So it's 1998, and Regina is by herself, desperate for her kids to come visit. Luckily, her friend comes by just in time to see the sink explode, so she calls a handyman.
In 1960, Eli and Penny are getting ready for Christmas. Eli is very stressed because his dad is staying with them, and he's less than thrilled, though he freaking looks great. Eli is the author of a bestselling book, but his dad is not impressed. Eli's son just wants him to help finish the time capsule.
Then in 2015, Jessie is helping her sister plan her big Christmas wedding. Beth is getting nervous, though, and it keeps getting worse. Her fiancé calls and says the business that was handling everything just went out of business. But Jessie is confident: "We can definitely do this!" Then the bad news keeps coming. Jessie's ex-boyfriend Tim is the officiant, and the wedding is going to take place in her backyard.
So Regina's whole thing is that the handyman shows up and just kind of sticks around. It's Nelson, her future husband, but for now he's just the handyman who is sticking around. However, he doesn't know anything about pipes, which is a problem.
Eli and his son are working on the time capsule, but Eli's dad is very grumpy about it.
And Jessie and Tim just kind of have to keep being around each other.
Ultimately, everything works out. Eli and his dad have a heart-to-heart, and they finish the capsule and bury it in a titanium box.
That box is what led to the tree root hitting the pipe that burst in 1998. They end up finding the box and open it up and yay for them.
And Jessie and Tim had their one and only date locked in the school gym in 1998. In 2015, they finally make up, and the wedding is great. They end up kissing, and everyone has a happy ending.

[00:00:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Hi, I'm Brandon. I love Hallmark plus Christmas movies. Hi, I'm Ryan. Yeah, I like Hallmark plus Christmas movies. I'm Dan. I'm contractually obligated to be here and I despise Hallmark plus Christmas movies. And this is the Deck The Hallmark Podcast. Deck The Hallmark. It's his podcast. Friends host his podcast. We hope you like this jolly podcast. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hello everybody.
[00:00:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Is that Rye Guy over there for a Hallmark plus Christmas movie? There he is. That's my beat, Bubba. That's exactly right. How did you get it? You won a lottery. Did you draw the short straw? What happened here? Believe it or not, it was both. It was a crazy tale. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, go ahead. I was going to say we had a double-decker, a lovely double-decker, Aira Evans, who released her top, her favorite movies of the year last week. And her number one was the first Cherry Lane Hallmark plus movie.
[00:01:07] [SPEAKER_01]: We're sorry. And I said, don't listen to the episode. She's like, no, no, no. I love when I like a movie and you guys hate it. I was like, well, you're going to have a super good time with that one. So I've not heard from her since, but I think she's still a double-decker.
[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_03]: She just canceled her subscription. She just did. That was the sound of that happening. Ryan, Merry Christmas to you. It's a Sunday, I think, before Christmas, I believe.
[00:01:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's the one. 22nd.
[00:01:31] [SPEAKER_03]: It's a big weekend. About to head into the big show. What movies? I know you're big into having a schedule. You released it.
[00:01:42] [SPEAKER_01]: One of the most confusing announcement videos of all time.
[00:01:44] [SPEAKER_00]: I think it was confusing for others. I thought I was very clear with this.
[00:01:47] [SPEAKER_03]: But what do you have left?
[00:01:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Just throwing titles up on the screen.
[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_03]: What do the next couple days look like for you? Because I know you're not working. You're off, which is great.
[00:01:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so today's the 22nd. Today's the Santa Claus in primetime.
[00:02:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, primetime Santa Claus.
[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, come on.
[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. My 23rd choices are probably pretty controversial. There's a bunch of things I watched throughout the day since I'm off, but the primetime showings are I'll Be Home for Christmas, actually, JTT.
[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_00]: That gets a Eve Eve.
[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_00]: This is promo merch.
[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this is promo merch.
[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_01]: The merch is great.
[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_03]: I'll Be Home for Christmas getting an Eve Eve placement.
[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_01]: A primetime slot is crazy.
[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_00]: What's the man made?
[00:02:27] [SPEAKER_00]: And then it's a double feature on the 23rd. Aaron Shay will like this. The other is To Grandmother's House We Go starring the Olsen twins.
[00:02:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, she's applauding.
[00:02:36] [SPEAKER_03]: This is unbearable.
[00:02:37] [SPEAKER_03]: I have no problem with you watching those movies every year.
[00:02:41] [SPEAKER_03]: And I want to make that perfectly clear.
[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, thank you.
[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm just surprised that you have it as prominent.
[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_03]: I said that it would be a surprise.
[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you did.
[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_01]: You did.
[00:02:56] [SPEAKER_01]: What are the matinees that day?
[00:02:57] [SPEAKER_01]: What did you watch during the day?
[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no, I can do it off the top of my head.
[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_00]: There's a Carrie Underwood HBO Max special, a Tori Kelly YouTube special for her Christmas album.
[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Lots of variety shows.
[00:03:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_03]: All of this sounds better so far.
[00:03:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:03:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and then I might be missing one thing, but that's the 23rd.
[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Should I keep going to the 24th?
[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_01]: I want to hear the 24th primetime and the 25th primetime if you don't mind.
[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_01]: 24th primetime is Jingle All The Way, right?
[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Am I understanding that correctly?
[00:03:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, so technically, yes.
[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it starts primetime.
[00:03:31] [SPEAKER_00]: I watch it with my mom.
[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_00]: We're at my parents in the beginning, like the early evening.
[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_00]: That might be like a 4 p.m.
[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_00]: A post-dinner for an early dinner, post-dinner jingle all the way.
[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_00]: An early dinner, post-dinner.
[00:03:44] [SPEAKER_00]: You heard it here first.
[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_00]: And then we'll go.
[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Then it's a couple Power Ranger Christmas specials in early primetime.
[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Of course, yeah.
[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm dreaming of a white ranger, which is actually pretty clever wordplay.
[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Sounds like a really racist movie.
[00:04:03] [SPEAKER_00]: And then we close out the night.
[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_00]: I might add, so I also have Frosty the Snowman with original commercials.
[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_00]: I may add that to the Christmas season.
[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_00]: And then before I go to bed, it's Disney's Very Merry Singalong.
[00:04:17] [SPEAKER_00]: I watch it with my parents when I was a kid all the way through.
[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_00]: You have kids?
[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_00]: No news to report.
[00:04:22] [SPEAKER_00]: No news to report.
[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I have a headache.
[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm fighting for the pain.
[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Guys, let's just see.
[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, my gosh.
[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Don't tell Alyssa.
[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_00]: I really get fine.
[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, he watches it with the kids.
[00:04:30] [SPEAKER_01]: It's for the kids.
[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_01]: And then Christmas Day.
[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Christmas Day.
[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Christmas Day, believe it or not.
[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Brand, I'd be curious about you on this.
[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_00]: There were some years where I tried to do the remake of Miracle on 34th Street at night.
[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_00]: I've really abandoned that.
[00:04:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Now I just do the Disney parade in the morning.
[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_00]: And Alyssa and I have started a tradition.
[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if I've said this on the pod.
[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_00]: We met because of the Jim Carrey Grinch.
[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_00]: That was the hinge prompt that had us meet.
[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_00]: And so we're going to start watching that pre-bed on Christmas night.
[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_00]: I love that.
[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_00]: I love that.
[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I just watched that.
[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_03]: You're a Christmas story.
[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm a Christmas.
[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_03]: That's how I close out Christmas with Christmas story.
[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, that's beautiful.
[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Because I think, per my money, best closing shot and the best way to close out the holiday season.
[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_03]: When they're looking out the window?
[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_03]: That's tough to be in a great way to close it out.
[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_03]: And then I just immediately get depressed.
[00:05:18] [SPEAKER_03]: So looking forward to it.
[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Dude, I'm already depressed.
[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it's been rough for the last couple weeks.
[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Brand's got a neighbor who will cheer him right up.
[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm really good and sensitive with that kind of stuff.
[00:05:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Hey, if you want to do me the solid Christmas night, just throwing me little pieces of steak
[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_03]: that you're grilling up or whatever you're doing.
[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_00]: He's going to throw you pieces of his tree as he gets ready to toss it next morning.
[00:05:39] [SPEAKER_00]: He'll do it on the 26th.
[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Quick timeout, though.
[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_01]: You and Alyssa met.
[00:05:44] [SPEAKER_01]: You and Alyssa met on Hinge because of the Jim Carrey Grinch.
[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Grinch?
[00:05:51] [SPEAKER_00]: So it was, I cheated.
[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_01]: She was fundamentally made for you.
[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_01]: You cheated the prompt?
[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_00]: So her prompt, like one of the, I don't know, you guys probably don't know how Hinge works.
[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Like the whole thing is they give you like five or six prompts to like, you know, start
[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_00]: conversation.
[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_00]: And one of the ones that she had was a quote from a movie.
[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Can you name the movie?
[00:06:09] [SPEAKER_00]: And the movie, the quote was, that's it.
[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going.
[00:06:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Now, Christmas aficionado, Ryan Papilla.
[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_00]: I had no idea what it was from.
[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_00]: I cheated.
[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_00]: I Googled the quote.
[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_00]: So it was from the Jim Carrey Grinch.
[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't tell her that until months and months and months later.
[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_00]: That's right.
[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_03]: But it's when he's invited to the holiday, who be what?
[00:06:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[00:06:28] [SPEAKER_01]: But did you, how'd she take it when you told her that you didn't, you cheated the prompt?
[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we're still here.
[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, she's, she, I mean, that's crazy.
[00:06:39] [SPEAKER_01]: That's a crazy.
[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Fun fact.
[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Fun thing.
[00:06:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Our, our, this year with my folks and my nephews, the theme of which wasn't our choice
[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_00]: is Grinch pajamas.
[00:06:48] [SPEAKER_00]: So we got ones that say, that's it.
[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going.
[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that's nice.
[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_01]: What about for your kids?
[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Cherry Lane too.
[00:06:58] [SPEAKER_01]: I just.
[00:06:58] [SPEAKER_01]: What's the capital of Bangkok, Ryan?
[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Love that.
[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I was thinking about that.
[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Can I tell you, this is how serious.
[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_01]: We think about it once a day around here.
[00:07:05] [SPEAKER_00]: I did.
[00:07:06] [SPEAKER_00]: I like that would have crushed.
[00:07:07] [SPEAKER_00]: It would have crushed.
[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_00]: That would have crushed.
[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_00]: You have one job.
[00:07:11] [SPEAKER_00]: I think it was last night.
[00:07:13] [SPEAKER_00]: I was sporting my headache and I was like, oh man, that would have crushed.
[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_00]: It's like two in the morning.
[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_00]: It would have crushed.
[00:07:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Of all the things you think about at two in the morning, you just.
[00:07:20] [SPEAKER_01]: You had a moment there.
[00:07:21] [SPEAKER_00]: I take, I take the art very seriously.
[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_00]: It was right there.
[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_03]: It was right there for the taking.
[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_03]: I just showed the Grinch to my kids and they loved it and I love it.
[00:07:29] [SPEAKER_03]: So it's great.
[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Jim Carrier, original animated.
[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_00]: They've seen it all now.
[00:07:35] [SPEAKER_01]: I showed them the Jim Carrier.
[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_01]: The Benedict Cumberbatch animated is the best Grinch.
[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_00]: I think we're going to put that on in the background on Christmas Eve.
[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_00]: I've never seen it.
[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_00]: You've never seen it.
[00:07:44] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not even close.
[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_00]: It's beautiful.
[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm, you know, from pillar to post here for once, you know, once September hits, I'm booked
[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_00]: as it is.
[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_00]: So it's tough to get new stuff.
[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_01]: I saw the video announcement.
[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I listened.
[00:07:54] [SPEAKER_01]: It's the soundtrack for that Grinch.
[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_01]: You got to run DMC songs.
[00:07:58] [SPEAKER_01]: You got a Pentatonix.
[00:07:59] [SPEAKER_01]: God rest you gentlemen.
[00:08:00] [SPEAKER_01]: There's actually Tyler, the creator, Tyler, the creator is on there.
[00:08:04] [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
[00:08:04] [SPEAKER_00]: This is actually really exciting.
[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, yeah, maybe I'll pay attention.
[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_03]: I'll pay attention twice.
[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Tori Kelly's on there.
[00:08:10] [SPEAKER_03]: She's not, but I'm just trying to get you to watch it.
[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it is the Benedict Cumberbatch Grinch is the best one.
[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not a Jim Carrey Grinch fan, but the Benedict Cumberbatch one's great.
[00:08:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Now, I know we got to.
[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_03]: You're stalling here.
[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_03]: But one more question.
[00:08:26] [SPEAKER_03]: I know your book's solid.
[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Stimper Stern.
[00:08:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Stimper Stern.
[00:08:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Come September 16th.
[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_03]: No room for September 16th.
[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_03]: February.
[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_03]: February.
[00:08:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Come September 16th, your book's solid for the next 100 days.
[00:08:39] [SPEAKER_03]: How has it gone?
[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Have you been able to hold steady?
[00:08:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Have you been able to watch all the things that you wanted to see?
[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Or did I watch the video for nothing, that announcement?
[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_01]: No, no.
[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm on pace right now.
[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_00]: I was supposed to squeeze in the Rugrats Christmas special right before this.
[00:08:54] [SPEAKER_00]: That didn't happen.
[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_00]: But you know what?
[00:08:56] [SPEAKER_00]: It's early enough in the day where I think I can readjust some things.
[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm on pace right now, Brian.
[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_00]: How about you?
[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm doing great.
[00:09:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'm having a lot of fun.
[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm getting a lot done over here, buddy.
[00:09:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Thanks so much.
[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Back to you, Dan.
[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely.
[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_01]: A ton of feedback there from both of you.
[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Should we talk about Cherry Lane?
[00:09:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I guess so.
[00:09:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Number two of three.
[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:09:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, technically, I guess it's number three of four if you include the original.
[00:09:23] [SPEAKER_03]: But anyway, whatever.
[00:09:24] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm certainly not.
[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_00]: I haven't seen it.
[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Of course.
[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_03]: I love you going in blind and not knowing who was in the first one.
[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Happy holidays from Cherry Lane.
[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_03]: That's the one we're talking about today.
[00:09:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Not to be confused with next week's, which is like Deck the Halls.
[00:09:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, I believe.
[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, December 12th, 2024 is when it premiered on the Hallmark Plus and went a little something
[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_03]: like this.
[00:09:46] [SPEAKER_03]: So it's 1998 and Regina is by herself, desperate for her kids to come visit, but they're not
[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_03]: going to because they don't love her.
[00:09:55] [SPEAKER_03]: Luckily, her friend comes by just in time to see the sink explode.
[00:10:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Got a little bit of a pipe issue here.
[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_03]: So she calls the handyman.
[00:10:05] [SPEAKER_03]: We go back to 1960.
[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Eli and Penny, they are getting ready for Christmas.
[00:10:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Eli is very stressed because his dad is staying with them and they don't have the best of relationships.
[00:10:16] [SPEAKER_03]: And he's less than thrilled by the fact that his dad is here, though.
[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Looks great.
[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_03]: And I want to get ahead of this.
[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_03]: He looks amazing.
[00:10:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Eli is the author of a bestselling book, but his dad is not impressed by that.
[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Eli's son just wants him to help finish the time capsule that they're getting ready to bury
[00:10:37] [SPEAKER_03]: that evening.
[00:10:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Then in 2015, Jessie is helping her sister plan her big Christmas wedding.
[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Beth is getting nervous, though, and it keeps getting worse.
[00:10:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Her fiance calls and said that the business that's handling basically everything just went
[00:10:54] [SPEAKER_03]: out of business.
[00:10:55] [SPEAKER_03]: You can tell by all the out of business signs.
[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_03]: They want you to know.
[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_03]: But Jessie is confident we can still do this.
[00:11:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Then the bad news keeps coming, at least this time for Jessie.
[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_03]: She finds out that her ex-boyfriend, Tim, is going to be the officiant.
[00:11:13] [SPEAKER_03]: And the wedding is going to be taking place in her backyard.
[00:11:17] [SPEAKER_03]: So her ex-boyfriend is going to be hanging out at her house all day long.
[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_03]: But Regina's whole thing in this movie is the handyman that shows up.
[00:11:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Just kind of sticks around the whole time.
[00:11:29] [SPEAKER_03]: His name is Nelson.
[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Now we have, and I know you know this, Ryan.
[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_03]: You don't, Ryan.
[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_03]: But Regina and Nelson are married.
[00:11:36] [SPEAKER_03]: That's right.
[00:11:36] [SPEAKER_03]: And Christmas is a Cherry Lane.
[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_03]: So we know what ends up happening with them.
[00:11:40] [SPEAKER_03]: But we kind of get to see how they got to know each other on this Christmas Eve or whatever
[00:11:47] [SPEAKER_03]: day it is.
[00:11:48] [SPEAKER_03]: And go ahead.
[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah.
[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_03]: It's Christmas Eve.
[00:11:51] [SPEAKER_03]: And so he doesn't.
[00:11:53] [SPEAKER_03]: The only problem, though, is he doesn't do pipes.
[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_03]: So when he finds out that there's a pipe situation, he's basically like, I guess my job here is
[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_03]: done.
[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Spoiler alert, it's not.
[00:12:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Eli and his son are working on the time capsule.
[00:12:06] [SPEAKER_03]: But Eli's dad is very grumpy about it and refuses to participate.
[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.
[00:12:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Jesse and Tim just kind of keep being around each other, talking about the good old days
[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_03]: and then arguing and whatnot.
[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Ultimately, everything works out.
[00:12:21] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if you know how these ones work.
[00:12:23] [SPEAKER_03]: But Eli and his dad have a heart to heart and they finish a time capsule together, even
[00:12:28] [SPEAKER_03]: putting something of the father's wife's clock that she loved into the titanium box.
[00:12:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Now, that box is what ultimately led to the tree root hitting the pipe because it had to
[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_03]: go around the box.
[00:12:47] [SPEAKER_03]: That's what caused the pipe to burst in 1998.
[00:12:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Galvanized steel, Brian.
[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_03]: That's right.
[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Sorry.
[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Titanium.
[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm such a dummy.
[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Titanium.
[00:12:54] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm titanium.
[00:12:55] [SPEAKER_03]: That's exactly right.
[00:12:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Now, our guy Nelson came back because he was just like, I could probably figure this
[00:13:00] [SPEAKER_03]: out.
[00:13:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Took out a metal detector and found that box.
[00:13:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he did.
[00:13:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Pulls it out.
[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_03]: And then they look inside of it and they're like, look at it all.
[00:13:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Jesse and Tim had their one and only date locked in the school gym in 1998.
[00:13:19] [SPEAKER_03]: And in 1998, what's her?
[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Regina was the principal of that school.
[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_03]: What?
[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_03]: I know.
[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_03]: It's crazy.
[00:13:26] [SPEAKER_03]: So in 2015.
[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Crazy.
[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_03]: In 2015, they finally make up.
[00:13:29] [SPEAKER_03]: The wedding is great.
[00:13:30] [SPEAKER_03]: They end up kissing and everybody has a happy ending.
[00:13:34] [SPEAKER_03]: And that, my friends, was Happy Holidays from Cherry Lane.
[00:13:41] [SPEAKER_01]: We did it.
[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:13:43] [SPEAKER_01]: A sequel.
[00:13:43] [SPEAKER_03]: We did do it.
[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Let's take a quick break.
[00:13:45] [SPEAKER_03]: We'll come back.
[00:13:45] [SPEAKER_03]: We'll break this movie down with four segments here on Deck the Hallmark.
[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Welcome back, everybody.
[00:13:59] [SPEAKER_03]: We're talking about Happy Holidays from Cherry Lane.
[00:14:01] [SPEAKER_03]: The deuce, if you will.
[00:14:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Were you throwing haymakers over your head there, Ryan?
[00:14:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, man.
[00:14:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:14:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[00:14:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Just kidding.
[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Filo.tv slash DTH should catch all that.
[00:14:10] [SPEAKER_00]: This is what people pay for right here.
[00:14:12] [SPEAKER_00]: You get a show.
[00:14:13] [SPEAKER_03]: You get a show.
[00:14:14] [SPEAKER_03]: And also, this is a Hallmark Plus movie, which you can now add to your Filo subscription.
[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_03]: You can go in there and add the Hallmark Plus.
[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_03]: You no longer have to have two different apps.
[00:14:22] [SPEAKER_03]: That's how we watched it.
[00:14:23] [SPEAKER_03]: If you want to do it.
[00:14:23] [SPEAKER_03]: That's exactly right.
[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_03]: We have Hallmark Plus added to our Filo.
[00:14:27] [SPEAKER_03]: And now we can just watch it all in one nice place, which is very nice.
[00:14:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Filo.tv slash DTH should do that today.
[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_03]: All right.
[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Let's get it to it.
[00:14:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Let's get it to it.
[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Let's break it down.
[00:14:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Let's start with a hot take.
[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_03]: It's where we share exactly how we felt about this movie.
[00:14:40] [SPEAKER_03]: We're not going to hold back.
[00:14:41] [SPEAKER_03]: And I'll kick it over to my guy, Rye.
[00:14:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Rye?
[00:14:44] [SPEAKER_03]: What do you think?
[00:14:47] [SPEAKER_00]: When I was a kid, I wanted to be a professional basketball player.
[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Cool.
[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Tried out for my middle school team.
[00:14:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Tried out for my middle school team.
[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't make it.
[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_00]: You and me both.
[00:14:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Same for you two.
[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_01]: I made mine.
[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Don't worry.
[00:14:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:14:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I really wondered at that moment what I was going to do with the rest of my life.
[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_05]: Yep.
[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_05]: I feel this.
[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_00]: And today it all makes sense.
[00:15:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Because if I had been in the NBA, I wouldn't have seen this.
[00:15:13] [SPEAKER_00]: You wouldn't have seen this.
[00:15:14] [SPEAKER_00]: I definitely wouldn't have reviewed it.
[00:15:16] [SPEAKER_00]: No.
[00:15:16] [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm here to tell you that this is the best Hallmark Plus Christmas movie of all time.
[00:15:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, wow.
[00:15:23] [SPEAKER_02]: We did it.
[00:15:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Are you saying that comparatively to the four unwrappings in the first?
[00:15:29] [SPEAKER_01]: That's exactly what he said.
[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, sir.
[00:15:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Absolute trash heap that is the first Cherry Lane movie, this is the best one?
[00:15:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[00:15:37] [SPEAKER_01]: That's what I'm telling you.
[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_01]: That's what I'm telling you.
[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_01]: So I want you to break down exactly how high a praise this is.
[00:15:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, this movie isn't very good.
[00:15:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_00]: There we go.
[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_00]: There we go.
[00:15:47] [SPEAKER_00]: There we go.
[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_00]: But it is genuinely, all bits aside, all ghost of Christmas always paraphrasings aside,
[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_00]: it's a night and day difference from last week.
[00:15:59] [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, I mean, no, I really do think so.
[00:16:03] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they don't feel like they were made by the same people in any way, shape, or form.
[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it's that 2003 storyline last week was just so horrendously awful that it brings down
[00:16:13] [SPEAKER_00]: the Q rating.
[00:16:15] [SPEAKER_00]: But I really like what Ben Ayers is doing here.
[00:16:17] [SPEAKER_00]: He looks great.
[00:16:18] [SPEAKER_00]: He really goes for it.
[00:16:20] [SPEAKER_00]: It's a lot of fun.
[00:16:21] [SPEAKER_00]: The rest of this is perfectly fine, if not forgettable.
[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_00]: But the stories are simple and pleasant.
[00:16:27] [SPEAKER_00]: And I could see others watching this.
[00:16:31] [SPEAKER_00]: We talked about how last week was somebody's number one.
[00:16:33] [SPEAKER_00]: I could see how somebody would watch this and say, you know, I really like that.
[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, no, this wasn't good.
[00:16:39] [SPEAKER_00]: But compared to what we've gotten, it was a masterclass brand.
[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Listen, he's right about it.
[00:16:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Everything he said is accurate.
[00:16:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Now, I think we can all agree.
[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe not.
[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
[00:16:51] [SPEAKER_03]: But if I was going to rate rank the storylines in this movie, it'd be Ben Ayers and his dad.
[00:16:57] [SPEAKER_01]: And what happens after that?
[00:16:59] [SPEAKER_03]: And then I would say Regina and Nelson.
[00:17:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Who are they?
[00:17:04] [SPEAKER_03]: The one with the pipes.
[00:17:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Great.
[00:17:06] [SPEAKER_03]: The pipes.
[00:17:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
[00:17:07] [SPEAKER_03]: James Denton.
[00:17:08] [SPEAKER_03]: And then the wedding.
[00:17:08] [SPEAKER_03]: I didn't care about the wedding storyline at all.
[00:17:11] [SPEAKER_03]: But I got to tell you, Ben Ayers and his dad, his dad did not have to go as hard as he did in this movie.
[00:17:21] [SPEAKER_03]: And he did.
[00:17:23] [SPEAKER_03]: He went hard.
[00:17:23] [SPEAKER_03]: And you could feel it.
[00:17:25] [SPEAKER_03]: You could feel that relationship, the butting of heads, the softening of Christmas time, and realizing that, you know what?
[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't always have to put up walls just because I think that he's putting up walls.
[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_03]: I can be the one to break down the walls.
[00:17:44] [SPEAKER_03]: I can be the one to extend the olive branch, if you will.
[00:17:47] [SPEAKER_03]: And I found that storyline to be absolutely wonderful.
[00:17:50] [SPEAKER_03]: And you are right.
[00:17:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Ben Ayers looked amazing.
[00:17:55] [SPEAKER_03]: And so that storyline elevates this movie so much because the other stuff, I could take or leave.
[00:18:03] [SPEAKER_03]: I didn't really care about it that much.
[00:18:05] [SPEAKER_03]: And again, and I know this is a me thing.
[00:18:07] [SPEAKER_03]: I just really have a hard time with this many people.
[00:18:11] [SPEAKER_03]: I can't do it.
[00:18:13] [SPEAKER_03]: And so I just really tend to gravitate towards one storyline.
[00:18:16] [SPEAKER_03]: And then when the other ones are going on, I'm, you know, looking up eBay stuff for Ryan or something.
[00:18:23] [SPEAKER_03]: So, yes.
[00:18:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Is there one storyline in here that is better than any storyline that we've seen this season on Homework Plus?
[00:18:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, there absolutely is.
[00:18:33] [SPEAKER_03]: And it happens to be in this movie.
[00:18:35] [SPEAKER_03]: So congratulations.
[00:18:36] [SPEAKER_03]: It did it.
[00:18:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Dano?
[00:18:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think we're all going to say the same thing.
[00:18:40] [SPEAKER_01]: They're just going to be nicer than I am.
[00:18:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Listen, the guy that plays Ben Ayers' dad, his name is Serge.
[00:18:45] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to go with Howd.
[00:18:47] [SPEAKER_01]: It could be.
[00:18:48] [SPEAKER_01]: His name is Serge?
[00:18:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Serge Howd.
[00:18:50] [SPEAKER_01]: H-O-U-D-E.
[00:18:53] [SPEAKER_01]: That guy and Ben Ayers.
[00:18:55] [SPEAKER_01]: This is as good as I've ever seen Ben Ayers ever.
[00:18:58] [SPEAKER_01]: He's so good in this.
[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_01]: And the scenes with he and Serge are amazing.
[00:19:02] [SPEAKER_01]: The problem is that represents one half of one storyline in this movie.
[00:19:09] [SPEAKER_01]: So, three big storylines.
[00:19:12] [SPEAKER_01]: One half of one in 1960 is this Ben Ayers, Serge Howd storyline.
[00:19:17] [SPEAKER_01]: And it is legitimately great.
[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_01]: That represents 12 to 14 minutes of this movie.
[00:19:23] [SPEAKER_01]: The rest of this movie is trash.
[00:19:24] [SPEAKER_01]: It is bad.
[00:19:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Bad, bad, bad.
[00:19:27] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not as actively bad as the previous one.
[00:19:30] [SPEAKER_01]: But I didn't care.
[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_01]: The time capsule was so bad.
[00:19:36] [SPEAKER_01]: The way they find the time capsule was so bad.
[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Catherine Bell, James Denton are fine in this movie.
[00:19:41] [SPEAKER_01]: But aside from that one storyline, it didn't work.
[00:19:44] [SPEAKER_01]: So, does that make it better than last week's?
[00:19:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[00:19:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Does that make it better than three of the unwrapping Christmases?
[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I still think the Busby, Jake Epstein unwrapping is better than this movie.
[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Because the thing that works in this movie is only around for like 12 to 14 minutes.
[00:19:59] [SPEAKER_01]: And like that is, there are a lot of great feels to be had in those scenes.
[00:20:04] [SPEAKER_01]: But a movie that does not make.
[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_01]: And so, for me, just I echo everything you said about those two.
[00:20:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I think they're wonderful.
[00:20:12] [SPEAKER_01]: The rest of this movie was a slog.
[00:20:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And I didn't want any part of it.
[00:20:16] [SPEAKER_01]: But I will say this.
[00:20:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Nothing as bad as the middle storyline from the first movie where the two sets of parents.
[00:20:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Is that the middle storyline?
[00:20:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, dear.
[00:20:24] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
[00:20:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Nothing as bad as that.
[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_01]: So, there you go.
[00:20:27] [SPEAKER_02]: I've already forgotten that.
[00:20:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Guys, it's been a long season.
[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_02]: We've got a lot of movies.
[00:20:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's get to all the feels when we're talking about what this movie gave us feels.
[00:20:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Ryan?
[00:20:35] [SPEAKER_00]: We'll probably all have the same answer, right?
[00:20:37] [SPEAKER_00]: When Ben Ayers and Surge patched things up at the end.
[00:20:41] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's subtle, but it's effective.
[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_00]: It's really nice.
[00:20:46] [SPEAKER_00]: They're not hitting you over the head with it.
[00:20:47] [SPEAKER_00]: It was beautiful.
[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_00]: I loved it.
[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_03]: When I saw that Ben Ayers was going to be a fella in the 1960s, I immediately stood up and I said, okay, let's see what he does with it.
[00:21:02] [SPEAKER_01]: You did?
[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_01]: I guess I wasn't here.
[00:21:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Immediately?
[00:21:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:21:36] [SPEAKER_01]: I wasn't here when you heard that.
[00:21:38] [SPEAKER_01]: He was always the best in the game at it.
[00:21:40] [SPEAKER_01]: And in this movie, I think it allowed him to wrinkle the page with like 30 minutes, 25 minutes of airtime.
[00:21:47] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's as good as he's ever been.
[00:21:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I think there's something about Ben Ayers as a lead where he has to be the Hallmark leading man.
[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_01]: And so at some point, some of the eccentricities that Ayers brings to the table, I think, kind of get left by the wayside because he looks amazing and he is going to end up being tall, dark and handsome leading man on Hallmark.
[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_01]: What he does here is as good as I've ever seen him.
[00:22:08] [SPEAKER_01]: And that is not a slight.
[00:22:10] [SPEAKER_01]: That's not backhanded.
[00:22:11] [SPEAKER_01]: That's just accurate.
[00:22:12] [SPEAKER_01]: And he and Surge are just crushing it.
[00:22:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Even Surge without Ayers.
[00:22:17] [SPEAKER_01]: I think there's some scenes.
[00:22:18] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Surge, he's in 19th.
[00:22:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Surge with the grandson.
[00:22:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Surge is like pre-greatest generation.
[00:22:23] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, this guy like remembers World War I.
[00:22:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[00:22:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Like he grew up in a like you get an orange in your stocking territory.
[00:22:29] [SPEAKER_01]: So like him being gruff and rude really works.
[00:22:33] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he just leans into that.
[00:22:34] [SPEAKER_01]: And I thought he was great.
[00:22:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Panda would call him a young whippersnapper.
[00:22:37] [SPEAKER_03]: He would.
[00:22:37] [SPEAKER_01]: He'd call him a young whippersnapper.
[00:22:38] [SPEAKER_01]: That's nice.
[00:22:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Shout out, Panda.
[00:22:39] [SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
[00:22:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Shout out, obviously.
[00:22:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Let's take a quick break.
[00:22:41] [SPEAKER_03]: We'll come back.
[00:22:42] [SPEAKER_03]: We'll get to the way one.
[00:22:43] [SPEAKER_03]: The what the Hallmark here on Deck the Hallmark.
[00:22:55] [SPEAKER_03]: Hi.
[00:22:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Welcome back, everybody.
[00:22:56] [SPEAKER_03]: We're talking about Cherry Lane the Deuce.
[00:22:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Let's get to the way.
[00:23:00] [SPEAKER_03]: What's is we're talking about what in the soon minutes go away.
[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_03]: What?
[00:23:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Ryan.
[00:23:04] [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
[00:23:04] [SPEAKER_00]: This might get a little wacky because I told these guys before we started my notes single
[00:23:09] [SPEAKER_00]: spaced.
[00:23:09] [SPEAKER_00]: So bear with me.
[00:23:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:23:11] [SPEAKER_00]: I do want to apologize to Aaron Shay up front because last week I said there's no way these
[00:23:16] [SPEAKER_00]: can all take place at the same house.
[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_00]: They all take place at the same house, which I think we also talked about this last week.
[00:23:23] [SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't make any sense.
[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_00]: No.
[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_00]: None at all.
[00:23:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Like my parents have lived in the same house for 30 plus years.
[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_00]: And we got people moving in and out of this one.
[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_03]: It's the magic of seven Cherry Lane.
[00:23:36] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what to tell you.
[00:23:37] [SPEAKER_00]: It's the magic of it.
[00:23:38] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what to tell you either.
[00:23:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Other than other than one of the more uncomfortable lines in the history of Hallmark.
[00:23:48] [SPEAKER_00]: If my principal had looked like you, I wouldn't have minded being sent there as a kid more
[00:23:52] [SPEAKER_00]: often.
[00:23:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, you can't do that.
[00:23:55] [SPEAKER_00]: You can't.
[00:23:56] [SPEAKER_00]: You can't do that for a variety of reasons.
[00:23:57] [SPEAKER_00]: He had just met this woman.
[00:23:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:24:00] [SPEAKER_00]: It all.
[00:24:00] [SPEAKER_00]: It's just inappropriate on a lot of levels.
[00:24:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't like anything about it.
[00:24:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, Ben Air's dad, Serge, uh, says that he has nightmares about this one display Santa.
[00:24:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Now they never go close on this Santa, but as best I can tell, it's just any old Santa
[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_00]: statue.
[00:24:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:24:17] [SPEAKER_00]: There didn't seem to be anything disconcerting about it.
[00:24:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, but who am I to judge this man's fears?
[00:24:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, a bunch of kids break into the school on Christmas Eve and no one seems overly concerned
[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_00]: about it.
[00:24:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, like the, the, the illegal activity doesn't even really, isn't even really a passing mention.
[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, they're, they're worried that the pipes are something that it's cold, but like, it's
[00:24:39] [SPEAKER_00]: too cold.
[00:24:39] [SPEAKER_00]: They just committed a crime.
[00:24:40] [SPEAKER_05]: It's too cold.
[00:24:41] [SPEAKER_00]: It's cold.
[00:24:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, there's no way you'd get a tent ordered, delivered and set up like that on Christmas
[00:24:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Eve.
[00:24:46] [SPEAKER_00]: I digress.
[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_00]: No.
[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, lastly, uh, Claire crank, uh, she thinks that if an establishment is named after someone
[00:24:55] [SPEAKER_00]: that a hundred percent of the time that person's name should always be the current owner of the
[00:25:02] [SPEAKER_00]: establishment.
[00:25:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, which is more insane than thinking that all of these folks have lived at seven cherry
[00:25:08] [SPEAKER_00]: lane over the decades.
[00:25:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, brand that thus concludes my single space.
[00:25:12] [SPEAKER_00]: For a single space.
[00:25:13] [SPEAKER_00]: You crushed it, man.
[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Really?
[00:25:17] [SPEAKER_03]: They're good.
[00:25:17] [SPEAKER_03]: They are proud.
[00:25:18] [SPEAKER_03]: They told me they reached out and they let me know that they were proud.
[00:25:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Um, listen, I've talked, I've talked about, uh, Ben Ayers and, uh, the hot take and then
[00:25:27] [SPEAKER_03]: the, all the fields and might as well keep it going with the way.
[00:25:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, why, why Ben Ayers got to do that to me like that?
[00:25:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Like you, you, you know, you're going to show up and you're going to do this thing and you
[00:25:37] [SPEAKER_03]: get to be this character.
[00:25:39] [SPEAKER_03]: You, he knew what he was doing.
[00:25:41] [SPEAKER_03]: He showed up and he said, I'm going to go stash glass glasses, yellow cardigan.
[00:25:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:25:46] [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm going to give brand fits and it was me.
[00:25:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Is this a wait, what?
[00:25:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:25:52] [SPEAKER_01]: I just, I'm working in everything.
[00:25:54] [SPEAKER_01]: This is the weirdest wait, what of all time.
[00:25:55] [SPEAKER_01]: You've already mentioned it twice.
[00:25:57] [SPEAKER_02]: You didn't have to go.
[00:25:58] [SPEAKER_02]: You didn't have to do me like that.
[00:26:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, this is a top 10 signs.
[00:26:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Brand doesn't have anything.
[00:26:05] [SPEAKER_01]: We'll try this one on for size.
[00:26:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Nelson at one point, uh, says, uh, you can't, you ready for this?
[00:26:14] [SPEAKER_03]: You can't, you can't roast marshmallows inside on, with the fireplace.
[00:26:20] [SPEAKER_03]: You got to take it outside and do it on the outside fireplace.
[00:26:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Um, wrongo.
[00:26:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Uh, I, I have some of my best memories at my grandma's is roasting marshmallows.
[00:26:32] [SPEAKER_03]: That's a legitimate wait, what?
[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_03]: That's a legitimate wait, what?
[00:26:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Get out of here, Nelson.
[00:26:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Get out of here, Nelson.
[00:26:37] [SPEAKER_03]: With your little.
[00:26:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Out of here, Nelson.
[00:26:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Also, Nelson's over there with his, he always has a metal detector handy.
[00:26:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Nelson's up to shady dunes, I will say.
[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_03]: You hate Nelson.
[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Last but not least, I did write this down and I want this to be said.
[00:26:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Um, and I'm not, you either get it or you don't get it.
[00:26:53] [SPEAKER_03]: I wrote down, you got a diver and I don't know what I meant by it and I don't know what
[00:27:01] [SPEAKER_03]: it means, but I did want it said, you got a diver.
[00:27:06] [SPEAKER_01]: You do have a diver.
[00:27:08] [SPEAKER_01]: You got a diver.
[00:27:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I also wrote down one.
[00:27:10] [SPEAKER_01]: This is what happens when we don't record right after we watch.
[00:27:12] [SPEAKER_01]: We got a, I wrote down you and I, we need to talk.
[00:27:15] [SPEAKER_01]: No, we need to talk to Beth.
[00:27:17] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what that means.
[00:27:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh.
[00:27:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Aaron can explain it.
[00:27:21] [SPEAKER_02]: You got a diver?
[00:27:22] [SPEAKER_04]: No, I don't know that one.
[00:27:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Um, it's in the Julie Gonzalo storyline.
[00:27:29] [SPEAKER_04]: It is.
[00:27:29] [SPEAKER_04]: Her sister is starting to get like cold feet and she walks, Julie walks into her ex-boyfriend
[00:27:36] [SPEAKER_04]: slash pastor and is like, we have to talk.
[00:27:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Pause.
[00:27:41] [SPEAKER_04]: And so he's like about us.
[00:27:44] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, we should talk.
[00:27:45] [SPEAKER_04]: And she's like, oh no, we have to talk to Beth.
[00:27:47] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh.
[00:27:48] [SPEAKER_04]: And he's kind of a really weird pause where she, he's like, yeah, about us.
[00:27:52] [SPEAKER_04]: Sure.
[00:27:52] [SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
[00:27:52] [SPEAKER_04]: She's like, no.
[00:27:53] [SPEAKER_04]: Like, cause you made the comment when you were watching it.
[00:27:55] [SPEAKER_04]: You were like, you would walk in and just say, we need to talk to Beth.
[00:27:58] [SPEAKER_01]: We need to talk about Beth.
[00:27:59] [SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
[00:28:00] [SPEAKER_01]: We don't need to talk.
[00:28:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:28:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Cause there's a lot of baggage.
[00:28:02] [SPEAKER_00]: We don't talk about Bruno.
[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_00]: We don't talk about Bruno or Beth.
[00:28:05] [SPEAKER_01]: You got a diver.
[00:28:06] [SPEAKER_01]: You got a diver in that scenario.
[00:28:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, the idea that they are planning this entire wedding, Ryan alluded to it, the planning this
[00:28:13] [SPEAKER_01]: entire wedding on Christmas Eve and then holding it on Christmas Eve is bananas.
[00:28:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, the, all of it is just insane.
[00:28:21] [SPEAKER_01]: You would 100% tell your sister if her ex boyfriend was the pastor, like you would make, you would
[00:28:29] [SPEAKER_01]: mention it, right?
[00:28:30] [SPEAKER_01]: You'd be like, Hey, you're so you're not surprised.
[00:28:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Otherwise the dude you were in love with in high school, he'll be here.
[00:28:39] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's a big part of the day.
[00:28:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, I love, they find out that the business that is supposed to have everything is closed
[00:28:46] [SPEAKER_01]: like the cake and everything.
[00:28:48] [SPEAKER_01]: And we know that it's closed because they're there on Christmas Eve.
[00:28:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Someone is with a cell phone and behind us, we see out of business or close signs from
[00:28:58] [SPEAKER_01]: three different companies.
[00:29:01] [SPEAKER_01]: So three different groups of people put an out of business sign on that door for some
[00:29:06] [SPEAKER_01]: reason, in case you weren't sure they're out of business.
[00:29:10] [SPEAKER_01]: And we know that in yellow, we know that in all caps, we know that in different fonts,
[00:29:16] [SPEAKER_01]: they're closed and out of business.
[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Don't ask.
[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it was a one-stop shop for a lot of things, but maybe it was different entities,
[00:29:24] [SPEAKER_03]: you know, different LLCs and they need a sign for everyone.
[00:29:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe the sign over the door handles that you can't open.
[00:29:29] [SPEAKER_01]: And it would have been enough.
[00:29:30] [SPEAKER_04]: Nah, it's not a store.
[00:29:32] [SPEAKER_04]: It's a venue.
[00:29:33] [SPEAKER_04]: A venue.
[00:29:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Excuse me.
[00:29:34] [SPEAKER_01]: A venue.
[00:29:34] [SPEAKER_04]: They had everything dropped off there.
[00:29:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Of course.
[00:29:38] [SPEAKER_01]: You got a diver.
[00:29:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, they, they, they're going to get married at the sister's house and they say, we're going
[00:29:43] [SPEAKER_01]: to paint the room.
[00:29:44] [SPEAKER_01]: And she goes, paint the room.
[00:29:46] [SPEAKER_01]: And, and, and they said, we'll take it to a vote.
[00:29:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Heck no, you're not taking it to a vote.
[00:29:50] [SPEAKER_01]: It's my house.
[00:29:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Were you kidding me right now?
[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Are you kidding me right now?
[00:29:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Can you get married?
[00:29:55] [SPEAKER_01]: They didn't say they're going to paint it.
[00:29:57] [SPEAKER_01]: They did.
[00:29:57] [SPEAKER_01]: They did.
[00:29:58] [SPEAKER_01]: They're still going to paint a room inside.
[00:29:59] [SPEAKER_04]: They're going to paint the house.
[00:30:01] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh yeah.
[00:30:01] [SPEAKER_04]: The house.
[00:30:01] [SPEAKER_04]: Because the backdrop of the photos was off.
[00:30:03] [SPEAKER_01]: And then she says no.
[00:30:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And they're like, we'll take it to a vote.
[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_01]: F no.
[00:30:08] [SPEAKER_01]: You're not taking it to a vote.
[00:30:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Can you imagine if all you guys came to my house?
[00:30:11] [SPEAKER_01]: You're like, what if we did this?
[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, no.
[00:30:13] [SPEAKER_01]: And you're like, we'll take it to a vote.
[00:30:14] [SPEAKER_01]: You can take it to a vote when you take over my mortgage.
[00:30:16] [SPEAKER_01]: That's exactly right.
[00:30:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Take it to a vote.
[00:30:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Get out of here.
[00:30:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Vote of one.
[00:30:22] [SPEAKER_01]: This isn't trading spaces.
[00:30:25] [SPEAKER_01]: This is ridiculous.
[00:30:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Get out of here, TLC.
[00:30:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Am I right?
[00:30:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Nailed it.
[00:30:30] [SPEAKER_01]: It's really good.
[00:30:31] [SPEAKER_00]: If you're on Philo, Brand just pointed at the learning channel.
[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he did.
[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_00]: That's right.
[00:30:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he did.
[00:30:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Which you can find on Philo.
[00:30:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Some great deep dives have been done via the TLC.
[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_01]: You're right.
[00:30:43] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure James Denton is a wonderful human being, but he went into Catherine Bell's.
[00:30:47] [SPEAKER_01]: He leaves, comes back with a metal detector, and starts digging holes in her backyard.
[00:30:54] [SPEAKER_01]: You can't.
[00:30:55] [SPEAKER_01]: He didn't ask.
[00:30:56] [SPEAKER_01]: He wasn't like, hey, can I take my metal detector out back and have some fun?
[00:31:00] [SPEAKER_01]: He didn't do that.
[00:31:01] [SPEAKER_01]: He didn't say that.
[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_01]: She just sees him outside.
[00:31:06] [SPEAKER_01]: There's crimes being committed.
[00:31:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, what you don't know is he also painted.
[00:31:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Like he's Shia LaBeouf in his prime.
[00:31:10] [SPEAKER_00]: That's right.
[00:31:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
[00:31:11] [SPEAKER_03]: In his prime.
[00:31:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:31:12] [SPEAKER_03]: He also painted the outside of the house, too.
[00:31:14] [SPEAKER_03]: That's right.
[00:31:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he took it to a vote.
[00:31:15] [SPEAKER_03]: He voted.
[00:31:16] [SPEAKER_01]: The other vote was in absentia.
[00:31:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Anybody else?
[00:31:18] [SPEAKER_01]: And so he went.
[00:31:19] [SPEAKER_03]: He went with it.
[00:31:20] [SPEAKER_03]: That's all I got, Brian.
[00:31:20] [SPEAKER_03]: It's time for what the Hallmark is for.
[00:31:22] [SPEAKER_03]: We wonder what it could have been.
[00:31:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe have it gets to clear.
[00:31:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Any questions we still have, Ryguy?
[00:31:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:31:26] [SPEAKER_00]: What would we put in the 2024 Deck the Hallmark time capsule?
[00:31:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Brian's pool cue for sure.
[00:31:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Brian's pool cue for sure.
[00:31:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's good.
[00:31:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:31:35] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I might put Ryde's horse on there.
[00:31:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:31:39] [SPEAKER_03]: The ride horse.
[00:31:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:31:40] [SPEAKER_03]: I like that.
[00:31:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Because Ryde's not coming back.
[00:31:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Some of this goldfish mix over here.
[00:31:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Was that this year?
[00:31:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Was Ryde this year?
[00:31:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Ryde was this year.
[00:31:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Are you serious?
[00:31:48] [SPEAKER_03]: No, no, no, no, no.
[00:31:49] [SPEAKER_01]: It was this year.
[00:31:49] [SPEAKER_01]: No.
[00:31:50] [SPEAKER_01]: No, it's not.
[00:31:51] [SPEAKER_01]: We had an in-memoriam at the Deckies last year.
[00:31:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Which was in January.
[00:31:55] [SPEAKER_01]: And they announced it was canceled.
[00:31:57] [SPEAKER_01]: So it would have been 2023.
[00:31:58] [SPEAKER_01]: It's 2023.
[00:31:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, 2023.
[00:31:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[00:32:00] [SPEAKER_00]: It was after season one of Way Home.
[00:32:02] [SPEAKER_03]: I know that because of the sets.
[00:32:03] [SPEAKER_03]: That's right.
[00:32:03] [SPEAKER_03]: No, you're right.
[00:32:03] [SPEAKER_03]: You're right.
[00:32:04] [SPEAKER_03]: We were still in the chairs, and this has been here since October of 23.
[00:32:07] [SPEAKER_01]: You said it.
[00:32:08] [SPEAKER_01]: No, you're right.
[00:32:08] [SPEAKER_01]: You're right.
[00:32:10] [SPEAKER_01]: No, that would be bad.
[00:32:11] [SPEAKER_01]: What else would be in our time capsule, Brian?
[00:32:13] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, our books probably.
[00:32:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Our books would be there.
[00:32:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Christmas again.
[00:32:16] [SPEAKER_03]: I'll be in for Christmas movies.
[00:32:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Still time to order those.
[00:32:18] [SPEAKER_03]: The Christmas card game.
[00:32:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Christmas movie magic.
[00:32:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:32:21] [SPEAKER_01]: For sure.
[00:32:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe a can of Dr. Pepper Zero Sugar.
[00:32:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Dr. Pepper Zero Sugar.
[00:32:26] [SPEAKER_01]: That cool hat and pipe I wore during the marathon when I got to be detected briefly.
[00:32:29] [SPEAKER_00]: That was a wild time.
[00:32:30] [SPEAKER_00]: What a wild time that was.
[00:32:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe this TV because we're due for a new one.
[00:32:33] [SPEAKER_01]: How big do you think this galvanized steel time capsule is going to be?
[00:32:36] [SPEAKER_01]: We'll do a Bayo.
[00:32:37] [SPEAKER_01]: We'll do a Bayo.
[00:32:37] [SPEAKER_00]: At least as big as the TV because you're due for a new one.
[00:32:39] [SPEAKER_00]: You got a diver.
[00:32:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Probably a Tyler Shaw.
[00:32:40] [SPEAKER_03]: A Tyler Shaw vinyl for sure.
[00:32:42] [SPEAKER_03]: We have some vinyls to spare.
[00:32:43] [SPEAKER_03]: For sure.
[00:32:44] [SPEAKER_03]: A BetterHelp subscription.
[00:32:47] [SPEAKER_03]: A Built Mastercard.
[00:32:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Skylight frames.
[00:32:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Imagine getting the time capsule out and you have a version of Silent Night that you can
[00:32:56] [SPEAKER_00]: dance to.
[00:32:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, Atlanta.
[00:32:59] [SPEAKER_03]: That'd be great.
[00:32:59] [SPEAKER_03]: That'd be great.
[00:33:00] [SPEAKER_03]: My What the Hallmark's been airs.
[00:33:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Benji, if you're listening, why'd you got to do me like that?
[00:33:05] [SPEAKER_03]: And can I ask you this quick question?
[00:33:07] [SPEAKER_03]: That yellow cardigan that you were wearing all movie, where'd you get it?
[00:33:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Do you still have it?
[00:33:11] [SPEAKER_03]: You didn't watch this movie.
[00:33:13] [SPEAKER_03]: You literally didn't watch the movie.
[00:33:14] [SPEAKER_03]: And can you send it to your boy Brand?
[00:33:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Because you got a diver and you got to give me that cardigan.
[00:33:21] [SPEAKER_03]: If you still have it.
[00:33:23] [SPEAKER_03]: If you still have it.
[00:33:24] [SPEAKER_03]: That's all I'm saying.
[00:33:25] [SPEAKER_03]: You got a diver.
[00:33:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Mine is, I think they mentioned this before and they might mention it again.
[00:33:29] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know about the third one yet, obviously.
[00:33:32] [SPEAKER_01]: But they mentioned the Cherry Lane Mall.
[00:33:34] [SPEAKER_01]: And how big is this street?
[00:33:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Because Cherry Lane isn't a neighborhood.
[00:33:39] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a road.
[00:33:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Cherry Lane.
[00:33:41] [SPEAKER_03]: It's a Cherry Lane.
[00:33:41] [SPEAKER_01]: And it turns out there is a full suburban neighborhood on this road and a mall.
[00:33:48] [SPEAKER_01]: So that's quite a road.
[00:33:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Listen, maybe it's a road and a city it could be.
[00:33:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Cherry Lane Road.
[00:33:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Wouldn't that be confusing if we were on Greenville Way?
[00:33:58] [SPEAKER_01]: There are Greenville streets in our neighborhood.
[00:33:59] [SPEAKER_01]: That would be confusing.
[00:34:01] [SPEAKER_01]: But Cherry Lane Mall to me is either confusing or this road is like Woodruff Road with a suburban
[00:34:07] [SPEAKER_01]: neighborhood in it.
[00:34:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Which is my nightmare, actually.
[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_01]: So there's that.
[00:34:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's all I got.
[00:34:13] [SPEAKER_03]: We did it, right?
[00:34:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Congratulations.
[00:34:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Ryan, you can get back to your-
[00:34:18] [SPEAKER_01]: 34 whole minutes.
[00:34:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And that was with Brian bringing up Ben Ayers' cardigan in every segment plus the synopsis.
[00:34:23] [SPEAKER_01]: That's exactly right.
[00:34:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I also feel like we did 11 minutes of pre-show chatter.
[00:34:26] [SPEAKER_00]: There was nothing.
[00:34:27] [SPEAKER_01]: This was such a nothing.
[00:34:29] [SPEAKER_01]: I wrote in my notes and never said it.
[00:34:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Roger Ebert had a very famous quote about a movie I love, The Usual Suspects.
[00:34:34] [SPEAKER_01]: To the extent that I understand, I do not care.
[00:34:36] [SPEAKER_01]: And that is me for this movie.
[00:34:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Aside from the Ben Ayers' father storyline.
[00:34:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Serge Howe getting a shout out.
[00:34:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Serge.
[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Serge.
[00:34:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Love that guy.
[00:34:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, here's the thing, everybody.
[00:34:47] [SPEAKER_03]: We're going to be back next week, right?
[00:34:48] [SPEAKER_03]: We're going to-
[00:34:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Right before we close out the year, we're going to have Ryan back and he's going to give
[00:34:53] [SPEAKER_03]: us his rundown on what he's going to do for New Year's Eve.
[00:34:56] [SPEAKER_03]: You can look forward to that.
[00:34:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:34:58] [SPEAKER_03]: It's going to be a big rundown so you can look forward to that.
[00:35:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Longer or shorter than 34 minutes?
[00:35:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Let's find out.
[00:35:02] [SPEAKER_03]: We'll be back then for that and we'll be back tomorrow with another one.
[00:35:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Until then, maybe the first to wish you a-
[00:35:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Merry Christmas!
