[00:01:10] My kids do the same thing they don't eat a meal and sit down the entire time. That's true kids have to

[00:01:48] I have cousins who are twins and when they were young and I was like in middle school

[00:01:54] Their mom would be like no singing at the table. I'd be like that's a terrible rule

[00:01:57] This mom doesn't know what she's talking about when my when I have kids

[00:02:00] They're gonna be able to sing at the table because I sing at the table blah blah blah and then my kids twins

[00:02:06] Started singing at the table and what happens is is one of them sings and the other ones like I can do it better louder stronger and then it becomes

[00:02:14] Unstoppable the train has left the station and they don't hear they're in a tunnel

[00:02:18] They don't hear anybody else put themselves and they're back and forth going screen watch this watch this Ray

[00:02:23] Watch this watch this and then they get mad at each other because one interrupted the other and this the whole meal

[00:02:28] It's done and so unfortunately

[00:02:30] We made a no singing rule the table and it hurts me as much as her stem because we'll go out to sushi kingdom

[00:02:35] And you know that soundtrack is all bangers

[00:02:37] And I'll start singing a song and my kids the rules police when it's not them are like dad

[00:02:43] You know you're not to sing at the table and I'm like you're right. Yeah, it's really you're alright

[00:02:48] I'm the reason that that rule exists

[00:02:51] Yeah, it is to keep me in line

[00:02:53] You know how often I get up

[00:02:56] Around the room

[00:07:34] I love the holiday season so much none things you love about the holidays

[00:07:42] Excited about the day. Let me tell you nine things one the lights to the trees three the ornaments for candy

[00:09:06] We're gonna call her JJ for the rest of me because they do as well and Henryk accidentally causes JJ's papers to go

[00:09:22] She I'm just happy that Brett's not here today it would have been a tough day to have a guess

[00:09:38] She forgets one of the paper so JJ tracks. I'm sorry

[00:09:41] No, so Henryk Henryk tracks her down at school and brings her the paper

[00:09:46] he spies a Norwegian troll on her desk and

[00:09:51] Tells her that he was gonna bring the other Jessica Johnson in Norway for Christmas

[00:09:56] We got a few Norwegian trolls that messaged us on the Instagram

[00:09:59] absolutely, um, I

[00:10:01] Already have a ticket for a Jessica Johnson. So how about you just tag along? She's like hard pass, bro

[00:10:07] But when she's in need of some more time to finish her dissertation

[00:10:11] She is faced with a dilemma either don't finish it or get extra time by going to Norway

[00:10:17] It's a very specific deal, but one she can't pass up

[00:10:20] So she packs up the troll and heads to Norway with a stranger man

[00:10:26] They get there and we learned that the Norwegians all hate each other their words not mine

[00:10:31] He plans on ditching she plans on ditching Henryk as soon as possible

[00:10:36] But his sister insists that she joins him for his niece's recital and there's nothing she can do there

[00:10:44] Once you've been invited to a recital you can't say no

[00:10:47] And so it happens naturally the family insists that she comes to stay with their grandma

[00:10:54] Astrid

[00:10:56] She hangs out a bit with Henryk

[00:10:59] And she notices that people are on town seem very angry at Henry

[00:11:04] Why are people so mad at Henryk? She eats dinner with the family. They talk about how Norway

[00:11:10] Um has different words for different types of love

[00:11:14] So that's fun

[00:11:16] And we find out that the old Jessica Johnson was really just his assistant resigning

[00:11:21] No romance at all. So all above board there. Uh, she sees him dressed up best

[00:11:28] I can figure as an Amish fellow

[00:11:31] And uh, she's thirsty af

[00:11:34] boy

[00:11:36] Tough if you were yeah, the Amish are listening Dan the Amish are listening. That's why you shouldn't make fun of them because they're not listening, right?

[00:11:45] I'm saying now what you're saying is is if people aren't listening that gives you the green light to just be like that person's

[00:11:52] I just didn't want I didn't want you to just think you are I am unbelievable

[00:11:57] Anyways, she likes

[00:12:00] Um, he finally opens up about why everyone hates him. He was supposed to

[00:13:08] Apparently it was a real brutal fall. It goes viral on tiktok every other day. Uh

[00:13:19] They don't give a flying turd

[00:13:22] They hate us

[00:13:26] Turns out that they don't actually hate them. It's a big bit everybody

[00:13:30] Big funny we're gonna fight you just kid and drinks all around. I don't know man. Uh, astrid

[00:13:35] Tells JJ she wants to be her

[00:13:39] She wants to be her new grandma

[00:13:41] Then she takes them to this guy who also happens to be JJ's old coach because he knows a lot about trolls

[00:13:49] In fact, he does know about this specific troll. He made it. He also did the dirty with JJ's grandma

[00:13:56] He's her grandpa. She's overwhelmed with fields

[00:13:59] So she wanders through the forest like she's in the Taylor Swift music video

[00:14:03] Henrik shows up limp rums through the woods

[00:14:06] Finds her hugs her they go to look at the northern lights and celebrate Christmas together

[00:14:11] Grandpa coach tells henrik that he should be a coach hands him this thing and says hey, look at this

[00:14:17] You should be a coach henrik and JJ walk and talk about the future and how she wants to move here

[00:14:23] They go to kiss but not before she tells the talk a couple of kids to get lost to scrammo

[00:14:28] This is gonna be a good kiss. They do kiss

[00:14:31] I don't know for how long because they fade to black and that my friends was

[00:14:39] They just fade to black come brain fade to black. We'll talk about it. We're gonna be right back here at edelman

[00:21:13] Um, but yeah, overall I had I had a good time. It's not one of my favorites of of the year

[00:21:18] Uh, but I would not be upset to um have this on in the background again or something like that

[00:21:24] Rat presence to maybe uh, not like the most christmasy of movies in the traditional american sense of

[00:21:31] Christmas uh christmas feels, uh, but I like that and I like there's a lot of things and I'll get to the the fields

[00:21:37] But there are specific things about the culture. Uh, that I that made me real happy and I'll just say god's rule to you

[00:21:44] Great awesome. Um, I will say kill hater. Amish, which means brand hates the amish

[00:21:51] Uh, and then I'll get back to my hot take my name in norwegian is kill

[00:21:57] Yeah, I just typed in brand. Wow

[00:21:59] The amish and that's what it's k i l so kill kill hater. Amish. Yes. Um, so we have a problem here

[00:22:06] And it's it's a growing problem and I think

[00:22:09] We have two things that are happening at once one is is this is

[00:22:13] An unmistakably bad movie, uh the worst

[00:22:17] Trope by brand's admission the worst trope is I've got this

[00:22:23] Thing this trinkets this relic. I don't know anything about it

[00:22:27] And now I'm on the hunt for why it matters. It is consistently bad boring

[00:22:33] Um, and and this movie suffers greatly because of that the contrivances in this movie are absurd

[00:22:40] The fact that all these people he thinks all these people hate him when they don't

[00:22:43] Oh everything about her staying around even though she insists

[00:22:47] She's not staying around everything about her getting on the plane all of it is terrible

[00:22:51] But on the other side of things

[00:22:54] We have reand and fish and listen. I don't know what

[00:22:58] I just don't know what to tell you

[00:22:59] For years people have been like well tyler heins was in the movie so it can do no wrong

[00:23:04] I have heard like legit articulate defenses of movies like always amore

[00:23:09] Just because it starts with tyler heins is great. He's so hot. He's in the movie blah blah blah doesn't matter

[00:23:15] And I can see right through that but

[00:23:18] Reand and fish is so disarming

[00:23:21] So charming so adorable

[00:23:24] That it's it just is like

[00:23:27] I was I was just sitting there going man. This movie is bad, but she

[00:23:33] Is not she is great. And so

[00:23:36] I she's kind of like the female tyler heins

[00:23:39] She is her presence alone in these movies

[00:23:42] Is starting to elevate what would other by otherwise be just a tough watch

[00:23:48] Um, and so she's she's a star and she's above this material by a good amount

[00:23:54] And when she's on screen the movie works better than it should the movie's terrible

[00:24:00] The ride like all of it is not good

[00:24:02] But she's great. And so it's going to end up probably in my top 15 somehow and I don't know how

[00:24:09] Aside from reand and fishes in it and apparently I'm that big a fan. There you go. There you go

[00:24:48] I guess because we do the vix vix segment it made it

[00:24:51] Super exciting just for a second there. Uh, so that was a good feels and also that there was a line in this movie

[00:24:57] That I I hope I remember to say this the rest of my life when they're at the dinner the party the wedding party

[00:25:02] I guess and they have that table of cakes and desserts

[00:25:05] He says you don't stop when you're full you stop when you're ashamed

[00:25:09] And like amen. Oh, yeah, man. Amen. Holy cow. What a line. What a line. What a line

[00:25:15] I'm gonna say that for hopefully the rest of my life. What a line. What a line. What a line

[00:26:49] There's always plenty of room and you're never you know in a hurry and you can navigate it easily

[00:27:43] uh her advisor for her dissertation had

[00:27:46] Oh man, I just feel silly to even say he had a full christmas tree in his office

[00:27:52] Then I start thinking about i'm like if you're there so much

[00:27:54] I guess it makes sense to decorate and have a full tree

[00:27:57] But just hauling out a full tree in your office at work just seems like a lot like

[00:28:07] It was so green at christmas time in norway every shot like they tried to make it look wintery

[00:28:12] But every shot where there was a window in the background you can see outside

[00:28:15] You can see birds be singing in the window. It was so green. It was so funny

[00:28:20] He was limping throughout this movie a whole lot because he's nursing that leg injury

[00:28:24] And he decides to test out the old leg on the dance floor. Yeah, he does chicken dance

[00:28:30] Let's just that seems like not an ideal place to like start to let loose is just to bust out on the dance floor

[00:28:38] And uh hands he was at the coach. What was his name again?

[00:28:42] Uh grandpa on unders on derse. Yes on derse his hands over the keys to the national alpine ski team

[00:28:49] to uh

[00:28:50] To our lead someone who's never coached never coached that is a huge one

[00:28:54] Still aligned from my my good friend brand the assistant coaches must be pissed

[00:28:59] Yeah, no kidding. You got a whole team working their whole lives. He's just like nah

[00:29:03] Here's here. You're the king of the castle

[00:29:06] So I think maybe start them start them at a lower level let somebody else step up to head coach

[00:29:10] But I guess good for maybe he's that good that you just need him at that level. Maybe yeah, that's tough

[00:29:18] But whenever it does it's always a big uproar when someone gets a first job as a head coach of something

[00:29:24] It does and it's always tough. It's always tough. Uh, I got a

[00:29:35] Like I wish that was just the way it is everybody bring a change of clothes

[00:30:22] Happens for maybe a second then fades to black

[00:30:26] We get one little pecker and that's it fade to black

[00:30:34] We have been waiting all movie and all you give us is a pecker

[00:32:11] Then he does it a second time and she's like just as scared and then in norwegia as brand says in norway

[00:32:18] In the room where she's staying. It's her own personal space

[00:32:21] Close the door

[00:32:23] And instead she leaves the door open and he's just right there and she acts as though

[00:32:27] She's being wrought like close the door. Just close the door

[00:32:31] You know save us all a lot of time

[00:32:33] And you won't get scared nearly as much if we just if we just close the door. That's all i'm asking you to do

[00:32:39] I found the fact that his ski teammates

[00:32:43] Like acted mad at him but weren't mad like he keeps seeing them throughout town and they're like bumping him and glaring him

[00:32:50] And that it's all a bit to be one of the most awkward weird

[00:32:54] Terrible moments of this movie. He honestly believes these people are angry at him either

[00:33:00] He misread that and they never were or they all collectively got together and said

[00:33:06] Let's make him think

[00:33:08] That we're mad at him about an injury he couldn't control from two

[00:33:12] Years ago

[00:33:14] That is too dark a humor even for me

[00:33:17] Bryant like that is that is the level of humor that I would not aspire to

[00:33:21] I took it as they actually were mad at him and then they got to talking to

[00:33:25] Straighten out who got it who talked to him. Wasn't it the brother?

[00:33:28] So they were actually mad at this guy. That's all I took it. I thought they actually were and then

[00:33:32] Yeah, erin shaking her head off camera. I just what were you gonna say?

[00:33:37] Two kids that like bump into him and then come back at the end to interrupt the kiss

[00:33:42] I think they were mad

[00:33:45] But I feel like they were younger and like yeah, but his teammates that he sees all movie that are glaring at him

[00:33:51] I just thought it was it's an ultimate weight

[00:33:54] What because it doesn't like it's something they need to move the plot along that doesn't make

[00:33:58] Any categorical sense, but we have to spend the rest of our time on the northern lights

[00:34:03] These northern lights were stage directed

[00:34:06] They are outside and they're looking at an empty night sky

[00:34:09] And he's like watch this and you watch as from stage left

[00:34:13] Or stage right excuse me the northern lights start to mosey onto screen

[00:34:18] I am not a scientist, but i'm pretty sure the northern lights are there

[00:34:22] They don't like creep across the sky like a shooting star

[00:34:26] I like and you never see all of them. You just see like this little bit

[00:34:30] He's like if if you can only see a little bit just turn like just turn

[00:34:34] To where you can see all of them in their majestic glory

[00:34:37] And instead they just kind of like start creeping on through the screen and that was a really embarrassing scene for all of them

[00:34:44] Like yeah, once you see them all the lights you've seen them all. That's right

[00:34:48] Is that it? Yeah, that's it. It's time for

[00:34:50] What the whole market story wonder what could have been better

[00:34:54] Right, what are you still wondering about? Yeah, I was just wondering why

[00:34:57] Did florins ever reach out or try to reach out to unders to let him know

[00:35:02] What went down like he obviously didn't know he had a granddaughter

[00:35:06] But did she ever try and if she didn't like why not like she was so weird that she just took off

[00:36:02] Is that just kind of a part of his life? Maybe he keeps trying to dance and he keeps aggravating

[00:36:15] Dan yeah, so everything in this movie moves really fast. Uh, I've saw it from the the leading dude

[00:36:23] That's not a joke like everything moves very very fast in this movie. It's very efficient

[00:36:28] And it's tough to be that fast and efficient and not messy when you're talking about

[00:36:34] Found family lost family. This is a possible

[00:36:38] I mean we this may be her grandfather and they basically wrap that up with no flash forward by just going

[00:36:45] I'm not gonna get a DNA test. It's good enough for me. You you love my grandmother

[00:36:49] I love your love my grandmother. So that's great

[00:36:51] Here's you can stay here as long as you want and I feel like if any movie needed a flash forward like

[00:36:57] One year later to see how dudes leg is improved and how she's like like

[00:37:04] Adjusted this movie needed one of those and it didn't get one and I thought that was unfortunate and would have liked to see it
