley said he hates the troops and told everybody to go to hell. That's what that's what happened on this

[00:04:30] Suggestions you don't have to go back the sugar man such a baby

[00:04:34] Do you want to tell people for those at home that love breakfast by newsboys?

[00:04:40] You want to tell people what you learned about breakfast not too long ago. That's kind of ruined the song for you

[00:04:45] Yeah, I do it ruined the song and it has made me ruminate on a podcast idea

[00:04:50] And I can't stop thinking about this podcast Israel

[00:04:52] Yeah, that is but I'm not gonna tell you about the podcast idea right now. I've had too many things stolen from us. Yes

[00:04:59] Yeah, the the song breakfast which is a song by newsboys a classic if you grew up in the CCM world in the 1990s

[00:05:07] Was that 91 about yes it no it's way later than it's like 90 probably six would be my guess really yeah

[00:05:12] Yeah, that was on the take me to your leader album

[00:05:14] Series

[00:05:16] Yes, so the song breakfast is a memorialized song where they there's a guy they all knew Memorial Day

[00:05:25] That that died and he 96. Yeah before he died

[00:05:30] He would hosted a breakfast club every Monday morning

[00:05:35] Not that breakfast club and they would get together and they would they would eat breakfast and that was their whole thing

[00:05:40] And he would always say when the toast is burnt and all the milk has turned and Captain Crunch is waving farewell

[00:05:46] When the big one finds you may this song remind you that they don't serve breakfast in hell, right?

[00:05:52] That's the course of the song and throughout this song

[00:05:54] They really like by the end of the song the song so catchy

[00:05:57] But then you realize this guy what a better way to memorialize this guy than this song

[00:06:02] You're like man. This guy must have been the best dude ever. Well, we looked it up guys not real guys

[00:06:08] Fake song made up just for

[00:06:12] Christian music. Yeah, they decided wouldn't it be funny if there was a guy that said this?

[00:06:19] Let's write a song about it. There is no guy. There is no dude who did this and

[00:06:26] It's it's almost like my childhood was a lie, you know what I mean?

[00:06:29] Like I just I call this time you thought that there was a real person the last the last verse of that

[00:06:35] Song is pretty powerful and it's like those of you without the Lord. How do you cope for this morning?

[00:06:41] We don't mourn like those who have no that's right

[00:06:43] Like we're not mourning because our buddy's dead, but we don't have to worry about it

[00:06:47] But we remember like remember we remember great things

[00:06:51] What I want my kids to me is remember right having a slew of breakfast up in heaven

[00:06:56] It turns out he's not cuz he's not real

[00:06:59] He's not real

[00:07:02] Breakfast the song is a lie. This voice is a lie. You heard it here first and deck the hallmark

[00:07:08] Gives me an idea for a podcast

[00:07:11] I can't stop thinking about but I'm not gonna talk about it. Haley Dean mystery

[00:07:16] murder with love

[00:07:18] Originally premiered on what was then called Hallmark movies and mysteries. Yeah, we don't talk about it on October 23rd

[00:07:27] I'm sorry. Yep

[00:07:28] 2016 2016

[00:07:31] You have the theater where they first

[00:07:33] yeah, they did it at the

[00:07:36] Paramount if you can believe it and it went a little something like this

[00:07:39] This woman named Amanda arrives home talking on the phone. It's nighttime. She just got done with a long shift of nursing

[00:07:48] But she opts not to turn on any lights. Why would you why would you turn on any lights?

[00:07:52] It's just fun when it's all dark seas. She sees some water leaking from upstairs. So she runs upstairs and she discovers her mom

[00:07:59] Drowned

[00:08:01] Yeah, there's pills spilled out to the side and she is dead in the tub on her side. Yes. Yes

[00:08:09] Cut to Haley Dean

[00:08:11] She's at a party telling a funny story

[00:08:14] Holding the room kind of like Brian when Brian holds court. Oh my gosh, it's amazing

[00:08:20] They're loving it. She accidentally though spills a drink on some guy named Jonas

[00:08:25] He offers to buy her another drink

[00:08:29] And so they end up talking and she explains how she used to be a prosecutor

[00:08:32] But now she's a therapist and she sees the TV and she's like turn that up Jonas before you talk too much

[00:08:39] I want to hear what's on this TV and it is a report about Amanda's mom being found dead

[00:08:45] She was a doctor and Haley knew her and actually Amanda is one of her one of her patients

[00:08:51] As a therapist and so she runs to see if she can go and talk to Amanda

[00:08:56] the family is all shocked that this happened and

[00:09:00] the mom's husband Dewey

[00:09:03] Suspects that there might be something more to this story the next day. She gets a call from her friend Danny and

[00:09:10] Danny is

[00:09:12] No, well, we don't know that I don't know a lot about Danny. I don't know a lot about Danny

[00:09:17] and

[00:09:19] Tells her hey, you're gonna want to come see this

[00:09:21] There's been a big crash and the old bridge there

[00:09:23] So apparently a car flew off the bridge and blew up and this there's nothing left

[00:09:29] This car has just been smoked to smithereens

[00:09:33] and the car belonged to

[00:09:36] Dewey the dad daddy Dewey Dewey Decimal System. That's exactly he made that if you can believe it did

[00:09:42] Yeah, he came up with it. Everybody talks all big about how amazing the Dewey Decimal System is but like

[00:09:48] Is it yeah, okay. Yeah

[00:09:52] Why is it's predictable?

[00:09:54] It's overrated a good system. We don't need a system

[00:09:58] Good to have a system. I walk in there. I see

[00:10:02] 709 point five four know right where to go. I do I that's a bit that's reliant on how how organ like you got my

[00:10:09] Kids running around the library moving things around

[00:10:12] You know what the years to somebody went to the library that you know what this means decimals

[00:10:16] Yeah, we need to get away from whole numbers and we need to get into the decimal. That's how the

[00:10:22] You're building a moat around your institution. You need librarians very important. We love the libraries around here

[00:10:28] So since Haley is invested in this case, she starts poking around

[00:10:33] She watches the interviews with the family that are done by Danny and the team and she goes to the hospital where?

[00:10:41] Amanda and her mom are working to see if she can see anything suspicious on these security tapes and boy does she

[00:10:48] She does see something suspicious. In fact

[00:10:51] the

[00:10:52] she discovers that instead of

[00:10:56] The mom

[00:10:57] prescribing her own medicine

[00:10:59] We see we see Amanda Cindy Busby going on using her mom's login and doing something suspicious

[00:11:06] so they committing

[00:11:08] Medical crime so they interview her and she comes clean that her mom wasn't sleeping

[00:11:14] But wouldn't get the help that she needs so she prescribed

[00:11:17] She was like if I prescribe them for her then maybe she'll go ahead and take them, but she can't do that

[00:11:22] She's a nurse. So she used her mom's login to do that and they say all right

[00:11:28] Nothing more to do. We don't need to respond for anything. That's fine

[00:11:31] The team is working on a theory that early days the medical software records the electronic health records the

[00:11:38] Decimal system 2016 is pretty modern

[00:11:41] The team is looking into a theory that the kids killed the parents for money

[00:11:48] But Haley pops in and says there's no money all the money's gone

[00:11:54] That's tough. So they keep digging and they figure out that the car explosion had white flames

[00:12:01] Which can only mean one thing

[00:12:04] Special stuff is special stuff that was in the car

[00:12:09] Causes it to burn hot hot and also white flames

[00:12:13] And so what's going on there? So

[00:12:16] Haley keeps digging as she does and she finds out that one there's surveillance footage showing one of Dewey's employees

[00:12:24] Employees stealing some stuff some of that stuff and to that person's missing

[00:12:30] Don't know where that person is. So while this is happening Haley keeps bumping into Jonas remember Jonas from the beginning

[00:12:37] He's the coroner and the sparks are flying anytime. They gather the sparks are just flying white tiger sparks white tiger sparks

[00:12:45] What does that mean?

[00:12:49] Yeah, you know white white flames, okay white tiger

[00:12:53] Dan said white tiger a few minutes ago

[00:12:55] The white white heat white flames can only mean one thing white tiger white tiger inside

[00:13:00] Yeah, you were you listening at all? I didn't white tiger sparks. Just keep up Haley goes back to the crash scene

[00:13:07] Oh real day white tiger sparks goes through back to the crash scene to see if she can find anything

[00:13:12] with

[00:13:13] With old Viv Leacock over there

[00:13:15] They're used in metal detectors and went on to see if there's anything that was blown like further away from the crash site that maybe

[00:13:21] They missed initially and they do in fact, they find a long metal

[00:13:26] Bar that is barely like chart. This thing is in great shape

[00:13:31] How could it have come from the crash?

[00:13:33] We don't know but we're gonna take it in and we're gonna have a look-see at that

[00:13:37] We also find out that the FBI has actually been looking into Dewey's company for smuggling stuff across the border

[00:13:43] So that's not good

[00:13:44] But they assume that it's not couldn't have been Dewey that was doing that

[00:13:48] It's probably the guy that they suspect was stealing that stuff

[00:13:52] Badden-Krepper, what do you steal proper?

[00:13:54] You still you still you steal a couple of buckets you steal a couple buckets of the good stuff

[00:14:01] You're also probably smuggling stuff. Absolutely

[00:14:04] So Haley's home and she gets a call from the forensics guy and he's like hey that bar is

[00:14:11] titanium

[00:14:14] And I don't remember the song but there is a song

[00:14:21] What is it yeah Aaron come on help me out here

[00:14:33] There's we're be yeah Brian and I are being punked yeah

[00:14:43] Titanium

[00:14:57] There it is I turn off we're gonna get flagged

[00:15:13] See

[00:15:18] I was right

[00:15:20] Don't feel it's titanium. That's proof. That's what I'm trying to say and so

[00:15:25] That can only mean one thing that bar is and was in someone's knee knee

[00:15:30] It's a it's a way you couldn't that bars way too big to be in someone's knee

[00:15:34] It could be along the side of their leg right like a splint for the leg like I had when I got in a car accident

[00:15:40] But she is like there's only one problem here is Dewey

[00:15:46] Do we didn't have that?

[00:15:48] Do we didn't have that at all and it's at this point that somebody

[00:15:51] Puts a gun to her head throws her phone down stomps on it, and it is do the Macarena do I?

[00:15:59] do we do we

[00:16:02] Do we done did it is what we're trying to say and so do we then puts a gun to her head throws her in the car?

[00:16:08] And it's like I would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for you meddling kids

[00:16:12] Here's the plan kiddo. We're gonna go and hop on a plane to LAX

[00:16:16] We're dreaming a card again, and we're gonna go over somewhere

[00:16:20] And then I'll send you back as once I get my getaway, but I can't have you telling people what happened first class of course

[00:16:26] But they don't get very far because the police

[00:16:28] Have put up a little stopper in the and the said you can't go any further

[00:16:33] He takes her out and is holding her hostage, and he's like just let me go and I'll let her go

[00:16:38] They do not and luckily Haley knows how to do

[00:16:42] And like hit some and the gun goes flying and all that good stuff. He's arrested

[00:16:47] basically from what I understand

[00:16:50] his wife

[00:16:51] Found out that he was smuggling some stuff

[00:16:54] And so he had to make sure that she wouldn't tell and so she killed he killed her

[00:16:58] and then he wanted to make it look like

[00:17:01] he

[00:17:03] Died and so he knew that the guy that was in that surveillance video

[00:17:08] Kind of looks like him if he has a beard and so he did this whole thing and made it look like

[00:17:13] That guy was a bad guy, but it was actually just him the whole time

[00:17:17] Anyway, they got him and he's he's arrested and then she goes and she talks to

[00:17:23] Jonas and they end up kissing

[00:17:25] Where was that in mystery 101 that took years?

[00:17:28] But here we are we got Jonas and Haley with a kiss and then Danny gets his special hat

[00:17:42] We did it let's take a quick break. We'll come back and we'll break this movie down here on deck the hallmark

[00:17:49] That's really good

[00:17:53] Know the titanium song

[00:18:01] Afraid not. Yeah still feel like

[00:18:04] Yeah, Dan and I sang it pretty good. Yeah the fire away thing did

[00:18:11] Actually if you had asked me if titanium was in that song I would have said no that's how often I'm listening

[00:18:17] It's time to break down Haley Dean then the uno

[00:18:21] Let's start with a hot take let's share our thoughts on this movie from 2016 that people have been

[00:18:26] Just they're on the edge of their seat like did they like this movie from 2016? Let's find out

[00:18:31] Brian, what'd you think Haley Dean?

[00:18:33] Yeah, I thought this this was a long way to go to get away from the name Dewey first of all

[00:18:38] Yes, you had to steal the identity killing people off leaving the country just to change your name from Dewey

[00:18:46] It's a lot, but I guess this is you know eight years ago weren't a lot of options I guess

[00:18:52] No, no medical records weren't where they are now, right? Right, but I thought like this was an intriguing mystery

[00:18:59] It was not super predictable

[00:19:01] but a little bit predictable in a way that where it didn't annoy me like I I

[00:19:05] Guess that it was either the brother or the dad and so you didn't guess it you guessed that it was one of two

[00:19:11] Right, right. So yeah, I didn't I didn't have a solid guess there

[00:19:14] I wasn't convinced but I had a feeling my worry was that they were gonna introduce somebody last minute and it was gonna be a

[00:19:19] Random killer and they did I would be the worst? Yes

[00:19:22] So I'm glad they stuck to one of these

[00:19:25] Somebody in the show who's actually on the screen and it was sort of a predictable thing if you were following along

[00:19:32] That part of it was I thought was really good

[00:19:34] They said they did surprise me with a lot of stuff throughout here

[00:19:37] It felt kind of like slow at point like they were taking their time

[00:19:40] Which was actually kind of nice because it didn't feel like you're just being thrown all this information all the plot shoutout Anderson, South Carolina

[00:19:47] Yeah made it into this one. Shout out and

[00:19:51] jockey lot

[00:19:53] So it's very have you never heard of the Anderson jockey lot? No, look it up. Look it up sometime

[00:19:58] It is a it is an experience not safe for work. I've never heard of it. Oh boy, really?

[00:20:03] What a time to be alive guys

[00:20:04] So, yeah, I like shoehorning the therapy stuff in like I'm afraid

[00:20:08] Like peaks and that if I do my peaks and valleys my valley here

[00:20:12] Is there gonna shoehorn in therapy sessions throughout this series never had a peaks and valleys segment on anything we've ever done

[00:20:19] Okay, never

[00:20:22] First time anyone has brought up peaks and valleys peaks. Same thing hopes and valleys peaks and valleys

[00:20:28] He's trying to go to what you said peaks and valleys like can I jump in on this?

[00:20:32] Like we're in the water and it's fine

[00:20:34] We don't know anything about what you're saying, you know all about this

[00:20:38] He's had it out for Jack's for a long time. He wants to win cause the hearts episode. She does great

[00:20:43] I could not even attempt so

[00:20:46] well

[00:20:47] Nobody's we don't have those clips. I don't think so

[00:20:49] We don't have to worry about that so that the the shoehorning in of the therapy part

[00:20:54] I don't like and I'm afraid they're gonna keep doing this to show her therapy chops and

[00:20:58] I that took me out of it a little bit, but the mystery is solid like really well done. I thought

[00:21:05] Yeah, I liked it a good bit. I

[00:21:07] They did a great job to your point of not like a lot of these mysteries are oftentimes. Here's here's information

[00:21:13] Here's some more information. Oh, here's some more and it's just like constantly explaining what's happening

[00:21:19] and I thought they did a really good job throughout this movie of

[00:21:22] Not over explaining things like I have questions about

[00:21:27] Like her relationship with Danny that's an interesting relationship

[00:21:32] She has like all these different relationships. They don't really we don't get all the backstory on these relationships

[00:21:37] They're holding some clothes stuff close to the vest. Go ahead. What what's confusing about her relationship with Danny?

[00:21:43] I just thought I saw some chemistry there. She was engaged to his brother. Okay, and so they're like family, okay

[00:21:51] Yeah, I just thought there was some chemistry there. Also, you're confused. Do you think it could be romantic? Yeah, okay

[00:21:56] Yeah, I'm not sure. I didn't know if it could be like I don't understand why their friends. No. No, I yeah

[00:22:00] Yeah, you know

[00:22:02] Danny's adoptive we got that information. No, I just felt you know

[00:22:05] There's that and then there's the Jonas guy and what's what's what's his story?

[00:22:09] And we get you know

[00:22:11] Some some scenes with Viv but not a ton and so they're like they've set a lot of

[00:22:15] Characters up and we still you know have much to learn about the world in which Haley is is living in and so

[00:22:21] I'm intrigued by these characters intrigued by the series and maybe we'll do another one next year. Yeah, I

[00:22:28] I would say this isn't bad

[00:22:29] I think it does avoid a lot of the pitfalls of the mystery movies particularly from that decade

[00:22:37] It doesn't have there's a few plot dumps here and there but not many

[00:22:41] It doesn't have just a string of characters who walk on screen

[00:22:44] Explain exactly why they're there and why maybe they could be the killer

[00:22:48] It also seems that like I guess it's based on a book

[00:22:52] But whomever wrote this script went to great detail probably watched a lot of CSI to come up with an actual

[00:22:59] Murder, that would be hard to solve the incineration allowing you to not get enough

[00:23:05] DNA and that way you can hide who's actually dead in there. I think all of that is really really good

[00:23:11] I also like the fact that this is a competent lead who isn't just there by happenstance

[00:23:17] I appreciate it's not a baker or a teacher or a someone in another profession

[00:23:22] Who's just got a nose for crime and and and she's around and and they just let but she bothers people until they let her

[00:23:29] This is someone who worked for the district attorney's office. She knows crime. She understands it. She's in the mindset of it

[00:23:36] I liked all those things

[00:23:37] Yeah, it's a little plotting I think that they're setting up a world and an actual wheel here and that's fun

[00:23:44] I don't trust the guy that she's with at all. I don't know if that's gonna come back

[00:23:48] I think he's got a murderer's face Jonas. Yeah, I just don't trust you. I mean, that's a corner though

[00:23:53] Yeah, but he I think that comes in

[00:23:56] Crazy eyes. Have you ever met a corner that you trust? I don't know if I've ever met a coroner

[00:24:01] Yeah, you know, I would know him if I saw him. Yeah, sometimes I see people and I play a game

[00:24:05] I had corner or murder and it's usually both. It's usually both. Yeah, and then lastly I didn't know a corner out there

[00:24:12] I'm sorry, I didn't probably go to all the corners. We think you're murder

[00:24:17] I I didn't know who did it. So that was nice. That was a nice and the mystery seemed to

[00:24:24] Take like it didn't seem

[00:24:26] Happenstance now I do question his motivation a little bit but yeah how he pulled the murder off

[00:24:32] It pretty like pretty impressive pretty airtight and I think that is unusual for these movies as well

[00:24:38] So yeah, all in all better than average for these movies better than average

[00:24:42] Just time for all the fields. We're talking about what in this movie gave us those feels

[00:24:47] Brian, yeah, I got a little scary feels

[00:24:51] Yep, when when he when do we grab the phone from her in her apartment or house there?

[00:24:56] I think I audibly gasped. I was like, whoa

[00:25:00] I kind of knew it was coming but it was just done like really well and it was a little scary

[00:25:04] So I feel like for you got that audio

[00:25:08] Hey put the phone down

[00:25:10] Wow

[00:25:12] You were reenacting it if you're watching on file you were reenacting it for the camera, which is fantastic. Yeah, I come fully

[00:25:19] Unbelievable. Yeah, yeah, it's titanium

[00:25:22] so that

[00:25:25] In a mystery movie that feels I think it says a lot that it actually audibly

[00:25:32] Gasped me it ought to be

[00:25:37] It's a coroner's face I

[00:25:40] Agree, Dan. I do think this Jonas guy is shady do and but we did get a kiss in a movie one of a mystery

[00:25:48] series, so

[00:25:50] And if Jonas is a killer that means that who we have here is not maybe who she will end up with down the road and

[00:25:57] So also entry, you know, I a lot of these it's like what we're setting it up unless somebody

[00:26:03] You know leaves and goes to another network or something

[00:26:06] Typically they introduce the two people and then they're a slow burn for a while

[00:26:10] And so I'm intrigued to see what happens here, but we got a kiss

[00:26:13] We got a kiss is always not it's not a promise here and the first one of these mysteries. So I'm happy Dan

[00:26:19] Yeah, that was mine too. Which was the the fact that they escalate the leads relationship in the first episode of a mystery

[00:26:26] Wheel was impressive. However, I

[00:26:28] Don't trust this guy at all

[00:26:30] I think if it would almost be worse if he was a bad guy because I think they've telegraphed that I think I hope that

[00:26:35] He's a good dude and that they have a relationship or he doesn't have any skeletons in his closet, but

[00:26:42] Literally

[00:26:44] If you wanted a skeleton, you're gonna get one once again the corner

[00:26:48] Slander here by you. Yes. That's true though. Wow, you're saying it's just fact. It's just fact if they want

[00:26:55] There's not many people corners do they do you think they remove all the muscle fat and everything?

[00:27:01] They do work with dead bodies. And so they're in that space great

[00:27:06] So I imagine if there was a person who could find an actual skeleton, they'd know who to call

[00:27:11] That's all I'm saying. That's all I'm saying there. They were they're all in the same circle

[00:27:15] There's some corners you would say it might be good people

[00:27:19] That's never been

[00:27:32] Chef a corner is a notary forget

[00:27:36] Believe you basically put yourself in jail. Yeah, it's time for wait

[00:27:41] What is we're talking about one this movie just go wait what Brian anything stick out to you just a few things

[00:27:46] When her dad showed up to her house in the morning

[00:27:51] Haley Dean's dad. He asked if she how she wanted her eggs and she said scrambled and then fried

[00:27:57] Like rambled and then fries. Yeah, and then she would she said scrambled then fried and made by me like basically don't touch my eggs

[00:28:05] Scrambled and fried eggs. I've never heard of that ever in my life. That's it's just like burnt scrambled eggs

[00:28:10] Yeah, you just keep them in the pan. Yeah

[00:28:12] Yeah, I don't understand I don't know that's just a weird yeah, I know maybe she just meant like I'll scramble them and then

[00:28:21] Maybe fry is

[00:28:24] Synonymous here. We're just cooking. Maybe maybe she wants one egg fried. Okay, and one egg scream, baby

[00:28:30] scrambled and fried one of each yeah, it makes sense, but

[00:28:34] Just threw me off

[00:28:36] They took 11 million dollars and then eight million dollars from the bank account

[00:28:42] One each like you just don't keep

[00:28:46] 19 million dollars in one bank

[00:28:48] Like there would be all these accounts

[00:28:50] There is no one in I can't imagine there being someone in the world that has nineteen hundred nineteen million dollars in checking

[00:28:57] No in checking. No, I don't even think a bank would allow no no

[00:29:01] It's only in short to up to 250 thousand target on our back spread this out

[00:29:05] Yeah

[00:29:05] So you just it's just very unrealistic the fact that oh eight million dollars is just gone from the accounts like

[00:29:12] There's the account. It's just not happening. Yeah, no one's a bigger proponent for spreading out spread your

[00:29:20] One of us that would know how to diversify you gotta put it all over the place how many bank accounts do you have?

[00:29:26] He's not gonna tell you because he wants to keep a few

[00:29:29] He says I have a few in America or all over the world or offshore

[00:29:34] I said a few

[00:29:38] Good luck taking anything from and then this was this was

[00:29:44] Feel like this movie was just brought to us by the Tourism Board of Brazil. Yes. He just non-stop

[00:29:50] We're going to Brazil, which has over 4,000 miles of beaches

[00:29:55] I'm going to Brazil where the culture is vibrant the scenic views in Brazil are unmatched around the world

[00:30:02] Beautiful Brazil. They let me

[00:30:05] Carnival is three days. We will not be late to Brazil culture is phenomenal in Brazil

[00:30:11] The weather is great, and I'm sure I'd be the only person there who's ever committed a crime

[00:30:16] Yeah

[00:30:18] It's not a safe haven at all

[00:30:20] So yeah, it just kept it was so crystal clear about going to Brazil telling everybody where he wanted to go

[00:30:25] So that was just like why are we why are we doing that? So that's where that's all I had

[00:30:31] I only have a couple as well one, you know

[00:30:36] She walks in her mom's dead. That's tough, you know and

[00:30:40] You know you get you get a little question here and there and then her

[00:30:46] She heard brother or something oh no

[00:30:49] Haley is like you want to come do you got a place to stay tonight?

[00:30:51] She's like I'm just gonna stay here

[00:30:52] And I just wouldn't like if I walked in and found my mom dead in that house

[00:30:58] I would go stay somewhere else. I would maybe stay at a hotel. It's just it's creepy. It's spooky. It's weird

[00:31:03] I don't know

[00:31:04] I just sit on my mom every time I'm gonna walk walk around and just be like this where mom used to be

[00:31:08] I'd be real sad. I think I would go somewhere else person. I think I would go somewhere else

[00:31:13] At the funeral this might have been the tell that he was the killer cuz Dewey says

[00:31:18] about his late wife she was the best person I've ever met and

[00:31:23] Probably ever will so keeping the options open. Yeah, there's a chance

[00:31:29] I don't want to close the door there now that you know, she's finally did now that she's finally dead

[00:31:34] I could find someone better. I've got some good years left. I could find someone that's better

[00:31:41] Women in Brazil aren't of all

[00:31:43] In the movie Rio, I probably am gonna find someone better

[00:31:49] In Brazil or around I just he was very like my options open here

[00:31:55] There could be a better woman than this woman in the box over there Dan. Oh, yeah

[00:32:00] The big thing that was the hurdle for me in this movie is Cindy Busby's character who is a nurse

[00:32:05] they have video evidence of her logging into her mom's account and

[00:32:10] Prescribing herself sleep medicine and they interview her she comes clean about it. And then that's fine. That's fine

[00:32:17] That's medical. There's so much malpractice that just happened in that scene and they don't blink an eye

[00:32:23] It's like you seem like a nice person. This is maybe what's wrong with the police. That's an actual crime guys

[00:32:30] That's an actual crime that needs to be addressed. You probably need to have some charges brought against you

[00:32:36] Maybe an arrest maybe be read your rights, but you did cry because your mom's dead

[00:32:41] So we're just gonna be like cool cool cool cool

[00:32:43] You did log into your mom doctor's account and prescribe herself some sleep medicine nothing below board there

[00:32:51] Let's move along. Um, the intentions were good. The intentions were great and that's what matters. That's right. We always ask people

[00:32:57] Yeah when they get your intent, yes

[00:33:01] We find out they say Decatur early in this movie and in my head

[00:33:05] I just assumed it was like Decatur, Illinois or Minnesota or somewhere near Canada. We find out that it is Decatur, Georgia outside of Atlanta

[00:33:13] None of these people have ever seen a chicken none of these people have ever seen Atlanta except Nancy

[00:33:18] I said which we'll get there in a second

[00:33:20] It because all of these people are not from anywhere near the south nor are they trying to act like they're from the south?

[00:33:28] It makes Nancy Grace's cameo in this movie stick out like a sore thumb. I don't have an opinion on Nancy Grace

[00:33:35] I don't know much about her. I just know she's very southern and she did write these books

[00:33:40] She shows up and it is like this person which one of these is not like the others and

[00:33:46] It just is wild to me that they commit to the south so hard and have no one else commit to the south in this movie

[00:33:52] Whatsoever. I will say this is better than a baker or a teacher getting to go inside the crime scene

[00:34:00] however

[00:34:01] This woman no longer works for the DA

[00:34:03] The fact that they continue to let her in the crime scene over and over again

[00:34:07] Still is a problem even though compared to other Hallmark mysteries it holds up way better

[00:34:12] And last but not least

[00:34:14] Viv Leacock's characters commitment to holding his sunglasses is unlike anything

[00:34:19] I've ever seen you take those bad boys off if you're doing anything longer than about 30 seconds. You usually put them somewhere

[00:34:25] shirt

[00:34:26] hat

[00:34:28] Pocket he holds them while he searches with a metal detector

[00:34:32] For an entire scene you always want to be ready to go like this

[00:34:35] Yeah, like David Caruso CSI Miami never know when he needs he is lit you can you can have them hanging on anything

[00:34:41] That's not holding them. You've used

[00:34:45] It doesn't work to hold the whole time. That's all I got he it works for him Dan

[00:34:49] It's not for what the hallmarks where we wonder what could have been maybe I think it's unclear any questions

[00:34:53] We still have some of these may be answered later down the road who knows but Brian. What do you have?

[00:34:58] I'm wondering why he held on to Cutner's phone like what was he did you do that by it seemed like an accident?

[00:35:04] Yeah, but also him trying to take on his identity

[00:35:07] It seemed to like he was just gonna pick up and start answering calls as Cutner like I I think you know obviously

[00:35:13] He could be using his phone so when he he had like it was like oh

[00:35:18] I'll just have this in case I need a phone

[00:35:19] Yeah, just in case right, but it just feels like a bat a real bad mistake

[00:35:25] Yeah, as a killer trying to escape the country to hold on to a phone of the guy you killed

[00:35:30] So why why why do we do that? I also am wondering about him

[00:35:35] do we

[00:35:37] One why didn't do he just go to Brazil?

[00:35:39] Yeah after it happens a great question like the plan he explains to one obviously

[00:35:45] But it was amazing and why would you not want to get that obvious immediately?

[00:35:48] But to Brazil he like explains to Haley. I'm gonna take you to Brazil

[00:35:54] I mean

[00:35:56] Once we get there you can come right on back. It's not like he's in a rat like he just wants to get to Brazil

[00:36:00] So what what was holding him there and two?

[00:36:04] Was he like?

[00:36:06] Staying in Haley's closet or something he was there at a very convenient time

[00:36:13] Listening in oh, oh she's talking about the thing. This is when it's gonna come out. Here's where I finally

[00:36:18] Where was he where was he hiding? Yeah? Why was he in her house at that moment?

[00:36:23] Was that where he was staying he snuck in there, and he just said I'll just hang out here for a while

[00:36:28] It's creepy seems like a good person to be listening in on so I don't know a lot of questions about that

[00:36:32] I'm gonna piggyback on that

[00:36:34] I was wondering why he didn't immediately go to Brazil as soon as he spoke at his wife's funeral because the idea is as I

[00:36:39] Go there, and then even if they find out

[00:36:42] I got all the money, and I'm in Brazil. It's a hiding spot

[00:36:46] I assume there's no extradition out of Brazil to the United States

[00:36:49] But

[00:36:52] Like as soon as you're on that plane, and it takes off it doesn't matter if they're and is there something

[00:36:57] We're missing there as to why he didn't just go straight to Brazil

[00:37:01] Because then you can't catch him yeah, yes, then you can't catch

[00:37:05] That's a good point answered by what the hallmark so there you have it. Yeah, cuz if he did then he can catch

[00:37:09] That's right there you go. Oh we did everybody

[00:37:13] Congratulations to us we did tomorrow when goes the heart Thursday

[00:37:17] I don't remember, but it's gonna be a great week everybody's gonna be a great week, and we're gonna be here every single day

[00:37:23] dad gum it

[00:37:25] Until tomorrow maybe the first to wish you a Merry Christmas

[00:37:29] Double-decker the week

[00:37:32] Double-decker exactly right this is a bramble jam plus calm join at the double-decker tier or higher

[00:37:37] Yeah, every week Brian dives in and tells us about one of our yes our members this week

[00:37:44] We're excited to highlight Jackie Jackie just

[00:37:54] Yeah, Jackie

[00:37:57] has been

[00:37:59] She's a big fan of musicals

[00:38:02] But bigger than most she feels like they're not getting really as much attention as they should be

[00:38:09] So she she came up with this idea to help promote both

[00:38:14] Musicals Oh and her favorite thing other favorite thing flowers, okay, and she's calling

[00:38:21] It's a crossover that frankly has been should have been done a long time

[00:38:25] You know when you go to a show and you maybe bring someone flowers. Yeah, absolutely

[00:38:28] And so that's a great observation there

[00:38:31] And so she's calling this just to make sure everybody understands the motto behind it lack a day sickles

[00:38:38] And so we're hoping with

[00:38:41] Jackie's Jackie's new venture Jackie e

[00:38:44] Wishes there were more flower musical combos. Mm-hmm, so she's naming her business

[00:38:50] lack a day so pretty marketing genius because she lacking daisies at musicals

[00:38:56] Yes, lack is it very physical so if you called up like days of calls. Yeah somewhere

[00:39:03] Person

[00:39:04] That would call them to go. What do they need?

[00:39:07] To call up like a day's goals. I'm mad because I

[00:39:11] Need a musical one, and I love flowers. So Jackie directs musicals with flowers

[00:39:18] Yeah, what is it exactly? Yeah, she's was more of a she's sort of like producer you could say

[00:39:24] But not the kind that gets the like the ACE

[00:39:27] Or the PGA. She's not like register

[00:39:31] Yeah

[00:39:32] It's sort of like a producer who's got like, you know a nice office and the ideas and bring some people together

[00:39:38] So she's not really quite down in the weeds of it more on ice weeds. Let's let's get some things moving here

[00:39:45] So if you call up lackadaisicals incorporated an S Corp register probably in Delaware the best state to register

[00:39:51] You're not getting Jackie

[00:39:54] You'll know you know

[00:39:57] Some musical theater kid trying to come up, but she's all you know supporting the

[00:40:02] Musical movement. Why do people call for talk about that? What it was?

[00:40:07] That's a good anything really anything to do with musicals or flowers and combining them

[00:40:13] Okay, yeah, it's it's a really something that's not really happening out there quite like a day's equals

[00:40:21] More do you need not much I don't think

[00:40:27] The homework the bramble jam podcast is produced by Aaron Shay
