BRAN’S THE WAY HOME (SEASON 4 EPISODE 6) SYNOPSIS
Jacob is back out on horseback, just like the good old days. He goes to see his friend Danny and is like, “Sorry I was gone for a while, but I’m here now and ready to help.”
Meanwhile, Elliot is going full conspiracy mode, reading every article he can find. Kat keeps trying to get ahold of him to see if he’s coming to dinner, but he’s too busy printing copies of important archives.
He eventually shows up, completely zonked, and leaves pretty quickly. Things are still awkward between Jacob and Del, and Kat encourages him to talk to her. Then Jacob randomly brings up those threatening letters that I had completely forgotten about.
Kat talks with Del about her loss back in 1979, and they have a really sweet heart-to-heart. Later, Del goes outside to talk to her horse…and the horse starts acting weird. Makes you wonder.
Jacob meets Max, but the conversation gets cut short when he sees the mysterious girl from the bar walking past the window. He follows her to the park, where she introduces herself as Abby. Turns out both of their families are from the area. They head back together, and that’s when Jacob realizes Abby is Max’s sister. She finds out he’s Jacob Landry, and when he learns she’s Abby Goodwin, she’s basically like, “Okay…I’m outta here.”
Kat goes to check on Elliot, and he suddenly kisses her BIG TIME. She also spots the copied archives, but Elliot gets weird and makes up excuses about why he has them.
He suspects his mom may have been a fortune teller back in the 1920s, and Kat remembers hearing stories about one. They find a flyer advertising an upcoming fortune-telling event that hasn’t happened yet, so naturally they decide they’re jumping back together.
Max surprises Alice with a plaque on “their table,” but yeah, they’re totally just friends.
Del tries talking to the horse again, but this time it charges at her. Jacob offers to help, but Del snaps that she’ll just get attached and then he’ll leave again. Starting to think she’s not really talking about the horse anymore.
Kat and Elliot make it to the carnival in the past. The pond is ponding.
Alice runs into KC again. She’s like, “Why are you here?” KC responds, “I don’t know. Pond be ponding.” Alice immediately asks, “Am I your mom? Do I marry Max?” KC refuses to answer directly but says, “Good questions. Follow your gut and you’ll have no regrets.”
Kat and Elliot search through carnival tents looking for Elliot’s mom. Kat spots the Auggie boys and Elliot follows them while Kat chases after someone she thinks might be Tessa. Naturally, they lose each other. The Auggie boys end up capturing Elliot.
Luckily, Elliot manages to beat them up himself, but then Cliff shows up and arrests the boys. Kat and Elliot reunite and run into Fern, who urgently tells them to leave. Then they discover Cliff let the Auggie boys go free because, apparently, money talks.
Back in the present, Del keeps working with the horse, and it finally starts trusting her again while Jacob watches from a distance.
Kat and Elliot finally locate the fortune teller’s tent. A huge crowd gathers, including basically everyone they know from the 1920s storyline. The fortune teller walks onstage and…I still honestly don’t know if it’s Elliot’s mom. She calls Kat onstage and reads her palm, telling her she’s a time traveler and that she’s there to rescue her. Then “Tessa” asks Kat to meet her backstage.
But before they can actually talk, the Auggie boys kidnap her. Kat realizes they’re probably taking her to the shipping docks.
Jacob also runs into KC, who refuses to explain much about who they really are besides saying their name is “just a name.” Then Abby shows up, and Jacob is basically like, “I think fate brought us together.”
Kat and Elliot track the Auggie boys to the docks and see them loading Tessa onto a ship while saying, “Capone is gonna love this.”
Alice tells Max she doesn’t want to leave, and he completely freaks out on her.
Jacob finally tells Del that he’s staying.
And then, at the very end, Kat rushes in to stop the Auggie boys…only to discover that Tessa is actually the ringleader. Elliot runs up yelling, “Mom!” and Tessa immediately makes sure he gets knocked out.

[00:01:27] No, not yet Okay Not yet And I thought about bringing it up a few times But Hey, my kids had their birthday party Yeah, I was gonna say, what's the update? Yeah And they got the money They got it They literally Is it in your house to Switch? Didn't the game just come out, the Lego Batman game? Lego Batman's not out for Switch yet Oh, okay Legolas Batman though It's out on every console aside from Switch It's the same thing with the James Bond game It's out everywhere but Switch And also
[00:01:56] So like They got the Switch too Because a bunch of the kids in their class Parents texted my wife What do they want? And my wife was like Well, they're saving for a Switch too And so like half the kids got them this You know, got a money And they had enough That's really sweet Yeah So we did not give them money We gave them a board game The gym Well Dude To combat No, no, no To combat the screen addiction of children You get it Not only did you give them a board game, Brandon You gave them Jumanji the board game Yes
[00:02:25] Which one of my children is still terrified to play And it's hysterical Because he's seen the movie and he's like I don't know He keeps walking away And I knew that was the risk when I got it And it's so perfect I remember you saying that they watched it They loved it Like he's like He's so in And then the other one's like Backing away from the table Grand vintage Jumanji Like the board looks old school Yes Yeah, yeah Great gift It's new but looks old I got you I got you Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Anyway, we got the Switch too, Ryguy And so we got
[00:02:54] You know, we got a few games to play They got like 2K And Mario Kart And the new Donkey Kong But you went all out That's not a deal I mean Well, can I tell you why I ended up going all out? Is because Is because The And we don't have time for this But so I told them I would match them dollar for dollar, right? Yes And so An angel An angel No, they hit it about right And then they got $50 in Target gift cards So I bought So those are games right there I saw Mario I bought Mario Kart with a Target one And then I
[00:03:23] I took about 8 to 10 games that they had They never play anymore I'm talking haven't played in years And I took the Switch And the Joy-Cons Because we have aftermarket controllers And the games to GameStop It's gotta be at least $120, right? It was $250 in credits Oh, great So I got $100 just for the Switch And then the games were like Like Paper Mario $20 That's like much Much more than I thought Yeah, so like I was I was kind of beholden to my rule I was like I gotta spend this money
[00:03:53] I can't like And so I went and picked a few more games out for them I've heard DK Bonanza's incredible So we got it out to play And it started And it doesn't get to co-op Until like an hour in Oh really? That seems silly It's so stupid But the graphics were That's DK for you though So they were like Very frustrated by that And so we haven't really gotten into DK Like we have the other ones But the new Mario Kart Mario Kart will hold them over Until whenever Lego Batman comes out Dude, the new Mario Kart Well, they're excited about Star Fox
[00:04:22] So we'll have that Oh, I can't That's why I want it We'll have it We'll have it in June We'll have Star Fox I'll be coming over Come on man, let's go Yeah You tell the kids to get outside That's right Go play Rye guys Rye guys come over to play Star Fox Ooh Yeah All right, shall we talk about The Way Home? Let's do it Way Home Season 4 Episode 6 It's called Don't Cry Out Loud Don't Cry Out Loud Cry to yourself Cry internally Yeah Don't cry out loud
[00:04:49] May 24th, 2026 is when it's premiered And it went a little something like this Jacob is out there on horseback Just like the good old days He goes to see his friend Danny And is like Sorry I was gone for a while But I'm here now And I'm ready to be helpful And Danny's like Alright, whatever dude Okay Elliot is going nuts Reading all these articles he can find Whatever you think I mean when I say going nuts
[00:05:20] Times 10 Take it up and on Uh Uh Cat is trying to get a hold of him about whether or not he's coming to dinner But he's busy printing copies of important copies of articles Uh, he shows up but he is zonked and leaves pretty quickly Things are pretty weird between Jacob and Del And uh, Cat encourages him to chat And then he randomly brings up Uh, those letters that she was getting Those like cryptic letters
[00:05:49] That I had completely forgotten about Oh those letters, yeah, no of course So I guess they're coming back Uh, Cat talked to Del about her loss in 1979 And have a good heart to heart Then she goes out to uh, talk to her horse And the horse started getting weird And it makes you wonder Dude, I gotta be honest It's more than wonder We're gonna talk about it a lot Okay Uh My only takeaway really from the episode Dude, holy cow And just to be clear when I say Cat
[00:06:20] Uh, uh I'm sorry, Alice talked to Del about her loss in 1979 They talk about in the present The losses in 1979 I felt like that was a little confusing when I said that Uh, Jacob Thank you But then stops the convo short When he sees that girl from the bar in Toronto Walking past a window What are the odds? Uh That was like a Drake lyric, Bran That was sick Uh, he follows her to the park And she says that her name is Ab I'm Abbey Right
[00:06:48] Turns out both their families are from here They head back And it turns out that Abbey is Max's sister It's fine Um, that's when she finds out that he's Jacob Landry And that she's Abbey Goodwin Ugh She's like, okay I'm out of here We can't be together Um, cause in case you forgot Uh, Jacob tried to burn down the Landry farm I don't know if you guys remember that They wanted us to forget that Uh, so Cat goes to check out Check on Elliot
[00:07:18] And he kisses her big time She then finds the copies Uh, some of the copies of the archives That he's working on He's weird And makes up excuses for why he has them Uh, he suspects that his mom was a fortune teller From the 20's And she remembers hearing about one Uh, and even There's even a flyer About a fortune teller That's gonna be at this circus That hasn't happened yet In the timeline of Cat going back to there So, uh, they decide they're gonna jump together Max surprises Alice
[00:07:47] Uh, with the We're gonna go like on a scavenger hunt There's like a plaque on their table But they're totally just It's the last day Scavenger hunt But they're just friends Uh, Del, uh, tries to talk to the horse again Uh, the horse just charges at her Makes you wonder Uh, Jacob is like, let me help Uh, and she's like The horse is just gonna get attached to you And then you're gonna leave again
[00:08:15] And then at this point I'm beginning to think That maybe She's not talking about the horse Hmm Maybe Hmm Just talking about herself Hmm Uh, Del tries to talk to Oh, sorry, I just read that Uh, Cat and Elliot make it to the carnival The pond is good The pond is good Pond is good Pond is good Pond is good Shout out pond Uh, Alice sees KC KC KC, are you with me? Oh, you with me
[00:08:44] Uh, Alice is like, why are you here? KC is like, I don't know Pond be ponding Uh, Alice is like, am I your mom? Do I marry Max? KC is like, I can't answer But, good questions Follow your guts And you'll have no regrets Okay, whatever that means Uh, Cat and Elliot start looking intense Looking for his mom And then sees the Augie boys
[00:09:14] He goes to follow them While she runs after someone that she thinks might be Tessa It's not Uh, but then they can't find each other The Augie boys capture Elliot Elliot ends up just beating them up But then Cliff arrest the Augie boys Elliot and Cat find each other And then they see Fern They go and they talk to Fern She's like, you gotta leave And then we find out that Cliff let the Augie boys free Why? Because money talks See? See? See? See?
[00:09:42] You better learn that lesson Uh, Del is back at it with the horse And it's happening, folks The horse is beginning to trust her again As Jacob watches on Cat and Elliot find the tent where the fortune teller is going to be A crowd begins to file in And including literally everyone that we know from the 1920s is there The fortune teller shows up And I don't know if it's Elliot's mom Uh, cause I don't know what she looks like at this point in time But I think it is
[00:10:12] Uh, she calls Cat on stage to read her palm She tells her that she is a, uh, cat Says, I am a time traveler I'm here to rescue you And Tessa's like, let's meet backstage But before they could find her Uh, the Augie boys captured her Cat suspects that they're gonna be taking her down Where they get shipments for the liquor Jacob Also talks to Casey
[00:10:37] Uh, who doesn't tell him much of anything about who they are Aside from the quote basically being like What is a name? You know? I might be Casey, I might be Casey Goodwin But what is a name? Um, suddenly Abby shows up And Jacob is like You know what? What is a name? What if we got together? This is fate that we've come across each other
[00:11:06] And we shouldn't let our names Our last names keep us apart I think we can work together Cat and Elliot see the Augie boys putting Tessa on a ship And then we hear one of them say Capone is going to love this Uh, Alice I rewound it I was like, did they say Capone? Alice, uh, is Uh, tells Max that she is going to not go to college
[00:11:35] She's gonna stay here He freaks out on her and calls her a lame townie basically Uh, Jacob tells Del that he is going to stay And finally, Cat goes to stop the Augie boys From putting Tessa on the ship But it turns out Tessa's the ringleader? What? Elliot runs up and is like Mom! But then she's like, alright, knock this annoying kid out please And that my friends was The Way Home Season 4 Episode 6 Don't cry out loud
[00:12:06] We... Did it We did do it, let's take a break We'll come back, we'll break this episode down here on Deck the Hallmark Hello everybody, welcome back We're talking about The Way Home Season 4 Episode 6 Don't cry out loud Don't do it But, do... Give your hot takes out loud That's what we're gonna do right now
[00:12:35] And I'm gonna start with you, Ryguy Ryguy, what'd you think about this episode? Lots, lots happening Sure, yeah I mean, there's no universe where this was a good episode Well, no Like, and you know, there's a myriad of things, right? Like the happenstance of... Jacob, what's her name? Abby Her name's Abby Abby Two meat cutes in two vastly different parts of Canada That's right It's a small place that Canada
[00:13:04] Happened just... And again, these were... Unless the pond is possible... I mean, these are... A lot of what I'm about to say could have all been Weight Watch, but it's important to say them here Unless the pond is orchestrating it It really is such a reach Max and Alice have to tell us about all these important moments in their relationship Oh my God! We've never seen any of them No KC KC doesn't just return out of nowhere But then, again, should have been my prime weight what?
[00:13:33] But there's a reason for all of this Alice goes You know, I'm over the whole are you my mom thing Yeah, this is... Without clarity on that You would just be over, right? Yeah, you just wouldn't think about it anymore Dan Janot shows up just in the nick of time At every big pivotal moment Yeah, man It's very lazy writing Jacob has only met this woman three times But is already doing the Romeo and Juliet thing And no world was this a good episode
[00:14:02] And all of those could have been prime weight what? But none of it matters If Colton is whore You said it None of it None of it matters if Colton is whore I'm so glad this didn't get to me I'm so glad we're all on the same page here Because they... They have nothing else And we have said this throughout the four years But if nothing else They are... If nothing else They were like those three bozos Have said so many quasi
[00:14:31] To just flat out negative things We're at least gonna have them think Colton is whore Because there's no... Either Colton is whore Or they're bleeping with us That's right Because... Yeah That's right Because you just don't do this The only other scenario Which, listen, might be a reality Is that there's just a useless plot About Del on a horse Dude, if that horse isn't Colton Or the embodiment of someone But think about it Like if the horse is Colton It doesn't... Like Colton wants to make sure
[00:15:01] That she doesn't get near the pond again Like don't go... It helps nobody to... Like he can control this Because he's whore You're being so great about this, Bram I wanna be very clear They have laid no groundwork For Colton to be whore But this guy said his Colton horse Three years ago And I swear to God I think they're making Colton horse I think they're doing it And they've not... They've not done the groundwork They've not laid the pipe down But they're doing it now
[00:15:30] I disagree And it is hysterical To be there... I think the writing's been on the wall this entire time I mean, there are these little idiosyncrasies That actually have me starting to think That Colton could be whores Granted, if I didn't host this podcast Would I think Colton was whores? Like if I was on Girls Gone Hallmark I don't know what they think They probably don't think Colton is whores over there, right? But I do Listen... Well, they might be because they're very smart There's a good chance that people now Might have an inkling that Colton is whores
[00:15:59] We've been on that train for three years This guy was the first to bring it up I'm telling you right now They might have done this just because why not? They might have done it Because I'm sorry, that is not a three year twist We were talking about this when the horse didn't matter at all And all of a sudden in this episode Colton is so very clearly whores Yeah, Bran, you were in on Colton It's crazy Bran, you were in on Colton's horse When people were still trying to figure out where the dog was in time That's right
[00:16:30] That's right You were wearing a horse hat Listen... I watched this show like Elliot Rea's newspapers I just... I see things in a different way I read things in a different style Like I just... If Colton is horse, it does not make this a good television show It makes it one of my favorite TV watching experiences of all time Of all time And I will say, listen, as we talked about last week, very sadly
[00:16:57] They probably right around now in terms of writing and filming the show Had to pivot And maybe they just said, screw it We got three weeks left Sitting in the writers room Drowning their sorrows going F it Colton's horse So like Bran, to clarify, I'll kick it to you An unequivocally bad episode Terrible episode But the... And nothing makes sense Like none of that stuff By the way, nor does Colton's horse No, no, no, no, no, no
[00:17:27] Again, I disagree, but... Okay It's the only thing that makes sense In my whole life No, I liked the episode I... I had a good time overall I am... Like, I'm... Maybe I'm dumb I did see Colton is horse coming But I never really put together that Tessa could be the ringleader of... Because it doesn't make sense Why not? Could be the ringleader of Al Capone's Canada sector
[00:17:55] She's working for Al Capone to smuggle Already smuggled liquor to Chicago Yeah, why not? In the year that he took over Sure You would really have to do a lot of legwork to get there But if you're from the future, then you would know that But if you're from the future of all the things you could do to make money That's a really dumb dangerous one Yeah, but she's... It's a really stupid way to make a fortune Yeah, something that somebody who leaves a baby by a pond would do No
[00:18:24] You're reckless, you're a little crazy No, no I'm gonna leave my baby by a body of water I'm always looking for a risk They're just throwing... They're just throwing darts at a board blindly That's all they're doing It's not earned It wasn't earned at all It was a surprise though It worked for me I'm at least intrigued by it Great to see KC again KC comes in here and out acts the room KC's fantastic
[00:18:53] And I will just say this No, you don't think so? No, I don't Oh, okay I think KC is a talented actor I think KC was better in the prior season I think what they're having to do here is I think the writing on KC is really losing his money It's like how they've lost the plot on Dell They never had the plot on Dell They don't have the right for Andy McDowell either I thought KC was much more mysterious and much better in a prior season Well, let's see what happens
[00:19:21] But I will also say while the Jacob-Abby storyline isn't working for me I'm at least not... I didn't hate his scenes Oh, wow I actually... Wowzers! And I was as insufferable as I thought Jacob's ever been Dude, you're on a roll right now That's good TV That's good pod That's my thoughts, Dana? Yeah, so we talked about this with Alonzo
[00:19:50] Alonzo said this first But it's like you sit down for a meal and you're like Wow, this food is bad And there's so much of it This episode is so incredibly stuffed to the gills with plot And the majority of it is so bad Guys, and you did coincidentally leave this out of your raves here What did I leave? The Alice and Max stuff is real bad It was all... None of it's show It's all tell
[00:20:20] Like, the Alice-Max romance or whatever it is Is possibly the most forced, least worked on storyline Of a TV show that's supposed to be serialized that I've ever seen Except, sorry, other than Alice and the other guy Yeah, bad too But at least we saw them meet and have conversations Yes Yeah, all of this has happened off-screen And now they're telling us about it The last day scavenger hunt So incredibly unearned
[00:20:48] That is eight minutes of my life I just will never get back The rest of this is more in the like Unfortunate category and less in the Completely bewildered category Like, the reveal of Tess being very integral to the 1920s Because she's working as a part of the Capone Like, whiskey ring was tough I'd say it was tough to say the least The, the Jacob stuff
[00:21:16] Where he happens to meet Abby again Real tough The KC stuff I'll get into my weight what But suffice it to say Let's assume we don't know what happens in episode seven If we could for a moment Because we don't, we've not seen it yet How KC is acting Makes zero sense Knowing what we know about how time travel works in this show
[00:21:41] Where you 100% are allowed to tell people what happens in the future Every other character's doing it Literally Contessa has made a career of it You can do it She's like, you can tell people what happens in the future That is an established thing And KC just being weird and mysterious for no reason Is so bad to me Can you give me some examples of
[00:22:13] People from the, the, the future Well, it is very clear at this point That Sam knows things In last season Sam has a, the Helps Del save her farm In a method that only requires some foreknowledge of the future He also is so incredibly chill about this dude Julian who is MIA taken to the house this week Julian I don't think we'll see him again He's, I don't think we will either
[00:22:43] He's like a save by the bell B character He's gone Sam so incredibly knows Things that have not happened yet So incredibly clearly That someone has told him something Right? Now if we find that out maybe next episode Yeah, that's neither here nor there But, but Also, Tess has clearly utilized the future By telling others what happens She's like, Fern knows stuff that happens in the future
[00:23:09] Also, there are several times where Alice and Kat talk Like, at one point in the, in the past I'm getting, I may be getting two stories right Let me correct that It is allowed This is a thing that you're allowed to do I think you're allowed, I just don't think it's encouraged But you're allowed to do it In fact, I'm pretty sure in the 1800s Right, but I don't think, I don't think What did Casey say? Casey refuses to Well, Casey's doing the inverse
[00:23:37] Casey's doing what most people should do No, Casey's doing the worst possible scenario Which is, I'd go with your gut You either go It's like a parent talking to the kid about a Christmas present It's looking good It's the worst possible Either Casey, you go, Alice, you know this I'm not getting into that Or you go, let me tell you Here are the things that you need to be confident in She's, they are doing the worst possible combo Which is, I can tell you I'm not gonna But go with your gut
[00:24:07] It's awful It's so bad It is a stretch to the finish line situation And I hate it Dan Janot is a wonderful actor They are just like Where do we need him? It's real bad and there's a lot of it to go around Also, Del's downright mean to Jacob in this episode Downright mean to him I would leave if I was him That's another one of my weight watts Like, Jacob's not a bad guy No! To go live in Toronto I mean, Del is acerbic
[00:24:36] Like, she is like, just like, coming in hot With just like, haymakers For no reason at all There's a lot that's going on here None of it particularly good Unless Colton is horse In which I stand corrected about the entire program From start to finish It would be huge for us here Here at Deck the Homework we have a lot of fun If Colton is horse This is a win that we did not deserve But we do desperately need It would be the Dark Knight of Wins A life changer, really Yeah, that's right Let's get to all the feels Anything in this episode give you feels, Ryguy?
[00:25:05] Actually, quite the opposite, Bran In the sense that You know what's never made me feel anything Is Landry versus Goodwin Never! And I was just thinking about this And I really don't want to go on another soapbox About the perils of the show Since season two But it's yet another big distinguishing factor Between season one and the rest of the series You know what was not in season one at all Was Landry versus Goodwin
[00:25:33] And somewhere in the season two writers summit They said, let's craft Landry versus Goodwin And it's just another example of like What's really, really halted the show's success for me And now we have two Landry and Goodwin romances I don't care I don't like it I don't want it I don't need it I can't win with them The bears are who we thought they were We let them off the hook
[00:26:03] You know what? Tessa telling one of her goons to knock her son out That's real villain work That is next level villain work And we don't get that a lot We don't get that a lot on Hallmark We don't get a real villain That is villain work right there I will wager you something You want to wager a hat at lids? Double or nothing I'll wager you, whatever Not whatever
[00:26:29] I'll wager you something that she did that because it was to keep her son safe I'll wager that it wasn't to be a villain I'll wager she did it Maybe To keep her son safe And she really, there's an unconditional love at play that we don't know about I'm sure you're right Which would be really bad if so Because although not the exact equivalent What's her face put Kat in jail a couple weeks ago to keep her safe Terrible You know how to not keep someone safe though? Put a baby by a pond Yep, maybe she did that to keep him safe too
[00:26:57] At least he was in some sort of container It was a Moses situation But it's on a hill I mean Moses' mom kept him safe that way You saying Moses' mom wasn't a good mom? I'm not saying she's not a good mom You're saying that Moses' mom Now I heard it He's saying Moses' mom was not a good mom You hear that? You hear that ghost of Moses' mom? Yeah You hear that? Think there's other ways we could have got about it
[00:27:25] You're telling Moses' mom how to do her job The story from the Bible Yeah Where God ordained Moses to lead his people out of bondage from Egypt 100% You've changed man Dude, you are Dude, this is Two things can be true You hate Moses' mom Two things can be true This is unbelievable Moses did great work Right? You're saying his mom wasn't called by God to do what she did? Possibly I just think, you know
[00:27:56] You're in your Baby basket Upstreet Like The only way I'm standing by it Like Just Walk it down Moses' mom Brand's not a fan It's unbelievable Just walk it down Lazy really Get caught if you walk it down The lazy river That's what they call it Dan? Yeah, I mean I don't I think
[00:28:24] My frustration is starting to build With the fact that we have Four episodes left And our big things are Now we're supposed to care about Elliot's mom And now she's a villain Which she's not going to be a villain Landry The Landry What's it called? Stuff doesn't I don't care about that stuff at all The Alice stuff I don't care about All of my hopes are now hanging on Colton's horse And that's a terrible That's a terrible hook to hang all your hopes on
[00:28:54] Can I say this? Nay nay to you, my friend Nay nay to you Nay nay to you Yeah Watch me whip Watch me nay nay That's right Alright, I'm going to take a break We're going to come back and get to the weight one of the what the home mark Here on Take the home mark Sink or swim Come on, man It's important Hi everybody, welcome back We're talking about The way home Season 4 Episode 6 Let's get to the weight one We're talking about what in this I don't
[00:29:23] I know we don't Typically In our merchandise that we sell brand I know I just cut you off completely But this is important We don't put the faces Or likenesses of actors on our merch That's just not how we do business Here Or names But if Colton is horse We have to have a shirt That's a horse But with the face of that dude That plays Colton, right? Yeah I mean at the very least He likes our work that guy Yeah It'll be fine At the very least The idea of a shirt that just says Colton is horse on it Yeah Is fun
[00:29:53] Yeah But I love the idea of a horse with the head of the actor 100% Yeah 100% Just stew on that, Brent I'll stew on it Rye Guy Yeah, you'd think I'd be fresh out Considering I've already done six or seven throughout the episode But I have a few more There's no way that all of that stuff could have fit into Kat's car To take Alice to college Unless she has like a military grade Hummer It was like Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah I think that's a PC Richardson son
[00:30:22] Was in the room Like I didn't get it Isn't it PC Richardson? You said PC Is it PC Richards and son? Oh, it's PC Richards and son Okay, we don't have those down here Oh, really? Yeah, I know the store though I thought it was PC Richardson They've been around for over 100 years I wonder what they like What were they selling over 100? Like candlelight? What were they doing? Yeah, 100 years ago? I mean 1926? You get some early radios maybe? I guess that's a fair point Yeah
[00:30:50] The one of the good ones, Max, right? Yeah He says a scavenger hunt is a great way to say goodbye Before our lives change forever The dumbest thing I've ever heard No, you know what? Let's Dude, don't you dare Let's just try Last day scavenger hunt The Bramble Fest Saturday afternoon morning We pop out of bed And we do a last day scavenger hunt Oh no, I think I have an early Sunday flight You do have an early Sunday Very early It may be Saturday night After Saturday night After we shut down karaoke And we go and do a last day scavenger hunt Yes
[00:31:19] And then our lives will change Last one for me Really one of my favorite moments in the history of the show Cap, who famously works at the paper in the archives Finds an 100 year old newspaper and says quote Is this from the archives? No, it's from the corner store It's from PC Richardson, son PC Richardson, your boy That's it for me, Bran Not a good episode Going
[00:31:48] It's so bad and there's so much Going back to the newspaper I cannot stress enough how insane the sequence is of Elliot going through the newspapers It's insane It's one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time Yeah He's literally reading a chunk from this column to a chunk from this column Trying to make sense of it all This is like It's Howard Hughes level This is like Yes, this is like Just wild Go back and watch
[00:32:18] It's very funny I laughed a lot And then again Let me Let me punch in An espresso martini is a lovely drink I don't You really are offended by this I don't need this slander Like Jacob Just try one Just try an espresso martini What's more What's more old school than espresso? Okay So many things But I Then espresso?
[00:32:47] Espresso martini I'm just hearing what I'm saying I'm not disagreeing Then espresso I'm not disagreeing that the drink is fine and it is a legit drink But you would admit if you ran a whiskey bar Like It would be like going to CeCe's Pizza and being like Where are the vegan options? Like that is like what it would be like All I'm saying The espresso martini is a very classy drink It is She wants you to try it Just try it He should try it For sure He should try it He says I don't know
[00:33:16] He should be like Isn't that me? I guess so Yeah I just I just Don't appreciate it And I want him to try one That's By the end of the season We don't get a scene of him trying an espresso martini and be like All right, you were right this whole time That's the finale with Colton his horse That's right Colton's got his hooves He's got a burnt a martini He's got a pretty great finale He's pouring an espresso martini into the mouth Dude, when we find out Colton can still talk in English in a human voice Oh my goodness
[00:33:45] In the last episode When he was just like I was there the whole time, Deli And he says that Then they roll credits I mean, come on Very good Gallops off Dan? Yeah, so That was your only one brand? I had two He had two, he had two Don't worry Oh, okay Cat is at the door Elliot is looking at his old newspaper clippings on the couch as you do Cat knocks at the door And he decides I'm gonna hide these behind a couch cushion Now, I wanna be very clear In the shot that we see him in
[00:34:13] There are no less than five cabinets or drawers In the, like, five different open, closed She's not gonna look in there at this visit Places to hide it She's outside You have the newspaper clippings You don't want her to see them You can go to any of these locations Open the cabinet Slide them in Close the cabinet He jams them Behind the spot Where she's definitely going to sit on the couch And then she's like Are these from the archive? So just a winning scene
[00:34:42] All the way around there Uh, Dale goes out to talk to the horse As we know Colton, obviously Yeah And the horse almost runs her over Yes She falls to the ground Yeah Uh, it's very dangerous I don't know if she falls to the ground, but yeah Jacob is watching from the window Does nothing, says nothing Doesn't run to her Watches it all happen And then she comes in and he's like In his defense, he's never been to a New York City subway He doesn't know the rules He See something, say something
[00:35:11] See, but she walks in and he says I saw what happened out there, mom You gotta be careful Buddy Like that You may have, should have gone out there But maybe you shouldn't have Because your mom's being a real meanie to you Uh, so maybe that's the problem Um, listen A real meanie A real meanie Some people push back that in Canada Prohibition agents could arrest people For public intoxication Oh, I never even thought about that Which, that is a fun fact That I did not know I will say they still would not have just Selectively gone in and let all the other people
[00:35:41] Drinking slide and just arrested Kat multiple times That still doesn't make any sense That's Canada But I can also tell you that the prohibition agent in Canada Certainly would not have arrested someone just for fighting So in this episode Dan Janot takes another step Which is you guys are fighting It's off to the slammer with you And then it turns out they paid money And he's like there's nothing I can do money talks Which is such a weird, like It was a weird That was weird Yeah I'm a prohibition agent licensed by the province of Canada
[00:36:10] To arrest people about alcohol You punch that guy Come on to jail Oh, you have money Well, I have to let you go And we're supposed to just let all of that slide For some reason I thought that they were getting arrested Because like he's wanted them for a while for smuggling And he had no proof though He got them No, because doesn't he say Well, now I've got to take you in Right? Doesn't he say that? Whatever And then money talks So it's like what were you doing here in the first place? Money talks, Fran Time is money Yeah
[00:36:40] Everybody talks Everybody talks And lastly This Started with a whisper Go ahead Sorry Neon trees Been too long Hasn't Maybe not They Danganot comes into the screen And Elliot's He makes a reference that Elliot is wearing his clothes Mm-hmm So in the previous episode, Nick This is a runner Yeah Nick steals Danganot's clothes Yes Now that barely made sense
[00:37:09] But they were in his house And he had modern clothes on When and why did Elliot steal Danganot's clothes? Like he They went straight They came out of the pond And went straight to the carnival Like they didn't go to his house Why those Why did he steal What is going on here? Did uh Did Nick Nick put his clothes in a Ziploc bag And he brought them Well I was gonna say Like he Cause Nick does jump Back in those clothes
[00:37:39] In the clothes But is it the same outfit? What was So for the first time What was Elliot wearing when he jumped in? Was he wearing those clothes Or was he wearing his clothes? So for the first time I remember clocking He wasn't wearing jeans But what you're saying is Is for the first time ever In four years of this show This makes this worse by the way They thought it through They thought it through For the first time ever It's worse if they don't go to his house And steal the clothes Because that means for the first time ever They cracked the system And went We should dress For the time that we're going to
[00:38:09] And maybe not denim They did that in episode six Of their last season So there's that That's all I got Brick Let's get to the Sink or swim Sink or swim That's where we talk about things That are giving us hope for the future And are bumming us out Is that what we do here? Yeah Is that what it is? Well whatever It's whatever we make it I think that's what I say The rest is still written To valleys But whatever It still works Go ahead Listen I don't have firm clarification on this
[00:38:37] But last week we got into a big to do About whether or not Young Jacobs actor was coming back For future seasons Or brand stance was that they were possibly using They shot them all in his b-roll or something Right And all I I'll be honest I don't care enough I haven't looked into this past Double Decker Lisa's comment But Double Decker Lisa said that she saw somewhere That someone from the show said that it was all stock footage
[00:39:05] And I can't corroborate that I have no reason to believe that Double Decker Lisa would lie But brand if that's true You were right I was wrong You're right I was wrong It's that simple And also that was my hot take I only get 10 of these And these are such precious cargo These way home hot takes And so I apologize to everyone for wasting one If indeed Oh I was with you I'm sorry too If that is correct You're right I'm wrong To be fair I only really have one person
[00:39:34] Giving me second hand information Yeah and it's third hand Because you were telling it from Lisa Who saw it from someone Right Who wasn't the actor And again I have no reason to think that Double Decker Lisa would like So yeah I mean you could just trust me But it's fine So It's fine Sure I don't know if I'm sinking this woman on that Yeah But yeah Dan I can confirm Both of them are in their 20s garb when they jump in So they finally cracked it
[00:40:04] They finally cracked it They did not jump in denim They jumped in the right garb And they just hoped it dried off Right But is Elliot's garb Nick's garb or did he It's Nick's exact outfit It's the outfit that Cliff sees him in So I'm assuming Hilarious Alright well that actually is smart But out of all the things they waste time pointing out on on the show They should have pointed that out Are they proud of themselves that 36 episodes in They finally figured out the thing they should have been doing the whole time? Yeah
[00:40:32] Well they're gonna come back on here for the series finale So we'll ask them Oh I'm sure they'll come back for that Yeah they're gonna What I I know that this show is already shot But my jeans reel I think really They were like you know what he's fine He's right We gotta change that right now Cause that uh That did well That reel did that well That reel performed well Okay People know People get it People understand Um I I am with you Ryguy about the
[00:41:01] The Landry Goodwin thing I There's something about what they're setting up with Jacob and Abby That I think Is so gonna End up being A big reveal In 10 Oh my god But I can't Figure out a way That I'm gonna care about it Cause I agree I don't care about this rivalry Yeah So to speak And so
[00:41:31] I'm concerned Cause this is now A big chunk of What I'm I'm assuming Is gonna be a big chunk Of this final Half of the season Is this Jacob Abby Storyline That they Just by You mentioned it He literally is Up top Doing a Soliloquy On love Soliloquy Yes How names Aren't just names They don't mean Like a whole like What's in a name
[00:41:58] So I'm worried about that I'll be honest with you I'm worried that It's going to Like the one The big reveal At the end of the season Is gonna be something about The two of them And I'm not gonna care And that's gonna bum me out So I'm with you That they are definitely Setting something up With Jacob and Abby Definitely And I would submit to you That no show In the history of Television That has this premise So like A Lost Or a Twin Peaks Or a
[00:42:28] A show that Requires you to be You know carefully They want you to carefully Intently view it It's serialized There's big mysteries Jensen's Jed Mill Jensen's Jed Mill Is a huge one For sure Doggy go home Doggy go home Underrated In that regard No show Of that ilk With five episodes Left in its run Presents a new thing That is supposed To play into A bigger thing Right No good version Of that show Exists Right Like you don't wait
[00:42:58] Until 36 episodes In To plant a seed Like this This is the These episodes Should be when we Start to put the Pieces together Not when we Add a new puzzle In And that's what They're doing here And that sucks My sink or swim Is And they bring it up In one line In this episode Which almost made Me angrier You remember When Jacob Committed a crime Like He committed An active crime Right He went That ultimate Episode last season That's right And he got He was on videotape
[00:43:27] At the very least Trespassing Destruction Of property And that is why He like One of the reasons He thinks he needs To leave Yes Am I wrong here I don't remember What came of it I believe he feels shame Yeah Yeah But they never really And he's also just Trying to find his own way And they basically The way home Are just The way You got it They basically Have just decided That that is only necessary When we need it to be I guess When we're dealing With the good ones Yeah I just don't know That felt like A really big deal
[00:43:56] The show wanted us To care at the time And now I don't feel Like they've really Allowed that thread To be dealt with In any way Shape or form We did it Everybody Congratulations to us How about we come back Next week I love it Come back next week We're talking about Episode 7 I think we'll have A good time with that Until then Maybe we're the first To wish you a Merry Christmas Deck the Hallmark The Bramble Jam podcast Produced by Brandon Gray And yeah that Greenville South Carolina For more information On the show You can go to DecktheHallmark.com Or follow us on Insta At DecktheHallmark
