The movie kicks off in... Chicago. But if you think that the Pentatonix are only popular in New York City, you'd be incorrect. Layla is at the airport to catch a flight home to New York City, but her flight is delayed. She FaceTimes her boyfriend, Tanner, and says, "Don't worry, I'll be home before our annual Pentatonix Christmas concert." He rolls his eyes and reminds her—and us—that they go every year. She says, "AND IT'S AWESOME." Tanner, not so sure. But she’s taking the delay well because she gets lounge access. While getting food, she bumps into a good-looking fella with a ton of layers on, and he has a couple of teacups in his hands—he says they're Christmas gifts. She sits down, prepared to watch It's a Wonderful Life on her phone and drink some wine, but ANOTHER hunk sits next to her. They immediately start hitting it off. His name is James—some might say Jimmy, but who knows? She finds one of the teacups in her bag, and he's like, "Just keep it. Maybe you can fill it with..." and they both say "paperclips" at the same time. She introduces him to Pentatonix, and he’s like, “I gotta get out of here ASAP." His flight is boarding. On his way out, he shoots his shot—he says, "In one year, if for some reason you're single, let's meet up at the Christmas Eve Pentatonix show." She says, “I’m flattered, but probably not happening, maybe.”
Cut to one year later, and she did use that cup for paperclips and whatnot. She is still with Tanner. She goes home early to set up a romantic night with Tanner, but... he’s with another girl! IT IS SO OVER WITH TANNER! She’s moping around with her BFF and talking about airport James. Her friend tries to look up airport James on social media. Suddenly, she remembers THE PLAN! But she doesn’t have Pentatonix tickets this year because Tanner wanted to go see Macklemore. And tickets are sold out. She’s bummed, but then she sees a picture of James buying a ticket on the website! She’s committed to getting the tickets! But no luck. So, as a last-ditch effort, they decide to give Impromptu a shot—a service that can get you anything you need, at a cost. And who works at Impromptu? Teacup guy from the airport. His name is Teddy. Layla is going to be his client. He knows he knows her from somewhere but can’t place it. He looks up to see if they have a ticket in the database, but no luck. He says he knows a guy, but he has to go see him in person. She insists on going with him. His guy is nowhere to be found, but she thinks she found a guy who’s willing to sell his ticket to her. So, they go to meet him at this bar. She pays him more than she has by giving him a necklace. Turns out, it was a ticket for last year! While that’s happening, Teddy has slid into the Pentatonix DMs. They don’t respond right away, but Teddy keeps sending them info, including that he got pepper-sprayed—he really needs that ticket.
While waiting to hear back from them, Teddy gets a lead—one of his clients is interested in potentially selling his ticket. Turns out, the clients are very odd but interested in giving them the ticket in exchange for them picking up a Chanel purse for him. They get to the Chanel store and have to wait in a very long line. Teddy flirts with a Chanel worker, and it’s looking good because that worker is going to snag the last one for them. But Layla gets "Christmas shoe'd" and decides they deserve the bag instead. Teddy keeps messaging Pentatonix, and Pentatonix is now cheering for Teddy and Layla to end up together. And after Teddy cooks her an amazing meal, Layla might be rooting for that too. Suddenly, Teddy gets good news—his cousin has two Pentatonix tickets. When they get there, they find out it's a bit more complicated. In order to get those two tickets, they have to team up to win a Christmas lip-sync competition. They work on it, then take a pit stop in the kitchen, and it’s at this point that she sees the same little teacup. It all comes together that they met last Christmas. There's a baking montage, and the sparks are beginning to fly hard.
She ends up falling asleep on the couch. The next day, they go to the performance and crush it... AND IT ENDS WITH A KISS. They... get second place.
The Pentatonix have been keeping up with it on social media, and even though they think Teddy and Layla should be together, they think Layla has the right to make a well-rounded choice. So, Layla is going to get a ticket, but Teddy has to come too and play Santa. Turns out, the Pentatonix just want to know if Teddy has a crush on Layla.
And it turns out Layla has completely fallen for Teddy. She decides she’s going to go to the show to get TEDDY, not James. So she heads out into the snow as that classic Christmas song, "Hallelujah," plays. James gets to the venue and stands outside, flowers in hand, waiting on Layla. He starts walking away as she runs in. She gets her ticket from the box office and decides she needs to see Teddy ASAP. She goes to run backstage and bumps into James first. She says, "Oh hey, James, I’m not here for you, I’m here for Teddy. Sorry about that." Turns out, he was there to meet another woman anyway.
Teddy very nervously comes down the chimney on stage as Santa and makes a big love declaration, hoping that Layla is listening. She’s not, though, because she’s still trying to get in through the back door. Finally, she runs back up to the front, barges in, and yells that she feels the same way. They share a big kiss as the Pentatonix sing around them.

[00:00:41] Everybody happy Monday to ya. Hopefully you had a good weekend. I know I did.
[00:00:47] Oh I did too but you know what is really needed by a lot of people right now is a pick me up on a Monday and Deck The Netflix being back is that pick me up.
[00:00:55] That's right.
[00:00:55] I mean, let's go.
[00:00:57] Jax, hello to you. How are you?
[00:01:02] Glad to be here with you guys.
[00:01:05] I am completely enthused by this movie.
[00:01:08] I'm in the mood to fight. I don't know why.
[00:01:11] Yeah?
[00:01:11] Yeah?
[00:01:11] But I'm about to get spicy about this because I'm like very passionately into this movie.
[00:01:18] I love it. I also love your sweatshirt Jax. Can you tell me more about it?
[00:01:21] Oh my gosh.
[00:01:23] I was gonna say stand up but I don't know.
[00:01:25] Yeah. Just do whatever you want. Whatever you're comfortable.
[00:01:28] If you could just get your torso in the screen, Jax. Just your torso.
[00:01:32] I just want to tell you, I love this new merch so much. Not only does it fit like a dream, it's so cozy.
[00:01:39] I've been walking around the house with it. It's my pajamas. I've been going outside with it. I've been getting compliments.
[00:01:44] It's Holly and Jolly baby, which I aim to be both of those things on the regular. And it's pink. Thank you.
[00:01:52] You're welcome.
[00:01:53] You're welcome. And we're gonna be selling those. You can buy them now at deckthehomer.com.
[00:01:55] That's right.
[00:01:56] But we're also gonna be selling at Christmas Con as well if you're at Christmas Con.
[00:02:00] And it does come on the online shop. It does come in the sweatshirt form. But also, if you live in a hotter climate, it does come in a t-shirt as well.
[00:02:08] What?
[00:02:08] For those of you like us that we're just hot right now.
[00:02:13] Yes.
[00:02:13] Hot.
[00:02:14] It's a hot weekend.
[00:02:14] It's a hot weekend last Friday here in Greenville.
[00:02:16] How is it out in California, Alonzo?
[00:02:20] The mornings are cool. It's that time of year that fools you into thinking, oh, I'm gonna put on like, you know, something like my rugby shirt or a sweatshirt or something.
[00:02:28] And then by noon, you're like, nope, we're not there yet.
[00:02:31] Yes.
[00:02:32] So it's about layers right now.
[00:02:34] Yeah.
[00:02:35] We were in a rugby league once.
[00:02:37] We were. You and I.
[00:02:38] That's right.
[00:02:39] That's right. The kerfuffles.
[00:02:40] Yeah.
[00:02:41] We don't want to talk about it.
[00:02:42] We weren't very good.
[00:02:43] We weren't very good.
[00:02:58] Including the Netflix, including classics.
[00:03:00] So we'll work for classics as well that you watch this time of year.
[00:03:04] And so pick up a game.
[00:03:05] It is a ton of fun.
[00:03:06] It is a competitive game, but it is also a game that helps you and your loved ones, I think, really tune into the movies.
[00:03:15] For many years, we've been like, it's a great background movie.
[00:03:18] It's a great fold your laundry movie.
[00:03:21] Now we're like, that is a great Christmas movie magic movie.
[00:03:24] Yeah, it is.
[00:03:24] Great. Lots of cards to use.
[00:03:26] So pick one up.
[00:03:27] It's a ton of fun.
[00:03:28] Deckthehomeart.com slash game, Dan.
[00:03:30] Is that right?
[00:03:30] That's right.
[00:03:30] And once you memorize all the cards, what you do is you draw three and you discard them and keep drawing until all the cards are on the table.
[00:03:36] And then you beat everyone with your memory.
[00:03:38] That's how you win Christmas movie magic.
[00:03:41] Take it from me.
[00:03:42] I'm undefeated.
[00:03:43] I'm undefeated.
[00:03:44] The rules state that once they're all out, you have to put them back into a deck.
[00:03:47] So keep three.
[00:03:48] Keep two of three over there somehow.
[00:03:50] I don't know.
[00:03:51] You got to be strategic about that.
[00:03:53] That's right.
[00:03:54] That's right.
[00:03:55] And also hang out with us all holiday season long on Philo, Dan.
[00:03:59] Philo.tv slash DTH.
[00:04:00] You can watch all the homework movies, the laptop movies, the up movies.
[00:04:03] And there's also a ton of classics already on demand that you can watch anytime you want to.
[00:04:10] I saw some movie the other day that was on there.
[00:04:12] I was like, oh, wow.
[00:04:13] That's a big.
[00:04:13] Christmas movies there when you need them.
[00:04:15] That's the thing.
[00:04:16] That's what you need.
[00:04:16] It's a constant surprise of what's available.
[00:04:18] And boy, do we need them.
[00:04:20] Boy, do we need them.
[00:04:21] That's right.
[00:04:21] That's exactly right.
[00:04:22] And that's when Netflix came in with us.
[00:04:25] They said, you know what?
[00:04:26] We're going to launch the first week of November for no reason aside from here it is.
[00:04:32] Let's talk about Meet Me Next Christmas.
[00:04:35] I do feel like, Alonzo, and you can correct me if I'm wrong.
[00:04:38] You, I feel like, have a bit of a more complete database here.
[00:04:43] But this seems like the earliest Netflix Christmas movie that I can remember.
[00:04:48] I feel like they've always been a little bit later.
[00:04:50] But does that seem right to you or no?
[00:04:51] Am I just making that up?
[00:04:52] I mean, you know, I know like from my Facebook memories, like my reviews of things like Klaus have been popping up and Jingle Jangle.
[00:05:01] But it might be that thing where they might have, Netflix might have given them a theatrical run this early for their sort of Oscar qualifier.
[00:05:08] And then it dropped on the service later.
[00:05:10] I don't know.
[00:05:10] I'd have to go back and look.
[00:05:11] Don't actually email me.
[00:05:13] I was going to say don't fact check me, but actually please fact check me.
[00:05:16] I would love to find out.
[00:05:18] Let's talk about it.
[00:05:19] Meet Me Next Christmas.
[00:05:20] And the other name of it is Pentatonix Christmas.
[00:05:23] I believe is the other title of this movie.
[00:05:26] Originally aired on Netflix on November 6, 2024.
[00:05:30] And it went a little something like this.
[00:05:33] The movie kicks off in Chicago.
[00:05:36] That's right, everybody.
[00:05:39] But if you think that the Pentatonix are only popular in New York, you'd be incorrect.
[00:05:44] Layla is at the airport to catch a flight home.
[00:05:48] And the Pentatonix are on the TV there.
[00:05:50] Everybody's loving it.
[00:05:51] She's trying to get to New York City, but her flight is delayed.
[00:05:55] She FaceTimes her boyfriend Tanner and says, don't worry.
[00:05:59] I'm going to be home before our annual Pentatonix Christmas concert.
[00:06:04] He rolls his eyes.
[00:06:05] I wonder if the Pentatonix are going to get enough play in this movie.
[00:06:07] It's hard to say something.
[00:06:09] The word Pentatonix is to be said enough times.
[00:06:11] That's right.
[00:06:12] He rolls his eyes and reminds her and us that they go every year.
[00:06:18] And she says, and it's awesome.
[00:06:21] Tanner, not so sure.
[00:06:23] But she's taken the delay well because she gets lounge access.
[00:06:28] While getting food, she bumps into a good-looking fellow with a ton of layers on.
[00:06:33] And he has a bunch of little teacups.
[00:06:40] Ramekins.
[00:06:40] Yes.
[00:06:40] They come flying out.
[00:06:42] And he's like, oh, sorry about that.
[00:06:44] Christmas gifts.
[00:06:45] Puts them back in his bag.
[00:06:46] And he's out.
[00:06:47] She sits down, prepared to watch It's a Wonderful Life on her phone, and drinks some wine.
[00:06:53] Standard.
[00:06:53] But another hunk sits next to her.
[00:06:56] What a day.
[00:06:57] They immediately start hitting it off.
[00:06:59] His name is James.
[00:07:00] Some might say little Jimmy Stewart.
[00:07:03] But no, it's James.
[00:07:04] It's James.
[00:07:07] James Carey.
[00:07:08] She finds one of those little teacup things in her bag.
[00:07:12] And he's like, just keep it.
[00:07:14] Maybe you can fill it with.
[00:07:15] And they say paperclips at the same time.
[00:07:17] You kidding me right now?
[00:07:18] She introduces him to the Pentatonix.
[00:07:21] The Pentatonix.
[00:07:22] He's never heard of them before.
[00:07:23] And he's like, I got to get out of here ASAP.
[00:07:27] His flight was boarding, apparently.
[00:07:29] That's what he says.
[00:07:30] Okay.
[00:07:31] On his way out, he shoots his shot.
[00:07:33] He says, in one year, if for some reason you're single, let's meet up at the Christmas Eve Pentatonix show.
[00:07:39] She says, I'm flattered, but probably not happening.
[00:07:43] Maybe, though.
[00:07:44] Who can say?
[00:07:44] Cut to one year later, and she did use that little cut for paperclips and whatnot.
[00:07:49] She is still with Tanner.
[00:07:51] She goes home early to set up a romantic night with Tanner, but he's with another girl.
[00:07:57] It is over with Tanner.
[00:08:00] She's moping around with her BFF, and they're talking about Airport James, as they call him.
[00:08:06] Her friend tries to look up Airport James on social media, but it's hard.
[00:08:10] They just have James in Philadelphia to go off of.
[00:08:13] Suddenly, she remembers the plan.
[00:08:15] Apparently, she'd forgotten.
[00:08:16] I don't know.
[00:08:17] But she doesn't have Pentatonix tickets this year because Tanner wanted to go see Macklemore.
[00:08:24] Kidding me right now.
[00:08:25] How dare he want to see Macklemore instead of Pentatonix?
[00:08:28] Who would want that?
[00:08:30] These are the choices?
[00:08:32] The tickets are sold out, and she is bummed.
[00:08:35] But then, while looking on the ticket website, she sees a picture of James buying a ticket to the concert.
[00:08:45] And she's like, it is meant to be.
[00:08:47] He remembers, and he is going to be there.
[00:08:48] So she is now committed to getting the tickets, but no luck.
[00:08:52] So as a last-ditch effort, they decide that they're going to give Impromptu a shot, which is a concierge service that can get you anything that you need, of course, at a cost.
[00:09:03] But who works at Impromptu?
[00:09:06] The teacup guy, the guy at the airport, his name is Teddy.
[00:09:11] Layla is going to be his client.
[00:09:13] He knows her from somewhere, but he can't quite place it.
[00:09:17] He looks up to see if they have a ticket in the database, but no luck.
[00:09:22] He says that he knows a guy who always has tickets for things, but we have to go see him in person.
[00:09:28] She insists on going with him.
[00:09:30] His guy is nowhere to be found, but she thinks that she found a guy that's willing to sell her his ticket.
[00:09:36] So they go to meet him at this bar.
[00:09:38] She pays him more than she was willing to give, plus a necklace.
[00:09:42] Turns out it was a ticket for last year.
[00:09:44] That guy goes running out, and he gets, what is it?
[00:09:51] Maced.
[00:09:52] Maced.
[00:09:52] Maced.
[00:09:53] Yeah.
[00:09:54] Teddy gets maced.
[00:09:55] Yes.
[00:09:56] Yes.
[00:09:56] Teddy gets maced.
[00:09:57] Yes.
[00:09:58] In the process.
[00:09:59] Teddy decides at this point he's going to slide into the Pentatonix DMs.
[00:10:03] So they don't respond right away, but Teddy keeps sending them info, including that he got pepper sprayed.
[00:10:09] He really needs that ticket, and they are now kind of invested in this story.
[00:10:13] While waiting to hear back from them, Teddy gets a lead.
[00:10:16] One of his clients is interested in potentially selling his ticket.
[00:10:20] It turns out clients are an odd bunch, but they are interested in giving them the ticket in exchange for them going to pick up a Chanel purse for them.
[00:10:30] They get to the Chanel store, and they have to wait in a very long line.
[00:10:35] Teddy flirts with a Chanel worker, and it's looking good.
[00:10:38] There's only one left.
[00:10:39] But then Layla gets Christmas shoot, is what I wrote down, and decides that they deserve the bag instead.
[00:10:52] Teddy keeps messaging Pentatonix, and Pentatonix is now cheering for Teddy and Layla to end up together.
[00:10:57] Forget that other guy.
[00:10:58] And after Teddy cooks for an amazing meal with his biceps just there, Layla might be rooting for that as well.
[00:11:06] Suddenly, Teddy gets good news.
[00:11:08] His cousin has two Pentatonix tickets.
[00:11:11] So they go, and they find out that it's a little bit more complicated than actually having them on his person.
[00:11:20] They're like, it's an idea of tickets.
[00:11:23] In order to get those two tickets, they have to team up to win a Christmas lip sync competition.
[00:11:29] They work on their routine.
[00:11:31] Then they have a little pit stop in the kitchen, because you have to.
[00:11:35] And it's at this point that she sees that he has the same little cups, and it all comes together.
[00:11:42] Sriracha on the quiche.
[00:11:43] That's exactly right.
[00:11:44] Quick, quick.
[00:11:45] Yes, yes.
[00:11:46] There's a baking montage, and the sparks are beginning to fly hard.
[00:11:51] She ends up falling asleep on the couch.
[00:11:54] The next day, they go to the performance and crush it.
[00:11:59] But it ends with a kiss.
[00:12:02] A real, real big old kiss.
[00:12:06] They get second place.
[00:12:09] The Pentatonix have been keeping up with this on social media, and even though they think that Teddy and Layla should be together,
[00:12:15] they also think that Layla has the right to make a well-rounded choice.
[00:12:18] So Layla is going to get a ticket.
[00:12:20] But Teddy has to come, too, and play Santa Claus.
[00:12:25] So you go and you meet your guy, Teddy.
[00:12:27] You'll be there just in case.
[00:12:29] It turns out the Pentatonix just want to know if Teddy has a crush on Layla.
[00:12:33] They don't actually want to use him for Santa Claus, but whatever.
[00:12:35] It turns out that Layla has completely fallen for Teddy.
[00:12:39] She decides that she is going to go to the show to get Teddy, not James.
[00:12:43] So she heads into the snow as the classic Christmas song Hallelujah plays.
[00:12:55] It's my feels.
[00:12:58] It's my feels.
[00:12:59] James gets to the venue and stands outside, flowers in hand, waiting on Layla.
[00:13:06] He starts walking away as she runs in.
[00:13:09] She goes and she gets her tickets at the box office but decides that she needs to go backstage to see Teddy.
[00:13:14] So she goes to run around the building, bumps into James, and she says,
[00:13:19] Oh, hey, James, I'm not here for you.
[00:13:20] I am here for Teddy.
[00:13:22] Sorry about that.
[00:13:23] Turns out that he was there to meet another woman anyway.
[00:13:27] He has fallen in love in the past year and decided to take that woman to the Pentatonix show.
[00:13:33] Teddy very nervously comes down the chimney on stage as Santa and makes a big love declaration,
[00:13:40] hoping that Layla is listening.
[00:13:42] She's not, though, because she's still trying to get in through the back door.
[00:13:45] Finally, she runs back up to the front, barges in through the doors, and yells that she feels the same way.
[00:13:53] They share a big kiss as Pentatonix sings around them.
[00:13:58] And that, my friends, was Meet Me Next Christmas.
[00:14:03] We did it.
[00:14:04] And I can confirm now, Bram, when we watch these movies separately, you don't leave a single detail out.
[00:14:08] Okay, there you go.
[00:14:12] I was wondering if it was just me or if the summary was like seven minutes long.
[00:14:17] Was it too long?
[00:14:17] I thought you did a great job.
[00:14:18] Well, there's a lot happening in this movie.
[00:14:20] No, you were very thorough.
[00:14:20] I think for a Hallmark movie, you would have just decided two or three of these things I can just skim over with the center.
[00:14:26] That's fair.
[00:14:27] But with this one, you did all of them.
[00:14:29] I'm locked in.
[00:14:29] I'm locked in.
[00:14:30] You did great.
[00:14:31] Let's take a quick break.
[00:14:32] We'll come back and we'll bring this movie down with four segments here on Deck the Hallmark.
[00:14:35] Hey, buddy.
[00:14:46] We're talking about Meet Me Next Christmas, the first Netflix Christmas movie of the year.
[00:14:51] We're going to break it down with four segments.
[00:14:53] We're going to share exactly how we felt with our hot takes.
[00:14:57] That's what we're going to do first.
[00:14:58] And I'll start with you, Jax.
[00:14:59] Jax, what do you think about Meet Me Next Christmas?
[00:15:03] Okay, I have a piping hot take and I'm just going to get ahead of everything now that we discussed in the preview.
[00:15:09] Y'all, there's a little thing called suspension of disbelief and you asked me to do it for your Marvel movies, for your superhero crap.
[00:15:17] And you know what?
[00:15:19] Yes, we know that the Pentatonix aren't popular like this.
[00:15:24] Yes, they have 3.2 million Instagram followers.
[00:15:27] They are playing Madison Square Garden on November 26th.
[00:15:31] Oh, like Alicia Witt.
[00:15:33] Yes, yes.
[00:15:35] That was a really good callback, by the way.
[00:15:37] I thought the same thing.
[00:15:39] I was able to get two $30 tickets pretty easily, so yes.
[00:15:43] But look, we're suspending our disbelief here.
[00:15:45] Oh, wait, you bought tickets for the Pentatonix show during the movie?
[00:15:48] I was...
[00:15:49] 100%.
[00:15:50] I was going to do this same bit.
[00:15:52] Literally, Madison Square Garden, the Hallelujah Christmas Tour, one night only.
[00:15:57] Their tour's called Hallelujah?
[00:15:59] The Hallelujah Christmas Tour.
[00:16:00] But you can't be right now!
[00:16:01] One night only in Madison Square Garden.
[00:16:04] Floor seats are $130.
[00:16:08] Floor seats.
[00:16:09] For sure.
[00:16:09] I didn't spring for the floor seats.
[00:16:12] Yes.
[00:16:12] But I was watching this movie with Alex and it was so...
[00:16:15] He kept...
[00:16:16] I think we needed this to be good because of a variety of reasons.
[00:16:19] And he was like, I love this movie.
[00:16:22] And then like five minutes later, he's like, okay, I know it's early days.
[00:16:26] We're 15 minutes in, but I think this is one of my new favorites.
[00:16:29] And then he was like, can we actually go see them?
[00:16:31] I bought the tickets 33 minutes in.
[00:16:34] I don't regret it.
[00:16:35] I love, love, love this movie.
[00:16:37] I think it was hilarious.
[00:16:38] I thought the chemistry between our two leads was awesome.
[00:16:42] I thought Jordi was hilarious.
[00:16:44] I love the BFF.
[00:16:45] BFF will get into all my feels during the feels, but this was a 10 out of 10 for me.
[00:16:52] It was everything I need in the moment I needed it.
[00:16:55] And I won't be entertaining other opinions.
[00:16:57] Wow.
[00:16:58] Shout out to Pentatonix though for like...
[00:17:00] I respect you.
[00:17:01] A really affordable arena tour though.
[00:17:04] I mean, StubHub prices it not based upon...
[00:17:08] It prices it based upon demand.
[00:17:10] Okay?
[00:17:11] I'm looking at Ticketmaster for the Columbia show, which are still tickets available.
[00:17:15] And that's how much they cost.
[00:17:16] That's not bad for an arena show.
[00:17:18] If there are floor seats available for $130 at Madison Square Garden.
[00:17:21] It's for them.
[00:17:22] Not the hottest ticket in town.
[00:17:23] But your point is well taken, Jax.
[00:17:25] I'll get to my hot ticket in a little bit, but your point is well taken.
[00:17:28] But I think like...
[00:17:29] Just let me see what the...
[00:17:30] Yeah.
[00:17:31] In Columbia, the floor, it's under...
[00:17:34] You can get them for under $100 at face value.
[00:17:37] Not a hot ticket.
[00:17:38] No, it's there.
[00:17:39] They set the face value.
[00:17:41] I'm just saying.
[00:17:42] Good on them.
[00:17:43] That's nice.
[00:17:43] That's what I ever want to go to.
[00:17:45] It's like, which kidney do you want?
[00:17:46] That's right.
[00:17:46] It's very nice to see that happen is all I'm saying.
[00:17:50] Alonzo, what did you think about this one?
[00:17:52] So, for the first part of it, I was like, okay, this is an above average, you know, the
[00:17:59] kind of movie that we're watching at this time of year, your Hallmark, your Netflix, whatever.
[00:18:02] Like, you know, it looked better than a lot of them.
[00:18:06] Like, they clearly put some money into that airport set, which, you know, I was just immediately
[00:18:10] impressed by.
[00:18:11] It's directed by Rusty Kondiev, who, you know, he's done some Hallmark stuff.
[00:18:16] But before that, he was like, he made Fear of a Black Hat and Tales from the Hood.
[00:18:21] Like, this is a guy who comes from indie cinema, the 90s.
[00:18:24] So, you know, it was already kind of working at an above average level.
[00:18:28] And then we meet Cousin Jordy, and this movie rockets.
[00:18:32] Dave White was like, we were on the edge of our seat.
[00:18:36] Like, where has Jordy been all of our lives?
[00:18:38] I'll get more into him in the feels.
[00:18:40] But, like, just took this film to the stratosphere.
[00:18:44] I agree 100.
[00:18:45] I love this movie.
[00:18:46] And I was surprised by how much I love this movie because of the rant that I went on last
[00:18:50] year or last week.
[00:18:52] I love this movie.
[00:18:53] Feels like a year ago, though.
[00:18:53] We'll be honest.
[00:18:54] It's been a lot.
[00:18:55] I think we've watched 10 movies since then.
[00:18:58] And I loved it despite the fact that they play Hallelujah in a very powerful moment of
[00:19:03] this movie.
[00:19:06] It's funny.
[00:19:07] I felt it was an hour and 45 minutes.
[00:19:10] We turned it on.
[00:19:11] Dan and I both had the same thought.
[00:19:12] Uh-oh.
[00:19:13] This is longer.
[00:19:14] Who do you think you are?
[00:19:15] I am.
[00:19:15] This is 25 minutes too long.
[00:19:17] It felt good.
[00:19:19] My wife was watching it with me, and she was, like, kind of interested at the beginning.
[00:19:24] But then, like, by the halfway point, her phone was down, and she was locked in.
[00:19:30] And it was significantly more fun than I anticipated.
[00:19:35] And I think part of that is because everybody was aware of how ridiculous the overall premise
[00:19:41] is.
[00:19:42] And instead of being like, we're going to take it really seriously, they said, let's make
[00:19:45] it as fun as possible.
[00:19:47] And then you're right.
[00:19:48] Geordi came in.
[00:19:49] And I don't know why every movie doesn't have a Geordi that's just going to go in and
[00:19:53] give you, I don't know, 2,000%.
[00:19:55] Like, Geordi was going so hard, and it was so much fun.
[00:20:00] This movie, a surprise of the year so far for me.
[00:20:03] I went in being like, okay, this is going to be a long advertisement for Pentatonix,
[00:20:08] which it is.
[00:20:08] Which it is.
[00:20:09] Yes.
[00:20:09] But.
[00:20:10] Sure.
[00:20:10] It clearly worked on Jacks.
[00:20:12] Yeah.
[00:20:13] Selling tickets.
[00:20:14] And, you know, we've seen, we've reviewed a couple of Christina Milian Christmas movies
[00:20:18] on this show, and she's just so good at this.
[00:20:23] And so it was great to see her in one of these again.
[00:20:26] Really, really liked this movie.
[00:20:28] Dano?
[00:20:28] Yeah, tough to tell a Pentatonix-based Christmas love story in under 90 minutes, you know?
[00:20:32] Like, there's just so much you need to do.
[00:20:34] You need that real estate.
[00:20:36] Yeah.
[00:20:36] Listen, this movie in the first 30 minutes, I had a literal page of wait once.
[00:20:41] I was like, this is so stupid, so ridiculous.
[00:20:45] I looked up that Pentatonix floor seats in Madison Square Garden were $130.
[00:20:50] I mean, Macklemore seats are triple that.
[00:20:52] Like, who do you think you are?
[00:20:55] I was like, but then the first thing that happened that surprised me was Pentatonix was in it
[00:21:01] and super self-deprecating and making fun of themselves, making fun of how out of touch
[00:21:07] a musical star would be.
[00:21:08] And I was like, oh, they just harmonize random words.
[00:21:12] Like, I was like, oh, that's a funny bit.
[00:21:14] And then before you even get to Geordi, you start to realize that you just need to not.
[00:21:21] You need, like, I have wait once, and they'll be fun.
[00:21:24] But the movie is daring you to look at it under a critical eye.
[00:21:29] It's like, I dare you to not have fun and poke holes in this because you could, but you would
[00:21:37] be missing a movie that wears you down, wins you over, and leaves you with a smile on your
[00:21:42] face.
[00:21:43] By the end of this movie, by the time Geordi gets on screen, you're like, gosh dang it.
[00:21:49] There's two days to get tickets to a show that literally anyone with $100 in their pocket can
[00:21:55] get with fees.
[00:21:56] But boy howdy if this isn't a fun time.
[00:22:00] Lisa in the chat does point out a good fact that they are playing a theater in this one,
[00:22:04] not the arena.
[00:22:05] But the idea that the Pentatonix are following along and that it's the hottest ticket in
[00:22:09] town and that it's two days.
[00:22:11] There's so many other things that we'll get to in the way.
[00:22:13] What?
[00:22:13] But that doesn't matter.
[00:22:15] What matters is, is that first of all, Christina Milian can do no wrong.
[00:22:19] I think she was making these movies before most of the Hallmark stars and somehow in
[00:22:23] the election of Hallmark Queen, CC Boo is who we got.
[00:22:26] CC Boo.
[00:22:27] CC Boo is who we got.
[00:22:28] Christina Milian is who we needed.
[00:22:30] And that's sad.
[00:22:31] That's sad for all of us.
[00:22:32] But she's here.
[00:22:33] She's making bangers.
[00:22:34] She's unbelievable.
[00:22:36] I love her.
[00:22:37] She's wonderful in all of these movies, even when the movies are bad.
[00:22:40] She's great.
[00:22:41] This is no exception.
[00:22:42] The movie's ridiculous.
[00:22:43] It's preposterous.
[00:22:44] And it's a great time and doesn't feel like it's 105 minutes.
[00:22:47] And regardless of how you feel after the first 30, keep watching it.
[00:22:52] And I think it will win you over because after 30 minutes, I was, aside from one chocolate
[00:22:57] Pentatonix, I was over it.
[00:22:59] And by the time the credits rolled, I was into it.
[00:23:02] So it does work.
[00:23:03] Did your wife watch it with you?
[00:23:04] She started watching.
[00:23:05] I watched, we watched half of it last night.
[00:23:07] And then I was like, I'm going to go to bed and watch the rest.
[00:23:09] And then I watched the rest of it and I just loved it.
[00:23:12] And so it was a lot of fun.
[00:23:14] And I think the character of Jordy does, we'll get to that.
[00:23:16] I'm sure I'll let everybody else talk about it because my feels, I'm going to say for
[00:23:19] hallelujah.
[00:23:20] But we'll get like, it's, it's good time.
[00:23:22] It's a good time.
[00:23:22] It's way better than I ever thought possible.
[00:23:24] When you hear the premise and you're like, I roll, that's ridiculous.
[00:23:29] Just think to yourself.
[00:23:30] Yes.
[00:23:31] Yes, it is.
[00:23:32] And they embrace it and use it for all it's worth.
[00:23:35] So good for them.
[00:23:38] I mean, it's Netflix.
[00:23:40] Your chances were higher.
[00:23:43] Okay.
[00:23:44] All right.
[00:23:51] We'll work on it.
[00:23:52] We'll work on the rendition, but I think we got something there.
[00:23:55] Let's get to all the feels.
[00:23:58] It's where we talk about what in the movie gave us feels.
[00:24:01] Jax.
[00:24:03] I'm feeling all the feels because I'm, I'm really pleasantly surprised with all of your hot takes.
[00:24:08] And I just, I love you guys.
[00:24:10] You're ready to fight.
[00:24:10] I'm sorry.
[00:24:11] You want me to tell you the movie sucked?
[00:24:12] I can do that.
[00:24:14] Yeah.
[00:24:14] It's like, I'm, I'm annoyed and mad now that I don't have that opportunity.
[00:24:17] You know, I'm thrilled that everyone enjoyed this as much as I did.
[00:24:22] Okay.
[00:24:23] So I just want to say like, look, like we've been saying, Christina Milian absolutely kills this.
[00:24:31] I think very often when we have a black woman playing the lead, they give us the white best friend.
[00:24:38] And as much as I would love to play the white best friend, we really miss an opportunity.
[00:24:42] That's Jacqueline Collier at gmail.
[00:24:43] I don't know what your name is.
[00:24:44] At whitebestfriend.com.
[00:24:46] That is.
[00:24:46] That actually is my email.
[00:24:48] And if anyone does want to hire me for their white best friend, I'm available.
[00:24:52] But because we do that very often in these movies, there is this terrible missed opportunity
[00:24:58] to see black women being in sisterhood together.
[00:25:01] And my goodness gracious, does Tamika Tafari kill it as Roxy?
[00:25:06] The two of them together.
[00:25:08] I mean, they just made me laugh so hard.
[00:25:10] They have like this very interesting banter back and forth.
[00:25:16] Like even when they're chatting in the beginning and Christina says something to her and Roxy's like, was it though?
[00:25:24] And then she's like, was it though?
[00:25:26] Like she nails this line.
[00:25:28] And I'm not doing an impression of her.
[00:25:31] Of course not.
[00:25:33] Like she did it to perfection.
[00:25:33] Yes.
[00:25:34] I'm just saying verbatim what she said.
[00:25:35] That's right.
[00:25:36] I just was absolutely over the moon with her.
[00:25:40] And then I'm of course going to leave the Geordie of it all to Alonzo.
[00:25:45] But Kaylin Allen, chef's kiss.
[00:25:47] Again, wish I would have known you before.
[00:25:49] I'm going to end with my final feel.
[00:25:54] Although I could go on and on and on.
[00:25:57] Teddy reminds me of Ryan Popola.
[00:26:02] Like Ryan Popola is like a white, I don't know if Ryan's white, but a white version of Teddy.
[00:26:09] And I don't want to say, Teddy was also like very hot as soon as I don't want to make it seem.
[00:26:12] This is Vin Jackson's spiciest all the feels.
[00:26:15] Because it could get her canceled.
[00:26:18] Between not knowing Ryan's ethnicity and talking black, Jax is not going to, she's never going to live.
[00:26:24] It's just.
[00:26:25] No, you know what I realized?
[00:26:27] I was saying, was it though, was it though?
[00:26:29] Trying to get the cadence of how she like said this.
[00:26:32] Sure.
[00:26:33] The second one pitched it down.
[00:26:33] It's a great delivery.
[00:26:34] Sure.
[00:26:35] I was like, I'm digging myself a hole here.
[00:26:38] And then I didn't want, perfect delivery.
[00:26:40] I didn't need to say it.
[00:26:43] And then Ryan Popola, I was trying to also say that he reminds me of him.
[00:26:46] Without saying that Ryan was hot because I thought, but then also besides getting me canceled for that, I was like, I don't want to say that Ryan's hot because that feels weird.
[00:26:56] Anyway, Teddy was hot in that red suit and he also has a heart of gold.
[00:26:59] And this, this movie just made me, it made me really, really happy when I really, really needed it.
[00:27:06] So thank you Netflix for having more heart.
[00:27:10] You know, Hallmark always thinks they have monopoly on heart and they don't.
[00:27:15] Wow.
[00:27:15] Netflix baby.
[00:27:16] That's right.
[00:27:17] Love that.
[00:27:17] Said like someone who got fired from Hallmark.
[00:27:20] Oh.
[00:27:23] Seemed unnecessary.
[00:27:25] Not fully fired, but like the opportunity to be, it's not just fired.
[00:27:30] It's the opportunities that I've pitched them things and try to be rehired has really been the sting, you know, upon it.
[00:27:37] So, yeah.
[00:27:38] Just show them that all the feels segment.
[00:27:41] I'm sure they'll be right back.
[00:27:44] Alonzo?
[00:27:46] Well, yeah.
[00:27:46] On that note, I always appreciate when we get a moment in Netflix movie that you just would not get in a Hallmark movie.
[00:27:52] And for me, the first one of those was when Christina Milian wears that amazing cleavage dress.
[00:27:57] It's got like the cutout oval, like, you know, there's like a bit of a neckline and then there's space.
[00:28:02] And I was like, okay, yeah.
[00:28:04] All right.
[00:28:05] Let's do this.
[00:28:09] To piggyback on what Dan was saying, I kind of love the fact that Pentatonix is leaning into goofing on themselves so hard in these.
[00:28:17] You may recall last year they were in Candy Cane Lane and the running joke was like, oh, God, make them stop singing.
[00:28:24] And they weren't Pentatonix as Pentatonix, but they were playing like carolers who'd been shrunk down by the evil Christmas whatever.
[00:28:31] And the joke was like, oh, for God's sake, we beg you, stop singing.
[00:28:35] You're driving us up the wall.
[00:28:36] And in this movie, yeah, they kind of portray themselves as being sort of vain and shallow and not bright and having the character of the manager who's like, really, knock it off with the harmonizing.
[00:28:48] Like, I don't care for them, but I appreciate that they're in on the joke here.
[00:28:54] Really started to win me over.
[00:28:55] This movie really won me over to them as a group.
[00:28:58] Yeah.
[00:28:58] I have a great deal more respect for them as a cultural entity, even if I don't really want to hear their music.
[00:29:04] So, you know, kudos there.
[00:29:06] Yeah.
[00:29:07] Let's unpack Jordy.
[00:29:08] He, you know, is immediately on them with like, okay, you can have these tickets.
[00:29:13] You got to win this contest.
[00:29:14] And if you got to win this contest, you have to follow my choreography to the letter.
[00:29:18] And my choreography is insane.
[00:29:20] And why haven't you learned it yet?
[00:29:23] Did you learn it for this or you don't let them do it?
[00:29:29] Oh, did I?
[00:29:29] Did you learn the choreography?
[00:29:31] I would need to watch it a couple more times, I think.
[00:29:34] There was a lot of hands spinning.
[00:29:35] I know this.
[00:29:36] I know this stuff.
[00:29:37] I'll get back to you once I've got that down.
[00:29:39] But no less than an expert than Dave White pointed out, you need a gay to show up at Christmas and get everyone in order.
[00:29:47] And that's what this movie does.
[00:29:49] And that's what Jordy does.
[00:29:50] And we're all the better for it.
[00:29:52] But this actor's appearance, you know, Caelan Allen, this is like a movie that I write about in my book, Hollywood Pride, now available as a great Christmas gift.
[00:30:03] Well done.
[00:30:03] And there's an old George Cukor movie called Our Betters.
[00:30:06] And it's a pretty run-of-the-mill kind of drawing room comedy.
[00:30:10] And then in the last five minutes, this actor named Terrell Davis comes in and, like, just mows down the whole movie with, like, fabulous, fabulous energy.
[00:30:20] And that's what Caelan Allen is doing here.
[00:30:22] And he takes this movie to a whole other level single-handedly.
[00:30:26] So, you know, like, he is the MVP here.
[00:30:29] And then I just wrote down sexy flan and sexy outfits.
[00:30:32] Because her red dress and his red suit at the end, chef's kiss.
[00:30:38] Yeah, listen, I'm man enough to admit what I'm wrong about.
[00:30:42] Well, first of all, I'm not wrong.
[00:30:43] Yeah, go ahead and say the whole sentence.
[00:30:44] I'm not wrong about them being demons for the unforgivable sin that is Hallelujah.
[00:30:51] Having said that.
[00:30:52] Having said that.
[00:30:52] They were great in this movie.
[00:30:54] And I knew I was in trouble right away when the first scene made me laugh.
[00:30:58] And it wasn't like one of those laughs.
[00:31:01] It was a that was funnier than it had any right to be.
[00:31:06] And it kept going.
[00:31:07] I think maybe there's some people that may have felt like that.
[00:31:11] And the bits of them throughout the movie got stale.
[00:31:16] It never got stale to me.
[00:31:17] It made they made me laugh.
[00:31:19] It was perfect.
[00:31:19] Continually through this movie.
[00:31:20] And so, Pentatonix, I hate you, but I love you.
[00:31:24] And I actually found the concert to be pretty compelling.
[00:31:27] I would consider a Pentatonix concert.
[00:31:30] Should we go just for the job here?
[00:31:32] Yeah, it's just for the one shot of camera as they're playing Hallelujah,
[00:31:37] paying over to me, and I'm just mad.
[00:31:39] Or I'm crying now.
[00:31:41] I'm booing.
[00:31:43] Boo!
[00:31:44] We spent the $30 on the floor tickets.
[00:31:47] Go ahead.
[00:31:47] Yeah.
[00:31:48] My feels is, and this is legitimate, I'm not trying to get brand mad,
[00:31:52] but Hallelujah, welcome on in to the Christmas Carol Club.
[00:31:55] Welcome on in.
[00:31:56] Because the use of Hallelujah here was not only perfect with her in the cab
[00:32:02] and him there and this thing that's like, how are these two people going to get together?
[00:32:06] But the way it's used, it felt Christmassy.
[00:32:10] It was wonderful.
[00:32:11] I was taken completely aback by it, and I loved it not to get brand mad.
[00:32:17] I promise this isn't a bit.
[00:32:18] It's a good version of the song.
[00:32:20] And it now is a Christmas song.
[00:32:22] It's not a Christmas song.
[00:32:22] Welcome aboard.
[00:32:23] Hallelujah.
[00:32:24] You know you're wrong there.
[00:32:26] It is.
[00:32:27] Welcome to the car.
[00:32:27] It can be a good song.
[00:32:31] All of you guys can go, I can put up my tree when I want because it makes me feel good.
[00:32:35] Great.
[00:32:35] Well, I tell you.
[00:32:43] This is what it's like.
[00:32:44] I need to grab my phone.
[00:32:45] I need to grab my computer charger.
[00:32:46] I'll be back in two seconds.
[00:32:47] This is what it's like when people who say, just let me have this.
[00:32:50] I'm grabbing my computer charger.
[00:32:52] Yeah.
[00:32:52] I got you.
[00:32:53] Two peppermint mochas.
[00:32:54] This is what it's like.
[00:32:56] This is what it's like right here.
[00:32:59] When everybody does this thing, when I'm critical, because I love being critical and
[00:33:04] everybody knows this thing where they're like, can you just let me enjoy this?
[00:33:07] But then I try to say, hey, for me, this is Christmas.
[00:33:11] And everybody's like, no, it's not.
[00:33:12] It's blah, blah, blah.
[00:33:13] Get into Britain.
[00:33:14] Yeah.
[00:33:14] Now you can be critical all of a sudden.
[00:33:16] I see what it is.
[00:33:17] Well, there's being critical.
[00:33:18] You guys are the joy police.
[00:33:19] You're the joy police.
[00:33:21] And you've decided.
[00:33:21] There's being flat out wrong.
[00:33:22] That's exactly right.
[00:33:24] You're being flat out wrong.
[00:33:24] You can and can't be joyful, apparently.
[00:33:26] Thanks, guys, for ruining this day for me.
[00:33:28] We're saying what can and cannot be Christmas.
[00:33:30] There's a difference.
[00:33:31] That's right.
[00:33:32] President Christmas over there.
[00:33:33] It is a nice version of that song.
[00:33:35] Super Christmassy.
[00:33:36] And it was a nice utilization.
[00:33:39] It's not a Christmas song.
[00:33:40] Let's get to the wait one.
[00:33:41] So are we talking about what this movie is?
[00:33:42] Let's go wait one.
[00:33:43] I'll start with you, Jax.
[00:33:47] Yeah, I'm not really going to be entertaining this, you guys.
[00:33:50] I think the two little tiny things I have that are less wait one.
[00:33:52] This movie's airtight and perfect aside from these two things.
[00:33:59] I just needed this to work for me, and it really did.
[00:34:02] I love when Christina says, you put sriracha on my quiche.
[00:34:08] I was like, okay.
[00:34:11] I mean, that's literally what happened.
[00:34:13] But was it also a double meaning?
[00:34:15] No.
[00:34:16] I'll let you with that.
[00:34:16] Couldn't have been.
[00:34:18] Couldn't have been.
[00:34:20] And then also, look, these cult leaders slash swingers slash maybe both, again,
[00:34:26] they would be scaring you to be like, come at me with things.
[00:34:31] It was absolutely out of pocket and wild, and they were so weird and creepy.
[00:34:35] But I was here for all of it.
[00:34:37] They're even less likely to be Pentatonix fans than Christina Milian, I want to say.
[00:34:41] You know, that's just what I think.
[00:34:43] I don't know.
[00:34:43] The biggest wait one of the movie is, is are these people really Pentatonix fans?
[00:34:47] Yeah.
[00:34:47] That's the biggest one.
[00:34:49] They can't be.
[00:34:50] Alonzo, what do you got?
[00:34:52] Well, the first one that I wrote down, the movie actually acknowledges, which is, you
[00:34:55] know, they act like, oh, no, we went to the official website, and it's sold out.
[00:34:59] I'm like, well, try the scalping site.
[00:35:01] But then they later acknowledge that they did.
[00:35:05] Um, the, when, when they're at the, the, the, the, the Euro trash, uh, billionaires at
[00:35:12] place and, uh, and Teddy asks how far up they are.
[00:35:17] And the guy tells them, oh, we're on the 86th floor.
[00:35:19] I'm like, Teddy, you rode the elevator.
[00:35:22] You know what floor you're on.
[00:35:24] You don't need to be told this by, you know, Stefan over there, whatever that guy is.
[00:35:30] The button said, ask how high you are.
[00:35:32] Yes.
[00:35:33] Exactly.
[00:35:34] If you have to ask, you can't afford it.
[00:35:36] That's right.
[00:35:36] It's floor 80 something.
[00:35:39] Then, then Mrs.
[00:35:41] Uh, Euro trash, uh, uh, gives the dress to Christina Milian and Mrs.
[00:35:46] Euro trash is a full head taller than she is.
[00:35:50] Yep.
[00:35:50] So I'm thinking these two women do not wear the same size.
[00:35:53] You know, this is a rack of clothes that an actual, like the, the, the name that she
[00:35:58] drops who, who dresses Beyonce and sorry, that's an actual person.
[00:36:02] And he really does.
[00:36:03] Oh, okay.
[00:36:03] But like that outfit would not fit both of those women in any universe.
[00:36:07] Um, the Christmas Chanel, uh, the, the, the, the, the, the, the guy playing the Christmas
[00:36:14] shoes.
[00:36:14] That is a con.
[00:36:15] He is calming her.
[00:36:17] He found this kid and they're giving her a sob story.
[00:36:20] I think the kid in the Christmas shoes is also running an elaborate con.
[00:36:24] But that's a whole other story.
[00:36:26] But in this one, absolutely.
[00:36:27] And she falls for it.
[00:36:29] And I'm like, Oh lady be smarter than this.
[00:36:30] But you know, she, she does.
[00:36:32] And you know, we still have a movie.
[00:36:33] So there you go.
[00:36:34] And then the, the, when they keep cutting back to pentatonix to sort of comment on the
[00:36:40] story, I'm not blaming them for this, but it gets a little ridiculous.
[00:36:44] Although technically I guess they are this movie's Greek chorus, but they're an acapella
[00:36:48] chorus.
[00:36:49] So, you know, it's tough.
[00:36:51] Cause those bits are funny, but also the movie could have been a more reasonable links
[00:36:54] without all of those bits.
[00:36:57] I, I, so it's tough.
[00:36:58] That's a tough one.
[00:36:59] But you know, they, they're there.
[00:37:00] We have to use them, I guess.
[00:37:01] And then finally we are told this entire movie sold out show, sold out show, sold out show.
[00:37:07] When they finally arrive at the theater, the sidewalks are empty.
[00:37:12] Like I get it.
[00:37:13] Everybody's inside sitting down, but like there would be other people milling around.
[00:37:17] It would be New York at Christmas time in general, but just alleyways, sidewalks, lobby,
[00:37:23] nobody.
[00:37:23] Yeah.
[00:37:24] Well, what one of mine to that point was if you're gonna do fake New York city with the
[00:37:28] fake subway stations, maybe don't do the subway station for 34th street.
[00:37:33] Um, and then have whatever that alleyway was.
[00:37:36] Cause it just wasn't, wasn't that, it wasn't that, but good on them.
[00:37:40] What's, what's a popular street at Christmas.
[00:37:42] We'll do that.
[00:37:43] And then have it like nothing like, um, you know, New York city famously empty.
[00:37:50] This movie starts around the holidays.
[00:37:51] Yeah.
[00:37:52] This movie starts with her going up the escalator and her, her putting her hand behind her back,
[00:37:59] fixing her ticket so that it's facing out her paper ticket, by the way, so that it's
[00:38:04] facing out so that everyone behind her can see exactly where she's going, including us
[00:38:10] at home.
[00:38:10] Yeah.
[00:38:11] And it was such a weird, like here it is.
[00:38:13] So any of the weirdos that are also on the escalator that are like, I wonder where she's going.
[00:38:19] They sure know us at home.
[00:38:21] We also know.
[00:38:22] Um, it was, it was like, uh, watching wheel of fortune where, uh, she does, she does the
[00:38:27] thing when it makes the letter come up.
[00:38:29] It was like, here's my ticket.
[00:38:32] Uh, that made me, that made me laugh.
[00:38:34] Um, why, what, why was she, she's, they didn't do her any favors with the lip syncing.
[00:38:41] Um, no, the actual presentation, they did great, great dancing.
[00:38:46] I, I have to imagine that this fell on editing because Teddy was, was synced up and she was
[00:38:54] just not, and it was distracting, especially.
[00:38:58] And I know the whole thing is like, Hey, we're going to do this really, really nice dance.
[00:39:03] And you're going to, that's what you're going to be focusing on.
[00:39:04] But I couldn't focus on anything other than how bad they made her look at lip syncing.
[00:39:09] And that maybe why did they got second place?
[00:39:11] I would have, I would have loved for the guy to be up there and be like second place because
[00:39:16] she's really bad at lip syncing.
[00:39:18] Uh, because choreography first.
[00:39:21] It was wild.
[00:39:22] It was wildly off.
[00:39:24] It was wild.
[00:39:25] I, I, I couldn't believe it.
[00:39:27] Um, and then last, last but not least for real though, just go through the front door.
[00:39:32] I don't know why she was so insistent on going through the back door.
[00:39:37] Just go.
[00:39:38] You have the ticket.
[00:39:40] Just go.
[00:39:40] It was ridiculous.
[00:39:41] Dano.
[00:39:42] I've narrowed it down to eight.
[00:39:43] Uh, she admits we're up against.
[00:39:45] I know she admits early in this movie that she steals toilet paper from her nonprofit's
[00:39:50] office all the time.
[00:39:52] Come on.
[00:39:53] Come on.
[00:39:55] Come on.
[00:39:55] You're a good person.
[00:39:57] Don't do that.
[00:39:57] It's a 501c3.
[00:39:58] You can't.
[00:40:00] Come on.
[00:40:01] Come on.
[00:40:02] You can't do that.
[00:40:04] Come on.
[00:40:04] Uh, the line to the Chanel store is forever.
[00:40:08] And by forever, I mean six to eight people.
[00:40:11] Uh, they don't have the background actors necessary to pull this off.
[00:40:16] When they get inside, they try to make the line longer by redressing the background actors
[00:40:20] in different wardrobes.
[00:40:22] It's the same eight people.
[00:40:24] There's six people in front of them.
[00:40:26] Barely a line.
[00:40:27] Not a big deal at all.
[00:40:29] Um, this guy who Jax is already kind of a roundabout, including Ryan's ethnicity has
[00:40:36] said is really hot.
[00:40:37] But this guy is like, I could never pull the girl that works at Chanel.
[00:40:44] He's like, man, the girl, the girl that works an hourly wage job at Chanel is out of my
[00:40:50] league.
[00:40:51] Why?
[00:40:52] Why is, why is she out of your league?
[00:40:54] It's not like she owns Chanel.
[00:40:56] She just works at Chanel.
[00:40:59] Um, I can buy Christina million doing a lot.
[00:41:02] I can't buy her not knowing basic dance moves like twirling, like when, when he's teaching
[00:41:09] her how to like, just basically spin back into him and she misses it.
[00:41:14] Hard to buy that from Christina million with 45 minutes left in this movie.
[00:41:20] These two leads cook together in one of the sexiest cooking scenes, maybe that we've had
[00:41:26] on this program.
[00:41:27] Um, it's crazy, the tension in this room.
[00:41:32] And I would submit to you, they're not going to Pentatonix, uh, from the time that scene
[00:41:38] happens, they're going to Pentatonix right then and there, you cannot, there will be
[00:41:43] Sriracha and quiche, but there will not be Pentatonix.
[00:41:47] You cannot possibly tell me they give a damn about Pentatonix.
[00:41:52] Are you kidding me?
[00:41:53] Go watch that scene.
[00:41:55] Go watch that scene and be like, she's got to go meet the guy of her dreams at Pentatonix.
[00:42:00] No, you gotta rush and go here.
[00:42:02] Hallelujah.
[00:42:03] Live on Christmas Eve.
[00:42:06] There's no way.
[00:42:08] No, how can't happen.
[00:42:10] I can't believe we've gotten to me in the wait.
[00:42:13] What program to mention that the prize for the lip sync battle concert is tickets for later
[00:42:19] that night.
[00:42:20] Yeah.
[00:42:21] It's like the grand prize we're all fighting for is hope you don't have plans after this
[00:42:27] because, well, you plan around it.
[00:42:30] If the shows generally happen really early in the evening.
[00:42:34] So that leaves you plenty of time.
[00:42:35] Well, that was my next thing is like the prize for this very important drag show that happens
[00:42:39] around 4 p.m.
[00:42:41] on Christmas Eve is tickets to Pentatonix.
[00:42:47] That's the most unbelievable part of this whole movie, to be quite honest with you.
[00:42:53] And then also can't believe we're just now talking about this.
[00:42:56] My man, James, Airport James, brought another date to the Pentatonix show a year later.
[00:43:03] He not only, he was like, hey, in a year, if we're both single, let's meet at that show.
[00:43:08] I just learned who this band was.
[00:43:09] They're blowing my mind.
[00:43:10] A year later, he's so invested in Pentatonix and this new lady of his that he's like,
[00:43:16] I made this weird promise, but let's just go anyway.
[00:43:19] She's not coming.
[00:43:20] It's fine.
[00:43:21] And then he tells her, that's Airport Girl.
[00:43:26] Yeah.
[00:43:26] Wait, can I submit this for your consideration?
[00:43:29] Please do.
[00:43:29] Because I thought about this.
[00:43:30] FYC.
[00:43:30] Okay, so he, exactly.
[00:43:33] So they meet at the airport.
[00:43:34] They have this moment and he's like, oh, hot girl from the airport.
[00:43:36] Then a couple, like say like six months later, he meets his new girlfriend and things are
[00:43:41] great.
[00:43:42] Then around Christmas time, he sees the Pentatonix thing.
[00:43:44] Obviously it's the hottest ticket in town.
[00:43:45] He's like, wait, I remember that girl from the airport, like Pentatonix.
[00:43:49] You know what?
[00:43:49] Maybe my new girlfriend will love Pentatonix.
[00:43:51] And he doesn't really.
[00:43:52] Make the connection.
[00:43:54] He hasn't been like stalking her on social because they did the whole before sunrise serendipity
[00:43:59] thing of like, oh, let's leave it up to fate.
[00:44:02] So he vaguely remembers he met a hot girl at the airport.
[00:44:04] That's how the Pentatonix was in his head.
[00:44:06] And then when he sees her there, he's like, oh my, like even, I don't even think he realizes
[00:44:10] it's Airport Girl right away until she gets up on stage.
[00:44:12] And then it's like, all's well that ends well.
[00:44:14] The kindest read of all time.
[00:44:17] And I mean, he is a dude.
[00:44:19] So, you know, I could totally see him forgetting a major part of that.
[00:44:23] Yeah, exactly.
[00:44:23] But also very kind of news.
[00:44:25] I don't think he really knows.
[00:44:26] Unless he does that all over town.
[00:44:27] He just meets women and he's like, finds out what they're into.
[00:44:30] He's like, next year at this time, what if we meet at the It's a Wonderful Life showing
[00:44:33] at the old cinema, at the blah, blah, blah.
[00:44:36] If he's that guy.
[00:44:37] Can you imagine being the girl that he goes with and you find out that he was also going
[00:44:40] to meet another girl at the same concert?
[00:44:42] Right.
[00:44:44] He's also got somebody waiting for him over at Macklemore.
[00:44:47] That's right.
[00:44:48] Yeah.
[00:44:49] I got the expensive ticket later.
[00:44:51] That's right.
[00:44:51] Let's get really quickly to the what the Hallmark story.
[00:44:54] We wonder what could have been.
[00:44:55] Maybe have a good some clarity.
[00:44:55] Any questions that we still have?
[00:44:56] What are we still wondering about?
[00:44:57] Jax, you go ahead.
[00:44:59] Look, Nikki Duvall, who plays Becca, the manager in this.
[00:45:02] I want to see a sequel where she is managing Jordi and then also Rusty Cundee, who played
[00:45:09] the Christmas mime.
[00:45:10] And let's just get all that on the mix and see what's happening.
[00:45:14] That's the director.
[00:45:15] That's the director.
[00:45:17] Oh, my gosh.
[00:45:17] That's right.
[00:45:18] Correct.
[00:45:18] That's funny.
[00:45:19] Look, he was awesome.
[00:45:20] The mime was great.
[00:45:21] He was funny.
[00:45:21] The mime was great.
[00:45:22] Yeah.
[00:45:23] Alonzo?
[00:45:24] Yeah.
[00:45:25] No, I love the idea of a get him to the Greek with that manager.
[00:45:28] She's hilarious.
[00:45:29] But I need to know the backstory between Jordi and the Nutcracker guy and what's their beef
[00:45:34] about and why has Jordi been blacklisted from attending this club?
[00:45:38] So great.
[00:45:39] There's clearly stuff went down and I need to know about it.
[00:45:42] Maybe.
[00:45:43] And there was a love story there, too.
[00:45:46] The Slash Tires.
[00:45:47] One Slash Tire.
[00:45:47] Yeah.
[00:45:47] One Slash Tire in his band.
[00:45:49] Yeah.
[00:45:49] That's all you can do.
[00:45:50] That's a spin-off movie.
[00:45:51] You would watch.
[00:45:52] Yes.
[00:45:53] I guess mine is, you know, they were supposed to bring that purse back to the weirdos,
[00:46:00] the Chanel purse, to the 86th floor.
[00:46:02] That was the deal.
[00:46:03] Is he just...
[00:46:05] Sitting there waiting?
[00:46:05] Sitting there.
[00:46:06] At what point does he go, I don't think they're coming back?
[00:46:08] That would have been a great post-credits button.
[00:46:11] I wonder when they're coming back.
[00:46:14] It was also like, just, yeah, just that, you know, you send somebody to do something and
[00:46:19] you think it's going to happen.
[00:46:20] At what point does he go, okay, I've got to start making some other plans?
[00:46:23] And they prepaid for that sugar plum purse, too.
[00:46:26] I know.
[00:46:27] I know.
[00:46:27] Dan?
[00:46:28] Yeah, mine is a line in this movie early on when they're trying to figure out how to get
[00:46:32] this Pentatonix ticket and Christina Milian and her BFF are talking about what they can
[00:46:38] do and they're looking at all these websites and the BFF says this line, you check Live
[00:46:42] Nation, I'm calling American Express.
[00:46:45] What does that mean?
[00:46:46] When you call the credit card company, do they sell tickets?
[00:46:50] It's American Express a lot of times for their card holders will offer like a code early
[00:46:54] on so that you have like first dibs.
[00:46:57] But that would have been long before, right?
[00:46:58] Right.
[00:46:59] I don't know if they can help you this late in the game, but there is some connection between
[00:47:04] American Express and concert.
[00:47:05] They have a partnership with Live Nation Ticketmaster, so maybe they're just trying anything.
[00:47:10] I mean, we have an American Express career in the business and I know the one thing I
[00:47:13] thought was they don't give you a spending limit and it's like, is she calling to try
[00:47:18] to get her spending limit, like to make sure she can buy this if she has to buy it?
[00:47:21] If they have any tickets left in their site.
[00:47:23] You do have a direct line to somebody.
[00:47:25] So you would call, hey, American Express person.
[00:47:27] Yes, I have a direct contact to someone's office.
[00:47:30] That's the best thing about American Express.
[00:47:32] You don't have to stay on the whole.
[00:47:32] We did, everybody.
[00:47:34] And we're going to be back next week with Hot Frosty.
[00:47:37] Hot Frosty already?
[00:47:39] A lot to live up to.
[00:47:40] It's crazy.
[00:47:41] It's crazy.
[00:47:42] And then, of course, we will be back tomorrow with another one.
[00:47:44] Until then, maybe we're the first to wish you a Merry Christmas!
