[00:00:00] [SPEAKER_04]: Hi, I'm Brandon. I love Hallmark Christmas movies. I'm Brian. I like Hallmark Christmas movies. I'm Dan and I despise Hallmark Christmas movies. I'm Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy. I'm a former Hallmark hater. And this is the Deck The Hallmark Podcast. Deck The Hallmark, it's this podcast. Friends host this podcast. We hope you like this jolly podcast.
[00:00:30] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, hello everybody. It's a big day.
[00:00:42] [SPEAKER_06]: Big day today. Not just because it's Wednesday. We've always said Wednesday is a big day. We go in every Wednesday. We say it's a big day. We do the big day. We go everybody hands in. Big day. Big day. That's right. That's not the only reason.
[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_06]: It's the second time we've done that today. It's the second time. So it's a super big day. Yeah, it's not the only time we've done that.
[00:01:02] [SPEAKER_04]: And it's not only because it's Wednesday. Why else is it a big day, Dana? It's a big day because we, this has been soft launched and announced. We're late to the game here. I love a soft launch. It is. You go into the restaurant and it's like they're making the food. You don't pay anything. You never know how it's going to go. Yeah. Sometimes it's a mess. Yes. That's not what happened here. I love it. Okay, great. Well, friends and family days, even better. Oh my God. Yeah. Friends and family days, even better. You would think it's mortal enemies day. I've been to two or three friends and family days and you're like, you're not ready to open. You're not ready to open.
[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_04]: You're not anywhere. Please don't open. We're ready to open here though. And we're also ready to expand the Bramble Jam podcast network. And who better to join us than my personal favorite Hallmark podcast. No offense to you guys. It's the girl's gone Hallmark.
[00:01:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Wow. That's right.
[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Love the sound effects.
[00:01:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:01:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_04]: So morning zoo. We, we now have, now that you guys are the serious Hallmark podcast, we've been trying to hold that fort down.
[00:02:00] [SPEAKER_04]: We can now let loose a little bit.
[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_04]: We can be more of a morning zoo radio.
[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm hearing we just hit our budget on sound effects.
[00:02:07] [SPEAKER_03]: That's right.
[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_04]: What was that?
[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_06]: Little rim shot.
[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_06]: We won't need that.
[00:02:13] [SPEAKER_06]: No, for sure.
[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_06]: But this has been, I would say a long time coming, but honestly it hasn't been.
[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_06]: It's actually been a really short time coming.
[00:02:20] [SPEAKER_06]: Fundamentally not true.
[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_06]: But we're so excited.
[00:02:24] [SPEAKER_06]: We're so excited to have the girls gone Hallmark gals on the Bramble Jam podcast network for a few reasons.
[00:02:30] [SPEAKER_06]: One, we liked them a lot.
[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_06]: Two, we sat down, Dan, you and I sat down.
[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_06]: We looked at the Hallmark schedule for the year and we said, we can't do it anymore.
[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_06]: We're overwhelmed.
[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_06]: It's just too much.
[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_06]: So to have another show on the network that is able to occasionally do some of the stuff that we're not able to do and vice versa, I think is really nice.
[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_06]: Synergy, as they say.
[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_06]: Synergy.
[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_06]: We're big on synergy here.
[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_06]: You can finally use it.
[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_06]: But I'll kick it over to you.
[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_06]: Why us?
[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_06]: Why us and why now?
[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, look, I'll be honest.
[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Our egos are very easily stroked and we were asked.
[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_01]: But we look, we were baby Hallmark podcasters when we started.
[00:03:12] [SPEAKER_01]: We had absolutely no idea what we were doing.
[00:03:13] [SPEAKER_01]: But the one thing we did know was that like that the Hallmark was the big dogs.
[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And would we have the opportunity?
[00:03:23] [SPEAKER_03]: That's history.
[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_01]: And look, being on your show last year was like a big dream of ours.
[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_01]: So joining your network, it has always been a long-term goal of ours to be in a podcast network.
[00:03:37] [SPEAKER_01]: And I don't think I ever could have imagined that there would be a better fit.
[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, sure, I'll let a big podcast network pick us up.
[00:03:44] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not like, but.
[00:03:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Instead.
[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_01]: No.
[00:03:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Clockwise.
[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Clockwise.
[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_01]: This makes perfect sense.
[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_01]: And we're so excited to be a Bramble Jam podcast.
[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_04]: I love it.
[00:03:58] [SPEAKER_04]: We're excited you guys are here.
[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_04]: It's, I mean, for a number of reasons, we can't wait for collaborations down the line.
[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_04]: But I also, Megan and Wendy, please, if there are people listening to our podcast right now
[00:04:09] [SPEAKER_04]: that maybe don't listen to other Hallmark podcasts, maybe they just listen to us for some reason,
[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_04]: which you shouldn't.
[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_04]: You should 100% be listening to some others.
[00:04:17] [SPEAKER_04]: Megan and Wendy, please pitch Girls Gone Home.
[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, wow.
[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_04]: Right now.
[00:04:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh.
[00:04:22] [SPEAKER_06]: Like you're on Shark Tank.
[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_04]: How much money are you raising?
[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_04]: No, no, no.
[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_04]: You've already got the job.
[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_04]: We love Shark Tank.
[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_04]: All that's already done.
[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Just tell everybody why.
[00:04:30] [SPEAKER_04]: Like if you, you know, I can do a great job, but I want to hear it from you guys.
[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_03]: A great job, huh?
[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, our angle is, look, I grew up listening to Hallmark movies.
[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Wendy is.
[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Did you watch them too?
[00:04:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Did you watch them?
[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Hit the sound effect quick.
[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_01]: I got five editors.
[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Pick a good one.
[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't know what that was, but it was nice.
[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I was the Hallmark movie girl.
[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Prior to starting Girls Gone Hallmark, Wendy had never seen a Hallmark movie.
[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's where the former Hallmark hater, Monica, comes in.
[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_01]: And the former comes in because she's obviously grown to have a lot of affection for these movies
[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_01]: and a lot of like respect for the process it takes to make them.
[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_01]: But look, we're real life best friends.
[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Our podcast is like hanging out and chatting with your best friends about these movies.
[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_01]: We keep it light.
[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_01]: We keep it fun.
[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a good time.
[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_01]: We'd love to have you over on Girls Gone Hallmark listening.
[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think I will say I refuse to listen to another Hallmark podcast until after we have recorded our episode.
[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Of course.
[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Because I'm so highly suggestible that I'm like, I'm going to internalize whatever they say.
[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_01]: But it is really interesting to hear other takes or hear your own takes validated.
[00:05:44] [SPEAKER_01]: I was listening to the Haunted Wedding episode from Deck the Hallmark.
[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm so sorry, Bran, but you're so wrong.
[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_01]: You're so wrong.
[00:05:51] [SPEAKER_04]: It's true.
[00:05:52] [SPEAKER_04]: It's so wrong.
[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what got into his Cheerios that day.
[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_04]: You know what?
[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_04]: I just couldn't believe that take from Bran.
[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_06]: Do you want to know what was validating for me?
[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_06]: Was that we have a ghost hunter in the Facebook group.
[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh my gosh.
[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_06]: That was also equally bothered by the things in the movie.
[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_06]: So it's that I care too much about ghosts, I think is what did it.
[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_06]: I care too much.
[00:06:13] [SPEAKER_04]: That shouldn't have validated.
[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_04]: Too much respect.
[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_06]: And it's like, you know, some, like Alonzo, whenever they do a film critic or something,
[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_06]: he's like, they're not doing it right.
[00:06:20] [SPEAKER_06]: Whenever they do podcasting, we're like, we're not doing it right.
[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_06]: They didn't do it right.
[00:06:24] [SPEAKER_06]: That's all I said.
[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_06]: I really like, you're still one of my best favorites.
[00:06:27] [SPEAKER_06]: Best favorites.
[00:06:27] [SPEAKER_06]: Still one of your best favorites.
[00:06:28] [SPEAKER_06]: One of your best favorites.
[00:06:29] [SPEAKER_06]: Here's what I'll say.
[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_06]: But anytime I'm remotely like, this didn't work for me, people think that I hate it.
[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_06]: That is true.
[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_06]: That is true.
[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_04]: That's the downside.
[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_04]: This is the first time I've been with them.
[00:06:39] [SPEAKER_04]: Wow.
[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Here's what I'll say about Girls Gone Hallmark.
[00:06:43] [SPEAKER_04]: The chemistry between the two of you is amazing.
[00:06:45] [SPEAKER_04]: One.
[00:06:45] [SPEAKER_04]: And two, sometimes people say to us, and I think wrongly, but they say to us, the reason
[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_04]: I listen to you guys is I know I'm going to get an actual take and not just a love fest.
[00:06:53] [SPEAKER_04]: You guys do a great job of that too.
[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_04]: You have a distinct point of view, a distinct opinion, and you let that know.
[00:07:00] [SPEAKER_04]: And if it's a great movie, we'll hear about it.
[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_04]: If it's not, and sometimes you'll disagree.
[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_04]: And I'm here for that.
[00:07:05] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm here for the disagreements.
[00:07:07] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm here for the opinions.
[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_04]: And so that's why you're a perfect fit for our network is because it gives people, I don't
[00:07:13] [SPEAKER_04]: know, Brandon, sometimes we can be a lot.
[00:07:14] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't want to say that.
[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, sometimes we can be a lot.
[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_04]: And maybe, maybe you need somebody that's not going to have sound effects.
[00:07:21] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[00:07:21] [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe, I don't know.
[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_04]: I love the sound effects.
[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_04]: I love them.
[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you.
[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_04]: And that's actually, believe it or not, that's not, that's not a sound effect.
[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_04]: Those are the people that are live.
[00:07:32] [SPEAKER_04]: We do all of our shows are live and we sit down, sit down.
[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm wondering if Wendy and I are the Hallmark movie equivalent of podcasts, like easy listening,
[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_01]: easy watching.
[00:07:44] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, I like that.
[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_04]: I like that.
[00:07:48] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[00:07:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Y'all are Netflix.
[00:07:49] [SPEAKER_01]: We're Hallmark.
[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_06]: That's the best sell.
[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_06]: That's the best sell.
[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_06]: That is really good.
[00:07:54] [SPEAKER_06]: Well, we brought you on for a good one today, I guess.
[00:07:58] [SPEAKER_06]: Scouting for Christmas, which I'm not ashamed to reveal what happened before the show.
[00:08:05] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
[00:08:05] [SPEAKER_06]: I figured out why it was called Scouting for Christmas right before we started recording.
[00:08:10] [SPEAKER_06]: I think for a lot of people that might be the case.
[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_06]: They might hear me explain it and they're like, oh, it makes so much sense now.
[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_06]: But everybody else here was shocked that I didn't put it together.
[00:08:19] [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, the movie's about Girl Scouts.
[00:08:21] [SPEAKER_04]: They can't say Girl Scouts, but the movie's about Scouting.
[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_04]: Scouting.
[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_04]: And I see that.
[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_04]: The whole movie.
[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_06]: I see that.
[00:08:26] [SPEAKER_06]: So I put it together.
[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_06]: I would like maybe a little bit of credit, actually, for putting it together.
[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_06]: Cracked the case wide open.
[00:08:34] [SPEAKER_04]: It was like the murder mystery at the marathon.
[00:08:36] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[00:08:36] [SPEAKER_05]: You cracked it wide open.
[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_05]: What's your favorite Girl Scout cookie?
[00:08:39] [SPEAKER_05]: Go.
[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_05]: Samoas.
[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_05]: It's the peanut butter patties are the best.
[00:08:43] [SPEAKER_00]: What is happening?
[00:08:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_00]: I love a shortbread cookie.
[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I do too.
[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Yay!
[00:08:50] [SPEAKER_06]: I know it's like a boring pick, but I really like it.
[00:08:54] [SPEAKER_06]: I really like it.
[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, Thin Mint's a close second, but the peanut butter patties.
[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_04]: You know about the peanuts.
[00:08:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, man.
[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_03]: I have to keep them away from me because it would be a problem otherwise.
[00:09:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Do you lick around that cookie or what do you do?
[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_03]: No, Bran.
[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't do that.
[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Why would I do something like that?
[00:09:09] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
[00:09:09] [SPEAKER_06]: Why do you do a lot of the things you do?
[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Does he lick around the cookie?
[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_04]: Is he just licking air?
[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_04]: That's just the air.
[00:09:14] [SPEAKER_04]: Is he just licking air?
[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_06]: No, he breaks it open, crumbles it, and then he just kind of scouting for Christmas in case
[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_06]: you missed it.
[00:09:22] [SPEAKER_06]: It originally premiered on October 20th, 2024, and it went a little something like this.
[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_06]: We meet Angela, who is a realtor slash single mom.
[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_06]: She's working hard.
[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_06]: She's busy, busy, busy.
[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_06]: Angela is late to pick up her daughter, Brooklyn, which means Brooklyn is going to go to the bakery
[00:09:43] [SPEAKER_06]: that she frequents when her mom is frequently late.
[00:09:46] [SPEAKER_06]: She comes so often that the owner, William Glass, that's the name they went with.
[00:09:52] [SPEAKER_06]: They call me Mr. Glass.
[00:09:54] [SPEAKER_06]: Called Brooklyn his number one customer.
[00:09:58] [SPEAKER_06]: Angela shows up, and Brooklyn is like, yay, you're here.
[00:10:04] [SPEAKER_06]: Thanks.
[00:10:04] [SPEAKER_06]: We're going to be late.
[00:10:05] [SPEAKER_06]: And William Glass hits on her for a second.
[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_06]: I think if you squint, he was hitting on her, but I'm not actually entirely sure, which
[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_06]: is kind of a theme early on in this movie.
[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_06]: And they get to the Sunny Scout meeting.
[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_06]: What do you think their best cookies are?
[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_06]: You tried some of the Sunny Scouts.
[00:10:23] [SPEAKER_03]: The Sunny Scouts?
[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, the Sunny Scouts.
[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_06]: Sunny Scout sprinkles were my favorite.
[00:10:26] [SPEAKER_03]: They have like a faux peanut butter cookie that really worked for me.
[00:10:29] [SPEAKER_03]: A faux peanut butter.
[00:10:29] [SPEAKER_03]: For those who can't have peanut butter.
[00:10:30] [SPEAKER_06]: I like the Scooty Scoots.
[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_06]: I think those are really good.
[00:10:32] [SPEAKER_06]: The Sunny Scout sprinkles are the best.
[00:10:34] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, they're so good.
[00:10:35] [SPEAKER_06]: They're so good.
[00:10:35] [SPEAKER_06]: The girls are planning a big holiday ball, and there's lots to do.
[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_06]: Brooklyn raises her hand and is like, hey, can my mom bring a date to the scout ball?
[00:10:48] [SPEAKER_06]: And den mother Elizabeth is like, yeah, I guess your mom, grown mom, can bring a grown date
[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_06]: to the ball.
[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_06]: And Angela looks around like, what is she doing?
[00:11:01] [SPEAKER_06]: Why?
[00:11:01] [SPEAKER_06]: After the meeting, den mother Elizabeth throws some shade at Angela for always being so busy.
[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_06]: Angela's sister Sarah comes in and lets her know, hey, you're amazing, but also you're lonely.
[00:11:16] [SPEAKER_06]: And I've got ice cream and I've got a mission.
[00:11:19] [SPEAKER_06]: We got to get you a date.
[00:11:22] [SPEAKER_06]: Brooklyn comes in and is like, date?
[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, you should get a date because I don't know if you know this.
[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_06]: I got it approved for you to bring a date to the scout ball.
[00:11:32] [SPEAKER_06]: And that's a pretty big deal.
[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_06]: At the bakery, Angela and William have yet what I would call another awkward run in.
[00:11:39] [SPEAKER_06]: For some reason, Angela keeps forgetting to mention her name.
[00:11:43] [SPEAKER_06]: And William flirts like he's trying to win like bronze medal at best at flirting.
[00:11:51] [SPEAKER_06]: Brooklyn got her own plans, though.
[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_06]: Wishes her mom would go to the Sunnyside Scout with old Billy Glass.
[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_06]: You should go to the ball with Billy Glass.
[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_06]: It'd be wonderful.
[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_06]: And she decides she's going to manifest it by drawing a picture.
[00:12:06] [SPEAKER_06]: Name it.
[00:12:07] [SPEAKER_06]: Claim it.
[00:12:07] [SPEAKER_06]: You love to see it.
[00:12:09] [SPEAKER_06]: William's Bakery, Sir Bakes-A-Lot.
[00:12:12] [SPEAKER_06]: That's the name that they went for.
[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_06]: Is it Bakes-A-Bunch, right?
[00:12:15] [SPEAKER_06]: Bakes-A-Bunch.
[00:12:16] [SPEAKER_04]: Sir Bakes-A-Lot makes a lot more soup.
[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, Bakes-A-Bunch.
[00:12:19] [SPEAKER_06]: Sir Bakes-A-Bunch.
[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_06]: Is growing large enough to potentially expand.
[00:12:25] [SPEAKER_06]: And his mom is really pushing for it because you know how moms are always like,
[00:12:30] [SPEAKER_06]: if you only have one bakery, you suck at baking.
[00:12:33] [SPEAKER_06]: So she's very much really pushing for him to expand.
[00:12:36] [SPEAKER_06]: Meanwhile, Brooklyn is playing matchmaker, asking William to cater the ball
[00:12:42] [SPEAKER_06]: because if you're already going to be at the ball, you might as well go
[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_06]: and you might as well dance with my mom.
[00:12:47] [SPEAKER_06]: You can dance if you want to.
[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_06]: That's right.
[00:12:49] [SPEAKER_06]: Leave your friends behind.
[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_06]: Angela reluctantly agrees to meet up with him to brainstorm treats that they could pitch
[00:12:55] [SPEAKER_06]: to the scouts.
[00:12:57] [SPEAKER_06]: And so Angela goes and she tries to pitch William to the Den Mommy.
[00:13:02] [SPEAKER_06]: Can you say that?
[00:13:02] [SPEAKER_06]: No.
[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't think you can.
[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_06]: Sorry.
[00:13:04] [SPEAKER_06]: Den Mommy should you.
[00:13:05] [SPEAKER_06]: And the Den Mommy is like, we have a protocol here.
[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_06]: You have to come.
[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_06]: You have to leave that out.
[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_06]: You have to pitch the baked goods and then we'll decide if you're going to be good enough.
[00:13:13] [SPEAKER_06]: Bramble Jam is still a family network, is it not?
[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, Den Mommy.
[00:13:16] [SPEAKER_06]: William and Angela spend the day together.
[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_06]: Den Mommy.
[00:13:21] [SPEAKER_06]: Den Mommy.
[00:13:23] [SPEAKER_05]: Den Mommy.
[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_06]: Den Mommy.
[00:13:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Biscuit.
[00:13:46] [SPEAKER_03]: That's true.
[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_03]: If you burn that pastry, it could be a biscuit, I guess.
[00:13:49] [SPEAKER_06]: As William leaves, we see a member of the Mumford & Sons walk up to her door.
[00:13:53] [SPEAKER_06]: It is Angela's ex.
[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_06]: His name's Dakota.
[00:13:56] [SPEAKER_06]: He probably plays banjo and wants to spend the holidays with the family.
[00:14:02] [SPEAKER_06]: But Angela's not thrilled about this, but she is going to let him crash on the couch
[00:14:06] [SPEAKER_06]: for the night because of Brooklyn.
[00:14:09] [SPEAKER_06]: The next day, the glass man, as I call him, meets Dakota and immediately spirals out of
[00:14:14] [SPEAKER_06]: control.
[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_06]: He's like, this is not what I want.
[00:14:16] [SPEAKER_06]: So he is like, I know we were going to get together.
[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_06]: We're going to look at these expansion papers.
[00:14:23] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't want to do this right now.
[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't want to talk about bank goods.
[00:14:25] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't want to do anything.
[00:14:26] [SPEAKER_06]: And she's like, okay, I'll look at the papers myself.
[00:14:29] [SPEAKER_06]: And she says, you know what?
[00:14:31] [SPEAKER_06]: Trust your gut.
[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_06]: I wouldn't if I was him at this point.
[00:14:35] [SPEAKER_06]: He's spiraling.
[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_06]: Elizabeth invites Dakota to the holiday ball because mommy needs a new daddy.
[00:14:41] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm sorry.
[00:14:42] [SPEAKER_06]: God almighty.
[00:14:43] [SPEAKER_06]: Dakota.
[00:14:44] [SPEAKER_04]: It's Wednesday, not Saturday at midnight.
[00:14:46] [SPEAKER_06]: Sorry.
[00:14:47] [SPEAKER_06]: Sorry.
[00:14:47] [SPEAKER_06]: But Dakota just wants to be back with Angela.
[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_06]: Angela.
[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_06]: So he kisses her at the Christmas fair thing.
[00:14:53] [SPEAKER_06]: William's mom sees that and immediately runs and tells Billy Glass, son, you got to
[00:14:58] [SPEAKER_06]: grow a pair.
[00:14:58] [SPEAKER_06]: You got to shoot your shot or else you're going to lose her forever.
[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_06]: The day comes when William is supposed to pitch the scouts and it goes actually quite
[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_06]: well.
[00:15:07] [SPEAKER_06]: It's incredibly easy.
[00:15:08] [SPEAKER_06]: Except it's not because Elizabeth decides that she's going to go with a robot bakery
[00:15:13] [SPEAKER_06]: because who needs actual baked goods when you can have robot pastries?
[00:15:18] [SPEAKER_06]: Angela finds the drawing that Brooklyn made of her and William dancing at the ball and
[00:15:22] [SPEAKER_06]: she's like, oh, she wants me to be.
[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, I see it now.
[00:15:26] [SPEAKER_06]: On the night of the ball, the robot baker backs out.
[00:15:28] [SPEAKER_06]: Must have been a bad microchip or something.
[00:15:32] [SPEAKER_06]: So Elizabeth pleads with Angela to ask William to cater last minute.
[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_06]: And with Brooklyn's help.
[00:15:39] [SPEAKER_06]: It was there.
[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_06]: You had to say it.
[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_06]: Dang it.
[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_06]: That was actually really good.
[00:15:42] [SPEAKER_06]: Thank you.
[00:15:43] [SPEAKER_06]: With Brooklyn's help, they burst in just in time.
[00:15:45] [SPEAKER_06]: McIntosh Damien.
[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_06]: Not just in time to interrupt William signing a contract to expand the store.
[00:15:52] [SPEAKER_06]: Shortbread and out.
[00:15:53] [SPEAKER_06]: Dude.
[00:15:53] [SPEAKER_06]: Really good.
[00:15:54] [SPEAKER_06]: Thank you.
[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_06]: That was a good one.
[00:15:56] [SPEAKER_04]: I was thinking shortbread circuit, but yours was better.
[00:15:58] [SPEAKER_06]: They make it to the dance just in time.
[00:16:01] [SPEAKER_06]: They got the baked goods and Angela and William dance just like in Brooklyn's picture.
[00:16:06] [SPEAKER_06]: And she invites him to spend Christmas together.
[00:16:09] [SPEAKER_06]: They kiss and Brooklyn watches all of her dreams come true.
[00:16:15] [SPEAKER_06]: And that, my friends, was Scouting for Christmas.
[00:16:22] [SPEAKER_06]: We did it.
[00:16:23] [SPEAKER_06]: We did do it, everybody.
[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_06]: We're going to take a break.
[00:16:26] [SPEAKER_06]: We're going to come back and we're all going to break this movie down together.
[00:16:30] [SPEAKER_06]: Here on Deck the Hallmark.
[00:16:42] [SPEAKER_06]: Everyone, we're talking about Scouting for Christmas.
[00:16:44] [SPEAKER_06]: The Girls Gone Hallmark are here.
[00:16:46] [SPEAKER_06]: It's a great day.
[00:16:47] [SPEAKER_06]: Not just because it's Wednesday.
[00:16:49] [SPEAKER_06]: I think we've established that.
[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_06]: Yes.
[00:16:51] [SPEAKER_06]: We're talking Scouting for Christmas.
[00:16:53] [SPEAKER_06]: We have four segments to break this movie down.
[00:16:55] [SPEAKER_06]: We're going to start with the hot take.
[00:16:56] [SPEAKER_06]: It's where we share exactly how we felt about this movie.
[00:16:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Brian, I will, because of the contract, start with you.
[00:17:02] [SPEAKER_06]: Thank you.
[00:17:02] [SPEAKER_06]: Some of the worst contracts for ever.
[00:17:04] [SPEAKER_03]: What did you think about Scouting for Christmas?
[00:17:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Scouting for Christmas.
[00:17:07] [SPEAKER_03]: This one I liked just okay.
[00:17:09] [SPEAKER_03]: I think this will end up middle of the pack for me overall as we get through the season.
[00:17:14] [SPEAKER_03]: An ambitious movie, I thought, with quite a complex family dynamic on the screen there.
[00:17:21] [SPEAKER_03]: I was pretty confused early on.
[00:17:23] [SPEAKER_03]: I was asking questions out loud.
[00:17:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Is the dad dead?
[00:17:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Is the dad alive?
[00:17:27] [SPEAKER_04]: I thought the dad was dead for a good chunk in the beginning of this movie.
[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_03]: You find out they're divorced.
[00:17:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, where is he?
[00:17:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, he's right there.
[00:17:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, is he involved?
[00:17:34] [SPEAKER_03]: It's his daughter.
[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_03]: She has his daughter.
[00:17:37] [SPEAKER_03]: What is very confused early on.
[00:17:40] [SPEAKER_03]: But, and she's a single mom.
[00:17:41] [SPEAKER_03]: So they're just throwing a lot on screen.
[00:17:43] [SPEAKER_03]: And so part of me is like, are they doing this intentionally where they're like, we're
[00:17:47] [SPEAKER_03]: going to make you feel some of this environment that she is living in, like the chaos of it.
[00:17:53] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if they were doing that intentionally, but I felt a little chaos.
[00:17:55] [SPEAKER_03]: And so that came across Dakota had me eating out of the palm of his hand.
[00:18:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Believe anything that guy tells me.
[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_03]: And I think that's the problem with someone like Dakota.
[00:18:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Someone like Dakota.
[00:18:04] [SPEAKER_05]: That's right.
[00:18:05] [SPEAKER_03]: That's who your mother warned you about.
[00:18:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Though, I, my big issue with Dakota is he didn't have like biological father vibes.
[00:18:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Like I didn't feel like he was Brooklyn's biological dad.
[00:18:17] [SPEAKER_03]: He just felt like, like it wasn't a strong connection there.
[00:18:21] [SPEAKER_03]: And so like, I feel like that there should have been a little more of that.
[00:18:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Like they should have been a little closer, but tomorrow's great.
[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Carlo Marks.
[00:18:28] [SPEAKER_03]: I just cannot not see him in a serial killer role.
[00:18:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Like he just, to me, he's, he should be a serial killer.
[00:18:34] [SPEAKER_03]: He's a villain.
[00:18:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Like he'd be so perfect there.
[00:18:37] [SPEAKER_03]: And so it's hard to see him as a super successful baker about to sign a distribution deal.
[00:18:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Sir begs a bunch.
[00:18:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Sir begs a bunch.
[00:18:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Even a lot.
[00:18:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Sir begs a bunch.
[00:18:45] [SPEAKER_03]: And so this one, yeah, this one, it'll be, it'll be just okay for me.
[00:18:49] [SPEAKER_03]: I think a little flat, but some things that did stand out that I liked.
[00:18:53] [SPEAKER_06]: Megan and Wendy, what did y'all think about, about this movie?
[00:18:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, look, my feeling was that Hallmark could not sustain the momentum that it had night
[00:19:02] [SPEAKER_01]: one and night two going into night three.
[00:19:05] [SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
[00:19:06] [SPEAKER_01]: This was not terrible.
[00:19:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I hate having to do this on your podcast.
[00:19:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm so sorry.
[00:19:13] [SPEAKER_01]: This was not absolutely going to come in, in my top 25 movies of the season.
[00:19:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Not middle of the pack is what you're saying.
[00:19:21] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it'll be lucky to be like high bottom of the pack.
[00:19:27] [SPEAKER_01]: I actually think the Angela Elizabeth storyline is the pairing to root for here beyond either
[00:19:33] [SPEAKER_01]: of these two bozos that I could not get behind.
[00:19:38] [SPEAKER_01]: I like Carlo Marks, but I don't know what they're doing with them here.
[00:19:42] [SPEAKER_01]: But I think like his character is so milquetoast in this role.
[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, what is happening?
[00:19:49] [SPEAKER_01]: He was super Hallmarkified.
[00:19:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Don't you think so?
[00:19:52] [SPEAKER_01]: He's really like yearbook photo treatment extreme.
[00:19:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, I wanted Marcy T house to like bust out of her best friend role so badly.
[00:20:03] [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, please give her more to do than just showing up with gifts.
[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_01]: I like Tamara, but Hallmark must not like her that much because I just feel like the roles
[00:20:14] [SPEAKER_01]: they're giving her are not murder in G major is the recent exception.
[00:20:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that was good.
[00:20:20] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
[00:20:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Give her better stuff.
[00:20:23] [SPEAKER_01]: I just, I, I don't want to be this person, but this, I'm sorry, this was not the joy filled
[00:20:30] [SPEAKER_01]: moment I wanted it to be.
[00:20:32] [SPEAKER_06]: I guess we'll get to the hater now.
[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_06]: The hot dog.
[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm sorry.
[00:20:35] [SPEAKER_04]: That was the, that was the, I just want to make sure I know and I've listened to the
[00:20:39] [SPEAKER_04]: podcast.
[00:20:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Megan is the one that loves the movies.
[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_00]: That's right.
[00:20:45] [SPEAKER_00]: And here comes the hater.
[00:20:46] [SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
[00:20:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Here she comes.
[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_00]: No, I co-sign everything Megan says here.
[00:20:51] [SPEAKER_00]: I, it started out strong for me.
[00:20:56] [SPEAKER_00]: I'll be a little confusing.
[00:20:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, but it just fell apart.
[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought it's definitely going to be lower of the pack.
[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Like you said, um, my hot take on this, and I'm guessing you guys don't get a lot of this,
[00:21:13] [SPEAKER_00]: but as a, uh, as a mom, the passive aggressiveness comments, the cattiness between like a working
[00:21:26] [SPEAKER_00]: mom and a non-working mom was very apparent in this movie.
[00:21:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Of course, Angela is like this hardworking realtor.
[00:21:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Who's trying to keep it all together.
[00:21:34] [SPEAKER_00]: And then we have the den mommy and she obviously has a lot of time.
[00:21:39] [SPEAKER_00]: You're welcome.
[00:21:40] [SPEAKER_00]: She has a lot of time on her hands to volunteer.
[00:21:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, I just, I, that like set me off from the very beginning of this movie.
[00:21:49] [SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, eh, I'm out.
[00:21:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, just to piggyback on that though, I, that, that is like, uh, Elizabeth's role.
[00:21:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, she does.
[00:21:59] [SPEAKER_01]: JC Doughton does a great job of being that horrible judgmental woman on woman crime.
[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:22:08] [SPEAKER_03]: She's the worst.
[00:22:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:22:09] [SPEAKER_03]: She was, I agree.
[00:22:10] [SPEAKER_03]: She was great in that.
[00:22:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Like that was one of my favorite parts.
[00:22:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:22:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:22:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Great.
[00:22:14] [SPEAKER_00]: That's the worst.
[00:22:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, absolutely.
[00:22:15] [SPEAKER_06]: Man, you need some of the top of the bottom.
[00:22:17] [SPEAKER_06]: You need some of those for sure.
[00:22:19] [SPEAKER_06]: Um, bad den mommy.
[00:22:20] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't, yeah.
[00:22:21] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't disagree with what anyone has said.
[00:22:23] [SPEAKER_06]: I would, uh, you know, you need, you need some of these, right?
[00:22:27] [SPEAKER_06]: You need some of them.
[00:22:28] [SPEAKER_06]: Do you need some of these?
[00:22:30] [SPEAKER_06]: I think that you do.
[00:22:31] [SPEAKER_06]: I think, I mean, I know I do.
[00:22:32] [SPEAKER_06]: I need some of these.
[00:22:34] [SPEAKER_06]: Is this like striking out to remember the home run?
[00:22:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Is that what this is?
[00:22:36] [SPEAKER_06]: I think, I think that what's important about movies like this.
[00:22:41] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm so excited for the spin by you.
[00:22:42] [SPEAKER_06]: This is fantastic.
[00:22:43] [SPEAKER_06]: Well, one, it's always good.
[00:22:44] [SPEAKER_06]: It's always good to see Carla Marks.
[00:22:46] [SPEAKER_06]: Um, I love Carla Marks.
[00:22:48] [SPEAKER_06]: I think that there are some, some actors out there that like can play like sad or, um,
[00:22:57] [SPEAKER_06]: like can play like, oh, they were giving a real low key performance.
[00:23:00] [SPEAKER_06]: You'd never get a low key performance by Carla Marks.
[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_06]: And I appreciate that.
[00:23:03] [SPEAKER_06]: Someone's got to bring the energy.
[00:23:05] [SPEAKER_06]: And after Chris McNally's sleeper, uh, performance, which I liked, it was great to have, uh, someone
[00:23:11] [SPEAKER_06]: out there just popping up.
[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_06]: Hey, what's going on?
[00:23:14] [SPEAKER_06]: Um, and his name, his name was Willie Glass.
[00:23:17] [SPEAKER_06]: And I, that's a real name they went with.
[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_06]: And that made me happy.
[00:23:20] [SPEAKER_06]: Um, I, I do think that there was a few too many, uh, pieces to this movie between Dakota,
[00:23:26] [SPEAKER_06]: between the expansion, but also pitching for a scout part.
[00:23:31] [SPEAKER_06]: Like there was a lot of moving parts here that I didn't really feel like worked necessarily.
[00:23:35] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't know what Dakota you were watching, but Dakota sucked.
[00:23:38] [SPEAKER_06]: And I think we can all agree on that.
[00:23:40] [SPEAKER_06]: Um, but you and Dakota, you guys go have fun.
[00:23:43] [SPEAKER_06]: Thanks for you.
[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_06]: Shoot pool.
[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_06]: You guys have a great night together.
[00:23:47] [SPEAKER_06]: Um, but yeah, this movie was just an okay for me.
[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, but if this is as bad as it gets, we're in for a good season.
[00:23:54] [SPEAKER_06]: Cause the first two amazing.
[00:23:56] [SPEAKER_06]: So if it's like amazing or this level, then best year ever.
[00:24:00] [SPEAKER_06]: Cause I still had a great time, Dan.
[00:24:01] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, Brian saying this is middle of the pack for him makes me think it's going to be
[00:24:04] [SPEAKER_04]: the worst year ever, because if there are 20 movies worse than this one, I might quit
[00:24:09] [SPEAKER_04]: my job.
[00:24:10] [SPEAKER_04]: Uh, this was tough gang.
[00:24:14] [SPEAKER_04]: The one thing I will give this movie is I appreciate while Hallmark has dropped the ball
[00:24:19] [SPEAKER_04]: on LGBTQ inclusivity as main romantic roles for their Christmas movies for this year, for
[00:24:24] [SPEAKER_04]: some unknown reason, showing a, like a typical in my hands, it's air quotes here, showing families
[00:24:32] [SPEAKER_04]: that don't look like your traditional, what you think a traditional family should look like
[00:24:36] [SPEAKER_04]: and showing them in a positive light is awesome.
[00:24:39] [SPEAKER_04]: And Hallmark did that.
[00:24:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Now that that's out of the way, this, no one gets Hallmark's best in this movie.
[00:24:45] [SPEAKER_04]: None of these actors, regardless of their level of skill, gets Hallmark's best.
[00:24:51] [SPEAKER_04]: It is fine to have a villain in your Hallmark movies.
[00:24:54] [SPEAKER_04]: You can't have three, right?
[00:24:56] [SPEAKER_04]: You can't, the mom is just worst mom, worst mom.
[00:25:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Nope.
[00:25:03] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, his mom.
[00:25:04] [SPEAKER_04]: The dead mom, also terrible.
[00:25:06] [SPEAKER_04]: And Dakota, also terrible.
[00:25:08] [SPEAKER_04]: If the terrible outweighs the people you're rooting for, you've got a problem.
[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_04]: Like, you've got a problem.
[00:25:15] [SPEAKER_04]: And also, like, I appreciate that Tamara is like strong, independent, doesn't look at being
[00:25:21] [SPEAKER_04]: this single mom who also has to work as being a burden, but being a joy that she does it because
[00:25:25] [SPEAKER_04]: she wants to do it.
[00:25:26] [SPEAKER_04]: But just because the female is like a strong woman who like speaks her mind and looks people
[00:25:32] [SPEAKER_04]: in the eye doesn't mean that the leading guy has to curl up in the fetal position every
[00:25:38] [SPEAKER_04]: time there is any sort of conflict.
[00:25:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Like, I just, I wanted her to end up with neither of these people so terribly badly.
[00:25:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Carlo Marx was in the blessing bracelet.
[00:25:49] [SPEAKER_04]: I still have not forgiven him.
[00:25:50] [SPEAKER_04]: This movie was terrible.
[00:25:52] [SPEAKER_04]: The 12-sided snowflake Marcus Rosner movie from the summer is ahead of this in my rankings.
[00:25:59] [SPEAKER_04]: Please make it stop.
[00:26:01] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm glad we get a break.
[00:26:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Brian, back to you.
[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_06]: Okay, it's time for all the feels.
[00:26:05] [SPEAKER_06]: We're going to talk about what this movie gave us feels.
[00:26:08] [SPEAKER_06]: Brian?
[00:26:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the vision board, I think we can all agree, was really nice.
[00:26:12] [SPEAKER_03]: They lit up.
[00:26:14] [SPEAKER_03]: It also, just the motivation behind it appealing to Den Mami's, you know, her character, knowing
[00:26:21] [SPEAKER_03]: she would like something like that.
[00:26:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Really, really good move.
[00:26:25] [SPEAKER_03]: And there was a banger song called Very Merry by Jamra in this movie.
[00:26:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, they got the Jamra?
[00:26:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, man.
[00:26:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Jamra showed up.
[00:26:31] [SPEAKER_03]: It was a banger, and so add it to the list.
[00:26:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Megan, any feels for you?
[00:26:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, look, Dan mentioned it, but I do think, I was also confused at the beginning, but I
[00:26:42] [SPEAKER_01]: think the story of Angela becoming Brooklyn's mom, like her path to motherhood was sweet.
[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_01]: I liked that inclusion.
[00:26:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Some more thoughts on that, I think, Wendy has in a minute.
[00:26:53] [SPEAKER_01]: But I do think, like you said, like, we've seen this a lot this weekend, actually.
[00:26:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Different family style representation happening.
[00:27:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Lots of blended families and step families.
[00:27:03] [SPEAKER_01]: So, loving that.
[00:27:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, quick little all the feels moment.
[00:27:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Although I wasn't the biggest fan of Mr. Willie Glass, I did like his moment where I was like,
[00:27:14] [SPEAKER_01]: maybe he's the best parent who's not actually a parent here.
[00:27:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Brooklyn's really upset about not getting the bid, and he's like, what do we do?
[00:27:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Do we need more gingerbread?
[00:27:23] [SPEAKER_01]: I was just like, he's swooping in to save the day.
[00:27:26] [SPEAKER_01]: It was a nice moment.
[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Nice.
[00:27:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Wendy?
[00:27:29] [SPEAKER_00]: For me, I really loved Angela and Brooklyn's relationship.
[00:27:34] [SPEAKER_00]: It made me miss having a 10-year-old, because I now have a 16-year-old, and times are very
[00:27:40] [SPEAKER_00]: different.
[00:27:42] [SPEAKER_00]: I miss those sweet moments with my daughter, who used to like me.
[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, those hit, like, right here.
[00:27:49] [SPEAKER_00]: So, how are you doing?
[00:27:51] [SPEAKER_03]: How are you?
[00:27:51] [SPEAKER_03]: She probably still likes you.
[00:27:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, we'll see.
[00:27:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's a Wednesday, so we'll see if she likes me today or not.
[00:28:01] [SPEAKER_02]: It is the best day.
[00:28:02] [SPEAKER_02]: It is.
[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_00]: So, I enjoyed those sweet moments between Angela and Brooklyn.
[00:28:07] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought those were nice.
[00:28:09] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
[00:28:10] [SPEAKER_06]: They did a, when they go to pitch the den mommy with the baked goods, and they do this overhead
[00:28:17] [SPEAKER_06]: shot, and she's like moving them around.
[00:28:19] [SPEAKER_06]: They plated those very nicely.
[00:28:22] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, you're right.
[00:28:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Top 10 signs of the movie sucks.
[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Beautiful.
[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Brands talking plating for his feels.
[00:28:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, agree to disagree.
[00:28:30] [SPEAKER_06]: I love a good plating.
[00:28:31] [SPEAKER_06]: And it is about that time of the year where I put on Food Network for the first time since
[00:28:36] [SPEAKER_06]: last December and watched the baking competitions, and this got me hyped for that.
[00:28:41] [SPEAKER_06]: It's baking competition season, and I'm excited.
[00:28:45] [SPEAKER_04]: Dan?
[00:28:46] [SPEAKER_04]: Somebody mentioned her earlier, but Marcy T.
[00:28:49] [SPEAKER_04]: House is great, and I want to see more of her.
[00:28:53] [SPEAKER_04]: I feel like she was in the Palaha soccer movie, and before then, I had not seen her since maybe
[00:28:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Cranberry Christmas.
[00:28:59] [SPEAKER_04]: Like, it's been a while.
[00:29:00] [SPEAKER_04]: I really like her a lot.
[00:29:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Would love to see more Marcy T.
[00:29:04] [SPEAKER_04]: House in Hallmark, and let's make that happen, everybody, and in a movie that isn't this one.
[00:29:10] [SPEAKER_04]: So that's my piece.
[00:29:13] [SPEAKER_06]: I just...
[00:29:14] [SPEAKER_06]: Sorry, I was...
[00:29:15] [SPEAKER_06]: Go ahead.
[00:29:16] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, I'm sorry.
[00:29:16] [SPEAKER_06]: Go ahead.
[00:29:16] [SPEAKER_00]: I think Marcy T.
[00:29:17] [SPEAKER_00]: House might be an EP on this movie.
[00:29:20] [SPEAKER_00]: What?
[00:29:22] [SPEAKER_00]: I think...
[00:29:23] [SPEAKER_04]: The Dead Mommy?
[00:29:24] [SPEAKER_04]: No, no, no.
[00:29:25] [SPEAKER_04]: The Best Friend.
[00:29:26] [SPEAKER_06]: Tamar's Best Friend.
[00:29:27] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, okay.
[00:29:28] [SPEAKER_06]: That's fine.
[00:29:29] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm sorry.
[00:29:30] [SPEAKER_06]: I was very busy.
[00:29:31] [SPEAKER_06]: I was saving all of the Christmas baking competitions.
[00:29:33] [SPEAKER_06]: She cut herself out a little bit, you think?
[00:29:35] [SPEAKER_04]: On Philo, obviously.
[00:29:36] [SPEAKER_04]: On Philo.
[00:29:36] [SPEAKER_06]: On Philo, you type in the Food Network, and it's right there.
[00:29:39] [SPEAKER_06]: I gotta be honest.
[00:29:39] [SPEAKER_04]: We didn't mention this yet, but playing...
[00:29:41] [SPEAKER_04]: I think the card game was one of the highlights of the marathon.
[00:29:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, yeah.
[00:29:44] [SPEAKER_04]: You're right.
[00:29:44] [SPEAKER_06]: Christmas Movie Magic.
[00:29:45] [SPEAKER_04]: Christmas Movie Magic.
[00:29:46] [SPEAKER_04]: Come back next week.
[00:29:47] [SPEAKER_04]: It is...
[00:29:48] [SPEAKER_04]: If you are competitive like me and don't want to play just for fun or for the love of the
[00:29:52] [SPEAKER_04]: game, but you actually want to win the game, I'm telling you right now, go to one.
[00:29:56] [SPEAKER_04]: There it is.
[00:29:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Christmas...
[00:29:59] [SPEAKER_04]: This card game is a blast.
[00:30:00] [SPEAKER_04]: Megan, we gotta send you one of these.
[00:30:01] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, my goodness.
[00:30:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I was just...
[00:30:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Actually, I was about to order it.
[00:30:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[00:30:05] [SPEAKER_06]: Well, don't...
[00:30:05] [SPEAKER_06]: We'll just send you one.
[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_06]: We'll just send you...
[00:30:08] [SPEAKER_06]: We'll send them to sign one.
[00:30:08] [SPEAKER_04]: You're not gonna get it for a week if you order it right now.
[00:30:10] [SPEAKER_04]: That's right.
[00:30:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Right.
[00:30:11] [SPEAKER_04]: We can send two.
[00:30:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Because then I'll come out towards the end.
[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[00:30:13] [SPEAKER_03]: It's so much fun.
[00:30:14] [SPEAKER_03]: You guys want to watch.
[00:30:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, my gosh.
[00:30:15] [SPEAKER_04]: We had the best time playing.
[00:30:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Don't do a marathon and prepare for a podcast recording and play at the same time if you don't
[00:30:21] [SPEAKER_03]: have to.
[00:30:21] [SPEAKER_03]: It's tough to take notes and play.
[00:30:22] [SPEAKER_03]: But...
[00:30:22] [SPEAKER_04]: If you're just watching for leisure, it's amazing.
[00:30:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:30:25] [SPEAKER_06]: It's a leisure watch game for sure.
[00:30:27] [SPEAKER_04]: And I won, and I do want to make that very clear.
[00:30:31] [SPEAKER_06]: Say what?
[00:30:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it'll be a hot, frosty game.
[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_06]: Yes.
[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_06]: For sure.
[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_06]: A hot, frosty game.
[00:30:36] [SPEAKER_06]: 100%.
[00:30:36] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
[00:30:36] [SPEAKER_06]: Definitely a hot, frosty game.
[00:30:38] [SPEAKER_06]: Let's take a quick break.
[00:30:39] [SPEAKER_06]: We'll come back and we'll get to the way, what, and the what, the Hallmark here on Deck
[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_06]: the Hallmark.
[00:30:52] [SPEAKER_06]: Hello, everybody.
[00:30:53] [SPEAKER_06]: Welcome back to Deck the Hallmark.
[00:30:55] [SPEAKER_06]: We're here with the Girls Gone Hallmark.
[00:30:57] [SPEAKER_06]: It's a crossover.
[00:30:58] [SPEAKER_06]: Wah, wah, wah.
[00:31:04] [SPEAKER_05]: I think it was the perfect one.
[00:31:06] [SPEAKER_05]: I apologize.
[00:31:08] [SPEAKER_06]: That's what I'm trying to do.
[00:31:10] [SPEAKER_04]: Let's get to the way, what, is when we talk about...
[00:31:12] [SPEAKER_04]: We're the big dogs of the Hallmark podcast space.
[00:31:15] [SPEAKER_04]: That's right, huh?
[00:31:16] [SPEAKER_06]: That's what I've heard.
[00:31:17] [SPEAKER_06]: From your lips to God's ears.
[00:31:18] [SPEAKER_01]: We didn't have a soundboard.
[00:31:21] [SPEAKER_06]: Let's get to the way, what, so I'll start with you, Brian.
[00:31:23] [SPEAKER_06]: What in the movie made you go, what?
[00:31:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Substantial number.
[00:31:26] [SPEAKER_03]: I'll limit myself to keep things moving.
[00:31:29] [SPEAKER_03]: The Scouts all have a uniform.
[00:31:31] [SPEAKER_03]: They all stand in what looks to be like a certain stance or a pose or like they're at
[00:31:37] [SPEAKER_03]: attention, right?
[00:31:37] [SPEAKER_03]: They're all like very...
[00:31:39] [SPEAKER_03]: They have rules is the point.
[00:31:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:31:40] [SPEAKER_03]: But there are no rules on their shoes, it looks like.
[00:31:43] [SPEAKER_03]: They're all...
[00:31:44] [SPEAKER_03]: It's like the weirdest thing.
[00:31:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Everything is defined about their uniform and how they're supposed to look, but they're
[00:31:50] [SPEAKER_03]: all...
[00:31:50] [SPEAKER_03]: You can wear any shoes or sneakers or boots or whatever you want, and it's just a little
[00:31:54] [SPEAKER_03]: distracting when you're looking at a really cool sea of Scouts.
[00:31:58] [SPEAKER_03]: And then you just see like 40 different shoes on the floor.
[00:32:01] [SPEAKER_03]: You want all the Scouts to have matching shoes.
[00:32:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Just the same color, maybe.
[00:32:04] [SPEAKER_03]: For just a regular monthly meeting.
[00:32:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Just for...
[00:32:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Grab some black or white or yellow or whatever.
[00:32:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Anything in that range.
[00:32:11] [SPEAKER_03]: It's just something that is just not all different.
[00:32:14] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
[00:32:15] [SPEAKER_03]: It looked a little weird to me.
[00:32:17] [SPEAKER_04]: You don't think that's a big deal?
[00:32:19] [SPEAKER_04]: I didn't think it was a big deal at all, and you know how I feel about shoes.
[00:32:22] [SPEAKER_04]: It's crazy that this was...
[00:32:24] [SPEAKER_04]: You said you had a boatload and you went with that one.
[00:32:26] [SPEAKER_04]: No, it wasn't.
[00:32:27] [SPEAKER_04]: It seems like that's bottom of the barrel stuff.
[00:32:29] [SPEAKER_04]: It's like it goes in your arms and beer.
[00:32:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Can you believe this?
[00:32:31] [SPEAKER_03]: It's just a uniform.
[00:32:32] [SPEAKER_03]: I just feel like a uniform should be uniform a little bit more.
[00:32:35] [SPEAKER_03]: A uniform should be uniform.
[00:32:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:32:37] [SPEAKER_03]: So, boy, Brooklyn moved on from her dad pretty quick.
[00:32:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Pretty quickly.
[00:32:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Pretty quickly.
[00:32:41] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, her dad, just not even a kid.
[00:32:44] [SPEAKER_03]: She's like, I love these bear claws.
[00:32:46] [SPEAKER_03]: What do you want me to do?
[00:32:46] [SPEAKER_03]: I got to get Sir Bakes a Bunch in the family.
[00:32:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Sir Bakes a Bunch.
[00:32:50] [SPEAKER_06]: How many are you baking bunches?
[00:32:51] [SPEAKER_06]: I didn't think so.
[00:32:52] [SPEAKER_06]: I mean, have you met Dakota?
[00:32:53] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[00:32:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:32:54] [SPEAKER_04]: I know that.
[00:32:55] [SPEAKER_04]: You love Dakota.
[00:32:56] [SPEAKER_04]: I think the problem is you haven't moved on from Dakota.
[00:32:59] [SPEAKER_03]: I think Dakota was a fun time for me is what it was.
[00:33:02] [SPEAKER_03]: My last, wait, what?
[00:33:03] [SPEAKER_03]: I'll stop with this one.
[00:33:04] [SPEAKER_03]: He said this line and I loved it.
[00:33:07] [SPEAKER_03]: It was phenomenal.
[00:33:08] [SPEAKER_03]: He goes, from the Greek, Angelos meaning from the gods.
[00:33:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Angela and angel from the gods.
[00:33:14] [SPEAKER_03]: There were only three unique words in that sentence.
[00:33:19] [SPEAKER_03]: I listened to it multiple times.
[00:33:21] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, I got to write this down.
[00:33:22] [SPEAKER_03]: That's a good way what?
[00:33:23] [SPEAKER_03]: The number of words in that.
[00:33:25] [SPEAKER_03]: That's a good way what?
[00:33:25] [SPEAKER_03]: He strung together what sounds great.
[00:33:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Give it to me one more time.
[00:33:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Give it to me one more time.
[00:33:29] [SPEAKER_03]: From the Greek, Angelos meaning from the gods.
[00:33:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Angela and angel from the gods.
[00:33:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Poetry.
[00:33:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Three unique words in that sentence.
[00:33:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Phenomenal work.
[00:33:41] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, man.
[00:33:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Megan?
[00:33:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, this is so annoying, but I'm really bothered by the fact that the gingerbread man cookie was in fact a sugar cookie with gingerbread man icing on it and not an actual gingerbread cookie.
[00:33:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Boy.
[00:33:58] [SPEAKER_01]: This was like one of the main characters of the movie and they couldn't even.
[00:34:01] [SPEAKER_04]: You can't do that in a baking movie.
[00:34:04] [SPEAKER_04]: You can get away with that if the movie's about holiday crashing.
[00:34:07] [SPEAKER_04]: You can't do that in a baking movie.
[00:34:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Nope.
[00:34:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Not if you're going to talk about gingerbread cookies more than you talk about anything else in the movie.
[00:34:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:34:15] [SPEAKER_00]: My way at the wet was when we first meet Dakota on the Zoom call, he seems so loving as like this great dad blowing kisses and all this stuff.
[00:34:26] [SPEAKER_00]: I just was like, oh, I love him.
[00:34:27] [SPEAKER_00]: And then he comes and he's a super creep.
[00:34:30] [SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, what?
[00:34:32] [SPEAKER_00]: The total juxtaposition between like these two different characters.
[00:34:36] [SPEAKER_00]: I, he was not great.
[00:34:40] [SPEAKER_04]: No, no.
[00:34:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Unless you're Brian and he was wonderful.
[00:34:42] [SPEAKER_03]: He just, he needs to be back in the field.
[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_03]: That's all.
[00:34:45] [SPEAKER_03]: He's just getting antsy.
[00:34:46] [SPEAKER_03]: That's all.
[00:34:47] [SPEAKER_03]: He's getting antsy.
[00:34:48] [SPEAKER_03]: All right.
[00:34:49] [SPEAKER_03]: That's fair enough.
[00:34:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Anything else from y'all?
[00:34:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, uh, I did think as much as I felt like this movie was very hallmark formulaic, there was one moment where it flipped on the head very slightly.
[00:35:02] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's when Netta spies Angela kissing Dakota.
[00:35:06] [SPEAKER_01]: And in that moment, the classic moment would have been her running back with the misunderstanding to William and like, she's kissing the ex-husband.
[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Instead, she's like, hey, pull your head out of your butt and figure this out.
[00:35:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And so I appreciated that they surprised me there.
[00:35:22] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, they surprised me too.
[00:35:23] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
[00:35:23] [SPEAKER_06]: They surprised me too.
[00:35:24] [SPEAKER_06]: I expected that as well.
[00:35:25] [SPEAKER_06]: Um, I have a few.
[00:35:27] [SPEAKER_06]: One, I did get a kick out of the first like 15 minutes of this movie is all about how busy Angela is.
[00:35:33] [SPEAKER_06]: Her house couldn't be more decorated for Christmas.
[00:35:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, yeah.
[00:35:36] [SPEAKER_06]: Not just, not just inside, which we've come to expect, but outside looks amazing.
[00:35:40] [SPEAKER_06]: And so, uh, I appreciate that you're never too busy for Christmas.
[00:35:45] [SPEAKER_06]: Um, she goes to, uh, you know, Tucker child into bed and she's like, are we ready for a book?
[00:35:52] [SPEAKER_06]: And, uh, Brooklyn goes, can we do that thing where I ask you questions?
[00:35:57] [SPEAKER_06]: And I love that.
[00:35:59] [SPEAKER_06]: That means that we have two options in this house.
[00:36:02] [SPEAKER_06]: It's book or questions.
[00:36:04] [SPEAKER_06]: And they're never going to be never at the same time.
[00:36:08] [SPEAKER_06]: Never at the same time.
[00:36:09] [SPEAKER_04]: Six year olds never ask questions.
[00:36:11] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
[00:36:11] [SPEAKER_06]: That's the best part about having kids is how they never ask questions.
[00:36:15] [SPEAKER_06]: They know when they're not.
[00:36:17] [SPEAKER_06]: They never wait for questions.
[00:36:19] [SPEAKER_06]: The best part that when, when, when they're trying to get it, when you're trying to get them to go to bed,
[00:36:22] [SPEAKER_06]: they're never stalling.
[00:36:23] [SPEAKER_06]: They never stall.
[00:36:25] [SPEAKER_06]: They're never like, Oh, here's a question about, you know, world peace.
[00:36:29] [SPEAKER_06]: World peace.
[00:36:29] [SPEAKER_06]: Like what's going on overseas?
[00:36:31] [SPEAKER_06]: What's going on with the war?
[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_06]: Like, just like, as if you care, you don't.
[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, school overseas.
[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Book or questions.
[00:36:40] [SPEAKER_04]: If we did book or questions and my kids chose questions, we would never go to bed.
[00:36:44] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[00:36:44] [SPEAKER_04]: Never go to bed.
[00:36:45] [SPEAKER_06]: It would be, it would be.
[00:36:46] [SPEAKER_06]: But also, uh, is she allowed to ask questions if it's not bedtime or does she like, mom, I have a question.
[00:36:52] [SPEAKER_06]: Wait until the designated time.
[00:36:55] [SPEAKER_06]: And then we will get to those questions.
[00:36:57] [SPEAKER_06]: Um, I, I loved that.
[00:37:00] [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, there was a line in here about, um, uh, a street fight, uh, a knife fight with the jets, uh, and the sharks, which means that she's not a jet or a shark.
[00:37:18] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
[00:37:20] [SPEAKER_06]: Free agent.
[00:37:21] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm a jet shark free agent.
[00:37:22] [SPEAKER_06]: I could be persuaded either way.
[00:37:24] [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, I think so.
[00:37:25] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm ready.
[00:37:26] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm ready to go.
[00:37:27] [SPEAKER_06]: I, I, I, but again, I don't have any allegiance to either team.
[00:37:30] [SPEAKER_06]: I could go, I could go either way.
[00:37:32] [SPEAKER_04]: Uh, Dana.
[00:37:33] [SPEAKER_04]: Uh, yeah.
[00:37:33] [SPEAKER_04]: A couple more just briefly.
[00:37:35] [SPEAKER_04]: Uh, I believe it's the daughter that says, or someone in the movie says that Brooklyn is the only daughter that the only scout that's ever late to a meeting.
[00:37:44] [SPEAKER_04]: And I'm calling BS on that as someone who likes to be on time and notices how many people aren't on time on a regular basis.
[00:37:52] [SPEAKER_04]: And as someone who was around a school for 20 years and watched as 30 to 50% of people show up on time, don't show up on time regularly.
[00:38:02] [SPEAKER_04]: The idea that this scout troop has a meeting every month or every week or whatever.
[00:38:08] [SPEAKER_04]: And the only person ever late is her.
[00:38:11] [SPEAKER_04]: There's just no way.
[00:38:12] [SPEAKER_04]: There's just no way in the world that that's the case.
[00:38:14] [SPEAKER_04]: And it felt personal.
[00:38:16] [SPEAKER_04]: It felt like they were just singling them out for, for, to, you know, to be that person.
[00:38:20] [SPEAKER_04]: Um, my other two big ones come from when Carlo marks Sir bakes a bunch, as we call them in the industry has to, for lack of a better word, audition his cupcakes for the Girl Scouts ball.
[00:38:34] [SPEAKER_04]: Um, it's a protocol.
[00:38:36] [SPEAKER_04]: No, number one.
[00:38:39] [SPEAKER_04]: What, um, what are we doing?
[00:38:41] [SPEAKER_04]: What, what are we, you are, you run a business in town.
[00:38:46] [SPEAKER_04]: This is silly.
[00:38:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Like this is silly.
[00:38:48] [SPEAKER_04]: But number two, he does bring a board with him for the audition.
[00:38:53] [SPEAKER_04]: And the comment of den mommy is that it, the board's not Christmassy enough guys.
[00:38:59] [SPEAKER_04]: There's not a fundamental way.
[00:39:01] [SPEAKER_04]: It could have been more Christmas on brands.
[00:39:04] [SPEAKER_04]: Best day music.
[00:39:05] [SPEAKER_04]: He would have been at a loss that it was like Christmas threw up all over that board.
[00:39:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Like it was a 4d performance.
[00:39:13] [SPEAKER_04]: I could smell it through my TV, which isn't supposed to be invented for years.
[00:39:16] [SPEAKER_04]: 41.
[00:39:17] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, 41.
[00:39:18] [SPEAKER_06]: Smell-o-vision.
[00:39:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Just the audacity to question the performances not being Christmassy enough.
[00:39:24] [SPEAKER_04]: You have lost your mind.
[00:39:26] [SPEAKER_04]: It was so Christmassy.
[00:39:28] [SPEAKER_04]: No way, no how.
[00:39:29] [SPEAKER_06]: Hey, Megan and Wendy, when do you guys think that smell-o-vision is going to be invented?
[00:39:33] [SPEAKER_06]: Do you have an idea?
[00:39:34] [SPEAKER_04]: When do you think we're going to be able to watch our TV and smell the smells of TV?
[00:39:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[00:39:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
[00:39:38] [SPEAKER_01]: We know what smell-o-vision is.
[00:39:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, good.
[00:39:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully never.
[00:39:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, that sounds like my absolute worst nightmare.
[00:39:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Really?
[00:39:45] [SPEAKER_01]: You don't think it's-
[00:39:46] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it could be.
[00:39:47] [SPEAKER_03]: It could go bad.
[00:39:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely.
[00:39:49] [SPEAKER_03]: It could go bad.
[00:39:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:39:50] [SPEAKER_03]: 100%.
[00:39:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I have this weird glitch in my brain where if somebody is smoking on television or in
[00:39:55] [SPEAKER_01]: a movie, I feel like I can smell it happening.
[00:39:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh.
[00:39:59] [SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, I don't want that.
[00:40:01] [SPEAKER_06]: Maybe it actually has been invented, but you just are the only one that has it.
[00:40:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:40:06] [SPEAKER_06]: And it's only for smoke.
[00:40:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Look, I'm sitting here imagining the Sir Bakes-A-Lot board instead of being like a foam
[00:40:12] [SPEAKER_01]: board.
[00:40:13] [SPEAKER_01]: He really should have made a giant sugar cookie display to pitch his business.
[00:40:18] [SPEAKER_01]: That's a great one.
[00:40:19] [SPEAKER_01]: That's really all he could have done.
[00:40:19] [SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
[00:40:21] [SPEAKER_06]: Let's get to what the hallmark is, where we wonder what could have been, maybe happened
[00:40:24] [SPEAKER_06]: that would give clarity to any questions that we still have.
[00:40:27] [SPEAKER_06]: Basically, what are you still wondering about?
[00:40:28] [SPEAKER_06]: Brian, any questions?
[00:40:29] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
[00:40:30] [SPEAKER_06]: Any questions you have?
[00:40:31] [SPEAKER_03]: You know that bench that Angela had?
[00:40:34] [SPEAKER_03]: I know the photo you're talking about.
[00:40:34] [SPEAKER_04]: It was 100% not painted or put like they just got a poster.
[00:40:39] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that one.
[00:40:39] [SPEAKER_04]: That one, yeah.
[00:40:40] [SPEAKER_04]: The promo.
[00:40:41] [SPEAKER_04]: And zip-tied it.
[00:40:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, at best.
[00:40:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:40:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Do you think that was Tia or Tamara?
[00:40:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, why would they?
[00:40:48] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
[00:40:48] [SPEAKER_03]: There's one of the sisters.
[00:40:50] [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, could have been.
[00:40:51] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, but you swapped.
[00:40:53] [SPEAKER_04]: Sister, sister.
[00:40:55] [SPEAKER_04]: Also, they're not really close anymore.
[00:40:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but it could have been her.
[00:40:59] [SPEAKER_02]: I was just going to say.
[00:41:00] [SPEAKER_02]: No, they're not.
[00:41:01] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't think Tia's grabbing you to train to do Tamara.
[00:41:04] [SPEAKER_03]: My real one is why William didn't just have a lawyer look at that contract.
[00:41:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Why is he goofing around?
[00:41:10] [SPEAKER_04]: I almost, for time, I didn't say my last wait what, which was my man had to sign his full name in a document in four different pages and he didn't read it.
[00:41:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Or understand what he did read.
[00:41:22] [SPEAKER_04]: He didn't do anything.
[00:41:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Brutal.
[00:41:24] [SPEAKER_06]: My real estate agent friend gave it a look over.
[00:41:26] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
[00:41:26] [SPEAKER_06]: And I think that's good enough for me.
[00:41:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Who is a very busy single mom in the middle of a crisis with a den mommy.
[00:41:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but it's good.
[00:41:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Plenty of time.
[00:41:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:41:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Megan and Wendy.
[00:41:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:41:36] [SPEAKER_01]: My what the hallmark is who do I need to send a gingerbread sugar cookie to to get them to plan a holiday event that is not two days before Christmas.
[00:41:42] [SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
[00:41:43] [SPEAKER_04]: I love that for us.
[00:41:44] [SPEAKER_04]: For all of us.
[00:41:45] [SPEAKER_04]: So we're all wondering.
[00:41:46] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[00:41:46] [SPEAKER_04]: For sure.
[00:41:46] [SPEAKER_04]: As soon as you see 23rd on the calendar, Brian.
[00:41:49] [SPEAKER_04]: I mean.
[00:41:50] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, we're busy.
[00:41:51] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not coming.
[00:41:53] [SPEAKER_06]: No.
[00:41:54] [SPEAKER_06]: Not coming.
[00:41:54] [SPEAKER_06]: Not coming.
[00:41:55] [SPEAKER_06]: Wendy?
[00:41:56] [SPEAKER_00]: My.
[00:41:57] [SPEAKER_00]: She invites him to spend the holidays with their family at the very end.
[00:42:02] [SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, yo, didn't you guys just meet each other three weeks ago?
[00:42:05] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, take a breath.
[00:42:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I don't understand.
[00:42:10] [SPEAKER_00]: I hate these like forced, you know, big moments that they have.
[00:42:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:42:17] [SPEAKER_06]: That you.
[00:42:18] [SPEAKER_06]: It is possible to go from, you know, not talking, not heading towards a relationship and then deciding, I think I want to give this a shot without inviting them to spend the most important holiday of the year.
[00:42:32] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
[00:42:32] [SPEAKER_06]: Like it is possible.
[00:42:33] [SPEAKER_06]: It is an option.
[00:42:34] [SPEAKER_06]: You don't have to.
[00:42:35] [SPEAKER_06]: You don't have to.
[00:42:36] [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, what was worse?
[00:42:37] [SPEAKER_04]: What's worse that or doing the I love you bit that they sometimes do?
[00:42:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[00:42:42] [SPEAKER_04]: They're both terrible.
[00:42:43] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm glad they didn't say I love you.
[00:42:44] [SPEAKER_06]: That would have been unfortunate.
[00:42:46] [SPEAKER_06]: I love you.
[00:42:47] [SPEAKER_06]: To my stomach.
[00:42:48] [SPEAKER_06]: So the scout meeting takes place in a room.
[00:42:54] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
[00:42:55] [SPEAKER_06]: And then mommy stands on stairs as if it's a stage and behind her are doors and the doors are frosted.
[00:43:06] [SPEAKER_06]: My big question.
[00:43:07] [SPEAKER_06]: Are those doors there for what doors are there for to go in and out of?
[00:43:13] [SPEAKER_06]: Because everyone knows to come into the scout meeting from the back of the room.
[00:43:17] [SPEAKER_06]: You don't use those doors because then mommy is using that platform as stage.
[00:43:23] [SPEAKER_06]: So you have to walk around the building, I presume, to go into the other entrance.
[00:43:29] [SPEAKER_06]: So what you're saying is you want to see the front of the building.
[00:43:31] [SPEAKER_06]: I would like to see blueprints at the very least.
[00:43:36] [SPEAKER_06]: Maybe we can get the blueprints that we had in the first movie.
[00:43:40] [SPEAKER_06]: Twas the date.
[00:43:42] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
[00:43:43] [SPEAKER_06]: Maybe those blueprints.
[00:43:44] [SPEAKER_06]: Get those blueprints in there.
[00:43:45] [SPEAKER_06]: We can mix use it.
[00:43:47] [SPEAKER_06]: And maybe get rid of the...
[00:43:49] [SPEAKER_06]: What if we just made it a stage altogether instead of having doors?
[00:43:54] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
[00:43:54] [SPEAKER_06]: It's just an idea.
[00:43:55] [SPEAKER_04]: Dan?
[00:43:56] [SPEAKER_04]: I have this as what the homework, not wait what, because I'm sure there is an answer.
[00:44:00] [SPEAKER_04]: But what is the difference between a hot chocolate cupcake and a chocolate cupcake?
[00:44:08] [SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
[00:44:09] [SPEAKER_02]: It's not...
[00:44:10] [SPEAKER_03]: The cupcake is not scalding.
[00:44:12] [SPEAKER_03]: I think the filling.
[00:44:13] [SPEAKER_03]: It's probably a filling in the hot chocolate one.
[00:44:15] [SPEAKER_03]: That's still just chocolate, right?
[00:44:17] [SPEAKER_03]: It's still just a chocolate cupcake.
[00:44:18] [SPEAKER_03]: It's probably like a ganache.
[00:44:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but a regular chocolate cupcake wouldn't have a filling, I would guess.
[00:44:22] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
[00:44:23] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
[00:44:23] [SPEAKER_03]: That is a good kind.
[00:44:24] [SPEAKER_03]: And you don't know.
[00:44:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.
[00:44:25] [SPEAKER_03]: That's a good question, though, because it could be the same thing.
[00:44:30] [SPEAKER_04]: I just...
[00:44:31] [SPEAKER_04]: I have a problem.
[00:44:32] [SPEAKER_06]: We had a...
[00:44:33] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, so producer Aaron just pulled up a picture.
[00:44:36] [SPEAKER_06]: That kind of looks like a hot chocolate.
[00:44:38] [SPEAKER_06]: That looks like a cup of hot chocolate.
[00:44:39] [SPEAKER_06]: That's a candy cane on the side.
[00:44:40] [SPEAKER_03]: That's a cool looking cup.
[00:44:41] [SPEAKER_06]: And then they kind of got the marshmallow on the top.
[00:44:43] [SPEAKER_06]: I could buy it as what it looks like.
[00:44:45] [SPEAKER_06]: It's what it looks like.
[00:44:46] [SPEAKER_04]: Now I'm on board.
[00:44:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Because we had...
[00:44:48] [SPEAKER_04]: I think hot chocolate just being thrown around in places that has no business being...
[00:44:52] [SPEAKER_04]: That's what...
[00:44:53] [SPEAKER_04]: This weekend...
[00:44:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Impossible, first of all.
[00:44:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Who made the frozen...
[00:44:56] [SPEAKER_04]: The...
[00:44:57] [SPEAKER_06]: A whole bag of people worked on Elizabeth.
[00:44:59] [SPEAKER_04]: We were given by our support crew at the marathon, best in the biz, a frozen or a cold
[00:45:06] [SPEAKER_04]: hot chocolate.
[00:45:07] [SPEAKER_04]: And it was one of the...
[00:45:08] [SPEAKER_04]: It was the best drink I tasted all weekend.
[00:45:10] [SPEAKER_04]: By a mile.
[00:45:11] [SPEAKER_04]: It was amazing.
[00:45:12] [SPEAKER_04]: I hate the name.
[00:45:13] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't like...
[00:45:14] [SPEAKER_04]: It is...
[00:45:15] [SPEAKER_06]: Cold hot chocolate?
[00:45:16] [SPEAKER_04]: Cold hot chocolate.
[00:45:17] [SPEAKER_04]: What are we doing?
[00:45:17] [SPEAKER_06]: You just call it cold chocolate.
[00:45:18] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
[00:45:18] [SPEAKER_06]: But then you think it's a chocolate bar.
[00:45:21] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, serendipity famously in New York serves a frozen hot chocolate.
[00:45:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[00:45:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:45:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Made famous in the movie.
[00:45:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:45:27] [SPEAKER_06]: I hate it.
[00:45:28] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm just saying I just think we can do better.
[00:45:29] [SPEAKER_06]: I mean, we...
[00:45:30] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
[00:45:30] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't know if you remember, Panda made a frozen hot chocolate on television.
[00:45:33] [SPEAKER_06]: That's right.
[00:45:34] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
[00:45:34] [SPEAKER_06]: And so it's done well for us.
[00:45:36] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
[00:45:37] [SPEAKER_04]: It's been a part of our business for years.
[00:45:38] [SPEAKER_04]: We're in the frozen hot chocolate business, I believe.
[00:45:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, I wish you were.
[00:45:43] [SPEAKER_03]: You're out on it, huh?
[00:45:44] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm out on it.
[00:45:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, boy.
[00:45:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Isn't it in the book?
[00:45:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Wheels are coming off.
[00:45:46] [SPEAKER_04]: It's in the book.
[00:45:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[00:45:47] [SPEAKER_04]: We have a recipe for it in our book.
[00:45:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:45:50] [SPEAKER_04]: On sale wherever you buy books.
[00:45:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:45:52] [SPEAKER_03]: You're anti the recipe in your book.
[00:45:54] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm anti the...
[00:45:55] [SPEAKER_04]: And I probably have a slogan added in the front because Alonzo wrote slogans for all
[00:45:58] [SPEAKER_04]: us.
[00:45:59] [SPEAKER_04]: No, Panda talked about this one.
[00:46:01] [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, this is Panda's friend hot chocolate.
[00:46:01] [SPEAKER_06]: But yeah, there it is.
[00:46:02] [SPEAKER_06]: It's right there.
[00:46:02] [SPEAKER_06]: There you go.
[00:46:03] [SPEAKER_06]: It's clear as crystal.
[00:46:04] [SPEAKER_06]: And fun fact about this frozen hot chocolate, these pictures, the way that they made it look
[00:46:09] [SPEAKER_06]: as good as it looks is because they put a diaper in it.
[00:46:13] [SPEAKER_04]: Is that my...
