We meet Leah and Graham. Leah is Jewish but has always loved the idea of Christmas, so when Graham invites her to celebrate Christmas with his family and meet his parents, she jumps at the chance.
First, they visit her parents for a Hanukkah celebration, and it’s a great time. Graham, however, warns her not to expect too much when they visit his family—just in case she’s disappointed. But when they arrive at his parents’ house, it’s a full-on Christmas wonderland. Leah is blown away—it’s everything she’d hoped for.
But then… Graham’s mom happens. She’s super serious, very intense about her schedule, doesn’t allow anyone to just rip open presents, and insists on fancy Christmas pajamas instead of fun ones. Leah quickly realizes that Graham’s mom is going to make things… difficult. Case in point: she even asks Leah to change her Christmas sweater.
The tension builds as Leah continues to clash with Graham’s mom, and Graham finds himself awkwardly stuck in the middle—handling it poorly, to say the least.
Leah’s big moment arrives during the gingerbread house competition. She absolutely crushes it, complete with a smoking chimney. And it’s clear that Graham’s mom is not amused. Leah turns to Graham, like, Why didn’t you warn me to let your mom win? And Graham just shrugs and says, Maybe I didn’t want her to win!
The awkwardness keeps escalating. Leah accidentally breaks some vases that Graham’s ex-girlfriend, Julia, made and sold at a Christmas market. And then—of course—Julia shows up to hang out. AWKWARD.
Things go from bad to worse when Leah’s snowman is less than Pinterest-perfect. Graham tries to lighten the mood with a snowball fight, but Leah accidentally nails his mom in the face. Yikes.
Later, Graham tries to reassure Leah, telling her he wants her to stay. But then things get even weirder when his sister announces she’s dropping out of business school to start an artisanal pickle company. The family is not thrilled. And to top it all off, Graham’s dad drops a bombshell, saying he’s been waiting for Graham to return home and join the family bank.
After dinner, Graham brushes it off: Oh, my dad always says stuff like that. Don’t worry, I’m not moving.
On Christmas Eve, Graham gives Leah… a gift basket. She’s like, Oh, this is… nice. Meanwhile, she’s gone all out, giving him a memory book filled with every single date they’ve ever been on.
But then, a twist: Graham’s mom suddenly does a 180 and starts showering Leah with praise, calling her so wonderful. Even Julia apologizes for overstepping. Things are really turning around for Leah!
Except… she can’t find Graham anywhere. She uses Find My Friends and sees he’s at the general store. When she gets there, she’s stunned to see her parents are there too.
They all end up back at Graham’s family’s house, where Graham announces, I didn’t just get you a gift basket for Christmas—I also got you this. And then, boom—he pulls out a ring and proposes! Big kisses, big celebration.
The next morning, everyone wakes up on Christmas Day and celebrates together as one big, happy family.

[00:00:01] Hi, I'm Bran and I love Hallmark Christmas Hanukkah movies.
[00:00:06] I'm Brian, I like Hallmark Christmas Hanukkah movies.
[00:00:09] I'm Dan and I despise Hallmark Christmas Hanukkah movies and this is the Deck The Hallmark Podcast.
[00:00:14] Deck The Hallmark, it's this podcast.
[00:00:20] Friends host this podcast.
[00:00:25] We hope you like this jolly podcast.
[00:00:32] Well, well, well, hello everybody.
[00:00:34] Welcome to another episode of Deck The Hallmark.
[00:00:37] We're having a lot of fun here.
[00:00:40] We only have one more full weekend left.
[00:00:44] Can you believe that?
[00:00:45] This is a medium week though, right?
[00:00:47] This is a big week.
[00:00:48] Oh, it is?
[00:00:49] Yeah.
[00:00:49] Because right now as we speak, Christmas Con's happening.
[00:00:52] Holy cow.
[00:00:53] That's right.
[00:00:54] We got it yesterday, we loaded in, then we came back here, we're doing this, we'll be up there for the opening.
[00:01:00] We'll make it.
[00:01:01] Nothing but time.
[00:01:02] No, we're not up against it at all.
[00:01:03] You guys, when you come in, say hello, buy a shirt, take a pic.
[00:01:09] We'd love to see you.
[00:01:10] And we got to get right back down to Greenville.
[00:01:11] But also we need your Christmas cards.
[00:01:13] That's right.
[00:01:14] Oh, we would like to close the year as we have the last few years with a mailbag episode.
[00:01:19] Mail time.
[00:01:19] And so we really need them.
[00:01:22] We really need them in Quick.
[00:01:23] And so if you haven't mailed it, probably today, I don't know how the USPS works these
[00:01:27] days, but send it in.
[00:01:30] If you're going to mail us one, mail it today or just bring it to Christmas Con.
[00:01:33] If you're coming to Christmas Con and we can bring it on.
[00:01:36] Give it to Aaron.
[00:01:36] We'd love, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:01:38] We'll give it to us.
[00:01:38] If you give it to us.
[00:01:39] Oh, yeah.
[00:01:40] It'll disappear.
[00:01:41] 25% chance it makes it back.
[00:01:43] That's pretty good.
[00:01:44] But Aaron, it's a 99% chance.
[00:01:46] There's always a crazy thing.
[00:01:48] Yeah.
[00:01:49] You can't say 100.
[00:01:50] Nobody's 100.
[00:01:50] You meet a prince.
[00:01:52] Something happens.
[00:01:53] Yeah.
[00:01:53] All bets are off.
[00:01:54] We don't want to say 100% because there would be the, I say 100% and then something would
[00:01:58] happen.
[00:01:59] Meets a prince, never comes back to work.
[00:02:01] Yes.
[00:02:01] Travels to the foreign country.
[00:02:02] The convention center burns down.
[00:02:04] Doesn't give us the cards back.
[00:02:06] We can't get in trouble.
[00:02:06] Yeah.
[00:02:07] If you're also coming to Christmas Con, you could pick up a copy of Christmas Movie Magic
[00:02:11] because let's be honest, you're cutting it close at this point to get it to be able
[00:02:15] to play with the last batch of movies.
[00:02:17] And so you'll be able to buy one at the old Christmas Con.
[00:02:21] Come see us in person.
[00:02:23] We'd sign them too.
[00:02:24] I mean, we'll sign anything.
[00:02:25] Anything?
[00:02:26] We'll sign anything?
[00:02:27] Yeah.
[00:02:27] You're going to speak for yourself here.
[00:02:28] I will not sign anything.
[00:02:29] What's something you wouldn't sign?
[00:02:31] So many things.
[00:02:32] A pig.
[00:02:33] Would you sign a baby's head?
[00:02:34] If the mom or the dad said, please sign my baby's head?
[00:02:38] The mom has to, right?
[00:02:39] I would not sign a baby's head.
[00:02:41] No.
[00:02:41] Wow.
[00:02:41] You draw the line on a baby's head.
[00:02:43] Okay.
[00:02:43] I don't know if that baby wants me to put Sharpie on their head.
[00:02:46] What if they do?
[00:02:47] You can see it in their eyes.
[00:02:48] What if they say?
[00:02:49] If the toddler, if like a 40 year old asks me to sign their head, then I'll sign their
[00:02:52] head.
[00:02:52] What if the baby hands you the Sharpie?
[00:02:55] And says, sign my head?
[00:02:56] Then I'll sign their head.
[00:02:57] With their eyes.
[00:02:57] What if they say, my head.
[00:03:00] And kind of like if you squint.
[00:03:01] And I could tell.
[00:03:02] Yeah.
[00:03:03] Yeah, I'm signing that baby's head.
[00:03:04] For sure.
[00:03:11] You got to think it through.
[00:03:12] I personally wouldn't sign a baby's head.
[00:03:13] No matter what the baby says.
[00:03:15] Of course not.
[00:03:15] It's a gotcha question.
[00:03:17] Classic brain gotcha.
[00:03:18] That's just me.
[00:03:19] It's just you.
[00:03:19] It doesn't make Dan a bad person.
[00:03:21] Because he hates babies.
[00:03:22] That's right.
[00:03:23] I'm excited about Christmas con though.
[00:03:25] I'm excited to go back up there today.
[00:03:27] Yeah.
[00:03:28] And loaded was a lot of fun.
[00:03:29] We had a lot of fun with loaded.
[00:03:30] It's cold up there.
[00:03:31] What happened with Lenny?
[00:03:32] And if word gets out, what happened?
[00:03:34] Oh no.
[00:03:35] It wasn't our fault.
[00:03:36] No, Lenny.
[00:03:37] What happened to Lenny.
[00:03:38] And Lenny's fine?
[00:03:40] Lenny's fine.
[00:03:40] Yes.
[00:03:40] And Lenny's fine.
[00:03:42] And so we can't.
[00:03:43] We're not.
[00:03:44] Get in trouble.
[00:03:45] We're not even in the state anymore.
[00:03:46] Tonight we're going to home alone Macaulay Culkin.
[00:03:49] Oh yeah.
[00:03:50] Oh yeah.
[00:03:50] That I forgot about until right now.
[00:03:52] Oh yeah.
[00:03:52] We've been talking about it all season.
[00:03:54] We ran on back down here for Saturday morning.
[00:03:56] I've heard it's a lot of fun.
[00:03:59] I've heard it's a lot of fun.
[00:04:00] You've heard stuff on it?
[00:04:01] I've heard the early reviews are in and there's a lot of fun, some good behind the scenes
[00:04:05] stories.
[00:04:05] And I'm really excited.
[00:04:06] We're going to be there in Newark.
[00:04:07] Get your tickets.
[00:04:08] And listen, I've never met Macaulay and I won't this weekend.
[00:04:12] Nope.
[00:04:12] Keeping the streak going.
[00:04:14] I have to feel like we are getting close to some sort of Macaulay Culkin home alone.
[00:04:20] You have to feel that way.
[00:04:21] Because we just got a new commercial with Uber, Uber Eats.
[00:04:25] Apparently he did a campaign with Uber Eats where it was one day where you could order
[00:04:30] carolers through the Uber Eats app and they use Macaulay Culkin and they do a couple of
[00:04:36] little home alone.
[00:04:36] It's not like a whole thing.
[00:04:38] It's coming.
[00:04:39] Dude.
[00:04:39] And Daniel's in his prime right now.
[00:04:41] Between this tour.
[00:04:42] You get hard back out there.
[00:04:43] Oh boy.
[00:04:44] Between this tour.
[00:04:45] And our lifetime.
[00:04:46] Watch out.
[00:04:47] I would cry.
[00:04:48] I would cry.
[00:04:49] I would too.
[00:04:49] I would legitimately cry if they did a new home alone with Daniel Stern and Macaulay Culkin.
[00:04:53] And it crushes.
[00:04:54] Oh, dude.
[00:04:56] I watched the second one with my kids.
[00:04:57] Perfect movie.
[00:04:58] But also I have like, they had a hard time with me going out of town.
[00:05:01] They're already processing it.
[00:05:02] But I have no, I have no, I cannot.
[00:05:06] Oh man.
[00:05:07] Their new favorite movie home alone.
[00:05:08] I couldn't on my best day, look them in the eye and go, I'm, I'm leaving you for five
[00:05:13] days.
[00:05:14] And that's why I turned out VIP tickets.
[00:05:15] Cause I would have been.
[00:05:17] It's a good call, Brian.
[00:05:18] Home alone with Kevin McAllister.
[00:05:20] They would just, they'd never forget me.
[00:05:23] That's right.
[00:05:23] There's another new commercial with Kevin Hart and Macaulay Culkin in it.
[00:05:26] Wow.
[00:05:27] I don't know.
[00:05:28] I, I'm just excited to see Macaulay Culkin back out there doing this thing.
[00:05:32] He seems like he's doing great.
[00:05:33] I love it.
[00:05:34] Married.
[00:05:35] Has kid.
[00:05:36] He's doing great.
[00:05:37] Has kids.
[00:05:38] If you have two kids, I wasn't three.
[00:05:40] You'd sign Macaulay's kid's head, right?
[00:05:42] You would sign that baby's head.
[00:05:43] I would have a really hard time.
[00:05:44] If Macaulay looked at you and said, it'd mean the world to me if you would sign my
[00:05:48] baby's head.
[00:05:48] I'm honest, if Macaulay Culkin or, or.
[00:05:50] Culkin.
[00:05:51] Macaulay Culkin.
[00:05:52] Macaulay Culkin or Brenda Song asked me to sign their kid's head, I would do.
[00:05:56] That's how much respect I have for both.
[00:05:58] And you said literally three.
[00:05:58] If we could just roll the tape.
[00:05:59] Three minutes ago, Brand saying I would never sign a baby's head under any circumstances.
[00:06:03] That's just me.
[00:06:04] I don't think I said any circumstances.
[00:06:05] I think you said exactly that.
[00:06:07] Well, I think everybody knows there is a circumstance.
[00:06:10] The Macaulay Culkin circumstance.
[00:06:11] And it's Macaulay Culkin and or Brenda Song asked me to sign their Macaulay's stance.
[00:06:16] Seems like there's any.
[00:06:16] Any of them.
[00:06:17] Like if you, if those are working, the writer strong, he asked you to sign his baby's head.
[00:06:20] Oh, I have to sign Will Friedel.
[00:06:22] I have to sign him.
[00:06:23] Will doesn't have kids.
[00:06:25] Okay.
[00:06:25] But what if he handed you a kid anyway?
[00:06:28] Sign this baby's head.
[00:06:29] Yes!
[00:06:29] Okay.
[00:06:31] My hands are tied, but they're not, but only one because I can still sign.
[00:06:35] It's a gray area.
[00:06:36] Yeah.
[00:06:36] Um, yeah, but I, I, I'm excited about it.
[00:06:40] I'm excited about that.
[00:06:41] I'm excited about Christmas.
[00:06:42] Come say hi.
[00:06:43] Is what we're trying to say.
[00:06:44] We're going to be there all weekend.
[00:06:45] Brian included.
[00:06:46] I'm there all weekend.
[00:06:47] I mean, you skipped the parade.
[00:06:48] I didn't know.
[00:06:49] Yeah.
[00:06:50] I'm, I'm out on parades for this year, but this experience.
[00:06:53] Yeah.
[00:06:53] I'm in.
[00:06:53] I'm also not telling my kids, but you went, you went back and you watched the Greenville
[00:06:58] parade that we got to judge.
[00:07:00] And what, what, what was your favorite part where you guys talking about how the float reminded
[00:07:04] you guys of me and you wish I was there.
[00:07:07] Uh, really, you know, it was really, you want to say what did you want?
[00:07:10] The right thing was this was this year.
[00:07:12] Right.
[00:07:12] Um, the dancers, what was your favorite thing that Aaron said as your replacement?
[00:07:16] Uh, my favorite thing she said as your reply.
[00:07:19] Yes.
[00:07:19] Oh, as my, I think it was when she said, Brian is doing, uh, I don't know how he does
[00:07:23] this.
[00:07:23] He's not paid enough.
[00:07:24] Um, interesting.
[00:07:26] And his face should be on the poster when she said that part, his face should be on the
[00:07:31] post.
[00:07:31] Yeah.
[00:07:32] I don't remember that part.
[00:07:33] She has been drinking during this.
[00:07:35] You don't remember any of this, huh?
[00:07:36] We had a lot of fun.
[00:07:37] And, and the Greenville parade is so good.
[00:07:39] You don't even have to drink, you know, some of these parties you go to and you're
[00:07:41] like, I'm going to have to.
[00:07:43] Dude.
[00:07:43] I saw it.
[00:07:44] Listen, I'm not throwing shade on any small towns outside of Greenville, but on the gram,
[00:07:49] I saw some pictures from several of our smaller towns parades.
[00:07:53] And I was like, that is a parade befitting of a town that size.
[00:07:56] What Greenville does the parade that they put on for the size of town we are is crazy.
[00:08:01] It's unbelievable how good it is.
[00:08:02] Can I just say this really quickly?
[00:08:04] Um, I, I'm, I'm obviously getting really excited about the, the home alone that we're
[00:08:07] going to tonight.
[00:08:08] And I was reminded, uh, earlier this week of the home alone experience that we went to
[00:08:12] Oh yeah.
[00:08:13] Last year here in Greenville and you can do it again this year.
[00:08:16] Um, check it out on the visit Greenville SC website.
[00:08:18] Okay.
[00:08:19] But I, I forgot how fun, funny that video is.
[00:08:25] And I know I'm talking about a video that I'm in.
[00:08:27] Yes.
[00:08:27] Video is very funny.
[00:08:29] And so go check it out.
[00:08:30] Don't you forget how funny you are.
[00:08:30] You know what I mean?
[00:08:31] Home alone experience.
[00:08:32] Uh, look it up on the, on the YouTube.
[00:08:34] It's a, it's a pretty funny.
[00:08:37] It's pretty funny.
[00:08:38] Right?
[00:08:38] Yeah.
[00:08:39] Every time I walk by ice on me and I think about that video and it brings some joy to
[00:08:43] my life.
[00:08:44] We can't skate.
[00:08:45] Um, that's the bit, but I was thinking if you missed the Greenville parade, our commentary
[00:08:50] and our live stream is still up on YouTube.
[00:08:53] It's still up.
[00:08:53] Um, performing great by the way.
[00:08:56] Deck the hallmark.com slash parade.
[00:08:57] We just got a comment.
[00:08:58] Thank you so much for posting this.
[00:09:00] Your narration was fun and fabulous.
[00:09:02] You're welcome.
[00:09:03] Fun and fabulous.
[00:09:04] We found out who toilet is.
[00:09:05] We did.
[00:09:06] We found out who the toilet was.
[00:09:07] That was a pretty big difference.
[00:09:08] Ryan remembers that bit.
[00:09:09] I love the still is this creeper shot of you that looks like should be nowhere near
[00:09:13] children.
[00:09:15] Yeah, that's true.
[00:09:16] That's a tough shot, buddy.
[00:09:17] Ah, well, you need to serve a subpoena.
[00:09:19] You're there to do.
[00:09:21] Let's talk Leah's perfect gift.
[00:09:22] Shall we?
[00:09:23] Leah's perfect gift.
[00:09:24] Uh, December 8th.
[00:09:26] Two peppermint mochas.
[00:09:28] 2024.
[00:09:29] Hear that from Jack's right now.
[00:09:29] Hallmark channel and it went a little something like this.
[00:09:31] We meet Leah and Graham.
[00:09:34] Uh, Leah is Jewish, but has always loved the idea of Christmas despite celebrating Hanukkah
[00:09:39] every year with her family.
[00:09:40] And so when Graham invites her to celebrate Christmas with his family and meet his parents,
[00:09:46] she jumps at the opportunity.
[00:09:48] First, they go to visit her parents for a Hanukkah celebration.
[00:09:51] It is a great time.
[00:09:53] Graham, however, warns her not to expect this type of gathering at his parents.
[00:09:59] It's going to be a little bit different.
[00:10:00] Hopefully it doesn't disappoint.
[00:10:01] I know how excited you've been to celebrate Christmas.
[00:10:04] But when they arrive at his parents, she's like, I don't know what you're talking about.
[00:10:08] It's a full on Christmas wonderland in here.
[00:10:10] It's amazing.
[00:10:11] She's blown away.
[00:10:12] It is everything that she hoped for.
[00:10:14] But then Graham's mom happens.
[00:10:17] Barbara.
[00:10:19] She's super serious.
[00:10:20] Very intense about the schedule.
[00:10:22] Doesn't allow any.
[00:10:24] Doesn't allow anyone to just rip.
[00:10:25] You're getting old choked up a little bit.
[00:10:26] I know.
[00:10:27] Hard to talk about.
[00:10:28] Uh, I wish I could.
[00:10:30] I wish I could celebrate Christmas for the first time again.
[00:10:32] You know what I mean?
[00:10:34] You want to just rip open presents willy nilly.
[00:10:37] You got to be careful about that and insist on fancy Christmas pajamas instead of fun
[00:10:41] ones.
[00:10:41] Leah quickly realizes that Graham's mom is going to make things different than she expected.
[00:10:51] Case in point, she even asked Leah to change her Christmas sweater before dinner.
[00:10:56] Uh oh, the tension continues to build as Leah continues to clash with Graham's mom and Graham
[00:11:03] finds himself awkwardly stuck in the middle handling it.
[00:11:07] I don't know, like kind of poorly, kind of not great, but occasionally he says things
[00:11:13] and you're like, oh, there he is.
[00:11:14] There's there's old grandma.
[00:11:16] Uh, Leah's big moment arrives during the gingerbread house competition.
[00:11:19] She absolutely crushes it.
[00:11:21] She did the research complete with a smoking chimney, but it becomes clear that Graham's
[00:11:28] mom is not happy about this.
[00:11:30] She wins every year.
[00:11:32] So Leah turns to Graham and is like, why did you not warn me to just let your mom win?
[00:11:36] And Graham's like, maybe I didn't want her to win.
[00:11:39] All right, grandma.
[00:11:40] So, uh, the awkwardness continues to escalate.
[00:11:44] Uh, Leah accidentally breaks some vases that Graham's ex-girlfriend Julia made and sold at a Christmas market.
[00:11:50] And then of course, Julia shows up to hang out at the house.
[00:11:54] Awkward.
[00:11:55] Things go from bad to worse when Leah's snowman is less than Pinterest perfect.
[00:12:00] Graham tries to lighten the mood with a snowball fight, but Leah accidentally nails his mom in the face.
[00:12:07] Oh boy.
[00:12:08] Later, Graham tries to reassure Leah, uh, telling her that he wants her to stay.
[00:12:14] But then things get even weirder when his sister announces that she's dropping out of business school at dinner one night to start an artisanal pickle company.
[00:12:24] The family, well, the parents are not thrilled and Leah kind of tries to come to her defense.
[00:12:31] And to top it off, Graham's dad drops the bombshell saying that he's waiting for Graham to finally return home and join the bank business.
[00:12:39] She's like, I didn't know that that was the plan.
[00:12:42] And he's like, it's not.
[00:12:43] Don't worry.
[00:12:43] My dad, he just says stuff like that.
[00:12:46] Oh, but don't worry.
[00:12:47] I'm not moving on Christmas Eve.
[00:12:49] Uh, Graham gives Leah a gift basket.
[00:12:54] And she's like, this is nice.
[00:12:56] Here is a memory book filled with every single date we've ever been on.
[00:13:03] Boy, Graham my boy.
[00:13:05] Uh, and then a twist happens.
[00:13:07] Uh, Graham's mom suddenly does a 180 and starts like being nice.
[00:13:13] They go to this Christmas party and they have like a moment together between her and Leah.
[00:13:18] And she's like, you're wonderful.
[00:13:19] And even Julia apologizes to her for like overstepping things are turning around for Leah, except she can't find Graham anywhere.
[00:13:27] She uses the like find my friends app and sees that he's at the general store, you know, it's called general store.
[00:13:34] Uh, when she gets there, she's stunned to find her parents are there too.
[00:13:39] They're like, I don't know how we got here.
[00:13:41] This is crazy.
[00:13:42] Uh, they all end up back at Graham's family's house where Graham announces.
[00:13:46] I didn't just get you a gift basket for Christmas.
[00:13:49] I also got you this.
[00:13:52] And he pulls out a ring and he proposes big kisses, big celebration.
[00:13:56] The next morning, everyone wakes up on Christmas day and they celebrate together as one big, happy family.
[00:14:03] And that my friends was Leah's perfect gift.
[00:14:07] We did it to pepper milk.
[00:14:11] That's right.
[00:14:11] Uh, let's take a quick break.
[00:14:12] We'll come back and we'll, uh, break this movie down with four segments here on deck.
[00:14:16] The hallmark.
[00:14:23] Then there's nowhere I'd rather live than Greenville, South Carolina, especially this time of year.
[00:14:28] We just got done with the Christmas parade over the weekend and it was an absolute blast, but the Christmas fun doesn't stop there.
[00:14:36] It's not just Christmas parade and it's done.
[00:14:38] We got so much stuff going on all holiday season long.
[00:14:40] We sure do brand ice on main.
[00:14:42] You can ice skate right on main street in Greenville.
[00:14:45] You've got all kinds of Christmas trees to look at both inside and outside.
[00:14:49] We have the festival of the Christmas trees at the high.
[00:14:51] We've got a Christmas tree lot down there now.
[00:14:53] We sure do.
[00:14:53] I bought my Christmas tree on main street, but you gotta go to the Hyatt hotel right on main street in downtown Greenville.
[00:14:58] They have the festival of the trees, all these trees decorated inside the West End has a giant Christmas tree in the middle of their lobby.
[00:15:05] It's festive.
[00:15:06] It's fun.
[00:15:07] The lights are up all year.
[00:15:08] The big Christmas tree outside of him, Judson.
[00:15:10] You could literally walk up and down our main street and have yourself a festive time.
[00:15:14] And there's so much to do then that there's stuff that we don't even know about.
[00:15:17] People are like, do you know about this?
[00:15:18] I'll watch on social media, visit Greenville SC social media page.
[00:15:22] And I'm like, I didn't know about that.
[00:15:23] There was a holiday convention at the convention center over the weekend.
[00:15:27] I was like, sure do wish I would have known about that.
[00:15:29] There's so much going on this time of year in Greenville.
[00:15:33] It's the best place to go.
[00:15:34] If you would like to find out more, head to visit GreenvilleSC.com to find out more about what's going on in Greenville, South Carolina.
[00:15:45] Welcome back, everybody.
[00:15:47] We're talking about Leah's perfect Christmas.
[00:15:49] We have four segments.
[00:15:50] We're going to break this movie down, share our thoughts on it, and all that good stuff.
[00:15:53] We're going to start with a hot take.
[00:15:54] This is where I share exactly how we felt about this movie.
[00:15:56] We don't hold back.
[00:15:58] And I will start with my friend, Brian.
[00:15:59] Brian, what'd you think about this one?
[00:16:01] Get that bleep button ready, Brian.
[00:16:04] Get it ready.
[00:16:04] Wow.
[00:16:05] Cue it up.
[00:16:09] That family.
[00:16:10] Wow.
[00:16:11] And Graham.
[00:16:12] Wow.
[00:16:13] Not the sister.
[00:16:14] Grandma's parents.
[00:16:15] Holy cow.
[00:16:17] That was so...
[00:16:17] Even the sister some.
[00:16:18] I'm sorry.
[00:16:19] A little bit of the sister.
[00:16:19] A little bit of the sister.
[00:16:20] Yeah.
[00:16:21] He is such a coward.
[00:16:24] Everyone in that family was so frustrating at different points, but consistently, like once
[00:16:30] they started, it was just like uppercut, uppercut, uppercut.
[00:16:35] So people tiptoeing around one person to make them comfortable is like the most frustrating
[00:16:42] thing in the world to me.
[00:16:43] I hate it.
[00:16:43] I remember being a teenager and watching Everybody Loves Raymond and wondering why no one would
[00:16:49] stand up to the mom in Everybody Loves Raymond.
[00:16:52] Yeah.
[00:16:52] Like a few episodes, funny.
[00:16:54] Right.
[00:16:54] And then about episode three or four, I'm like...
[00:16:56] What are we doing?
[00:16:56] Hey, this is happening.
[00:16:58] Yeah.
[00:16:58] I'm not looking at your face.
[00:16:59] Like we're going to talk about this or I'm not looking at you anymore.
[00:17:02] Yeah.
[00:17:03] Like I couldn't do it as a teenager.
[00:17:05] I can't imagine now.
[00:17:06] Yeah.
[00:17:06] Yeah.
[00:17:07] Sorry, go ahead.
[00:17:07] It was brutal.
[00:17:09] Brutal.
[00:17:09] Leah, a rock star.
[00:17:10] I want...
[00:17:11] She deserves everything this wonderful world has to offer for her.
[00:17:15] She needs to get away from these people.
[00:17:17] To be fair, like parts of this, I feel like parts of this, the reason it was so frustrating
[00:17:21] is it was a little bit of like a mirror.
[00:17:23] Like I was seeing things that I've experienced in my life, that I've had in my life.
[00:17:27] I'm like, oh, this hits too close to home.
[00:17:29] Oh, man.
[00:17:30] Have a little backbone, Brian.
[00:17:32] I mean, Graham.
[00:17:32] Oh, I was a lot of it.
[00:17:37] I was just like, oh, so.
[00:17:38] But I was thoroughly entertained the whole time, which I was so mad by.
[00:17:43] I was like, I hate this so much, but I kind of like it too.
[00:17:48] Oh, no.
[00:17:49] I kind of liked a little bit.
[00:17:52] This was all Leah.
[00:17:54] You were doing so well.
[00:17:55] Leah destroyed in this movie.
[00:17:57] Her and her family were amazing.
[00:18:00] The movie, like all that content, they did it so good.
[00:18:03] They made this movie so authentic, I think.
[00:18:06] And it came across like I just, I hated, I hated this family so much.
[00:18:10] I hated everything about it, but I loved Leah and her family.
[00:18:13] And for that reason, I don't know what to do because I hated it.
[00:18:17] But I liked that family so much.
[00:18:18] And Leah was so good.
[00:18:20] And they deserve like to be recognized.
[00:18:22] I don't know, man.
[00:18:24] To quote Bethany Joy Lenz.
[00:18:25] I don't know, man.
[00:18:26] I don't know, man.
[00:18:28] Great call.
[00:18:29] Thanks.
[00:18:31] So, yeah, it's tough because like Leah can do so much better.
[00:18:35] And I think we, she deserves better.
[00:18:38] Yeah.
[00:18:39] And just go tell this family to kick rocks.
[00:18:44] Because everybody, you know, I felt so bad.
[00:18:48] You're doing so well.
[00:18:50] I felt so bad because she, she's like loves the idea of Christmas.
[00:18:54] Yeah.
[00:18:54] She's seen all the movies and she just wants that.
[00:18:56] And then she gets this.
[00:18:58] And it's just tough because clearly look looking from afar where like this family is an absolute
[00:19:08] mess.
[00:19:08] One of the things that Dan, you and I were talking about while we watched is Graham is
[00:19:13] just like, he's like, he can't, you can't see it.
[00:19:16] He can't like, why are you not just saying it?
[00:19:18] And I do think that some of this movie, and I don't know if this is what they were thinking
[00:19:22] about why they were, while they were writing it and making it, but some of it is like,
[00:19:26] you can't see it when you're in it.
[00:19:28] But I would like to think that if I had someone come to my house, all would be revealed,
[00:19:34] right?
[00:19:35] If they were being treated that way, like you don't realize that you're being treated
[00:19:38] that way because you're in it and it's your mom and you know, all this stuff.
[00:19:42] But if someone comes, you gotta think that you'd be like, Hey, just be embarrassed.
[00:19:47] Oh, all of these things.
[00:19:48] Like, let me pull them aside and be like, I don't know if you know that you do this,
[00:19:51] but this is what you do and it's not okay.
[00:19:54] You, I would like to think that that happens and it didn't happen in this movie.
[00:19:59] But Barbara just randomly on Christmas Eve is like, my bad.
[00:20:06] Um, and I think what I would have really appreciated is some sort of conversation or two, or let's
[00:20:15] be honest, probably would take three conversations throughout the movie to be like, Hey mom, you,
[00:20:21] you gotta stop.
[00:20:22] You can't do this.
[00:20:23] Dad, like stop just going a lot.
[00:20:24] Like all of these things, it would have gone a long way with this movie and with the conversation
[00:20:29] that Barbara has would lay at the end of this movie, it would have hit a lot harder if you felt like she was
[00:20:36] learning this lesson and or trying throughout the movie.
[00:20:40] But she just suddenly goes, sorry, I gooped.
[00:20:43] And like, it's just like, so there's lots of things in this movie that I think that they could have changed or done
[00:20:50] that would have elevated this movie, uh, a bit more.
[00:20:54] And we just didn't get that.
[00:20:55] And so what we were left with is another dysfunctional family movie.
[00:20:58] And I just, uh, it didn't, it made me not happy.
[00:21:02] And so that's, that's where I'm at.
[00:21:04] I didn't, I didn't love it.
[00:21:05] I wanted to love it.
[00:21:07] And Leia's great.
[00:21:08] I want to let like great character.
[00:21:09] Yeah.
[00:21:10] She deserves better.
[00:21:11] She deserves better.
[00:21:12] Dang it.
[00:21:12] Dana.
[00:21:13] Yeah.
[00:21:13] I would just say more extreme version of everything that you've already heard aside from the kind
[00:21:17] of loved it part.
[00:21:19] Uh, Leah, the Emily are look the actor.
[00:21:22] I think she's charming.
[00:21:22] And I think her line delivery is great.
[00:21:24] She has some very subtle lines that she says in this movie that are very funny.
[00:21:28] And she's great in this movie.
[00:21:30] Um, I think the problem is, is that this whole meet the parents thing.
[00:21:34] I think that they think that it's funny.
[00:21:37] So like, I think that they think they've pulled off humor, like the, the tree decorating,
[00:21:43] the no snacks, the, um, the, the, the bad food for dinner, the, the pajamas that are too
[00:21:50] big.
[00:21:51] I think they think they're hitting some comedy marks here and they're just not, uh, you know,
[00:21:57] meet the parents is funny because Robert De Niro and Blythe Danner are hilarious.
[00:22:03] Robert De Niro is really funny.
[00:22:04] And Ben Stiller is a character that gets himself into some of these situations and looks like a
[00:22:10] worse character than he is.
[00:22:11] Because that's not what's happening here.
[00:22:13] Leah is a Jewish lady that has an adoration for Christmas.
[00:22:16] That's meeting her boyfriend's parents for the first time.
[00:22:19] And that boyfriend is an absolute piece of crap.
[00:22:24] Uh, not up dude.
[00:22:26] Seriously.
[00:22:27] Like for once in your God forsaken life, look at, look at someone in the eye and go, you
[00:22:34] don't treat people like that.
[00:22:36] Forget the fact that it's my girlfriend.
[00:22:37] You don't just treat.
[00:22:38] It's just inhumane to treat people like that.
[00:22:41] I'm very thankful for an extended family that always seemed to have a revolving door of people
[00:22:46] there at the holidays that weren't related to me.
[00:22:49] And it, it just was normal to me, but I can tell you right now, if anyone was ever treated
[00:22:54] like that at my extended family, I would look somebody in the eye.
[00:22:57] I could be accused of a lot of things.
[00:22:58] I can be accused of being a jerk, but that would happen one time.
[00:23:01] It would happen one time.
[00:23:03] You're not treating people like that.
[00:23:04] I'm out of here.
[00:23:05] You won't see me again.
[00:23:07] It's ridiculous.
[00:23:08] And mom is the worst.
[00:23:10] Evan Roderick, a very close second sister is complicit.
[00:23:14] So is dad.
[00:23:15] This is a monstrous group of people.
[00:23:18] It's not entertaining.
[00:23:19] It's not funny.
[00:23:20] It's not funny.
[00:23:21] And that's the sad part is, is I think they think it's funny.
[00:23:25] Yeah.
[00:23:26] That's the people that made this movie.
[00:23:28] They went, we made a Hanukkah Christmas mashup, meet the parents.
[00:23:33] And this is going to be hilarious.
[00:23:35] They got her pajamas that are too big because the mom is, is feeling like a little insecure.
[00:23:40] They take her ornament off the tree.
[00:23:42] They don't have any snacks.
[00:23:44] It's going to be hilarious.
[00:23:45] It's just gaslighting and mean it isn't, it doesn't work.
[00:23:50] And that's unfortunate because Emily Arlick is giving a great performance.
[00:23:54] The rest of this movie would be great if never saw it again and never aired again.
[00:23:59] Sorry.
[00:24:00] What would you say, Danny, is the difference in your opinion between this family and this
[00:24:06] mom in particular, then Christmas with the Sings, which was one of your favorite movies
[00:24:12] of the year and the dad in that movie, who is a bit of a, I think it's a great question.
[00:24:17] I think one Christmas with the Sings gets the comedic aspect of this balance.
[00:24:22] Right.
[00:24:23] And also everyone acknowledges that the dad is crazy early on.
[00:24:27] Like crazy about the food, the spicy thing, crazy about him reading the Christmas story.
[00:24:32] Everyone acknowledges that he is like going overboard.
[00:24:38] In fact, he gets redirected several times when he's going overboard.
[00:24:42] Yeah.
[00:24:43] And as a whole, they welcome.
[00:24:45] Yeah.
[00:24:46] They're including them.
[00:24:46] They welcome this white dude into their family.
[00:24:49] Right.
[00:24:49] Like they, they want him to be a part of these traditions.
[00:24:52] Uh, so for me, a lot of it is tone and maybe Barbara in Barbara Niven is a talented actor.
[00:24:58] I think maybe in her performance, she probably saw it at the end and saw the edit and went,
[00:25:04] Oh dear God, that did not come off the way I intended it to come off because it's not like
[00:25:09] Barbara Niven doesn't know what she's doing.
[00:25:10] And then I do Peter Gallagher's LaCroix over there.
[00:25:13] He's a, he, he's a good actor.
[00:25:14] I just think that somehow between script editing and directing, they, they, they, they mix some signals here and they look awful.
[00:25:23] That's the problem.
[00:25:24] It's the, it was the constant.
[00:25:26] Uh, we just go along with everything that mom says.
[00:25:30] Yeah.
[00:25:30] That was hard, but also like, how do you, if you want to be in a partnership with someone for life and they see how you just like kowtow to your parents when they're treating you like garbage, what do you think is going to happen?
[00:25:44] Yeah.
[00:25:45] A year, two years.
[00:25:46] Like, what do you think is going to happen?
[00:25:47] And it's just not funny.
[00:25:48] Like the dad and Christmas with the sings was funny.
[00:25:51] Like I got like when I went over my, my, uh, now wife, but at the time girlfriend's house, the first time we had hot pot at the table, I, I, there was some hazing that took place.
[00:26:01] Like they brought out like six utensils that weren't chopsticks for me.
[00:26:04] Like it was a whole bit, like there's a way to do this and it'd be funny.
[00:26:08] I want to be very clear about that.
[00:26:10] What's going on here is, is not that it just isn't.
[00:26:13] And it didn't work at all.
[00:26:14] Uh, it's time for all the fields where we're talking about what this movie is feels Bri.
[00:26:17] Yeah.
[00:26:18] A, uh, I do think one thing you mentioned there, brand was if we had seen the mom's journey a little bit more, that could have been a legit feels like there could have been moments where she's like having these one-on-one talks with people and these realizations.
[00:26:29] We didn't get that.
[00:26:30] Unfortunately, the, the feels for me was Leah's quick bond with Graham sister.
[00:26:34] Like immediately they bonded and they, I thought that was really great.
[00:26:37] And that felt really natural.
[00:26:39] And they felt like they were going to be friends forever.
[00:26:41] Even after she dumped Graham as she should.
[00:26:43] Yeah.
[00:26:43] I think the thing that worked for me and I, like, I wish that others would have joined her in this, but the, the throughout the movie, she began to like subtly like jab Barbara, like with the pickle situation.
[00:26:56] She was like, you know, it'd go really well with this.
[00:26:58] Yeah.
[00:26:58] Artisan.
[00:26:59] Yeah.
[00:26:59] Like these little things throughout the movie where it's like, I don't know what they're like, what they're doing and why they're not talking to you like this, but you have to like, like just support your daughter.
[00:27:11] Yeah.
[00:27:11] Artisan pickles.
[00:27:12] So it's like little things like that.
[00:27:15] And yeah, it's just, and I had like, well, I had like confused feels about how to feel about this proposal because again, if, if, if, if, if our guy Graham would have had even one conversation.
[00:27:26] We're with his mom where it's like, Hey mom, God, like I would have been like, yay.
[00:27:31] Graham's going to stand up and like do stuff.
[00:27:34] And then we didn't get any of Christmas with the things a great comp because not only does the dad have that great conversation with the other dad.
[00:27:40] Right.
[00:27:40] But also I believe has a great conversation with the son and, and so, and with her and in this movie, I don't even think Barbara Niven comes out and goes, I'm sorry.
[00:27:49] I was a monster.
[00:27:50] I'm pretty sure they have a conversation where she's like, I was intimidated, but it's like a one for one situation, which we'll get to in the way it was.
[00:27:56] Yeah.
[00:27:57] So they never have a real come to Jesus meeting.
[00:27:59] I think that's the other thing.
[00:28:00] So yeah, that's tough.
[00:28:01] It's tough.
[00:28:02] I'll take all those feels.
[00:28:03] Okay.
[00:28:03] Great.
[00:28:03] Great.
[00:28:04] Let's take a quick break.
[00:28:04] We'll come back and we'll get to the way weather.
[00:28:06] What the hallmark here on what's up?
[00:28:18] What's going on?
[00:28:19] Thanks for joining us.
[00:28:20] You can, you can watch us on file.
[00:28:22] Hopefully you're doing that.
[00:28:23] And may I recommend this.
[00:28:25] You just go ahead and we're getting close to the end of the season, right?
[00:28:29] Yeah.
[00:28:29] Typically hallmark this final week, especially the week of Christmas, they begin to play all the, all the movies again.
[00:28:35] If you are just now joining filo and you feel like you missed them, you can search for them, save them, and they're going to hang out in your DVR.
[00:28:41] Huh?
[00:28:42] Yeah.
[00:28:42] And you can do the one button ad skip and you can have Christmas all year.
[00:28:44] One button ad skip, unlimited DVR.
[00:28:46] I mean, it just, it pays for itself.
[00:28:48] Christmas all year.
[00:28:48] It's unbelievable.
[00:28:49] File it out if you such a DTH.
[00:28:50] Let's get to the wait what?
[00:28:51] That's where we're talking about one of the few minutes go wait what?
[00:28:53] Brian.
[00:28:54] Yeah.
[00:28:54] They kept saying dinner soon, dinner soon, dinner soon, but not, not like I didn't believe
[00:29:00] it once because nobody is in the kitchen.
[00:29:02] Nobody shows the kid.
[00:29:03] You don't see or smell a thing.
[00:29:05] No.
[00:29:05] Like dinner is not happening.
[00:29:07] They're not making food.
[00:29:09] So maybe they ordered that out.
[00:29:10] Maybe that's just through that in the microwave.
[00:29:12] That's a frozen meal, but like no work in the kitchen.
[00:29:15] Uh, I don't know if it is the Campbell soup product placement coming up for you.
[00:29:20] Oh, no, I missed that.
[00:29:21] I think placement.
[00:29:21] I missed that.
[00:29:22] Okay.
[00:29:22] So not a wait what, but just deserves a mention.
[00:29:25] Shout out to Campbell's.
[00:29:26] Shout out to Campbell's.
[00:29:26] The midnight baked mac and cheese, a terrible midnight snack.
[00:29:31] Yeah.
[00:29:32] Yeah.
[00:29:32] So much work.
[00:29:35] So much cheese shredding.
[00:29:37] So many dirty dishes.
[00:29:37] There's gotta be a bag of something in the pantry or just somewhere.
[00:29:41] You can't even do a midnight snack, right?
[00:29:43] Yeah.
[00:29:44] He bakes an entire mac and cheese.
[00:29:46] Just the worst.
[00:29:47] I mean, I will say I will get like grant him that the meal was terrible.
[00:29:51] She didn't have lunch.
[00:29:52] There were no snacks.
[00:29:53] So he was almost making her like a second meal.
[00:29:56] And I appreciate that.
[00:29:57] Sure.
[00:29:58] For a midnight snack.
[00:29:59] Good gosh.
[00:29:59] Yeah.
[00:30:00] A lot of work.
[00:30:01] A lot of work.
[00:30:01] So many dishes.
[00:30:02] Uh, you tell me mom's not going to know that he's out of here.
[00:30:05] Come on.
[00:30:06] You know, he's afraid for his life.
[00:30:08] That's right.
[00:30:08] The last one was Leah didn't talk to her mom once this whole trip.
[00:30:12] I would have thought she'd call.
[00:30:14] At least a phone call.
[00:30:15] Hey, how's it going?
[00:30:16] They're so close.
[00:30:17] Yeah.
[00:30:17] I think part of that was my what the homework, which how, how far in advance did the parents
[00:30:21] Leah's parents know they were coming in for Christmas Eve night.
[00:30:24] Yeah.
[00:30:25] That's a big part of this movie.
[00:30:26] Yeah.
[00:30:26] That seems to need planning.
[00:30:28] And I, you know, so.
[00:30:29] Right.
[00:30:30] Um, so one of the things that happens in this movie is she gets, uh, the PJs and she opens
[00:30:36] it up and it's like, these are huge.
[00:30:37] These are going to, these are too big, big for me.
[00:30:39] And he's like, I told you a medium.
[00:30:41] Well, earlier on in the movie, she gives him a Christmas sweater.
[00:30:45] And I thought that that was going to swallow him whole.
[00:30:47] And so maybe just no one in this movie knows how to shot.
[00:30:51] Let's it's always tough with, with apparel.
[00:30:54] Cause you never know what to do.
[00:30:55] Maybe we should all just call it quits and just like, yeah, here's this.
[00:30:58] You buy it.
[00:30:59] You buy with what you are comfortable wearing.
[00:31:02] Cause I don't want to mess with this because everybody in this movie doesn't know how to
[00:31:05] shop for apparel for each other.
[00:31:08] Um, I, you know, when I knew that they should, that she should break up with him is so right
[00:31:13] when they get there, he, she's like, I'm hungry.
[00:31:15] When are we going to eat?
[00:31:16] And he's like, yeah, sorry.
[00:31:17] We didn't stop for lunch.
[00:31:18] When they go down and we see the first meal and he says, Hey, look over here.
[00:31:25] Um, mom doesn't cook very well.
[00:31:27] So we just kind of, we just kind of act like that's when I would have been like, why didn't
[00:31:31] we stop for lunch on the way?
[00:31:33] Yes.
[00:31:33] You knew correct.
[00:31:35] This is your life.
[00:31:36] Yeah.
[00:31:36] I didn't know that.
[00:31:37] Terrible.
[00:31:37] You need to stop for lunch on the way.
[00:31:40] Yeah.
[00:31:40] If, if you're going to do this whole thing where we just act like mom is a good cook,
[00:31:45] you have to start.
[00:31:46] That's right.
[00:31:46] You have to be polite and eat food.
[00:31:48] You don't like eat that's fine beforehand, but you prep got that.
[00:31:51] You gotta get out of here.
[00:31:53] You know, when I knew everything, everything I needed to know about our guy, Graham is when
[00:31:56] I spotted the gold chain under his PJs.
[00:31:59] Yeah.
[00:32:00] You told me everything I need to know about this guy.
[00:32:02] You don't trust that guy.
[00:32:04] Come on.
[00:32:04] I don't trust that guy in a gold chain.
[00:32:06] It's crazy.
[00:32:07] He's done some stuff.
[00:32:08] He's got a past and potentially he doesn't have a future because he's wearing a gold chain
[00:32:12] and that's going to leave some shady stuff.
[00:32:14] Um, what up with that?
[00:32:15] Uh, coat room, green room situation that Barbara was sitting in.
[00:32:20] She like sneaks into this area and there's like coach like on a coat rack for, you know,
[00:32:25] it's a great coat check.
[00:32:26] This is wonderful.
[00:32:27] There's also tiny table, little mirror on it as if it's like a place where you can put
[00:32:32] your coat and then, you know, see how things are going.
[00:32:36] But it's like the mirror is not big enough.
[00:32:38] It's pretty, it's seen.
[00:32:39] I don't know what this area was, but clearly they did cause they both went there and it seemed
[00:32:43] like a good place to go.
[00:32:44] Uh, last but not least overnight delivery is how the, uh, how Barbara got her parents,
[00:32:52] the pajamas, the, uh, and so how, how, so that does make me think that this was a little
[00:33:13] which makes it seem like it was a last minute purchase, but also it's Christmas Eve.
[00:33:18] Yeah.
[00:33:18] So that means on the 23rd.
[00:33:20] I don't know.
[00:33:20] I don't even know how to read it, but I don't think there's a scenario.
[00:33:24] To give to her.
[00:33:25] I don't know.
[00:33:25] I don't know how it happened, but Amazon's really, really doing it.
[00:33:30] Coming in clutch.
[00:33:30] Really doing it.
[00:33:32] Uh, Dano.
[00:33:32] Uh, yeah, I did think for sure Graham's dad was Peter Gallagher.
[00:33:37] Uh, it is, it's uncanny.
[00:33:40] It is this guy.
[00:33:41] Yeah.
[00:33:42] The, the, this guy is giving a Peter Gallagher.
[00:33:45] He's giving Peter Gallagher.
[00:33:47] He is.
[00:33:47] He couldn't be more Peter Gallagher without being him himself.
[00:33:51] You should, you should not watch this movie, but you should find a still shot of this guy
[00:33:54] just so you know that I'm not crazy.
[00:33:57] Um, early in the movie, they're all sitting around the living room downstairs.
[00:34:00] They maybe decorate the tree and Leah's like, I need to go to the restroom.
[00:34:03] She's like sad and wants to go like call her friend.
[00:34:06] And the dad is like, yeah, it's upstairs and to the right.
[00:34:09] That giant mansion.
[00:34:10] I have a restroom downstairs.
[00:34:11] Not for the guests.
[00:34:12] You ain't got a guest bathroom downstairs.
[00:34:16] Yeah.
[00:34:16] You would think they would want the guests.
[00:34:17] Yeah.
[00:34:19] We don't, we don't have one.
[00:34:21] We don't, we don't have one.
[00:34:22] There's nothing that we can do.
[00:34:23] Don't you dare look for something to eat while you're up there.
[00:34:25] Um, I knew this movie was bad.
[00:34:26] I knew this movie was bad from the get go.
[00:34:29] And I, I, the Graham character, not having any sort of like gumption.
[00:34:33] I mean, I have a dog named Graham who wants to snuggle you all day, who has more of a
[00:34:37] backbone than this character.
[00:34:39] But there's a point in this movie.
[00:34:41] Um, I lost my notes completely.
[00:34:44] Hold on.
[00:34:44] You just want to talk about your dog.
[00:34:46] I want to talk about my dog.
[00:34:47] And I got out.
[00:34:48] Graham's watching.
[00:34:49] He doesn't, he doesn't confront his mom all movie long.
[00:34:51] And then in the green coat room, whatever we're calling that Leah and the mom, Barbara
[00:34:56] Niven are talking.
[00:34:57] And she's like, uh, why'd you take my ornament down?
[00:35:00] And she's like, well, I took it down.
[00:35:02] Cause it really wasn't my style.
[00:35:03] And then she's like, I'm sorry for giving you pajamas that were too big on purpose.
[00:35:08] Deal.
[00:35:08] Are we even deal?
[00:35:09] Deal.
[00:35:10] Those are two things the mom does.
[00:35:12] So she, the, the basically what happened there, the apology that took place.
[00:35:18] There was you took down my ornament that I, I made for you and you gave me pajamas that
[00:35:25] were too big.
[00:35:26] We're even, does that seem like it's a, it's fair deal?
[00:35:32] Yeah, it's a fair deal.
[00:35:34] I was terrible.
[00:35:35] And then I was terrible.
[00:35:37] I think that can't, that's how canceling works.
[00:35:40] It cancels each other out.
[00:35:42] Yeah.
[00:35:42] We're good to go.
[00:35:42] And then even if she's like, if she's apologizing for not somehow knowing the style of Christmas
[00:35:49] ornament that Graham's mom, it's still way worse.
[00:35:53] The pajamas way worse regardless.
[00:35:55] Because Graham told her medium.
[00:35:57] That's right.
[00:35:58] Yeah.
[00:35:59] And last but not least, they did not have the rights to the diehard Christmas ornament for
[00:36:03] the movie.
[00:36:03] They quickly show you the diehard Christmas ornament, but it is not Bruce Willis in the
[00:36:10] picture.
[00:36:10] I don't know what happened there.
[00:36:12] They do a closeup of this diehard ornament and it, it, it is so clearly not Bruce Willis.
[00:36:18] I don't know why.
[00:36:19] Maybe this was an Easter egg and it's a better what the hallmark, but I have no clue why they
[00:36:24] did that at all.
[00:36:26] It's not Bruce who then when it's not Bruce Willis, it looked closer to Peter Benson,
[00:36:31] the director than it did Bruce Willis.
[00:36:32] Do you think it was Peter?
[00:36:33] I might be.
[00:36:34] Who knows?
[00:36:34] I hope so.
[00:36:36] Let's get to what the hallmarks were.
[00:36:37] We wonder what could have been.
[00:36:38] Maybe have a good clear.
[00:36:38] Any questions we still have, right?
[00:36:40] Yeah.
[00:36:40] I've wondered about the artisanal pickle business and how long it takes for that to fail.
[00:36:45] Is that even get off the ground?
[00:36:47] You're on Barbara's side.
[00:36:49] Does it even get off the ground?
[00:36:50] That's why you love this movie.
[00:36:51] Does it even get off the ground?
[00:36:52] You know, that's a, so it can't last, I mean, maybe three months max.
[00:36:56] How long does pickles take to, do you have to sit before you start?
[00:37:00] Yeah.
[00:37:01] How long does pickles take to pick?
[00:37:02] That plus maybe a month is probably how long it lasts.
[00:37:06] Yeah.
[00:37:07] I, yeah.
[00:37:08] Obviously one of the big ones is how long was this proposal?
[00:37:11] Someone in the chat makes a good point.
[00:37:12] They were having, like, he was having some sort of conversation with her dad at the Hanukkah
[00:37:18] celebration.
[00:37:18] And so it seemed like it was pretty rushed to me.
[00:37:22] Yeah.
[00:37:23] And I have a, I know that the dad made this joke about the diamond or whatever.
[00:37:29] And it was kind of like a giveaway he's going to propose.
[00:37:30] But I, in my, in my reading of this movie, my guy Graham panicked after seeing her reaction
[00:37:37] to gift basket and went, I could propose.
[00:37:43] I liked, I liked the idea.
[00:37:45] I wish that his dad didn't make the diamond joke.
[00:37:48] But he'd already written the letter to Santa.
[00:37:50] Yeah.
[00:37:50] I just, I wish that there was a scenario where, cause Graham again, necklace under pajamas.
[00:37:55] Graham is the guy.
[00:37:56] Won't stand up with his mom, necklace under pajamas.
[00:37:58] That sees his girlfriend's reaction to the gift that he threw together and goes, oh
[00:38:05] boy.
[00:38:05] It was a panic proposal if I've ever seen one of his.
[00:38:08] It was a panic proposal.
[00:38:08] So I'm live.
[00:38:09] Dano?
[00:38:09] Yeah.
[00:38:09] Um, so mine is kind of on that same line.
[00:38:13] We have to believe that he's been planning this proposal for a while based upon the information
[00:38:17] we've been given and that the mom didn't know about it until the very last second.
[00:38:21] And that's why she ordered the pajamas because there are, he writes the letter to Santa early.
[00:38:25] The dad says diamonds by mistake.
[00:38:27] There's a lot of clues there.
[00:38:29] The thing in the part when they have a free afternoon, which they weren't supposed to
[00:38:33] have.
[00:38:33] And he says, I've got something for you.
[00:38:35] And he reaches into his pocket to get the last piece of gum.
[00:38:38] Was that on purpose?
[00:38:40] Like that scene is so much.
[00:38:43] Yeah.
[00:38:43] Like, did he plan a fake proposal to, to trick her?
[00:38:49] No, no.
[00:38:50] He's like, he's busy adjusting his gold chain.
[00:38:52] He's not playing stuff like that.
[00:38:54] Gold chain under pajamas.
[00:38:55] That's too next level for a guy.
[00:38:56] I just.
[00:38:56] He's got a few deals in the work that was going to be huge if they hit.
[00:38:59] If they all hit.
[00:39:00] If they hit.
[00:39:00] Even one hit.
[00:39:01] If one hit, he's good.
[00:39:03] But if all three hit.
[00:39:03] Yeah.
[00:39:04] But if it's not on purpose.
[00:39:05] It's a multi-billion dollar industry.
[00:39:06] He has to see that this was a mistake to do that.
[00:39:09] I've got one stick of gum.
[00:39:11] What I need to do is hold on one second.
[00:39:12] I've got something for you.
[00:39:13] In this magical moment.
[00:39:14] Last stick of gum.
[00:39:15] What?
[00:39:16] You can't do that, bro.
[00:39:17] You can't.
[00:39:18] So that's all I got.
[00:39:19] Can't do it.
[00:39:20] He did it.
[00:39:20] We did it, everybody.
[00:39:21] Congratulations to us.
[00:39:24] Join us.
[00:39:25] Christmas con.
[00:39:25] Come say hi.
[00:39:26] We're going to be there all weekend.
[00:39:26] It's going to be a lot of fun.
[00:39:27] Of course, we'll still be here tomorrow.
[00:39:29] Obviously.
[00:39:29] Don't you worry.
[00:39:29] Pretty little hearts.
[00:39:30] We'll be here back in studio.
[00:39:32] It's an expensive trip for us.
[00:39:33] Yeah, it's a whole thing.
[00:39:34] Please come and buy all the merch.
[00:39:35] Thousands of dollars.
[00:39:36] Please buy a shirt.
[00:39:37] For sure.
[00:39:37] We'll see you then and we'll see you tomorrow.
[00:39:39] Until then, maybe we first wish you a Merry Christmas.
