Kat's latest trip via the pond takes her back to 1814, and while she doesn't see him, she does indirectly locate Jacob in meeting Elijah Landry. Alice spends time with Del, learns more about the status of the farm, and gets a summer job.

[00:00:00] Hi, I'm Brandon. I love the way home.
[00:00:04] Hi, I'm.
[00:00:09] Hi, I'm Ryan and I like the way home, Dan.
[00:00:12] I'm Dan and I watch the way home and this is the deck.
[00:00:15] The home market.
[00:00:17] Deck the home market.
[00:00:19] It's podcast.
[00:00:22] With an inference host is podcast.
[00:01:24] have to live with him. But I'm like, he's going to appreciate and it's going to tilt him in favor of because the skating is shot really well. And he's going to love the scene
[00:01:28] with the dad and brink in the garage. And you you reference those things. Yeah. And somehow
[00:01:34] still think that the movie is a steaming pile of garbage. Dan, not everything's Oppenheimer.
[00:01:40] Yeah. Yeah. Spoiler. And you just need to listen. If you think that I'm going to thrash every Disney movie
[00:03:00] as a relic of its time period
[00:03:02] for only people that were a certain age,
[00:03:04] then please listen this Friday
[00:03:06] because there is a way to make a movie Maybe if Brink dropped a was in the 60s.
[00:05:41] Oh, that's weird.
[00:05:42] Oh, that's not me.
[00:05:42] I really made you reach for it.
[00:05:43] Yeah, I'm trying to have kids.
[00:05:44] Oh, listen, honestly not a bad idea
[00:05:47] because as a kid, if you're like, a dream come true especially when it comes to watching a show like the way home it could not be uh... more enjoyable like i wish i could watch this all at once and binge it the only thing better than that is knowing we could watch it live or we could watch another dbr with the one but nads did either way it's as close as we're going to get that's right and he watches all the episodes of the homeward is available on file let's talk about the way home shall we
[00:07:02] the way home season two episode three
[00:07:05] when you were young Great apparently she's lived for 300 years How are there only three generations removed from your original granddaughter in a thousand years I don't know not my problem and it was a thing like this Cat is running through the woods after trying to find that little boy a Massachusetts we care for children
[00:08:23] The boy told finally turns around it is not Jacob
[00:09:24] I said William, can you hear me? And William and his son Jacob.
[00:09:27] So the kid she saw is Jacob, but not her Jacob.
[00:09:31] It's William's Jacob.
[00:09:32] It's a William Jacob situation.
[00:09:34] Exactly right.
[00:09:34] Cut to present day, we see Elliot who gets lost
[00:09:37] in a memory that he is reliving.
[00:09:41] Of his teenage self, Jacob and Colton,
[00:09:45] just right there in front of him.
[00:09:47] Then at the market, 20, 20 years ago. She's like, um, really enough, my son William actually named his son after him.
[00:11:02] Amen.
[00:11:03] It seems.
[00:11:03] He thinks Jacob, she says, where's that Jacob? like, hey, my little brother, who I haven't seen in 20 odd years, is engaged to be married to Susanna. That's exactly right. Del finds the horse. Remember the horse? Yep. And the horse had his back, everybody, as we have only upped the screen time of horse
[00:12:23] in this season of Way Home.
[00:12:24] It only felt right to bring back horse head. Cat runs planning to tell Alice about what she just encountered, but instead tells Elliot who she sees out there, Tinden do his yard, that she found a Jacob and he is excited about this until she gets more information and is like
[00:13:41] hey you got up bro like let's chill Jacob built this lighthouse. And he's like, yes, it's pretty crazy. They kind of hash things out, and they decide to be friends. And for some reason, my notes didn't save on hearsay. I guess that's here.
[00:15:01] What's going on? They didn't finish,
[00:15:03] they didn't, for some reason, they didn't save,
[00:15:04] save over here.
[00:15:05] Okay. Polaroids and all of the pictures are of the pond different angles of the pond like let's do pond here Pond there pond pond everywhere the episode ends when Alice confronts Elliot's Outside of his house. She is saying hey you said we made a pact I did not we I have not made a pact with you to talk about to not talk about this and so he's like hey
[00:16:25] I'm gonna warn you
[00:17:27] map, Lake Ontario, nowhere near upper Canada, but apparently in 1814, that's what they called upper Canada or the way that I'm to understand it. So there you have that. That's why you
[00:17:32] would deliver a ship there. Yeah.
[00:17:33] To the southern most part of upper Canada. Yes. I don't know what Lisa's telling me to
[00:17:38] do better about, but I can't agree. The new hire at the newspaper that cat hires is a
[00:17:44] is non binary. They are they. That's what they're telling you to do. Okay, great. I But then also everyone that we're meeting in 1814 has all of these connections to Jacob It really is like a lot to keep track of and then you introduce another new character in the archives Which that may or may not wind up being the archives are just hilariously great But like that that actually doesn't treat me but then I think you talked about this last week or two weeks ago
[00:19:02] You don't want to overload season two with new new new new
[00:20:05] with them like setting up a bunch of things and being like man i'm really excited about the future this episode didn't
[00:20:07] kind of if this were a relay race this may be fun a fumbled
[00:20:11] the stick a little bit there in the relay race of the way home the worst analogies of
[00:20:23] season two if Susanna and Jacob are betrothed and they get married, does that mean that Jacob? So there's a lot of likes where, this show tends to do this where they're constantly weaving a web where the possible outcomes are ick.
[00:21:40] And so I do appreciate that.
[00:21:42] I also, it's concerning.
[00:21:45] I'm still all theible in the first season. And instead, we're getting a bunch of nothing burgers. It is just not adding up to anything.
[00:23:03] And it's just like new old hot guy in town. this to grants these showrunners the fact that they know what's going on and they've created a good TV show. All of it, my entire tank is emptied on the idea that something has happened in the seven months that since we last left Elliot at the end of the season one. And now,
[00:24:20] for him to be acting so incredibly strange and remembering all of these things,
[00:25:25] It's time for all the fields we're talking about what in this episode gave us feels Ryan. I had to you already touched on it pretty specifically in the recap.
[00:25:28] I really did love cat doing the you want to know who I am you asked for it like it's
[00:25:34] just like something that I would do like I had no way to like prove that I was cool
[00:25:37] so I just jump in a pond and hope that the other person thinks that I'm cool.
[00:25:41] My my other one was because like it doesn't'll get to the wait what the sink and swim and nearly nude here on. Take the homework. Take the homework. Take the homework. Take the homework. Take the homework. Take the homework. Take the homework. Take the homework. Take the homework. Take the homework. Take the homework.
[00:27:00] Take the homework.
[00:27:01] Take the homework.
[00:27:02] Take the homework.
[00:27:03] Take the homework.
[00:27:04] Take the homework.
[00:27:05] Take the homework.
[00:27:06] Take the homework.
[00:27:07] Take the homework.
[00:27:08] Take the homework. tell because there's not to dance point there's not a lot of tables five tables right so I don't know if it's she's just so bad that somehow it is getting so like backlog like that she can't like is that how bad she because they seem fine every other time anyone is ever in there yeah it's a fair point I mean I don't understand why the runner of the shop
[00:28:21] is it help I blow whatever yeah I mean it's a farmers all monock they keep showing all the it doesn't all the other i mean like you know i think i can't turn on the
[00:29:40] off franklin's almanac was the first one in the seventeen hundreds
[00:29:43] i mean you would have an almanac i think you would have an almanac in eighteen
[00:29:47] fourteen sure seen before with as is deflating the voice ever going. This day keeps getting better and better. Were they like watch? Were they watching it? The title, did they go? Did they slash it? And as is deflating, they go, this day keeps getting better and better. Uh, it was just a weird key the car.
[00:31:00] Oh, why do you keep it?
[00:31:02] Thank you.
[00:31:03] Getting better and better.
[00:31:05] Um, I'll say that one for last summer in Port Haven. Elliot knocks on the door. She does that thing where she like backs off. And he walks out and he's like, what, it's been a really long day. What you doing? What man? Like envisioning old things, looking at lighthouses? What are you doing aside from villain stuff in the secret of your house?
[00:32:21] Because I'm that you have no explanation for being like,
[00:32:24] oh, it's been a long day for me.
[00:32:26] This man who has gone for seven months He is. You are setting that person up for the biggest disappointment ever because when you say I found him, you better have them or some sort of proof. For her to come back, see Elliot and go. I found him and Elliot then to hear, I actually see him.
[00:33:44] I literally, you doesn't know that time travel exists,
[00:35:02] like maybe Jacob's like, I I got like I got I come to me. I do think the problem is how the scene is written
[00:36:20] and shot because her finding these like carvings
[00:36:25] of like their initials, their little JK initials together So here's this big emotional moment and they just figured out anything they could to make that emotional moment happen. But I just gave you a great way to do it. Well, for sure. No, you're right. Absolutely. Yeah. Like just go back and be like, I saw where he carved our name in these things. I heard stories of him growing up. Like these are all like these are all game changers for you in thinking that your little
[00:37:40] brother never lived past seven or eight years old.
[00:37:43] And now you realize he got to be a teenager.
[00:37:46] He got to experience life in his twenties. in scotch taped, masking tape, whatever, yellow taped under a desk, probably by Jacob. Those pictures look like a seven or eight year old would take a Polaroid in 1999, take these different shots of the same thing and tape them there in case anybody figures like he went missing.
[00:39:00] That seems to be where we're going. How has no one's becoming, she has to be brought into it at some point, right? And clearly Del, like Del has to know something. Right? Of course. Yeah, but Brandon, that's also the other thing. I think we're kind of running on fumes with, let's just see Jacob and get to the next part of that story. Let's get Del and nobody likes this farm angle.
[00:40:22] Like let's just, let's get Del invested into the main story.
[00:40:25] Also, yeah, yeah. But, like I almost saw of it as like Colton was like, had kind of had idea or something. It took pictures and like he was doing the secret investigation. He's known to be secretive. Unless somehow those pictures just showed up in the last three weeks, unless Elliot put them there when he came back, it doesn't make sense. For what purpose? I don't know.
[00:41:40] I'm just trying to find a reason why.
[00:41:42] Those pictures are playing inside.
[00:41:44] They're in plain sight.
[00:41:45] They're not even behind the desk. to this man's eyes and then shook his hand. It's among the worst things I've ever seen on television anyone do. And so maybe cats the real villain here, who knows? Gee, yeah, yeah, yeah. I have a couple of things really quickly. One, I'm sinking, I'm sorry, I'm swimming.
[00:43:00] I'm gonna swim both of these things.
[00:43:01] I'm on my face.
[00:43:03] One, when I first saw, I love it and I want to,
[00:44:02] thought that did you think they looked even a little bit of a the drawing had blue eyes and he had darker eyes and so I didn't
[00:44:05] even and I didn't know you're such an eye boy just a really
[00:44:08] was pretty obvious in the I noticed a blue I didn't notice
[00:44:11] some humans I thought he did I could be wrong Ryan did you did
[00:44:14] you get it catch that at all
[00:44:18] I've lost you all together at this point I don't know I don't
[00:44:20] know where you are audio wise I'll be honest I didn't know no no
[00:44:23] no no no yeah we go yeah I didn't I didn't collect that at all
[00:45:23] There's something there that screams time traveler. I love that theory.
[00:45:24] To just like walk straight in and be like,
[00:45:26] I have, I was the newspaper person in my high school
[00:45:30] and I know this that and I could be our kind.
[00:45:32] I grew 100%.
[00:45:34] And it's just what I'm waiting for.
[00:45:35] Something screams time traveler.
[00:45:36] I just wanna make it clear.
[00:45:37] Not every, not all of this new stuff
[00:45:40] or characters that they've introduced, we think is negative.
[00:45:43] We just think there's way too much.
[00:45:44] Yeah.
[00:45:45] And we need to pare down.
[00:45:46] Yeah.
[00:45:47] Because Brett, that would be awesome if that happens.
[00:45:47] It seems like smoke and mirrors. on finding Jacob to get to hang out with him. Like your your brother's now 2526. He's got a life. He's doing amazing not to spend time with him and to hear about all the things you missed and to talk about, you know,. You found like, no, I found a T a full T where where are they? Well a Jerald Green's diary. What's the name of the movie? The Gilded Age. Gilded Age.
[00:49:40] What is it?
[00:49:41] Skip it.
[00:49:42] Gilded Newport mystery.
