Chris shows up at his girlfriend Joanna's parents' house expecting to meet Joanna, but Joanna is running late. A couple of hours late, in fact. He's like, "I'll just wait on you." She's like, "Oh, they're definitely watching you from the window, so you're gonna have to go in." Just as Joanna is about to give him a piece of advice that starts with "Don't ask them about…," her phone dies.
They invite Chris in to help decorate for their Christmas party. It's stepmom Nell and Dad Dave. Dave makes fun jokes like, "We might poison you with nuts." They sit down to get to know each other a little bit, and Chris asks a question: "How did you two meet?" They light up. It was 10 years ago to the date. He gets on this train full of people in ugly Christmas sweaters. Apparently, it's the inaugural ugly Christmas sweater convention. He finds the one person not wearing a Christmas sweater and sits across from her. It's Nell. He says chit-chat is hard, and she doesn't immediately tell him to get lost. She's a keeper. They begin to hit it off. The train stops due to ice, and he sees a sign for Fredo's Fruitcake, which she also happens to love. Two people who love fruitcake on the same train! He's like, "You know what, I’m gonna go get some." As he's in the store, the train begins to move. It leaves him behind! To make matters worse, they both remember each other's names incorrectly, with no way to contact each other!
Dave is talking to his daughter and says, "I just hope that fate brings us back together." But he's a busy bee. Dave is a woodworker who is planning the town’s Christmas festival. He gets a letter from the city and has to call a woman named Eleanor. Who could that be?! Turns out she's against the festival because it isn’t good budget-wise, so the phone conversation does not go well.
The next day, Dave and his daughter are walking around town, and she goes to pick up some coffee. Suddenly, Dave and Nell bump into one another! They realize that they both had the names wrong, and they're flirting hard! But then Dave gets an SOS text from his daughter. He calls, but there's no answer. So he's like, "I gotta go make sure she's okay, don't move!" Before he gets back, Nell has to move her car to avoid getting a parking ticket. Womp womp.
Joanna can't believe that he didn't get her number again! So, she posts a "Missed Connection" on his behalf. Believe it or not, they bump into each other again! This time, they exchange numbers immediately! Well, they try. He doesn't have his phone, so he tries committing it to memory but can't because people on the street are just yelling out numbers. And she puts his number in her phone but ends up dropping it before she can save it!
Wouldn't you know it, she ends up finding "his" missed connection. So she messages him, and Joanna gets it and asks her out on a date on behalf of Dave. So she comes over for his Christmas party, and they are having a great time. They're slow dancing when suddenly it all clicks for Nell—Dave is the David she's been arguing with about the Christmas festival. So she leaves and ghosts him!
Dave and Joanna are so confused, but it all becomes clear to Joanna when she joins Dave for a meeting about the festival and sees Nell. So she convinces him to leave. She decides to try to make this work by getting Nell to meet with her and tell her that she knows who she is, but her dad still doesn't. So Joanna comes up with a plan to help Nell tell David the truth. She shows up at his farm with a fruitcake, and he gives her a tour of the festival. She begins to realize how much work he's been putting into this festival and that maybe it's not an entire waste of resources.
She finally comes clean about who she is, but before she can, he tells her that he really likes her. The moment is so romantic, and she can't find it in herself to tell him the whole truth.
Oh hey, back in the present, Joanna finally shows up after a bunch of travel hurdles. They don't quite get off to a strong start. He tells her that he loves her, and she creams him with icing and runs off. He decides he should just leave.
Back in the past, Nell is about to tell Dave the truth, but he ends up bashing "Eleanor" before she can. Then the fire marshal shows up and shuts the festival down. She feels so bad, so she finally goes to tell him the truth. She starts by saying how much she likes him and how great he makes her feel. Just as she's about to say who she is, the fire marshal comes back in and is like, "GREAT NEWS, you pass!" and hands Eleanor the report, and it all becomes clear to David. Dave is really mad. She says she was scared to tell him the truth because what if David and Eleanor can't be together? "I just want to be Dave and Nell." He's like, "Well, maybe we aren't meant to be," and leaves.
Back in present day, Joanna texts Chris, "I love you," and her parents encourage her to go get him. No regrets.
Back to the story that matters, Eleanor goes to find David and tell him that she was wrong and that she wants him to be a part of the magic he's created. He tells her that he is sorry for what he said; he doesn't find her unlikable at all. She says, "You're my fate." He says, "We belong." And they kiss in front of Santa in an early running for kiss of the season.
Back to present day, Chris runs to make it back to the festival, and Joanna is so happy to see him come back. They both say they love each other and THEY KISS. Chris' parents come to spend Christmas as one big happy family, and they immediately ask Nell and Dave, "How'd you two meet?"

[00:00:01] Hi, I'm Brian and I love Hallmark Christmas movies!
[00:00:05] I'm Brian and I like Hallmark Christmas movies.
[00:00:08] I'm Dan and I despise Hallmark Christmas movies and this is the Deck The Hallmark Podcast!
[00:00:13] Deck The Hallmark, it's this podcast.
[00:00:19] We're friends host this podcast.
[00:00:23] We hope you like this jolly podcast.
[00:00:31] Well hello everybody!
[00:00:34] Happy day to you!
[00:00:36] It is Wednesday as we know.
[00:00:39] We are recording this on Wednesday morning, hump day in fact.
[00:00:42] Can you believe the election not decided yet?
[00:00:44] I was gonna say, I actually just got word, we do have the results.
[00:00:48] Oh let's go to the map?
[00:00:49] If everybody waits until the end of the episode, we will reveal the results of the election.
[00:00:57] And we are recording this on Wednesday morning.
[00:00:59] There's no way that this bit could go wrong.
[00:01:01] There's no way that this is fake.
[00:01:03] No way.
[00:01:04] Yeah.
[00:01:04] There's just some news you can trust.
[00:01:05] That's right.
[00:01:06] That's exactly right.
[00:01:07] But we can't do it right now.
[00:01:08] We can't do it right now because we're gonna talk about our holiday story!
[00:01:11] Duh!
[00:01:11] Much more important.
[00:01:12] Which is very exciting.
[00:01:16] Nicky Deloach.
[00:01:17] Yeah.
[00:01:17] She's back at it.
[00:01:19] Back at it.
[00:01:19] No dead relative.
[00:01:21] It's unbelievable.
[00:01:22] Let's give it up for that.
[00:01:22] That's big.
[00:01:23] That's huge.
[00:01:24] That's huge.
[00:01:26] But there's a lot of things that happen in this movie.
[00:01:28] Things that you might find while playing Christmas Movie Magic.
[00:01:32] Yep.
[00:01:33] Our go-to card game to play during these Christmas movies because it's the only one we know of.
[00:01:40] But also because it's the best.
[00:01:42] It's the best.
[00:01:43] It is so much fun.
[00:01:44] No one would even try to come up with a better version of this because it's impossible.
[00:01:48] Christmas Movie Magic.
[00:01:49] A game that we've partnered with Think and Think Games.
[00:01:53] Double Think.
[00:01:53] And putting it out into the world and we love it and we think that you're gonna love it.
[00:01:57] There's still, you know, 40 of these left this year.
[00:02:02] So it's not too late.
[00:02:03] You might be thinking, it's November.
[00:02:04] Is it too late?
[00:02:06] It's not too late.
[00:02:07] Not even close.
[00:02:07] It's not too late to call the judge and it's not too late to apologize and it's not too late
[00:02:11] to get this game.
[00:02:13] So deck.com slash game.
[00:02:16] You can get it right now.
[00:02:17] Brian, you were telling me that you brought this up to New England with you over the weekend
[00:02:23] and that you played it with some friends and family.
[00:02:24] How did that go?
[00:02:25] How did that go?
[00:02:25] How did that go?
[00:02:26] It was new to them.
[00:02:27] They had never seen anything like it.
[00:02:29] And so, I mean, I'd like to say, I feel like now I'm comfortable saying I'm the Billy's
[00:02:33] champion and I'm the Christmas Movie Magic champion of the Northeast.
[00:02:37] Yeah.
[00:02:38] And you had to go where I wasn't around because I'm undefeated.
[00:02:41] Well, yeah.
[00:02:41] I'm in your territory.
[00:02:42] I had to get far, far away.
[00:02:44] That's right.
[00:02:44] So, yeah, it was a big hit.
[00:02:46] It was a little contentious.
[00:02:48] You know, people wanted to just, you know, this is a classic argument.
[00:02:52] They said it.
[00:02:53] So, I get it.
[00:02:54] And so, you have to explain it, Rudy.
[00:02:55] No, no, no.
[00:02:56] You have to see it on screen.
[00:02:57] That's how we play.
[00:02:57] Those are house rules.
[00:02:58] Yeah, that's true.
[00:02:59] That's how we play.
[00:02:59] You don't see it to believe it.
[00:03:00] You see it on screen.
[00:03:01] You can't just hear somebody talk about hot chocolate.
[00:03:03] No, you got to see the hot chocolate.
[00:03:05] So, it's, you know, people think they're getting away with stealing points.
[00:03:08] I'm not letting it happen.
[00:03:09] Not on my watch.
[00:03:09] And the good news is there is a Christmas festival slash town event that happens.
[00:03:16] So, if you had that card, you could play big points.
[00:03:18] Lots of cards to be played.
[00:03:20] Lots of cards to be played at this one, I believe.
[00:03:22] Aaron, you've been playing basically every movie that you've been watching.
[00:03:26] And if I remember correctly, you said that this particular movie was a high card rating.
[00:03:31] Yeah.
[00:03:32] I went through most of the cards in the deck.
[00:03:34] Wow.
[00:03:35] Is this the highest?
[00:03:36] Did you beat yourself or who won?
[00:03:38] No, I haven't been keeping track.
[00:03:40] Brian gave me this great suggestion that I should be, you know, as I put a card down at
[00:03:45] the end of the movie, I should tally up all the points and be like, oh, the potential
[00:03:48] for this movie is scoring potential.
[00:03:50] 50 points.
[00:03:52] Yeah.
[00:03:52] I haven't been doing that and I am not going to go back and rewatch these movies to do
[00:03:56] that.
[00:03:57] I told you we should get a new producer.
[00:03:59] Years ago.
[00:03:59] Just based on how many cards I've been going through, this one was pretty, like I only
[00:04:04] had like 10 or so cards left.
[00:04:06] Wow.
[00:04:06] High usage.
[00:04:06] High usage.
[00:04:07] High usage.
[00:04:08] High usage.
[00:04:10] High usage.
[00:04:10] And the only ones so far this year, it is Nativity, Advent Calendar.
[00:04:16] Those are the two toughest ones that I've ever seen.
[00:04:19] Are those both five pointers?
[00:04:20] I think so.
[00:04:21] Got to be right.
[00:04:22] But like there has been like one movie this year that had an Advent Calendar.
[00:04:25] Wow.
[00:04:26] Any nativities to be found?
[00:04:28] I think one.
[00:04:29] This is the problem, you know?
[00:04:30] Yeah.
[00:04:31] This is, yeah.
[00:04:32] This is why it's being canceled.
[00:04:33] That's what I said.
[00:04:34] We should write a movie that's a perfect score.
[00:04:37] Yeah.
[00:04:38] You might be wondering who I am.
[00:04:40] I would love, who?
[00:04:41] Oh, I thought it was just Brand.
[00:04:42] No.
[00:04:43] No, no, no.
[00:04:44] It's me.
[00:04:46] You're the problem?
[00:04:47] No, no, no, no.
[00:04:48] I'm, how do I say this?
[00:04:50] How do you?
[00:04:50] So.
[00:04:51] Candace Cameron Buret?
[00:04:52] No, I'm Cockroach from the other day.
[00:04:54] Cockroach from the other day.
[00:04:55] Oh, he's back.
[00:04:55] So I've been actually since watching The Grimmsman, I've been watching a lot of the,
[00:04:59] the Hallmark Christmas.
[00:05:00] Oh, now it makes sense.
[00:05:02] Yeah.
[00:05:03] And really quickly, did you see that an email came in and they didn't like me?
[00:05:08] I didn't, but it doesn't surprise me.
[00:05:10] I know.
[00:05:11] Wait, wait a second.
[00:05:12] It surprised me.
[00:05:13] You can read?
[00:05:14] I can.
[00:05:15] It surprised you that-
[00:05:16] You have access to the email?
[00:05:17] I don't think that they mentioned Cockroach specifically, but they did say that we're not
[00:05:22] funny and I read between the lines.
[00:05:24] Yeah, as you should.
[00:05:25] Did it come in after the Monday episode?
[00:05:27] It came in, yes, it did.
[00:05:28] Okay.
[00:05:28] It did, yeah.
[00:05:29] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:05:30] And you, so you think the Venom and Cockroach bit did not land is what you're saying?
[00:05:34] That's the only thing, and by bit you mean reality and where she lived.
[00:05:37] Yeah, or they sang Monster.
[00:05:39] I think Venom and a Cockroach singing Monster Mash is a bit regardless of if they're real
[00:05:44] or not, right?
[00:05:44] Okay.
[00:05:45] I agree to disagree.
[00:05:46] You can't, you can't bit friendship.
[00:05:48] You can't bit friendship.
[00:05:49] You can ship it.
[00:05:50] That's true.
[00:05:51] Friend bit.
[00:05:51] Really quickly.
[00:05:52] So I did watch a lot of movies and I've been playing this game and it's really fun.
[00:05:55] That's all I want to say.
[00:05:55] Thank you, Cockroach.
[00:05:56] And you can hold these cards.
[00:05:57] I can.
[00:05:58] It's a big cockroach.
[00:05:59] Or big hands.
[00:06:00] You know what they say?
[00:06:01] Big handed cockroach.
[00:06:02] You know what they say?
[00:06:03] I sure do.
[00:06:03] Big hands, big cockroach.
[00:06:04] That's exactly right.
[00:06:05] Got it.
[00:06:06] That's exactly right.
[00:06:07] We are awesome.
[00:06:09] We're so good at this show.
[00:06:10] I love Cockroach.
[00:06:11] I hope he sticks around all year.
[00:06:12] I think he might.
[00:06:13] I hope he does.
[00:06:14] Oh, there he goes.
[00:06:15] Yeah.
[00:06:17] Look at those hands.
[00:06:18] The fact that he can still run around-
[00:06:20] I know.
[00:06:21] It's crazy.
[00:06:21] And not just trip over himself.
[00:06:22] Yeah, I think the hands help with the crawling actually.
[00:06:25] Yeah.
[00:06:25] It's not all leg.
[00:06:27] It's not all when cockroaches-
[00:06:28] But the two hands are bigger than his legs and so he's just kind of, you'd think he'd
[00:06:32] just flip over.
[00:06:33] No, it's a center of gravity situation.
[00:06:35] Okay.
[00:06:35] Big butt.
[00:06:36] Don't lie.
[00:06:37] I noticed.
[00:06:38] You're kidding?
[00:06:39] I'm only human.
[00:06:40] I noticed that Cockroach has a big butt which helps way down when he's walking on
[00:06:45] his hands.
[00:06:45] That makes a lot of sense.
[00:06:46] I know.
[00:06:47] It's only-
[00:06:47] It's purely science.
[00:06:48] John Mayer said it best.
[00:06:49] It's purely science.
[00:06:51] Oh my God.
[00:06:52] Mothers be good to your cockroach.
[00:06:53] Yeah.
[00:06:53] That's exactly right.
[00:06:54] Gravity.
[00:06:54] That's right.
[00:06:55] It's like in gravity but yeah.
[00:06:57] Sure.
[00:06:58] Fair enough.
[00:07:00] Let's get to our holiday story shall we?
[00:07:03] Big butt cockroach.
[00:07:03] Oh man.
[00:07:05] You know what?
[00:07:06] I can't believe people don't like the show.
[00:07:07] I can't believe there are people who complain.
[00:07:08] It's always news to me.
[00:07:09] It's always like-
[00:07:10] It's every time.
[00:07:11] We won't get an email on that.
[00:07:12] I have to be honest.
[00:07:12] It's actually more news to me when someone does like the show.
[00:07:16] That's always the more shocking thing to me.
[00:07:18] It's like you, you, like we have a community of double deckers that listen every day.
[00:07:22] I'm like how do you?
[00:07:23] How do you do it?
[00:07:24] How do you do?
[00:07:25] How do you do?
[00:07:26] Um, our holiday story originally aired on November 2nd, 2024.
[00:07:31] Did you just do your hat?
[00:07:32] Okay, great.
[00:07:32] How do you do?
[00:07:33] I'm on Hallmark Channel.
[00:07:34] Went a little something like this.
[00:07:34] Chris shows up at his girlfriend Joanna's parents house expecting to meet Joanna there.
[00:07:40] But Joanna is running late.
[00:07:42] A couple hours late in fact.
[00:07:43] She's going to be taking the train though so what could go wrong?
[00:07:47] Um, he's like I'll just wait on you and she's like oh they're definitely watching you out the window right now.
[00:07:51] So you're gonna have to go in.
[00:07:52] Sure enough they are.
[00:07:53] And uh, just as Joanna's about to give him some advice that starts with don't ask them about.
[00:08:00] Her phone dies.
[00:08:01] Don't ask them about what?
[00:08:02] He'll never know.
[00:08:03] They invite Chris in to help decorate for their Christmas party.
[00:08:07] It is stepmom Nell and dad Dave.
[00:08:10] And Dave makes funny jokes like we might poison you with nuts.
[00:08:14] You loved that joke didn't you?
[00:08:15] A little too close though.
[00:08:17] A little too close.
[00:08:17] We would never.
[00:08:18] No.
[00:08:18] Personally we would never.
[00:08:19] It's not personal.
[00:08:20] Uh, they sit down to get to know each other a little bit and Chris asks the question how did you two meet?
[00:08:27] Uh, they light up.
[00:08:28] It was ten years ago.
[00:08:30] He gets on a train of people that are all in ugly Christmas sweaters.
[00:08:35] Apparently it's the inaugural ugly Christmas sweater convention which we know now is still going on.
[00:08:42] Ten years later.
[00:08:43] Because uh, the daughter was on a train and it was the same thing.
[00:08:47] Anyway, it doesn't matter.
[00:08:48] Uh, he finds the one person on this train that's not wearing a Christmas sweater and sits across from her.
[00:08:54] It is Nell.
[00:08:55] He says chit chats hard and she doesn't immediately tell him to get lost.
[00:09:00] So she's a keeper.
[00:09:00] Uh, they begin to hit it off.
[00:09:03] The train stops due to ice and he sees a sign for Frito's fruitcake.
[00:09:08] Um, which she also happens to love.
[00:09:12] Man, these two, they just love fruitcake and they're the same train.
[00:09:16] Just get married.
[00:09:18] Um, he's like, you know what?
[00:09:20] I want to go get us some.
[00:09:21] Uh, you know, it's not going to leave for like 30 minutes.
[00:09:24] We're going to be good to go.
[00:09:24] As he's in the store, the train begins to move.
[00:09:28] It leaves him behind.
[00:09:29] To make matters worse, they both remember each other's names incorrectly.
[00:09:34] They heard it wrong or whatever.
[00:09:35] So they have no way to contact each other and no way to find each other.
[00:09:39] Dave is, uh, talking to his daughter and says, I just hope that fate brings us back together.
[00:09:46] But he's a busy bee.
[00:09:48] Dave is a woodworker who is planning the town's Christmas festival that they do every year.
[00:09:53] Uh, he gets a letter from the city that he has to call a woman named Eleanor.
[00:09:58] Who could this be making me call them?
[00:10:02] I bet it's good news.
[00:10:03] What else could it be?
[00:10:05] Uh, turns out it's bad news.
[00:10:06] Uh, she is against the, she works for the town and she's against the festival because it isn't good budget wise.
[00:10:13] And so the phone conversation does not go well.
[00:10:16] The next day, Dave and his daughter are walking around town and she goes to pick up some coffee.
[00:10:22] Suddenly Dave and Nell bump into each other.
[00:10:25] They realize that they had their name names wrong.
[00:10:28] And, uh, but you know, we've been flirting so hard.
[00:10:31] We didn't even catch it.
[00:10:32] But then Dave gets an SOS text from his daughter and he's like, this must be serious.
[00:10:39] I tries to call her.
[00:10:40] She doesn't answer.
[00:10:40] So he's like, Hey, can you just stay?
[00:10:42] Don't move.
[00:10:43] Don't move a muscle.
[00:10:44] I'll be right back.
[00:10:45] Um, but then he gets held up at the coffee shop, which by the way, it wasn't a big deal.
[00:10:49] She's totally fine.
[00:10:50] Um, but, uh, there was a coffee fiasco, hot chocolate, uh, droppage.
[00:10:55] And so he got held up there a little bit too long.
[00:10:57] And by the time he gets back, she had to move her car, uh, because she was parked in front of a, uh, a fire hydrant.
[00:11:05] So womp womp, once again, they don't get each other's numbers.
[00:11:09] Joanna can't believe that he didn't just get her number.
[00:11:13] And so she posts a misconnection on his behalf.
[00:11:17] And believe it or not, they bump into each other again.
[00:11:20] This time they exchange numbers immediately.
[00:11:22] Well, they try to exchange numbers immediately.
[00:11:24] He doesn't have his phone.
[00:11:25] So he tries to commit it to memory.
[00:11:27] Something that Dan would have no problems with, but I would fail miserably at.
[00:11:30] Um, and, um, she, he gives her his number, but before she can save it into her phone, she drops the phone cracks.
[00:11:39] It has to get a new phone.
[00:11:40] Um, and she, he forgets the number because he's walking around town and a lot of numbers are being thrown out.
[00:11:46] So that's tough stuff break.
[00:11:48] Uh, once you know it, she ends up finding his misconnection.
[00:11:53] And so she messaged him and Joanna gets in and she starts going, he, he, I got it.
[00:11:58] Um, and asks her out on a date on behalf of Dave, come on over to the Christmas party.
[00:12:03] It's going to be wonderful.
[00:12:05] She does.
[00:12:06] And they are having a great time.
[00:12:08] They are slow dancing when suddenly it all clicks in for now.
[00:12:12] When she finds out his last name and whatnot, that Dave is the David that she has been arguing with about the Christmas festival.
[00:12:20] So she leaves and ghosts him.
[00:12:24] Uh, Oh, uh, Dave and Joanna are so confused, but it all becomes clear to Joanna.
[00:12:29] When she sees, when she joins Dave for a meeting at the town hall and, uh, she sees now there and it all clicks into her about who she is.
[00:12:40] So she convinces him to leave.
[00:12:42] Doesn't want to break his little heart.
[00:12:43] Uh, she decides to try to make this work by getting Nell to meet with her and trying to tell her that she should come clean about who she is.
[00:12:53] It would, it would, it would come, it would be better if it came from you rather than me telling her.
[00:12:58] So Joanna comes up with a plan to help now tell David the truth.
[00:13:01] She shows up at his farm with a fruitcake and he gives her a tour of the festival.
[00:13:07] She begins to realize how much work that he's put into this festival and that maybe it's not an entire waste of resources.
[00:13:15] She finally is about to come clean about who she is, but before she can, he tells her that he really likes her.
[00:13:20] The moment is so romantic that she can't find it in herself to tell him the whole truth, nothing but the truth.
[00:13:26] Um, oh, hey, back in the present, Joanna finally shows up after a bunch of train travel hurdles.
[00:13:32] Uh, uh, she and don't have his name down.
[00:13:36] Um, don't get off to the strongest.
[00:13:39] Chris, Chris.
[00:13:40] That's exactly right.
[00:13:41] He tells her that he loves her.
[00:13:43] She creams him with icing and, uh, runs off.
[00:13:47] That's exactly right.
[00:13:48] Um, he decides that he should just leave back in the past.
[00:13:51] Nell is about to tell Dave, uh, the truth, but he ends up, uh, bashing Eleanor before she can about how she's the worst and whatnot.
[00:14:01] Then the fire marshal shows up and shuts down the festival.
[00:14:05] She feels so bad.
[00:14:06] So she finally goes to tell him the truth.
[00:14:08] She starts by saying how much she likes him and how great he makes her feel.
[00:14:13] Uh, she, how great he makes her feel just as she's about to say.
[00:14:17] Also, I'm Eleanor.
[00:14:19] The fire marshal walks up and says, great news.
[00:14:21] You passed and says, oh, great.
[00:14:23] Both of you are here.
[00:14:24] Hands the paper to Eleanor.
[00:14:27] And it becomes clear to David who she is.
[00:14:30] Dave is real mad.
[00:14:31] She says that, uh, she was scared to tell him the truth because what if David and Eleanor can't be together?
[00:14:38] I just want it to be Dave and Nell.
[00:14:40] And he's like, well, maybe we aren't meant to be after all.
[00:14:44] And he leaves back in present day.
[00:14:46] Joanna texts Chris.
[00:14:47] I love you.
[00:14:48] Um, and her parents encourage her to go after him.
[00:14:51] Don't live with any regrets back to the story that matters though for this movie.
[00:14:57] Uh, Eleanor goes to find David and tells, uh, him that she was wrong and that she wants to be a part of the magic that he's creating.
[00:15:04] He tells her that he is sorry for what he said.
[00:15:07] He doesn't find her unlikable at all.
[00:15:09] In fact, quite the opposite.
[00:15:10] She says, you're my fate.
[00:15:12] He says we belong.
[00:15:14] And they kiss in front of Santa.
[00:15:16] I might add, um, in what is I think, in my opinion, and the running for kiss of the season so far.
[00:15:22] Yeah.
[00:15:22] Easily.
[00:15:23] Uh, back to present day.
[00:15:24] Chris runs back to make it, uh, to the festival and Joanna is so happy to see him.
[00:15:29] Uh, they both say that they love each other and they kiss.
[00:15:32] Chris, Chris's parents come over to spend Christmas as one big happy family, which I think is a little bit.
[00:15:37] Easy to say.
[00:15:38] You know, getting tired over here.
[00:15:39] I am.
[00:15:40] I am getting tired.
[00:15:41] Um, but they're all spending Christmas together, which seems to be jumping the gun a little bit.
[00:15:45] Um, but anyway, the parents ask Nell and Dave, how did you two meet the question you should not ask them?
[00:15:53] And that my friends was our holiday story.
[00:15:58] Hey, we did it.
[00:16:01] I closed the app before I remembered the title of the movie.
[00:16:04] Has it ever happened to you?
[00:16:05] Nope.
[00:16:07] Let's, uh, let's take a quick break.
[00:16:09] We'll come back.
[00:16:10] We'll, uh, break this movie down with four segments here on Deck the Hallmark.
[00:16:23] Hey everybody.
[00:16:24] How are we doing?
[00:16:25] Hey everybody.
[00:16:26] Hey everybody.
[00:16:26] My name is Brett Debbie.
[00:16:27] Uh, by the way, new merch.
[00:16:29] New merch.
[00:16:30] Yeah.
[00:16:30] Hit the showroom.com slash shop.
[00:16:31] That's right.
[00:16:33] You got some Brett Debbie merch.
[00:16:34] You got some in my Christmas movie era shirts, uh, sweaters, all sorts of stuff.
[00:16:38] The people that were upset about cockroach definitely going to buy that Brett Debbie merch.
[00:16:42] 100%.
[00:16:43] Definitely.
[00:16:43] Throw it here.
[00:16:44] Throw it here.
[00:16:45] Throw it on in.
[00:16:46] Throw it in the shot.
[00:16:47] This wouldn't fit cockroach.
[00:16:48] This right here.
[00:16:49] Ooh.
[00:16:50] File it out to me such DTH if you want to see it.
[00:16:52] Yeah.
[00:16:52] I didn't know how to hold stuff up.
[00:16:54] Yeah, you do.
[00:16:54] But also, if you're going to be at Christmas con, you can buy one of these from us in person.
[00:16:59] That's right.
[00:16:59] Save yourself some shipping.
[00:17:00] That's right.
[00:17:01] It's up to you.
[00:17:02] However you want to do it.
[00:17:02] However you want to do it.
[00:17:03] Six and a half.
[00:17:04] That was my understanding.
[00:17:06] Got it.
[00:17:07] It's time to break down our holiday story.
[00:17:09] I'm sorry.
[00:17:10] Our holiday story.
[00:17:11] It's not a Christmas story.
[00:17:12] No.
[00:17:12] No, no, no.
[00:17:14] No nativity in this one, I'll tell you that much.
[00:17:16] Oh no.
[00:17:17] Five points on the board.
[00:17:18] Let's, uh, let's, uh, let's get to it.
[00:17:20] Let's start our hot takes.
[00:17:21] We're sure exactly how we felt about this movie.
[00:17:22] We do not hold back.
[00:17:25] What'd you think, Brian?
[00:17:26] I liked it.
[00:17:27] Uh, normally I like more funny zany stuff a little bit more.
[00:17:30] Uh, this one just really good storytelling.
[00:17:33] I thought, I think they did a good job bouncing between the timelines, complicated timelines.
[00:17:38] It was, if you weren't really paying attention, they weren't looking too different between the
[00:17:42] timelines.
[00:17:42] So it was hard to tell young from older and going back and forth.
[00:17:46] So that's always tough to do anyway.
[00:17:48] Uh, good job though.
[00:17:50] I thought it was really good.
[00:17:51] Um, I could have used a little more, giving out a participation medal over here.
[00:17:55] I could have used a little more on the festival.
[00:17:58] Uh, like what is it?
[00:18:01] What's the budget?
[00:18:02] Like all the details that were a big problem in this.
[00:18:04] We didn't really get much information on.
[00:18:06] So I was kind of confused about that.
[00:18:07] Um, and I was nervous.
[00:18:09] I know I was nervous for Nell and for Dave throughout.
[00:18:11] So they, I guess I was on the hook early on wondering I was invested is how I felt.
[00:18:17] So yeah, had a good time with this one.
[00:18:19] Uh, good job.
[00:18:20] Um, yeah, I really liked this one.
[00:18:23] In fact, um, I thought it was a fun little gimmick here.
[00:18:28] A little how I met your mother.
[00:18:30] If you will, I will.
[00:18:32] Um, and dadgum it, Nikki Delosha, Warren Christie.
[00:18:36] If you've ever doubted how much the leads matter to these movies, look no further than this movie
[00:18:42] because these two leads not only crush it.
[00:18:46] They make a movie which is pretty like unremarkable standard, uh, standard into a really, really quality Christmas movie.
[00:18:57] I really liked these two together.
[00:18:59] I thought their chemistry was off the hook.
[00:19:01] Um, the kiss at the end.
[00:19:03] Are you kidding me right now?
[00:19:03] Phenomenal kiss.
[00:19:05] Uh, love to see it.
[00:19:07] And the, the, the B couple, the present day couple of Joanna and Chris don't really care
[00:19:14] much about Chris, but Joanna was fantastic.
[00:19:16] She was fantastic.
[00:19:18] She was fantastic.
[00:19:19] Now she's fantastic.
[00:19:20] Then, uh, 10 years prior, uh, obviously she's trying to play younger there and she like
[00:19:26] says some things that are like, oh yeah, this is that, that storyline where she's younger.
[00:19:31] And so I thought they did a really good job of as, as much as you can and trying to make,
[00:19:37] uh, Warren Christie and Nikki Lodge look old, which is apparently an impossible task.
[00:19:43] Good luck.
[00:19:43] The way in which they differentiated between the two storylines.
[00:19:46] I thought overall they did a good job of it since you can't make them look old.
[00:19:50] We will do things in the past to remind you of where, when you're living and whatnot.
[00:19:55] And so overall thought this movie was really good, really solid.
[00:19:59] Uh, I'd watch it again.
[00:20:00] Dano.
[00:20:01] Yeah.
[00:20:02] Uh, Warren Christie is a mere months away from being 50 years old and that's just not fair.
[00:20:09] It's not fair to the rest of us out here.
[00:20:11] We should all be insulted.
[00:20:13] Uh, that's crazy.
[00:20:15] Um, this movie is competent.
[00:20:17] I like that shouldn't be high praise, but it is, I, none of it blew me away.
[00:20:24] I wasn't super duper invested, but what I wasn't was like head scratchingly puzzled as to why I was watching it.
[00:20:33] Nor did I have a bunch of weight.
[00:20:35] What's it is a movie with two really solid leads who have amazing chemistry and the best kiss of the season.
[00:20:42] It is a movie where they deal with tech in a way that Hallmark typically doesn't deal with tech, which is correctly.
[00:20:50] They utilize the differences between 2014 and 2024 to their advantage.
[00:20:56] They utilize the difference between this fate destiny character in this, you know, I have my own destiny in my own hands and I make my own luck character.
[00:21:04] They utilize their circumstances together very well.
[00:21:07] The way they tell the story is really nice.
[00:21:09] The, the daughter, you're right. The daughter, her boyfriend, I didn't care about that at all.
[00:21:15] I don't have much negative to say.
[00:21:17] It wasn't like, I think five year engagement.
[00:21:19] I have a lot more negative to say, but it's a better movie.
[00:21:22] I think, you know what Katie Finley five year Christmas party.
[00:21:26] That's in five year engagement. My bad.
[00:21:28] That's a different movie. It's coming out later.
[00:21:29] No, Jason Siegel's sorry to come out.
[00:21:32] Yeah, it's already come out. It's not very good.
[00:21:33] Uh, five year Christmas party is probably better because I think it's a bigger swing.
[00:21:38] This movie is just, it's probably my second favorite of the year because it, there's not a lot critically.
[00:21:44] I have an issue with in this movie.
[00:21:46] I, the, and what brand said is right.
[00:21:49] The two leads matter a lot and their chemistry is great from start to finish.
[00:21:54] You could watch these two do anything.
[00:21:55] And Nikki Deloach not having a dead relative.
[00:21:58] She has the ability to like play a lot more quirky and whimsical and she does a great job with it.
[00:22:02] I thought she did great.
[00:22:03] Dan, I heard you say the word big and I came running out of my hands.
[00:22:07] Oh my God.
[00:22:07] What's up?
[00:22:08] You mentioned?
[00:22:09] Yes.
[00:22:09] I did not.
[00:22:09] You said the word big.
[00:22:10] I just, it was a big, big swing.
[00:22:12] It's a big swing.
[00:22:13] Yes.
[00:22:14] Really?
[00:22:16] Wow.
[00:22:16] Cockroaches are little by definition.
[00:22:19] They're just, they're not, they're not.
[00:22:19] Even, even you would admit my hands are massive.
[00:22:22] You.
[00:22:23] For a cockroach.
[00:22:25] I've literally never thought about your hands until you brought them up.
[00:22:29] Yeah.
[00:22:30] But your diary begs to differ, sir.
[00:22:32] My diary.
[00:22:33] I read it.
[00:22:34] You think.
[00:22:35] I'm small.
[00:22:35] I snuck in.
[00:22:36] That I.
[00:22:37] Yeah.
[00:22:37] I know you have.
[00:22:39] I don't think it.
[00:22:39] I know it.
[00:22:40] Yes.
[00:22:40] And I write in there about the size of your hands.
[00:22:43] You said, and I quote on Monday's episode, after following week, here it comes.
[00:22:49] After you recorded the groomsman episode, you went and you wrote in your diary and you
[00:22:55] said, dear diary, my God.
[00:22:58] Oh my God.
[00:22:59] Were that cockroach's hands massive?
[00:23:02] It was massive.
[00:23:03] I didn't think it was possible.
[00:23:04] I didn't think it was possible.
[00:23:05] Is it bad for me to have feelings in this way for a cockroach?
[00:23:08] Is it bad for me to have feelings for a cockroach?
[00:23:09] Who can say?
[00:23:10] Who can say?
[00:23:11] More tomorrow.
[00:23:11] Also, by the way, TJ Maxx has a big sale this weekend and I can't wait.
[00:23:17] So.
[00:23:18] Yeah.
[00:23:19] Go game cocks.
[00:23:20] Go game cocks.
[00:23:21] You caught me.
[00:23:23] You caught me.
[00:23:24] Go game cockroaches.
[00:23:25] Am I right, guys?
[00:23:26] No.
[00:23:26] All right, cockroach out.
[00:23:28] Bye.
[00:23:28] Don't watch me leave.
[00:23:29] I know you liked him.
[00:23:30] It's hard not to.
[00:23:31] It's crazy.
[00:23:33] That is a weird.
[00:23:34] I didn't know you had a diary.
[00:23:36] Look at him.
[00:23:36] I didn't either, but you guys found it clearly.
[00:23:38] I like that we got the video.
[00:23:39] Yeah.
[00:23:40] The audio of your.
[00:23:41] Sounds.
[00:23:42] It sounds.
[00:23:43] Yeah.
[00:23:44] The audio in the background, we overlaid it, which is really good producing on your part.
[00:23:47] Talk about tech.
[00:23:48] Yeah.
[00:23:48] The tech there.
[00:23:49] Bam.
[00:23:50] Yeah.
[00:23:50] That sounds exactly like me.
[00:23:51] I'm just kidding.
[00:23:52] We got it.
[00:23:53] We got it.
[00:23:54] We got it.
[00:23:54] We got it.
[00:23:55] I love that you read your diary after you write it.
[00:23:59] That's right.
[00:23:59] I read it to record it.
[00:24:01] Yeah.
[00:24:01] In case people can't read and they want to read my diary.
[00:24:04] That's a lot of accessibility.
[00:24:05] Yes.
[00:24:05] We're covering all the bases.
[00:24:06] You sure are?
[00:24:07] Man.
[00:24:08] Let's get to all the feels.
[00:24:09] We're going to talk about what in this movie gave us feels.
[00:24:11] TJ Maxx.
[00:24:12] Big sale.
[00:24:12] Big sale.
[00:24:14] What gave you feels?
[00:24:15] Yeah.
[00:24:15] The overwhelming positivity from Dave was a real standout.
[00:24:20] This guy at every turn was seeing the positive, had something positive.
[00:24:25] It just beats you into submission, how positive he is.
[00:24:29] I thought it was great.
[00:24:30] It wasn't like a little thing here and there.
[00:24:32] I felt like that is who he is and that really came through in his character.
[00:24:36] So really standout job there.
[00:24:38] That's who you are, right, Bri?
[00:24:39] You get it.
[00:24:40] That's classic, Bri.
[00:24:41] It's so relatable for me.
[00:24:43] Classic.
[00:24:43] Yeah.
[00:24:44] I always think things are going to work out.
[00:24:46] Finally seeing it on screen.
[00:24:47] Yeah.
[00:24:47] The, seeing just the silver lining in every situation, always expecting things to just
[00:24:52] work out and be the way they're supposed to be and being okay with it.
[00:24:55] Yeah.
[00:24:55] That's me, man.
[00:24:56] Through and through.
[00:24:56] Classic.
[00:24:57] That is you.
[00:24:59] Obviously that kiss.
[00:25:01] Holy cow.
[00:25:01] Holy cow.
[00:25:02] That was crazy.
[00:25:04] But also, you know, one of you, I think it was you, Brian mentioned that you wanted to
[00:25:08] know more about like what the festival was.
[00:25:10] Yeah.
[00:25:10] Yeah.
[00:25:10] It turns out I don't care.
[00:25:12] Yeah.
[00:25:12] Yeah.
[00:25:12] Cause I saw it and I loved it.
[00:25:15] A wonderful festival with no real rhyme or reason.
[00:25:19] My perfect favorite dream type of Christmas festival.
[00:25:23] So I loved, I loved it.
[00:25:24] I loved when, when they started showing out that sucker, I was like, Oh boy.
[00:25:29] Oh boy.
[00:25:29] I'm going to go write my diary.
[00:25:31] It's crazy.
[00:25:32] It's crazy.
[00:25:33] Dano.
[00:25:33] Yeah.
[00:25:34] The kiss in this movie is fantastic.
[00:25:36] It's the best kiss of the Christmas season.
[00:25:37] No question about it.
[00:25:38] I think that is the front runner for the feels.
[00:25:40] No question about it.
[00:25:41] I'll say a quick break.
[00:25:42] We'll come back.
[00:25:42] We'll get to the way when the what the hallmark here on deck the hallmark.
[00:25:55] Welcome back, everybody.
[00:25:55] We're talking about our holiday story.
[00:25:59] Let's get to the way.
[00:26:01] What is where we're talking about?
[00:26:01] What in the swimming?
[00:26:02] What Brian?
[00:26:03] Yeah.
[00:26:04] Now it gets an email at one point and it's just a picture of her ex with his new,
[00:26:08] I don't know, girlfriend, fiance.
[00:26:10] What monster sends just a picture of your, your emails like a high res photo of your
[00:26:17] thinking of you.
[00:26:18] Here you go.
[00:26:18] Fiance.
[00:26:19] You're going to want to see this.
[00:26:20] Brutal.
[00:26:22] You're going to want to see this.
[00:26:23] Yeah.
[00:26:24] Brutal.
[00:26:24] Just subject line.
[00:26:26] You're going to want to see this.
[00:26:27] You just, you want to ease into that.
[00:26:29] You don't just do like, yeah, well, maybe it's just personality type, but I would assume
[00:26:33] you go, Hey, like I saw a picture.
[00:26:35] It's a little disconcerting.
[00:26:37] Yeah.
[00:26:37] Open.
[00:26:38] Have you heard anything about, about your brutal, like really a heartless, really a
[00:26:42] heartless email too.
[00:26:44] Yes.
[00:26:44] You're just trying to get like spreadsheets done and budgets made.
[00:26:48] You're like, wait a high res photo of my fiance with another woman.
[00:26:51] You hate to see it.
[00:26:52] Yeah.
[00:26:53] Um, and it seems like her phone has died before the, a Joe, the daughter.
[00:26:57] Uh, yeah.
[00:26:58] They make a joke about how she never charges her phone.
[00:27:00] Sure.
[00:27:01] So just always have a charger, right?
[00:27:03] Like always have a charger and a backup charger.
[00:27:05] I appreciate when I, the first time that her phone died, I was like, I have a huge problem
[00:27:10] with this.
[00:27:10] It's the morning for your phone to die.
[00:27:13] Yeah.
[00:27:13] You're just not an adult preparing.
[00:27:15] And, but then later in the movie, they do this thing like her dad who loses his phone.
[00:27:20] Sure.
[00:27:20] She forgets to charge her phone at night.
[00:27:22] And so I like bought that.
[00:27:25] Okay.
[00:27:25] I bought it as this is the, the genetics of that family are.
[00:27:29] Okay.
[00:27:30] I just can't, I can't, I can't either.
[00:27:32] Yeah.
[00:27:32] The idea that my phone wouldn't be on a hundred when I wake up is crazy.
[00:27:35] Yeah.
[00:27:35] Or I'm not, I'm waking up early.
[00:27:37] I'm trying to, if my phone's above 75% when I go to bed, I don't, I don't plug it.
[00:27:42] You don't think about it.
[00:27:43] I just, I'm just like, it's going to be good.
[00:27:46] Yeah.
[00:27:46] It happened last night actually.
[00:27:47] Okay.
[00:27:47] But in the morning, I mean, I just, I couldn't, I couldn't, I can't relate.
[00:27:51] I'm a crazy boy.
[00:27:51] I just got questions about the ride with the fruitcake van driver.
[00:27:56] Like the timeline of it.
[00:27:58] At first I was really confused.
[00:27:59] And then I think, I think they left at dawn and it just got, cause it was really dark
[00:28:02] when they were in the car and then so it just got brighter.
[00:28:04] So fine.
[00:28:05] No big deal.
[00:28:05] But it's a three hour drive.
[00:28:06] He was in three hours.
[00:28:08] It's a three.
[00:28:08] It's not a three.
[00:28:09] It's a three hour drive.
[00:28:10] Right.
[00:28:10] There's no way.
[00:28:11] That's right.
[00:28:12] So that weird, but also he's, he's wearing a baking, uh, uniform.
[00:28:17] We never know.
[00:28:17] He looks like he came straight from the kitchen, hopped in the van, taking all the fruitcake.
[00:28:21] Now that I've baked all these fruitcakes.
[00:28:22] Yeah.
[00:28:23] I'm going to just go ahead and transport it.
[00:28:25] Hire somebody.
[00:28:26] Yeah.
[00:28:26] Like maybe a delivery driver.
[00:28:27] Somebody burned out so early, man.
[00:28:30] Yeah.
[00:28:31] Hey everybody.
[00:28:32] Hey, there he is.
[00:28:33] It's Brett Debbie.
[00:28:34] Hey everybody.
[00:28:35] And for those of you who don't know, maybe just joining us, Brett Debbie is the son of
[00:28:39] little Debbie.
[00:28:39] Little Debbie.
[00:28:40] Yeah.
[00:28:40] And he grew up in a house.
[00:28:41] That's right.
[00:28:43] Completely constructed out of snack cakes.
[00:28:45] That's right.
[00:28:45] So like, you know, the walls were Swiss cake rolls.
[00:28:47] Um, you know, the, the banister was like a nutty bar.
[00:28:50] If I'm not mistaken.
[00:28:51] Is that right?
[00:28:52] Cosmic Browns.
[00:28:53] I got a song about it.
[00:28:55] Oh, he also does spoken word slash jazz slash music at bars, wherever they will let him
[00:29:01] play.
[00:29:01] Um, you've got one right now or is this a recording?
[00:29:04] I got one right now.
[00:29:05] Dan, can you give me some drums?
[00:29:06] I can hit you.
[00:29:10] Hey everybody.
[00:29:11] My name is Brett Debbie and I grew up and I was pretty miserable.
[00:29:17] Can you understand where I'm coming from?
[00:29:20] My life sucked.
[00:29:22] It was not fun.
[00:29:24] Oh, I didn't like growing up in the house of little Debbie's.
[00:29:30] You might think that it's salt gravy, but do other math.
[00:29:35] Do do do.
[00:29:35] There's no gravy inside.
[00:29:37] Do do.
[00:29:38] There's more, but I don't want to come.
[00:29:40] That's great.
[00:29:40] So we got t-shirts is what you're saying.
[00:29:43] Yeah.
[00:29:43] Merch.
[00:29:44] Doug.
[00:29:45] Uh, shirt and weekend.
[00:29:47] And that a portion of those proceeds go to what Brett?
[00:29:50] To me.
[00:29:51] Oh, my house.
[00:29:52] The foundation.
[00:29:53] Okay.
[00:29:53] Yeah.
[00:29:54] The foundation.
[00:29:55] Do the math.
[00:29:56] It's a foundation.
[00:29:57] Yeah.
[00:29:57] And that's made of Swiss cake rolls.
[00:29:59] Swiss cake rolls.
[00:30:00] God bless.
[00:30:01] Um, and just how long have we been?
[00:30:04] There's no gravy inside.
[00:30:05] No gravy inside.
[00:30:06] I mean, it's, it's a treat.
[00:30:07] It's a dessert.
[00:30:07] So what do you need the gravy for?
[00:30:09] Uh, just how long they've been running this festival there.
[00:30:12] They should not be getting, uh, shut down by the fire department at this point.
[00:30:16] Uh, get it together.
[00:30:17] You should have it all figured out and just what she's.
[00:30:20] Well, he doesn't, I, I, he doesn't ever have it all figured out, but the fire marshal thing
[00:30:24] was stupid.
[00:30:25] Yeah.
[00:30:27] It's just the day before.
[00:30:28] It's just, it's an outside festival.
[00:30:30] Yeah.
[00:30:31] What are you?
[00:30:31] Too many electrical, too many extension cords.
[00:30:33] What is it about the outdoor festival?
[00:30:36] I mean, there was a lot of lights.
[00:30:36] Yeah.
[00:30:37] So it was just, but there was throwing stuff out that I'm like, what's the problem?
[00:30:41] Yeah.
[00:30:42] How, why is, where's the budget going?
[00:30:44] I mean, it's like you said, it's an outdoor thing.
[00:30:46] What are they spending money on?
[00:30:47] Yes.
[00:30:47] Lights.
[00:30:48] Yeah.
[00:30:48] Or I didn't care about the breakdown of the budget.
[00:30:51] I did care about the fact that they've broken a fire code of some sort outside at this festival.
[00:30:59] And I would love to know what that fire code.
[00:31:01] Yeah.
[00:31:01] That they broke.
[00:31:02] Outdoors.
[00:31:03] Yeah.
[00:31:03] Which is crazy.
[00:31:04] Yeah.
[00:31:04] So yeah.
[00:31:05] Other than that, pretty good.
[00:31:07] Pretty good stuff.
[00:31:07] I mean, this movie starts off with a humdinger where she calls him up and says, Hey, I'm
[00:31:13] running late.
[00:31:13] He's like, I'm at your house.
[00:31:15] Uh, you said, you were creepy.
[00:31:17] I'm at your house.
[00:31:19] And then he says, you said that you left hours ago.
[00:31:24] Oh my gosh.
[00:31:26] She said I left.
[00:31:28] And then she just, she said, I'm on my way.
[00:31:30] Yeah.
[00:31:31] And then she just didn't leave.
[00:31:33] Yeah.
[00:31:34] That's tough.
[00:31:35] That's frustrating.
[00:31:35] Yeah.
[00:31:36] I feel like y'all should talk about that some more because you, I think there are people
[00:31:40] that do that.
[00:31:40] I can't imagine doing that myself.
[00:31:43] Not a million years.
[00:31:43] Where you say I'm leaving, but people are just like, they need to get somebody off their
[00:31:47] back or they don't want to lie and be like, I'm nowhere close to leaving.
[00:31:50] And so they're like, I'm walking out the door right now.
[00:31:52] And they don't leave for two hours.
[00:31:53] And that, that, that would frustrate me to no end.
[00:31:56] But, but to not update, to just be like, Hey, I think going to your parents, I think
[00:32:01] you have like a, like a, maybe a 10 minute buffer where I'm leaving the office.
[00:32:05] I'm going, I'm on my way.
[00:32:07] And then I'm like, Oh, I remember I got to go back and grab this thing.
[00:32:09] That's right.
[00:32:10] And then that turns into a thing.
[00:32:11] I think you got a 10 minute buffer there.
[00:32:14] But after that, you got to give an update.
[00:32:16] You got to give an update.
[00:32:18] That's a, that's a, that's out of hand.
[00:32:20] Um, her phone dies at one point, but this is why the only way that you know that it dies
[00:32:26] is because it goes, because it turns into R2 D2.
[00:32:30] Everybody else's phone doesn't have the battery to give you a bunch of noise.
[00:32:33] No, they just turn off.
[00:32:34] You would think that they wouldn't do that because that would take more battery.
[00:32:37] That's right.
[00:32:38] Um, but her phone dying does sound like, so that's fun.
[00:32:43] I like that.
[00:32:44] Um, there was a weird speaking of Star Wars, you know, Star Wars has transition effects.
[00:32:51] Yeah.
[00:32:51] Yep.
[00:32:51] Yep.
[00:32:52] Yep.
[00:32:52] This movie for some reason, anytime it went to a commercial break, had this weird whooshing
[00:32:57] effect where it would be like, um, light as if it was, uh, the deck, the hallmark best
[00:33:01] of episode.
[00:33:02] And it's trying to give you a transition to let you know that we're still in the same
[00:33:05] episode, but it's a different clip.
[00:33:07] Sure.
[00:33:08] Uh, that's what happened every time this movie went to break and I don't, I, I, I didn't
[00:33:12] dislike it.
[00:33:13] It just stood out to me.
[00:33:15] Um, yeah.
[00:33:17] And then him coming in and being like, this, this event is one giant fire cut.
[00:33:20] I just don't know.
[00:33:20] That was a wild one.
[00:33:21] I don't know what the hallmark could be anything.
[00:33:23] And then how did he, how did he come back around and be like, Oh, I saw it's, it's light
[00:33:29] something happens.
[00:33:30] Did she talk to the fire code guy and be like, Hey, just give him a pat.
[00:33:33] Like what?
[00:33:34] Turns out this is all outside.
[00:33:36] Yeah.
[00:33:36] Maybe the fire marshal thinks they're in a dome.
[00:33:38] Yeah.
[00:33:38] I don't know.
[00:33:39] I don't know what happened that made him be like, Oh, it's good to go now.
[00:33:42] Uh, aside from maybe some shady doings on her, her behalf.
[00:33:46] Maybe she was like, Hey, whatever you do, don't pass it.
[00:33:49] Yeah, sure.
[00:33:50] Oh, that's the only thing I can think of.
[00:33:51] Maybe she was like, don't pass it.
[00:33:53] Like there, there's always stuff.
[00:33:55] Yeah.
[00:33:55] There's always stuff that a fire person could come and be like, this is, I can't pass
[00:33:59] this.
[00:33:59] Um, if you look hard enough, some outlet somewhere.
[00:34:03] I just always assumed unless they were in the middle of a street that a fire code was
[00:34:07] for indoors.
[00:34:08] Yeah, I would think so.
[00:34:09] I mean, I think for outdoor events, you have to have some sort of clearance.
[00:34:13] Yeah, but it's so basic.
[00:34:14] I would think that's why I said, yes, I agree.
[00:34:17] I think that must be like, she must've done something.
[00:34:20] Yeah.
[00:34:20] She must've been like, Hey, whatever you do, don't pass it.
[00:34:22] Cause this is a report.
[00:34:23] Don't I don't know.
[00:34:24] Yeah.
[00:34:24] Uh, Dan.
[00:34:25] Yeah.
[00:34:25] The, the phone turning off and the fire code are the two big ones, but I do have to talk
[00:34:30] about this guy.
[00:34:31] Who's the train conductor a little bit.
[00:34:33] He has been on the exact same train running the exact same route, which I guess goes from
[00:34:41] one town to another for over 10 years.
[00:34:46] Good union job.
[00:34:46] And he looks aside from a little bit of gray.
[00:34:50] Someone has sprayed in his beard looks the exact same.
[00:34:54] Uh, and also miss reads ice on train tracks.
[00:34:59] Uh, they, they go to the, the, in the movie he comes out.
[00:35:04] He's like, there's ice on the tracks.
[00:35:05] It's going to be 30, 45 minutes.
[00:35:07] Now, if you've ever been on a train that where the, the person in charge of the person
[00:35:12] who charges the train, or you've been on a plane on a tarmac and the pilot tells you it's
[00:35:16] going to be 15 minutes.
[00:35:17] The first thing you do is double that.
[00:35:19] Right.
[00:35:19] You don't ever like, if he says 15 minutes or so, you're like, it's a 30, probably an
[00:35:25] hour.
[00:35:25] If, if you hear somebody on the train say, we got something in the tracks, it's going
[00:35:29] to be 30 minutes.
[00:35:30] Double it.
[00:35:31] Yeah.
[00:35:32] This guy comes over and says, we got ice on the tracks.
[00:35:35] Ice.
[00:35:36] It's 30 to 45 minutes.
[00:35:38] Two seconds later, he's like JK.
[00:35:40] Ha ha.
[00:35:41] Prank TV.
[00:35:42] We're moving.
[00:35:43] He must've gotten clearance from the fire marshal.
[00:35:46] Yeah, exactly.
[00:35:46] Fire marshal changed his mind.
[00:35:47] Shut him down.
[00:35:48] We got the ice melt out there out of nowhere.
[00:35:50] Just showed up.
[00:35:52] I couldn't, that scene was the most unbelievable scene of this movie is 30 to 45 minutes.
[00:35:57] I'm going to pop off and get a fruitcake for you.
[00:36:00] We're good to go.
[00:36:01] JK about that ice.
[00:36:02] It wasn't ice.
[00:36:03] It was a mirage.
[00:36:04] It was a glare.
[00:36:05] The sun was shining.
[00:36:06] Yeah.
[00:36:06] Just water.
[00:36:08] What?
[00:36:09] That was, that one didn't, didn't clear it for me.
[00:36:11] The sunset is harsh during the winter.
[00:36:13] It can reflect a harsh line to 85 corridor.
[00:36:17] Um, the, uh, I will say this.
[00:36:20] The other big way for me is very, very like fundamental.
[00:36:24] The second time you run into this person, you exchange phone numbers.
[00:36:28] Like they do a thing where the second time something happens where he goes, I've got my, my, my daughter's texting me SOS.
[00:36:37] They both have their phones.
[00:36:38] Yeah.
[00:36:40] There is no world where they don't exchange phone numbers as soon as they meet there.
[00:36:44] They have a connection.
[00:36:45] The first time the second, the third time that was fun where he's like, I don't have my phone.
[00:36:48] And she gives him the number and he like, here's all these other numbers.
[00:36:51] That was a fun time.
[00:36:52] Yeah.
[00:36:53] And then she drops her phone.
[00:36:54] It's my second time.
[00:36:56] The second time that you see this person that you really had a connection with and, and something happened with the train, blah, blah, blah.
[00:37:02] You're like, before you move any, you're like, let's get, let's exchange numbers right now.
[00:37:05] That was the one that I was like, I don't know.
[00:37:07] And then lastly, and this is just me cause I'm an auditory person, not visual.
[00:37:11] There are two people playing chess sitting next to each other.
[00:37:15] And I, for the life of me, it would take me and they're, so they're playing on the side of the chess board.
[00:37:22] So it was like, Brian, if you and I would put, we're playing chess.
[00:37:25] And so I had the board, the board is this way.
[00:37:28] So like, you know, my pieces are here and your pieces are there.
[00:37:32] I would be so disoriented trying to figure out where to go and they are playing like speed chess.
[00:37:38] And I was one really impressed, but two, I've never seen it.
[00:37:41] I've never seen two people sit shoulder to shoulder and play chess before.
[00:37:45] Don't even know how you accomplish it.
[00:37:47] So, you know, we broke my brain.
[00:37:50] Uh, let's get to the, what the hallmark it is, uh, where we talk about any questions that we still have that we'd like some answers to Brian.
[00:37:57] Yeah.
[00:37:57] My thing was with the seats on the train are those are signed seats.
[00:38:02] Do you know?
[00:38:02] Like the first time he comes in, he's like, Hey, is this seat taken?
[00:38:05] She goes, no, it's not taken.
[00:38:06] So you can just sit anywhere.
[00:38:07] Yeah.
[00:38:08] I thought they were assigned.
[00:38:10] It's a train.
[00:38:11] Really?
[00:38:12] You just pop in there.
[00:38:12] I've never been on a train.
[00:38:13] I think when you have like an overnight situation, your room, like if you buy a room on the train.
[00:38:18] Yes.
[00:38:19] A room.
[00:38:19] Yes.
[00:38:19] Hello, Aaron.
[00:38:20] It depends.
[00:38:21] I have been on a train where it was only a couple hour train ride, but I did have an assigned seat.
[00:38:25] Okay.
[00:38:26] So it depends on like, can you get up and move around though?
[00:38:28] Like if you want to just go, I feel like it would be Lucy.
[00:38:31] This is more of like almost a commuter train.
[00:38:34] Like they were both.
[00:38:35] Yeah.
[00:38:36] It just struck me as like a, Hey, just sit down.
[00:38:38] Yeah.
[00:38:38] Yeah.
[00:38:39] I've like booked a trip ahead of time.
[00:38:41] And when I got my ticket, it said, this is, I mean, if it's a three hour drive between
[00:38:45] these two cities, the train ride can't be that right.
[00:38:48] No, it's gotta be a lot faster than that.
[00:38:49] So like, it's a commuter train.
[00:38:51] This isn't a train you take when you're going on vacation.
[00:38:53] I don't think this is like an overnight boy.
[00:38:55] Yeah.
[00:38:56] Yeah.
[00:38:56] For me, it was just like sit wherever you want.
[00:38:58] Okay.
[00:38:58] That's what it seems like.
[00:38:59] It's seemed that way.
[00:39:00] So I was just really curious about the seating arrangement there.
[00:39:02] It's kind of my nightmare.
[00:39:04] Yeah.
[00:39:04] Kind of nervous about that.
[00:39:06] But can you believe we used to just go to the movie theaters without a sign?
[00:39:08] Sit wherever you want.
[00:39:09] Oh, wow.
[00:39:10] Like, oh yeah, I was, I've never been more concerned, had more anxiety about anything.
[00:39:15] Oh, I was going to be an hour early.
[00:39:17] I was, it was a mess.
[00:39:18] I don't have anxiety about anything, but a new movie is coming out.
[00:39:21] It's my whole evening to go to the movies.
[00:39:23] Yeah.
[00:39:23] I'm going to get there early.
[00:39:24] It's a whole thing.
[00:39:25] It's one of the best advancements with this.
[00:39:27] Yeah.
[00:39:27] Yeah.
[00:39:28] Show up whenever you want.
[00:39:30] Yeah.
[00:39:30] Amazing.
[00:39:31] Um, the, uh, Christmas sweater convention, uh, that's has now been going on for 10 years.
[00:39:37] First of all, how do we get to have the Greenville?
[00:39:39] There's a lot of great Christmas events in Greenville, South Carolina.
[00:39:41] Uh, we have so many great Christmas events downtown that happen.
[00:39:45] We got an ice skating rink, all this good stuff.
[00:39:47] Uh, as far as I know, we don't have a Christmas, an ugly Christmas sweater convention.
[00:39:50] I would like to formally request that to Knox Knox.
[00:39:54] I know you're a fan of myself.
[00:39:55] Shout out.
[00:39:56] Is this in lieu of the statue or?
[00:39:57] Let's do that.
[00:39:58] Separate.
[00:39:59] Separate.
[00:40:00] I met the statue.
[00:40:01] It's just that I never heard back.
[00:40:03] And so, despite my many attempts to email Knox white about a, uh, statue, uh, for someone
[00:40:10] who likes Christmas, I never got a response back.
[00:40:13] I know it was election season for him and he was one of the least racist statues downtown.
[00:40:18] That's exactly right.
[00:40:19] In the pro call.
[00:40:20] That's exactly right.
[00:40:21] Um, but apparently that's not going to happen.
[00:40:23] So may I request a, uh, ugly Christmas sweater convention.
[00:40:27] I think it's sponsored by the city of green, sponsored by the city of greenville.
[00:40:31] Um, and you can even say sponsored by the brain and gray statue fund.
[00:40:36] Like, whatever you want to say.
[00:40:38] I'm sure.
[00:40:39] All the money.
[00:40:39] I'm sure.
[00:40:40] Yes.
[00:40:40] So I would love, I would love to see that happen.
[00:40:42] But the train also was sponsored by like, it seemed like the train was almost exclusively
[00:40:49] for convention goers, except for them.
[00:40:53] Um, and except for Joey, Joanna.
[00:40:56] What, uh, just this, it seems like a very popular event.
[00:41:01] And, uh, I would just love to know more, more about like, what do they do at these, at the
[00:41:05] event?
[00:41:05] Cause it's, it seems like they're already together.
[00:41:07] It does seem like they're together.
[00:41:08] I thought maybe the event was happening on the car.
[00:41:11] Yeah.
[00:41:12] Um, so I don't know a lot of questions about this convention.
[00:41:15] They just kind of said, I don't, I I'm starting to think that they didn't put enough thought
[00:41:18] into it, which is something that I would put a lot of thought into it.
[00:41:20] So call me search your email.
[00:41:24] Oh, you just email me back.
[00:41:25] Just email me back.
[00:41:26] You do have my email from the three, five, 10 times I emailed you about this.
[00:41:30] Actually, uh, yeah, I want to know more about the, the biological mom, uh, Warren Christie's
[00:41:36] ex wife.
[00:41:38] Uh, they show her early in the movie and it seems like they have a really good relationship,
[00:41:41] but it seems as though this daughter is spending the entire, the entire Christmas tradition
[00:41:47] portion of the holidays with her dad.
[00:41:50] And so like, want to know what that's about?
[00:41:53] Is she still going to go hang out with her mom?
[00:41:54] Some is that relationship estranged?
[00:41:56] Is it a good relationship?
[00:41:57] I felt like she just kind of disappeared there.
[00:42:00] And I would, would like that more broken family deets.
[00:42:04] Yes, please.
[00:42:05] No, me all the details.
[00:42:07] Tell me everything about your messy, messy family.
[00:42:10] That's right.
[00:42:11] All right, Dan.
[00:42:12] Yeah.
[00:42:14] We're having fun.
[00:42:15] All right, guys.

[00:42:17] We got the results.
