[00:00:01] Hi everybody, it's Bran. This month we are using Fridays to spotlight some of our other shows that we are a part of. And today we are spotlighting our newest show, Making The Merge, which is all about the TV show Survivor. This is going to be the most recent episode that is out today. And if you like what you're hearing, if you're a fan of Survivor or just a fan of Friendship, you can go and subscribe to Making The Merge wherever you listen to podcasts.

[00:00:29] But enjoy the latest episode of Making The Merge right now! This is Making The Merge.

[00:01:20] Welcome to Making The Merge. I'm here with Bran, Jonathan and Chase. What an embarrassing way to start this episode. Guys, real quick, I just want to apologize. I don't know if I'm going to be talking much. I have got my tooth hurts so bad. I've got an appointment at one o'clock to get a root canal. So please bear with me, okay? Chase is a liar. Chase, I'm so sorry. It's okay, man. I just wanted to steal Bran's sympathy.

[00:01:47] I wasn't going to talk about it because I'm a pro and you wouldn't even have known it at home listening to me out. Now my question is, Bran, when you get that root canal, are you going to scream the same way Cedric did at the wall? I've got to be honest. When I was watching the show, I was like, how'd they get the audio from my dentist to play that? When I was watching it, not to do a Jonathan and cut way ahead in the show. You can do it. It'll take the heat off me.

[00:02:15] I thought that was a sound effect at first. It didn't register that it was a real scream. Like a Wilhelm scream. You thought it was like the intro song where it was like, whoa! Yeah, basically. What I missed the first time that I heard while I was pulling that clip was those third and fourth little... I missed those the first time. Oh no, it didn't stop. Yeah. It was through the whole thing.

[00:02:40] It was... Believe me, as someone who has Cedric on his team, it was hard to listen to. What's great though is I use like this... I upload the audio to this little splitter thing so I can just pull the vocals from it. Mm-hmm. Because I don't want the mixing of bongos and whatnot. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And once you hear it isolated, it sticks with you. It's going to be a sound... I want to make up my ringtone. I haven't had a ringtone in 10 years.

[00:03:08] People are going to think you're dying every time you get a call. Imagine you're just like, you know, in Walmart or something in Greenville, Bran, and that ringtone goes off and Cedric's in the aisle over. Greenville, Cedric! I gotta be honest, it's now like... I'm going to say it out loud so that I don't do it. Because if I say it out loud, it could get back to him and then he'd be expecting it. I want to go to his... Surgeon. Butt doctor. Surgery office. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I want to do that bet.

[00:03:38] I want to go in and your ringtone be him. That's really funny. Yeah. But what's even funnier is if you're at that doctor and you need like a serious surgery and then like you do that... I time it perfectly with him. Cedric is just like, that's hilarious, Brandon. Oh, also you have hemorrhoids, you know? Yeah. All right, let's jump into this episode. All right. Yeah, enough Cedric. Let's get into that double elimination! Let's go! Yeah! We're so stupid. We're so dumb. Dang it. But we do have a theory and we can bring that up later. Whoa, okay.

[00:04:08] I don't want to jump the shark as some would say. Because Jonathan is deathly afraid of sharks. Yeah, yeah. Let's get into it. So for the first time ever, we kick things off with Siva, the new Siva, after the previous tribal. And Cedric says, let's talk about what happened. And Say is not having it. She's angry at Cedric. She's calling him a liar. And in a confessional, Cedric is saying that he only had time to tell Chrissy about Bianca's plan. I mean, about Bianca's vote.

[00:04:38] So, well, but Cedric called it Bianca's plan. Yeah. Like it was... So yeah, I think it's pretty clear that Cedric thought that Bianca was being like... Malicious. Yeah, like C. Malicious. And I think she was honestly just trying to figure out who to side with and all of it. She was just trying to survive. I mean... You will. Yeah. So she was in the middle. Usually that's the power position for a tribal.

[00:05:04] Now, if you don't remember last week, Bianca did not have a vote going into tribal. Cedric, she told him right before tribal, five minutes before tribal. And then Cedric was like, you know what? She doesn't have a vote. Let's just send her home. And it happened. Yeah. It was a little too easy for him. It clearly showed she was nervous to even tell him like we talked about last week. Yeah. But once again, Carolina Reaper decided to send somebody home. Yeah. Once again, Cedric baffling us. Yes.

[00:05:33] I love say though, being like, Mitch, Chrissy, I can talk to you tomorrow. Cedric, I'm never talking to you ever again. That was crazy. Yeah. He's like... Cedric, like, I just, I don't get it. Because he calls it Bianca's mastermind plan. Yeah. Like, her trying to trust him was this evil plan that she had. He was somehow too chill in this episode and also too paranoid at the beginning of the episode.

[00:06:03] Yeah. And it didn't make sense that he would tell Chrissy to the point where we debated it on the last pod when I assumed that's what happened. And then, you know, Chase went on for like 20 minutes trying to spit out his theory about what happened. Whatever, dude. I was wrong, but it was a good theory. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. But yeah, I think at the end of the day, it just came down to she just kind of, she talked too much.

[00:06:30] When you, my, the thing I learned here is if you ever find yourself without a vote, just don't talk. Yeah. Just don't, don't tell anyone you don't have a vote. Don't try to figure out what's going to happen because whatever's going to happen is going to happen. Right. You just stay out of it and you can just kind of vote for whoever you want to. Just don't talk to anybody. Just go with the flow. Yeah. Yeah. You're saying that you would want to go with the Jonathan method of I came back from the journey and I just don't want to tell any of that. Well, I don't know about that.

[00:06:59] I don't know about that. So Say is not just mad at Cedric because Cedric lays it all out there when he's trying to get Say's approval and he reveals that Mitch voted for Say and Say shrieked at Mitch. She didn't just yell at him. She was like, she wanted to kill Mitch. But she forgave Mitch so quick. It was so quick, dude.

[00:07:20] And it's like no one, even Say, who is clearly one to hold grudges, can be mad at Mitch. It's impossible. Yeah. This is the jorts, man. It's the jorts. I told Kristen, I feel like Mitch has been playing undercover hard. And even through the episode, I was like, Mitch looks tired. Like he looks, he looks exhausted just emotionally and physically, but he's just, he's a great player. And I know we'll get to it, but Mitch at the end of this episode.

[00:07:50] Oh, thanks. Brody. We'll get to it. We'll get to it. Amazing. Mitch is the best. We love Mitch. Yeah. And the next scene, Shaheen says, hear that? And it's a boat. It's day 12 and the game is about to change. Whoa. Drop your buffs. Merge, baby. Making the merge. Merge. Kind of because they don't get their buffs until the end of the episode. That's right. That's right. We did get two, two make the merge moments in this.

[00:08:19] Yeah, that's what we did. Where they said, you had to make the merge. And everybody in the Patreon chat, join the Patreon if you want to chat with us live during the episodes. Oh yeah. It was like, making the merge. Let's go. I love that it's, it feels like even to me when I hear it, I'm like, hey, they're using our thing. A few people spoke after we found out that it's, it's almost merge time. And one of those, hit it, Bran. Oh. Oh. Chrissy gets us thinking.

[00:08:50] Chrissy. Personally, I think the delay made it even better, Bran. Thank you. So Chrissy. Petey and I spent hours planning this. We went through all the hits. I didn't tell Bran anything. I just send Bran stuff. You just say, hit it, Bran. Play the thing. Yeah. So Chrissy says, this is just like the fire department. Like a bell went off and she's going to a fire.

[00:09:17] And she said, she's dying to talk to her old tribe and they're going to like Cedric, but he's got to let go of say. Yeah. Yeah. He spoke. Can I also just say that I think every time Chrissy speaks, she's kind of right. Yeah. A lot. Like it's very seldom, but when she speaks, she's usually on it. So Chrissy strikes me as the player that she's going to make final three and we're all going to be like, really? Chrissy made it all the way.

[00:09:47] Who would have seen that coming? I mean, we felt that about like all three in the final three last season. Yeah. And I really hope so because I think I've gotten in people's heads with this ridiculous sound drop every time she speaks, I think the alarm bells go off in all of our listeners' heads whenever she has a confessional. You're Pavlov dogging the audience to pay attention so close when Chrissy speaks. Yeah. The Chrissy-centric episode in a couple weeks is going to be really tough for us. It's going to be fast drop nonstop.

[00:10:15] Five hour podcast while we wait for each hit. Imagine final tribal council every time they ask her a question. Dude, that file would be too big to upload. Chrissy wins millions. Yeah. Hey, Frank, can I just say, even though you're in a lot of pain, you're crushing it. Yeah, he killed it, man. Come on, professional! Yeah. They say the best comedy comes out of pain, Brian. That's so true. Hey, Chase, did it not happen in the chat when Chrissy spoke?

[00:10:43] Everyone went crazy for doing the robot emoji. I have like, I kind of started the Mary bandwagon. I think I've gotten people on Chrissy's side with your sound drop. You're a trendsetter, PD. He's on my team! I keep hyping up Chase's players. I need to stop. Hey, tell you what, PD, why don't you take on the biggest challenge of all and make Cedric that way? See what you can do? Well, he scorned me. He does that himself, dude. He scorned me last week, so I don't know. We'll see.

[00:11:12] I did feel bad for him. We'll get to that. Okay. So David, he said he's disappointed to no longer be one guy surrounded by women. You know, valid. I think the most important thing was Star. Star was sitting by herself and she said, today I'm about peace. We can do war tomorrow. What a baller. Oh, dude. Just to drop out of nowhere. But here's the thing with Star sitting on the beach by herself and dialoguing and then being like thou-est and like using all of these terms.

[00:11:41] I looked at Kristen and said, I've never been more convinced that she's running Star updates. I gotta be honest. I, after this episode, I love Star so much. Dude, be. Yeah, totally. What a 180 from like, and listen, I'm the first to admit it. I, you know, maybe I let Star updates cloud my judgment of Star and that's not fair and I want to apologize to Star now. Star's incredible. Yes. Yeah. Star's the best. I love Star.

[00:12:11] Star's amazing. David also won my heart this episode. I don't know if that's shared amongst everyone. Hey, you can cut that out, PD, by the way. Whatever Chase just said. About David? I thought David had a good episode too. I like David in this one. PD, you can cut that out too. I think Star and David, this is like the first time they- It's the star of David, if you will. The star of David, dude. The star of David, they both got good edits. Yeah. In this episode.

[00:12:41] And kind of for the first time. Yeah. Is that accurate to say? I would definitely say. Yeah. I felt like we saw a little of it on the second half of last week's episode with Star. Yeah. With Eva, definitely. And we started to be like, oh, like Star has layers. Can you believe it? Well, we kind of didn't know if it was strategy or if it was personality. No, it turns out Star's just dope. Yeah. She's just cool. And I think that speaks to something we said all the way back toward at the beginning of

[00:13:07] the season where, you know, we like to remind everyone that we talk about the players as characters because we are only perceiving what the show edit is giving us. Yeah. David was very one dimensional. Star was very one dimensional. Star updates eight dimensional. But now we get to see a little bit more now that it's after the merge. There's less people kind of. Yeah. And we're learning a little bit more about these players. And now I'm like, dude, Star could win this game.

[00:13:33] I had the thought, like Chase said, Star's so likable and probably not perceived as a threat that I wouldn't be shocked if Star won the game. And I know like, yeah, the person who was pounding the table for Andy and Bonu is now saying Star could win. But I believe it. Yeah. It definitely made me feel as if it was a possibility versus she wasn't even going to make it, you know. Star update. We all like Star. Yeah. Yeah. Star update.

[00:14:03] Star has a brother in law. Yeah. Oh, that's a big one. Yeah. Wait, wait, wait, what is this about? Am I missing something? I'll read the quote later. I have it written down. Okay. So yeah, but everybody in her family. So after Star does her monologue on the beach, we get all the tribes showing up. And then the moment we've all been waiting for marry and say hug. And they both got confessionals about it.

[00:14:32] Say mentioned now her and Mary went from mortal enemies to friends. And then Mary said she has knots in her stomach thinking about playing with say, and she said, I just don't want to relive those days. And it's not like I feel tight with my original Vula. I want to scrub the green off of me. Like I'm only wearing this because I can't be naked on national television. Yeah. Thanks, Richard. I love the fact that they could not have had two completely different ideas of how being reunited was. It was a perfect edit.

[00:15:01] It was Star notices something. It's a note talking about the upcoming challenge. And it says there's an advantage hidden somewhere and they all freak out. Charity notices say going off on a path. And she said, hell no, you're not going off by yourself. Say and Charity both see it and they sprint to it. But say seemingly out of nowhere, sprinted past Charity and grabbed the advantage. And I gasped out loud. Kristen and I quote said, she's like a lioness. That's what Kristen said.

[00:15:31] And I was like, huh? So great. Say has made me gasp every episode for different reasons. Yeah. Every you never quite know what's going to happen when I thought Charity was good as gold and out of nowhere. Not only does say come out of nowhere. Next thing you know, she's already there. I don't like so fast. Fast dude. Yeah, Jeff gave a shout out to the camera team on the On Fire podcast because that shot was incredible. Yeah.

[00:15:59] It was timed so well that I mean, I don't know how he pulled it off where you don't see say until like the very second that she overtakes Charity. Amazing. It was a great scene and did not make me happy watching, you know. Right, because you have Charity on your team. Charity and I was thinking this is already not looking like a great Charity episode for the team. And then like Charity has to act like good job. Like she clearly doesn't like say. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:16:28] And then say literally just outran her. Yeah. Yeah. This thing like and then she's got to be like, he's a fist. You did it. I think it just goes to show how hard say is playing this game. Yeah. She doesn't seem to care about even though she's the one that brought up like winning with tactfulness. She does not seem to care. Oh, any of her actions affect. I've got stuff to say about that winning with tactfulness thing to later on. All right. Well, you got stuff to say about say definitely definitely even Joe are on the same beach again.

[00:16:56] And Eva says to Joe that her and David connected immediately and he's legit and he's got Shaheen and Kyle. And then we get David really excited about the idea. And this was really entertaining because David's like, we're flipping the script and the new era. The big muscle guys get sent home. Not this time, but we're also going to add a big muscle girl. Yeah, guys, guys. Once again, Eva ended up on a team of all guys within minutes, which is exactly what she wanted.

[00:17:24] I don't think it's an accident that this happened. Yes. Incredible. Can we like how hard was that confessional? Like just everything that he laid out there and then to end it with basically like it's time to get people that deserve to be in the final tribal back and finally like throwing the there was throwing the new era under the bus episode. I don't know if you remember the tweet that we read, but he has a lot of contempt for players in the new era. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:17:55] He literally called them puzzle nerds in this confessional. Yeah, he did. In our in our Patriarch, our patron Katie goes, yeah, strong men don't catch enough breaks. He's brave for saying so. To which I said, hashtag make men win survivor. Yeah, too many women winners of survivor. It's time for the strong men to make a comeback. Time for the fellas. Yeah. I don't know. I do feel like I'm like, David, you know what's not going to go over well with.

[00:18:25] I mean, he's like thinking that he's got the whole tribe under their thumb. I'm like, David, there's a lot more players right now here than what you've just formulated. And you know what they're not going to love is a guy who's like, I'm big and strong. Cut me a break. They're not going to. But also the idea that this big group of seven is just going to tell the truth. Yeah, we're going to be the honest. Well, you know, that's that's what they all say to Joe's point, though. Joe was like he also kind of was like new era sucks.

[00:18:55] He was like, we're fine. We're going to be an alliance that actually sticks together. None of this, you know, constantly stabbing people in the back type of thing. Yeah. And so how it works out for him. PD made a comment being like, I don't know if you did this in the chat or if this was just me and you being like, man, that never works. The big the big alliances never work out. And I think if you look at old survivor, there's a lot of seasons where a six or seven strong alliance will just hold together to the end. Yeah, but those people were dumb.

[00:19:24] Well, and also it was before like everybody was clamoring to make big moves. You know, people hadn't been watching the show for 40 seasons. Yeah, exactly. So it's like when they when they made an alliance, it was like, hey, this is this is what's going to carry us to the end. But now people make big alliances and it's almost like they're looking for an opportunity to make a massive move to disrupt the game for their own resume at the end.

[00:19:52] Old survivor's like, I guess it's my time to go. There's nothing I can do about it. I'm next in line. But I mean, it's an alliance of Joe, Eva, David, Shaheen, Kyle and secretly Camilla. Camilla. I mean, Joe and Camilla are not Joe. Kyle and Camilla tight. Yeah, Joe and Eva tight. And Kyle and Camilla will if this, you know, holds true for a few weeks, Kyle and Camilla will be the one that eventually breaks the mold. Yeah, they will take that. Yeah.

[00:20:21] But when will Eva turn on Camilla? But Kyle, your guy, Kyle, Jonathan, he's in this alliance. But he's like, we've got to keep an eye on that Shaheen guy. Yeah. Kyle is making me extremely happy right now. Like he just I feel like he's got a decent handle on the game. I agree with you. Smart player. So Charity, Mitch and Camilla are talking. Mitch wants to go to the end with Siva. They think that says the easy vote.

[00:20:51] But here's a shocker. After the most heartwarming scene in Survivor history where Eva overcame her struggles and won the hearts of millions like Banu could never do. Charity wants her gone right now. Yeah, dude. Oh, my word. I. That is the moment when I said, I think I made a mistake. Because she just started playing so hard right right away. I knew you made a mistake with Charity when I saw that tick tock.

[00:21:23] I have no idea what you're talking about, Chase. Not to put Chase's business out there like that. But he I think he described this situation as MAGA versus autism. Hey, man, it's the ultimate battle. We've all been saying it. Yeah. So Charity is sitting with Star and she tells Star that Star needs to go get her idol back. You need to. Hey, Star, you need to march over there and take it back. It was stolen from you. Hello.

[00:21:52] I've made a mistake. I would like one idol back, please. I think Eva would have done it. I think she would have given it back or she would have been like, no takesies back. I think Eva would have said no. But it doesn't matter what Eva would have said because Star was like, oh, no, Charity's the worst person ever. Yeah. That was such a bad move. I don't know why she would tell Star that needed to happen because it's pretty obvious that Star at this point is like a nice person. Oh, yes.

[00:22:22] So Star is going to tell everybody everything. Yeah. Kathy. All right. Chase. It's challenge time. It's time for everybody's favorite part of the episode of Power Chief Breaks Down the Challenge. Yeah. All right, guys. This is a very complicated challenge, more complicated than usual.

[00:22:46] It's broken up into a reward challenge where they are divided up into two teams at random. And then the winning team of the reward challenge, which they will receive the merge feast, will go on to compete in the individual immunity challenge right after. They're broken up into two teams and they have to crawl through the mud. Once they've crawling through the mud, they have to crawl through wood chips. After they've crawling through the wood chips, they have to use a hook to get a bag out of a cage.

[00:23:17] Cages are back. Yeah. Once they do that, they then have to run up an American Ninja Warrior wall, unlock the puzzle pieces and then solve a puzzle. Honestly, both teams do a pretty good job throughout the challenge until we get to the big wall. Wait, did something happen at the wall? I must have missed that. Well, like when they're crawling through the mud, Mother Mary has an awesome moment.

[00:23:43] This is back to back episodes where Mother Mary shows that she is a challenge beast. It was so fast, dude. She crawls through the mud upside down, pulling herself with the rope and just flies through the mud like some sort of boat. It was like waves. It was like waves where she was just moving so quickly through the mud. She was sliding. She was just awesome. Yeah. It was the quickest I've ever been like, well, I was wrong. Because when she got on her back, I was like, what are you doing?

[00:24:13] Dude, same here. I literally... And then next thing you know... It was so fast. Oh my gosh. Also, I do love that every season, Jeff is like, what's the closest to tar and feathering that we can do to contestants? Dude, Rachel said that on fire. No way! She did. She called it tar and feathering. It's so... Every season, it's like, okay, maybe I dip them in some mud with some sand. Maybe I dip them in some mud with some wood chips. Next season, it's gonna be mud with feathers. And then the next season, it's gonna be tar. You watch it.

[00:24:42] Another thing Rachel said was that it feels like five pounds on you when the mud dries. It's like cement. And Jeff was like, hey, yeah, I love that. Dude, do you think mud better, dude? Jeff probes freaking love mud. Yeah. I was uncomfortable when... And I won't say who wins immunity because we haven't gotten there yet. But when he walks up... Dude, man, you look so cool right now. But here's the thing. I agreed with him. Yeah, he does look cool. Yeah, we'll get to it.

[00:25:12] Dude, you look like you've been in a war. Yeah. Yeah, you know. So we get to the American Ninja Warrior wall. Most people are doing pretty solid on the wall, except for a man. I'll give you three guesses. Cedric cannot get up the wall. Doesn't even make it like a foot up the wall. Dude. At one point, someone's like letting them try to like step on him to get up the wall. He's just like kicking this dude in the head. There's mud everywhere. So I couldn't even see who it was. It was Mitch. It was Mitch. No, Mitch was the one lifting.

[00:25:42] And then he was on Joe. Joe was saying stand on me and Mitch was pulling him up. Yeah. Dude, finally, finally Cedric gets up this wall and he gets a, that's how you do it on Survivor. Well, can I, as someone who unfortunately has Cedric on my team, I have never wanted so badly for someone to end up getting voted out after that.

[00:26:09] Like I, as it was happening, I'm just staring at the screen and looking at Kristen being like, this is what we have to deal with. And he's screaming. He's screaming so hard. But also, you can't get getting away with us. To give Cedric a little bit of, of leeway on this. I also told Kristen, this is why I can't apply to Survivor. Was watching the Warped Wall experience.

[00:26:37] I'm like, that would be the moment where I would have the same exact thing happen to me. Man, here's the thing about Cedric is I, I genuinely think he could win this whole season. And I think his arc of this season would be like, he is the worst challenge player in history of Survivor. But yet he still overcame all the odds. I mean, imagine if he wins an individual immunity. PD, I'm going to give you the opportunity right now to call off the bet. This is the final offer. Yeah.

[00:27:07] But seeing what you saw, this is our first immunity challenge. Do you want to call off the bet? I don't want to call it off. And first of all, remind everyone and me what the bet was. The bet was a $20 bet. Oh yeah, that's right. I said that Cedric's never going to win an immunity challenge. PD says that he will. I want to make it, he'll win either a reward or an immunity. But I'm going to continue the bet. How does that sound? I'm not going to back out. Just want to add reward on top of that. What do you think? I'm not interested in that bet at all. Brandon, don't go for it. You know what?

[00:27:39] I want to go for it. No! Let's do it. He just did it. He just did it. He just did it. He's been pretty hefty in last place. It gives the other team a very big advantage on the puzzle. And they have, of course, they lose because of Cedric, which does not feel great. The purple team will go on to the individual immunity challenge. For that, they will have to balance a ball on a stick.

[00:28:09] It's like a plate on a stick. And they have a big ball up there. But here's the thing. Here it is. At different stages, they got to keep adding sticks to the stick and making it very tall. And brother, it gets about 20 feet tall. It looks very difficult. I'm a big fan of these kind of challenges. I love it. Some of our patrons said that they are not a fan because they feel like it's not exactly fair to everyone. It's not a puzzle. So I'm into it. Yeah, I agree. But nothing is fair to everybody. That's very true. Yeah.

[00:28:36] The playing competitors are Mary, Chrissy, Camilla, Kyle, David, Star, and Say because she had the advantage. She did not have to participate in the first challenge. She got to go straight to individual. And she goes to feast no matter what. Absolutely. I totally forgot to mention this about Say when she actually gives that advantage to Jeff.

[00:29:00] She celebrates and jumps and pumps her hands in the air, is so happy, is basically being like in your face, in your face. And I looked at Kristen and I was like, I don't know. I feel like she needs to bring down the celebrating a little bit. A little more tact. Yeah, a little more tact when her victories happen. Yeah, but she was pumped up because she didn't have to be covered in mud. Yeah. Very true. She didn't look cool at all. But you know who did have to be covered in mud?

[00:29:25] Mary, Chrissy, Camilla, Kyle, David, and Star, who are her competitors in the immunity challenge. The very first person to drop in this challenge is Chrissy. Chrissy is losing. Chrissy is not immune. Yeah. Now, she made it pretty far into the challenge. I was impressed with at least. She made it about three stick lengths.

[00:29:50] After she drops, a good while goes by before Camilla is the next person to drop. Mary looks like a kangaroo with her head all the way back at like a 90 degree angle. So that is what they said she looked like. I thought I misheard it, but they were like, looks like a kangaroo. Yeah. Shaheen was just on the sideline just cracking one-liners the whole challenge. Who does he think he is? Jeff Probst? But also, what kangaroos has he seen? I don't know. Because I don't know what that meant. I don't know, but being a kangaroo was not enough for Mary.

[00:30:20] She is the next one to drop, then say drops. Then, that leaves us with our final three, Star, Kyle, and David. Very tall people. Star especially. David, by the way, is like a statue during this game. Yeah, he is. Just staring straight ahead. He's not even looking up. He never looks up. No, he doesn't look up, brother. David's the next one to drop, leaving Star and Kyle. They both last a while until eventually Star does drop. Kyle is the first individual immunity winner of the season.

[00:30:50] That's right. And the only person who receives the merge buff, which is blue. Congrats to Kyle. Blue just like the ball and stick color combo. They pointed that out. He said it was meant to be. Yeah, he said it was meant to be. He looks cool. He just pointed back at it. He's like, hey, blue. Yeah, yeah. And then I think it was say that said it was meant to be or somebody said that, but I was

[00:31:15] very happy to see Kyle was safe because I knew that the rest of this episode was not going to be fun for me. PD pointed out a parallel that last season, Kyle from that season was also the first individual immunity winner. Interesting. Something to keep an eye on. So we got back to back seasons, two Kyles covered in mud winning immunity. Yeah. Both on my team, by the way. Yeah. Both drafted by Jonathan. I got to keep drafting the Kyles that show up.

[00:31:44] I would like to maybe take a quick moment to update all of the listeners about our drafted teams before we get into the jury stuff. My team, I have Mary, Chrissy and Mitch. Good team. Woo. PD has Camilla, Eva and star. Woo. The rights have Joe, Kyle, Charity and Cedric. And brand has Shaheen say and David. Good team. Good team.

[00:32:11] It was challenge time and now it's merge feast time. They're all enjoying their reward. And Mary says, we should talk for a second. And star throws out charity because she's been scheming. That's what star said. And star also said that, you know, some people are scared to say a name first. Unfortunately for me, I will say a name any day of the week. Now, granted, my brother in law told me not to say no names, but Robin, I got to say names. So yes, I said, Oh man, that was a good quote. Shout out to Robin. I think it's Robbie. Is it not Robbie?

[00:32:41] Okay. Maybe there's an autocorrect issue. But you know what? Shout out to Robin too. You know, yeah. Robbie update. He told star not to name names. Batman and Robbie. Man, star is awesome. Yeah. Star is cool. So star then asks Chrissy. What's the name you've heard? And Chrissy says.

[00:33:08] Brandon full recovery with that soundbite, you know, Chrissy says because Eva has an idol. We should go for her. I think. Yeah, that was what Chrissy threw out there immediately was, you know, I've heard Eva. I don't think she was saying like, I want to vote for Eva. It was just I've heard whispers. I don't I don't mind as much as I love Eva. I don't mind this conversation. I think that it is a really smart play.

[00:33:33] Yeah, I think all of us had the thought last week after seeing that situation that as wonderful as it was huge target. Now you don't want to go up and you guys talked about on the sanctuary. You don't want to go against Eva or Joe and final travel. So I didn't I didn't mind this this conversation for two reasons. First of all, what you just said, Brian, but also because Joe was not the target of that conversation. Right. No, but like for real, like they were just very quickly.

[00:34:01] Like if one of them is going, it's Eva. Right. Yeah, we got a lot of people were kind of agreeing with that idea. Hey, autism be damned. She's got to go ratings on YouTube. It doesn't matter. You know, you know, Jeff Probst is like we got to keep her as long as possible. We're bringing her back. Yeah, for 50. I mean, a million views on their YouTube video. Massive. It's about time this little little tiny TV show finally gets some recognition.

[00:34:28] She's going to be like next on the chopping block and a producer is going to chuck an idol at her. Yeah. So back to the merge beach. We get a Cedric confessional where he said, you know, what hurt more than anything was feeling like he let people down. Yeah. And then he looked down. He started to cry. And it was at this moment where I started to feel pretty bad about how I talked about him. Silence. It is I, the Carolina Reaper, Cedric McFadden.

[00:34:56] So shut up, podcast nerds. You really think I want your sympathy? After six weeks of you trashing me on your dumb little show. Week after week calling me pathetic and saying I don't know what I'm doing. And all of a sudden you want to flip the script and say, oh, he's a human and he has feelings. And maybe he's not just a monster. I don't care what you guys think.

[00:35:25] When I win Survivor after I take the million, I'm coming for you next. Justified crash out. Justified. Yeah. I get it. The Reaper has spoken. Who did that? Cedric. Cedric. Cedric. The Carolina Reaper. The Reaper. It's the Carolina Reaper. Weren't you listening? He just crashed the podcast. Dude, that was insane. Yeah. That was wild. The Carolina Reaper being a demon on our podcast. It's funny.

[00:35:56] CBS tries to have a good handle on their contestants. Can't control the Carolina Reaper. No way. No way. No way. No way. No way. No way. No way. No way. No way. No way.

[00:36:35] No way. You'll get to this in a second. When they're throwing out names, Cedric is involved with all of the different tribes. Yeah. They seem to really like him. I think my relationship- He's just walking up behind them being like, what about charity? Yeah. Yeah. I think my relationship with Cedric- As long as it's insane. Is that of a coach, right? Like, you know, I'm mad at him because I want him to do better, right?

[00:37:02] And I'm starting to get frustrated because I know he can do better. And he's just not. You know? It's to his advantage at this point that he sucks at challenges. Maybe so. Maybe so. Keep him around. He's not a challenge threat. Maybe I should feel bad. And you're turning me around. And they walk up to Cedric and they're like, hey, Cedric, do you think we should do say? And he's like, I voted for her twice. I don't care. But I don't think that's the brag you think it is, bro. You voted for her twice and you flipped your own vote.

[00:37:32] That's why they're asking. The Carolina Reaper. Yeah. Your history precedes you, my friend. They're all very concerned about whether or not you're ever going to vote for say again. But yes, he did cry and I did feel bad for him. And I think everyone did pretty much except Jonathan. I mean, I might feel bad now. I mean, I'm not as tired. It's the middle of the day. Maybe I'm thinking more clearly. Or it could be the threat that he just gave us. Yeah. He did bomb the show.

[00:38:01] But Cedric, I believe in you to win one challenge at some point. We love you, Reaper. We love you. So next up we get Charity and David talking and Charity thinks this could be an easy vote. And Joe is like, no, it should never be easy in Survivor. She's a great guy. What a guy. What a guy. And then Charity tells Mitch, in her perfect world, Eva would be gone. In a perfect world. Wow. Eva goes home. The winners of the merge feast came back. Say describes literally everything she ate.

[00:38:30] You know, she went on for like what felt like two minutes talking about different food items. How did you feel watching say do that to people? Because once again, where's the tact? Where's the tact? I loved it so much. I thought it was so funny. It was funny, but I was like, oh no. But this is what, like, she just has no like situational awareness. Like she, it's, she's just not capable. And yeah, I hate that. And I love that about her.

[00:38:57] Dude, they had, they had Mitch going gym from the office right at the camera. Yeah. Mitch said like, well, okay. I'm like, I'm so glad you got to eat all that. I took what Mitch said as a, like a, like sarcasm. I did too. I did too. Well, I'm so happy. Yeah. I think it was. Yeah. Speaking of Mitch, cause we didn't bring this up right after the challenge. This was, that was first time Mitch ever lost a challenge. I think. Yeah. And he looked devastated. Yeah. He looked tired. This is what I mean.

[00:39:25] Like, I think that Mitch is looking more and more tired. The more he has to put up with other people. And he also lifted Cedric. He did. Yes. The game gets you at one point or another, it's going to like defeat you. Yeah. And you just have to like the, the players that go on are the ones that are able to power through that, that moment of like, I can't do this anymore. 100%. Now let's get to a Cedric and star update. Star tells Cedric that she saw that he gave his best effort and Cedric starts breaking

[00:39:55] down. And in a really heartwarming moment, star tells Cedric, Hey, Ceddie, that's not what we're doing. She said, you're a person who's great and you're great. And you're doing things that my dad wouldn't be able to do. And a lot of men wouldn't be able to do. And your kids are going to be proud of you. And guys, I think stars pep talk helped. Yeah, it did. It's like amazing. Like just such a, listen, this isn't going to get the, the million votes or a million views on YouTube or a million hearts. Yeah. Maybe like 500,000 hearts. Yes.

[00:40:25] But this was a really powerful moment. She's really sweet guys. Really sweet and a really great pep talk. And just another great human moment. That's not going to get the buzz on social media because you're not going to post it a thousand times, but it was a really beautiful moment. She told him that he was representing the fathers, all the dads. Shout out dad. And I, I, as a new father want to say, I don't want that representing me.

[00:40:54] So, you know, Oh my God. He doesn't want to represent you anyway. You're a loser. I don't want it. He saw my team. Hey guys, look, one of these days, someone's going to have to touch your butt and you're going to have to pray to the good Lord above. If it's not Cedric, if it's extra painful, I'll know who's doing that. I hope the Carolina Reaper punches you in the face. Oh man. Well, you know, look, here's the thing.

[00:41:20] I love him like a son and my son is failing me right now. So you don't have a son. Yeah, I know. I said like a son, not my son. You literally go in. My son is failing me right now. I hate you. Jonathan. I hate you. Jonathan. I don't hate you. I want to thank you once again. I keep doing it every week, but I am more and more grateful every week that you gave me star and you took Cedric. Unbelievable. Unbelievable.

[00:41:47] I'm watching the scene happen and I'm like, why did we not take star instead? Yeah. Thank you so much. So the original Vula, Cedric, Mary and Say are talking and Mary wants charity out. Say thinks Eva is the obvious choice. So say is in on like team evil with charity to get to get Eva out. We're not surprised. But say says that, you know, it's a new say she's going to lay low this time and go with the flow.

[00:42:16] So she'll vote for charity. That's what we think. But then, you know, she just does something completely different. I get to it. What do you think about the new say, Chase? Do you think she'll actually lay low for more than one episode? Uh, no. And if the like, uh, sneak peek of next week's episode, she's going to get crazy. Is she the one that votes for Cedric? Yes, she is. I didn't see the votes. That's so funny. I can't wait to talk about that.

[00:42:43] But one thing I really want to talk about is this like during this time before tribal, when everybody's running around and they're trying to figure it out, it is almost insane how identical say in charities game was like, yeah. So both of them said that they wanted Eva, but they know that that's probably too big of a move. Both of them said this independently of each other and confessional. And then both of them independently said, yeah, that's too big of a move. I'll just vote say, or I'll just vote charity.

[00:43:13] So they're both in the exact same position of the tribe where both of their names are coming up as options. And they're like, yeah, we'll just do the other one if we can't get either. And then, uh, both of them don't have a tight alliance with anyone. Say doesn't have, it doesn't have Cedric. Like she thinks she does. She doesn't have Mary. Like she thinks she does. They're both throwing her under the bus to other people. Same thing to charity. The only person that charities type with is Mitch. And then I think at one point, Mitch even was like, if it's gotta be charity, it's gotta be charity. Yeah.

[00:43:40] Now that I'm thinking about it, um, it got back to Eva about both charity and say, yeah, like say, um, I think who was it? Kyle who told Eva, I think, I think he's throwing your name out there. Well, they were identical games, but charity was much messier. I think that's what that boiled down to. Like say was, was committed to kind of going with the flow, but she was throwing the same kind of process out there.

[00:44:07] Charity was just talking too, too much the whole time. Yeah. Hey, speaking of say, she came up in a conversation with Mary and Joe where Joe is asking about her and Mary's like, Oh, she was such a gaslighter. She's so manipulative. Yeah. She's great at tribal. Like say, he's gotta get out of here. Made me a little hopeful for the episode. It gave me a glimmer of hope that say would be, you know, a real target for tribal. So they're, they're setting it up to be say or charity. And it brings us to the domes guys.

[00:44:37] The charity says there's a lot of people that don't want to talk to her today. Like one of the first things she's like people, a lot of people avoiding me. It's making my eye twitch. So that kind of set her off. That was her. I cut through a coconut. No one cheered for me. No one wants to talk to me. And instead of being like, what was a great moment for Andy? It was like her final moment. But Jeff said, Hey, that's just part of club condo and reading the room.

[00:45:07] And then Jeff starts dancing. And I have no clue what club condo is, but it is a podcast on the, on the Rob has a podcast feed. So I know that. Well, the man just talked about dancing a lot. This tribal, like Jeff just kept one person mentioned club and dancing. And Jeff was like, what if I talk about dancing a lot? But what is club condo? I don't know. I'll look it up. I feel like he's just, he was just throwing stuff out. What is club condo?

[00:45:37] Watched a tribal council from season 44, episode 10 for the initial Jeff Probst mention of this phrase. Oh. Must have forgotten about that. Is this the sanctuary of back in the day? I've never heard of this. Well, they had the sanctuary back then. The sanctuary was club condo. I wish it was. I wish he said it in season 44 and Rob made fun of him for it and started a podcast by the name club condo. Very interesting. Yeah. Good move from Rob. Yeah. But also like what, where did that come from? He said it as if it was a massive reference. Yeah.

[00:46:07] The general term of it, it's like a country club. Oh, okay. It's just like a country club. Club condo. Yeah. Nobody calls it that. But club condo suggested a condominium complex that is either directly affiliated with a club or located in a way that makes it convenient for residents to access the club's amenities. But I feel like Jeff doesn't know that because he starts talking about a club condo and then talks like it's a dance club. Like it's a rave. A country club and a rave are very different. Yeah. At least I think so. Jeff's like, hey, let's do coke at club condo.

[00:46:37] Yeah, dude. Like what is happening? Say says it's a family, but it's a clicky family. And Star butts in and she says, Jeff, there's family that I don't like. So respectfully, you know, there are big happy families and you don't have to like your grandma or your auntie Nicole. You know, everyone knows the middle child gets no love, but that doesn't mean that they're not your family. So all that being said, start just out here. Just like, here's all my trauma. Yeah, I think she's just doing stand up. I think so. I think I do think she's doing this.

[00:47:06] This has happened like three different times with Star where I transcribe something and I'm like this with my delivery does not make sense when she said it. It makes perfect sense. So Star should do stand up is what I'm saying. Yeah. So I make my next point. You're no star, my friend. You're a lot of things. Yeah, star. I might be able to do demon Cedric soundtracks, but I'm no. No, no, no. You were saying that was you. Oh, yeah. No, it wasn't me. It was the one I get the Carolina Reaper back in here. Yeah.

[00:47:36] So Jeff gives a shout out to his middle brother, Brent. And but that brings us to our Kyle quote of the week. Oh, I almost forgot. Thank you, Chase. When Mary is there for a little bit of this tribal, they're all given these fun little metaphors and Mary compares it to being like a dog park and everyone's sniffing butts. Yeah. And Kyle goes, yeah, everyone's sniffing butts. Cedric knows something about. Yeah. Yeah. It was such an under the radar thing.

[00:48:07] I also want to bring up the Mary quote of the week because we forgot to put it earlier in the episode where she goes. Charity is like a turtle. I'm not afraid of a turtle. Shut up, Mother Mary. Shut up, Kyle. Oh, man. Star goes to vote and fumbles the pin. Yeah. I love it. She threw it far. It wasn't just a drop. It was like a drop and then like a smack across. And then Eva walks up and was like, why is everything shaped like garlic? Yeah.

[00:48:36] Dude, what was that? It was such a fun cast. Yeah, it's a good group. They're all so funny. The garlic quote was amazing. And then I started looking at everything and I was like, hey, wait a second. It does kind of look like garlic. There's a vampire on the premises that they're trying to keep away. That's what the war in Fiji was. It was a war over the vampire. The great vampire war. It was a spice war. I don't know. It's right. She's looking at all the domes and she's like, you know, these domes kind of look like a bunch of garlic. Yeah. Just think about how devastating it is.

[00:49:05] Jeff spent all this time being like the domes. Everything has to look like its own society only to have one contestant be like, it looks like garlic. Everything looks like garlic. Was there a war in this garlic? Garlic. Yeah. So after star fumbles the pen and Eva says it's garlic, Jeffrey reads the votes. We get two votes for say two votes for charity. One vote, Cedric.

[00:49:32] Then we get three votes on say back to back, back to back to back, three votes on say, it looks like say is a goner. And then the music changes. Yeah, it was awesome. And this is where say's fate at this tribal changes because then it gets tied up at five, five and then charity gets the last two remaining votes. Yeah. Let's talk about it. Right. When that music changed. Oh, I'm good.

[00:49:56] When when it started going really a lot towards say I told Kristen that charity was going to go home and that's just because you know those producers go they grab the votes out. They order them in a dramatic way for Jeff to pull them out. And as soon as a lot started hitting say at first, I was like, we got a lot of votes to go. It's going to swap over and charity's going home. I actually thought the opposite. I thought that at some something happened that we didn't see in the edit that everyone

[00:50:24] just decided to vote say out because I just thought it was going to be a 13 sweep. No, dude, I was I was like, there's no way that it's going to be this easy. Charity was my only rogue pick for the right team. And Kristen and I had quite a discussion after this. She said, Jonathan, you ruined my team. Yeah. Ruined my team. Was she like legit heated about it? She was a little heated. And I'm sleeping on the couch.

[00:50:52] No, you guys are new to the podcast, the new to our draft. Kristen, who are our other cohost who isn't here today, notoriously amazing at drafting. It makes me so mad. Like every season. She has like a very almost a full team going into the merge. Yeah. And sometimes even like the final eight. Yeah, yeah. Full team and Jonathan and Kristen are on the same team this season. They're married. And I guess Jonathan convinced her that he like he was like, we got to have charity.

[00:51:22] Well, so the for the fact of because you guys went into this episode, the only team undefeated. Yeah. All four of your players and you lost it because of the Jonathan because of the one Jonathan pick. Yeah. And I to be honest with charity, the first two episodes, I felt like she was kind of this middle of the road player where we didn't know a whole lot about her. There wasn't much to go off of.

[00:51:47] And I thought that might be a safe person to pick because there were moments where it seemed like she could control a game or that she was trying to play. And so when I picked charity, I thought, oh, this is a person that kind of fits the profile of someone who would win later on. Right. Like they don't they don't stick out a ton, but they are trying to do some stuff. I agree. When episode three and four started hitting, I started feeling much worse about charity. Yeah.

[00:52:16] And then as it just kept going to this week's episode watching her play, I was like, oh, she's so she's so messy. Like she's so upsetting to watch. Well, all we ever got was like her foot is weird and people hate her. Yeah, it just did not get better as the season. It's hard to write a full song around that. So we're not going to do a song. Yeah. No song for charity. But yeah, I'm proud of being American.

[00:52:42] Well, at least I know I'm free and I'm proud to support the man who died and who gave their life for me. So charity stand up next to you. Chase, you know more of that song than I expected. I tapped out after the first line. Listen guys, I'm a little bit more white trash than you think. I played symbols on that song in the fifth grade and very well, very stressful. Was it emotional?

[00:53:09] The final time around they do the and I proudly stand up. Boom. Yeah. Oh, yeah. You had a solo. Very stressful. Yeah. Very stressful. So ladies and gentlemen, with charity being eliminated this week, we are all four teams are down to three leading into the merge. Right at the merge. It's all evened up and it makes it feel like any of us could take home that Jody Newell trophy. Yeah, it feels good.

[00:53:38] When this happened, I felt a sigh of relief for Brandon. Yeah, because I thought he was going to be the first ever making the merge host to go into the merge with no players. Yeah, it was a very real possibility. Well, this is what happened last year, too. I feel like it was it went one, two, three, four. Yeah. Yeah. Nobody lost two before the merge. And then I dropped quickly. But then I won. Yeah, you did.

[00:54:03] Guys, the last thing I want to talk about before we send this thing home, before we touch down so Brandon can go get his tooth taken care of. Spirit Airlines. Why did say vote Cedric? I think just purely out of bitterness and wanting to throw one at him. Her life in the game is on the line. If a couple more people vote for say, she's not around anymore. If she went home because she voted for Cedric, that would have been hilarious. Yeah.

[00:54:31] I mean, I would have liked it just because of how funny it would have been. But charity going home instead of say is a great thing for the season. Yeah. Yeah. Like what? Like, is there a logical reason? Like, is it like, oh, well, just in case someone plays an idol, I'll throw out Cedric's name. Like, what was the? I have no idea. I don't know. I think it's just petty. I thought it was the pettiness. Strategically, it I don't think it can make sense. Yeah. It's not time. It's not the time. No, it's not for petty.

[00:55:00] But yeah, I think that's what she did. I can't wait. That's that's the big mystery. I want to be solved next week. I don't know that we'll ever know an answer. Yeah. Chase tries to solve it in his next YouTube video is actually. I just call her. Side note, guys. I want to say this. We could talk about it more on the sanctuary, but I feel like I have to put a disclaimer after it kind of went a little nuts. I am not going to be on Survivor 49. Yeah. That's a good note to end on. I just want to think that you think that even if you applied that you would just magically get on.

[00:55:29] Yeah, no, I don't think that. But I will say that I've received a lot of congratulations. I've received a lot of congratulations messages and I beg people to realize it was posted on April 1st. April Fool's is anything to mess with. Wait, did you just stop responding to the messages? No, I told I felt like a villain guys because I would get messages. I got one message that was like, congrats, man. We're so happy for you. My wife and I are running around the house. We can't believe it.

[00:55:57] And I had to be like, hey, man, like I haven't talked to you in five years, but like I'm not going to be on Survivor 49. Yeah, that's an April Fool's joke. I'm personally not a fan of April Fool's jokes. I'm not usually, but this felt like a good opportunity. Because it's like spreading misinformation and calling it a prank. Yeah, yeah. But this time it was very spontaneous. We didn't plan it. Jonathan was just like, yeah, I'll do this. I want to do a fake announcement going on Survivor. And I thought that, well, first of all, there was a mistake where I meant to put

[00:56:25] like a swipe symbol on the very first photo. And I forgot to. And if you swipe over, I just say that it's a joke very quickly. Like it's I explained like I'm not applying to Survivor. I forgot to post that one. So there we go. I've I've changed my mind, guys. After learning about that, Jonathan's just like afraid of the ocean because it's big. I no longer think he would do the best on Survivor. Yeah, that's what I've been saying. Well, how about we send Jonathan to space? Because if you thought the ocean was big, let me tell you, I'm even more afraid of space,

[00:56:55] brother. I see. So out of the three of us, actually, I think Kristen would probably win. I'm going to say Kristen. Yeah, I would say Kristen. She has a better shot than me, especially with those warped walls existing. One more thing to make fun of Jonathan and then we will end the show so Bran can get out of here. Me and Jonathan were in VR one time. Yeah. And it was a VR ocean. Yeah. And it wasn't a real ocean. Yeah. It couldn't go in the water. It was just like a surface. Oh, dude.

[00:57:22] Essentially, it was a floor that looked like the ocean and Jonathan could not handle it. I couldn't do it. I couldn't do it. I didn't freak out. I just said, I don't think I can make it happen. And then I accidentally grabbed a jet pack and it flew me over the ocean. And I was like, ah, frick, dude, I hate this. Look, me and Jonathan had some wild times in VR. We have. We have. And more to come, PD. You are such a loser. Look, look, I just say that I like to be grounded.

[00:57:51] You know, medevac himself from the ocean with a jet pack. I don't want to virtually drown. I don't know how to work the body. You know, just to level the playing field here, because I don't want Jonathan to be the only one who's made fun of. This is the right time to share this story. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Because charity has not been voted out, our spirit airline queen. Mm-hmm. I was once on a spirit airlines flight and signed up for a credit card. Oh. Huh? You signed up for a credit card while on the plane? Yeah. You know how?

[00:58:21] You know how at the end of flights they'll be like, we've got a special deal for you if you sign up for a credit card today. No. So I got a spirit airlines credit card and it could have been, you know, handled by charity. I don't remember, but. Wow. It's one of the more embarrassing things about me that I had a spirit airlines credit card. What was the credit limit on that? Yeah. What is that? They give you a $10 credit limit or what? [00:58:50] Brother, you telling me I have an allowance from the credit union? Like, oh, no, no, you can't spend more than 3k. Yeah. And if you go over, Jabba the Hutt comes to your house. Wait, I'm like, 3k? Chase, you got to get your credit checked to my man. I thought he was actually really good, brother. Okay, there we go. There we go. Mr. YouTube. He bought a house. He bought a house. Good for you. Hey, I'm more successful than you, Jonathan. I've been to the ocean several times. I love how I tried to take things away from Jonathan.

Um, Bran, I appreciate you trying to throw that out there, but the target seems to be social. This is going on too long. I can't stop. You talk too much. I can't stop. Because of a feather.
