[00:00:00] Hi, I'm Brian and I love The Way Home.

[00:00:04] Hi, I'm Ryan.

[00:00:06] I'm pretty sure I still like The Way Home.

[00:00:08] I'm Dan and I'm Way Home Opinion and this is the Deck the Hall Market Podcast.

[00:00:14] Deck the Hall It's okay. It's not one of my faves. I like it.

[00:01:41] It's a perfectly fine film. It's no smart house.

[00:01:43] Well, here's the smart house. That's what we're getting there soon, right?

[00:01:46] And I think the thing about Luck of the Irish... You're going to. The way home. Yeah. We're coming out. Go ahead, Ry. Go ahead, Ry. Oh no, I was just gonna say real quick, because I don't know if we'll come back to it. I loved doing the theories with y'all last week. I thought that was fun, but we should do it again. We gotta do it again. I would say after the finale, we gotta come back and do the theories again. I think that's a fun bit. And then we gotta figure out what we're doing after that.

[00:03:00] What's the next fast?

[00:03:01] What's the next fast five?

[00:03:02] Fast Friday.

[00:03:03] Cause one calls the hardest back after this.

[00:03:06] Oh, how are they?

[00:03:07] Broom, broom. again and I was like, I mean, you know, it is that and rise of Skywalker are by far and away the two worst movies in that franchise. And then attack of the clones is third worst. If we did this, I've never rewatched rise of Skywalker. I remember. Me either. One time and done. One and done on that movie. Never again.

[00:04:21] Only saw it in the theater. Only saw it in the theater.

[00:04:23] Do you have a care in the world here? I don't have a care in the world.

[00:04:27] Oh, that's why we need to do, big fat disappointment, by and large. There's a little bit of, but I think that's what makes it fun. None of us are big like, you know,

[00:05:41] can't tell you the topography of Naboo versus Jakku

[00:05:44] or whatever, you know what I mean?

[00:05:46] But I do think that what I say-

[00:05:47] Like we're heading on down premiered and it went a little something like this.

[00:07:00] So after Elliot's warning from the end of last episode,

[00:07:03] Alice, for our understanding,

[00:07:07] immediately travels back in time,

[00:07:08] except Jacob and Colton are there finds out that is October 2001. So a bit of a time jump here. And Elliot shows her that Canada has joined the war on terror. This is gonna be a 9-11 centered episode here. Present day cat sees Danny for the first time since that one episode last year. And Danny, as we all remember, was Jacob's friend.

[00:08:21] She asked him about the pictures that she found,

[00:08:24] and he's like, yeah, that's Jake's pond.

[00:08:26] He always wanted to play there.

[00:08:27] He loved the ghost stories about the white witch to tell you something but I think it would be crossing boundaries so I'm not going to tell you so of course Elliot shows up later and is like hey. He want to put this thing on again. He love it. Brady asked to talk to Dell and asked if he can propose. Obviously hearing this freaks

[00:11:00] Elliott out and he runs out before anyone can see Cyrus Goodwin tells this other dude that he thinks somebody has been stealing from his boats just just as they're getting into that Susanna comes from behind Kat puts her hand over her mouth takes her to her place Kat asks how it's how it's possible that the gunshot wound that she had is now gone Susanna says I'm a healer Kat

[00:12:21] asked no follow-ups Kat asks says that. Elliot is there to take pictures and proceeds to take no pictures as advertised. Kat is very much not in this proposal and she says, no thank you sir. It's too much. She says sorry she leaves and Kat was watching through the window and Nick sees her.

[00:13:41] So they walk, he shows her his boat, not in any window but I'm sure Nick was wishing that

[00:13:45] it was. Now you can have this picture and it's the picture of the proposal and Alice and Jake are in the background. So he's been just saving that for today. Uh, Alice goes to the cafe, open mic. Brady gives her the proposal ring that he gave the cat, uh, when they got engaged and he's like, you can have this now cause you're our love story. It's very sweet.

[00:15:00] Uh, she asked her mom if she's sure that she never saw her again after that night, uh,

[00:15:06] back then.

[00:15:07] And she's like, why are you asking this? all the time with songs. They had a Dave Matthew, the space between. And instead, they played Sister Hazel. Like they do, it's a thing that they're doing. Well, okay, let's take a quick break. We'll come back. Maybe we'll get some Green Day on the way on the other side of the break. I don't know. I don't know. There's no way to really tell.

[00:16:20] Are they here?

[00:16:20] Here on, deck the hallmarks.

[00:16:21] Deck the hallmarks. Are you guys familiar with the television program heroes This this thing if you saved a cheerleader you save the world turns not true

[00:17:44] Great a great slogan. Yes. Yeah after a week off and then an episode we didn't like, where all we're doing is having Del and Brady talk to lawyers and stuff. Like, this is not what I'm looking for on a B plot after an episode. I mean, it was really just uninteresting television. And then, like, ultimately, I also had a big problem with the fact that this episode very much felt out of place.

[00:19:03] Not that I need a direct follow-up

[00:19:05] to Alice being the worst waitress we've ever seen, one of heroes, I immediately have to like just take a deep breath because I'm like you you're trying like I was with the Phantom Menace. Yeah, that's a solid show. I I Like this episode fine. I do I understand what Ryan is saying This episode didn't bother me quite as much

[00:21:42] I my big concern

[00:21:44] and maybe I should say it for sink or swim, but my big concern is

[00:22:42] Like every episode has been setting up and we're trying to do things.

[00:22:43] And my big concern is that we're gonna get to the end

[00:22:44] of the season and we're still gonna be setting up.

[00:22:47] And because it just keeps happening.

[00:22:49] You're just kind of like,

[00:22:51] how can they possibly have another episode of set up?

[00:22:53] And here we are again, we've done it again.

[00:22:55] And we did it again.

[00:22:58] So that is my concern.

[00:23:00] I do still have trust in these show runners

[00:23:05] that they're gonna figure this out.

[00:23:06] I think the elements them are viable, necessary

[00:24:20] to say complaints.

[00:24:22] The good side of this episode for me was I thought you got to see some of the original

[00:24:26] characters and what made them so great to begin with. you're gonna see something. You're gonna see something. That's right. Yeah. And let me explain before you see it. That's right. Let me get out in front of this. Imagine having a gift. Correct. Of knowing that my child is going to see potentially something detrimental that I was a part of, and I get to get ahead of it. You know, yeah. And explain myself.

[00:25:40] Exactly.

[00:25:41] She's not gonna do it, but she could.

[00:25:43] Yeah, I think that there's so many problems like that

[00:25:46] that they're starting to arise.

[00:25:46] And the reason that they've written good characters and that we care about more than just a time-traveling pond, I think that would do them a lot of good because you would find deeper mysteries and you would find more things to talk about, but instead we're getting this wide net of all these characters, this mythology, they're going there. And so I liked, I know that I've already seen in the chat, someone briefly said, I can't believe they brought up 9-11. I thought using that as a shift of focus in that time period was really like,

[00:28:23] you have some fans of this show who maybe 20, 22, 23, 24,

[00:28:26] who don't know if they were trying to get like that big with this, but the fact that there's two wars going on at the same time. Seems to be too much to be coincidental. Like I did think of it, but I didn't see a connection, but you're right. I think that there's a pretty clear like both time travel, like, and also it's just like the fun that I think we should be having with this show is fun

[00:29:42] that they're not having.

[00:29:43] Like, you know, Alice going back in time

[00:29:46] and staying too long, or Kat going back in time may still have some affection for Kat. And it's, you know, I don't know how to feel about that. I don't think it's a bad character. I just think the show is trying to go, like you said, like it's getting to the point where they're like, we gotta just start throwing some wing dingers out there. We gotta really just start just aiming for the fences.

[00:31:01] And the way you aim for the fences is by going deeper

[00:31:05] into the characters you've already crafted. because the flip side of that is that they could use that 10 minutes to just throw more stuff at the wall that maybe We wouldn't like and at least this is grounded from a character in season one We're just lost a little bit right now and no pun on the great show season four But this is I think season four episode one is when it started to lose me a little bit and then five six just came Out swinging and then it ended so fantastically. So there's hope there's hope

[00:32:22] absolutely new hope

[00:33:23] Again, what are we doing Hallmark? You gotta do, like if you're gonna do it,

[00:33:25] do it and get it out there.

[00:33:27] I wanna hear it.

[00:33:28] She brought it down enough octaves

[00:33:28] to where it made me think I could sing the song.

[00:33:31] Like she, like you know what I mean?

[00:33:33] I'm like, this is a layman's version of

[00:33:36] A Hundred Years by Fyper Fighting done at like-

[00:33:39] Listen, I've always said that sometimes

[00:33:41] you need a teenage girl to get a Fyper Fighting song

[00:33:44] to get to a male's level.

[00:33:45] That's right.

[00:33:46] And I feel like that that it was offensive anyway. And I thought they did it just fine. However, what I will say is I get what they were going for, but making Alice borderline oblivious to 9 11. What?

[00:35:04] They're going for she's young and she's focused on her problems. Like, you know,

[00:36:20] but it was like, she know it in 2001, excuse me, you know it was a big deal. Like you know this is like, people came home, they got near their families. I remember driving on the interstate feeling like a doofus for being the only person driving without an American flag flying from my Asuzu rodeo. Like I remember it, like it was yesterday being like,

[00:36:24] I gotta go get an American flag stat,

[00:36:27] like I'm literally on the interstate, beat for beat a ride episode. Like beat. Yeah. To this. Like to the point where I kid you not, I genuinely thought the tough tones were going to be at the open mic. Like it's like, it's like, and I just don't understand, Al, for episode four season two, we need, we need 10 minutes of Brady and we, you know what we really liked season one a

[00:37:41] ride.

[00:37:42] Let's do what they were doing.

[00:37:43] Yeah.

[00:37:44] I don't get it. There is no threat. She still owns the land. The land is not going anywhere. She has to either sell some of it if she doesn't have someone leasing it or she has to find another source of income. So this plot is worse than Ride, Brian, because in Ride, Nancy Travis

[00:39:00] could lose the farm. Dell, there is already got plans, I'll see you later. Maybe a little hurt as a dad, but I get it. You can't move, you can't just move everything around. You then go out to get some coffee with your ex-wife and you go out there and you're like, this is great. We're going to catch up. We're going

[00:40:21] to talk about what's going on. She then says, hey, do you mind one that I'm not sure is a wait what so please correct me in the chat if I'm wrong Did we just start calling Jacob Jake? Did we just or have they been throwing Jake in for the last 14 episodes? I think there's a sporadic Jake I think I think Kat's just a name abbreviator. Okay, but you would be you would be nice of the time when like I I couldn't remember

[00:41:43] a single time which meant it probably had happened occasionally, but

[00:42:41] I give tours on it all summer.

[00:42:44] And then you get to keep it.

[00:42:46] I'm confused. It's just a quick timeout, just a 30 here,

[00:42:48] just a quick one.

[00:42:49] What?

[00:42:52] Someone lent you a boat and said,

[00:42:53] do tours, I'll pay you to do the tours,

[00:42:55] I'm keeping the money.

[00:42:57] But then in the off season, you get to keep the boat.

[00:43:01] At least bring women to it.

[00:43:02] Or girls.

[00:43:04] Either it's your boat or it isn't.

[00:43:06] But to say it's not your boat, than the American flag on the truck. I gotta be honest. The image painted of me today is like I could sue you for defamation. I'm sorry I painted you as an American loving, tip giving when deserved type of person. Go ahead. Don't worry, we'll get Brady on the line to defend

[00:44:21] you. That's right. Yes, Brady. He's trying to get to know Alice. I think that kind of like- So do you think they're both her kids? Both from the future. No, I was gonna say, I think it's the intern's dad. Like I think that is Alice's future husband.

[00:45:42] Oh, you think?

[00:45:43] Oh.

[00:45:44] Okay, interesting.

[00:45:45] It's just not like solid on it,

[00:45:47] but like I had that thought.

[00:45:48] Yeah, Alice's- a, a drowned it. Drowned. He just drowned it. That is a move that they're not capable of pulling off, but I'm here to watch them try to do it. That we know. Dog time travels. The only, the only two people that we have 100% certainty traveled are Kat and Alice. Well, and with, with 100% certainty, the old ahead, go ahead. All right, sorry, sorry man. I love it. Thank you. So I was gonna do my thing, and I'm still gonna do it where I give you a line that could point to Elliot being a villain, but then I'm also going to highlight the issue that I'm beginning to have with this. So Kat's talking about the mean lady from the past,

[00:48:22] and Elliot goes, was she anything like me?

[00:48:24] And Kat, with all the foreshadowing in the world,

[00:48:26] says, well, she, I'm not crazy, it is Elliot looking at a picture, sipping a cup of coffee like this, it is the most, I would, I would wager to say, the most nefarious, like, wink of the show. Wow. And, and. Wow, wow, wow. And also, the way that they show him,

[00:49:42] and how he loves, loves, I'm putting that in quotes,

[00:49:45] because what he's good storytelling. Yes, excellent. If not, it's just a wholeheartedly unlikable, unsightly character. Yes, it is. If this is Elliot's origin story

[00:51:00] as a villain that knows all the timelines,

[00:51:03] I'm freaking here for it, man.

[00:51:04] Like, love it.

[00:51:06] If it's not, then, blah.

[00:52:02] that we get a double nearly nude and we get to see hot neighbor nearly nude.

[00:52:05] Are they nearly nude together?

[00:52:06] I don't know.

[00:52:07] Double nearly nude.

[00:52:08] You're just putting that out in the universe.

[00:52:09] Double nearly, I'm putting it out.

[00:52:11] They tried to tempt us with a single nearly nude.

[00:52:14] We've never even had a single.

[00:52:14] Can I raise you to two?

[00:52:16] Yeah, I love it.

[00:52:17] Can I get you to do a double nearly nude?

[00:52:18] This was a big talk before the show started.

[00:52:19] We've had nothing near a nearly nude

[00:52:21] and you're like, they're gonna do double.

[00:52:22] They're gonna do double.

[00:52:23] This is everyone time traveling.

[00:52:25] Now double nearly nude.

[00:52:26] The schmexual tension between these two Set decor is by pair and Shay mall. [00:53:43] It's really up to you at this point is at the end of the show. I mean,
