BRAN'S MOVIE SYNOPSIS

We’re in Mexico and Nick Fury and Maria Hill are investigating reports of a mysterious storm caused by the Earth Elemental. They are rescued by a super-powered fella named Quentin Beck, who destroys the creature. Nick Fury is impressed.

Back in New York, the school year at Peter’s school has restarted after those erased by Thanos returned five years later. So things are a bit wacky there. Still grieving the death of his mentor, Tony Stark, Peter Parker joins his classmates on a two-week trip across Europe, hoping to tell MJ how he feels about her. Happy tells Peter that Nick Fury is trying to reach him, but Peter ignores the call. He needs a vacay.

The trip’s first stop in Venice, Italy, and it doesn’t go great. A water monster begins to attack the city. Peter secretly helps protect his classmates while our new friend Howard Beck, aka Mysterio, arrives and defeats the monster.

Afterward, Fury shows up to meet Peter and gives him something that Tony wanted to give him - advanced E.D.I.T.H. glasses. Let's jsut say they're very powerful.

Peter declines Fury’s request to join the mission and returns to his classmates, but Fury quietly reroutes the school trip to Prague where, uh oh, the Fire monster attacks. Peter fights alongside Mysterio. Afterwords, Peter and Beck are hanging out and Peter gives Beck E.D.I.T.H. glasses, convinced the world needs a hero like Mysterio more then him.

Once Peter leaves, Beck reveals the truth. The monsters were never real but elaborate holographic illusions created with advanced projection technology by a team of hurt former Stark Industries employees. Fired years earlier for his unstable behavior, Beck orchestrated the attacks to portray himself as the world’s newest superhero. With control of E.D.I.T.H. and its drone arsenal, he plans to create even larger illusions and cement his status as an Avenger-level protector.

After MJ reveals that she knows Peter is Spider-Man, she shows him a damaged projector she recovered from the Prague battle, leading them to realize that Beck is a bad guy. Peter rushes to Berlin to warn Fury, but Beck traps him in a series of illusions.

Peter survives the attack and wakes up in the Netherlands, where he contacts Happy Hogan. Happy flies him to London, where Beck is staging his big illusion. Beck also plans to eliminate Peter’s classmates, fearing they could expose his fraud.

Peter battles through Beck and is able to use his his Spider-Sense to defeat him. He get the E.D.I.T.H. Back and defeats Beck.

, Peter and MJ meet back up and kissss! They get to New York and starts dating which means flying through the streets together. BUT, uh HOH,

TheDailyBugle has some breaking news - Beck has sent a video thet frames Spider-Man for Beck’s death and the London drone attack before revealing Peter Parker’s secret identity to the entire world.

[00:00:03] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast Hi, I'm Bran and I love Marvel movies Hi, I'm Ryan and I like Marvel movies I'm Dan and I despise Marvel movies and this is the Deck The Hallmark Podcast Deck The Hallmark gets this podcast And friends host this podcast

[00:00:29] We hope you like this jolly podcast Can I be open and honest with you guys for a second? Yeah, please do man. I appreciate it, yeah I don't... Let's just do... Let's just do Spider-Man 1, 2, 3, 4, what? Far from Home, No Way, Home, Brand New Day, I don't need all that Just give me the numbers

[00:00:54] Interesting. I think the first three is a trilogy with Home and the title work pretty well to distinguish themselves Especially since... What's the first one? Homecoming Homecoming Yeah Yeah And there's a homecoming or a prom or some sort of dance in it and it's the fact that he's coming home to the Marvel Cinematic Universe There's a lot of... At least I'm to you at large This one is a very literal title Far from Home Yeah, it's very literal

[00:01:20] But also he's in an unrecognizable weird space where he's supposed to be the new Iron Man he thinks he is Yeah, it's a metaphor The third one might have been a bit of a stretch of a title, not gonna lie to you I understand that the titles make sense I just... Can I tell you why I think they did it? I always mix them up in my head and I just want... I just... I just wanna... You can't call them Spider-Man 1, 2, and 3 because we already have Spider-Man 1, 2, and 3 Well, I think the reason they did it is the Sony Spider-Man men, Spider-Man movies were Spider-Man 1, 2, and 3 Exactly

[00:01:47] And then Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Amazing Spider-Man 2 Yes Yeah, I think maybe that's why I'm just like, I know those But also, like you say Spider-Man 2, I know exactly the one you're talking about there Yeah, but so at this point, your point would have had a little more credence, but it would get even more complicated So once you bring Toby and Andrew Garfield in, like now that you're basically saying that all eight of these movies are one cohesive thing So it would be like Scream 5 being called Scream, that still really bothers me

[00:02:17] Yeah, it's so stupid It's so dumb It's so stupid And even after the fact, they haven't changed Scream 5 It's crazy It's Scream 5 It's Scream 5 Don't talk about my credence, okay? But I That's my credence, it's not for you to talk about I think from a, just a means of like keeping them different so we know what we're talking about They needed to be called something, not Spider-Man 1, 2, 3 Yeah, now for a brand new home, excuse me, brand new day Brand new day

[00:02:46] That shows to your point Yeah, now we're kind of off the rails Now we've got to know, it's like James Bond at this point Now we've got to know all of them I mean, they're better than the Spider-Verse movies though, those are a mess, I always mix up Oh, no, into the Spider-Verse, across the Spider-Verse, beyond the Spider-Verse makes perfect sense to me I don't, I It was originally supposed to be across 4, 1, and 4, 2 I cannot tell you what those are Into is the first one, across is the second one, beyond is the third one Beyond is the third one that may never come out But, I mean, I think you're 27, June 27, we got this

[00:03:14] I think you're fair to say in that case, Spider-Verse 1 and Spider-Verse 2, everyone would know what you meant Yeah, right Or you could say the Miles Morales Spider-Man Yeah Yeah Don't worry about this, everything's fine Yeah, yeah I was just trying to be honest and transparent I think it's more convoluted to call this movie Spider-Man 2 Yeah, I would definitely think you were talking about Doc Ock and Tony Arguably the best live action Spider-Man ever I would probably just say, hey, do you want to go watch the Tom Holland Spider-Man 2?

[00:03:43] That's probably what I would say Okay Okay Yeah, but they can't call that that at the movie theater Sure they can, he's the draw Disney Marvel presents the Tom Holland Spider-Man 2 Spider-Man Tom Holland 2 Yeah No, I understand why they did it I just, I can't wrap my head around it It's just too many words, too many names Yeah, no, Spider-Man Tom Holland 2 is a lot quicker and easier on the time Thank you for understanding that and appreciating that Shall we dive in? Let's do it

[00:04:09] Spider-Man Far From Home is what we're talking about today See? Across the home verse Across the home verse Originally premiered at the TCL Chinese Theater Been there, great theater June 26, 2019 And then just a few days later, July 2nd Almost happy anniversary, we just passed it We did the anniversary of this movie just passed Imagine if we recorded it on July 2nd Wow, that would be crazy That would have been nuts

[00:04:38] You mean the date of the City of Greenville fireworks display? Yes, the day of the Greenville I don't want to talk about it City of Greenville shooting off fireworks And their big finale, July 2nd So stupid Semicocentennial And I want a little something It'll be easier when 4th is on a Saturday It'll be easier on those years Oh Oh wait So stupid And I want a little something like this My dog has to endure hell week That's the wrong song Yeah We're in Mexico And Nick Fury and Maria Hill are there

[00:05:07] They're investigating this mysterious storm Which caused a lot of damage there They are rescued though By a super powered fella named Quentin Beck Who destroys the creature no problem Nick Fury quite impressed by this You know, we could use a new superhero Back in New York The school year at Peter's school has restarted After those that were erased by the Thanos situation

[00:05:35] Returned 5 years later Things are a bit wonky there And Peter is still grieving the death of his mentor Tony Stark And so he is going to join his classmates On a 2 week trip across Europe Just, you know, take his mind off things And also hopefully shoot his shot And tell MJ how he feels about her Happy tells Peter that Nick Fury is trying to get a hold of him And Peter's like, you know what? I'll deal with this after vacay Work-life balance

[00:06:04] I see you, Peter I appreciate what you're doing here The trip's first stop is to Venice, Italy And it doesn't go great A water monster begins to attack the city Peter secretly, of course Helps protect his classmates While his new friend, Howard Beck Shows up, aka Mysterio And he arrives to defeat the monster Afterwards, Nick Fury shows up To meet with Peter

[00:06:32] And gives him something that Tony wanted him to have The advanced Edith glasses Let's just say These glasses Are unbelievably powerful Perhaps too powerful for a teenage boy Peter declines Fury's request To join the mission To stop these monsters that are popping up Because he just wants to hang out with his friends But Nick Fury's like, okay We're just going to kind of follow you Where you go, though

[00:07:01] Uh-oh, fire monster Peter fights alongside Mysterio And afterwards, Peter and Beck are hanging out And Peter is listening to Mysterio talk And is like, you know what? You deserve these glasses more than I You're the hero that we need You're the next Iron Man Once Peter leaves Beck reveals the truth To everyone who already knows the truth Which is this

[00:07:31] That the monsters are never real But an elaborate holographic illusion Created by the advanced projection technology You know it, you love it Created by a team of former Hurt Stark Industries employees They've all come together to create this And Beck is orchestrating this whole thing To portray himself as the world's newest superhero He just wants to be an Avenger, okay? With the control of Edith

[00:07:59] And specifically its drones He plans to create a larger illusion To really cement his status as an Avenger-level protector So after MJ reveals to Peter That she knows that he is Spider-Man She shows him a damaged projector That she found after the battle Which leads to them realizing that Beck Is not the next Iron Man In fact, he's bad guy

[00:08:28] He's bad guy He's lying He's putting the wool over my eyes Peter rushes to Berlin To warn Nick Fury about this But then Beck traps him in a series of insane illusions And next thing you know, he's in the Netherlands Brother Talk about a trip, am I right? Oh man This is Saturday already? When he contacts Happy Hogan Happy comes He flies him to London

[00:08:56] Where Mysterio is staging a massive illusion And is also planning to, you know Like, kill Peter's classmates Because that could ruin everything I can't leave any traces Peter battles Mysterio And is able to, at the end of it Use his Spidey sense to defeat him He gets the Edith glasses back And he defeats old Beck over there

[00:09:26] Peter and MJ meet back up And they kiss They get to New York And they start dating Which means, of course, flying through the streets together But, uh-oh The Daily Bugle has some breaking news Beck sent them a video And on the video It basically says that Spider-Man was the reason for Beck's death And the London drone attack Someone has to stop him And also, by the way, Peter Parker's real name I mean, Spider-Man's real name It's Peter Parker

[00:09:56] What a spoiler alert And that, my friends, was Spider-Man Far From Home I almost said no way home We did it Tom Holland Tom Holland Tom Holland Spider-Man 2 You guys get it Rolls off the tongue That's exactly right I can, you know, I shorten it T-H-S-M-2 Yeah T-H-S-M-2 Yeah Yeah You guys know what you love it Alright, let's take a break We'll come back We'll break this movie down Share our thoughts here on Deck the Hallmark

[00:10:30] Welcome back to the Marvel Boys The Marvel Boys That's right I had the same thought when we went to break The Marvel Boys Marvel Boys Marvel Boys Certain circles, yeah The Marvel Boys Marble Boys? We love playing Marbles We love a big Marble hat I will say We're Marble Boys I get on my algorithm Marble races all the time You're so cool, dude I love them Yeah I've never gotten one Really? It says pick a winner And you gotta You pick a winner And then But then It's like a crazy race

[00:10:59] And it's never who you think it's gonna be It's like when they Whoever's out early It's like when they hide the ball Under one of the three helmets At the baseball game On the Jumbo He was doing Jumbotron games On his phone reels That's right Yeah Fantastic Yeah It's that and like Info Wars And I just like go back and forth All right Let's get to our thoughts on this We're gonna start with a hot take We're gonna start with you, Rye Guy TMSM2 What'd you think about it? Yeah This will always have a special place in my heart

[00:11:28] Cause this was my most elaborate MoviePass Heist movie I don't really remember the details Were you guys MoviePass guys? Of course I was paid a tester for MoviePass in 2013 Moody Okay That was my most 30 bucks a month And life was great It worked every time Yeah So I was a movie I was in the thick of MoviePass And I stuck with it Even when it really When they really started to become Like really You know Were you never quite new If you were gonna show up And be able to see your movie Right Times would disappear Cause I had a weird work schedule at the time

[00:11:57] So I was finding really I don't remember what hacks I had to do at the time But I can remember vaguely That like One of the things I would do And I did it for this film Except this one really went crazy Is I would like Buy the I would go to the theater At like 2 o'clock In the afternoon 7 o'clock And MoviePass would work And I think I would buy a ticket For that afternoon Right MoviePass MoviePass I knew the screening wouldn't Yeah go ahead They would always start the day working Yeah And then by like the mid-afternoon It would stop

[00:12:26] And so if you knew That you could make it happen You go in the morning You get your ticket And that was really the only way To guarantee Yourself a MoviePass ticket Right So I was very proud of myself This one A lot of calamities happened But I made it happen So I think I was like On a euphoric high Once sitting down In the theater I will also say I don't really Dan has done a very good job Of telling us Like when phase one Ended and phase two Throughout all of this I never really cared About the phases so much But I always thought It was an odd choice

[00:12:56] That this was the end Of phase three or four Whichever one And then No Way Home Is the end of the next one I believe Right Now listen I guess you could argue That endgame Is the final chapter And this is like Kind of a lighter epilogue To phase three or four Whichever phase we were on But you would just kind of think That endgame Would end a phase But really neither here nor there This ends phase three Yeah Okay I couldn't remember It was three or four I feel like reviews on this film To get to the movie Have become mixed Over the years But I don't know I like it

[00:13:26] It's light It's fun Maybe those are problems For people And I get it I think Mysterio Is a good villain In the sense that He's very unlikable But unlikable In the way we're supposed To unlike him I would say The stakes aren't Incredibly high here But unlike the Ant-Man films Which I am higher on Than both of you I believe Yes This at least has Like some arms Attached to the broader MCU Where our problem With Ant-Man and the Wasp Was until the post-credits scene

[00:13:55] It was such a self-contained story That none of us Even remembered the character That is a main character In Thunderbolts Right? It's like It's a very forgettable film At the time I thought this movie Illustrated the blip And like Like oh At the time I was like That's a good way Because like That was I think A big question For a lot of people Was like How do you keep Making movies After Endgame Even beyond the obvious Of like It feels like The series finale But like How do you illustrate And tell the story Of the blip I thought this was good

[00:14:24] At the time As the years have gone on And some of the MCU shows On Disney Plus Have honestly Done a bit of a better job Of like Actually exploring Like what the real gravity Of it would Looking like If five years happened And people just suddenly Disappeared and reappeared So I think that plays A little tough on a rewatch But I don't know Most of the emotional beats In the second hour work I would say that The other argument Against this film Is that nothing In the first hour You could argue Really matters Like you know It's really all set up To the second hour

[00:14:55] But the third act Lance for me The cliffhanger Was a really big deal In theaters brand And I have this 12th overall 12th overall Okay 12th out of 23 So right in the middle Right smack dab Okay I love Spider-Man He's my favorite character I think we all know that And so I watch this movie I have a blast With this movie And I'm not one To go into the movie theater And try to Think about Why this movie matters

[00:15:24] In the grand screen Of the MCU But I have to do that For what we're doing here And so When comparing it To other movies That matter more It takes a bit of a hit And then obviously When you think a little bit Too much about The The projection of it all That takes a hit So just as a Fun time Good time Your boy brand loves it And I really enjoy Watching this movie But you know I gotta do what I gotta do And this is This is the task at hand

[00:15:54] And so I Like the movies It is Like this universe The Spider-Man Is always gonna be fun Like He's a fun character Like they start off With a A tribute To Iron Man Made in like Windows Movie Maker And I love it It's so like It's just Like they take Such a serious thing Like a tribute To Tony Stark And they make it fun So I will say Though Ryguy You said that the stakes Aren't high Which I understand Why you say that

[00:16:24] But at the same time The Edith glasses Getting in the hands Of the wrong person Could be a catastrophe The power that Those glasses have We just came off The universe dying Sure Absolutely But like So In I see what you're saying Yes But after coming off Of Endgame It just It does not We just came off Of a much more Severe set of In the last movie But like There's a point In this movie Where Peter Not realizing it Almost kills a kid Like

[00:16:53] Because he says Yeah Get rid of him Like he's a target Yeah So like That could be bad Real bad Like If you want to Kill everybody On the earth I bet you could With the Edith glasses Like the parameters Aren't very clear there And so You know But yes I have this movie At 17 On my list 17 on my list Real quick Sorry I forgot to mention I'm sure Daniel I'm sure you'll elaborate on this The projection stuff Makes no sense It is

[00:17:22] It is virtually impossible To defend How this villain operates It's virtually impossible To explain it So I can Because Go ahead Dan But like For It's They're both projections But also possibly So there are millions Of drones That are simultaneously Projecting a monster And doing real destruction Exactly So the same drone That has a Projection system Has guns Or bombs And they're really Blowing up the buildings

[00:17:51] In real time As this fake hologram Is hitting it And it is supposed To look seamless Right That's what's supposed To be happening here But it's all an oxymoron Because ultimately It's either fake Or it's not Right It's like Because real destruction Is happening Those 2,000 year old Buildings in Italy Are going down Yeah Exactly But not by a real Water monster Right By a fake one Yeah Go ahead Dan Yeah Or you were done I'm not Yeah so the The beauty of Spider-Man as a character

[00:18:21] Is that the floor Is so incredibly high I think Bran spoke to that Pretty well I think Spider-Man is the Ultimate superhero That you show up And you know There's going to be A very baseline Of entertainment That it will clear Every time And if you add To that The fact that I do believe Tom Holland To be the All around Best version Of this character And I also believe

[00:18:51] Zendaya to be The best version Of Mary Jane You have The components To make a movie That is Is kind of Unflappable It is going No matter the villain No matter what Goes on outside Of those things Because you have All of those things Spider-Man The character The way that he is In this universe Plus the actors That you have There is a bar That it will Definitely clear Boy does this movie Try not to clear it

[00:19:22] Tries desperately Not to clear it This is an Entertaining movie And I can't I thought I was Going to have it Way lower than Everybody else Because I don't Like this movie But I have it at 17 where Bran Has it Because it does Clear that Entertainment hurdle That you know In my opinion Guardians 2 Dark World The Ant-Man movies Don't clear Like this movie Clears But this movie Is problematic From beginning to end This is the worst Villain I think maybe We've seen

[00:19:51] I The first time I watched This movie I was like Man I love Jake Gyllenhaal He was terrible That's what I The first time I watched the movie I left going Jake Gyllenhaal Is one of my Favorite actors Prisoners One of my Favorite movies Dennis Villeneuve's Enemy Sneaky good movie Like Jake Gyllenhaal Is great He was so bad In this movie Watching it again I think it's just The writing And the villain I don't think Anybody could play This villain And it be Good I think it's

[00:20:21] An out and out Terrible villain I want to make That clear I also think That Spider-Man The reason that Spider-Man works Is because At the end of the day Spider-Man takes Itself very Seriously I know that You're going to Be like Wait a minute Spider-Man's Goofy He's high school But at the end Of the day From Tobey Maguire To Andrew Garfield To Spider-Man Homecoming Those movies Are funny In spurts But they take Themselves And the villains And the neighborhood That Spider-Man's Protecting

[00:20:50] Almost serious To a fault Right Like that's what Makes it fun Is it's amusing For us But to Peter Parker It's very Very very serious This movie Does not This movie Does not Take much Seriously And it's Because it's Villain Is a goofy Clown act And that Hurts it Do you know What really Helps it Zendaya And Tom Holland Oh my god They're unbelievable Zendaya's screen time Is criminally low In this movie Those two should Get married They should They should Maybe at least Date You know what I mean At the very least See where things go

[00:21:20] Their chemistry Is undeniable They're great This movie Is a bunch Of psych Gags And jokes That don't Belong in a Spider-Man movie And I know that On the surface When you think of Spider-Man You think funny It's just not true That Spider-Man Lives in a world Where it is intimate And small And neighborhood But very very Serious The consequences Are serious And the actions Are serious And the jokes Are side pieces In this movie The jokes Are center stage The villain Is a laugh That's not supposed To be there

[00:21:49] And the movie Is not good This is Out of Three Six Eight Ten Spider-Man movies Including the Two Miles Morales Movies This is the Ninth best Spider-Man movie There is only Spider-Man 3 Yes Spider-Man 3 Is the only Spider-Man movie I have below this It is in my opinion A bad Spider-Man movie But is it entertaining I don't disagree I think it is entertaining I think there are spurts To this movie Where like If you're in the theater You got your popcorn To Bran's point Who cares So Cause I thought

[00:22:19] I was gonna have it Probably 21 But after re-watching Some of these movies I have it at 17 Oh I have it at 17 So I have it the same place You do That's exactly right You thought we were Gonna hold hands And I'm sorry I thought we would It's my fault So yeah Not good Worst Spider-Man movie Aside from the third Tobey Maguire Spider-Man Or TMSM 3 As we call it But yeah So we're here We did it And also Maybe this doesn't help it To your point Ryguy If I If you I'm sorry I don't mean to correct you So that's just SM3

[00:22:48] That's Spider-Man 3 It came first I understand And then it's T-H-S-M-3 I said I said Aside from the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man 3 Or as we're calling it now TMSM 3 But I'm just saying You know You don't have to do that Thank you So if you say Spider-Man 3 If it's Tobey Maguire It's just SM3 You're giving him Credence of being the original He's the original You don't have to do that T-H-S-M-3 Is what I need to say T-H-S-M-3 That's not more What we're going to review Convoluted at all But to your point Ryguy The first two phases Of Marvel movies Had six movies each

[00:23:17] Six movies each The phases After phase three Phase four Has I think six Phase five Has six Phase six Is gonna It has four And then The future films There's only five Movies These phases Don't make any sense They don't But they're all Four, five, six movies Right Spider-Man Far From Home Is the eleventh movie In phase three Yeah I think it's just Guys Like there's some fatigue here Avengers Endgame Stuck the landing Two feet

[00:23:46] Ten of ten Judges go crazy And then I get this Dumb movie About drones And holograms And a bad Jake Gyllenhaal Three months later Yeah Three months later I just couldn't have been More over it So yeah But 17's higher Than I thought I was gonna put it For what it's worth There you go There you go Let's get to our feels Before we talk about What in this movie It was feels I'll start with you Reggay Yeah I honestly don't disagree With a lot of Dan's Critiques on Jake Gyllenhaal I should say That I think the Universal answer To this scene Is really

[00:24:16] When Zendaya Figures out That Tom Holland Is Spider-Man Or when they reunite After he saves the day Incredible stuff By those two Yes Really good Yeah It goes without saying Almost But I don't actually Necessarily disagree With Dan's critique On Jake Gyllenhaal But I think that's Maybe some of the Reason why I liked it It's like It was clearly So over the top And so I was cool With it With that said Whether you land On him Yay or nay From the villain Character's point of view I did think that I remember being in the theater And it still works for me now

[00:24:45] The twist The reveal scene Yeah In the bar I didn't This is one of those things Where it's like I know a lot more About the MCU Even now Than I did in 2019 When this came out And it's like I didn't know Mysterio's origin And I You know And so that scene Really works And I thought It was very clever And so I enjoyed Rewatching it Yeah When he leaves And he says We did it And everyone cheers And you're just like What Like I remember seeing it For the first time And being like Oh Knowing he's the bad guy I didn't have that take I will say

[00:25:15] That's a cool way to do it I don't know if I knew Mysterio was the bad guy Coming into the movie Oh I knew he was the bad guy Coming into the movie But also I will say this That scene is great Until it The scene right after that Is maybe one of the worst scenes In the MCU And I'll get to that In the wait once But it is cool How he did it I would not disagree That it is cool How he did it I will say JB's move Always makes me laugh He's great Why is he I don't know why he's here But I'm so happy He's here He's so funny It's so ridiculous

[00:25:44] When the kid Who I don't remember his name But he's like He says He shows off the picture That he has And JB's move Is like I'm gonna be a cool teacher For a second You can't be taking pictures Of people in the bathroom He's very funny Stalls and journals Stalls and journals It's fantastic I love it And I want JB's move In every movie I don't Okay He's great on Curb Your Enthusiasm I want him on every movie Yeah You want him on every movie I want him on every movie In Nolan's The Odyssey You want JB's move in there

[00:26:13] More than anything You can't be jumping out of horses More than anything More than anything In the world Charging a horse My feels in this movie Is Is Peter Billingsley Shout out Peter Billingsley You guys know who this is Christmas Christmas story He's Ralphie From A Christmas Story And there's one person That revived his career And his name is John Favreau John Favreau Directed Elf Peter Billingsley Gets to be in Elf And John Favreau Has made it a point To give Peter Billingsley

[00:26:42] Roles in Iron Man And then now again John Favreau Helped produce And act in this movie Peter Billingsley Gets to show up Again Ralphie from Christmas Story Having an adult acting career Because of the MCU Is my favorite And in this movie He gets some actual lines And stuff to do And I think that's awesome And I just It's cool to see him And I'm happy to see him Whenever he's on screen That's my favorite Peter's made good friends He's friends with Yeah John Favreau He's best friends with Vince Vaughn

[00:27:12] Who's like his creative partner Like everything Yeah That Vince Vaughn makes Go look at the producer credits So great Your boy Peter's there Your boy Peter Just hanging out I love it Good for him Good for him Good on him Good on him That's right You'll shoot your eye out kid Let's take a break We'll come back We'll get to the What do you You like the Christmas story Right guy I don't really feel like You talk about it I like it just fine It's not a yearly watch For me I think I'm Where you are I think I'm I like it just fine I'll happily watch it If it's on I love that you watch it On Christmas night I like Honestly I think

[00:27:41] If I was going to place it Anywhere on the schedule Probably for different reasons Than you do it But I think at the tail end Is probably where I would Your pitch of the glow Family is my favorite pitch Of watching the movie And I think that is why You should watch the movie But as a whole It's fine Yeah It's what it is It's very funny Yeah Alright let's take a break We'll be right back Here on The Marvel Marvel man boys Marble boys Who's going to win It's not who you think It's the blue marble All I'm saying

[00:28:10] I'm going to show you You pick one That's in the lead That horse is finishing last I'm going to show you One later Yeah I think I get the gist I just pick the slow one And it wins No not necessarily I will not watch a whole one I'll be like Why am I doing this And I'll just keep going You say that now But I know for a fact How many do you watch today Brand You sit there and you watch Someone spin a pizza crust Oh that's different man You make a good pie Oh boy But it's the same thing There's something about it That mesmerizes you It's different I'm with a rag guy Very different Different Yeah I'm going to send you guys Both a marble race And you guys are going to be like Uh oh

[00:28:40] Ignore Swipe Oh Dan ignored another video I sent him What else You send me anything A text I'm going to respond right away You send me a meme I will respond right away You send me a video You're probably not getting a response Don't have that type of time It's crazy Because I have to give it My full attention I can't half watch it I just don't have the ability So if I'm in this space To watch it I'll watch it Recommendable Dan No thank you Thank you I'm so wrong I'm not responding I'm right You know what I mean

[00:29:11] Wait what Let's start with you Rye guy There's the press conference Early on With uh Peter is in full Spider-Man regalia And May And he gets really overwhelmed Uh near the end of it Um And like So he just like Jumps up and leaves Except He's in a small Enclosed room He'd He'd just be on the ceiling He wouldn't He wouldn't have left The room at all No So No There's that So there was I Not the best exit strategy Um On the bus Um

[00:29:40] It's the eat of scene Where Peter almost kills A bunch of people And So stupid Yeah I mean Honestly yeah That's probably the most Like comical bit That's when I was like Am I watching Abbott and Costello He's gonna accidentally Kill another human Right And so I I actually don't think A lot of the comedy there works However Peter slaps Flash And knocks him out cold Flash has no chin dude Like You know It's like I I understand that he's got The Peter tingle And the spidey sense But like

[00:30:09] Like You can't get knocked out From a slap Join Bramble Jam Plus For Ryguy's Tale of the Tape Uh Of Flash And Peter Parker He's gonna get all the measurements He's gonna really go through The whole thing Flash is a wuss For fight night No chin on him I mean Maybe it was just like The adrenaline from Peter Was spiking Cause he's worried about Killing a dude But No chin on Flash You should be embarrassed Um Last one I bet he is He's a pretty insecure kid Because of his home life So If you could Yeah

[00:30:39] And you're worried about his chin It's unbelievable His mom doesn't even show up To pick him up at the airport Okay Crazy Crazy He just wants friends Yeah I mean You're not gonna get friends With a chin like that He's gonna Last one Maybe I missed something I paid pretty close attention During this movie Mysterio By his very name He wears the viewing globe From Power Rangers Over his head He doesn't want people To know who he is Right He's Mysterio Yeah Um Now In the scene

[00:31:08] Before he does the reveal Before he's like We did it That we just said Was our feels Um He's in Borderline I know it's a bit Right And Peter doesn't know It's a bit But he's in his Full costume Basically Other than the globe That's right Wouldn't that be a dead Dead giveaway Just a Peter Wouldn't that be a dead Wouldn't you want to be In regular human clothes When Like Peter's just an idiot In that moment Via the writing of the movie Or am I missing something Bran I think maybe

[00:31:38] He has talked Peter Into the fact that This is his secret Yeah Layer But it doesn't make sense Because they're supposed To be patrons It's a bar You're 100% right So Okay cool I just wanted to make It's fine as a wait What It's a miss for the movie I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing He should have gotten Changed In the comics Quentin Beck Mysterio Who is a villain Is a stunt double Oh He's a film stunt double And all of his stuff Is trickeration He's mad He doesn't have any real powers And so This is a take

[00:32:07] That makes sense From that regard Sure Even though it doesn't Make any sense In explaining it At all Yeah Okay cool That's it for me Brad I do just want to Be clear here And you guys can correct me If I'm wrong But all of the characters That we know From Spider-Man From the first one All of them blipped Uh Ned blipped I believe I believe MJ blipped In the Spider-Man Homecoming Once again They had to make room For the OG Avengers

[00:32:38] I mean What are the odds Although you know what You know I was thinking about that Sorry I know we were kind of Short on time There's not even There's not even a scene In Endgame I was thinking about this Last week With all the OG Avengers Together by themselves They do it after Scar Joe dies But You're right When did they kill Thanos I guess that counts Yeah That's a big moment They all come together And they slice his head Yeah that's right That's true Yeah But after jumping through All these hoops Including to Brand's point Actually I don't know If they all go to do that But they are all together

[00:33:07] Before that When they're talking And they're arguing Right But they all And then Captain Marvel shows up And then Thor's like I like her Before Maybe that's the moment But they don't They don't play it up big They don't You're right All the hoops They have to go through That's right To make it happen All the very contrived things Including killing all of Clint's family And every single one of Peter's friends All of them All of Clint's family And everyone that we know From Homecoming I don't know what happened to Martin Starr The teacher Yeah so

[00:33:37] 40 down Shout out Crazy Just crazy odds there Yeah That's tough But you know what They can grow together That would be weird If you know It didn't work out that way And then I did talk about Like Edith This was the issue With the first movie If you all remember With Hey here's a suit I'm gonna give you No tutorials on this And what not Classic Literally the same issue What are you doing Here are these glasses Figure it out An entire

[00:34:07] Like So many drones And what not I'm not gonna tell you At all How to use this Here you are Child Here you are Kid who can't vote Or buy cigarettes Here are glasses With no tutorial On how to use them Or what all they can do Don't blow up a friend It's just like Yeah these connect To the Stark Industries Like AI stuff So just like You know Yeah Tough Crazy It's a big one He's a kid He's a kid

[00:34:36] So that's wild Dano Yeah so I understand That the water The elementals Are all fake But And no one happened To get touched by one And realized That they were fake Right So like The whole time That water monster Is doing his thing No one brushes up Against this giant Water monster To go Huh I didn't feel a thing Wasn't wet at all No one That's a good point too Because I do feel like No one The whole movie You would be able To feel like The mist Of water around Right

[00:35:05] That's doing stuff You'd be able to feel The warmth of fire Right Let's say you get Tossed into the fire monster And then you don't burn You would immediately I guess you could argue The drones are Like are able to emit Whatever If the drones Can shoot Shoot things Then maybe they can also Let's say It's like a 4D ride At Disney You know Yeah exactly It's a decent idea That's not very well Fleshed out Let's say that I give All of that As being a part of this Italian buildings In Venice Are falling

[00:35:35] These are thousands Of year old buildings Like You know Renaissance Like These buildings Are historic in nature In a way that we In America Cannot comprehend That field trip Is immediately Going back up Yeah Immediately One would think Like Like Guys I Like I was in The World Trade Center On September 11th 2000 Like in the building A year before it happened Happened to be that exact day The next year My high school senior class went

[00:36:04] They saw what happened And they immediately went home And that was a massive deal In our country's history This is a building And these are The amount of people Getting killed here Is like Exponentially What that is And they're like On to the next city Martin Starr and J.B. Smoove Are like I guess we gotta pivot Because of the terrorist attack That is insane For this movie And they got jokes Too I couldn't Like They finally do get To the point Where they send them home But it takes like Two more stops

[00:36:34] On the city Are the parents Not at home going I need my baby Home right now I Like How is that not A big part of this movie I just couldn't I couldn't believe it I couldn't wrap My head around it But they're like Well Terrorist attack In In Italy I guess we'll go to Prague I guess we'll just Pop on over to Prague Is what our plan is So Dan Can I ask you a question Yeah Because you To your point The school that you went to Yeah There were kids That were there

[00:37:03] September 11th In 2001 Yes They were in Secaucus, New Jersey Loading a bus To drive to the trade center So when they decide Obviously we have to leave the city They left immediately Did they Went straight home Everybody got on the bus They went straight to South Carolina They literally They were on the way back To South Carolina Before noon It is like You're taking care of kids Sure I didn't know if there was like Okay You know You've been waiting for this Your whole life Your senior year Yeah We can stop in Like Kentucky Nope

[00:37:32] For some chicken Did you do that on purpose? No You know what I mean? I had a chapernaum Senior trip Where we ended up in Kentucky I thought you knew that story I did know that story But that's not I didn't do that on purpose No they just took them Straight home You want those kids To be with their parents Immediately Of course And you would want Even in a world of Avengers I think if your high school child Witnesses an attack of this magnitude You want to hug your kid I think it's crazy That this movie is like What if we go to Prague? What if

[00:38:01] Hear me out Prague's awesome Right? That's crazy Especially now that you See the Avengers that are left Yeah And there's no way That the water monster No Iron Man No Captain America Like the original Captain America Okay I don't know those kids Straight home Maybe Ant-Man will help us out Here in Prague I don't know how far Prague is from Italy I have no idea But there's no way That the water monster can get there I know that much Yeah And then they go to Prague And then the opera Is empty

[00:38:32] WTF Marvel Guys The opera in Prague Is a bigger deal Than anything in the United States is The opera has been in Prague At all? The opera's been in Prague Since 1720 Okay It's Go Like The opera is famous in Prague In a way We have nothing in America That is that famous Nothing Our country didn't exist Yankee Stadium Yankee Not even close New and old When anything

[00:39:02] I was trying to throw you a bone You go The garden? Doesn't matter No Absolutely not Greenville fireworks? The idea Well on July 2nd If you The idea that you would go to the opera In Prague And it is a ghost town I know there's a party going on outside The idea that the opera didn't sell out every night You're going No one's there This class is sitting in the opera Every row behind them is empty Marvel didn't have the budget To put some butts in seats That is crazy

[00:39:31] Like How is that How are there people not at the opera? I mean I don't want to go But that doesn't mean it's not full Of people that want to go Maybe it's a thing where they Let groups in first So if you If you bought group tickets The opera starts And then they walk out It was bad Real bad It was an off night Not as bad The flute player was gone This is my last one Not as bad Yeah Not as bad as Jake Gyllenhaal's Mysterio's speech

[00:40:02] After they They trick Peter Parker It's It is The worst It might be the low moment of the MCU I Like I am Someone that You know Nolan gets a little bit of a pass On explaining what's going on in his movies The way to get me out very quickly In a Hallmark movie In a Marvel movie Is For you to explain the plot of the movie Sure Jake Gyllenhaal is asked to give a toast And instead of going Here's to the bad guys Or here's to the guys that nobody recognized Or here's to us

[00:40:31] We finally did it He decides to tell everyone watching at home Exactly how and why he came to be And why they're doing what they're doing In a manner that exists Only for the folks sitting in the movie theater It's embarrassing It's an embarrassing bit of dialogue Embarrassingly written Embarrassingly performed I hated every second of it I almost hit fast forward I couldn't believe what I was watching And then we did this because of this And you remember this That's why we did this

[00:41:01] And now we're here because of this And here's how we're going to do this Because of this I hate it I hate it Find a better way to show that you're the bad guy And why you're the bad guy And give me a better origin story That's all I got, Brian It's time for What a Marvel That's when we talk about what in this movie Made us go Wow, what a Marvel I'll start with you Right guy Or any questions you have, of course What a Marvel There's a brief moment I think early on into the film When Peter Parker's talking to We find out later Fake Samuel L. Jackson

[00:41:30] Or fake Nick Fury Which, you know what? Credit to Samuel L. Because watching it with the knowledge Pretty good Like, watching it a second time You go, oh wow, yeah It's like he's being very intentional And not overtly being Nick Fury It's actually a somewhat nuanced It's as good as Samuel L. Jackson's ever been In the MCU And that doesn't mean he's been bad But it's a lot of fun that he's having here Yeah, and it's like He's being very meticulous And making sure he's not actually acting Like exactly how Nick Fury would act It's perfect But on the first watch You wouldn't have gathered that

[00:41:59] So very well done Good actor that's him Yeah, you have to tell Wow Ryan's finally giving Samuel L. Jackson The credit he deserves Good on him But it'll be quite a while There's a moment early on Where Peter teases the multiverse And it ends up Obviously that's not what this movie is about And it's the end of phase three As we know, phase four Is the multiverse, right? And I just thought When watching it in that moment, Bran Like that This will be the last time For quite a while If not currently up to right now When we're recording

[00:42:28] Where the MCU acts With clear intentionality What we were about to You know, we were just Through the golden age of the MCU And I'm not saying That every decision the MCU made In this movie Or the first three phases At large were perfect But you can say that All of the decisions they made Were made with conviction And they had a plan Sure What we were about to enter Is just a lot of stuff happening Yeah And some of it Some of it Out of their control But a lot of it They clearly just got way too big

[00:42:57] For their britches With the Disney Plus shows And everything else And the firm plotting That they had And firm decision making That they had Which is I think The predominant reason Or one of the predominant reasons Why this worked The way it did Leading up to Endgame Really goes away It's not to say That there won't be Some good movies Because there's definitely Some movies That are going to have Ranked very high But they have Peter Say that about the multiverse Because they knew What they were about to do Unfortunately They had no idea What to do with the multiverse

[00:43:27] And let's begin The next several months Of our lives So is that why They did the thing With Nick Fury And the scroll And the fact that He's not really there He's not like Is that Like why Why is I think that's just A fun bit But like Oh okay Yeah I'm saying No that was my I just didn't Like as funny as it was I was like But why Fury was on vacation And so they sent A fake Fury Because they always treat Spider-Man with kid gloves Even though they're Giving him crazy tech Well he was on fake vacay

[00:43:56] But like they do the same thing In the first Spider-Man Where he thinks he's talking Tony's starting He's not getting Any of the messages They're not responding They do a similar bit So like it's just It's a bad bit Is all that I don't think Samuel Being on that ship Is supposed to tease Anything bigger I think he's just Okay that was what My question was I think he's just Doing Nick Fury stuff And it's supposed to be A cute little thing That the scrolls Are involved Okay Yeah I think Thank you I mean How about this It hasn't paid off yet If it was supposed To be something bigger Okay great Yeah I just

[00:44:26] As funny as it was I also was just like But why is he on the ship Yeah Why is he doing a thing In front of like a fake beach And then going back to Like what's going on On the ship What's he doing Yeah Yeah Yeah so I have two One I'll just go ahead And get out of the way now Because we're going to do Multiverse all No way home You know you spent a long time In Avengers Endgame Explaining a sacred timeline That's going to come into Direct you know Opposition to what's going to Happen in no way home

[00:44:56] Having said that One way to ruin a multiverse Is to have the same actor Play the same character In all three multiverses J. Jonah Jameson Is played by J.K. Simmons In the Spider-Man multiverse In the Spider-Man Tom Holland In the Spider-Man Andrew Garfield And the Spider-Man Tobey Maguire He's in those Andrew Garfield movies Yes I haven't I've only seen each once I didn't remember that And J.K. Simmons Is the national treasure I love that guy

[00:45:26] He is perfect As J. Jonah Jameson What are we doing? The only thing that makes sense Is at this time They didn't They didn't know What they were doing Like they didn't know That they were bringing in The other ones? Yeah Oh I think that They had a trilogy Planned out I would imagine But he's already been In the other two I mean I guess If you don't know That you're gonna do Then it's really fun Then he is J. Jonah Jameson Yeah that's a fun thing It's a little stinger And that's that I would To Bran's point I would bet That was the hope To do at some point

[00:45:55] Yeah I wonder how far Far you know I think they knew That No Way Home Was coming But I guess I could be wrong We could probably To get those other actors As Spider-Man In was a hurdle Like it was hard To make happen So maybe they didn't Think it was gonna be possible So why not Let J.K. Simmons My bigger one Is this is the most Conversation I've heard About a dual headphone adapter

[00:46:24] Since the early 2000s And there is a time Still for a dual headphone adapter And it is on an airplane To watch the same movie Because my kids I have one My kids use one It is still a very Antiquated piece of technology Why can't we have Multiple Bluetooth earbuds Hook up to the same screen Yeah you think we would I mean what comes first Is that or smelling Through the screen That's what I was hoping To get to here Is like smelling Through the screen Seems so far off How is it that I can connect My watch to my phone

[00:46:54] My earbuds to my phone My laptop to my phone Through Bluetooth On different connections At the same time And my car All at the same time But two pairs of headphones Can't connect to the same screen If we're not If we can't science this What are we doing What are we doing That's a good question I think we're getting there You think so I do You think we're getting Closer to that Than Smell-O-Vision I do think we're getting Closer to that Than Smell-O-Vision Only because Smell-O-Vision's not possible It's Like On my My phone

[00:47:24] When I'm at home I have like A Bose speaker And a Sound bar That's connected From the Apple TV And those can connect Together And you can play music All around the house But I'm on an airplane And I can't watch A movie with my wife With Both have wireless earbuds I don't know what it is About the earbuds That we haven't been Able to crack But I have to imagine We're close But when they all Taught This movie was in 2019 And they have There's so much conversation About a dual headphone adapter And I'm like What is it 1999 And then I was like You know what

[00:47:53] Actually That would be the only way They could watch a movie together Six pronger that I had Oh yeah You and I would Anybody can join Everybody join We would do the album We would listen to an album What a piece of deck That's right man Six pronger We did it everybody Congratulations to us Come back next week Black Widow Oh I thought she was dead Origin story Don't worry What Win better That's right Win better than now Now After Win better That was beautiful Brent Lose worse Win better Until next time
