[00:00:39] I'm Dan, I also watch the way home.
[00:00:41] Welcome on guys!
[00:00:42] And this is the Deck The Hallmark Podcast!
[00:00:44] Deck The Hallmark, it's this podcast!
[00:00:47] We hope you like this dolly podcast!
[00:00:57] Wow everybody!
[00:01:05] Oh, way home!
[00:01:06] I gotta be honest, episode 8.
[00:01:08] I'm concerned that you are not gonna have any like you were barely in London.
[00:01:13] We were coming back!
[00:01:15] I've said this for years, works more important than family.
[00:01:19] That is something that always, you know that was something that my life knew when she met me as work is so much more important than family.
[00:01:27] What can I ask you?
[00:01:29] That everybody that meets me I think the takeaway is he's a workaholic.
[00:01:35] But your family's flying back tonight or are you gonna, when we get done here are you popping back?
[00:01:41] I'm just popping back over so I can fly because you know flying with kids is difficult.
[00:01:44] Yes, of course you want to be there for the tough stuff.
[00:01:47] Yeah, that was amazing.
[00:01:48] That was the memories.
[00:01:49] Yeah, those were the memories are made.
[00:01:51] Have I missed everything?
[00:01:53] Yeah but look!
[00:01:54] You saw the clock.
[00:01:55] Yeah the clock, yeah the big little big wheel.
[00:01:57] And walk up.
[00:01:58] Yeah, I pip piped to a few people.
[00:02:01] I got a pint of logger at a pub.
[00:02:03] I feel like that pretty much covers it.
[00:02:05] London doesn't have a lot of history in it.
[00:02:07] Those 18 hours you were there were sick.
[00:02:09] They were unbelievable.
[00:02:11] But I got to know a lot of people on flights, you know?
[00:02:14] I spent a lot of time on flights.
[00:02:16] Yeah who's your favorite person you met?
[00:02:18] Terrell.
[00:02:19] Terrell.
[00:02:20] What was Terrell's deal?
[00:02:21] Is Terrell from London or is he from States Island?
[00:02:23] Terrell is from London.
[00:02:24] Right.
[00:02:25] They are Chimney Sweep.
[00:02:27] Really?
[00:02:28] Yeah they still have those in London.
[00:02:29] I love that.
[00:02:30] Yeah Terrell just could get on the plane and for some reason I saw Terrell multiple planes which is weird.
[00:02:37] Terrell is just sitting over the place.
[00:02:40] Nobody wanted to sit near him and I'm like I'll sit with Terrell.
[00:02:43] Terrell's lived a life.
[00:02:45] So on your particular flight, there are people that no one wants to sit by and that's just how it goes.
[00:02:51] Yeah so you get it's just you did.
[00:02:53] So fly to the private jet.
[00:02:55] I'll private jet.
[00:02:56] Yeah yeah and I Terrell is.
[00:02:57] Right.
[00:02:58] We shared we bought a ticket.
[00:03:00] We shared the private.
[00:03:02] I can't really get it.
[00:03:03] Yeah well it's like Groupon but for private jet.
[00:03:06] There's no way I can possibly afford to fly commercial back and forth every day to record this show.
[00:03:11] I got a private jet.
[00:03:12] Yeah but you gotta share the private jet with Terrell.
[00:03:16] With Terrell.
[00:03:17] Strangerly.
[00:03:18] Well, sooty Terrell.
[00:03:19] Is he sooty?
[00:03:20] So the Chimney Sweep is mid-suit?
[00:03:22] I don't know.
[00:03:23] I just know there's a lot of suit involved.
[00:03:25] It was a suit heavy.
[00:03:26] But is he sooty?
[00:03:28] Yeah.
[00:03:29] On the jet.
[00:03:30] He shows up just soot just like no one wants to sit by him.
[00:03:33] How many people are he sharing the jet with?
[00:03:35] The 8 to 10.
[00:03:36] Yeah.
[00:03:37] Okay.
[00:03:38] Well that's good.
[00:03:39] I got a good time Dan.
[00:03:40] We did that great.
[00:03:41] Yeah no it's been good.
[00:03:42] London's been great but I'm happy to be here because work is so important.
[00:03:45] Speaking of a good time.
[00:03:46] Ryan, I have not for the past week or so stopped hearing about in sync.
[00:03:52] Was it all you ever wanted?
[00:03:54] Ryan.
[00:03:55] Yeah that was really.
[00:03:56] You clearly only know three songs yet you're ready to whip out the references at the uncanny rate of.
[00:04:00] We gotta get moving because in 30 minutes my phone is ringing.
[00:04:03] I'm gonna say bye bye bye.
[00:04:04] We gotta get moving.
[00:04:05] Hey, Carolyn and Sinkfan.
[00:04:06] Something to think about on the right back.
[00:04:07] More of a back street boys guy.
[00:04:08] I'll say this.
[00:04:09] This episode that we're getting ready to talk about is really tearing up my heart.
[00:04:13] Ah, it's nicely done.
[00:04:15] Yeah.
[00:04:16] Okay I think we did it all.
[00:04:17] One of us is going to not like this episode.
[00:04:20] It's going to be me.
[00:04:21] Ah!
[00:04:22] That's spiny.
[00:04:23] Anyway what's going on?
[00:04:25] That's four songs.
[00:04:27] Thank you.
[00:04:28] I'm going to sing it.
[00:04:29] I'm going to sing it.
[00:04:30] I'm going to sing it.
[00:04:31] So that's four songs.
[00:04:32] Thank you very much.
[00:04:33] Thank you very much.
[00:04:34] Anyway, anyway what's going on?
[00:04:35] Maybe we may be the first to wish you America is happy holidays.
[00:04:38] Um so uh I don't in sync reunited.
[00:04:42] I mean it's I guess it's about what almost seven days old now but in sync reunited at a
[00:04:46] temporary like show because his album came out on Friday and there's an instinct song on
[00:04:50] there as we all know Dan's super intro.
[00:04:52] Oh gosh.
[00:04:53] Yeah.
[00:04:54] And it was a big deal.
[00:04:55] I mean they did a day to do a little medley.
[00:04:56] They performed a new song brand.
[00:04:58] I think you'll like the new song better than the troll song.
[00:05:01] I like it.
[00:05:02] I like it.
[00:05:03] Yeah.
[00:05:04] So I think listen, I think 2025, 30th anniversary of the group I think we get the tour.
[00:05:09] I think that's what I think.
[00:05:10] Wow.
[00:05:11] 25 or 30th.
[00:05:12] Yeah.
[00:05:13] When's 25 coming up?
[00:05:14] No, no, no, 20, 25.
[00:05:15] Oh, I thought you were 30.
[00:05:16] 25 or 30th anniversary of the tour.
[00:05:17] I was like can we get tarot on here to.
[00:05:18] Yeah, I'm sorry.
[00:05:19] Yeah.
[00:05:20] I have a bond.
[00:05:21] So this is not something to make fun of.
[00:05:22] Yeah.
[00:05:24] Yeah.
[00:05:25] I have a bond.
[00:05:26] So that's not something to make fun of.
[00:05:28] But the nice thing is, the thing is if it wasn't for folks like you that were getting
[00:05:36] the streams up for this small indie band, this tour would never happen.
[00:05:41] And I will say my work on the troll's three song release where I created the playlist
[00:05:46] where every four songs was the in sync song.
[00:05:49] I do think change that.
[00:05:50] What do you, what do you do aside from being on this show?
[00:05:53] Do you do anything that's like equivalent of that to help support your friends or the
[00:05:56] just strangers that you don't know.
[00:05:59] You add to play less every four songs.
[00:06:02] A little column A, a little column B.
[00:06:04] A little column B.
[00:06:05] Yeah.
[00:06:06] Can I give you my hot take?
[00:06:07] The song better place by in sync which I've now heard because of trolls band together and
[00:06:11] my kids love the soundtrack.
[00:06:13] I've heard it no less than 100 times.
[00:06:16] There's another song on that troll soundtrack that Timberlake features on called Perfect Harmony.
[00:06:22] But it's him and the the brozone band that they're getting together.
[00:06:27] That song is better than better place.
[00:06:31] Fair enough.
[00:06:32] Fair enough.
[00:06:33] It's better.
[00:06:34] And I wish that would have been the song that in sync would have used to come back instead of
[00:06:40] better place.
[00:06:41] They could have let better place for brozone.
[00:06:44] I think brand hit the nail on the head when we were talking about this months ago when
[00:06:48] it was all first happening.
[00:06:49] That may be the troll thing wasn't the best roll out of the stinger yet.
[00:06:52] But we've course corrected.
[00:06:54] We've course corrected.
[00:06:55] You know, we're working now.
[00:06:56] Can I give you a hot take real quick?
[00:06:58] Some more trolls three content.
[00:06:59] I love film.
[00:07:00] Baby branch cool character adult branch total douche.
[00:07:05] Yeah.
[00:07:06] Yeah.
[00:07:07] That's a take.
[00:07:08] You heard it here first everybody.
[00:07:09] Dude, my kids just care about tiny diamonds.
[00:07:11] They don't care about anything else in those movies.
[00:07:13] They're like when's tiny diamond come on screen?
[00:07:15] That's fair.
[00:07:16] Yeah, but the film was totally fine.
[00:07:17] But I always was like man this temper like character is a bit of a jerk.
[00:07:20] Like I didn't like him at all.
[00:07:22] Yeah, he is a little bit of a jerk.
[00:07:23] But I will read you know he's mistreated by his brothers.
[00:07:26] Come on man.
[00:07:27] Like you got to understand where people come from.
[00:07:30] Brand hit the recap for trolls three band together.
[00:07:32] Well last hot tag on trolls is trolls two is the best one.
[00:07:35] That is my last that's my absolute.
[00:07:38] Two three one two one three.
[00:07:40] Two three one two three in that order.
[00:07:43] Yes, two three one two three one one being the worst of the trolls films.
[00:07:47] Yes, I can't wait till we ranked the Star Wars flex.
[00:07:49] Yeah, you guys just take my takes.
[00:07:51] Oh it's going to be a lot of fun.
[00:07:52] Four Fridays coming your way.
[00:07:53] And I just want to say and I just want to say this really quickly.
[00:07:57] That it never on a regular basis Ryan I think about how you ranked the third mighty ducks as the best.
[00:08:07] He's something no, no, no, no, second best second best.
[00:08:11] That can best two three two three one.
[00:08:13] Yeah guys, when's the last time you watch?
[00:08:16] I think we have audio of him saying three two.
[00:08:19] You won't find it.
[00:08:20] You won't find it.
[00:08:21] Yeah, much like cat I've checked the archives.
[00:08:25] Have we have we done D3 take it to the tape?
[00:08:28] We haven't I did just watch my ducks one last week and I'm going to make I'm making my way through them.
[00:08:36] It's two it's two on three.
[00:08:38] If you're saying it's two three one, but see then I guarantee you haven't watched it probably want two decades.
[00:08:43] Oh easy.
[00:08:44] Yes, yes.
[00:08:45] Three I've watched my ducks two in the last two decades.
[00:08:48] Oh, I've not watched my ducks one or three in the last two in the last two weeks.
[00:08:53] I mean, it's a masterpiece.
[00:08:55] Well, I mean, let's go shake their hands.
[00:08:57] I feel like then we've just missed this is miscarriage of justice because in my head I always think there couldn't be a better person than Ryan Papola.
[00:09:05] And then I remember that he thinks D3 is the best mighty ducks and I'm like, no, that guy's just.
[00:09:10] Okay.
[00:09:11] All right.
[00:09:12] Good because we've been holding it against you and like we actually have like a lot of like there's a lot of possibilities with you and deck the homework
[00:09:20] and we've kind of been like maybe not because we were under that.
[00:09:24] We were under that colon's list and the colon just says D3 question mark.
[00:09:28] Yeah.
[00:09:29] How about this?
[00:09:30] How about this?
[00:09:31] He says D3.
[00:09:32] He says D3 is the best one.
[00:09:33] I think he said it.
[00:09:34] How about on the on the flight home later tonight?
[00:09:38] Later tonight.
[00:09:39] How about you save D3 on your Disney Plus and you watch it on the flight home?
[00:09:43] By the way, I like that Dan isn't going to watch it on the flight back there later tonight without his kids.
[00:09:49] Oh, no, no, no, no.
[00:09:50] I think for a sense.
[00:09:51] On one of the points to get a new judgment.
[00:09:54] I'd have to watch one and three right because I'm not either in two decades.
[00:09:58] His point is one doesn't hold up like you think it is.
[00:10:00] Fran, did you leave D1 thinking excellent film?
[00:10:03] I left D1 gosh.
[00:10:06] I was with eight or nine when that movie came out and I left thinking excellent film.
[00:10:10] Yeah, good movie.
[00:10:11] No, good thing it's a good movie.
[00:10:13] That's when he came out before y'all were born.
[00:10:15] Did it not?
[00:10:16] I mean, I think I was one maybe.
[00:10:18] My take the ways rewatching D1 is that the flying V is they should have just defend just push through.
[00:10:26] Like this is hockey as a physical sport.
[00:10:29] They figured out by D3 they do figured out the three the triple D.
[00:10:32] An overrated move over it's an overrated.
[00:10:36] And it's E2.
[00:10:37] It's absolutely overrated because home boy triple deeks but then stops.
[00:10:41] That's right.
[00:10:42] Yeah, eliminating the eliminating the entire purpose of the triple D.
[00:10:45] The triple D.
[00:10:46] But also Fulton you've got bomb A.
[00:10:49] You got a rag tag bunch of kids on a D2 is a masterpiece.
[00:10:52] My biggest takeaway from D1 though is just how crazy the character of Hans is.
[00:10:58] That we had a full movie without Hans and the writer of D1 said what it can I just throw one more thing at you?
[00:11:07] What if we add this really complicated character name, Hans?
[00:11:11] And Lahn and German care.
[00:11:13] And let's just hope no one asks questions about him and like what his backstory is and all of that.
[00:11:18] Like because that would get that would get muddy.
[00:11:21] He was just put them in there and then it'll be great.
[00:11:24] And we love Hans.
[00:11:25] But does anyone miss Hans and D2?
[00:11:27] I'm a big young guy.
[00:11:28] Yeah, no, no one misses Hans.
[00:11:30] Nobody misses Hans.
[00:11:31] A really weird character to add to that movie that's already pretty full of characters.
[00:11:35] Without question also do you want a bit more of an edgy or film of the three?
[00:11:39] Like definitely has like there's a blue balls joke.
[00:11:42] Yeah, there is.
[00:11:43] No, there's like listen, bombay in this kids movie is he's drunk driving.
[00:11:49] Yes.
[00:11:50] And like it's all you should be for your punishment.
[00:11:53] Yeah, it's pretty wild that movie anyway.
[00:11:57] Let's talk about the way home.
[00:11:59] Let's jump back.
[00:12:00] So we did a smooth sailing here.
[00:12:02] Let's jump back in the pond.
[00:12:03] Let's jump back in the pond.
[00:12:05] We're going to have everyone lose yourself in the music the moment.
[00:12:09] The song's not in the episode though.
[00:12:12] That was the name of this episode.
[00:12:13] Yeah, lose yourself.
[00:12:14] Oh, they're just this is just another reason to be down on the season.
[00:12:16] They're just doing whatever they want.
[00:12:17] Absolutely.
[00:12:18] Like they're just making fun of us now.
[00:12:21] They're asking for us to say the way home sucks.
[00:12:23] Oh boy.
[00:12:24] Originally I had on March 17th, 2024 and I went a little something like this.
[00:12:28] The episode kicks off with Jacob talking what?
[00:12:34] Jacob and Kat are talking to talk last episode.
[00:12:37] He said, cat.
[00:12:38] I don't know if you heard him.
[00:12:40] So Jacob is talking about how this had all happened.
[00:12:43] He remembers falling into the pond.
[00:12:45] He remembers the woods.
[00:12:47] Kat and Jacob are talking about talking out by the water.
[00:12:51] And she asked him if he remembers telling them when he first showed up like who he was
[00:12:56] and how he came there and what they did with his clothes.
[00:12:58] And he's like, I don't remember any of that.
[00:13:00] And I don't even know what to believe.
[00:13:02] I don't even know what to believe anymore.
[00:13:04] She asked about drawing their symbol on the table and he's like, I was a kid.
[00:13:09] Who knows why I did that?
[00:13:11] Thomas and Susanna show up and they're like, look at you.
[00:13:14] And he's like, look at me.
[00:13:16] Kat's like, this has been fun.
[00:13:18] I got to go.
[00:13:19] See you later alligator.
[00:13:21] Jacob says, why don't you come find me sooner?
[00:13:24] Which is not how you what you say back.
[00:13:26] It's in a while, Crockett.
[00:13:28] After a while.
[00:13:29] You say after a while.
[00:13:32] I've heard it both ways.
[00:13:34] Aaron tiebreaker?
[00:13:36] I say in a while.
[00:13:37] Yeah!
[00:13:38] Dan's a loser!
[00:13:40] This is new answer.
[00:13:41] Go back to London, you loser.
[00:13:43] That's right.
[00:13:44] Terrible.
[00:13:45] Dan's a loser.
[00:13:46] Dan's a loser.
[00:13:47] Dan's a loser.
[00:13:48] Don't let him never talk to me like this ever.
[00:13:50] Yeah, you go, go, go, go, go get Soty with your friends.
[00:13:53] Get in Soty with it.
[00:13:54] That's exactly right.
[00:13:55] No, no, no, no, no.
[00:13:56] She tells Thomas that she's going to be back soon but the pond is wild.
[00:14:00] It could be days, it could be months, it could be years.
[00:14:03] Thomas promises to keep him safe until she's back.
[00:14:06] They have a little bit of a moment there.
[00:14:08] I cat shows back up into the present, soaking wet.
[00:14:12] Dell is like, I don't even want to know.
[00:14:15] We can talk about it later.
[00:14:16] Which means never.
[00:14:18] She tells Elliott and Alice that Jacob is safe alive.
[00:14:21] So recovering.
[00:14:22] She tells Elliott that Thomas is going to help keep him safe
[00:14:26] and Elliott is like, who's this Thomas?
[00:14:29] Immediately jealous of a guy named Thomas that he knows nothing about.
[00:14:33] Nick shows up and is trying to convince Elliott to tear down a wall in his house
[00:14:39] and in the process discovers the, well, fine.
[00:14:43] It's not really discovered.
[00:14:44] It finds the time-traveled journal but he doesn't open it up
[00:14:48] and so he doesn't really know what it is but he's like, oh, this silly guy.
[00:14:51] He's like a school book.
[00:14:52] School book, yeah, that's exactly right.
[00:14:54] Noah shows up and tells Alice, hey, sorry about the kiss and Alice is like,
[00:14:59] let's just blame the backstreet boys.
[00:15:00] And I think that's more than fake.
[00:15:02] Yeah, I think we should have all been there.
[00:15:03] Regularly.
[00:15:04] Evelyn Goodwin tells Dell that she wants to buy the land
[00:15:07] and that would include DePon.
[00:15:09] DePon.
[00:15:10] DePon.
[00:15:11] And when cat finds this out, she's like, you can't do that!
[00:15:14] You can't get rid of the pawn!
[00:15:16] And Del's like, I can do whatever I want to.
[00:15:18] It's my land.
[00:15:19] And also, I still feel indebted to her about what happened back in 2002.
[00:15:23] And what happened back in 2007?
[00:15:25] Most people would have left us after what happened there.
[00:15:28] She didn't!
[00:15:29] She's stuck by my sides!
[00:15:31] Alice is hearing all of this happening and after cat leaves, she comes out and asks Dell
[00:15:36] what happened in 2007.
[00:15:38] And she also said I'm sorry for 2004.
[00:15:41] Of course she says hey!
[00:15:44] What are these daughters?
[00:15:45] You don't have...
[00:15:46] Not RIP obviously.
[00:15:47] No, he's alive.
[00:15:48] Totally alive.
[00:15:49] That's right.
[00:15:50] And that was indisubbing.
[00:15:52] What would you do?
[00:15:54] I would just watch you and...
[00:15:57] I can't even finish it.
[00:15:59] And you're a murderer.
[00:16:01] But if Clay Acre was invisible, he would just watch you in your room.
[00:16:04] That's exactly right.
[00:16:05] That's what he'd do.
[00:16:07] She asked about 2007, Dell's like, you don't need to worry about that.
[00:16:11] But here is a fun tidbit for you.
[00:16:14] It is the reason why me and your mom didn't talk for 17 years.
[00:16:16] And then Dell just walks right off after sharing that.
[00:16:20] Alice, not wanting to wait for answers about what actually happened, decides now is the time
[00:16:25] to go back in time.
[00:16:27] It's time to dive back into that pond.
[00:16:30] When she comes out, she sees Dell and Cat arguing.
[00:16:33] And we see that Cat is...
[00:16:36] Sorry, that Dell is trying to sell.
[00:16:38] The house to farm everything.
[00:16:39] The first sale sign is out.
[00:16:41] And that is why Cat is upset.
[00:16:43] She sees Elliot and he's like, what are you doing here?
[00:16:45] It's been five years you can tell by my peach fuzz.
[00:16:48] When Cat shows up...
[00:16:49] What are you doing in my tree house?
[00:16:51] That's exactly right.
[00:16:52] When Cat shows up, he sells Alice to hide because she's the hasn't aged today.
[00:16:56] She doesn't have any peach fuzz.
[00:16:58] How do we know that she's any older?
[00:16:59] I can't even grow it.
[00:17:00] No.
[00:17:01] Cat gets mad at Elliot for not telling her that Dell was selling the house.
[00:17:06] In present day, Elliot, Cat, Monica and Nick, they're on a ghost tour.
[00:17:11] And Cat can't help but correct the tour guide about the white witch.
[00:17:16] And it's at this point that she's like, oh yeah Elliot, I'm the white witch.
[00:17:18] It's a whole thing.
[00:17:20] Back in 07, Cat convinces Elliot that they should throw a party at the linger more
[00:17:25] estate because he's watching the house.
[00:17:28] And he's like, well would that include Brady?
[00:17:30] And she's like, oh, I left Brady.
[00:17:32] And he's like, yes we should party!
[00:17:34] We should party!
[00:17:36] In present day, Cat and Elliot are arguing because she wants to do something.
[00:17:40] She wanted to talk to Alice before she went back to 2007.
[00:17:45] Obviously she didn't get to do that, seeing as how she's never around.
[00:17:48] Nick and Monica come out and ask if they want to all go get a drink.
[00:17:52] And Elliot says, come back to my place.
[00:17:54] It'll be fun.
[00:17:56] Alice is sneaking around the party which turned into an absolute rage
[00:18:01] or things to a rogue Facebook invitation fiasco.
[00:18:06] She sees Nick.
[00:18:08] They do a weird thing where they're looking at each other through like a gate almost.
[00:18:13] I don't even really know what it is.
[00:18:15] They're looking glassy.
[00:18:16] They are looking at each other.
[00:18:18] He like sticks his hand out, they touch hands and he decides, well now I'm going to go around the corner here
[00:18:23] and get to you but in that time she ran away.
[00:18:26] And he's like, whoa, that was crazy huh?
[00:18:29] When she runs away she finds Cat and Elliot talking privately.
[00:18:33] And she listens in as Cat is talking about leaving Brady and that she got into this graduate school.
[00:18:39] And they decide, they're going to be wild and crazy kids and they're going to go to London together.
[00:18:45] That's been wonderful.
[00:18:47] You love it.
[00:18:48] They met a...
[00:18:49] Terrible.
[00:18:50] Terrible, they know Terrible.
[00:18:51] And he's like, I would love to go with you.
[00:18:54] I will do anything to be around you.
[00:18:57] I'm going to shut this party down.
[00:18:59] You go pack, I'll pick you up at midnight.
[00:19:01] We'll catch that one of you in flight to London is going to be dynamite.
[00:19:04] Make it short.
[00:19:06] Sam and Dell in present day are having a drink together.
[00:19:10] He once again offers her money this time.
[00:19:13] Hey, I heard about your farm program, Farm for Kids.
[00:19:17] Yeah.
[00:19:18] And I would like to help fund that.
[00:19:20] She once again turns down perfectly good money even though she is desperately in need of some money.
[00:19:26] Present day, Elliott and Kat are having a fun night.
[00:19:30] They're listening to music.
[00:19:32] That isn't until Elliott asks about Thomas.
[00:19:35] Hey, what's going on between you and Thomas?
[00:19:37] She's like nothing is going on between me and Thomas.
[00:19:39] And she gets mad and she goes outside.
[00:19:41] Back at the rager, Brady shows up and that's not good.
[00:19:45] Alice confronts Elliott and she's like, hey, you can't run away with my mom.
[00:19:51] You're not supposed to be a part of her life like that.
[00:19:54] Ladies, my dad, they need to end up together.
[00:19:57] You need to help make sure that happens or else I guess I'm going to disappear, say cheese and die.
[00:20:02] Back to you, you three.
[00:20:03] He's like watch me.
[00:20:04] Watch what I'm going to do.
[00:20:05] I'm going to run away with it.
[00:20:06] Watch me.
[00:20:07] Watch me.
[00:20:08] Exactly right.
[00:20:09] Present day, Elliott comes outside to talk to Kat.
[00:20:11] They argue a little bit.
[00:20:12] They talk about how the timings never write with them and he's like, screw timing and he goes and he kisses her.
[00:20:18] Big kisses.
[00:20:19] Inside Nick is on the phone with his girlfriend.
[00:20:21] Remember they had broke her fiance.
[00:20:22] They had broke their bear.
[00:20:23] Clear bear.
[00:20:24] Clear bear.
[00:20:25] And they decide they're going to get together and talk things out.
[00:20:28] They are going to meet at a place and he needs to write down where they're going to meet.
[00:20:32] He needs to write down the place.
[00:20:33] And so he pulls out the time travel log to write down that location.
[00:20:39] And it's at this point that he begins to read the time travel log.
[00:20:43] And he is like WTF.
[00:20:46] He storms outside, holds it up and says how do you explain this?
[00:20:51] What is this?
[00:20:52] Explain yourself.
[00:20:53] Finally, back at the party.
[00:20:55] Brady and Kat are arguing.
[00:20:56] Elliott says hey man she wants you to leave.
[00:21:00] Brady is like nah man I'm not leaving.
[00:21:02] They start to fight in the midst of this fight.
[00:21:05] Kat ends up getting hit.
[00:21:07] She falls face down in the fountain.
[00:21:10] And blood is coming from her head and we're like uh oh.
[00:21:14] And now my friends was away home.
[00:21:17] Loser sells season four to watch 17th.

[00:22:39] We're talking about the way home season two episode eight.
[00:22:42] Get real, Brian.
[00:22:44] It sure is.
[00:22:46] It sure is.
[00:22:48] Lot to talk about today.
[00:22:50] We had actual conversations between Kat and Jacob.
[00:22:53] We had what happened in 07.
[00:22:55] We've got a lot.
[00:22:57] Let's share our thoughts on it.
[00:22:59] We're going to start with the hot take.
[00:23:01] It is where we share exactly how he felt about this movie.
[00:23:03] This episode.
[00:23:05] It's about the way home season two episode eight.
[00:23:09] Is it possible to have this be the episode I enjoyed the most this season,
[00:23:15] but think it's the worst that yes, that possible as well articulated as it could possibly be.
[00:23:24] This is so well done.
[00:23:26] I didn't I couldn't click it into place till you just said it.
[00:23:30] Yes.
[00:23:32] Thanks Dan.
[00:23:33] I'm sorry.
[00:23:34] It's so there's a bunch of reasons for that right?
[00:23:36] If felt jarring and convenient,
[00:23:39] that all of a sudden we were just in 2007, right?
[00:23:42] Yeah.
[00:23:43] And now here's where I like listen,
[00:23:45] because I know some people have been tough on us and I understand some people just saying,
[00:23:48] hey, we're enjoying this thing.
[00:23:49] Don't bash on this thing that we're enjoying,
[00:23:52] especially when Ryan and Brandt think jingle all the way as a master.
[00:23:55] That's right.
[00:23:56] Right.
[00:23:57] I get it.
[00:23:58] Somebody has somebody brought that up.
[00:23:59] No, but I think that's a fair argument.
[00:24:01] It's not I'm not a perfect.
[00:24:04] You can't say that.
[00:24:06] Clay Aiken and the invisible.
[00:24:08] So here's where I would admit to being hypocritical,
[00:24:12] but I want to make it I want to expand on why I think I'm right.
[00:24:16] I loved that we were not in 1814 for more than two minutes.
[00:24:22] It's like a little trip.
[00:24:23] But after 18 episodes of telling us that the most important thing that can happen
[00:24:30] is that we find Jacob for as much as I've hated 1814.
[00:24:36] It's insane to only spend two minutes in 1814 and it's worse from a character narrative perspective
[00:24:45] for cat to say finding Jacob is the most I'm going to ruin my life to find Jacob
[00:24:52] and then say, you know what?
[00:24:54] One tough conversation.
[00:24:55] I can be up.
[00:24:56] Maybe I'll come back episode nine.
[00:24:58] No, like it's so it's those things don't work and on top of that there still was just a lot of stuff I don't care about.
[00:25:07] Cat and Jacob not being on the same page, I think is a miss.
[00:25:10] They should have had a big embrace.
[00:25:12] I know maybe we're saving that for Dell, but we have problems with Dell doing that with Jacob
[00:25:16] because it doesn't make sense narratively.
[00:25:18] Cat and Thomas don't care.
[00:25:19] Selling the land to a good one don't care.
[00:25:21] And then the ending of the episode I think is interesting,
[00:25:24] but we know cats going to live because this show exists.
[00:25:27] Yes, I see my time.
[00:25:29] I see my time.
[00:25:30] Bro, you're crushing it.
[00:25:31] Just just just fan the flames over there.
[00:25:34] Papola just on fire this morning.
[00:25:36] I said, I think it's interesting.
[00:25:39] Five minutes into this episode we leave 1814 and from then on I'm back baby.
[00:25:53] I loved it.
[00:25:54] I loved every second of it.
[00:25:56] And when we get to the end of this episode and we get the one Nick finding out about the time travel,
[00:26:03] that was the first, I think the first time this season I was like yeah!
[00:26:07] I was excited.
[00:26:08] Something that made me get real excited.
[00:26:10] And then the fight you're right.
[00:26:12] I mean we know she lives obviously but clearly there's a lot of stuff that stems from like what is going to happen
[00:26:21] because cat gets hit and gets hit.
[00:26:25] And that's the reason why Dell doesn't talk to her for a long time.
[00:26:28] No, there's got to be something else that we find out about what happened there
[00:26:31] that would lead to that type of a misrelationship between a mother and her daughter.
[00:26:40] So I don't know what else is to come but I do know that for me this was the most exciting episode
[00:26:46] and does it have anything to do with the fact that we were in 1814 for less than five minutes?
[00:26:50] Once the title card hits I think that was it.
[00:26:52] Yes, yes it has almost everything to do with that.
[00:26:55] I really enjoyed this episode and it is exciting for me to once again see something happen in this show and go
[00:27:04] oh yeah!
[00:27:05] I'm happy to be back.
[00:27:07] I'm happy to be back in this nice warm pocket of the way home.
[00:27:12] Dana?
[00:27:13] Sometimes people probably listen to this show and they think that we are like caricatures of ourselves
[00:27:19] and sometimes we are.
[00:27:20] I would hope that you know that about me from time to time.
[00:27:22] What you need to know about my buddy, Brian and Gray is that he is like this in virtually every aspect of life.
[00:27:30] Just give him one little morsel of hope that things aren't as bad as he thinks they are
[00:27:35] and he will be all in.
[00:27:37] He is an eternal forever optimist and for that I'm thankful to have him as a friend
[00:27:43] and also have the ininviable job of telling him more than I would like to that he is wrong.
[00:27:50] And that is the case in this particular episode.
[00:27:53] This episode is just completely off the rails.
[00:27:58] It is, I feel bad for the writers and creators because they are in a trap of their own making
[00:28:05] and they don't know that they are in it.
[00:28:08] And it just, it's very, very tough.
[00:28:12] Was it the most entertaining?
[00:28:13] Did it go by the quickest?
[00:28:14] Yes.
[00:28:15] It is the first time all season that I was like how I was for almost every episode last season which was,
[00:28:20] man 42 minutes is over already.
[00:28:22] That did happen and Ryan just crushed it with his take.
[00:28:27] To have the big moment between Kat and Jake be reduced to, I got to get going.
[00:28:36] Is one of the more egregious like mistakes he did the show has ever made.
[00:28:42] If not the most egregious mistakes have ever made.
[00:28:44] You have put us through so much for you to go, oh he has a life here and he's mad at you.
[00:28:50] No crap.
[00:28:51] Of course, of course he is.
[00:28:53] You got to power through there.
[00:28:55] Leaving again may re-emphasize that he was right but you're like, I look, I don't want to like dinner is it.
[00:29:03] I got to get nothing I can do.
[00:29:05] And then this show has become a show of people just going, we can't have that conversation right now.
[00:29:12] That's what it is.
[00:29:13] Like Kat comes back, how is she not screaming from the rooftops?
[00:29:18] Mom, I found your son.
[00:29:22] I found your son.
[00:29:24] He's alive.
[00:29:25] You can go see your son.
[00:29:27] Are you kidding me right now?
[00:29:29] If my son was lost and my other son didn't tell me immediately, oh my goodness.
[00:29:36] Or we can't do that.
[00:29:37] I'm going to take Alice to school.
[00:29:39] Did they just spin a mad lib wheel?
[00:29:42] Dell can't hear about her long lost son because she has to bring apples to Terrell.
[00:29:50] What in the world are we?
[00:29:53] Terrell's a big way home fan.
[00:29:55] I don't know if you know.
[00:29:56] Apple fan too.
[00:29:57] So I just, you lose all credibility with me.
[00:30:02] Yes, what I'd rather be dealing with O7.
[00:30:04] Yes, yes, yes, yes, a thousand times.
[00:30:07] But you put in the time, you put in the work, you got them back together.
[00:30:11] How?
[00:30:12] How?
[00:30:13] How?
[00:30:14] Do you do this?
[00:30:16] Do you just go well?
[00:30:17] They can't talk about it right now because Dell has to take Alice to school.
[00:30:21] I just, I couldn't believe it.
[00:30:24] And then guys, we can't change the past.
[00:30:27] They've already established she can't change the past.
[00:30:29] How many times are we going to learn that lesson?
[00:30:31] Alice wondering around like maybe I won't exist.
[00:30:35] Have you never traveled through time, through the pond before?
[00:30:38] Guys, they've established she can't change the past.
[00:30:41] And so what's happening now is, is she's just getting a really visceral history lesson.
[00:30:47] Like she's playing a part in her own history.
[00:30:50] But she's going to exist.
[00:30:52] She's going to exist next season.
[00:30:54] There'll be something else we haven't heard of apparently.
[00:30:57] Next season will be like, well, I can't believe you brought up the farm tornado of O9.
[00:31:04] What?
[00:31:05] Why have we not heard of this?
[00:31:06] So can Alice can go back and look at the farm tornado in O9 and be like,
[00:31:11] I thought Canada was too cold for these and then go back home.
[00:31:14] It is.
[00:31:15] And so yes, do we get Nick finding this thing in the episode?
[00:31:19] It feels like season one for a brief moment.
[00:31:22] Yes, but if you zoom out at all, if you zoom out at all,
[00:31:26] the show got worse this week.
[00:31:29] It got worse this week and that is so, so unfortunate and so disheartening
[00:31:35] for someone that wants to show to be good.
[00:31:37] That's all another one other quick thing Dan that just dragged my memory.
[00:31:40] Sorry.
[00:31:41] I know we got to move on.
[00:31:42] But also this is the second time they fake killed cat this season.
[00:31:46] The premiere and like we've done, we did this seven weeks ago.
[00:31:49] Like, and it's like so I don't know.
[00:31:51] I kind of feel like we're narratively banked up in a way there too.
[00:31:53] Oh yeah, we got nothing.
[00:31:55] The whole party, like for how often we heard about what it was,
[00:31:59] and we'll get to this in the way what?
[00:32:01] What it was wasn't nearly as bad as what we'd heard.
[00:32:04] Like it just wasn't.
[00:32:05] Yeah, she hit her head.
[00:32:06] Yeah.
[00:32:07] Yeah.
[00:32:08] We don't know though.
[00:32:09] We don't know what's going on at post what we see.
[00:32:12] There could be more.
[00:32:13] But we know how it ends up.
[00:32:14] We know where everyone is in 2024.
[00:32:17] Yeah.
[00:32:18] Okay, so we know that it can't be like she's not going to die.
[00:32:20] But what if it turns out?
[00:32:21] What if someone apologizing to Alice in modern day?
[00:32:24] He's not apologizing for something that's we've not seen yet.
[00:32:27] He's apologizing for trying to get cat to run away with him.
[00:32:30] That was the big thing.
[00:32:32] Alice, we'll get to it in the way what?
[00:32:33] I'll just hold it.
[00:32:34] We'll get to the way what?
[00:32:35] Yeah.
[00:32:36] Well let's get to all the fields and by the way I just want everyone to know
[00:32:38] all the way home fans out there your boy Brian has your back.
[00:32:41] I'm back.
[00:32:42] I'm back and it's good to be home.
[00:32:44] And so everybody in the comments all those homies out there.
[00:32:48] All the homies in the comments on today's social media post just say welcome back, Brian.
[00:32:53] Okay, let's say say that and then we'll be good to go.
[00:32:56] All the fields as we were talking about what in this episode gave us feels.
[00:33:00] Ryan.
[00:33:01] So since I 100% know what brands all the fields is,
[00:33:07] I will skip what my all the fields was and say that I will focus on the music of this episode.
[00:33:13] But not the song I would have focused on if I hosted this show with like Brian Harold or someone.
[00:33:18] Yeah, but they did also play one of the few fallout boy songs.
[00:33:22] I really, really like that chorus.
[00:33:25] That chorus from thanks for the memories and really.
[00:33:27] The one of the few fallout boys.
[00:33:30] I think you feel about fallout boy like I feel about Paramore.
[00:33:33] Well, I think so.
[00:33:34] And then Paramore might not even come up in this all.
[00:33:37] Yes, thank you.
[00:33:38] Good.
[00:33:39] That's right rightfully so.
[00:33:40] Yeah, but I do quite like that fallout boy song.
[00:33:43] Fallout boy two dozen great songs.
[00:33:44] I'm sorry.
[00:33:45] Two dozen.
[00:33:46] Two dozen.
[00:33:47] Two dozen.
[00:33:48] Two dozen.
[00:33:49] I work going down swing and I'm rampant.
[00:33:50] That's what it takes like those two dozen great.
[00:33:52] But I do dozen good Lord.
[00:33:56] Oh my.
[00:33:58] I watch the titles we be out of time because there's that long.
[00:34:01] There's nothing I could just do.
[00:34:03] Two dozen.
[00:34:04] Garth Brooks and fallout boy.
[00:34:06] Oh, God.
[00:34:07] Brooks has maybe you know it's not Billy Joel territory.
[00:34:10] I mean, you want to be like we're two dozen great songs.
[00:34:13] I don't know what you want from me.
[00:34:14] Fair affair.
[00:34:15] I'm flabbergasted brand.
[00:34:16] Go talk about Hayley.
[00:34:17] Well, I'll get a fallout boy released last year has like a half dozen on it.
[00:34:21] It's by its side.
[00:34:22] They're the fire right?
[00:34:23] The fire.
[00:34:24] That's them.
[00:34:25] Yes.
[00:34:26] Yeah, I'll light him up.
[00:34:27] Yeah.
[00:34:28] Good tune.
[00:34:29] Good tune.
[00:34:30] Yeah.
[00:34:31] Yeah.
[00:34:32] Yeah.
[00:34:33] Yeah.
[00:34:34] Yeah.
[00:34:35] Yeah.
[00:34:36] That's great.
[00:34:37] Great.
[00:34:38] Great.
[00:34:39] Great.
[00:34:40] I got to thank you.
[00:34:41] Paramore.
[00:34:42] What about now?
[00:34:43] What happened there?
[00:34:44] Thank you.
[00:34:45] Thank you.
[00:34:46] Ryan.
[00:34:47] How great is Paramore.
[00:34:48] Oh, well, Hayley Williams.
[00:34:49] I will say what a talent.
[00:34:50] Visory business.
[00:34:51] I was when they were playing it during this episode.
[00:34:52] I was like, I'm hard press.
[00:34:53] Take a better first single for any fan.
[00:34:55] Yeah.
[00:34:56] I'm not saying it's the greatest of all time.
[00:34:57] But I'm saying you won't find anyone who had a better single than
[00:35:00] Misery for single than business.
[00:35:02] It's great.
[00:35:03] Great song.
[00:35:04] Great band.
[00:35:05] Great moment.
[00:35:06] If you would have told me at the beginning of this season, hey, we're going to get not
[00:35:11] one but two Paramore songs this season.
[00:35:14] I would have said that season ever.
[00:35:16] So clearly like probably not the way to make bets.
[00:35:21] But boy, howdy, that song hits it slaps.
[00:35:25] And maybe is that did that song maybe cloud the way I saw this episode?
[00:35:29] No, this episode was awesome.
[00:35:31] Had nothing to do with that but it didn't hurt.
[00:35:34] Dan.
[00:35:35] Yeah, mine's also musical related.
[00:35:38] You named an episode lose yourself.
[00:35:41] I know.
[00:35:42] I know that we've not always played the song that the episode title is.
[00:35:47] But lose yourself is a generational track.
[00:35:50] Like it is more important than either Paramore's song in this in this
[00:35:54] episode or fallout boys song in this episode by a mile.
[00:35:58] You can't you just can't do this.
[00:36:00] You can't throw out that track and us not going to hint of it.
[00:36:04] Nothing.
[00:36:05] That's a big track.
[00:36:07] You can't last week before we'd seen the episode Aaron saw the the episode name
[00:36:12] and she was like, if they don't play lose yourself, if they don't play lose yourself.
[00:36:16] And I knew they weren't going to play it and somehow is still upset.
[00:36:20] So yeah, not all winners on this on the music front unfortunately.
[00:36:24] We tried to get Marshall for the pod.
[00:36:26] He had he had been going on.
[00:36:28] Yeah, last minute big fan though.
[00:36:30] Oh huge fan.
[00:36:31] Well, it's the show.
[00:36:32] Love the show.
[00:36:33] That's exactly right.
[00:36:34] He also thinks the way home is down this year.
[00:36:36] Oh, yeah, he's down out of this year.
[00:36:38] Is that why he didn't give him the song?
[00:36:39] That's probably he was like, no, you could have had it for free but now.
[00:36:42] What if Haley's a fan?
[00:36:43] Maybe that's the we get it.
[00:36:44] Did we get a two for one deal because Haley's a fan of the way home?
[00:36:47] I don't know.
[00:36:48] Let's get Haley on.
[00:36:49] Haley, come on.
[00:36:50] All right.
[00:36:51] A generational talent.
[00:36:52] Haley, you're exactly right about that.
[00:36:55] Let's take a quick break.
[00:36:56] We'll come back with the way what and the sink or swim here on.

[00:38:21] It's like when you start the third stand of a him and everybody else is waiting for that next measure.
[00:38:27] Yeah, you've been there.
[00:38:28] I have sure half.
[00:38:29] Yeah.
[00:38:30] Let's get to the weight what it's where we talk about what in this episode may just go weight what's Ryan.
[00:38:39] All right, thanks, Brad.
[00:38:40] Was there any reason given thank you, thank you, thank you, Hayley.
[00:38:43] Was any reason given as to why Alice and Noah are regretful of this kiss other than just that they're like they're both into each other.
[00:38:54] It's just too soon, you know, you know sometimes when you're into each other and then do this where you bring your briefcase out for every single weight what or complaint we're going to be here all day.
[00:39:03] I was saying, you know as somebody who has kissed a lot of women sometimes sometimes you fall into one and you're like hey like we clearly dig each other but it's too soon.
[00:39:13] It was too soon for that.
[00:39:14] So you fall into one.
[00:39:16] Yes, so does you fall into one thing you're like oh man, but if we make a mistake we haven't even had to define the relationship talk.
[00:39:21] We slid right into a kiss and so maybe it just felt like it was too soon and just to be clear I've never kissed it.
[00:39:26] You definitely have a full DTR before a first kiss.
[00:39:29] Oh, man.
[00:39:31] The show about Brandon youth group is going to be sick.
[00:39:34] Right.
[00:39:35] But so your point Ryan, it's a great weight what because they're them wanting to center on this one aspect of the story the way they write off these other aspects are just like what we can't do with this right now.
[00:39:46] Yeah, we got wait.
[00:39:47] No time.
[00:39:48] I gotta take Alice to school.
[00:39:49] The kiss didn't matter.
[00:39:51] Jacob is mad.
[00:39:52] Let's move to the thing we want to talk about.
[00:39:54] Yeah, I'm exactly what they did.
[00:39:56] I got a few more at what age and this is more of a show thing than a narrative thing at what age in the past do young cat and Elliott start to look like adult cat.
[00:40:07] And they're mid 20s here.
[00:40:09] Yeah, yeah.
[00:40:10] And like and they're not those those actors I don't think are in their mid 20s.
[00:40:14] They look like they're 19 or 21 years old somewhere in there.
[00:40:17] So I guess it was an interesting choice to make it to make it such a leap to 2007.
[00:40:23] And I mean, knowing who you have as the cast for the early 2000s and knowing like that's why why leap that far?
[00:40:32] Why leap that far into the future?
[00:40:34] That's a mistake.
[00:40:35] But also there's nothing they like the pond can take her back for like the pond could actually take her back to before like 2001 or 1995 right.
[00:40:45] Yes.
[00:40:46] If they wanted to have other stories with young Elliott and young cat, they could do that without moving forward in time theoretically.
[00:40:53] Well, to that point, sorry if this is what you're saying I'm just not understanding can can Alice now no longer go to 2002 through 2000 say she can still go there.
[00:41:01] I think she's okay.
[00:41:02] Yeah, we don't know for sure but I mean yeah, I know we don't know.
[00:41:07] She can keep showing up and just create copies of herself.
[00:41:10] She's show up no time she's already in.
[00:41:13] I don't think you like that too.
[00:41:14] So yes, she for sure could because there's there's a president here cat.
[00:41:20] There's presidents president president.
[00:41:23] I think at the time.
[00:41:24] I know we're going to go over Cleveland.
[00:41:26] I think at the time Bush so no yeah probably.
[00:41:30] Yes, so when back and cat was responsible obviously for the death of her dad she's gone back in time to there and also back in time to 1918.
[00:41:39] So she you can't you can.
[00:41:41] 1819 1819 1814 took a little trip.
[00:41:44] Yes, so you could so you could she Alice could yes go back for and watch it.
[00:41:50] Yes.
[00:41:51] Two more.
[00:41:52] There's president.
[00:41:53] There's.
[00:41:54] So I'm sure all of us had some variation of this ill advised last second trip to England but my big thing is forget that there's not going to be a flight to England.
[00:42:08] At this hour of night.
[00:42:10] No, no notice and that it wouldn't be booked from the middle of Canada.
[00:42:14] Right.
[00:42:15] From the middle of Canada but it's also at the earliest at the earliest it's already like 930 at night probably later he said he gives a 12 o'clock death.
[00:42:24] Like dude you're not going to have time to pack much less.
[00:42:27] Yes, the airport light it was just stupid and they're not again they're not 19 years old mid 20s.
[00:42:35] I thought it was a bad idea to like we've my apartment for any given stretch of time much less like you know go to England on a whim.
[00:42:42] You know, like so and then last one Nick writes down this address in Elliott's book and I get it.
[00:42:48] We got it was in it was electric it made brand take his wedding ring off.
[00:42:52] It was awesome right.
[00:42:54] But like lecture but like you know forget the fact that it's like all right where is you know but like he had he had his cell phone in his hand.
[00:43:04] He didn't need a pen.
[00:43:05] No, forget the fact that he probably could have just like if Dan told me right now I'm going to be on Elm Street I'd be like got it.
[00:43:11] Yes but like if you need to write it down you have you have a super computer in your hand huge weight what.
[00:43:18] Yeah, how complicated is the last time of location when's the last time you've been on a phone looking for a pen and paper.
[00:43:25] I'm sure it happens occasionally but for one like if not like she's like hey I need you to pick up 10 things from the store.
[00:43:34] She's like we're going to meet at at you know buck towns on on 26.
[00:43:39] I love buck towns all right you either know where buck towns on 26 is or you know buck towns on 26 and then you write and you know what if you forget you just texture that's how you do.
[00:43:51] Right 24 true that but also also if you need to write it down like you know this has happened with me and you to on the phone like all right one second I put the phone on speaker and now I can use the applications that let me write things down.
[00:44:03] You just get the notes app out you're good to go that's it or or our care bear can just text him the address and then we've cut out the middle man all of it anyway other than hey dig through someone else's house for a pen and paper.
[00:44:17] They are all yes these are all good up better options and ran love the show though I love it because they're tight yes we're back baby we're back are you dead that was it for me brand go get him let's talk about close listen.
[00:44:35] You you can't come back from the pond soaking wet in your jeans I'm not just again and starting at home that is 18 episodes in a row and just start sitting on couches hugging people you got it your first priority needs to be I need to get out of these wet clothes.
[00:44:55] There's no one else live this way am I the only one that doesn't want to just dwell in the wetness of clothes last last last week.
[00:45:04] I like being there thank you last week I defended your use of jeans this week I'm going to say the opposite which is had I found Jacob and talked to him and knew there's a way for my mother to see her child again.
[00:45:15] I would disregard my discomfort to tell her immediately well no 100% that's not my problem my problem is after that conversation okay she then goes as a converse you said first priority second priority fine second prior
[00:45:29] after that I gotta go change yes she then goes and has a conversation at Elliott sitting on the couch again was calling it yeah that was bad that was real bad listen this biggest takeaway in this episode is I'm just throw the
[00:45:41] Elliott still has a job up until this point and season two I wasn't sure what he was doing all day we see a lot of him leaning against his column of his front porch drinking coffee a lot of him
[00:45:52] just being at his house it's just good to know that he still teaching still has a job and that's exciting he does only happens occasionally occasionally yeah he does have a free period and that's great free period to go home and do whatever you want to it's fine
[00:46:05] listen I'm not here to I'm not a dance master despite what a lot of people have spread rumors about for me but you can't dance battle to muse I like you I like you's fine but it's not dance battle music it's just not yet should have put on some there's lots of other music from the mid 2000s that you could have danced too yeah
[00:46:30] a ton one to step one to step would be great there's even paramour songs I think could have fit the bill sure not muse I this is just a little thing and I don't know if anybody else cares about this but they had adult Elliott and cat at such a distance to where when he did decide to kiss there wasn't enough room between them to go into a full run so you just kind of does this little cute little shuffle
[00:46:56] thought it was a really funny way yeah it's very funny to me last but not least this is just you know in season one you know when we found out that Alice was going to be going back in time we talked about how you know kind of strange that like cat doesn't
[00:47:19] hasn't really put it together that her friend from teenage years is her daughter like you remember but maybe not you know your teenage you forget things
[00:47:29] and the my problem with going to 2007 is now cat is in her mid 20s and in your mid 20s like if you were to see a friend from child and you see that person that's now your
[00:47:42] re your I see you I see you now and there's not like a like you would remember right that cat that like hey I remember you you're my friend like you know what I'm saying well yes but didn't
[00:47:56] yes but then they do that thing at the beginning of the season where they said they had no more memory of me they're saying that Alice is changing things
[00:48:02] because they said that cat had no memories of her past 2002 so I think we're supposed to think that we're somewhat changing the timeline when she does this at least that's how I
[00:48:12] recall oh gosh if they're trying to know about that timeline we have all kinds of problems but do you guys remember that conversation from episode one or
[00:48:21] there several times do they say that I never saw Alice again that remember Elliott we find out he's saying that because he doesn't want her to travel
[00:48:31] his line and so he's saying you promised me you won't travel again and then she keeps doing it and he gets mad at her and then he's
[00:48:38] finally you know what you're going to be there anyway so I don't think it was a changing the timeline thing as much as it was can we try
[00:48:44] to stop her from going back and seeing that but sorry I don't think I made my point clear Ryan my point is at a certain point
[00:48:51] as you're lucky as Alice is getting older you're like hey oh my gosh my daughter looks a lot like my friend yes if it's a
[00:49:00] teenage friend I can maybe see you not putting that together but you saw her in your mid 20s I do think like at a certain
[00:49:06] point when Alice is getting old enough you would be like oh my gosh what if we're to believe these characters are not
[00:49:12] 40 yet adult cat is not 40 yet because they didn't graduate until after 2002 right I'm class of a one and I'm 40 okay so
[00:49:20] that means at 24 you would have seen someone and then your daughter becomes that person within the next 15 years yeah what
[00:49:27] you're saying is your memories I agree with you your memories lot you're not like you're going to be like something looks
[00:49:32] for me this looks really and then you're gonna it's gonna click especially somebody that you had a past relationship
[00:49:39] but so if like time it passed and then you see them in your mid 20s you're like oh my gosh like this person was a big
[00:49:44] part of my life right yeah totally I close back to what we were talking about last week with Nick where I think we kind
[00:49:49] of all swept this under the rug last season because we liked almost everything else and now when you actually
[00:49:54] think about it it was just it was very it wasn't very good yes yeah Dana um yeah so I just want to hammer this home one more
[00:50:01] time because I I can already hear people complaining and it is I understand that the pond takes you where you need
[00:50:09] to go and there is no guarantee that if Del were to jump in the pond she would go to 18 14 in fact
[00:50:15] based on all the evidence we have she would go somewhere else entirely cat goes somewhere Alice goes
[00:50:20] somewhere else Dell going to the same spot that out a cat is going to be unlikely however it is a complete
[00:50:28] miscarriage of these characters and their love for each other even when things are look bad to not have cat
[00:50:35] immediately go you need to know this right now you need to know this right this second there is nothing on
[00:50:41] the face of this earth more important than what I'm going to tell you right now and the the other side of
[00:50:47] that was bothersome and this is tangentially related is because Dell is so willing to sell the land we have
[00:50:55] to assume that she does not know about the pond at this point right we had like she is going to sell
[00:51:03] this land she was going to 17 years ago she's going to again there is no possible explanation for Dell's
[00:51:13] character other to do this twice other than Dell doesn't know about the pond would either of you disagree with
[00:51:20] that no I at this point I think it's inconceivable that Dell knows and if she did we have problems with
[00:51:27] on both sides but I lean towards no so really it's really sad it's a sad day because it I think that
[00:51:32] eliminates a lot of mythology a lot of fun you can have with the the general maybe it would be
[00:51:39] a thing where the generations of females of this line or could all try who knows or the generations of
[00:51:46] that family that aren't just landries because technically I guess Dell's not a laundry I hate it I hate
[00:51:51] that she doesn't know about the pond I was hopeful that she did it also makes her character seem really dumb
[00:51:57] yeah me it makes her seem really dumb and out of the loop now now that I know before this moment
[00:52:03] all of her scenes where it's not we're not sure she knows about the pond I can take and go maybe
[00:52:08] she knows and she's letting them figure that out for themselves and she has this sage wisdom and
[00:52:14] she's trying to play it down the middle now that I know she doesn't know it makes her character really
[00:52:19] really dumb it makes and it almost puts the bed the magic dirt yeah like if the dirt actually is
[00:52:25] real magic you don't sell that joint right yeah yeah yeah let's not rule that out completely
[00:52:30] I know I listen I'm holding onto that dirt until the very last moment but I know you are you're
[00:52:36] gonna bring it up I'm sure sync or swims you have to come um you said it before but Elliott does
[00:52:40] it in fact still work and he has a planning period where he can go home and start demolition
[00:52:45] renovation I just I don't even know where to start with that there were two one year in my teaching
[00:52:52] career where I had fourth and fifth planning back-to-back and I had lunch in between those two so
[00:52:57] that means I had about 130 minutes I had two hours and 10 minutes straight where I didn't have to
[00:53:06] be teaching anyone and I could my school let me you can go see a movie if you saw if you could
[00:53:11] if you if you plan to finish a really short movie you probably could get to it I don't think I
[00:53:16] ever did that but I did go places like I went I would go home I would do but knowing that they
[00:53:21] live in a much more rural community we go play yeah did we did we would go play we you and I did
[00:53:28] go put put during school one that's true we did we went to Frank's fun part and we did go
[00:53:33] put go play that is true that happens if it works it works there's all school hours we we're
[00:53:39] we're praying brin did you have two free periods in a lunch as well I do think one of my planning
[00:53:43] periods just kind of like that or some kids were on a field trip something happened where he had
[00:53:48] the same bright guy did and we did go play yes but I would go on like I would go like I would
[00:53:53] travel 20 30 minutes to go eat a meal somewhere like that I wouldn't be able to get to go to normally
[00:53:57] like I get that but this guy is this is a long trip because they say how early they have to leave
[00:54:02] in the morning constantly he's gonna go all the back from school and in his time what and I think
[00:54:06] he bikes and he thinks he bikes to school he's gonna start in on sledgehammer this or and I know
[00:54:12] Nick's the one saying that but he's like I'm gonna start making this it's a way it's just to be he
[00:54:16] just seems like that it's in Brandon it is clear that they did not start the true
[00:54:24] but even if he was just going home to make a ham sandwich he still has the bike back ham sandwich yeah
[00:54:31] two more one Monica a character we did not mention by name yet that is Nick's girlfriend in 2007
[00:54:39] and they start hanging out again in present day we find out the reason everyone knows about this
[00:54:44] party in oh seven is because of Facebook great that's really good writing makes sense at the time
[00:54:51] I can't think it was something with her notification settings and people find out about accident
[00:54:55] and because of that then Brody is that his name Brady Brady Brady Brady Brady
[00:55:03] finds out on Facebook and then makes his way up to Canada we find out in 2024 Monica just
[00:55:10] pipes up and says hey I want to let you know it was me it was me I'm sorry that I I shared your
[00:55:17] your thing your your invite with everybody of all the things in the episode that people are
[00:55:23] egregiously mad about that they can't fix this one the thing that really cats should be mad about
[00:55:30] like this one this changes the trajectory of her life forever literally if Monica doesn't share that
[00:55:38] that's Brady doesn't see it the house isn't a mess who knows maybe cat and Elliott fallen love
[00:55:46] literally this thing she's like oh no big deal I I ran my brain about it for years but water under
[00:55:53] the bridge she doesn't even there's no nothing I'm used dance battle can't nothing they just go
[00:55:58] right into dance battle of all the things to actually be mad at this is number one on the list
[00:56:03] and she doesn't care she doesn't care at all it's no big deal she briefly's like I can't believe
[00:56:08] it and then she's hovering couldn't believe it uh and lastly I hate to mention this because it is
[00:56:14] it is unfortunate if they had just done a little bit of simple math everything could have been fixed but
[00:56:20] in the year of our Lord 2024 uh
[00:56:24] Dell looks at Alice and says the party in 2007 is the reason your mom and I didn't speak for 17 years
[00:56:33] I'm sorry you have spoken over the last year so the number we're looking for is 616 that's the
[00:56:41] number we're looking for is you didn't speak for 16 years um Halloween of 07 to end of school year
[00:56:49] May of 2023 is about 15 and three quarters years that's how long that is it's not 17 years I know
[00:56:57] it's a throwaway line come on just a little bit just a little bit better just all we need is a
[00:57:03] little bit better right do you have thoughts there I was also the show might still be in 2023
[00:57:09] if you really think about it that makes it worse that makes it worse yeah that makes it even more
[00:57:13] 100% worse yeah and it might be no I don't think it can be because they did a full school year
[00:57:18] it had a full school year so it had to maybe start in 2022 the show is filmed in 2022
[00:57:24] yeah because it's only the fall now that's right so we got to the fall of 23 right now
[00:57:30] yeah it was 22 so that's even worse yeah that's even worse dialogue at that point
[00:57:35] that's that's now real bad so I'm sorry I'm sorry to bring it up it seems like we're kicking you
[00:57:39] while you're down but that's not good I do think regardless of what year it is it is a valid point
[00:57:45] like it's possible like I'm sure they've mentioned the actual year at some point but either way
[00:57:50] it can't be 17 years 17 plus 7s 24 I know that that is airtime unless we're in the future
[00:57:57] that's it unless the show takes place and well would it be 20 years the water is a globe yeah thank you
[00:58:04] by the way I appreciate that it's time for I think we're swimming oh swan talk about things
[00:58:10] what are sinking things that are swimming and everything in between Ryan take it away
[00:58:17] you get this better than anybody thank you I kept being surprised that Elliott was still into
[00:58:25] her when Nick tells her he came back for you and she's like what and then she's mad at him before
[00:58:29] they kiss the big ones and she's like what you you don't have a tell them like come on like cat
[00:58:34] like this dude's been like we've been like you know worship in the grand you walk on for like 20
[00:58:39] like what what surprised there is but then also like even before Nick comes out with the journal
[00:58:43] and the the address that is a paragraph long that he needed to write down like this is like can
[00:58:48] we just call it like this is a pretty toxic dynamic these two should just call it quits I don't
[00:58:52] even think they should be friends I just don't think it's a great agree Ellie and Kat should not
[00:58:56] have a relationship or be friends what do you think correct yeah yeah and I also think that
[00:59:03] it's fine if she know like if you want to be mad he never said anything like say your feelings
[00:59:08] like be a be a man and communicate I'm fine with that but to act like there's there's some some
[00:59:15] sort of like subtext and he really doesn't like her right what are you 10 like I you know like
[00:59:20] you know that that was weird to me totally good yeah so I just thought that was like it's time
[00:59:25] that you know what you know we we fought in front of the band rehearsing at the autumn fest
[00:59:30] where it's over it's over it's over yeah um I got two really quickly one I do think that this particular
[00:59:40] episode and what happened in 07 does put unless unless there's stuff that happened between 01 and
[00:59:48] 07 or whatever the last time I do think that this puts to death any potential
[00:59:56] Alice Elliott's relationship that I talked about earlier in the year remember the beach conversations
[01:00:02] I think that that ship has sailed yes maybe I miss reds so yes yeah it's possible I miss reds of
[01:00:10] anything but that's why we have this segment I I swam that and now I'm thinking I think that
[01:00:16] that guy was about to sink my other sink is is the fact that we spent five minutes and 18 14
[01:00:23] in this episode was great obviously had a blast not being there it does concern me that we now
[01:00:30] only have two episodes left in the season and I don't know if that's enough time to put that
[01:00:36] to bed you and I now can see 14 heavy episode coming up okay it's called episode nine all
[01:00:43] my only thing is is if I am praying to the good Lord that's when we get to season three we never
[01:00:52] were we never go back to to 18 14 and I'm concerned that with only spending five minutes there
[01:00:58] this episode that that may push that that may push them uh to do some 18 14 stuff in season three
[01:01:06] and that is a terrifying thoughts but it's all gonna depend on what happens in 9 and 10 but I'm
[01:01:11] just concerned that we didn't do enough in this episode to allow those the whatever is going to
[01:01:18] happen oh no with Jacob is it possible that that doesn't all gets resolved in this season I don't
[01:01:25] know I'm nervous that's all I'm gonna say about it. Brand even if it was the original plan I don't
[01:01:31] think there's any way watch that they watch the season back and say we need more 18 like I know
[01:01:36] listen I know about I'm just saying is all that's that was my only concern is we didn't spend
[01:01:41] enough time there this week you're only good to see it no other concern aside from that we're back
[01:01:46] baby I think the worst case scenario if it somehow was already baked in the season three that they
[01:01:52] would course correct in the season three premiere and we'd never be that I think I ask you guys
[01:01:55] this is if we if because what I do want to just remind people what happened here is is cat had a
[01:02:02] conversation with her brother for the first time in however many years yes immediately and I've
[01:02:08] got to get going got a got going and then she partied with her friends yeah instead of just going
[01:02:13] immediately back you love the episode I did I love the episode no notes but I yeah I just I'm
[01:02:23] concerned I'm concerned that it's just not like what if if she just never went back would anyone be
[01:02:29] mad like if we just never touched the Jacob take it again if she was I think it's pretty happy
[01:02:34] there I've been great would we I think I'd be fine I think I'd be five more conversation of Jacob
[01:02:39] saying like this is who I am now and I would be good I think that would be all how do you think it
[01:02:44] ends up though do you think okay I just do it do you think he's coming home yes he's gonna hug
[01:02:48] down yes Dell and Jacob will share an embrace no doubt about it how about this if they don't do
[01:02:54] that and then he didn't have an embrace with cat and we joined their first conversation mid conversation
[01:02:58] then this was just a total what if the embrace happens in 1814 what if cats finally tells Dell
[01:03:07] about time travel I love that we I can get you back there because like what if he can't do not
[01:03:12] I love so what if that's the way it had love I don't know I don't know if that salvages what we've
[01:03:16] had but at some point she has to tell down right but she has to tell you would think so and you
[01:03:22] would think that it would already have happened to this episode had a perfect opportunity for
[01:03:26] but nevertheless it has to happen and so I think the logical thing would be to hey I have found Jacob
[01:03:33] yes let me show you that's right we go to the pond we jump in and then the pond can take it from
[01:03:39] there yes but the the the opportunity for her to tell her is literally every second she's breathing
[01:03:44] of course of course yes I would love for that's just a better show than this but Dell going back
[01:03:51] and because you know Jacob has trauma of like I wonder what happened to mom like I left like
[01:03:56] you know kids don't think through you can tell kids over and over again that you love them no
[01:04:00] matter what it's unconditional but kids in their head think that they they have a standard to live
[01:04:05] up to even if you tell them otherwise there's something in Jacob psyche that's like I let my parents
[01:04:11] down there is something there and for her to get to go back on his terms and go you live your life
[01:04:16] you found the love of your love and that's great that would be a great ending oh my god
[01:04:21] let's do that unbelievable yeah um I am the next episode is called here without you so another
[01:04:27] chance to yeah yeah that I mean come on three doors down uh I'm looking forward to an episode in
[01:04:36] season three called bye bye bye where they don't play that song and to listen to uh man
[01:04:42] this show wants me more out than I already am I am swimming on one thing and it's a very
[01:04:47] hesitant swim because it's really more of like a like Sunday I don't swim to him to you
[01:04:51] talking paddle yeah um what could they possibly do of any importance with Nick finding this this
[01:05:00] time for general like I just I'm asking a series quick like remember all the fun theories we had
[01:05:07] about Jacob and the pond and the landries and you remember how we felt when we actually got answers
[01:05:16] mix back right what could they do with Nick what like I'm sure it's something but like realistically
[01:05:24] Nick's gonna do this gonna realize Alice is the same person and then he's is he gonna become villain
[01:05:31] is he gonna be able to jump in the pond like I don't know what are they gonna do there like I guess
[01:05:37] you know this show has made me think about lost a lot and I think the beauty of lost is while it
[01:05:42] does lose its way a little bit from time to time the theories we were coming up with
[01:05:48] or didn't even match how good the answers ended up being spoiler alert if you've not seen lost
[01:05:52] now's a chance to hit mute on your on your podcast app or on phylo you've not seen it
[01:05:59] I'm a big fan okay it's about to say like if you had told me in season one like John Locke
[01:06:06] is the smoke monster I'd have been like boom I'd have just been like what have you kidding me
[01:06:13] I went at that right like flash forwards are coming boom purgatory that you thought was
[01:06:19] at the beginning that's at the end if you had told me those things in season one I'm like better
[01:06:24] than my wildest imaginations that's what make loss makes lots of great show this season is doing
[01:06:29] the opposite for way home all of those fun things we had in our head or just we're just deflating
[01:06:35] every balloon we're just going around with with a pen just pop and balloons it's all we're doing
[01:06:41] and so Nick having the journal I don't know if I care what could they do how old is Alice
[01:06:48] in present day 17 or 18 depends on what a birthday we don't even know what year it is yeah
[01:06:54] we don't know this is the bad question I ask it for us I mean listen if if he finds out and he
[01:06:59] sits on that piece of information until he's 18 and then he's like now but now it's fair game
[01:07:04] like obviously really creepy really that for you to even say that what we want to call the police
[01:07:11] I don't even know how to like that is wolf what it's weird no matter what it is weird
[01:07:17] this is a weird thing yeah strange no matter what we were talking about stranger was it like she
[01:07:23] knows in her head hey I'm kissing somebody who back in my time is is a grown person and it didn't
[01:07:30] stop her so I I don't know how much they're going to play with that because it's weird it's
[01:07:35] it's gross but if it really was his first love the one that got away like with like I don't know
[01:07:44] what other point there is in him knowing aside from finally putting the connect in that connection
[01:07:50] that my first love is right here in front of me well to that exact point and Dan to emphasize what
[01:07:55] you just said it's just like once he got a call the cops on Elliott for time travel like you know
[01:08:01] it's like it's not like it's like a crime procedure all and it's like oh man we found out the big
[01:08:06] secret about the murder like you know it's like there's there's really nothing for him to do
[01:08:10] he's gonna tell the leader of the white witch tour like who cares well there's a you know
[01:08:15] NBC News show called timeless a few years ago where there's these like historians going back to
[01:08:20] make sure events happen and there's a bad guy who has a better time machine who's always like a
[01:08:24] step ahead of him and like or like it's literally like they did something similar in the flash but
[01:08:29] like if you make Nick this guy who's like I've got a retcon this whole thing so that Alice stays
[01:08:37] in 2002 with me because that was the love of my life yeah that's not a bad idea I don't think
[01:08:45] this show has that in the in the tank also because we've already established you can't change time
[01:08:51] that's the other problem is he can't be a villain because all he's gonna do is what should have
[01:08:56] happened anyway we're also know if all the offense to the character of Nick but like Elliott could
[01:09:01] be a villain because we've already established him as a mastermind right is like a subpar guitar player
[01:09:06] I like you know he's a mead yeah he's not he's you know he's trying to sledge hammer wall down
[01:09:10] we are like we are inching closer to Elliott and Nick working together this kidnapped laundry girls
[01:09:16] and like we're close we're getting close there guys all right that is the best version of
[01:09:21] this show though he from a standpoint of like season three kid that's the landers man they
[01:09:26] team up together to be villains they never get they like they they're literally currently bonding
[01:09:31] about like not getting the girl they walk that's their bonding thing right now I don't know we're
[01:09:36] getting close wow we went over an hour on a single episode of television this impressive that's
[01:09:41] impressive but we're back that's what we're back we're back we're back we're back we're back
[01:09:46] we're back two more episodes left everybody two more episodes left of season two very excited to see
