Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story (Hallmark Channel - 2024)

Watch on Philo! - Philo.tv/DTH

For King + Country's A Drummer Boy Christmas LIVE - in theaters December 5-9, 2024!

The movie kicks off with Alana giving us the rundown on her family. Her parents met after their parents got season tickets to Chiefs games next to each other. Over time, they fell in love and kept up the tradition of having season tickets, and eventually, Alana came along. Her family now runs a Chiefs store! Alana tells the family that next Tuesday, someone special is coming. They assume it's a boy, but she's like, "No, no. We're finalists for the Fan of the Year award! If we win, it'll be huge!"

And who is this person coming on Tuesday? It's Derrick. He's the head of fan engagement. Derrick is relatively new to the organization and to Kansas City. His coworkers encourage him to go to Norma and Nick's to get some authentic KC BBQ. He goes, and Donna Kelce is running the register. Naturally, Alana's mom is there, and when Alana walks in, she sits him down and immediately starts playing matchmaker. They invite him to come to Light the Block, which leads to him helping decorate. They spend the day talking and sharing Christmas traditions. Derrick explains that he doesn't really have any traditions because he moved around so much—he'd just write Santa a change of address card.

After Light the Block, he comes into the store and is blown away. That's when they tell him about the magic hat—they have a hat that, if worn on Christmas Day, will take them to the Super Bowl. Grandpa was given the hat from Santa way back in 1969, and Santa said, "If you wear it on Christmas Day, your Christmas wish will come true." That year, they won the Super Bowl. But Grandpa lost the hat. Fast forward to 2019, someone brings the hat into the shop to sell it. They start wearing it again, and it works! It doesn't guarantee a Super Bowl victory, but it gets them there.

Derrick expresses his doubts about the magic of the hat, and the family gets very offended and sends him on his way. The next day, he finds out that he has to go check out this amazing Chiefs store, which is a finalist for Fan of the Year. He's shocked to find out it’s Alana’s store. He walks in, and Alana is like, "You have to leave, someone from the Chiefs is coming." He responds, "It's me! Hi, I'm the problem, it's me." They show him more of the store, but Alana is just ruthless and quizzes him on his knowledge of Chiefs history, to which he fails miserably. He leaves but tells the other fan engagement folks about the hat, and they love it, especially the tie-in to Christmas.

Derrick keeps finding reasons to go back and spend more time with Alana, including hosting a Gingerbread House competition at the BBQ restaurant (maybe?).

One night, he goes to see one of the other finalists—a house that decorates with a Chiefs flair for Christmas. He goes for a walk and stumbles upon Alana’s family sitting out on the lawn drinking eggnog, so he just joins them. They end up singing Christmas songs, and Alana and Derrick hold hands!

It’s the night of the celebration for the finalists, and he comes to pick her up. They go and have a great time. He shows her the empty stadium. They sit in her family’s seats, and she shares that the one year they didn’t wear the hat was because Grandpa was in the hospital. They end up kissing!

They spend the evening walking through a Christmas festival, and the evening ends with ANOTHER KISS! They get the big news... THEY WIN! They're all going to be on the sidelines for the Christmas Day game, and it turns out it’s a MUST-WIN game!

She is at this Chiefs event and has the hat on display, but the hat goes MISSING! She’s freaking out, but what can you do? He brings over a surprise: he got the original two seats where everything started. It’s very sweet, and I tear up.

It’s at this party that it comes out that the hat is missing. The family is really understanding, though. She keeps thinking it’s going to show up, but it doesn’t, which leads to a big argument with Derrick because she thinks that the hat going missing is a sign they shouldn’t be together.

The day finally comes for the family to be honored at the game, and she isn’t sure if she’s going to come. Finally, she decides to join the family just as Derrick is coming to get her. He surprises her by giving everyone in the stadium a replica of the hat. It’s very sweet. They kiss. The crowd cheers.

They go back to their normal seats to watch the game, and magic Santa returns the hat to Alana.

[00:00:01] Hi, I'm Brian and I love Hallmark Christmas movies. I'm Brian, I like Hallmark Christmas movies. I'm Dan, I despise Hallmark Christmas movies and this is the Deck The Hallmark Podcast. Deck The Hallmark, it's this podcast. Friends host this podcast. We hope you like this jolly podcast. Well, well, well. Hello everybody. It's a big show, Brian. It's a huge show. Sunday, Sunday, Sunday. It is.

[00:00:37] We came in early on a Sunday to get started on the just massive collection of Christmas movies that have come out over the past four, five, whatever days, however long it's been happening. It doesn't matter. It's all a mush right now. But last night was the big one. Yeah, this movie finished eight hours ago. Yeah. And we gather our thoughts, which usually takes days and we were already recording this. So if Brian is a little bit off to this, we know what happened. Normally this was thoughts a little bit longer. It was his takes usually days.

[00:01:07] Usually you're somewhere in between. I liked it and I liked it. Yeah. So it's somewhere in that. And there's a big difference there that I have to sort out. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:01:14] We are talking about Holiday Touchdown Achieve's love story, of course, today to kick off the Thanksgiving week marathon that is going on.

[00:01:24] And we're going to cover them all, everybody. Yeah, we are.

[00:01:26] Every movie that's coming, including tomorrow. Tonight, Christmas Quest airs. You don't have to wait long for that either. We're going to be talking about that tomorrow.

[00:01:32] Yeah, and if you think we're doing these out of order because some movies aren't as important as others, you're right.

[00:01:39] This was a great movie to play Christmas movie magic to. Lots of fun Christmas traditions and whatnot.

[00:01:47] A precious family heirloom.

[00:01:50] Yeah, precious family heirloom.

[00:01:51] I mean, come on.

[00:01:52] And then Santa's hat does come into play. No mistletoe, but a lot going on here.

[00:01:54] That's exactly right. If you don't know what we're talking about, we have a card game that we've partnered with Think and Think Games to put out into the world this holiday season.

[00:02:01] And the early reviews are in, and they love this game.

[00:02:05] They like it.

[00:02:06] This game is so much fun to play while you're watching not just Hallmark movies, but Christmas movies of any kind.

[00:02:12] It is so much fun. It adds a little bit of a competitive flair.

[00:02:15] And I think that's what we all needed Thanksgiving week with our families.

[00:02:18] Our families all come into town, and you know you're going to be at each other's throats by the end of it anyway, so you might as well have some fun with it.

[00:02:25] And I think that's what Christmas movie magic is all about.

[00:02:28] Sure is, Brian.

[00:02:28] It's adding a little competition to the Christmas movie fun.

[00:02:31] So deckthehomeart.com slash game, you can get that today.

[00:02:36] I mean, come on.

[00:02:36] Get it today.

[00:02:37] And you can have a winner coming out of Thanksgiving weekend like you should.

[00:02:41] That's right. It's all about winning and losing. I've said it for years.

[00:02:43] It's also in a limited number of books a million.

[00:02:46] So if you've got one near you.

[00:02:47] Bam.

[00:02:48] Bam.

[00:02:48] Yeah, and I would guess there's maybe 1,000 copies left.

[00:02:51] I would guess there's maybe at this point 1,000 copies left, and then the run is done.

[00:02:55] Then the price probably goes up.

[00:02:57] It's getting down there.

[00:02:58] I just feel bad for the people who, for, you know, 1,001 who goes to buy it.

[00:03:02] But if you bought it on Amazon, leave us a review.

[00:03:04] Please leave us a review.

[00:03:06] It doesn't hurt.

[00:03:06] It actually helps.

[00:03:07] And one of the colors is a Christmas tree with colored lights.

[00:03:10] And I tell you where you can find, albeit a fake one, but a beautiful one is in downtown Greenville right now.

[00:03:14] You sure can.

[00:03:15] Right there in downtown Greenville.

[00:03:17] There's so much going on in downtown Greenville this time of the year.

[00:03:20] And it just keeps getting better.

[00:03:23] And they're bringing back the Home Alone thing where you get to experience what it was like.

[00:03:29] Home Alone 2 experience.

[00:03:31] So we did it last year.

[00:03:33] Yeah, we did.

[00:03:34] One of the best times of the year.

[00:03:35] So fun.

[00:03:36] Very, very fun.

[00:03:37] So go check that out.

[00:03:39] You can visit greenvillesc.com, and you can find out so much information.

[00:03:43] The best.

[00:03:43] So be sure that you do that.

[00:03:45] All right.

[00:03:46] This is a big show, Brian.

[00:03:47] Should we get to it?

[00:03:48] I don't want to.

[00:03:49] People are champing at the bit to see what we thought of the Kansas City Chiefs movie on the Hallmark Channel.

[00:04:00] Aaron, I don't need that look.

[00:04:01] I can see it out of my peripheral.

[00:04:03] You can feel it.

[00:04:04] I don't need it.

[00:04:04] No, Aaron's right here, I think.

[00:04:06] No, Aaron, we definitely need that look.

[00:04:07] Aaron is right on this one.

[00:04:08] Sorry, Brian.

[00:04:10] That was pretty good.

[00:04:11] Yeah.

[00:04:12] Hey, go to this one right now.

[00:04:16] Is that good?

[00:04:17] It's a big show.

[00:04:18] I think you need a little oil.

[00:04:20] It's not good.

[00:04:20] A little oil.

[00:04:21] Holiday touchdown, colon.

[00:04:23] Touchdown.

[00:04:24] A Chiefs love story.

[00:04:27] Originally aired on Hallmark Channel on November 30th, 2024, and it went a little something like this.

[00:04:32] The movie kicks off with Alana giving us the rundown on the history of her family.

[00:04:37] Her parents met after their parents got season tickets to Chiefs game.

[00:04:41] They became close friends, and over time they fell in love and kept up the tradition of having season tickets in the family.

[00:04:48] And eventually, Alana comes along, and she continues her tradition as well.

[00:04:54] They love the Kansas City Chiefs, the NFL football team.

[00:04:59] Have you heard about football?

[00:05:00] Yeah, I've heard about the football.

[00:05:01] Sweeping the nation.

[00:05:03] Her family now runs a Chiefs store with a ton of Kansas City Chiefs memorabilia.

[00:05:11] Alana tells the family that next Tuesday someone special is coming.

[00:05:18] Santa!

[00:05:19] Santa's coming, everybody!

[00:05:21] I know him!

[00:05:23] They assume that it is a boy that she is bringing by, but she's like, no, no.

[00:05:29] We are finalists for the Fan of the Year Award, and if we win, it's going to be huge.

[00:05:35] And who is this person that is coming on Tuesday to help judge this event?

[00:05:39] It is Derek.

[00:05:40] He is one of the heads of fan engagement at the Kansas City Chiefs.

[00:05:45] Derek is relatively new to the organization and to Kansas City at large.

[00:05:49] His coworkers encourage him to go to Norma and Nick's to get some authentic Kansas City barbecue.

[00:05:56] He goes.

[00:05:58] Donna Kelsey is there running the register, as she does.

[00:06:01] And naturally, Alana's mom is there because...

[00:06:03] Nothing natural about that.

[00:06:04] Well, yeah.

[00:06:05] Alana's mom is also there.

[00:06:08] It is one of the...

[00:06:10] It's all in the family.

[00:06:11] It's all you need to know.

[00:06:12] And when Alana walks in, she sits Alana down at Derek's table and immediately starts playing matchmaker.

[00:06:18] They invite him to come to light the block.

[00:06:21] Light the block!

[00:06:23] Light the block.

[00:06:24] Which leads to him helping decorate, obviously.

[00:06:28] They spend the day talking and sharing Christmas tradition.

[00:06:31] Derek brings the mood down by explaining he doesn't have traditions, aside from the one where he would send Santa a change of address card.

[00:06:39] And you thought for sure that was coming back, but it didn't.

[00:06:43] After light of the block, he comes into the store and is blown away at their fandom.

[00:06:49] That's when they tell him about the magic hat.

[00:06:52] That's right, the magic hat.

[00:06:53] It is worn on Christmas Day.

[00:06:56] And if it's worn on Christmas Day, they will go to the Super Bowl.

[00:07:00] Grandpa was given the hat by a Santa Claus way back in 1969.

[00:07:04] And Santa said, if you wear this Christmas hat, if you wear this on Christmas Day, your Christmas wish will come true.

[00:07:10] That year, they won the Super Bowl.

[00:07:12] But uh-oh, Grandpa lost the hat.

[00:07:14] Lost the hat.

[00:07:14] Fast forward to 2019.

[00:07:16] Someone brings the hat into the shop to sell it.

[00:07:20] Turns out, same hat.

[00:07:21] They start wearing it again, and it still works.

[00:07:24] Super Bowl, they make it to the Super Bowl.

[00:07:27] They make it to the Super Bowl.

[00:07:28] It's not, it doesn't guarantee a victory.

[00:07:30] Yes, players gotta do something.

[00:07:31] But, it gets them there.

[00:07:33] Dare.

[00:07:34] Dare.

[00:07:34] Gets them dare.

[00:07:35] Speaking of dare, Derek.

[00:07:36] Oh, nicely done.

[00:07:38] Derek expresses his doubts about the magic of the hat.

[00:07:41] And the family gets very offended and sends him on his way.

[00:07:44] On my way.

[00:07:45] The next day, he finds out that he has to go check out this amazing Chiefs store.

[00:07:52] Because they're finalists for Fan of the Year.

[00:07:54] He is obviously shocked to find out that it is Alana's store.

[00:07:57] He walks in and Alana's like, no!

[00:08:00] You gotta leave!

[00:08:01] Someone important from the Chiefs is coming today.

[00:08:03] And he responds, it is I!

[00:08:06] Hi!

[00:08:07] I'm the problem!

[00:08:08] It's me!

[00:08:09] They show...

[00:08:10] Very nice.

[00:08:11] Thanks, everybody.

[00:08:12] Brands version.

[00:08:13] Smooth criminal.

[00:08:14] They show him...

[00:08:15] Did she...

[00:08:16] Another classic Taylor Swift film.

[00:08:19] They show him...

[00:08:20] Trevor, are you okay?

[00:08:22] Sorry, go ahead.

[00:08:22] They show him more of the store, but Alana is just ruthless and quizzes him on his knowledge

[00:08:26] of Chiefs history, to which he fails miserably.

[00:08:30] He leaves, but tells the other fan engagement folks about the hat, which they love, especially

[00:08:36] with the tie-in to Christmas.

[00:08:38] Derek keeps finding reasons to go back to spend more time with Alana, including hosting a Chiefs-themed

[00:08:44] gingerbread house competition at the barbecue restaurant.

[00:08:47] Duh.

[00:08:48] Of course.

[00:08:49] Yeah, of course.

[00:08:49] You know.

[00:08:50] One night, he goes to see one of the other finalists, a house that decorates with a Chiefs

[00:08:56] flair for Christmas.

[00:08:57] He goes for a walk and stumbles upon Alana's family, sitting out on the lawn drinking eggnog,

[00:09:03] as you do.

[00:09:04] So he comes and joins them.

[00:09:06] They end up singing Christmas song, and Alana and Derek begin to hold hands.

[00:09:10] It's the night of the celebration for the finalists, and he comes to pick her up.

[00:09:14] They go, and they have a great time.

[00:09:16] He shows her the empty stadium, and they go, and they sit down in her family's seats.

[00:09:20] And she shares that one year, they didn't wear the hat because Grandpa was in the hospital,

[00:09:25] and they learned about, you know, the importance of the family and whatnot, and it brought them

[00:09:30] all together.

[00:09:30] But, you know, didn't wear the hat.

[00:09:32] All that happens, and they end up kissing.

[00:09:36] Also, Hallmark bought a drone.

[00:09:39] They spent the evening walking through a Christmas festival, and the evening ends with another

[00:09:46] kiss.

[00:09:46] That's right.

[00:09:47] They get big news.

[00:09:48] They win the contest.

[00:09:52] They're all going to be on the sidelines for the big Christmas Day game, and it turns out

[00:09:56] that that game is a must-win game.

[00:09:59] It's Christmas Day.

[00:10:00] Wear the hat.

[00:10:01] Gotta do it.

[00:10:02] She is at this chief's event and has the hat on display, and suddenly the hat goes missing.

[00:10:10] She's freaking out.

[00:10:11] What can you do?

[00:10:12] He brings over a surprise, though, you know, to the family get-together.

[00:10:19] He got the original two seats where everything started in this tradition.

[00:10:24] It's very sweet.

[00:10:25] I tear up.

[00:10:26] Dan?

[00:10:27] He tears up.

[00:10:30] You seem so sad about it, too, about the-

[00:10:32] When you group me with you, it does make me sad.

[00:10:35] Yeah, that's fair.

[00:10:36] That's fair.

[00:10:37] It's at this party that it comes out that the hat is missing.

[00:10:41] The family is really understanding, though.

[00:10:43] She keeps thinking that it's going to show up, fate and all that, but it doesn't, which

[00:10:47] leads to a big argument with Derek because she thinks that the hat going missing is a sign

[00:10:53] that they shouldn't be together.

[00:10:54] The day of the game finally comes, also known as Christmas Day.

[00:10:58] Yeah.

[00:10:59] Kind of takes a back burner to the game.

[00:11:01] Of course.

[00:11:01] And the family is going to be honored at the game, and she isn't sure if she's going

[00:11:07] to come because she feels so guilty about the hat.

[00:11:10] Finally, after some good advice and all that good stuff and sitting with it for a little

[00:11:15] bit, she decides that she wants to join the family.

[00:11:17] Just as Derek is coming to go to get her, to beg her to come, she comes to her senses.

[00:11:23] He surprises her by giving everybody in the stadium a replica of the hat.

[00:11:28] It's very sweet.

[00:11:30] They kiss.

[00:11:31] The crowd cheers.

[00:11:32] They go back to their normal seats because it's where they belong.

[00:11:36] Their words, not mine.

[00:11:38] To watch the game, the Magic Santa returns and gives the hat back to the family.

[00:11:47] We don't know if they win, but we're winners.

[00:11:50] And now my friends win.

[00:11:51] Yes, holiday touchdown, a Chief's love story.

[00:11:56] We did it.

[00:11:57] Maybe just say yes.

[00:11:58] We did it.

[00:11:59] Let's take a quick break.

[00:11:59] We'll come back.

[00:12:00] We'll break this movie down with four segments here on Deck the Hallmark.

[00:12:10] King or more country?

[00:12:11] What would you say?

[00:12:12] You are?

[00:12:13] Yeah.

[00:12:13] That's interesting because I disagree with you by and large.

[00:12:17] I'll tell you what we do agree on.

[00:12:18] What's that?

[00:12:19] The boys for King and Country, those brothers, they put on a show.

[00:12:22] You know what I love about their show, especially the Drummer Boy Christmas Live that's coming to theaters December 5th of the 9th?

[00:12:29] You know what I love about it?

[00:12:30] What do you love about it?

[00:12:31] It is so cinematic is the word I would use.

[00:12:34] That's right.

[00:12:34] The show that they put on, a lot of people can go on a stage, play a guitar, sing a song.

[00:12:39] Yes.

[00:12:39] And people will be like, that's fun.

[00:12:40] That's not what they do here.

[00:12:42] It is a full, full performance.

[00:12:45] They are up in the air.

[00:12:46] They are down.

[00:12:47] There's snow.

[00:12:48] Lights everywhere.

[00:12:52] Absolutely is fit for the big screen.

[00:12:54] So be sure to check out a Drummer Boy Christmas Live, the cinematic concert experience.

[00:12:59] It is coming to movie theaters near you for five nights only, December 5th through the 9th.

[00:13:04] You are going to want to check it out.

[00:13:06] Go right now.

[00:13:08] Get your tickets.

[00:13:09] Limited showings.

[00:13:10] Limited showings.

[00:13:11] So make sure that you check it out.

[00:13:12] A Drummer Boy Christmas Live.

[00:13:20] Welcome back, everybody.

[00:13:21] We're talking about Holiday Touchdown, a Chief's love story, a movie that has been

[00:13:26] promoted nonstop for the past six months.

[00:13:29] Big news, big movie, big stars.

[00:13:33] Can it live up to the hype?

[00:13:34] That's what we're here to talk about.

[00:13:36] There's just no way, right?

[00:13:36] There's no way.

[00:13:37] The hype train has left the station.

[00:13:39] It's through the stratosphere.

[00:13:40] I think that the only way to figure this out, Dan, is by sharing our hot takes.

[00:13:45] I love that plan.

[00:13:46] There's no one that I would trust to sort this out more than my good friend, Brian.

[00:13:52] Brian, you're a hot taker.

[00:13:53] That's what people say about you.

[00:13:55] Dan says that your takes go from anywhere from I like it to I liked it.

[00:13:59] So let's find out if you liked it.

[00:14:01] Quite range.

[00:14:02] Brian, what did you think of Holiday Touchdown, a Chief's love story?

[00:14:05] This just in, Brian.

[00:14:07] It's good.

[00:14:07] Oh!

[00:14:09] I liked it.

[00:14:10] I liked it.

[00:14:11] The anticipation, like you said, the anticipation, so high.

[00:14:14] Ridiculous amount of it.

[00:14:16] To live up to that would be impossible.

[00:14:18] Basically impossible.

[00:14:19] They did the impossible, though.

[00:14:21] I think this...

[00:14:22] You didn't even say you loved it?

[00:14:25] Yeah, I guess I'm bordering on I loved it.

[00:14:26] I loved it.

[00:14:27] Sure, I'll say I loved it.

[00:14:29] Really, I mean, there's nothing to complain about with this one, really, except for not being

[00:14:35] a big Chiefs fan and having Chiefs shoved in your face the whole time.

[00:14:39] Yeah.

[00:14:39] Sure.

[00:14:40] But, like, I guess you have to separate all the promotion and everything around it with

[00:14:45] the thing that it is.

[00:14:46] And it's easy to do it when you avoid the commercials and things, but it was just promoted everywhere,

[00:14:52] and as they should have.

[00:14:53] Like, a lot of people should see this movie.

[00:14:55] I think they did a really good job.

[00:14:58] Clearly written by a sports fan, a football fan, specifically.

[00:15:01] You could tell Julie Sherman Wolf was...

[00:15:04] I bet her first draft was all 49ers alum.

[00:15:07] Yeah.

[00:15:08] And then you just insert Kansas City Chiefs here.

[00:15:11] You know she was picturing Joe Montana throwing the football at the carnival.

[00:15:15] Joe Montana played for the Chiefs.

[00:15:17] He did.

[00:15:18] Oh, he did?

[00:15:18] Yeah.

[00:15:19] Okay, that would have worked.

[00:15:20] It would have worked great.

[00:15:21] I bet it was in a draft.

[00:15:22] You had to have been in a draft.

[00:15:23] And I think, like, there's no question about this.

[00:15:28] Like, an ensemble just works, like, all the time.

[00:15:30] Like, ensembles kill.

[00:15:32] Like, even if it's a matter of maybe, like, five fewer movies and more ensemble movies,

[00:15:37] that's what we should do.

[00:15:38] Like, the ensembles are crushing.

[00:15:41] And the overbearing family bit was super funny.

[00:15:44] I don't think it was too much.

[00:15:45] I don't think it was...

[00:15:46] I think it was just, like, the right amount.

[00:15:48] I don't know.

[00:15:48] There's some silly little things to nitpick, but they...

[00:15:51] I mean, they just nailed it.

[00:15:53] They just nailed it with this one.

[00:15:54] Best of the year?

[00:15:55] One of the best of the year.

[00:15:56] It's not my top movie.

[00:15:58] Wow.

[00:15:58] Yeah, I still have...

[00:15:59] Carol for Two is my favorite movie of the year right now.

[00:16:01] Oh, my God.

[00:16:02] My personal favorite.

[00:16:03] Yeah.

[00:16:03] But this is two or three.

[00:16:06] I haven't done the math on my ranking numbers.

[00:16:08] But, yeah.

[00:16:10] Yeah.

[00:16:10] And that's a me thing.

[00:16:11] Like, that's...

[00:16:12] I know it probably is just the best of the year.

[00:16:14] And for me, I think I would watch Carol for Two again over this.

[00:16:18] But, I mean, this would roll right into this one.

[00:16:20] Yeah.

[00:16:21] I mean, roll right in.

[00:16:21] Roll right in.

[00:16:22] Wouldn't even take a bathroom break.

[00:16:23] Take a two for...

[00:16:24] Yeah.

[00:16:26] This is a perfect movie.

[00:16:28] This movie's perfect.

[00:16:29] It's a perfect Hallmark Christmas movie.

[00:16:32] I had some concerns going into it, obviously.

[00:16:36] You know, that there would be...

[00:16:38] It'd be too gimmicky.

[00:16:40] And there are the occasional time where, as somebody who not only doesn't care about the Chiefs,

[00:16:47] I also don't really care about football, where that kind of was like, you know, I don't care about these old Chiefs players.

[00:16:52] But it's nice.

[00:16:53] You know, I see it.

[00:16:54] I'm like, that's nice.

[00:16:55] That's nice that that happened.

[00:16:57] Sure.

[00:16:57] But I love the story.

[00:17:01] The story is so good.

[00:17:03] To your point, the ensemble is wonderful.

[00:17:05] I teared up.

[00:17:07] It's beautiful.

[00:17:08] It's funny.

[00:17:09] And I think my only concern is if you are somebody who not only doesn't like sports but doesn't know anybody who really likes sports,

[00:17:20] this story of somebody who believes so wholeheartedly about a magic hat helping bring a team to the Super Bowl,

[00:17:29] you could look at that and be like, that's silly.

[00:17:31] But we all know people.

[00:17:33] We all know people that that's their thing.

[00:17:36] Like, I'm kind of that way.

[00:17:39] Like, if I got a hat and I wore it on Christmas Day and my team wore the Super Bowl,

[00:17:44] I'd give it a shot the next year.

[00:17:46] And if it happens again, are you kidding me right now?

[00:17:48] Also.

[00:17:48] For sure.

[00:17:49] Dan, you were watching the Yankees and you stopped wearing your jersey.

[00:17:53] And that's the reason.

[00:17:54] No, I got it and they still lost.

[00:17:55] It's fine.

[00:17:56] But earlier I did.

[00:17:57] You're right.

[00:17:58] And we'll always be wondering.

[00:18:00] I wonder what would have happened if he didn't stop wearing it.

[00:18:04] Of course.

[00:18:04] So as somebody who is superstitious about nothing aside from sports, this hit it for me.

[00:18:12] This crush.

[00:18:13] Because it is silly.

[00:18:15] And there's Tyler Hines who's like, this is silly.

[00:18:18] It's dumb.

[00:18:19] And he's right.

[00:18:20] But also, the family's perfect.

[00:18:23] They're right.

[00:18:24] It all works.

[00:18:25] This movie crushes it.

[00:18:28] And I think whether you're somebody who's a massive football fan or a massive Hallmark fan or a massive sports fan,

[00:18:36] it doesn't matter which of those camps you lie in.

[00:18:38] This movie is a really good meeting place for everybody.

[00:18:43] It's a great – it's the perfect Saturday after Thanksgiving movie because it is one of these movies where you can turn on the family and turn it on with the family.

[00:18:50] And everybody, I think, will have a good time.

[00:18:53] Perfect Hallmark Christmas movie.

[00:18:54] Best of the year.

[00:18:55] And it's a perfect 10.

[00:18:57] It's a perfect 10 for Bran.

[00:18:58] Dano?

[00:18:59] Yeah.

[00:18:59] Bran is 100% right here.

[00:19:01] This is the best of the year.

[00:19:03] And it's not particularly close.

[00:19:05] I would even push back on Bran's problem with the hat.

[00:19:08] And here's why.

[00:19:09] It's because everything he said is right.

[00:19:11] But this movie establishes that it is, in fact, a magic hat.

[00:19:15] They don't tell you that these people are crazy superstitious.

[00:19:19] They go to the painstaking detail like they do in a real – like a Hallmark Christmas movie that isn't about sports where there's a magic Santa who's making things happen.

[00:19:28] This is, in fact, a magic hat.

[00:19:30] It is not a – like they are superstitious about it, but at the end of the movie we find out Santa –

[00:19:35] It is at the very least a hat from a magic Santa.

[00:19:38] That's right.

[00:19:39] Yes.

[00:19:39] That clearly is given to them whenever they need it most.

[00:19:44] Listen, guys.

[00:19:46] Ed Begley Jr., who hasn't been mentioned yet, is – protect him at all costs.

[00:19:52] Yeah.

[00:19:52] This guy is so good.

[00:19:54] If you think – I would disagree that all ensembles work, but an ensemble with this amount of talent in it, oh, my gosh.

[00:20:01] Are you kidding me right now?

[00:20:02] If the writing was bad, this ensemble would carry this movie.

[00:20:06] Tyler Hines, in this season we're in where we're getting six Tyler Hines movies in six weeks.

[00:20:13] Six in six weeks.

[00:20:15] Is that true?

[00:20:16] Yeah.

[00:20:16] We're getting three groomsmen.

[00:20:18] Oh, that's right.

[00:20:18] Three wiser men.

[00:20:20] This.

[00:20:20] I forgot about the groomsmen.

[00:20:21] And I feel like there was another one we got.

[00:20:23] Maybe it's just five.

[00:20:24] Five and six weeks.

[00:20:25] Excuse me.

[00:20:26] In the season of Tyler Hines that we have right now, he fits great in this ensemble.

[00:20:31] He doesn't – this is not a Tyler Hines vehicle.

[00:20:35] And he's so good.

[00:20:37] Hunter King is so good.

[00:20:39] All of the, like, secondary roles in this family are amazing.

[00:20:44] They all crush it.

[00:20:46] The scene with the seats, forget about it.

[00:20:49] The way that they depict sports fans, unbelievable.

[00:20:53] Unbelievable.

[00:20:54] Like, the chemistry here works.

[00:20:56] And then Julie Sherman Wolf, the writing is amazing for this movie.

[00:21:00] This is a very typical traditional Hallmark movie.

[00:21:04] I love what they've done here.

[00:21:05] They took advantage of the Chiefs being in the spotlight around the world and they used it to their advantage.

[00:21:12] There is a little bit of a stunt cast with Donna Kelsey, but the rest of this movie works as a movie that is a Hallmark Christmas movie.

[00:21:20] I can't tell you how good this movie is, especially compared to what we've seen so far.

[00:21:26] I don't know if it reaches the upper echelons of, like, a Round and Round or a Ghost of Christmas always.

[00:21:31] But so far this year, it's the best – oh, my goodness.

[00:21:35] I don't know who could come to this movie and not enjoy it.

[00:21:39] It is a really, really good time.

[00:21:40] And with all of the fanfare and all of the promotion that this movie had for it to deliver, it's even more impressive.

[00:21:51] Really well done.

[00:21:51] You liked the movie?

[00:21:52] I did like the movie.

[00:21:53] Damn!

[00:21:55] Oh, here he goes.

[00:21:56] Damn!

[00:22:01] I like Christmas with the Sings, too.

[00:22:02] I didn't get anything, but that's okay.

[00:22:04] We'll fix that in post.

[00:22:06] Yeah.

[00:22:06] Brands erased.

[00:22:07] I'm sure we did.

[00:22:08] Whoa, hold on.

[00:22:11] It's time for all the feels before we talk about what in this movie game is feels.

[00:22:15] Let's talk about it, right?

[00:22:17] Yeah.

[00:22:17] I mean, I'm not going to use the seats as mine because it just unequivocally was the greatest feels.

[00:22:25] It was one of the best feels in the movie of the season as well.

[00:22:29] Phenomenal moment.

[00:22:30] But for me, the real feels was that scene in the fan cave where they were going through the scenarios of who has to win, who has to lose for them to get.

[00:22:38] And that took me right back.

[00:22:40] I used to listen to a lot of sports talk radio at Sports Hub in Boston.

[00:22:43] I mean, the B's just fired their coach.

[00:22:45] I know.

[00:22:45] Big news.

[00:22:46] Big news.

[00:22:47] Big news.

[00:22:48] Some of us saw it coming.

[00:22:49] It was still big news.

[00:22:50] Two years after doing it.

[00:22:52] Yeah.

[00:22:53] And a phenomenal record.

[00:22:55] What was it like so far?

[00:22:56] Just, yeah, big news.

[00:22:57] But it felt like sports talk.

[00:22:59] It felt like fans fanning out, like being critical.

[00:23:02] That's because the writing was so good.

[00:23:03] Yeah.

[00:23:03] So authentic.

[00:23:04] And so that just moment of them, how fast they were going with who had to win, who had to lose.

[00:23:08] They didn't care that most people were going to get lost and not be able to keep up.

[00:23:12] And they just did it and it worked great.

[00:23:15] And that was sort of like a signal of the rest of the movie, the way that they did sports in this movie.

[00:23:20] It was just authentic.

[00:23:22] Just really authentic.

[00:23:23] The authenticity through the roof here.

[00:23:25] So that was great.

[00:23:26] Yeah.

[00:23:27] Yeah.

[00:23:28] I mean, you know, knew early on that old Eddie Bags over there was going to deliver scene after scene of just heavy hitting feels.

[00:23:38] When they do this thing where they come into the kitchen, he says, you know, the thing I love most about making eggnogs.

[00:23:45] Every year is not being able to read this recipe.

[00:23:48] It's the best.

[00:23:48] And it's like this really sweet, like I'm the little things you miss about someone when they're gone.

[00:23:55] The little things that you don't really think about while someone's with you and then they're gone and you go in there.

[00:24:02] Like I felt it.

[00:24:04] And it was such a little throwaway moment.

[00:24:08] And they kept coming back to the bit.

[00:24:10] But just that line, it just I was like, oh, we're in for it now.

[00:24:14] We are in for it and it's going to happen fast and often.

[00:24:18] And I'd let it.

[00:24:19] I'd let it.

[00:24:20] Ed could come in and do this any day of the week.

[00:24:24] And I would be okay with it.

[00:24:26] Perfect.

[00:24:27] Perfect.

[00:24:27] Dana.

[00:24:28] So he delivers these seats that Ed Begley and his now deceased wife used to sit in.

[00:24:35] And that first scene is really great in the seats.

[00:24:37] It's really like when I when they unveil the seats, I knew what was happening.

[00:24:40] Full chills.

[00:24:41] Great.

[00:24:42] That's not the scene.

[00:24:43] That's the scene where Bran teared up.

[00:24:44] I held it together pretty well there.

[00:24:46] They come back to the seats and he sits with Hunter King and he talks about like memories.

[00:24:54] And like what the you know, what these seats mean and also implores his granddaughter to

[00:25:02] like enjoy it.

[00:25:04] Enjoy her time and to make her own memories.

[00:25:07] And that is something that you see a lot in Hallmark.

[00:25:09] It's never something that's done as well as it was done in this movie.

[00:25:12] Like it brought the reason that scene really just like whenever I like my kids are amazing,

[00:25:18] but I always think that my grandfather, who's one of my heroes, would have just gotten the

[00:25:22] biggest kick out of my kids.

[00:25:24] Like he would have thought they were just I mean, like and I thinking about that is like

[00:25:31] something that brings me great joy.

[00:25:32] It should bring me great sadness.

[00:25:34] But thinking about what could have been because I did get to experience my grandfather and

[00:25:38] hopefully and my kids have gotten to experience their grandfather.

[00:25:40] That's awesome.

[00:25:41] And and I think Ed Begley does this in such a way that's like the memories were there for

[00:25:46] me.

[00:25:47] They were great when they're happened.

[00:25:47] They're great now.

[00:25:48] And you're great now as my granddaughter and you continue to do that.

[00:25:52] And, you know, if there was like a kid's book brand that talked about memories with,

[00:25:58] you know, with with your kids, I mean, like, you know, if there was one of those available,

[00:26:03] like for a really reasonable price on Amazon, you know, maybe talk about when's it going

[00:26:09] to be Christmas?

[00:26:09] Oh, my God.

[00:26:10] Grand Daniel Thompson.

[00:26:11] Oh, my goodness.

[00:26:11] It's right there.

[00:26:12] That's how you sell a feels feels and capitalism alive and well.

[00:26:16] That's right.

[00:26:17] Also, it goes without saying, because I think people are expecting me to say this, but I

[00:26:21] do think it.

[00:26:22] Hey, Chiefs, change your name and change Arrowhead Stadium's name, please.

[00:26:25] Thank you.

[00:26:25] That's it.

[00:26:25] Go ahead.

[00:26:26] We'll be right back here.

[00:26:27] And it is time for the way.

[00:26:40] What is where we talk about what in this movie made us go?

[00:26:42] Wait, what Brian?

[00:26:44] Yeah.

[00:26:45] A couple of just little things, really.

[00:26:48] Something that caught my eye was the fan engagement.

[00:26:50] I guess he's a director, which is a pretty high level, but still fan engagement.

[00:26:54] He gets a view of the practice field, huh?

[00:26:56] Yeah.

[00:26:56] And he's not the he's not.

[00:26:58] There's someone above him.

[00:26:59] Yeah.

[00:27:00] Yeah.

[00:27:00] I assume like a senior VP or senior man or senior director, but he's he's a director

[00:27:06] level director, which and he's sitting there just staring out the practice field.

[00:27:10] Pretty good seat.

[00:27:11] Pretty good view for a fan engagement personnel.

[00:27:15] That's right.

[00:27:16] Yeah.

[00:27:16] Also, the directors out there doing these fan like this is an intern job, right?

[00:27:21] Like this is the only part of this entire I mean, interrupt you.

[00:27:24] The only part of this entire movie that rings false to me is when Tyler gets with his boss

[00:27:29] and two other employees to talk shop.

[00:27:31] Yeah.

[00:27:31] That is the only thing in this movie.

[00:27:33] And in this movie, there's about five to seven minutes of that.

[00:27:36] Yeah.

[00:27:36] And just just hold your nose and deal with it.

[00:27:39] It's not great.

[00:27:40] It isn't great.

[00:27:41] It like in a in a lesser movie, I'd be just killing that.

[00:27:45] It isn't.

[00:27:45] It doesn't pass the test, the corporate test.

[00:27:48] It doesn't pass the football test.

[00:27:50] It passed passes zero tests.

[00:27:52] Yeah.

[00:27:52] It just does.

[00:27:53] So that was a little silly.

[00:27:55] Just the business, the business part of it.

[00:27:58] So they're drinking their eggnog warm in that household.

[00:28:01] OK.

[00:28:01] All right.

[00:28:02] I guess that's a decision you you make for you and your family.

[00:28:05] And they're all on the same page, which is great for them.

[00:28:07] It's unbelievable.

[00:28:08] Nobody's like ice cold eggnog.

[00:28:09] I think.

[00:28:10] And there was a scene when Tyler, he gives his suite to that family, the three of the

[00:28:15] mother, father and daughter.

[00:28:17] And I'm pretty sure what I heard was the guy says, thank you.

[00:28:20] And Tyler goes, I will.

[00:28:22] And I think it was a cut and edit thing that was just a real.

[00:28:24] I rewound it.

[00:28:25] I'm like.

[00:28:26] Thank you.

[00:28:26] I will.

[00:28:26] Thank you.

[00:28:27] I will.

[00:28:28] Thank you.

[00:28:29] I hope that's what happened because I need a wait.

[00:28:32] What?

[00:28:32] We need a legit wait.

[00:28:33] What?

[00:28:34] You know, it's a one little thing.

[00:28:35] I will.

[00:28:36] And he just presented the fan of the year trophy without social media team, without

[00:28:41] cameras, with nothing.

[00:28:42] Not a picture taken.

[00:28:43] There was not even an announcement.

[00:28:44] He just shows up.

[00:28:44] He just shows up.

[00:28:45] Guess what you won?

[00:28:46] That just.

[00:28:47] Seems like a lot of money went into that for no reason.

[00:28:50] Yeah.

[00:28:50] Not in this day and age.

[00:28:51] Yeah.

[00:28:51] That was it for me.

[00:28:52] That was one of mine for sure.

[00:28:53] I only have a couple.

[00:28:55] One, you know, they're having a gingerbread house at the barbecue restaurant.

[00:28:59] And I'm sure it can happen.

[00:29:02] And, you know, it's fun.

[00:29:05] But it's a barbecue restaurant.

[00:29:07] Yeah.

[00:29:07] They get some barbecue to serve.

[00:29:09] Now, are we making a gingerbread house out of barbecue?

[00:29:13] Is that what we're doing?

[00:29:14] We're talking about an upgrade.

[00:29:15] Let's talk about that.

[00:29:17] We can talk about that.

[00:29:18] Debbie's jealous there.

[00:29:20] Can you imagine getting word you see, you know, you're reading Greenville today or whatever

[00:29:24] you're scrolling and you're like, it's a gingerbread house at the barbecue restaurant.

[00:29:29] Oh, wow.

[00:29:30] I mean, I'm not mad about it, but why?

[00:29:32] Cornbread walls, barbecue.

[00:29:34] Oh, man.

[00:29:36] Donna Kelsey's going to give it to you all herself.

[00:29:39] Don't worry.

[00:29:40] She's going to bring out the tray and you can have whatever you want to.

[00:29:43] In the weight water of the season for me, and mainly just because I found it to be so

[00:29:49] funny is, you know, they go and they look at he goes with his team to look at the Christmas

[00:29:56] lighthouse with the Kansas City Chiefs.

[00:29:58] And he's like, I'm just going to walk, which is amazing.

[00:30:01] Like, I guess that's, you know, things they don't tell you about Kansas City is such a walkable.

[00:30:08] No matter where you live, you just can, you can walk there.

[00:30:11] So he's walking around.

[00:30:14] Unbeknownst to him, the family that he's been hanging out with for the last week, they live

[00:30:20] two streets away, which is great.

[00:30:22] And so he sees them and is like, oh, what are you guys doing?

[00:30:25] It's crazy.

[00:30:25] He sits down.

[00:30:27] And I'm sure the conversations that were had around this fire were meaningful and wonderful,

[00:30:33] but I couldn't focus with all of the extras walking in the background.

[00:30:39] So many people walking.

[00:30:39] Like it's Halloween and they're trick-or-treating.

[00:30:42] This is a neighborhood and it is nighttime and people are just walking around like it's

[00:30:47] a big, like, like they're in the big city.

[00:30:49] You know, like they're walking around the streets.

[00:30:51] Guys, I, we live in a neighborhood.

[00:30:54] People walk, but if you are walking and you see like 10, 20 people walking up and down

[00:31:01] the street, you're going to be like, something's happening.

[00:31:02] Yeah.

[00:31:02] What's going on out there?

[00:31:03] Something's going on in the neighborhood.

[00:31:05] My team on the street.

[00:31:05] Something is happening.

[00:31:06] And I know, like, I don't know if their excuse for this was it's two houses away from

[00:31:13] the Chiefs thing.

[00:31:14] Two streets.

[00:31:14] Two streets away from the Chiefs thing.

[00:31:16] And so maybe that's what it was.

[00:31:18] Yeah.

[00:31:18] I don't know.

[00:31:19] But I found it to be hilarious.

[00:31:20] And the only thing I can assume is they, they had too many extras that day and they were

[00:31:25] like, just keep walking.

[00:31:27] Keep walking.

[00:31:28] Pace it.

[00:31:29] It was so funny to me.

[00:31:31] And I, I, I honestly, I can't put my finger on why I found it to be so funny that there

[00:31:36] were so many people walking in this neighborhood, but I did.

[00:31:38] Dano?

[00:31:39] I focus on something completely different in that same scene.

[00:31:42] Two things.

[00:31:42] One is they are not in Kansas City.

[00:31:44] They're in Independence, Missouri.

[00:31:46] That is what they say at the beginning of this.

[00:31:48] And it just so happens that the three finalists for fan of the year, one of them is a cat

[00:31:52] and the other two both live in Independence, Missouri.

[00:31:56] Talking about Catrick Mahomes?

[00:31:57] Catrick Mahomes.

[00:31:57] Shout out.

[00:31:58] Put some respect.

[00:31:58] So you mean to tell me the Kansas City Chiefs did a search of the greater Kansas City area

[00:32:04] and both finalists for the fan of the year lived two streets apart in the small town

[00:32:11] of Independence, Missouri?

[00:32:12] That's crazy.

[00:32:13] And then when Tyler Hines shows up, shows up to the family's house, it's fate, you said

[00:32:19] it.

[00:32:19] When Tyler Hines shows up to the family's house, they already have a chair out for him,

[00:32:23] which is great.

[00:32:24] They weren't expecting any company.

[00:32:25] They always have an extra chair.

[00:32:26] Do you always pull one extra out for the Holy Ghost?

[00:32:28] Is that what you're doing?

[00:32:29] Well, what apparently we found out is that when there's 50 to 75 people walking down the

[00:32:34] street, some might come over.

[00:32:37] You throw one out.

[00:32:38] That's right.

[00:32:39] You know, you never know who it was.

[00:32:40] Throw one out for a homie.

[00:32:40] That's right.

[00:32:41] You never know.

[00:32:41] Obviously, the biggest weight one of this movie is Donna Kelsey.

[00:32:44] Listen, Donna Kelsey is not an actor.

[00:32:47] And she seems like she's having the time of her life and she loves Hallmark movies.

[00:32:51] No one's here to denigrate the great Donna Kelsey.

[00:32:54] You sure?

[00:32:54] Um, she didn't need six scenes.

[00:32:57] I just like that's if I have a six scenes.

[00:33:02] There are six times.

[00:33:04] She shows up.

[00:33:05] Tyler.

[00:33:05] I don't know.

[00:33:06] Six weeks.

[00:33:06] I know that like, do you count?

[00:33:09] Let me ask you this.

[00:33:10] Do you count?

[00:33:11] They order at the counter with her and then they sit down and they're having another conversation

[00:33:15] and she comes over.

[00:33:17] Is that two scenes or one scene?

[00:33:18] I would say that's one scene.

[00:33:19] Well, I think that's where I don't disagree with you.

[00:33:21] Okay.

[00:33:21] So if you don't like if you count it like I'm counting it, there's six.

[00:33:26] If not, it's probably three or four.

[00:33:29] Yeah.

[00:33:30] Regardless, every time she shows up, it takes me completely out of this movie.

[00:33:33] And, and it's not like Donna, God bless her.

[00:33:36] And she gets to be in a Philadelphia movie too.

[00:33:39] Awesome.

[00:33:39] So happy for her.

[00:33:40] She seems like a lovely lady.

[00:33:42] This movie's so good.

[00:33:43] I was mad when she showed up six times.

[00:33:46] I, one time take an order or give that one line about like, Hey, just let it work itself

[00:33:51] out.

[00:33:52] Or like put patients.

[00:33:53] Take it from me.

[00:33:53] Winky face.

[00:33:54] That's right.

[00:33:54] My boys.

[00:33:55] Yeah.

[00:33:56] That could happen to you too.

[00:33:58] Like that one line is really kind of all we need to get it.

[00:34:02] Um, and then, you know, you got Trent, uh, chiefs players, but it's like, if you don't

[00:34:08] know the chiefs very well, you're just like, who is this bad actor in this movie?

[00:34:13] And that was kind of weird, uh, that that happened.

[00:34:15] I will say another, uh, fun thing about this movie is Hunter King has three of her four

[00:34:20] grandparents still alive, which is the Hallmark lottery.

[00:34:23] I don't think amazing.

[00:34:25] I don't think any Hallmark leading lady has ever had three grandparents alive before.

[00:34:30] That's true.

[00:34:31] Yeah.

[00:34:31] That's pretty good.

[00:34:31] That's like a real life four of four.

[00:34:33] That's like, I mean, you lose one to the card there.

[00:34:36] I mean, like you, you, you're not going to get all four.

[00:34:39] No, you can't three of four.

[00:34:40] That's crazy, right?

[00:34:41] That's a crazy amount.

[00:34:43] I think it's one too many.

[00:34:45] Yeah.

[00:34:45] Um, and also you don't need those ones.

[00:34:47] Yeah.

[00:34:47] Two is, I mean like that's more than believable.

[00:34:49] I mean, most get one at best.

[00:34:51] Yeah.

[00:34:51] Um, the family, when they find out she lost the hat and when the, the stands finds out she

[00:34:59] lost the hat, both groups take that remarkably well.

[00:35:04] Mm-hmm.

[00:35:05] I would say better.

[00:35:06] The thing about people taking sports as seriously as they take it is, is they get real upset

[00:35:11] about really silly things and they don't have to take, they don't have the ability to take

[00:35:15] a deep breath and go, this is silly.

[00:35:16] They just, they're rash.

[00:35:17] They do something stupid and they don't realize how silly they're being over a team that doesn't

[00:35:21] actually know them personally.

[00:35:23] I can't imagine no believing that this Christmas hat is a guaranteed Superbowl trip.

[00:35:30] And then hearing that it was lost and being like, you know, family's really what matters

[00:35:35] in the moment.

[00:35:37] Yeah.

[00:35:38] In the moment.

[00:35:38] Like later.

[00:35:39] Yeah.

[00:35:40] Can you imagine if this happened at the Eagle stadium?

[00:35:42] Yeah.

[00:35:42] I mean, if the Eagles fans are throwing snowballs at Santa, what are they going to do to that

[00:35:47] family?

[00:35:47] Dude.

[00:35:48] Yeah.

[00:35:48] They won't make it out alive.

[00:35:49] No, they wouldn't make it out alive.

[00:35:50] Rafters would be in full.

[00:35:52] Glass beer bottles.

[00:35:53] And I say this, I say this knowing full well that Eagles fans right now listening are going,

[00:35:58] yep.

[00:35:58] Yep.

[00:35:59] They had it coming.

[00:36:00] They just.

[00:36:01] They had it coming.

[00:36:02] What were you supposed to do?

[00:36:03] Yeah.

[00:36:03] It's a magic hat.

[00:36:04] She lost the magic hat.

[00:36:05] Come on.

[00:36:06] Yeah.

[00:36:07] And then the green screen at Arrowhead was real bad, guys.

[00:36:09] Yeah.

[00:36:09] It was, we did the best we could.

[00:36:10] The best we could wasn't good enough.

[00:36:12] It was bad.

[00:36:12] That's all I got.

[00:36:13] It's time for what the hallmark is where we wonder what could have been.

[00:36:17] Maybe have some clarity.

[00:36:18] Any questions that we still have?

[00:36:19] What are we still wondering about?

[00:36:20] That's what this segment's for, Brian.

[00:36:23] Yeah.

[00:36:23] I had three and you just made me think of one that is taking over.

[00:36:27] So you have to four?

[00:36:28] Now I get four.

[00:36:29] I'm just doing one.

[00:36:31] You can't have more of what the hallmark is in.

[00:36:33] Hunter King has grandparents in this movie.

[00:36:35] No, I'm going to go with the one I just thought of.

[00:36:36] And it's, is there a scene on the cutting room floor of her family going nuts when she leaves

[00:36:43] the room?

[00:36:43] Like where they tear apart that fan cage.

[00:36:45] That's the scene I want.

[00:36:46] Yes.

[00:36:47] That would have been hilarious.

[00:36:48] Like just the grandfather, the dad going nuts, lifting up chairs, throwing stuff around.

[00:36:53] And then just.

[00:36:53] That would have been funny.

[00:36:54] That would have been real funny.

[00:36:54] That would have been funny.

[00:36:55] So did that happen?

[00:36:55] Was it even thought of?

[00:36:56] That would have been great.

[00:36:57] So Dan, you mentioned Mama Kelsey.

[00:37:01] Mama Kelsey.

[00:37:02] There she goes again.

[00:37:03] I think the question that I have is what universe is this?

[00:37:09] Does this movie take place in?

[00:37:10] I don't think she's Donna Kelsey in the movie.

[00:37:12] I think she just works at Nick and Norma's.

[00:37:14] That's the interesting thing here is, is like, but there's also no, we don't see Travis.

[00:37:18] We don't see any of the big players.

[00:37:20] But we do see Andy Reid.

[00:37:21] We do see Andy Reid.

[00:37:22] Nicole Hardman and Trey Smith.

[00:37:24] Thank you very much.

[00:37:25] They also are playing the Eagles on Christmas Day.

[00:37:29] They're not playing the Eagles on Christmas Day in real life.

[00:37:32] They're playing the Steelers.

[00:37:33] Well, the reason they did Eagles is because Donna Kelsey had boys on both teams.

[00:37:37] In this world, she doesn't have to choose.

[00:37:39] She just gets to be, I guess, a Chiefs fan.

[00:37:42] But if she's not anyone's mom, I mean, I'm sure she's someone's mom.

[00:37:45] I don't know about this character.

[00:37:46] She doesn't have to be.

[00:37:47] But I just, what is the universe?

[00:37:50] What is the universe?

[00:37:54] What's her team?

[00:37:55] If she doesn't have kids on the teams, what's her team?

[00:37:57] What's her team?

[00:38:00] She's a Chiefs fan in this movie.

[00:38:01] I bet in the next movie.

[00:38:02] My other, what the Hallmark is, you know, they are striking the iron while it is hot with the Chiefs fandom and the terrorists.

[00:38:12] They get that hot iron and they strike it.

[00:38:14] But we also know a couple of things.

[00:38:17] A.

[00:38:17] Iron struck.

[00:38:18] A.

[00:38:20] Hallmark is based out of Kansas City.

[00:38:22] That's right.

[00:38:22] B.

[00:38:23] B.

[00:38:24] They take notoriously a long time to get anything up and running.

[00:38:30] So was this something that they had been planning for a little while and then it just kind of worked out perfectly?

[00:38:38] Man, that.

[00:38:39] Because it's not only, it's not, it's like it's their hometown team as a company and it's not just like they did it and it happened.

[00:38:49] But they had a full partnership with the Chiefs and the NFL.

[00:38:52] Like that stuff takes time too.

[00:38:54] Like how did all this come to?

[00:38:55] I remember Julie Shermer Wolf, who I talked to, we were doing Hallmark movie drafts and she said that after Tyler and Hunter made that little fake trailer, that got the ball rolling and she got contact and had to write the draft pretty quickly.

[00:39:09] But they didn't start working on this until after that.

[00:39:12] I don't think any of it until after that.

[00:39:13] But that short was still.

[00:39:15] It wasn't Hunter, it was somebody else.

[00:39:16] That short was still sanctioned though.

[00:39:18] It was a sanction.

[00:39:20] Was it?

[00:39:21] I didn't watch it.

[00:39:22] No, they had all the Chiefs logos and it was like they had access to the.

[00:39:26] It's a full on NFL thing.

[00:39:26] Yeah, it was a full on thing.

[00:39:27] It was a spoof.

[00:39:28] Oh, then I don't know.

[00:39:29] So that's like part of it, you know?

[00:39:33] Yeah.

[00:39:34] My What the Hallmark, I have asked and answered already by our writer Julie Shermer Wolf and I kept it because.

[00:39:41] You kept it?

[00:39:42] I kept it because I wanted to talk about Julie because we got to like her, but also because I loved her answer to the question.

[00:39:49] In this movie, they explain the playoff scenarios for the Chiefs.

[00:39:51] And one of them is if the Dolphins win, that makes it tougher on the Chiefs to get in the playoffs.

[00:39:58] As you know, I'm a longtime Dolphins fan.

[00:40:00] They haven't won a playoff game in 23 years.

[00:40:01] So I did reach out to Julie and say, Julie, I really just have one question.

[00:40:08] Did the Dolphins make the playoffs?

[00:40:10] Like that's what's important to me.

[00:40:11] Yeah.

[00:40:12] It's it's not anything else.

[00:40:13] And she not only confirmed that the Dolphins made the playoffs, they also made it to the AFC championship game, which that means I think that she did make the Super Bowl.

[00:40:22] Congrats, Dan.

[00:40:23] How about that?

[00:40:24] Also, the Dolphins made the playoffs and they won a playoff game first time in 23 years.

[00:40:28] So this is big.

[00:40:28] So it definitely is an alternate universe.

[00:40:31] And so that's confirmed.

[00:40:33] So both of ours in a sense are confirmed.

[00:40:35] Whatever it takes, whatever universe it is, go go Fins up, everybody.

[00:40:38] That's exactly right.

[00:40:39] We did it, everybody.

[00:40:41] Congratulations to us.

[00:40:42] And the good news is we're just getting started.

[00:40:44] We got eight movies that have come out over the past few days that we got to get to.

[00:40:49] We're getting started, everybody.

[00:40:50] We're getting started right now.

[00:40:51] We'll be back tomorrow with the Christmas quest.

[00:40:53] Come on back.

[00:40:55] It's a Christmas quest.

[00:41:45] Hi.

[00:41:46] But here they come.

[00:41:47] I promise they're coming.

[00:41:48] Yep.

[00:41:48] Here they are.

[00:41:49] Happy day.
