Polar Opposites (Hallmark Channel - 2025)

Watch on Philo! - Philo.tv/DTH

The movie kicks off with a ton of penguins, including one named Juan who has some new moves. This guy named Ian is out there observing the penguins when he accidentally drops his phone, causing the earth to shake.

Cut to Emma, who is waiting for a match she met on an app. He doesn’t show up. Instead, her dad, Ian, calls and tells her there’s a big problem and that he’s in great danger. However, the phone call keeps breaking up. She tries to reach him again but can’t, so she decides to tag along with a research team heading to Antarctica.

Emma hops on a plane to get to a ship bound for Antarctica. The only problem? She doesn’t have a permit to enter Antarctica, which is apparently required by law. She decides her best course of action is to steal a briefcase from the research team. She’s stopped by a guy named Andy, who’s like, Umm, who are you? Emma lies and says, I have the magnetometer. Andy buys it and says, Well then, we need to get you on board!

Emma sneaks into the janitor’s room, thinking it’ll be fine, but after realizing it’s a 10-day journey, she decides to grab some food while avoiding the woman who told her she couldn’t come. Andy catches her and takes her to the research room to assemble the magnetometer. Realizing she can’t keep up the lie, she finally tells him the truth. Andy feels uneasy about not reporting her—after all, she’s breaking the law—but she pleads, It’s for my dad!

Andy reluctantly agrees to let her stay, even offering her his room (all above board). They bond over card games and other activities, and Emma even sketches Andy while he sleeps. Things are going smoothly until Emma learns the crew on land hasn’t been able to find her dad.

She decides to steal a crew uniform, thinking it’ll make things easier. Her plan works until Ingrid, the woman from the beginning, recognizes Emma’s voice and her distinctive duck ringtone. Ingrid chases her all over the ship, and Emma ends up hiding in a closet. When the ship hits some rough seas, she gets locked inside the closet.

Luckily, Emma manages to make a call over the loudspeaker, and Andy comes to her rescue. They hug for a long time, exchanging meaningful looks.

The ship finally reaches Antarctica, and Emma sneaks onto an expedition with some of the cruisers. She makes it to the base and hops on a snowmobile to find her dad. When she reaches his location, it turns out he was just surfing.

Her dad explains that he’s not the one in danger—a penguin is. He shows them a penguin stuck on a chunk of ice that broke off. He’s tethered the ice chunk but can’t pull it in without tipping over. Fortunately, Andy is an engineer and agrees to help. They come up with a plan, but the drill doesn’t connect to the other iceberg.

Meanwhile, Ingrid is searching for Andy. When she can’t find him, she goes into his room, discovers the stolen crew uniform, and realizes Andy has been hiding Emma.

While this is happening, Andy and Emma take a cold plunge in the icy water. Ingrid spots them with binoculars and is furious.

Back on the ship, Andy and Emma warm up (almost kissing), then return to work with a special drill bit. They eventually learn Emma’s dad is in trouble—a tether broke and pulled him under. He’s okay but insists they get back to saving the penguin.

Just as they’re about to finish the rescue, Ingrid shows up. After an impassioned speech about the importance of penguins, she lets them continue.

They successfully drill and pull the ice chunk back to shore, reuniting the penguins. Emma and Andy hug and nearly kiss again, but they’re interrupted by a phone call. Finally, Andy confesses his feelings, and Emma pulls him in for a kiss.

Four months later, Emma is sketching penguins in Antarctica, living her best life.

[00:00:00] Hi, I'm Brandon. I love Hallmark Travel Movies. What was that? I'm Brian. I like Hallmark Winter Getaway Movies. I'm Dan and that penguin's dead. You've seen Orcas lately? And this is the Deck The Hallmark Podcast. Deck The Hallmark, it's this podcast. And friends host this podcast.

[00:00:30] We hope you like this jolly podcast. Wow. Oh boy. Hi everybody. What a time to be alive. Happy Tuesday. That's right. We're talking Polar Opposites. That snow that came in, Brian. I know. How do we make it? You know, Dan and I talked about it yesterday with Alonzo, obviously. Of course you did. But I'm happy that you're here. I always worry about you when it comes to the snow. That's right.

[00:00:59] I know that you get scared and all that stuff. It's intimidating. I'm happy to see that you survived. How was the snow for you? It was good. I was surprised that it kept coming down. We got a good amount, I would say. So I looked at it and then I said, that's nice. And then I looked again. I was like, oh, it's still coming down, eh? Yeah. I was kind of like, all right, we saw it. That's good. I think the thing that I was surprised by with it, and Dan, you were in a meeting for the first bit of it. Yes, that's right.

[00:01:25] I was surprised because it was so cold, I was surprised at how long it took for it to start sticking. I thought it was going to stick earlier and it didn't. So that was a big surprise for me. We got hardly any snow. It was a little bit of a disappointment, but I will say for you, first time down here, can you imagine that much snow and the city of Boston not going to school? No, no, no, no. That is, you wake up, that's a regular day.

[00:01:51] I mean, you wake up, and the funny part is seeing it going away because in up north, it would snow and it's just white for months. Like you don't see the ground again. And then it's gone. Down here, it's just, it's sort of, oh, there's still grass. Saturday, it's just so loud. It's so loud as everything's melting. As it's melting, it's just, it sounds like a thunderstorm outside. It's crazy. You're like, oh man, is it 40 degrees already? Just like that, huh? Getting after it. I bet it was a good time.

[00:02:18] And it was good to go to Antarctica, which gave a similar vibe to what we had. Very similar, yeah. We get it. A lot of people reached out. They were concerned about us. We did okay, so thank you. And a lot of people talked about how I got snow on my birthday, and they were very excited for me, which was very nice. A lot of people. A lot of people were sending you a list. Yeah, that's right. I did make a list of everybody who didn't wish me happy birthday.

[00:02:43] And so, I feel like I was covered in the chat and the gift of snow. What'd you do? Like, just love the post? No, I think I said, that's an interesting point. I think I said happy birthday, Bran, this snows for me too, or something along those lines. What did you say? I said something like I was under the umbrella. I had to look at the comments. I feel like I was under the umbrella. Did you say it in our chat? I think it was in the chat.

[00:03:09] Aaron said, at 10.56am by the way, so a few hours into my birthday, Aaron says happy birthday, Bran. Yeah. Dan says nah. Okay. Brian says, I don't see anything. That was regarding the snow. Regarding the snow. Yes, go ahead, Aaron. Outside of our group chat, I texted you at 8.33 in the morning. That's true. That's too early. That's too early. So I wish you a huggered twice before. Thank you. When did I respond?

[00:03:39] Did I respond? Okay. Brian said, get that car off the road. Brian said, okay, I see a few flakes. Yep. I guess that's enough evidence to wish Bran the happiest of birthdays. We did it. That was a good one. That was a good lead up. Nice job. Thanks. So thanks for you. Thank you. Yeah, absolutely. I'll cross you off the list. I missed that. Thank you. Get me off that list. I already did send out the ramifications. Oh, the glitter bomb.

[00:04:08] The glitter bomb is coming. Don't open that up. The ramifications. You just said it's enough evidence to wish you a happy birthday. That's true. He didn't actually wish you a happy birthday. That's a good point. You said that's enough evidence to wish you a happy birthday. Yeah. But you didn't actually say happy birthday, Bran. All right. Now we're getting a little too. Yeah. He already shook my hand though. So I feel like we're moving past this. It's like you make a big mistake and then somebody sends a ram straight to your house. Just going right in your house. Yeah. Ram.

[00:04:37] It's like a vacation. You go on a vacation. You pay for it. Oh, ramification. We're getting there. We're just work shopping. We're work shopping it. That's okay. And then we can send it to somebody in the double decker group so that they could do it in the future. Yeah, yeah, yeah. 100%. Yes. We're really excited to dive into today's movie. Obviously a rider. You could watch it on Philo file activity. You can watch our episode as well, but also follow us on the social medias at deck.

[00:05:05] The Hallmark in almost everywhere except for X. If you're still on X and you want to find us, you can just find us. That's one way that you could do it and keep up to date for all the stuff we're doing because we're doing all sorts of stuff. Decky's is in a mere days. Decky's is this week. That's right. I can't believe that. If you're not coming to Greville, you'll be able to watch it live on the internet machines. That link will be deckthehallmark.com slash deckys. That will switch over a day of from the ticketing to the- Very cool.

[00:05:34] You got your outfit? Mm-hmm. In the mail? It's coming in the mail. In the post? It's in the post. Who made it? I believe we went with Amazon. We went to Amazon again this year. Unfortunately. You got to get away from the big boxes. Yeah, but the problem is if anybody else can do a tux for $72, then I'm listening. And get it there within days because we'll wait until the last minute. We always wait until the last minute. What color are you going with? It's a white with black lapel. White with black lapel. I think a black pant. Ooh. Like a James Bond kind of situation. That's going to be nice.

[00:06:04] That's going to be nice. I'm hoping to get in the running for the next James Bond. Next James Bond. This is my entry. I'll put in good words. Thanks, man. Awesome. You're a different color. What are you doing? I'm pink. We're not even close to being in the same realm of matching. We may even take a picture together. We never tried a match. No. Except the years that we did match. No, the year that we... The first year, I think, you and Panda and myself all did matching styles different colors. Yeah. So we did like blue, green, red. We've done that.

[00:06:34] Blue, green, red. Yes. We've done that before. Yes. This year, though, all willy-nilly. We'll see how it goes. Pink, full pink, top and bottom? Top and bottom, pink. Ooh, look at you. White turtleneck. White turtleneck. Very nice. It's a bold choice. So I'm going to have red and green on. I'm going to be the most Christmas-y of all of us. You sure are. And, you know, just goes to show you. We'll have red carpet, though. Christmas spirit over there. So for those of you that are coming, come early and come ready for a fun night. That's right. 9 p.m. Eastern time.

[00:07:02] Champagne's included, which is crazy to even think about. Yeah. I don't know if all of it's included, but, you know, he's the first one. No. 9 p.m. Eastern. For those of you that are joining us, I guess it matters here as well. 9 p.m. Eastern in person and on the video. That's right. It's going to be live here and everywhere. That's right. Let's talk polar opposites, shall we? Originally premiered on January 11th, 2025. Premier. And it went a little so. Premier. Premier. Premier. January 11th, 2025.

[00:07:32] And it went a little something like this. The movie kicks off with just a ton of penguins. Pantloads of penguins. Including one. You want to have a party. Yeah. For penguins. Including one penguin named Juan, who has some new moves. You go, Juan. This guy named Ian is out there observing the penguins when he accidentally drops his phone, causing, best I can figure, the earth to shake.

[00:08:01] Cut to Emma, who is waiting for her match to show up that she met on the app. He does not show up. Instead, her dad, Ian, calls her and says, big problem, great danger. But the rest of the call, she didn't get it. So, she keeps trying to call back. No answer. She decides the best course of action here is to tag along with a research team that is heading to Antarctica. Luckily for her, there's one leaving tomorrow.

[00:08:30] So, all she has to do is she has to hop on a plane to get her to the ship that is leaving from, I think, like San Juan, I believe is what they said or something. She's got to get somewhere to go to somewhere else. The only problem is she doesn't have a permit to enter Antarctica, which I didn't even know was a thing, but apparently it's required by law. So, she decides that her best course of action is to steal a briefcase from the research team and act like she's a part of that team.

[00:08:59] She's stopped by a guy named Andy who's like, who are you? Emma lies and said, I have the magnetometer, and he buys it. And it's like, great, we needed one of those. Come on board. And that's it. No problem here. Emma sneaks into the janitor's room thinking that it's going to be fine. She'll be in Antarctica in what, a couple hours? No, 10 days. 10 day journey. So, she's going to need to grab some food while also avoiding the woman who told her that she couldn't get on board to begin with.

[00:09:28] Andy catches her and is like, I've been looking for you. We need you to assemble the magnetometer. Realizing that she can't keep up this lie. It's got to be magnetometer. Why isn't it magnetometer? Magnetometer. No, I think you're right. I just want it to be a magnetometer. Yeah, well, I don't know what to say. It matters. It matters. It matters. It matters. Yes. Realizing that she can't keep up this lie, she finally tells him the truth.

[00:09:54] Andy feels uneasy about not reporting her, seeing as how the law, but also, you know, she's pretty. And so it's like, what do we do? I don't know. And she says, looking at him with her puppy dog eyes, my dad, it's for my dad. And so he's like, okay, fine. So he reluctantly agrees to let her stay, even offering her his room. It's all above board though. Don't worry, everybody. No shady doings here. What?

[00:10:24] The no shady doings. That's what we all heard. Definitely what you said. Oh, interesting. I'll have to listen back. They bond over card games and other activities and Emma even sketches Andy while he sleeps. Things are going smoothly until Emma learns that the crew on land hasn't been able to find her dad. She decides to steal a crew uniform thinking it'll make things easier for her to, you know, roam about the cabin.

[00:10:52] Her plan works until Ingrid, the woman from the beginning, recognizes Emma's voice and her duck ringtone. That's right. She has a duck ringtone. Ingrid chases her all over the ship, but Emma ends up hiding in a closet. When the ship hits some rough seas, she gets locked in the closet. She's stuck in the closet. Luckily, Emma manages to make a call over the loudspeaker and Andy comes to her rescue.

[00:11:18] They hug for a really long time and they exchange lots of gazes at each other, not glazes. They look at each other. That's what I'm trying to say. Glances and gazes and he got caught in between folks. Dang it. Glaze that donut right up. Oh, yes, please. Glaze that word donut. He did it. The ship finally reaches Antarctica and Emma sneaks onto an expedition team. So she's able to get off the ship. That was a rough edit. Yes. It is. It's unraveling quickly.

[00:11:48] She makes it to the base and shady about the second and hops onto a snowmobile to find her dad. When she reaches his location, it turns out, I guess he was surfing. Yeah. Yeah. So her dad explains that he's not the one in danger. Rather, the penguin is. Juan. He shows them the penguin that it's stuck on a chunk of ice that broke off.

[00:12:16] He's tethered the ice chunk, but he can't pull it without tip the iceberg tipping over. So that's tough. Fortunately, though, Andy's an engineer and agrees to help. They come up with a plan, but then they try the plan. It doesn't work. The drill that they have is not good enough for iceberg. Meanwhile, Ingrid is searching for Andy.

[00:12:38] When she can't find him, she goes to his room and discovers the stolen crew uniform and realizes that Andy has been hiding Emma. While this is happening, Andy and Emma take a cold plunge in icy water because they had the time to do so. Ingrid spots them with binoculars and is furious. Back on ship, Andy and Emma warm up with an almost kiss.

[00:13:05] Then they return to work with a special drill bit that will allow them to drill into the ice cube and then the ice will still ice. You know, so it's good. They eventually learn Emma's dad is in trouble for real this time. A tether broke and pulled him down and he got hurt and he can't get up. He insists that he's fine and you got to get back to saving the penguins, save the penguins, save the world.

[00:13:33] Just as they're about to finish the rescue, Ingrid shows up after an impassioned speech about the importance of penguins. She lets them go. They successfully drill and pull the ice chunk back to shore, reuniting the penguins. We love to see that Emma and Andy hug and they nearly kiss again, but they're interrupted by a phone call.

[00:14:01] Finally, Andy confesses his feelings and Emma pulls him in for a kiss. Yes, four months later, Emma is sketching penguins and Antarctica for I guess the rest of her life. And Andy is there as well and they're happy. And that my friends was Polar Opposites. Extended cut. Justice for Lola, who's the actual penguin on the iceberg.

[00:14:31] Oh, Juan is waiting. Juan's waiting in the wings. Yes. Yeah. He's hoping he's not one and done. Juan, Juan. Juan, Juan, Juan. Let's take a quick break. We'll come back. We'll break this movie down with four segments here on Deck the Hallmark. Come back, everybody. We're talking about Polar Opposites. It's time to break this down.

[00:15:00] We're going to share our hot take. We share exactly how we felt about this episode, this movie, and we don't hold back. And I'll start with you, Brian. Brian, what do you think about Polar Opposites? Our second 2025 movie. Yeah. I forget what I rated this one, but I just predicted I was going to rate this one. Just overall, just eh for me, unfortunately. The fish, the human fish, best part of this movie, as we probably all predict. Yeah.

[00:15:29] Marky in there, Terasuk, I believe is pronounced Terasuk. Andy, really good too. I really like him. I realized that more of this movie went on. You gave this one five. Five tapas. No, I didn't. I did? You five spotted it. Oh my word. Yeah. That's ridiculous. That's ridiculous. I should be not allowed to do this. Yeah, I've been saying that for literal years. That is brutal. Yeah, that's tough. Five. I went hard on that one.

[00:15:53] They had a chance here to create, to make the Apollo 13 of the Southern Hemisphere in this submersible drill bit situation and they just blew right by it. Like, it was barely a part of the movie. That's what I was interested in and I wanted to see. Everything on the ship, I did not like at all. It stressed me out. All the, like, hiding around corners, it just, that stresses me out. I'm hiding around corners. Yeah, they were chasing each other around the whole time. You're just in these narrow hallways.

[00:16:23] I didn't like it at all. So, it was great. A great bit, Brian, would be to next time we have to travel or something and say, hey, it looks like they messed up our tickets, but we got on anyway. We just don't tell anybody that you're here. Just do that to Bri just to see how he reacts. Yeah. See how uncomfortable he gets. It's a fun bit. Yeah, that'll be a lot of fun. Yeah. Look forward to that. Yeah. I can tell. It's, so when we got to Antarctica, that was more fun for me. I really, the best part about this, it's really great that we're sending expeditions

[00:16:52] to research penguins because we don't know hardly anything about penguins. No, we just don't know anything about penguins. Like, where do they live? Where do they eat? Brian doesn't know how to say penguin. Penguins. What did I say? Penguins. Penguin. Penguin. Yeah. Penguin. Penguin. Uh-huh. You think those are the two words of the same thing? You're saying the same thing. That's hysterical. I'm hearing the exact same thing. Penguin. My youngest calls on penguin. It pangs me to say you're saying penguin wrong. Okay. Oh, your emphasis on the A.

[00:17:20] So yeah, I don't think, I think we could have done more, a little better here is all. And so I was just sort of like, ah, this was just okay. I'm back, baby. I had a great time with this movie. I gave it four tapas and a cream and I'm glad I did. This, my biggest fear is that I would have creamed last week's movie and then had to live with myself, but I can live with this. Uh, this is a good time. Was I surprised by how much time they spent on the cruise ship?

[00:17:49] I sure was. Uh, but I, the, the, the good news here is, uh, the fish, uh, and Andy were wonderful together. I, I really enjoyed those two and I enjoyed their chemistry. And, um, I, weirdly enough, I kind of, once they got to Antarctica, I was kind of like, let's get back on the ship and have more hydrants. That's the polar opposite. Polar opposites. Hello. Look at us. We're the movie.

[00:18:16] Um, the, I, I, I, I think the problem with was when they, when they got to the island, it was, let's try this. That's not going to work. Let's polar plunge where they're in a hurry, but let's do the polar plunge and then let's try it with a bigger bit. And that was it. And so I think my problem with it was I had more fun when they were just doing hijinks

[00:18:43] and, uh, kind of trying to figure out like, is this chemistry real type thing? And so I enjoyed that. I enjoy them together. This movie is ridiculous. I had a great time. Um, it's also, uh, a, like should be studied for what not to do in regards to what do you do when you want to make a movie, but you don't have enough money to make the movie and make it look good.

[00:19:09] It should be studied because they had big aspirations for, uh, this movie, for this movie. My, my parations were in the middle. They like this. They have like, Hey, we are going to do a movie where there's an iceberg and there's pink penguins. Yes. Penguins. Uh, you gotta, I gotta slide it. Yeah. Penguins. Penguins.

[00:19:33] Um, there's tethers, there's drills and they didn't, they couldn't do, they couldn't do all of it. And, but they tried to, and that, uh, and you could see it. I think that's the unfortunate thing is that, um, every, everything that wasn't real, boy, howdy, could you tell? And that's, uh, do I find it charming? You betcha. Um, but is it, is it good? Of course not.

[00:20:01] Uh, but that doesn't bother me for top isn't a cream. Glad I did it, Dan. Yeah. I mean, listen, it's better than the Irish movie last week. Yeah. It's not good. It's not a good movie, but if I'm siding with one of you two, I probably side with brand, even though I didn't like the movie because early on in this movie, look, of course, the

[00:20:24] idea that science engineers who are building this machine would not notice an extra person with no uniform that knows nothing getting aboard this ship is crazy. The idea that these two very attractive people are sharing that space for 10 days, platonically also kind of crazy. But if you get over that, these are two very attractive people who are having fun and they're

[00:20:52] hijinks and Rhian and fish does physical comedy really well. Her hiding on the boat, that stuff for what it was, was working just fine. But the problem is, is they get to Antarctica like an under half the amount of time in the movie. And then when we get to Antarctica, the issue is, is they did shoot this movie in Patagonia. And so you have some great shots, but if you have some actually great shots on location, you know what looks real bad? Any CGI you do of the same location.

[00:21:20] It looks terrible. It would have been better. And I think brand new degree is if they shot this in Canada and did all of the Antarctica in post, because what happens is, is you see the real thing and how beautiful it is. And then when they don't show you the real thing, it is like somebody's working on Microsoft paint. And that is unfortunate. And on top of that, to brand's point, the latter half of this movie is by and large, what if we tried a different drill? That's basically the last 30 minutes of this movie.

[00:21:49] Have we tried this drill? Do you think this drill would do what the last one did, but better? That is basically the last 30 minutes of this movie. It slows to an absolute halt and it is, it bores you to tears. I love Rhiannon fish stowing away on a boat and just being silly that here for, I think my, my opinions on Rhiannon fish have been documented on this program, but that is not what this movie is. Unfortunately.

[00:22:18] And it is better than the Irish movie. It is not good. There you have it. Uh, let's get to all the fields where we talk about, uh, when this movie gave us fields, Brian. Yeah. The most exciting part was that submersible being underwater trying to get an iceberg for me. I wanted, I wanted to nerd out with Andy in the shop. Like I wanted them to dump out a box, but this is what we have and build the submersible. He was just doing that. Yeah. I didn't get any of that completely. It was ridiculous.

[00:22:45] And so after this, I did watch an Apollo 13 documentary to sort of like quench my thirst. Can I tell you what happened? How confused I was through the roof by the submersible is when she drew the submersible. Yeah. Showed him the submersible and then they, the next scene he had submersible. Yeah. I assumed I missed a scene where, where he, where he like part of the movie had the submersible for another project. Yeah.

[00:23:11] But what, what you're saying is that I didn't and that he built it. I think he put it together at some point between here and there. I think so. I assume so. And that's what I wanted to see. And we didn't get that. So my feels are like, I assumed I missed, I assume I missed like when she walks in to put together the magnetometer. Yeah. I assumed like she saw it, you know, like she saw the submersible and was like a clock. Yeah. For later.

[00:23:37] I assumed I missed it because he, cause if not, that means he built, I think he built it, built submersible. We didn't get any of it. Yeah. In the shop. It's ridiculous. Going down to the shop, head down to the shop. Um, I learned, uh, crevasses and, uh, that that's a word and that's how you say it. And it made me laugh really loud. It wasn't crevasses. Yes. I was like, what? He said crevasses is funny. You can say it like that. He said crevasses is funny. Yeah. Turns out that's just the, there's a word in his crevasses. That's right. Crevasses.

[00:24:07] Why do you say crevasses is so weird? And I thought that that was really funny. You put the big flowers. Why'd Mark and Ian Turkish are crevasses? You know what? Crevasses is so weird. I think people by and large have lost the joy of learning and I'm here to bear witness that it is fun to still learn. You bear witness. And I am bearing witness to crevasses and I think it's really funny. Put that witness away right now. I, uh, rewound it a couple of times cause I thought it was so funny. So shout out to learning. Dan? Shout out to learning.

[00:24:36] Uh, my, no, I, my feels was raining fish on a boat trying to not get caught. That was awesome. That's all I got. Uh, let's take a quick break. We'll come back. We'll, uh, break this down a little bit further with the way we want in the what the hallmark here on. Deck the hallmark. Well, it's mid January. We're talking polar opposites or a second movie of the year. Uh, number one in our hearts. Number one in our hearts.

[00:25:07] Early ranking episode. Uh, we are, uh, we have a ranking episode coming out later this week. We'll be ranking the, uh, the Christmas movies. We'll be putting them from top to bottom. Lots of arguments will take place. Lots of arguments will take place. Uh, let's get to the way. What class will not be at one. Yeah. Uh, when we talk about the way, what's, uh, that's real. You just realized that. Yeah. Uh, let's get to it. Yeah. Brian, what made you go away while you're watching? Uh, so 10 days she was on the ship, right? Yeah.

[00:25:35] 10 days and 10 days, her dad's missing. That's right. And nobody's just MIA. And they're like, oh yeah, well he does this. It's Antarctica. Things happen. 10 days is so long. Cold out there. So long. Like me, I feel like I missed something there and I feel like I'm going to come in here and get shamed for not for missing a big detail, but it sounds like he was gone for 10 days. Her dad was gone. I think they tried to paint it out that he is like, that's his classic him to go off the grid. That's too long. It's not weird at all.

[00:26:04] He doesn't have his phone. He doesn't communicate. This is normal, but we can't send anybody out there just yet. You're not, that's not supposed to be able to happen. Not there. Yeah. You can't, that's the worst place to be a classic, not responder. Uh, at one point they did drive a boat near iceberg. Lola. That's right. And then turned around. I believe they were checking on, I don't know what they were doing, but so close to the iceberg that just, why not just grab that penguin and go just bear hug that penguin

[00:26:33] and drag it onto the boat and get it off the iceberg. You're right there. You're right there. You're so close. So I, that was a little drill baby drill. I guess so. I guess any excuse to build a drill, not show us. Uh, what else are we researching? Cause we can't just be doing penguins, right? Like we can't be down there doing penguins. I think he's specific to penguins. Everybody else doesn't really seem to care about them as much. This has to be like a, an honorary thing for him. Like they have a grant and like, let's just let him. I honestly don't even know if he's a part of this group. Yeah.

[00:27:02] He just showed, maybe that's why they're not checking on him. He's not even really part of it. Yeah. He's gone rogue. He's gone rogue. That's just crazy Dave with his penguins. Yeah. He's not giving any research. He never answers his phone. We're not checking on him. It's crazy Dave. There's no batteries in the phone. There's nothing in there. Uh, the crew telling pass on the ship, they're telling passengers that there may be an imposter among them. Yeah. I don't, the loudspeaker is fantastic. I don't think like ship one Oh one. Yeah.

[00:27:30] Like don't freak out the passengers. Like tell them anything except that. You don't know what the reviews are going to be on the head. They announced things were going great. And then there's an imposter among us. Yeah. You freak them out. Because what you hear if you are just, you know. Is there's a murderer on the loose. A murderer. Basically. A terrorist. Yes. Yes. They don't have control. Somebody took over the ship. Yeah. Everything. I'm the captain now. I'm the captain now. Right. Get off that ship. The supply room where Rian and Fish was seemed to have an intercom that broadcasts to the entire ship. Again, it feels like.

[00:28:00] From the laundry room there. Yeah. It just feels like a little risky. Like don't have that. You don't have that. Don't have that. Anybody can get in there and do bits. Yeah. Brand's going to be doing bits. He's going to lock himself in there. 100%. Take over the intercom. Yeah. We'll do. We'll be doing all kinds of fun stuff in there. Oh man. And also it was just, it seems harder to blend into the crew when there were only two crew. That's right. When there were only two crew. So real challenge there for her actually. Now I'm thinking back on it. And so, yeah, that's, that's it for me.

[00:28:26] Um, he does tell her when we land the ship. He says, when we land, is that a thing? I always thought it was like, when we dock. I mean, you're getting to land. When we dock. When we dock. I've heard land. You've heard when we land. I feel like I've never been on a cruise ship. I have. I've cruised. When we land. We're going to land. Um, you get to land. Land ho. Land ho. That's right. When we get to land. Um, anytime I'm packing, uh, like a quick weapon.

[00:28:57] Go bag. Um, the first thing that I make sure that I grab are my silk pajamas. Well, yeah. Yeah. She had two seconds and one amazed by how much she was able to pack. Cause she has a change of clothes for all 10 days. Yeah. Even though she didn't know it was going to be 10 days, but also the, the, the forethought to also pack the silk pajamas. She's just better than all of us. And, uh, she's rubbing it in our bag is like some sort of like a Mrs. Miracle bag.

[00:29:27] You know, it's like, I was going to be in the room for silk pajamas. The fish is the new miracle. That's what we're learning. Um, so at the beginning of the movie, she's trying to get, uh, on the ship. Right. And she bumps into Ingrid. I believe is her name. And she's like, you can't get on the ship. And she's like, okay, here's my card. Uh, it says Emma in big font. You can't forget me. My name's Emma.

[00:29:48] It says it, um, later in the movie, there's a big, a funny thing where she is. Uh, Emma is now dressed up like a crew member and Ingrid goes to get a massage. Yeah. In her workout gear. And she hears the quack, quack, quack. And it's at this point while she's laying face first on the massage table in her workout gear. That's right.

[00:30:15] That she pulls out the card that Emma gave her. Yes. She keeps on her workout. She keeps on her workout. She keeps it on her person. I'm going to keep this on my person in my work. It doesn't matter if it's my, uh, my, my, uh, sailing whites or, or my, I don't know what they call them. Dress whites. Yeah. Or my workout gear. I know, right? I am going to have Emma's card on it that says Emma in big font. And there's something you can, I will die with this card. I'll die in a big town. Yeah.

[00:30:44] No, I would never die in a spot. I almost gotcha. Yeah. You can't. It wasn't even nominated for best bit. Can you believe that? People are dumb. Yeah. I know y'all. I like, I know. I love y'all. You're dumb. You're dumb people. We know which ones are just for us. We know which ones are just for us. Now we do. Um, so I, this movie had me thinking. Are you going to throw up? That I don't, like, I feel like, like I've seen a globe. Like I've seen a globe before, you know?

[00:31:13] And like, I feel like I, like, I always thought, no, I always thought Antarctica was big. Yeah. You know, like Antarctica is big. Right. I would assume. Yeah. But she gets off this boat and is able to just walk to the base. Not like she didn't know. We don't get to see her journey from embarking, getting, getting off the ship. It's a great way one right here.

[00:31:43] Yes. Yeah. Are you kidding me? This didn't bother you guys? They just put, they probably build it right there. Build it where you're going to land the boat. Okay. They get to travel like in the other side of Antarctica. They just land the boat where they would build the thing. But 99% of this crew is not here for the base. Yeah. 99% of the crew, the crew is here for Antarctica. Yeah. But you just look, you don't get to just go wander in Antarctica.

[00:32:13] It's very, there's a whole treaty about Antarctica. You don't just get to go. I guess it just bothered me. I'd like that. She can just walk to me. I was, I was on board. Okay, great. Yeah. Um, last but not least, uh, she does, uh, sketch penguins, I guess for the rest of her days and just leaves table out there. Yeah. There's a table there. Leaves it out. That's going to be my sketch table. It's really good for Antarctica. That's right. It's going to be my sketch table and no one's going to chair table. It's going to be good to go. You can leave trash anywhere, right? Yeah. She just walks to the base in Antarctica. That's what I'm wondering. Can you believe that?

[00:32:43] That's crazy. Do you think the boat is going to land? Like honestly, I'm just saying. Do you think the boat is going to land and you're just going to walk? The thing that's crazy is you guys are joking. It was the thing that bothered me most about this movie is that they, that they built a, uh, that this base was somehow very close to where this. Where would you build it? Where would you build it? Where the boats can't, don't land? No, I just assume like that you can't walk. Not a lot of ports. It's Antarctica. There's not a lot of ports. There's one port. I understand. My problem is that she walks from where the ship was port to the base. Port to base.

[00:33:13] In Antarctica. You want to disrupt the least amount of Antarctica as possible. That's exactly right. It's all going to be in one spot. I would assume she would freeze. I assume that every, if you needed to get anywhere in Antarctica, you had to very least had to get pretty. That's one of the biggest mysteries. You would think so by her lack of headwear. Yeah. I'll go with that one first. Um, she, the, it, Rhian and fish is playing a poker game with craziest temperatures to not have a winter hat or face covering on in hair down that I've ever seen.

[00:33:41] It starts with front of the boat. She's on the front of the boat, looking at iceberg, no hat on. And I was like, all right, well, that's crazy. Then they get on the snow, a TV and there's a scene where the, the ATV is moving and you see that she has a hat on, but she is on that ATV with no hat on. And I'm like, all right, well, that's crazy. And by the end of this movie, they are in a tent and there is a shot of her face. Her hair is literally frozen.

[00:34:10] Her hair is literally frozen and she doesn't have a hat on. I get it. You're Rhian and fish hair looks great. You don't have a winter hat. It's Antarctica. Put a hat on, just put a hat on. There's going to be plenty of scenes inside where you can take your hat off. Put a hat on. That was crazy. That was crazy for me. I couldn't believe that that was happening, but it did. Um, how small is this cruise ship?

[00:34:38] Because Ingrid is always where Rhian and fishes. I mean, I don't, I've not been on a cruise ship brand. Really? Never been on one. We've had this conversation brand. What is the likelihood that you run into someone you don't know on a cruise ship all the time? Regularly. I don't really know what her Ingrid's D like, what her gig is. Cause she's everything. She's like, what's her role there? Yeah. I don't know what her levels to a boat. She's everywhere.

[00:35:08] She just go to a level that Ingrid is not on. You would think so. And it didn't make any sense at all. That was a crazy one. Um, guys, I got news for you and I hate to be the bearer of bad news. Lola, the penguin is dead. Oh, she's dead. I said in my intro, if you know anything about orcas, orcas are the a holes of the ocean. They are awful, awful creatures. And if orcas are surrounding that little patch of ice or five, it's fine because they're not real whales. They're dolphins actually. So it's fine.

[00:35:38] This isn't a whale situation. Orcas are called killer whales, but they're actually dolphins. Orcas are going to what? When whale guy doesn't involve enough, man. Well, guy doesn't involve you. All right. Sounds like a lot of people think it does. It doesn't. Okay. So I'm, I didn't see anything bad about whales. I'm talking about orcas. What are your thoughts on whales though? Say it. I don't like whales either. Okay. But everybody knows that orcas are the a holes of the ocean. I'm just saying if orcas have found this little iceberg and have surrounded it, they're

[00:36:07] going to bonk that thing around. Lola's falling in the water and she gone. It's over. You are not. Lola is not making it for a fortnight on this iceberg. Orcas have had themselves a snack. They have moved on. I am with Dan on this one. Thank you whale guy. It's a good thing that we can agree. It's good. I want to hang out later. No. Okay. If you were on ice, I'd bonk you off. Yeah. That's all right. That's different. I don't want you bonking me off at all. Can I take you back on?

[00:36:36] Please go for it. So just going to go off of that too. If the orcas don't like they're just been swimming around Lola for two weeks. That's right. If for some reason they don't do that, Lola has starved to death. It's tough out there. Lola has been there. I mean, I guess we should. Maybe Ian's chucking. He's throwing fish at her. When I saw March of the Penguins. He surfboarded out there. When I saw March of the Penguins, I watched male penguins sit on an egg for months I feel like without food, but I could be wrong.

[00:37:06] Regardless, she's dead. She's dead. Yeah. I mean, she, you know. Rest in peace, obviously. They can fast for, yeah. I guess they can. 54 days. There you go. So we're good there. All right. She just seemed to be in great health. Yeah. She's doing great. She's doing the best she can. She was standing the whole time. Do they do crazy things with their necks? Yeah. Yeah. What is that about? Just turn all the way around there. Just stretching out. It's like the exorcist. Okay. You know, exorcist penguins. That's a different type of penguins. It's in the North Pole, I believe. Yeah. Right.

[00:37:34] These are, there are so many almost kisses in this movie and they're the worst breakages for a kiss ever. Like they shared a room for 10 days gang. Like I don't, what do we, what do we think's happening here? And they're almost kissing in a tent in the freezing colds and they get sidetracked. I don't remember when they get that sidetracked before. They also see what stopped them was the wind stopping. I think that's what broke. They were like, yeah, the wind stopped that kiss. The wind stopping, stop that kiss. Yeah.

[00:38:01] The absence of, you would think that it would help the kiss, but it actually stopped the kiss. Uh, and then lastly, we get a bunch of terrible CGI of drill, but Southern lights, if you don't have it, you don't have it. If you don't have it, you don't have it. You cannot show me the beauty of Antarctica like you've shown me and then give me those Southern lights. You can't do it. It's, it's, it's just embarrassing. And like brand said, if you didn't have everything to make movie, don't make movie or just don't

[00:38:31] show the Southern lights. I'm sure it's beautiful out there without them. If they weren't around, just don't act like you got them. I don't know. Yeah. There you go. Uh, it's time for what the homework is where we wonder what could have been. Maybe we'll see what is that? You got it. What are we still wondering about Brian? Yeah, I was really, thank you. I was really curious about, uh, the people who work on ships. What's their, uh, what's the deal there? Do you get massages? Like do you get to go take a day off? It is weird that one of the employees is getting a massage in the sauna. It seems like she's got a full day off there. She's in the gym.

[00:39:01] She gets to go get massage. Like, do you get to do that as a crew member? Or I assumed you were just on the whole time and you don't get to use. Yeah. That's not your vacation. You're working for someone else's vacation. Like, I don't know. Maybe they do have cool facilities, but do they? I guess that's where we're at here with the, with the, what the hallmark. Yeah. I mean, listen, Ingrid and, uh, what's his name? Other guy, other crew member. Martin? Yeah.

[00:39:24] They, uh, clearly, uh, are going to be a thing. Yeah. Yeah. Moving forward. Um, I wonder if they're going to work out because this seems like a very tight ship. Uh, it seems like they are in, uh, close quarters and they're always together. We've really done it with the words today. What was that? No, you're doing great with the sailing turns. Oh, great. That's actually, yeah. So I'm, uh, I, you know, and it didn't see, it seemed like she went a long time without

[00:39:54] knowing that he could have ever possibly been interested in her. And so I'm just, yeah, I, I found their relationship to be very fascinating and they finally get to the point to where they kind of tell each other how they feel and then we never see him again. And that was disappointing. Tough. That was disappointing because I was interested in what was going on there. Dana? Yeah. Uh, Rhiannon Fish. I, we've had her on the show. She's from Australia, grew up in Canada.

[00:40:16] I believe until I'm corrected or hear otherwise from Ms. Fish that she is taking jobs in movies purely to travel. Um, she has in the last year and change, I'm going to say 13 months. She has made movies in Patagonia, Costa Rica, and Norway. So she is traveling to the ends of the earth on someone else's dime and having, mainly Johnson having a blast. Yeah.

[00:40:45] And I just want to hear from her if that's the motivation behind the movies that she takes. Cause it certainly seems that way. I mean, you know, Lacey used to do one movie a year where she went to Europe and it's like, Lacey wants to travel. This seems like egregious. It seems like Rhiannon is like, if you want me to be in your movie, set it somewhere else. And she's gone all over. Yeah. I mean, Norway, Costa Rica, Patagonia, you're, I mean, she's doing it. She needs to go on safari in Africa and go to Asia. And she's pretty much got it covered at that point.

[00:41:15] Yeah. Most people, I think like how many people can say they did a movie in Antarctica? That's right. That's pretty cool. Yeah. So I, I think like, and I'm not mad at all about it. Like if she knows exactly what she is in the movie, she's getting hired for. She's like, well, why don't I just take all the travel movies? And that's a pretty cool way to see the world and make money in the process. So good for her. She's in the pocket of big penguin now. So that's a penguin is a tough pocket to be. Sure. Speaking of big pockets, it's time for double decker of the week. Yeah.

[00:41:45] Sure. That's right. And you don't need big pockets to be double decker because it's not that expensive. I don't know. I'm trying. Bramblejamplus.com double decker tier or higher. That's right. We'll shout you out once a week. Different double decker. We Brian does a little bit of a deep dive here. Tells us all about double decker. Our double decker of the week this week, Brian is Maddie Johnson. Maddie Johnson. Yeah. Maddie. Really excited about this one. That's right. You are. I've heard Maddie's salt of earth. Salt of the earth. I've heard that too. Yeah. Maddie. Wow.

[00:42:15] You're right. What you're hearing is right. And actually, Maddie's been working on something that just right in line with a character just to help out the people. Great. It's more like a, it's for like, you ever been, you know, you get your friends together and you're going out and you want everyone to kind of be on point. No. All right. But you can imagine. I can imagine the idea of going out with friends. Special occasion. You want everybody to be kind of like on point. Yeah. Looking fine. Like the deck. On point looking fine. Like the deck. Exactly. Like an event. Rolling together. Classic pink, white, green combo. That's exactly right.

[00:42:44] You get it. So Maddie's got this sort of a product, I guess you would say, where getting everybody together and putting, making sure everybody's on point. And so it's, it's this product called theme attire. Theme attire. Theme attire. Theme attire. You get everybody together. You want everybody kind of be, have a theme going beyond point and go have a good time. And so theme attire. Okay. Yeah. Instead of themed attire. Oh, sure.

[00:43:14] It could be. I'm not sure if we have. Or is it theme attire like the tires are themed. Yeah. That's more. Yeah. The tires on the car that are picking everyone up is themed. So if they were doing a, like a casino theme, the tires would be like roulette wheels. Could roulette wheel. Great. They're round. That would work. Coins even. Chips. Chips. Yeah. It could be chips. Anything round. Hmm. Like Lay's. Lay's. Wavy Lay's. Sour cream and onions.

[00:43:43] This is interesting. So what is it? Is it a paint job? I think it's a, no, I think it's like a, a company that is the, the party, but a party bus company, but they figure out what your event is and the tires of the party bus are themed to your event. That's what you're paid for. It's like exhibit shows up instead of pimping the ride. He just pimps the tires. Yeah. But on the tires, is it like a skin that goes around the tires at a paint job? I think they're creating new time.

[00:44:12] I think that's what you're paying from scratch. They're creating new tires for every event. And I'm, once again, I don't know anything about Maddie's business. I don't know why I'm talking. Yeah. Go ahead. Have you done any? Actually what Maddie is doing, it's your car you bring in and you just, you get custom tires obviously and it's designed and you do. Are you just like renting them for the night? Well, you'd forfeit your real tires for them. So you're done. It's a trade-in? Yeah, basically. Just one theme and you're done. Yeah, kind of. Okay, so if we really, my idea is better.

[00:44:42] That's the idea. If we wanted some, like a trophy theme for the Dackeys for our tires, how much does that cost? The shimmering gold tires? The shimmering gold? Yeah. They all have to match. They're all the same. I believe that would be around the $7.49 range per tire. Per tire. Okay, so three grand. This is, we're getting updated with that. And I forfeit my own tires. Your own tires. Well, mostly like a donation, really. You get to write it off. You can write it off. Yeah, that's okay. Are they a non-profit? No. So how are you writing it off? Not exactly.

[00:45:11] That's, well, those are, don't ask those questions. I mean, it's... You got ideas, you need to ask questions. If it's 5-1c3, you have to ask those questions. Great. That's, it's all before there. Maddie's got it all figured out. This sounds interesting, for sure. Aaron, you love a theme. Mm-hmm. Do you like this idea? Would you do this? I mean, I would maybe wait and see if she expands the business a little bit. I do love the idea of just tires, but like maybe a little bit more for my car. Like, are we getting matching like a steering wheel cover?

[00:45:41] But that's no longer a tire. That's right. But I just... It's all tires, unfortunately. I think if the business goes well, she will expand. And once she expands, I'm interested, call me. Thule my tires. Mm-hmm. There you go. I'm not gonna call you. You have to call me. Okay, got it. That's how it works, actually. Thank you, Maddie. Yeah, great work, Maddie. Yeah, really good stuff. We did it, everybody. Congratulations to us. We'll be back next time with another one. Until then, maybe the first to wish you a... Merry Christmas!
