BRAN’S MOVIE SYNOPSIS
We meet Everly Stone. She creates wedding dresses and is very ANTI Halloween! Her employee is like we should make Halloween costumes too! Everly is like NO!!! Hot firefighter Beau comes in for a fitting and invites her to the Halloween festival but she’s not having it.
When she gets home, lights are flickering. Leaves are flying. And she wakes up in the middle of the night to some thuds downstairs. When she gets down there, she sees her dead mentor, Anna. SHE’S BEING HAUNTED! She tells her she’s being Christmas Carol’d - 3 ghosts. But she tells her to heed the warnings or she’ll end up like her - miserable and alone.
Up first is the ghost of Halloween past. He takes her to 30 years ago. We’re at a Halloween party. Little Everly is dressed up like a witch with little Beau dressed up like a firefighter. They’re having the best time. Turns out she hasn’t always been a Halloween humbug. We then go back to 20 years in the past. Everly and Beau are at college together. He’s the star quarterback with lots of women interested in him, and she has a boyfriend who drives a big truck and honks at her when it’s time to go. And she left before she could hear him say that she’s settling.
Cut to 10 years in the past. Another Halloween party. She’s still with Rex who SUCKS and Beau is clearly not a fan. Beau is actually her dad’s successor down at the fire station. During the party, she finds ol’ Rex kissing another woman. EVERYONE SEES IT! Her younger self runs out but she gets to see that Beau confronts Rex and tells him that he never deserved her!
And just like that, she’s back in her bed. She wakes up to see her cat is on the roof, so naturally she calls Beau. He comes and they chat and apologize for how they left things earlier.
The ghost of Halloween present shows up and she’s a cool skateboarder. She shows her Beau driving up to Everly’s business looking all sad, her employee’s boyfriend complaining about Everly not valuing her like she should - he tells him that if nothing changes in 6 months, she’ll leave. She then sees another woman talk to Beau, telling him he’s such a good guy. If she’s not careful, she might lose him!
When she comes back, she rushes to the firehouse but there seems to be an emergency, so not the right time.
When she gets back home, the ghost of Halloween yet to come is there and his name is Grant and he’s the hottest. She touches his cheek and they show up 10 years in the future. She sees Beau with a kid at a pumpkin patch. She’s nowhere to be found. She’s real sad. The ghost takes her to where she’s at in the future - she sees her employee is now running her own business making Halloween costumes and she’s engaged. Apparently, she took all of Everly’s clients and we see that Everly’s shop is closed. We see that Everly is fully alone.
She wakes up and it’s Halloween day! She hasn’t missed it! She shows up at work, shows her employee some love, and tries to tell Beau how she feels and totally botches it.
After going home to be sad, she shows up at the party, gives her employee a raise, and tells Beau how she feels and they finally kiss! And they dance the night away. Happy Halloween.

[00:00:04] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast. Hallmark Hallmark Halloween Movies I'm Dan, I despise Hallmark Halloween Movies.
[00:00:33] This is the Deck The Hallmark Podcast. Deck The Hallmark, it's this podcast. Friends host this podcast.
[00:00:58] To another week, another episode, another day, another life, another dream. You'll get there. It's great to be here today. Yeah, it is. Our final Hallmark Fall movie of the year. Our final Hallmark non-Christmas movie of the year. Not that you're excited. I'm pumped, baby! That means this is Marathon Week, doesn't it, Bram? It's Marathon Week, exactly right. Kicking things off on Friday, of course.
[00:01:24] Our yearly kickoff episode will be released that day. Yeah, we've done the previews, we've done the first look, but how are we going to kick it off if we don't tell you all the things we've already told you? Right. It's different. Same thing. No, we have compiled, we've looked at them all, we've studied them, and we have come up with our personal top three and bottom three of the season. Yeah, man. That's the, that we think. That we think. It's our bottom top three previews. Educated guests. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Those are the ones that we're most excited about. Yeah. So you can look forward to that.
[00:01:55] But Friday, speaking of it, 6 p.m. Eastern Time, deckedahalmart.com slash marathon. We're going to be live for about 29 straight hours. What, that's it? It's getting longer. Walmart Christmas movies, watching the first two premieres of the season, recording those episodes live. Lots of fun. And raising money for an amazing charity this year, Foster Love. Oh my gosh. It's going to be an incredible time. You're going to hear from so many people.
[00:02:23] We've got so many people coming in this year, dropping in. It's going to be a couch full live. It's going to be a couch full live. But also, shout out to our friends over at the Racine Danish Kringle Company, because they are, of course- They're fueling the whole marathon. They're fueling the marathon. They are also going to get in on the giving during the marathon, so we're really looking forward to that. But you know what I'm looking forward to right now is finding out what's the Kringle of the day, Dan. Oh, thank you. Oh my goodness. You know what? We actually have two, which is crazy.
[00:02:53] We have a stick. Oh yeah. Maple Walnut. Yeah. That looks like it's a ton of fun. Frosty. Yeah, it does. That's cool. That's cool in there. Cherry. Cherry. Cherry. Cherry's Drew Butler. One of my kids' favorites. Cherry. Here you go. Absolutely. Look at that. And also, while we're in here, because I planned for this. Yeah. Got myself a Diet Coke. Oh, that's a new trick. I didn't know we could do that. Yeah. Yeah, can now. Now, what are you gonna do?
[00:03:23] Now, I will say this. Cheers, everybody. Cece is here. Hey, Brink. Cece, thank you for showing off. You're looking lovely festive and cute today. Thank you. Better late than never, bud. You bet it. Let me see if I can. That shirt really accents your shirt area. That's us. Crank. Click Kringle. Dot com. No. Now, you have not had a Kringle yet. Oh, it looks so delicious. It does. A lot like you do. Thank you. So I'm gonna open this. Delicious. I'm gonna open this up and you're gonna get to try. Maple one.
[00:03:52] Oh, she gets a bite? She gets a bite. Good stuff. She gets a bite of the maple walnut Kringle stick from Kringle.com. Heavens to Betsy. Heavens to Betsy. Do I get a kiss, Brink? Oh, kiss. How about we lady in the house? We're away in the season for that. I would be open to lady in the tramping. Let's kiss. Okay. The most I'm comfortable doing is lady in the tramping it. We can start there and see what happens. Alright, here we go. Are you ready?
[00:04:22] We're lady in the tramping. This is CC's first Kringle. Here we go. Oh, give me the good stuff. Kringle. She don't know her yet. That was good. Maybe she likes it. She really likes it. Where's my kiss at, Brink? Where's my kiss at, Brink? Pull out lady in the tramping it. I don't know. Hey, can I try some of the Kringle or are we just throwing it on the floor these days? Here, let me pass that stick to you. Oh, yeah. Pass that stick on down.
[00:04:52] Go DTH OCT 26. 10% off. You're gonna want to get you a Kringle. You're gonna want to get it. You don't want any of this walnut Kringle, Brink? Not this year. I'm gonna pass on that nut. It is really good. I mean, it's got the CC Leaf seal of approval. It sure does. That's what we're all about around here. Which isn't going... That's not for nothing. That's not for nothing. CC, are you gonna be at the marathon this year? I'm gonna be there, Brink. You're gonna be there? Sitting right next to you. Sitting right next to you?
[00:05:21] Sitting right next to me? Oh, my hair's in my face. What is embarrassing? What is my hair? I think she's got a little something on her lips there, Brink. I will not give me one kiss. I will kiss you on the cheek. Okay. We'll start there. Oh, crazy! Little rascal! Stack on it! Oh, my... She's a rascal.
[00:05:50] She's a rascal. Let's talk about The Spirit of Halloween, shall we? The story, yeah. No. Popping up everywhere, man. No, the movie. The Hallmark Channel movie, The Spirit of Halloween. I got you. Originally premiered on October the 10th. Mm-hmm. Could have done it closer to Halloween. They chose not to. Could they have done it on Halloween? Save the Christmas movies for November. Absolutely. Well... I feel like you can't... You can do both. Sure, you can do both. You can start the holiday season off.
[00:06:18] Oh, you're saying Countdown to Christmas starts early, and then you just go, wait, we're going to show you a Halloween movie? Time out. Pause. Yeah. Just for a few hours. Why not? Man, I think you'd upset some people who believe they've shifted their brain to Christmas. You included. No! No, no, no. Because it's like, life is still happening. Life's still happening. Halloween is still real. Halloween's still real. I still have to talk to my kids about Halloween every day. Every day of my God-versation life.
[00:06:46] So it's not like I have fully shifted. I think it's fine if you want to throw in a couple of good spookers. Good spookers? I don't think so. I think there's gotta be a better way to say it. Anyway, I want a little something like this. Say hello to my brain. Thank you. Thank you. See you see. What was it so much? We meet... You got something in your beard? Oh, crumb. I'll get it. No. Call me once. We meet Evelyn Stone.
[00:07:13] She creates wedding dresses and is very anti-Halloween. Her employee is like, we should make Halloween costumes too. And Evelyn is like, no! So, hot firefighter Bo comes in for a fitting because he's gonna be the pumpkin king for Halloween. And invites her to the Halloween party at the fire station. She's not having it.
[00:07:41] When she gets home, lights are flickering, leaves are flying, and she wakes up in the middle of the night. There's some thuds downstairs. Just like that. Who did that? That was crazy. Awkward. When she gets down there, she sees her dead mentor, Anna. She's being haunted! She tells her that she's gonna be... She's about to get Christmas carols. Three ghosts in one night to tell her how she's blowing it in life.
[00:08:10] But she tells her to heed the warnings or she's gonna end up like her. Miserable and alone and dead. I don't know about the last part. I don't know. I don't know what they're talking about. Up first is the ghost of Halloween's past. He takes her to 30 years ago. We're at a Halloween party. Little Everly is dressed up like a witch. And with little Bo dressed up next to her like a little firefighter. They're having the best time.
[00:08:39] Turns out she hasn't always been a Halloween humbuck. We didn't go back 20 years in the past. And Everly and Bo are at college together. He used to start quarterback, which means lots of women are interested in him. But she has a boyfriend who drives a big truck and honks at her when it's time to go. Brian's like, yeah. Yeah.
[00:09:04] And she's like, before she could hear him say that she's settling, she was already gone. But now she's there with ghosts and can hear that. So, cut to 10 years in the past, another Halloween party. She's still with that boyfriend. His name is Rex. Rex sucks. And Bo is clearly not a fan. Bo is actually her dad's successor down at the fire station. During the party, she finds old Rex kissing another woman. Everyone sees it.
[00:09:34] Her younger self runs out, but she gets to see Bo confront Rex and tells him that he never deserved her. And just like that, she's back in her bed. She wakes up. See, her cat is on the roof. No, in a tree. I thought he was on the roof. Cat was in the tree. Ah. I like roof. Roof. Roof. And that's a dog. Naturally, she calls the fire station. Bo comes right down.
[00:10:02] He comes and they chat and apologize for how they left things earlier. Honestly, I didn't even remember that they got into a little fight. So, I don't know what that says about me. Um, the ghost of Halloween present shows up and she's a cool skateboarder. She shows Bo driving up to Everly's business looking all sad. Her employee's boyfriend complaining about Everly not valuing her like she should. And she tells him that she's gonna, if nothing changes in six months, she's gonna leave and start her own thing.
[00:10:30] And then she sees another woman talking to Bo, telling him that he's such a great guy. And if she's not careful, she might lose him and live the rest of her life alone. When she comes back, she rushes to the firehouse, but there seems to there's an emergency. So, not the right time to, you know, tell him that you love him. Uh, when she gets back home, the ghost of Halloween yet to come is there. His name is Grant. He's hot. And she touches his chest, cause that's how they're gonna transport.
[00:10:59] And they show up ten years in the future. She's Bo with a kid at a pumpkin patch. She's nowhere to be found, which makes her real sad. The ghost then takes her to, uh, see her employee who is now running her own business, making Halloween costumes. And she's engaged. And apparently she took all of Everly's clients and we see Everly's shop. It's closed. We, uh, then see that Everly is fully alone at her house, just sewing. So that's sad.
[00:11:29] Uh, she wakes up and it's Halloween. Hey, you, you there, boys. What day is it? It's Halloween. It's Halloween. She hasn't missed it. And so she shows up at work. She shows her employee some love. She tries to tell Bo how she feels, but she totally botches it. And so she goes home. She's all sad. She's like, I can't even get this right. What's the B is going to be. Uh, but she, after a little, um, another talking to from ghost Anna, she shows up at the party.
[00:11:58] She gives her employee a raise and a promotion. And then she finds Bo, tells Bo how she feels. They kiss big ones. And then they dance the night away doing the monster mash. Not really. And that my friends was the spirit of Halloween. We did it. We did the mash. We did the monster mash. The monster mash. It was a graveyard smash. Let's take a break. We'll come back.
[00:12:27] We'll break this movie down here on Deck the Hallmark. Everybody, it's great to be here today. Deck the Hallmark presented by Kringle.com. Yes, Kringle.com. Go snag yourself with Kringle. And, uh, we're going to snag ourself a hot take. And it's where we share exactly how we felt about this movie. Really nice. We do not hold back. Hey, buddy. We're about to head into year nine.
[00:12:56] You know how to do this. Not our first rodeo here. Uh, Brian Guy, what did you think of the spirit of Halloween? Yeah. Well, we got spookies and a cheating fiance. And I was like, wow, this is very different. Uh, so I took, it took some chances. It took me by surprise. Uh, very autumnal. Uh, I was really psyched about how cold it felt. It felt like November or October, almost November. It felt chilly. So I liked it.
[00:13:26] I ended up liking it. There were slow parts. There were parts where I feel like we could move things along a little bit, but I thought it was good overall. I did feel a little targeted. I feel like I got a little Everly in me. Um, sometimes it felt like they were talking to me in this movie. And so, um, you know, there were parts where I'm like, okay, yeah. All right. Sure. How so? Like I, I, I am closed off. I spend time by myself more than I don't, I think.
[00:13:53] And so while this wasn't a, like, um, she's the worst person ever, like in the Christmas Carol. Uh, yeah, it was a more of a smaller, uh, Yeah. No stakes. And so more accessible version, I would say of a human where you look at them. You're like, oh, okay. I, I see like some spots in my life. I got to just keep an eye on. So I thought it was a good, good reminder for, uh, for me, some spots. He's got to keep it on. Yeah. Just, you know, don't, don't, it was a welcome reminder to take stock, you know?
[00:14:21] And so I think a pretty good Tracy was fun. Her friend, Tracy, real fun in this movie. I liked that character a lot. Her coworker there, Juliet Schroeder in real life. And Lachlan Kornby, uh, had a real good time there with Lachlan. I thought he did a really good job. So, uh, overall, yeah, I liked this one. I had a, why are you shaking? She's a little nervous. I have a joke I have to tell you. She knows it's your turn, Brett. She's getting nervous. I have a joke I have to tell you. Oh, she's got a, that's the joke shake. I take stock too. Corn stock.
[00:14:56] That's what I'm doing. I'll get you during the break. Oh boy. Is she in the ocean? Did we throw her into water? Cece! You're fine. You're on the ground. I will get you in a moment. Actually, you're right side up too. Like you're totally fine. Honestly, you couldn't be better. It looks really comfy down there actually. All right. Um, so here's the thing about A Christmas Carol, right? It's a tale as old as time.
[00:15:26] It's a tale as old as time. That's when they started in time, yeah. We've seen a hundred Christmas Carol movies in the past nine years, right? Yeah. And I think the thing that really, uh, gives the Christmas Carol a little extra stank is those stakes that you talked about, right? Yeah. Like Ebenezer Scrooge is a bad guy who wants poor people to die. Thank you. Thank you.
[00:15:52] Believes that the world would be better if they were all dead. Mm-hmm. So like the big like change is pretty crazy in that movie, right? And that I think takes a little away from this movie because it's like, she's pretty all right. Like seems like a pretty like nice person to hang out with. Mm-hmm.
[00:16:20] Like gets a little grumpy the days leading up to Halloween. But aside from that, it seems like she has a great relationship with her parents. Yeah. You know, her, her friends, coworker, employee really likes her. Doesn't want to leave her. Yep. Yep. She's had the same best friend for over 20 years.
[00:16:41] So like not as pressing of an issue as Scrooge is, but as a Hallmark movie, as a Hallmark fall movie, we do get the autumn. We do get the fall. We do get the, the spooky by Hallmark standards. And I thought that these two at the end were great. That kiss at the end was dynamite. That song at the end was great. I dance. We tried to find a season. We spooky season.
[00:17:09] And so overall, uh, I really enjoyed myself, but if I let myself really think about the fact that this is a Christmas Carol, I can't help, but feel like it was a little bit, uh, not, it was just not a pressing story to tell. Um, but whatever, who cares? I had a good time. I liked it. It's great. Dan. Yeah. I found myself wondering just how many ghosts are in this business.
[00:17:37] If this character gets the three ghost treatments, like, are there just limitless ghosts? Because if anyone needs the three ghosts, your life is going in the wrong direction treatments. I, I just, I have to believe there are millions of people that need it before this character does. Um, is it a fun time? Yeah. I think that the ghosts work to varying degrees. I think it's a story that we're very, very familiar with. It's just, there's not a lot of weight.
[00:18:05] Bran said it already better than I can say it. There's not a lot of weight to what's going on here. It's a very personally, it's a personal story. And I think if it hit for you or, or, or, you know, it's, it's important to this character. But normally when we break out the three ghosts and you see someone's future, it's not just, oh, 10 years from now, he's got a kid. Like, it's not like there should be a bigger, I don't know. Like it didn't feel like it deserved its own movie. I feel like there are more characters out there.
[00:18:34] Like, I'd love to see a super wealthy crotchety old person learn to give and give freely than to see this person be better to her employees. But it is like relatable. It is. It's like most of us can't relate to Scrooge. Yes. You know? So I, like in that sense, it's nice.
[00:18:53] I will say like, I, I don't want to discredit the swing of the movie from a standpoint of we see an actual cheating happening, which is a big deal. You know, this did feel like Ghosts of Christmas always without any of the stakes or any of the weight that movie carried or the talent really behind that movie. I'm not saying that Megan Ori and Kevin McGarry aren't talented. I'm not saying that Lachlan Cormie.
[00:19:18] I'm just saying that movie, Kim Matula, Ian Harding, Reginald Bell Johnson, like everybody in that movie just seems to be very much at the top of their game. This movie doesn't really, I don't really know where it fits from a standpoint of like how much I'm supposed to care. I do think it is a much more introspective movie than I was expecting it to be.
[00:19:40] Um, and it could have been worse, but I just, if you're going to have someone's life change because three ghosts visit them, I just wish it was the stakes were higher and it meant more to more people. There's that. Okay. There you have it. Let's get to all the feels. Bran, anything in this movie you give me feels? The Halloween parties gave me feels. They look like a fun time. You know, I don't go crazy on Halloween, but I kind of wish I did. You know? Bran's got his Halloween stuff up. I do got my Halloween stuff up. Your whole street is doing it pretty well. You got a bunch of houses. Oh, street doesn't look good.
[00:20:10] Yeah. We're trying to, we're coming after you, Earl Street. Yeah. Uh-oh. If Dan, when Dan gets involved, it really would turn the knob. Shift the weights, yeah. It would turn the knob. It would. My house is right crest at the top of that hill, you know? I think there's something to somebody who never decorates the outside of the house finally doing it that gives everybody else that's in the same boat permission to do so. You think so? I think so. You worry about your nemesis across the street though. They always do it. I'm so good. Mm-hmm. Nice decorations. Yeah.
[00:20:41] It bothers you so much. I hate those guys. Isn't it? Isn't it? You can do it, right? You just add some more. Supposed to be in all in good fun? No. They always would. They'll always outdo you? They'll always outdo you. Well, their decorations are so on point. Yeah. They do an amazing job. Brand, you do an amazing job too, but they usually get you. Do they do Christmas as well? They do Christmas. Yeah, they do Christmas. Oh, man. Yeah. Yeah. You need to befriend them and then take them down from that, you know, as a friend. Take them down from that side. Learn like what really gets to them. Take them down. Like try to hurt them for real.
[00:21:11] For the inside. Yeah. Like what really hurts them. Yeah. 100%. Absolutely. Yeah. I do think that this movie, this is the fall that we're looking for in a Hallmark Fall movie. It was. I mean, give me this over the regatta or whatever. What was last week's? Of course. I've already forgotten. To all of the complaints about the weightiness or lack thereof of this movie, I still think this is one of the best ones of the year. Like I still hold this movie incredibly high.
[00:21:39] It's just like thinking of it as a Christmas Carol movie is just interesting. But anyway, yeah, the fall of this movie is off the charts. Let's let's if we're going to start fall into love fall harvest, whatever the heck we want to call it as early as we do, which we want. We want it. Do actually do it like really like give all of the movies the fall treatment like you give all the Christmas movies the Christmas treatment. I have to believe there's money in the budget for it.
[00:22:09] There's money in the budget for set deck on all of these movies. Let's do it. Dano? Yeah, the we're doing fields. We're doing fields. Yes. I think that the cheating. I know that that shouldn't be the fields, but you said it out loud when we were watching the movie. You never actually see someone catch someone cheating in the act of cheating on Hallmark and they did it and they did it in a flashback and it was the one time that it added some real sting to this character's arc. Yeah.
[00:22:38] It's like, yeah, you get why they don't like Halloween. They feel like they were embarrassed. They were with this person for over a decade and that that person was cheating on them and you do feel for the character in that moment. And I thought that and I really liked I think her name is Christine Wynn. I really liked the ghost of Christmas present. I thought she was of how excuse me of Halloween. Thank you. Present. Present. I think is what we're I'm going to make sure I get her name. Skateboarder. Yes. Christine Wynn the present ghost skateboarder.
[00:23:07] Yes, that's her. I thought she did an amazing job. So those would be my two fields. All right. Let's take a break. We'll come back. We'll get to the way. What the what the hallmark here on the hallmark. We're back. Hey, sorry about that. CC through me.
[00:23:36] CC through me. I'm sorry that I threw you. You know what? Apologies should be. Should be changed behavior. Okay. You're going to throw me again. I'm not going to throw you. You promise? Uh, you like my pumpkin? Yes. I like the pumpkin. I like the pumpkin. All right. Let's get to the way. Get it out. Thank you. Thank you. He's really gentle. Wow. Firm.
[00:24:06] But fair. All right. Brat guy. Anyway, what? Bring CC leaves out more than once a year. You know what I mean? It's on the budget. No. Timestamp guys hating this. I think I really like seeing the kids running around their costumes days before Halloween, like early before Halloween night, I guess is what I would say. I think we should do that more often. I think I don't. Let's stop it. I like, I like it.
[00:24:34] Like lean into this, like for the week of Halloween, just like let people go crazy. Halloween in Greenville, South Carolina never ends. We have, we go to floor field and we go to the market on Saturday morning. And if Halloween happens to be on a Thursday through, it is like four, Thursday through Saturday, four straight days. That's not that much. Oh my gosh. It's so much. I just couldn't disagree more. I like it. The Halloween party at the fire station. Good luck when there's an emergency because. Oh my goodness. It's just happening.
[00:25:02] Like we, and when I lived in Mass, we would go to the fire station near us and they would decorate and then they would hand out candy and do the whole thing. But it wasn't in the fire station. The entire fire station is monopolized. It's shut down and every, there's people like, it's crazy. They did a really cool thing in our fire station. Like they had like a zip line type thing they would do from the top of the building down and like, it was a really cool, but you could still get your trucks in and out of there. Yeah. Most of them had them in the driveway, like ready to go.
[00:25:29] So of course it, they just one year it's going to happen and they're never going to recover. Yeah. It's not a good combo. Just her not just being so clueless that, that he was into her, that Bo was into her. Bo. Bo. Not Bo. Bo. Bo. Bo. It was dumb. Chicago ball. The ball. It was just not believable how clueless she was about ball. But ball. Anything else? Can you say it normally? Bo.
[00:26:00] Is this real? Bo. Bo. Bo. No. No. No. Can you say, like, what's a blank and arrow? Bo and arrow. Bo. Bo. Bo. Bo. I honestly don't know if you're doing a bit or not. Bo. No, stop it. You're doing a bit. You're doing a bit. Looking for a truck stopping, Bo. That's, it's just how we say it up there.
[00:26:30] Bo. No. That's how anybody says it anywhere. They were up there. They didn't say it that way. Bo. Bo. Bo. As much as I love the kids running around in their Halloween costumes a week before Halloween or whatever, at the beginning of this movie, kids do run past her, push her to the side, running down Main Street by themselves, no parents around. And that's wild. Yeah.
[00:27:00] That's just, you know, I don't know the size of this town. It's somewhere in between big and small. Think they need a regional manager? And I just, yeah, I didn't really know what to do with that. Where are you getting, can you imagine you bringing your kids downtown and their Halloween costumes in there? Book it? We'll see y'all later. I wish. Just check back in the clock tower, y'all. Simpler time, man. Simpler time. For someone who hates Halloween as much as she does, she lives in a classic haunted house.
[00:27:28] Her house is perfect for Halloween. It is like, it is haunted house. When you are looking at houses, you're like, you know what? That'd be a really good haunted house. That's her house. It is. And so it's unfortunate that that's her house given it is how much she hates Halloween. Um, at the 20 years ago party when they're kids, right? Uh, one of the kids in the background is just, uh, only way I can describe it is he's dressed up like a pimp. Yeah. I don't know how else to describe it.
[00:27:57] He is pimp. He is pimp. He's pimp. Yeah. I did love at one of the parties, the dad is up there and he's like, let's get this party started. And then it's a slow, slow jam. That's right. Uh, as you do to get the party started. And then I, I found an interesting, uh, you know, she gets back to the present. What day is it? It's Halloween. I haven't missed it.
[00:28:22] She goes down and she buys seven pumpkin spice lattes to give one of the full trays to somebody else. But like, why not get it just a straight up eight? Yeah. You're sleeping one. Why not just get like at that point, just get it. Yeah. Um, and I guess it's because she knew that ball was going to be at her place of business. So she only needed three, but just give one else out. It just seemed like why stop there? Well, she gave a tray of four to a five group.
[00:28:53] It feels like she could have used another one. There's no way that she couldn't find another person to give one away to. That's all I'm saying. Dano. Yeah. Uh, Emily in the chat says, I can confirm I'm from new England. Whatever Brian is saying is nothing heard up here. He is doing his own thing. Ball. Ball. Ball. Ball. Stop it. Stop it. You remember the guy who used to play baseball for the Royals and also football for the Raiders? Bo Jackson?
[00:29:24] Emily would say the same thing. No. Bo Jackson. Ball. Ball. Ball. Ball. That's not even a word in English. It's like you have something in your mouth and it's like you're jumping over it. Ball. Ball. Ball. Yeah. Um, we see her FaceTime her parents who are about to go to sleep. Her mom is actually in bed and her dad is up complaining about the pillows and there are a lot of like eat like there's a lot of pillows. I think that's the bit. And then she calls them at midnight when she's scared and we see them in bed asleep and they
[00:29:53] have switched sides of the mattress. In what universe? These two people have been married for 30, 40. No, she's 40. Probably 50 years. Uh huh. Are you kidding me right now? They just are switching sides of the mattress? Yeah, they keep stuff fresh. Dude. I want to hear. You guys have a side. There's no world where you're switching. Okay. Is there any buddy listening? Anybody. I think even people that live alone have a side of the mattress, right? Sure.
[00:30:23] You can't just be switching sides of the mattress. How do you ever sleep? Yeah. Gotta be comfortable. Are you kidding me right now? I'll tell you what. Crazy. Wild. Wild. Um, someone has to investigate the leaves on her front porch. I, she opened, she's got to get a screen up or something. She opens the door and the leaves blow into her house every time. Not just when the ghost appear every single time. What is going on? Is there a pile of leaves on the porch?
[00:30:52] This is she always, the door always facing where the leaves can blow. It did feel personal. Like it feels like no one has even tried to stop those leaves. Like just put up some sort of partition. Like how'd they get up that high? Like that porch is elevated. Yeah. That's pretty weird. Um, I will say that this movie is the, you know, Lachlan Cornby is doing a whole thing here and he's super duper cool and he looks like the Terminator and he's doing the future thing.
[00:31:20] The big, you know, in the Christmas Carol, you know, Scrooge realizes he's dead. He's dead. Right? He's dead. And also Tiny Tim's going to die. Lot of death. Mm hmm. In this movie. Tiny Tim had it coming. She, boy. Uh, he knows what he's doing. In this movie she realizes that Kevin McGarry finally moved on after 30 years and her assistant now owns her own shop and she doesn't have one anymore.
[00:31:49] I just like, I know we talked about this in the hot take, but that is not, if you're going to have three ghosts, that third ghost really has to punch above his weight a little bit. And this movie is just like, see what happened? That guy who pined after you for 30 years moved on. Well, yeah, yeah. You think so? I just couldn't get over that. That was the, I thought we were going to have some really big emotional punch there and it was not there at all. So pretty disappointing.
[00:32:19] What's your favorite color of emotional punch? That's tropical. Wow. I went color. You went flavor. Yeah. Okay. Purple. Purple. Yeah. Anything but yellow. Yeah. Yeah. Well, yeah, of course. Let's just there so you don't choose it. Anything else, Dan? No, that's it. It's time for what the hallmark is where we wonder what could have been. Maybe he happens to go. Code code for some. Scott's going to hate that one. That was on a roll. Give us some clarity of the questions we still have. Braguy?
[00:32:49] Rex has got a pretty cool truck. We're already, we're already into. Brian. Hmm? A single cab F two 50 is not a cool truck. Very cool truck. Not a cool truck. We're already into October, the end of October. Why isn't his plow on yet? Yeah. That's true. That guy. He's true. 100% in Connecticut. That guy has a plow. He puts it. Throw the sand machine on the back. Cause you need the weight. No question. Plow. It's not even loaded up. No, that's true. Yeah.
[00:33:16] Dan, you kind of mentioned it, but this, you know, we get in ghost of Christmas. Always. We get lore of the ghosts and what their whole situation is like. That's a big part of the movie. This one. We don't really get that. Nope. Um, what is the ghost situation here? How, how far gone do you have to be to get the ghost? It doesn't seem like very far gone at all.
[00:33:43] It seems like we could all get ghost, get ghost, get all get ghost at any given time. Um, so yeah, just what's the, what's the deal with the ghost. And also I can't help, but notice Tic Tac here. Brian, you bought these in. I sure did. I just had a couple. Um, this is Tic Tac naughty or nice candy cane. And it's just white. This is just Tic Tac. I think we ate all the naughty ones out or the nice. What do you mean? I think they were red.
[00:34:12] Oh, there was different. I believe so. Cause I'm like, this is just a, this is just Tic Tac. Just one color. I thought it was a mystery. It could be spicy or not. That might be it. White Tic Tacs are just mints. Yeah. I think there was red in there and somebody ate all the red Jonah. Okay. Jonah. Yeah. That would make more sense. I was just like, this is just Tic Tacs. You can't just, are they, are they pepper? Are there just mint candy cane? That's the thing. They're candy cane, which is mint. That's just a white Tic Tac. That's just a white Tic Tac. Yup.
[00:34:41] There was probably a red in there that disappeared. Naughty or nice. Hmm. What's the naughty one? The red one or the white one? Is white naughty? Hmm. Well, nice is in red. That's the interesting thing. Naughty is in black. White's nowhere to be found. Interesting. This is very confusing. What did Jonah do? Yeah. Jonah took out all of the black and red ones and put white ones in from a different container. I'm going to have a discussion with him. Thank you. I'll figure this out. Give us an update on during the marathon. Yeah, absolutely.
[00:35:11] Dan, any... Mine was just a selection of who gets to be ghosted. Okay. Like, how do we figure this out? Very good. It's time for Double Looker of the Week. It's where we dive deep into a life of a double-decker. Dan, tell us everybody, this is honestly the time to do it, to sign up for Bramble Jam Plus. Yeah. [00:35:40] Brian tells you all about the business or the thing that you do that you didn't know you did. And we get to shout-out one of our double-decker-ins. That's exactly right. Who is it this week? It is Heather Johnson. Heather Johnson. Yeah. Heather. Shout-out. What's Heather up to? Heather, a big fan of house decor. Of course. And now she is turning it into a business where she'll help, kind of help you elevate your house decor and take it to the next level. Got it. Starting with something very visible. House shutters.
[00:36:10] House shutters. Yeah. Like on the windows. Some people have them. Some people don't. She feels like what we can do here- Some people have them. Some people don't. We can get everybody some- Everybody wants one. Everybody needs one. Very unique house shutters. Yeah? Got it. Kind of like, maybe like your street, kind of take up your decorating to the next level. Take up your decorating to the next level. Yeah, kick it up to the next level. Gotta kick it up. So you say, boy, then. House shutters, just shake it up, you know? So what does that mean? What's happening? What does that mean? House shutters.
[00:36:39] Oh, you just said house shutters shake it up. Yeah, shake it up. You know what I mean? Well, when you're- So is it instead of just like pulling it up, you shake it? Well, it's gonna help your house shutter a bit. So it's like, it's a little complicated, but it's like a hydraulic system. So she'll dig the trench. She'll put the lift in to get the house elevated. Put the hydraulic system underneath. Re-backfill it in. We'll gravel if you want the gravel. It doesn't have the- Lighting can be part of it. Noises. Now we're talking.
[00:37:08] And then, you know, come nighttime- So Heather's gonna mess with the foundation of your house? And it's just kind of- Just shakes it up. Does it shake nonstop? No, you control it. It's like a regular decoration. It'd be a great haunted house feature. You know the house- Absolutely. You know the houses during the holiday season that do the synchronized lights? Yeah. Imagine that with movement. That's exactly what Heather's thinking. Up on the house stop. Boom, boom, boom. You know what I'm talking about? Yeah, I do.
[00:37:37] Your house is a 40X movie. That's the point. That's the point. It's coordinated with your lights and your music. Oh my gosh. It sounds amazing. Yeah. I love this idea. This is really good.
