[00:00:59] I'm, you know, I'm getting myself into the spooky season mindset I understand there's a Reese's Ghost out there I need to get my hold on The Reese's Ghost is shockingly good Wow, okay Some would say scary good If you dig white chocolate I'm just telling you If you don't dig white chocolate I think you're going to be disappointed But it marries quite nicely with the classic Reese's peanut butter My kids love them Alright Yeah Okay

[00:01:28] Need to get your hands on the Reese's guys Yes, now today is September 25th If you can believe it That's right Which means we are what? Eight days removed from the Christmas schedule being released? No, no Three months Three months till Christmas? Three months till Christmas Yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah There's a party episode of Christmas morning today That's right I think it was four That would be over 100 days Four months Yeah, it's Because October seems like it should be Ah, I got you Okay, yeah Because technically

[00:01:58] You should have a podcast where you guys count down the days Yeah, go listen to Christmas morning We're celebrating it today I just got back from the North Pole Boy, are your arms tired My arms are tired It's tough out there Three months though That's a big one No, no, no Even you, Dan, can say that feels I will say One of my favorite days of the year is scheduled release day Which was last week I enjoyed that But I'm back to this being This weekend, Brands The first time we're going to get some weather below 60 degrees

[00:02:27] Oh my gosh Per the weatherman 59 I'll take that I'll take that But I mean last weekend I don't know if you remember last weekend 95 Heat Index 105 I remember So I just I'm not Don't talk to me about Christmas I'm not here We're in the last quarter to Christmas And there's nothing anyone can do about it That's right That's exactly right It's true And speaking of threes We only have three Festive Fridays left Counting today So three more movies All of them are going to be Christmas spookies I love it

[00:02:56] And we're kicking things off with a champ dog Champ dog This was requested by Alonzo No No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no Don't get it twisted I saw the title And I knew you were looking for spookies And I passed it along Fool me once I didn't look up to see that it was a fact A champ dog movie Alonzo always He wants to do a champ dog podcast Yes, he got it This is our third this year I don't know what to say But the text that I got It says We do this or I walk That's what it said

[00:03:28] And Bran cannot read any sarcasm That's the problem He was like We can't have Alonzo walk We've got to do this I don't exercise I know what you did last Christmas Good title Has it really never been taken before? This is crazy Shockingly just sitting there It's been a poster in several other champ dog movies That's right That's right October 28th, 2025 Is when this movie premiered

[00:03:56] And it went a little something like this The movie kicks off With a camera Coming across a woman Sitting dead In a field We then see another woman Walking around looking nervous This Santa with a mask Walks up behind her Puts the bag On top of her She's now in the bag She's in the bag Turns out it was all a dream though She's not in any bag She's in a Santa's got a brand new bag

[00:04:25] She wakes up And she sees a scary note Sitting by her bed She got this Card in the mail It's very It's scary It's ominous It's bad Next thing you know She's in a car Driving around And arrives at this big house She walks in It's a big big house Lots of room We don't need to do it at all She walks in Constantly saying hello But there's no answer Her name is Cassie

[00:04:54] And she finally sees her old friend Amber Cassie decides to leave But before she can And Nico shows up It's her ex-boyfriend And then all of these other folks show up And they're all They're former friends They all received the same letter To come back to this house But that's Not everybody I've talked about There's more people Dan What? There's Trey and his girlfriend Oh my goodness Dax I'm sure they introduced them all

[00:05:23] Very quickly Yes Dax Who just wants to sit in the corner And draw A couple of other people I didn't get their names So they all know each other But then some dude named Sam Shows up And no one really knows Who Sam is But he got the same invite So what can you do? They all talk about What happened last year And how it was just bad luck Suddenly the power turns off So Trey goes outside To figure out what happened With the breaker box And when he gets there The lights turn back on Santa is there

[00:05:53] And stabs him through the neck See ya Trey Everybody's keys go missing And they're all like What's going on here? So that's not good They can't leave We finally find out What happened last year It's pretty sick And twisted stuff They left their friend out In the freezing cold To die Now you know Could she have Like broke a window Or something Maybe But it doesn't matter Because she's dead And everybody feels Really bad about it

[00:06:21] The Santa strikes again And this time Killing a girl Who's working out People start dropping Left and right The kills are going Fast and furious And it finally comes out That when Cassie Is about to be killed That it's Amber Amber's the killer With the creepy random guy Oh my goodness It was Amber all along It was Amber all along Turns out Amber was in love With the girl who died So this is a little

[00:06:51] Revenge tour They They tussle back and forth Ultimately Cassie Is able to Overpower And break free And Now she's going to have to Deal with this trauma For the rest of her life But that's okay And that my friends Was I know what you did Last Christmas We did it We sure did Champ Dog Champ Dog Let's take a break We'll come back We'll break down this Champ Dog movie Here on Deck the Hallmark

[00:07:29] Now those of you Welcome back Now those of you That are Festive Friday Friends That listen every single week To Festive Friday You know Champ Dog And their Filmography For those of you That maybe don't We've reviewed Holiday with a Christmas Prince Holiday with the Twins Holiday with the Twins And Snowed in With a Christmas Prince That's right And both of those movies Were As we call Them in the biz

[00:07:59] Turds They were turds Real bad So we were reluctant Going into I know what you did Last Christmas But horror Dan you even said this When we started the movie Horror kind of lends itself To low budget That's right You can kind of play around With it a little bit more So how did Champ Dog Handle it with I know what you did Last Christmas We'll share our thoughts We're going to start With the hot takes We're going to share Exactly how we felt About this movie We do not hold back I'll start with you Alonzo Alonzo Are you happy To know what happened Last Christmas I've already forgotten Oh

[00:08:29] Yeah In the Double Decker group There was discussion About this being You know Certainly the best Of the three Champ Dog movies And technically That is true Because once you have Buried the bar Under the floor That's right Yeah I can't see it From here Even this movie's Incompetence Seems like A sheen Of professional excellence So You know Yeah No one is There is not a Snowball fight Involving Nothing

[00:08:59] There is not Like A luxury Rental for royals That is a council Flat Yeah It is Christmas Christmas time It is Christmas time Yeah The house is large Yeah But This is still Rock stupid And Terribly plotted And Every scene Has a No one thought

[00:09:29] To do X, Y, or Z Of course In terms of In terms of Either the actions Of the character Or like You know If anybody Was doing I don't know Set deck Or production design You know So yeah These are still Terrible But this is The least Terrible Champ Dog movie We've seen yet Put it on the box Put it all in the box I mean That's all we can hope for That's right That's all we can hope for Yeah I I I don't know It is the best Champ Dog movie And

[00:09:58] I wasn't like All together Bored During it I was Intrigued Some of the kills Were solid And You know I What I have liked To like I don't know There was really no way To guess Who it was Based off of No Like the motive That she had But you know It was It was It was fine It was not The worst Christmas spooky We've seen Over the years And so

[00:10:28] A reluctant Thumbs up From Bran Wow For I Know He Did It This Christmas Dana Put that on the box Yeah there's That's a better Yeah that would be Right on the front Of the box For sure A reluctant Thumbs up That's right Bran Duck the Hallmark I There's two ways To look at this movie One is as a movie And it fails miserably And I think we all Can agree there But as a champ dog Property It is the shining Bastion of what Champ dog could be It is Like early on You'll notice something

[00:10:58] It's the camera Is steady Like you'll notice That the camera The eye lines Don't change That the scene Seems to have been At least At the very Like At the very minimum They had an idea For where they were Going to shoot this And they looked At it And kind of Maybe even Blocked it Beforehand Which I know That that sounds Like faint praise But guys Compared to the other Two champ dog movies This movie

[00:11:27] Has some pretty Competent filmmaking Comparatively Sure Like and it even Has what I would Consider One Decent Performance Of our American actor Who turns out To be the killer I There were times Like everybody else Is still kind of Almost looking at the Camera and like But So there is that But make no mistake I mean Every scene Is rife with This This is not a problem Like just do this And you'll be fine

[00:11:56] They spend Way too long Of the 71 minute Runtime Just introducing Characters Not a lot To really write home About I mean there's some This Santa wears A pretty creepy Black mask And kills some folks With some Christmas Lights And I do think That's memorable Enough As a movie No But as a Champ Dog Production Definitely A step Definitely a step Or two up It's more champ Than dog It's more champ Than dog

[00:12:25] For once That's right I'll give them this Like you know We've seen now I think Not just champ dog But you know Ms. Monet In Houston And some other Filmmakers Who clearly like To be Is the new Drive in Basically You know In the 50s And 60s You had Roger Corman And you know Nicholson And Arcoff Like create Grinding out These movies For the teen Audience And out of That came Some memorable

[00:12:55] Genre films And later Spawned a whole Generation of You know Scorsese And you know Peter Bogdanov All these people Started in that Sort of B movie factory So if we're Talking about These movies As far as Memorable Exploitation films Heck of a title Like super catchy You know And And so As far as like A poster that's Going to grab People on streaming Oh that sounds Like something That I think I know what it is And I want to see it

[00:13:25] Well mapped out And the movie itself Delivers on that concept Unlike say Holiday Holidays With the twins Which is not Christmas at all And put Christmas lights On it to make it Look like a Christmas movie So yeah I think this You know If this represents The next phase Of Champ Dog Maybe they're getting better I don't know what order These movies are being made in No But like As an exploitation product This one Does As my friend Matt Actually would say

[00:13:55] It does what it says On the box That's right And so I'll give them that Alright Feels Anything Veritable raves From the three of us I know Veritable raves Any feels for you Ostensibly putting it up For an Oscar Yeah Basically That's Yeah A dog stint No Yeah We talked about it A little bit But there were a couple Like good kills Which I think If you're gonna watch Like a

[00:14:24] Like a little slasher Like this Sure And that's what you're Looking for Like The best one Being the one That happens in the gym With the lights And you know Getting Basically he Puts the lights Around her Puts it into the workout Four different murders Happening at the same time Yes Puts the lights Into the workout Bike And like Cranks it up So It was good I mean They put Blood under her eyes

[00:14:54] Yeah During that Which Like kind of Ruined the scene Unfortunately But It was compelling So I Mine was also Some of the practical Effects in this movie Because I mean Obsession was the Biggest movie to Come out this year Like for the amount Of money it cost To the amount it made No movie made more Money than Obsession Did in the world This year It was profitable And there are Scenes in Obsession Especially the one Where she's getting Her head slammed In the steering wheel

[00:15:22] That you can tell Is just a doll Like an actual Mannequin Like it doesn't Look That scene in Obsession Doesn't look better Than this Champ Dog Like it doesn't Like it doesn't Now What I'm The rest of Obsession Looks way better But the fact that In a horror movie You can use these Practical effects And we're willing To give The fact that We know it's not Real To you Because you're Trying to create Something on a Limited budget I do think They deserve

[00:15:52] Some credit here At Champ Dog For this Because nobody's Mad at Obsession For that scene Like I was watching That movie in the theater And people laughed At that scene And if you're trying To create a really Scary horror movie That scene should Take you out of it But we all Collectively decided Obsession is funny Obsession is scary Obsession is well made This scene gets a pass We all did Right? Didn't we all do that? I was so busy Just focusing on The literal meat chunks Of that scene That I didn't really Notice the doll I was in the theater And people were laughing

[00:16:21] And I was like Oh my god They just have a mannequin Slamming It's so clearly Not a person And that is We all collectively Went Obsession is amazing That's what we did And there's a reason For that It's because they did The work And they made A great movie So Champ Dog Didn't do the work And make a great movie But them trying To put together Kills with practical effects Kudos to them man Could have been worse There you go Alright let's take a break We'll come back We'll get to the Wait what And the What the Hallmark Here on Deck the Hallmark

[00:16:59] Welcome back everybody We're talking about I know what you did Last Christmas It's time for the Wait what Where we talk about What in this movie Made us go away What I'll start with you Alonzo Yeah I spent a chunk Of the movie thinking Are we in Australia Because this is summer Or at least It's not winter You know And I think You know The United States Has so many climates Involved But I don't think There's anywhere In England Where you can Wear a mini skirt

[00:17:29] You know In December With like A light little wrap On top And you're good to go I mean And it's not like Just this movie Did it There's a recent episode Of Ted Lasso Set on New Year's Eve And the women's Soccer team Was on like The deck of this yacht Yacht And Dave was like No no no no In December You're not standing out there With your little strappy Bare shoulder dress on Like it's too cold What a good episode though A lot of fun Yeah A lot of fun But yeah So that took me out of it

[00:17:59] She gets the letter You know The mystery You got a letter And you got a letter And you got a letter And it says One night One reunion One chance to make things right And I'm like One reunion One night One chance to make things right That's right It's sitting right there It's sitting right there You have a rhyme And you didn't even bother That's tough Leave it on the table Out there The killer's not a poet Okay Apparently not I don't know Yeah

[00:18:28] Cassie shows up And Amber Pulls out A fresh baked Thing of gingerbread men From the oven That oven Has never been on Hasn't seen in a socket No way Those gingerbread men Have been Are made ages ago Because they come out Of the oven Already iced Like it's just I mean I get it These movies are always Bad about baking But this was This was next level You know All of this to get to

[00:18:58] One of them not having a head And ooh Foreshadowing You know Yeah I love the fact that As a As a As a As a plus one To the thing about the weather I love that one of them Is wearing a sweater That says winter is coming Yeah Which I know With the Game of Thrones Reference That's a little on the nose It ain't here There's a whole thing With the They With the Again To bring up Clue They each get a mystery present

[00:19:27] And then we don't know What they are Yeah We skip right past them We never find out What they do I mean we had to fill 71 full minutes Alonzo How could we possibly Spend time We had 70 minutes Max That we could do Yeah So much important Other stuff happening Yeah All right So the lights go out And we get this montage Of like candle being lit Candle being lit Candle being lit Lamp turned on You're right What Yeah

[00:19:58] Yeah Kind of Undercuts the The thing here Not only am I not sure Where this is set I'm also not sure When it's set Because there's not A single smartphone With a flashlight in it In this entire movie Yeah Which is wild Because that is One of the best features Of a smartphone Yeah We do know That one of the girls Does have a smartphone Because she's live streaming Her workouts Oh that's true Yes We see her with that But like Yeah You know

[00:20:27] Dan Savage Always warns parents You know Your child has a porn studio In their pocket But they've also got a flashlight In their pocket And you know I mean especially In those scenes Where it's all dark But the one blue light That's on How are they not all Have their flashlights out Like immediately That would be That would absolutely First thing you do When the power goes out For sure Yes The guy trips And his face starts bleeding Like He doesn't trip into like A Briar patch Broken glass Yeah Or briar

[00:20:57] It just starts bleeding You have a We are meant to understand That a woman Is just going to take a shower Or start working out In the middle of a house party Where everyone thinks They could be killed At any moment I couldn't believe That this woman Was working out I know She was filming something But of all the times To work out This is You know This is the worst They say that The best workout Is the one you finish When you didn't want To do it to start Great The worst workout

[00:21:27] Is this one Whatever this is Is the worst workout Yeah Plus the fact that like She's holding her own phone So it's not like You're seeing The What she's doing Like you know If she's trying to teach you You know Her technique Like She's not creating any reels There's no content Yeah No No no no no And then like again He kills her four times It's like It's like You see him grab the big barbell But then you also see him Like you know And then the strangulation It's like

[00:21:56] It is literal overkill Happening there Yeah I thought it was too much Well it just You know If you're gonna kill Share the wealth You've got a whole house Full of people to get through You don't want to use up All your goodies That's true You know Brand pointed this out Yeah Was there no other door To the house That this woman Could try to get back into Her survival instincts Are zero They don't If the options are Staying outside And freezing to death

[00:22:25] Or god forbid Breaking a window Yes Or busting through a door Like she did nothing She said Let me in No And then she just went And sat by a tree And died Yeah Yeah It's tough Impressive in a way But ridiculous Honestly Like They shouldn't have Locked her out Yep Kind of on her Well I mean Yeah no we're not Listen we're not Victim blaming here But also In this particular case Use your brains Maybe A little bit

[00:22:54] This is a 51-49 Yeah yeah yeah It's absolutely their fault For locking her outside Absolutely Judge Gino would still Give her the money But it would be close Right Yeah There'd be a scolding involved Yeah of course Is it Is Dax the guy With the sketchbook Oh good luck No I don't think so But yes Go ahead Okay so the sketchbook guy Alright now Sure In a movie like this You know you You want to give me Sketchbook guy Great His drawings are Terrible Yeah

[00:23:24] They're so bad I wrote down If drawing is going to be Your entire identity You have to be better at it Yeah You know what's crazy Is we see so much Bad art from artists In these movies I watched On the flight back From New Orleans I watched The Christopher's Steven Soderbergh film Oh great movie And it was unreal Like I was blown away By how much I liked it And what struck me Is just how much time They spend Making sure you understand How good the art is And it's like If you're going to make A movie about an artist I understand you don't Have the budget

[00:23:53] Of Steven Soderbergh Or whatever But you can do that And no one even tries It's just like They're an artist Here's some really Crappy art And you can't tell me Every street corner You can find Like you know Some sketch artist Who's doing you know You could have paid Some guy a pittance Yeah To you know Feature his work And even like Do a fake hand If you needed it Yeah If you have to see him do it But to show us Or never show us the art That's also an option But to show us What he's drawing

[00:24:23] And how like He's worse than me I think Like he's doing A candy cane At one point Yes With no kind of shading That's just like Whew That's a good I mean look Candy canes are tough There's a hook And there's a straight line It's a lot You got the stripes There's a lot You got to do One character dies From what appears To be a guilt seizure Yeah What was that dude Classic guilt seizure In a horror movie Like I was Like it got to the point

[00:24:53] Where I was uncomfortable Watching him Yeah It was weird It was a weird scene Like I just watched Now Voyager And like you know Betty Davis accidentally Kills her old mother By like yelling at her But like this guy Is young And you know The reveal of this thing Should not like Forced his entire body To shut down Champ Dog does love A left field lesbian reveal We know that Yeah We were talking about Like what Like it is like Becoming a theme For them Yeah Nothing is like

[00:25:23] The holiday with the twins One though That was the craziest That's still the apex Yeah But there was This was definitely Not what we thought Was going to happen In this movie For sure Okay More More geographical confusion Everyone's wearing These shirts That say like You know Los Angeles Or whatever And at one point Like the The dude Who was trying To get back together With his girlfriend Somebody calls him Mr. Quarterback What?

[00:25:52] Yes I didn't hear that Yeah And I'm like But he's not Like there are American characters here You're not one of them And we're not You didn't travel To the U.S. What's going on With this? Do we ever get any Explanation as to why Like a couple of them Don't have Like are just American? Like how do they Know each other? Yeah No we don't I think they're They're all college friends Because the whole thing Is like they're so Also traumatized by this Thing that happened The year before That none of them finished

[00:26:22] But that they were all There like after finals University University Thank you Uni Uni And you've got some That are like I think American actors But you've also got some That are British actors Doing an American accent Yeah Yeah It's None of that makes Any sense Were they all supposed To be American? Who knows? Couldn't tell you So Amber's big showdown At the end Where she's got You know The main gal Tied up And she's yelling At her She's like

[00:26:52] First she's furious That she hadn't heard From her in the year And then when When she starts Explaining it She goes I'm sick of your excuses You're selfish I'm like Well wait You haven't heard From me in a year You haven't heard Me be selfish Or give you an excuse In 12 months Like This shouldn't You can't be sick of it Which then leads Into the most Half-hearted strangulation I think I've ever seen Yeah The strangulation That strangulation Was real tough No one was Applying any pressure Of any kind

[00:27:21] That's a massage Of the lymph nodes That's right Yeah Throat's a little sore Yeah And then finally Where do the cars go? Where do the cars go? When they die Where does the car go? No Yeah Exactly They're set to live In a farm upstate No Like the keys all disappear Sure Fine But at one point They walk out of the house None of the cars Are Someone's taken All the cars Great point It's a great point Yeah Anything else? What have you got? Great

[00:27:48] If you want to know Who the killer is Look for the person Who has a little splatter Of blood On their clothes Early in this movie In the first scene Of the movie When she walks in She's talking to Amber Or whatever Amber has blood On part of her clothing Already And I was like When it happened I was like And then when She's the killer I'm like

[00:28:18] Oh my It's actually It's icing From the gingerbread What you don't know Is that they filmed This out of order Yeah Crazy Crazy At one point The lights go off The power goes out Right And once the same Goes out To check the breaker box He turns back On the breaker And then the lights Come on inside Like a minute later Yeah In between In between The lights coming on And him turning The breaker on And the lights Finally turning on Inside the house He gets murdered That's right What did the light

[00:28:48] Does the breaker box He gets murdered When they come back inside There is a scene Of the lights coming on And them being like Oh yay The lights are on What It's slow The power slowly Down the wire To the house You know how it is In England, Australia It's crazy out there In Australia Yeah And then also Just at the end Of this scene The knife that she has Is comically thick Oh my god It's hilarious It is like It's like Is it cake Yeah Yeah

[00:29:17] Is that knife cake? Yeah It was obviously A fake knife But it was also Just the thickest Knife I've ever seen Yeah It was wild Because that's how You get them really sharp That's exactly right The thicker the better That's exactly right Dana In a 71 minute film If you spend The first 20 minutes Which is Almost 30% Of the movie Introducing the members Of the cast You're not going to have A successful picture You spent A third of this movie Just having people

[00:29:46] Walk through a door And somebody going Hey it's you That was the first 30 minutes of this movie It was the first 20 minutes of this movie 30% of this movie Which is crazy I will say I enjoyed The jump scare The jump scare Is in air quotes here Where all the lights Go off at once Aside from one strand Of blue Christmas lights Around the mantle But if you're going To do that And try to make A jump scare Out of it Your cast Probably all needs To react At the same time

[00:30:18] Maybe another Take or two Where we don't get Like a parade Of different head movements Not in unison Would really have helped The authenticity They're respectfully Taking turns The power does Come back on Bran And then one of our Characters chooses To still take a shower In the dark Which is crazy The lights are all on And she walks in the bathroom And just showers In the dark Someone's been murdered What if I shower In the dark

[00:30:47] It's my favorite Bruce Springsteen song I mean Unbelievable I've never I've seen people Hold phones in movies Here I've seen people Hold phones in movies Here I've seen them Have the speaker phone On I've never seen Someone keep The speaker phone Off And then hold This part of the Phone to their ear Like this That is what Happens in this movie What is going on What are you doing It's not coming out Here

[00:31:16] You doofus It's coming out here Right there Speaker phone Not on What are they going to say Guys If the speaker phone's on That's fine It's not on What are you doing Have you ever phoned before Have you ever used a phone Sheesh Man Yes There's a flashlight in it Yeah They pour two beverages Over ice That are The drink is dark black And has no bubbles And I Am concerned for everyone's life I don't know

[00:31:46] That soda I don't know Also poured by the killer Tall glass of cracking rum I don't know what that is In there And last but not least The award for most convenient Scissors Goes to The scissors Right behind the woman About to be killed Who's like Oh no I'm about to be killed Oh what's that over my left shoulder A pair of random scissors Outside On a stone wall Man what luck Talk about the lottery

[00:32:15] The horror movie lottery Scissors were behind In the living room And then there was a sharp candy cane Back to back Sharp candy cane That's right Scissors The first Candy cane Candy cane Second Twice in a row The same woman Is about to be killed And there is a sharp object Right next to her In a place It would never be Unbelievable Unbelievable Unbelievable luck there That's all I got Yeah If you're gonna kill people Make sure you put all the sharp objects away But I'll just make sure They don't have any way To kill you back You know That's exactly right Alright what the hallmark questions

[00:32:45] We still have That we'd like some answers to Alonzo Oh good lord I mean certainly nothing About the actual Characters In air quotes But again I will say like If this means that You know Champ Dog is trying a little Like I want to encourage them In this direction Yeah let's do it Try a little more There you go Yeah I mean You touched on it Alonzo But the location Like where is this Why What brought these This group of people together
