This Time Each Year (Hallmark Mystery - 2024)

The movie kicks off with a montage of a couple taking Christmas card pictures together over the years. It’s the McCaul family, and they are loving each other until 2023, when Kevin shows up late, and it’s clear his wife Lauren is very annoyed.

Cut to the present day, and Kevin and Lauren are separated. You hate to see it; you also hate to see sober Kevin get fired from his bar job. That’s right…bar job. Apparently his sobriety was a liability.

After that, they all meet up at Kevin’s family’s house. Kevin and Lauren talk about working together to make sure that their son Charlie still has a great Christmas. When Lauren asks Kevin how work is going, he says, “Good!” but doesn’t tell her he was fired. That secret doesn’t last long, though, as his mom spills the beans. Lauren is upset and goes to leave. Kevin tries to stop her, and it becomes clear that part of their problems stem from the financial hardship of buying their dream home, which ended up being a money pit.

Lauren is eating cookies in bed (which spoke to me), when she gets a call from her mom, who tells her she’s coming to visit for Christmas. Uh oh – she doesn’t know about the separation.

So Lauren goes to ask Kevin if he’d be willing to help keep it a secret from her mom, and he agrees to a fake Christmas in exchange for them going back to couples therapy and going on their annual Christmas date together.

Kevin shows up, says hi to Lauren’s mom, and uses the opportunity to kiss Lauren.

They go to therapy, where Lauren shares how her mother’s judgment affected her growing up as “Little Miss Mess” because she never finished what she started. This is why she doesn’t want her mom to know about the separation or that the dream house isn’t working out.

Lauren’s mom, Janet, was only supposed to be there for one day because she had a Christmas cruise planned – but it turns out the cruise was fake!

They decide to keep going with the lie, but it doesn’t last long. At the ice skating rink, Kevin is late and is acting sketchy. Overwhelmed with emotion, Lauren ends up telling Janet the truth.

They all go to a community center gingerbread house competition – montage time! At the contest, Kevin finds out that Lauren is in the process of getting the house ready to sell.

But when Kevin meets Jason, the real estate agent Lauren is considering, he gets a little jealous and jumps headfirst into helping with the house that that Lauren doesn’t have alone time with Jason.

Later, Kevin’s dad has to go to the hospital, and Kevin uses the moment to get serious, promising his dad that he’ll help out more because he wants to be “Helper of the Week.”

Kevin gets a job at a counselor’s office. His goal is to become a counselor because, again, he wants that “Helper of the Week” status, but for now, he’ll just be working in the office.

Kevin forgets about their Christmas date, so he quickly sets up a projector in the “dream home” and decorates it for Christmas. He plays Lauren’s favorite movie, they laugh, eat Chinese food, and slow dance to some Frank Sinatra. It’s the kind of moment that brings two people together – until Lauren’s mother’s angel ornament breaks. Lauren is devastated because she feels she’ll always be seen as a “Little Miss Messy” daughter, but she comes clean to her mom.

Just then, the handsome real estate agent shows up to tell Lauren about an offer on the house and asks her out for dinner. Kevin assumes it’s a date and tells Janet how being called “Little Miss Mess” affected Lauren.

Janet apologizes to Lauren for the “Little Miss Mess” nickname, explaining she only called her that because her room was always a mess. She then shows her that she fixed the angel ornament. Lauren remarks that it’s even better than before. Janet says, “Instead of hiding imperfections, you use them to add to the beauty.”

Lauren rushes to find Kevin at the church, but he’s just left to do some deliveries. So, she teams up with his family, and after church, they drop him off at the dream house, where she tells him she no longer wants to just “fix things” but to work on growing together. They share a big kiss.

Cut to Christmas morning, and they’re all together, happy and content.

[00:00:01] Hi, I'm Brandon. I love Hallmark Christmas movies. Hi, I'm Brian. I like Hallmark Christmas movies. Hey, I'm Dan and I despise Hallmark Christmas movies and this is the Deck The Hallmark Podcast. Deck The Hallmark, it's this podcast. And friends host this podcast. We hope you like this jolly podcast.

[00:00:31] Wow, wow, wow. Week two is here already everybody. Happy Halloween week. Happy week of Christmas movies to everyone who celebrates. It's great to be back here.

[00:00:44] The world we live in, Brian, is by the end of this week we'll finish nine new Christmas movies before Halloween. That's a, I mean, wow. Wow, wow.

[00:00:56] Yeah. Yeah. This was the first weekend, a real, real weekend of regular movie watching. Yeah. Already I'm a little overwhelmed. No.

[00:01:04] A little bit. Yeah. Yeah. It's a hefty schedule. It's hefty. Well, we come in here and try to do all of them on Monday too. So it probably doesn't.

[00:01:12] It's a lot. Yeah, it's a lot. Is it, is it, uh, is it obtainable? Yeah. Well, we'll see. I think it's supposed to not be a little bit. That's right. Isn't it supposed to be hard?

[00:01:21] That's right. We said last year was too easy. Yeah. Let's do it all. We don't do things because they're easy. That's right. We do things because we thought they would be easy. Oh, because it's the right. I don't know.

[00:01:33] We're excited today to talk about, uh, this time each year, Hallmark mystery. You know, it's the Hallmark mystery because of the pensive piano that plays throughout the movie.

[00:01:42] Uh, the gunshot. Uh, no, you guys didn't hear gunshot. I heard, I watched the same movie. Yeah. Yeah, we did. I used it. I had a gunshot at the beginning of the mystery.

[00:01:52] This time each year could have been the name of five year Christmas party. It could have been. Hey, you're right. That's a great point.

[00:01:58] I could have been this time each year. What does that title mean? This time each year. I think it's the December 22nd date that they do every year, but I don't, I don't like the title.

[00:02:06] I think it's a bad title for that movie. I hadn't really thought about it. Same here. Yeah. I don't really. Wow. Um, anyway, that's for later for now. It's, uh, great to be back here on Philo.

[00:02:16] Philo.tv slash DTH. Hopefully you're watching us and you see me doing this. What am I doing?

[00:02:21] Quit it. Watch out. Watch out.

[00:02:24] Uh, follow out to be such DTH to see me do magic tricks like that. And, uh, also to watch all these movies that we're talking about. Uh, it's going to be a big full season on Philo.

[00:02:36] And, uh, the DVR can handle it. So you can, you can, uh, just save them all and you'll be good to go for the entire season. Really excited about that DVR.

[00:02:44] Dude. It's in the one button ad skip. We were watching this movie just before we recorded this. The one button ad skip brand. It saves so much time. Oh yeah. You'd still be watching. Yeah. Yeah. I would say if we didn't have Philo, we'd still be watching it.

[00:02:57] My math checks out. Um, so that's my understanding of it as well. Uh, so Philo, if you want to join the fun, uh, and watch us, I think we're pretty good.

[00:03:06] It's a lot. I think like looking at us, we're not like, we're pretty good. I think we're okay. I mean, I don't think anybody's watching being like hubba hubba, but they're not like that. Does a lot of the work. It's like, well, that could have been worse.

[00:03:19] Yeah. It's amazing. But it's not terrible. And that's really all you're hoping for. Yeah. Uh, but what we lack, I think Philo makes up for a lot of stuff that they have on the, on the platform. It's really phenomenal. Uh, you know, what else is phenomenal is this game right here. Christmas movie magic.

[00:03:32] It is a card game that we've released in partnership with fink and fink games. And it is blowing up is my understanding. It's blowing up. People are loving it there. Uh, it's available now, uh, on the Amazon. You can go to deck to Homer.com slash game to find it easily and, uh, purchase it and play it. I think it's a lot of fun.

[00:03:50] And Aaron, you've been playing it by yourself or with all the people that you hang out with all the time, if you want to, but you can play it by yourself if you want to, or with all the people, all your friends.

[00:04:02] How is it by yourself?

[00:04:03] It's great.

[00:04:04] Yeah.

[00:04:05] Um, I've found that I'm like, who's winning really locked in.

[00:04:07] Yes.

[00:04:08] Um, I don't, not playing it the way that you play with friends.

[00:04:13] Like there is a way to play it by yourself where you draw four cards instead of three and make it through.

[00:04:18] And I've just made up my own rules where I'm just trying to find one Christmas movie where I can get rid of all the cards.

[00:04:24] Wow.

[00:04:24] Uh, haven't made it yet.

[00:04:26] Uh, but this movie that we're talking about today, this time each year is the most cards that I've made it through.

[00:04:31] Okay.

[00:04:32] Um, so yeah, it's just been fun to kind of like, you know, I get excited and, you know, brand, you were watching a movie this morning and I heard you go mittens.

[00:04:40] The cards stick with you.

[00:04:43] The cards that, uh,

[00:04:45] The cards that you weren't able to get rid of in one movie.

[00:04:49] Yes.

[00:04:50] The cards that I was unable to get rid of.

[00:04:52] There are no animals.

[00:04:53] Where are the puppies and cats?

[00:04:54] There's no animals.

[00:04:55] You keep thinking about them and then you see them in another movie and you're like, dadgummit, why couldn't I have had them for this one?

[00:05:01] So anyway, Christmas movie magic gets out right now.

[00:05:04] And I'm undefeated and I want to make that clear.

[00:05:06] Yeah.

[00:05:06] I think you're really going to win.

[00:05:08] Yeah, of course you are.

[00:05:09] Please share your thoughts with us.

[00:05:10] We'd love to hear it though.

[00:05:11] But I think, I think it's a ton of fun.

[00:05:12] Um, and, uh, Dan, anything else that we need the people to know?

[00:05:16] I mean, not off the top of my head brand, but I'm sure as we get moving, we'll figure out.

[00:05:20] Are you talking about the top of your head?

[00:05:24] It's right there.

[00:05:25] What are you?

[00:05:25] What's up?

[00:05:26] What's over there on the top of your head?

[00:05:29] Oh, you mean that Greenville?

[00:05:31] Yeah, that Greenville.

[00:05:32] Oh my goodness.

[00:05:33] Right on the top of the head.

[00:05:34] Man, that was better than even we scripted it.

[00:05:36] I know.

[00:05:36] Uh, we are recording it in Greenville, South Carolina and we love Greenville.

[00:05:40] They come, um, and join us every single holiday season, um, because they realize that they

[00:05:46] are the perfect Hallmark Christmas town that hasn't had a movie made in it yet.

[00:05:50] Oh, yeah.

[00:05:51] It is, uh, if you're looking for that small town magical feel that you see in these movies

[00:05:55] and you've wondered, does that actually exist?

[00:05:56] It does.

[00:05:57] And it's called Greenville, South Carolina.

[00:05:59] So come on, join us.

[00:06:00] Lots of fun things happening this holiday season in Greenville, which we'll be telling you about

[00:06:04] throughout, uh, the season.

[00:06:06] And I think that's now it.

[00:06:07] Yeah, I feel good about it.

[00:06:08] Uh, let's dive into this time each year, shall we?

[00:06:12] It originally aired on the Hallmark Mystery Channel on October 24th, 2024, and it went a little

[00:06:17] something like this.

[00:06:18] Uh, the movie kicks off with a montage of a couple, uh, taking Christmas card pictures

[00:06:23] together over the years.

[00:06:24] It is the McCall family.

[00:06:27] And, uh, they are loving each other until 2023 when Kevin shows up late to the photo shoot

[00:06:35] and it is clear that his wife Lauren is very annoyed that he is once again late.

[00:06:43] Once again late.

[00:06:44] Cut to, uh, present day.

[00:06:46] Kevin and Lauren are separated.

[00:06:48] Uh, you hate to see it.

[00:06:50] And you also hate to see, uh, that sober Kevin gets fired from his bar job.

[00:06:56] That's right.

[00:06:56] The bar job that apparently his sobriety was a liability.

[00:07:00] Uh, after that, they all, uh, meet up at Kevin's family's house.

[00:07:06] Kevin and Lauren talk about, uh, working together to make sure that their son, Charlie, still

[00:07:10] has a great Christmas.

[00:07:12] When Lauren asks Kevin how he, how work has been going, he's like, good, but doesn't tell

[00:07:18] her that he was fired.

[00:07:19] That secret does not last long as mom spills the beans and Lauren is now upset and goes to

[00:07:26] leave.

[00:07:27] Kevin tries to stop her and it becomes clear that part of the problem, uh, that their

[00:07:31] relationship has stems from maybe a past of lying and also financial hardships that have,

[00:07:38] um, uh, occurred after buying their dream house, which ended up being a money pit.

[00:07:44] Lauren, uh, is eating cookies in bed, which spoke to my soul.

[00:07:49] And, uh, she gets a call from her mom who tells her that she is coming to visit for Christmas

[00:07:53] for one day only, which is a big, uh, oh, because she doesn't know about the separation.

[00:07:59] So Lauren goes to ask Kevin if he'd be willing to keep it, uh, in a secret for her mom.

[00:08:05] Um, and he agrees to do a little fake Christmas in exchange for two things.

[00:08:09] One, they go back to couples therapy and two, they get to go on their annual Christmas date,

[00:08:15] which happens this time each year.

[00:08:17] This time each year.

[00:08:17] That's the name of the movie.

[00:08:19] Oh my goodness.

[00:08:20] Um, so Kevin shows up, says hi to Lauren's mom and uses this opportunity to kiss Lauren

[00:08:25] because you can't say no in front of mom.

[00:08:27] Um, they go to therapy, which Lauren shares how her mother's judgment affected her growing up.

[00:08:35] Uh, little miss mess is what her mom would call her because she never finished what she started.

[00:08:42] This is why she doesn't want to tell her mom about the separation or the dream house.

[00:08:46] That's not working out.

[00:08:48] Uh, it's just classic little miss mess.

[00:08:50] Lauren's mom, Janet was only supposed to be there one day because she had a Christmas cruise planned,

[00:08:56] but it turns out the cruise was fake.

[00:08:59] She got scammed online.

[00:09:01] I would never, uh, they decide to keep going with the lie, but it doesn't last long.

[00:09:07] At the ice skating rink, Kevin is late and is acting all sketchy about why he's late.

[00:09:12] Um, overwhelmed with emotion, Lauren ends up telling Janet the truth.

[00:09:17] They all go to a community center gingerbread house competition, which means it's montage time.

[00:09:22] Uh, at the contest, Kevin finds out that Lauren is in the process of getting the house ready to sell.

[00:09:28] This is news to him.

[00:09:29] He is sad.

[00:09:30] But when Kevin meets Jason, the real estate agent Lauren is considering,

[00:09:34] he gets a little jealous and jumps headfirst into helping the house,

[00:09:38] uh, helping decorate the house, um, so that Lauren doesn't have any alone time with Jason.

[00:09:43] Uh, later, Kevin's dad has to go to the hospital and Kevin uses this moment to get very serious,

[00:09:51] promising his dad that he will help out more because he wants to be Brian's helper of the week.

[00:09:56] Uh, Kevin gets a job.

[00:09:58] Kevin gets a job out of counselor's office.

[00:10:00] His goal is to become a counselor because again, he wants that helper of the week status,

[00:10:05] but for now he'll just be working in the office.

[00:10:08] Kevin forgets about the, uh, about their Christmas date,

[00:10:11] which was literally one of the things that he wanted out of, uh, going along with this lie.

[00:10:16] So he quickly sets up a projector in their quote unquote dream house and decorates it for Christmas.

[00:10:21] He plays Lauren's favorite movie.

[00:10:23] They laugh, they eat Chinese food, and they slow dance to some Frank Sinatra.

[00:10:28] It's the kind of moment that brings two people together until Lauren's mother's special angel ornament breaks.

[00:10:36] Lauren is devastated because she feels like she'll once again be seen as little Miss,

[00:10:42] little Miss messy.

[00:10:45] Um, but she does finally come clean to her mom.

[00:10:49] Just, just as, uh, she's telling her mom the truth about the angel,

[00:10:54] the handsome real estate agent shows back up and tells Lauren that they have an offer on the house.

[00:10:59] Um, and it's all cash and it can happen ASAP.

[00:11:02] Kevin, uh, when Kevin shows up, she finds, uh, he finds out that she is with, uh, Jason and, uh, assumes that it's a date

[00:11:10] and uses this time to tell Janet that, uh, her calling Lauren a little Miss mess really messed Lauren up.

[00:11:18] Uh, so maybe you're the little Miss, maybe you're the little Miss mess.

[00:11:21] You made a little Miss mess.

[00:11:22] That's exactly right.

[00:11:23] Uh, Janet, Janet, later Janet apologizes to Lauren for the little Miss mess nickname,

[00:11:28] explaining that she only called her that because her room was always a mess.

[00:11:32] Everything else was just a big misunderstanding.

[00:11:35] She, uh, then shows her that she fixed the angel ornament.

[00:11:38] Lauren, um, remarks that it's even better than before.

[00:11:43] And Janet says, instead of hiding the imperfections, you use them to add to the beauty.

[00:11:50] What a lesson.

[00:11:51] Lauren rushes to find Kevin at the church, but he's off, um, doing some deliveries because he is a helper.

[00:11:58] So, uh, she teams, teams up.

[00:12:00] We'll find out.

[00:12:01] Uh, she teams up with his family and after church, they drop him off at the dream house

[00:12:06] where she tells him that she no longer wants to just quote unquote fix things, but wants

[00:12:11] to work on growing together and used to things to make their relationship even more beautiful.

[00:12:16] They share a big kiss cut to Christmas morning.

[00:12:19] They're all together.

[00:12:20] They're taking pictures and they're happy.

[00:12:22] And that my friends was this time each year.

[00:12:27] You did it.

[00:12:28] That's right.

[00:12:29] Uh, let's take a quick break.

[00:12:30] We'll come back.

[00:12:31] We'll break this movie down with four segments here on Take the Hallmark.

[00:12:35] Thank you, everybody.

[00:12:45] I hope you're doing well today on this Tuesday.

[00:12:50] Uh, it's time to talk about this time each year.

[00:12:52] It is where we, uh, dive deep into this movie and we start with one segment and one segment

[00:12:57] only.

[00:12:57] We would never start with any other segment.

[00:12:59] It's time for the hot take is where we share exactly how you felt about this movie.

[00:13:02] Book recommendations brand.

[00:13:04] Oh, dude.

[00:13:05] You know what I realized is that we wrote this kid's book.

[00:13:07] When's it going to be Christmas again?

[00:13:09] And it every year it hits just as great as it did the year before.

[00:13:12] It does.

[00:13:13] It doesn't ever get older.

[00:13:14] My kids are getting older, which makes this a harder read for me.

[00:13:18] Yes.

[00:13:18] Cause it is because the book coming true.

[00:13:20] That's right.

[00:13:21] But the book itself still hits.

[00:13:25] I, uh, I'm very, very proud of this book.

[00:13:28] You and I wrote it and you can find it on Amazon right now.

[00:13:30] When's it going to be Christmas again?

[00:13:32] I would check it out.

[00:13:32] Go for it.

[00:13:33] Go fight when.

[00:13:34] Okay.

[00:13:34] I thought that we were doing the book recommendations later.

[00:13:36] So I apologize.

[00:13:37] So yeah.

[00:13:37] What was that?

[00:13:38] Can I just tell a cute story about that book?

[00:13:40] I would love it.

[00:13:41] Um, so last year I bought that book for my best friend's son.

[00:13:44] He just turned five.

[00:13:45] Um, and he, once the weather started getting cooler, she said that he's been asking, when's

[00:13:50] it going to be Christmas again?

[00:13:51] Because auntie Aaron comes home.

[00:13:53] Um, and so it's a great book because of the book.

[00:13:56] No, but like he's been asking, that's the book they read.

[00:13:59] I read it to him last Christmas.

[00:14:00] He's excited.

[00:14:01] And so she's like, yeah, he wants to know when's it going to be Christmas again?

[00:14:03] And I was like, oh, that's so sweet.

[00:14:05] So it's a great book.

[00:14:06] It makes a great gift for all ages.

[00:14:08] That's right.

[00:14:08] Shout out.

[00:14:09] Thank you.

[00:14:10] Um, it's time for actually the hot take.

[00:14:13] Oh, okay.

[00:14:13] I thought we were going to slide right by it.

[00:14:14] I thought it was book wrecks.

[00:14:15] No, no, no.

[00:14:15] It's time where we share our thoughts on the movie.

[00:14:18] We don't hold back and I'll start with you, Brian.

[00:14:20] Brian, what'd you think about, um, this?

[00:14:23] I think it's the first Hallmark.

[00:14:25] Yes.

[00:14:25] The first Hallmark mystery of the Christmas movie.

[00:14:28] What'd you think?

[00:14:28] I had this in my bottom three, uh, for our ranking.

[00:14:32] I think we all did in our hearts.

[00:14:33] In our hearts.

[00:14:34] I think we all had it in our bottom three.

[00:14:36] I gave it to you, but it was also in my bottom three.

[00:14:38] All of our hearts.

[00:14:39] Yeah.

[00:14:40] Uh, boy, was I wrong about this one.

[00:14:42] I liked it.

[00:14:42] I did.

[00:14:43] Um, this, uh, I do think the moral of the story here is if you do family photo shoots,

[00:14:48] you're probably ending up divorced.

[00:14:50] Uh, so I'm glad it's finally family photo shoot professional.

[00:14:54] It is something we've all thought about.

[00:14:56] Absolutely.

[00:14:57] So be careful.

[00:14:58] Tread carefully.

[00:14:59] Everybody.

[00:14:59] What a decade.

[00:15:00] I think it's plenty.

[00:15:01] Yeah.

[00:15:01] I mean, this is not a C I mean, per season.

[00:15:05] Are you kidding me?

[00:15:06] Uh, so the, this was a sweet, relatable story, uh, very different than what we usually

[00:15:10] get on screen.

[00:15:11] It's kind of nice to not see a start of a new relationship.

[00:15:15] We're already in a relationship and we're working on repairing it.

[00:15:18] The family is super involved.

[00:15:19] The McCalls McCall.

[00:15:21] McCall.

[00:15:22] What a family.

[00:15:23] I knew they were from Massachusetts before I knew we were in Massachusetts.

[00:15:27] This family, like they really hit the tone and they were a big, uh, bright spot in this

[00:15:31] movie for me.

[00:15:32] Um, and I love the cruise scam.

[00:15:34] That was so funny.

[00:15:35] And it, I don't know.

[00:15:36] It worked really well for me.

[00:15:38] So really well done.

[00:15:39] You love seeing people getting scammed whenever it happens to brand, which is like once a quarter

[00:15:43] of these days, he walks in and you just laugh.

[00:15:46] It is a hoot.

[00:15:48] It's a hoot.

[00:15:49] Five owls.

[00:15:50] Uh, five owls.

[00:15:51] Okay.

[00:15:51] Fair enough.

[00:15:52] Fair enough.

[00:15:53] Do we have the money for five?

[00:15:54] I thought we had the money for four.

[00:15:56] Man.

[00:15:56] Oh, maybe it was five.

[00:15:57] We didn't have the money for six.

[00:15:58] I think they wanted the sixth.

[00:15:59] Yeah.

[00:15:59] Yeah.

[00:16:00] Yeah.

[00:16:00] Yeah.

[00:16:01] Yeah.

[00:16:01] Um, I'm with you, Brian.

[00:16:02] I, uh, this movie surprised me, um, because I also kind of went into it being like, you know,

[00:16:08] sometimes the mystery movies because of the pensive piano and the serious subject matter,

[00:16:13] uh, can bum me out a little bit.

[00:16:16] We also started this movie at seven 30 in the morning.

[00:16:18] And so, um, you know, you never know what's going to happen.

[00:16:21] That's right.

[00:16:22] So, but we turned it on and, uh, I was immediately struck one by how well I thought Alison Sweeney

[00:16:30] and now made her work together.

[00:16:31] They felt, it felt real to me.

[00:16:34] Darn it.

[00:16:34] It, uh, those two, it felt like a couple that is a seasoned couple and is going through

[00:16:40] a tough time.

[00:16:40] It felt real.

[00:16:42] Um, and so I felt like the two of them just really made this movie better than, than I

[00:16:49] thought that it was going to be.

[00:16:50] It surprised me.

[00:16:51] I, I, the scene where, um, he walks in and she, she kisses him on the cheek and he looks

[00:16:56] over and mom's there.

[00:16:56] So he's like, okay, here we go.

[00:16:58] It's time to kiss.

[00:16:59] Um, that was funny.

[00:17:00] Um, you know, and, and so the scenes where they're talking about stuff that's happened

[00:17:07] in the past and you're just kind of like, what are they like, what are they talking

[00:17:10] about here?

[00:17:11] Um, you know, that maybe that didn't work necessarily.

[00:17:15] Some of it was like a lot of like, here's some backstory that we're going to tell you

[00:17:19] some about, but not everything, which I guess is on one hand nice.

[00:17:23] Cause I could only hear so much about, uh, someone's tough time with, with alcohol before

[00:17:29] I get sad.

[00:17:30] So I felt like they hand, like they didn't like, it's clearly something that happened

[00:17:34] and it's something that affected them.

[00:17:36] Um, but they didn't harp on it too long on.

[00:17:38] So on one hand, thanks for doing that.

[00:17:40] But on the other hand, it left me a little bit confused occasionally about what, what

[00:17:44] actually happened.

[00:17:45] Um, but overall movie was a surpriser and that's all you can really ask for with a 7 30 AM, uh,

[00:17:51] Hallmark mystery, which is again, that was my experience watching me, not yours at home.

[00:17:55] Um, but I think regardless of when you watched it, this movie may have been a little surprising

[00:17:59] for you.

[00:17:59] It may be been better than you might've expected.

[00:18:01] Dana.

[00:18:02] I think this is a really good reminder how important or at least how much expectations

[00:18:07] factor in to us when we rank these movies and when we rate these movies, because like

[00:18:13] we did a draft seven hosts.

[00:18:16] Nope.

[00:18:16] Did anyone choose this movie?

[00:18:17] I think it may have been somebody's fifth pick.

[00:18:19] So like not a single deck, the Hallmark coast, all seven of us had this in their top 30.

[00:18:26] Right.

[00:18:26] And so I do think that matters because I don't, I wasn't crazy about this movie, but the, uh,

[00:18:34] Jack's has it.

[00:18:36] Jack's has it.

[00:18:36] Yeah.

[00:18:37] So Jack's chosen as her fifth one.

[00:18:38] And she was, she picked first.

[00:18:41] So that was the last pick.

[00:18:43] This was number 35, number 35 in the draft.

[00:18:46] And I, it's definitely higher than that.

[00:18:49] I think Jack's is going to get some points for that.

[00:18:51] I think if you look at the, the gigantic discrepancy between what I thought this movie was going

[00:18:57] to be and what it was, I think that's the biggest win for this movie.

[00:19:02] Could Hallmark mystery pull off a movie where this guy was an alcoholic and did something

[00:19:08] so terrible that it caused his wife to leave him and then not tell us what it is.

[00:19:14] No, I don't think that they pulled that off.

[00:19:17] I thought that that was very trite and very easy and we never get to dig into these emotions

[00:19:23] because it would make people like brand too sad.

[00:19:25] And I think that that's fair.

[00:19:26] But basically the, my understanding and correct me if I'm wrong, but the big thing was he was

[00:19:32] having a problem with alcohol and he drove while drunk and he lost his license.

[00:19:36] We know he lost his license and we know he was late to a photo shoot, but we don't know

[00:19:39] anything else specifically.

[00:19:40] Yeah.

[00:19:40] But I kind of assumed that all that was, they didn't say anything, but I assumed that was

[00:19:44] all connected.

[00:19:44] I, in my head, I'm going, these two people love each other.

[00:19:47] The chemistry is great.

[00:19:48] It's the best I've seen Alison Sweeney ever.

[00:19:51] But she's not leaving him for that.

[00:19:54] Like in my head, it was like, I need to know the thing.

[00:19:56] I need to know the thing that happened.

[00:19:58] They're talking about a pretty seminal event here that happened and we don't ever get that

[00:20:03] thing because it's Hallmark.

[00:20:04] It's also the house, the financial house.

[00:20:07] I feel like that was a huge burden, huge amount of stress in the relationship.

[00:20:10] There's probably a lot of lines.

[00:20:11] And I think that we're stretched a little thin here, especially with the house.

[00:20:15] There's some questions about what these people do for a living.

[00:20:17] There's some definite financial questions.

[00:20:19] Having said that, the two of them work really well.

[00:20:21] And if you, I thought this movie was just an absolute grand slam of a two of 10 before

[00:20:27] I watched it.

[00:20:28] In the preview, I would have told you zeros across the board, not looking forward to it.

[00:20:33] It's a Hallmark mystery.

[00:20:34] It's Thursday night.

[00:20:35] It's a serious movie about a couple that's already been together.

[00:20:38] And based upon those standards, the fact that I have it probably is like a five and

[00:20:43] a half out of 10 seems like a real win.

[00:20:48] So hopefully it's a harbinger of good things to come.

[00:20:50] Yeah.

[00:20:51] Let's get to all the feels.

[00:20:52] We're talking about what they gave us feels.

[00:20:54] Brian.

[00:20:54] Yeah.

[00:20:55] Anytime we were at the McCall family house.

[00:20:57] Yeah.

[00:20:58] Thank you.

[00:20:58] Kevin was really, it felt really familiar.

[00:21:01] Like they felt like they grew up in that house.

[00:21:05] It's like a, she was like a nonchalant, but bossy mom.

[00:21:10] Like they would be goofing around and wrestling.

[00:21:11] She'd be like, Oh, you boys knock it off.

[00:21:13] And then, but then she would be on top of certain things.

[00:21:15] So like that, they just nailed that whole vibe of like, this is the house they grew

[00:21:19] up in and where they're super comfortable.

[00:21:21] Even though they're grown up, they go back there and they just start eating the food,

[00:21:24] rifling through the cabinets and slapping each other around.

[00:21:26] And so that worked really well for me.

[00:21:28] The bedroom was perfect with all those hockey posters.

[00:21:32] Like the only thing that was missing was that how your room at your parents, basically like

[00:21:37] a soccer clock.

[00:21:41] And the only thing that was missing was a poster of Veritek shoving the mitt in A-Rod's face

[00:21:46] is all that wall was missing.

[00:21:48] Ford Zimmer gets out there.

[00:21:49] He asked for it.

[00:21:51] So he was asking for it.

[00:21:53] You see the new documentary?

[00:21:54] Yeah.

[00:21:55] I loved it.

[00:21:55] I started it last night.

[00:21:56] I watched the 30 for 30 and I feel like I've covered it.

[00:21:59] Yeah, but what if you did a 30 for 30, but in three parts?

[00:22:01] Yeah.

[00:22:02] What if you did a 30 for 30, but you made it three times long?

[00:22:05] It was really good.

[00:22:06] So yeah, those feels, they nailed that family for Massachusetts knucklehead family.

[00:22:11] Yeah.

[00:22:11] So I felt like the brothers, they were going maybe a little bit too hard at first.

[00:22:17] I'm not with you on the family.

[00:22:18] But the thing that did work for me was when I think they were at the church towards the

[00:22:23] end and when they say goodbye to each other, they slap each other in the face real quick.

[00:22:27] Yeah.

[00:22:27] That worked.

[00:22:28] As somebody who has three brothers, that worked.

[00:22:32] And all the other random things that they would do, like where they would do things at the

[00:22:36] same time or whatever, I felt like it was maybe a little bit forced.

[00:22:38] But that, just quick little boop around on the face, that worked real good.

[00:22:42] Dano?

[00:22:42] The scene in his bedroom where he's talking with Allison Sweeney early in the movie and

[00:22:47] he's just holding back tears.

[00:22:49] That's not, that's peak Niall.

[00:22:50] And Niall's been on it.

[00:22:52] I saw peak Niall.

[00:22:52] He's been on it since the movie where he goes back at Ripon time.

[00:22:57] He's been crushing it.

[00:22:58] Everything he's done, he's playing a character.

[00:23:01] I mean, he's a different dude.

[00:23:03] And from an acting standpoint, really great choices he makes in this movie.

[00:23:08] You know what I heard about him?

[00:23:10] What'd you hear?

[00:23:10] About Ripon time?

[00:23:11] Yeah.

[00:23:12] Was that a, maybe you heard this too?

[00:23:14] Yes.

[00:23:14] But it was a lot, but I haven't talked to him about it to confirm it, but that he was

[00:23:18] a last minute addition.

[00:23:19] He was a last minute replacement.

[00:23:20] Which makes that performance even better.

[00:23:21] It makes it unbelievable.

[00:23:22] We did hear that from the same source and we can't confirm nor do not.

[00:23:26] We need to talk to Niall about it.

[00:23:28] But we heard that he was a very last minute replacement for that role and to give that

[00:23:31] performance, I mean, I think it changed him.

[00:23:35] Because since then he's been on it, man.

[00:23:36] He's been like nonstop.

[00:23:38] That kiss.

[00:23:38] In that movie.

[00:23:39] In the rain.

[00:23:40] In the rain.

[00:23:40] Forget about it.

[00:23:41] Forget about it.

[00:23:41] All right.

[00:23:42] Cool.

[00:23:42] Let's take a quick break.

[00:23:43] We'll come back and we'll get to the actual book recommendation of the week.

[00:23:47] What?

[00:23:47] And more here on Dike the Homework.

[00:23:48] It's not our book?

[00:23:49] It's the second.

[00:23:50] It's not our kids part two.

[00:23:58] It's time for the wait, buddy.

[00:24:00] Oh, no.

[00:24:00] No, it's not.

[00:24:01] It's time for the book recommendation of the week, actually.

[00:24:04] It is.

[00:24:04] Dan, you and I and our buddy Panda, we put out a book a few years ago called I'll Be

[00:24:08] Home for Christmas Movies.

[00:24:09] It's another.

[00:24:10] It's this one.

[00:24:11] I think kids would enjoy it, but it's not only for kids.

[00:24:13] It's not when it's going to be Christmas again.

[00:24:14] No, it's I'll Be Home for Christmas movies.

[00:24:16] And it's a lot of fun.

[00:24:18] It is a bunch of movies with synopses and fun things about them, some baking stuff.

[00:24:22] And it is a wonderful addition to your holiday season to have close by.

[00:24:28] Great coffee table book.

[00:24:28] A great coffee table book.

[00:24:30] And it's also just really nice looking, which is always a win.

[00:24:35] So that's available as well.

[00:24:37] Wow.

[00:24:37] I'm doing things, man.

[00:24:38] I didn't realize that you were going to do that.

[00:24:39] I wouldn't have planned to do that.

[00:24:41] I thought we talked about doing it.

[00:24:42] I thought for sure, if nothing else, I could have the book recommendation of the week.

[00:24:47] Well, maybe next episode.

[00:24:48] I don't know.

[00:24:49] I don't know.

[00:24:49] I'm sorry about that.

[00:24:50] Hey, it's time for The Wait What?

[00:24:51] So we talk about when this movie is go, wait, what?

[00:24:53] And I'll start with Brian.

[00:24:55] Brian, what's your wait and what's your what?

[00:24:56] Yeah.

[00:24:56] When are we going to get to the book recommendation segment?

[00:24:59] Fair enough.

[00:24:59] Big wait, what?

[00:25:00] I've been wondering.

[00:25:01] Fair enough.

[00:25:02] We'll get it figured out.

[00:25:03] We have our first book recommendation segment.

[00:25:05] Can't even mess it up.

[00:25:07] We'll tie it up at the end.

[00:25:08] We'll figure it out.

[00:25:09] The first red flag that you're being scammed with a cruise is that the cruise leaves out

[00:25:14] of Boston in December, I think, is number one.

[00:25:18] That's got to be one on the list.

[00:25:19] And the fact that she didn't see that coming.

[00:25:22] Yeah.

[00:25:23] Yeah.

[00:25:23] I mean, it took me a little while to realize it when she came back to the YouTube channel

[00:25:27] all over.

[00:25:29] Come on, man.

[00:25:31] Hello.

[00:25:32] So, yeah, that's just I mean, maybe maybe do a little due diligence there or just plan

[00:25:37] not to go on that cruise in December out of Boston.

[00:25:41] I was a little concerned about the confidentiality of that couples counselor.

[00:25:45] It looks like all that separating their very private discussions from the waiting room was

[00:25:49] just a glass French door system.

[00:25:52] It's almost like that is not a counselor's office.

[00:25:55] Almost.

[00:25:55] Almost.

[00:25:56] I didn't even hear a noise machine.

[00:25:57] Yeah.

[00:25:58] Waves.

[00:25:58] Nothing.

[00:25:59] Nothing.

[00:25:59] So they want you to hear.

[00:26:01] That's part of the you can learn from other people.

[00:26:03] Sometimes that helps.

[00:26:04] You hear other people get away worse.

[00:26:06] And maybe you don't even need to pay for the therapy.

[00:26:09] That applies to me.

[00:26:10] People don't think about that.

[00:26:11] That's right.

[00:26:12] When they walk in and they're like, oh, I feel good and safe because no one can hear

[00:26:15] all about my problems.

[00:26:16] Well, who knows?

[00:26:17] Jokes on you.

[00:26:18] Somebody hears about your problems.

[00:26:19] Maybe you help them.

[00:26:20] Two birds, one stone.

[00:26:21] It's the cruise out of Boston in December of counselor.

[00:26:24] Of counselor.

[00:26:24] So true.

[00:26:25] Yes.

[00:26:25] Kimmy, the poor real estate agent.

[00:26:27] I just every time she enters a scene, it's in the middle of an awkward conversation

[00:26:31] or an argument for her.

[00:26:33] It's tough for her.

[00:26:33] I guess that's the life of a real estate agent.

[00:26:35] You got to deal with those tough conversations.

[00:26:37] But I just felt so bad for her.

[00:26:38] She just kept walking in on just very awkward situations.

[00:26:42] Yeah, that was it for me.

[00:26:44] Early on in the movie, they're over at the house and one of the brothers, I think, goes

[00:26:52] to grab or maybe it's the dad.

[00:26:53] One of them goes to grab a cookie or something and mom slaps the hand.

[00:26:57] I guess they didn't get a good slap sound with the audio.

[00:27:01] So they added one.

[00:27:02] But what they added was a whip sound.

[00:27:03] Oh, they did.

[00:27:04] It's like whirls.

[00:27:05] It's like whip.

[00:27:07] Which I thought was really fun.

[00:27:09] Lee Hodo is going to have a field day with that.

[00:27:11] You never want your sound effects to stick out.

[00:27:15] You always want it to be seamless.

[00:27:16] So it's always tough when...

[00:27:17] Give me your hand.

[00:27:18] Give me your hand.

[00:27:20] You never want that.

[00:27:21] You never want that to be the case.

[00:27:23] So that's tough.

[00:27:24] No, you don't.

[00:27:25] No, you don't.

[00:27:26] One more time.

[00:27:30] Their song was The First Noel.

[00:27:32] Come on, guys.

[00:27:33] Yes.

[00:27:34] Which...

[00:27:34] The First Noel.

[00:27:34] You know what?

[00:27:35] We haven't had this in a while.

[00:27:36] We haven't had it in a while.

[00:27:38] And...

[00:27:38] I thought we'd retired it.

[00:27:39] I thought we were retired.

[00:27:41] Coming on back now.

[00:27:41] Coming on back.

[00:27:42] Bringing on back.

[00:27:43] Our song...

[00:27:44] One hop this time.

[00:27:46] Was The First Noel.

[00:27:47] And I think...

[00:27:48] It did make way for a really nice slow dance to Frank Sinatra.

[00:27:52] Frank Sinatra, yeah.

[00:27:54] And so it made it like...

[00:27:55] When it was happening, I was like, oh yeah, that's their song.

[00:27:58] And they sprung for Sinatra in the Hallmark movie.

[00:28:00] This is nice.

[00:28:00] But at the end of the day, your song can't be The First Noel.

[00:28:03] It cannot be The First Noel.

[00:28:04] Can't be the song about the Jesus.

[00:28:06] They called it.

[00:28:07] The Jesus?

[00:28:07] The baby.

[00:28:09] The baby.

[00:28:10] The baby.

[00:28:10] The baby.

[00:28:12] They go outside to decorate the house because it's not decorated yet.

[00:28:19] And turns out that they were only outside during book reading time.

[00:28:25] It's unbelievable.

[00:28:26] When Janet was reading to Charlie.

[00:28:29] The amount of work they were able to get done...

[00:28:32] How many books were they reading?

[00:28:34] Did they read When's It Gonna Be Christmas Again?

[00:28:36] A thousand times?

[00:28:37] Because even then, I don't know if that's enough time to do the amount of lights that they did on the outside.

[00:28:42] Go ahead.

[00:28:42] And then Niall Mader wakes up, forgets that it's the 22nd, and somehow still, in a matter of hours,

[00:28:48] has the ability to decorate that entire house over there, the Bay Hill house.

[00:28:53] The movie just...

[00:28:54] He had help, though.

[00:28:55] He said he had help.

[00:28:55] He said he had help.

[00:28:56] But it gives a pretty unrealistic expectation on how long it takes to decorate things.

[00:29:00] They make it sound like it's fun, easy, fast, and it's none of those things.

[00:29:04] But they did the outside assuming that it was like...

[00:29:07] They clearly didn't have it all together because they're all tangled up together.

[00:29:11] It's just silly.

[00:29:14] As somebody who just recently decorated a gingerbread house and now has the respect for nicely decorated gingerbread houses,

[00:29:21] there's no way that some of these houses that were decorated was done in an hour.

[00:29:26] It's just impossible.

[00:29:27] They've got a full frost job going on on some of these roofs.

[00:29:32] A full frost job.

[00:29:32] Full frost job.

[00:29:33] These houses looked amazing.

[00:29:36] And, you know, I know.

[00:29:37] They do it every year, so they have some practice.

[00:29:39] Of course.

[00:29:40] In one hour...

[00:29:41] You kidding me right now?

[00:29:42] You kidding me right now?

[00:29:43] You kidding me right now?

[00:29:44] Last but not least, you know, sometimes they do the thing where you're taking a picture at the end

[00:29:50] and you do a freeze frame and the freeze frame is clearly not from where the person was taking a picture.

[00:29:55] And you're like, well, that's tough.

[00:29:57] None tougher than this one where...

[00:29:58] Oh, my gosh.

[00:29:59] ...the freeze framed picture is taken from outside the house through a window.

[00:30:03] That's right.

[00:30:04] That's tough.

[00:30:05] Yes.

[00:30:05] Who's taking that picture?

[00:30:06] Yeah.

[00:30:07] Shouldn't want it.

[00:30:08] Don't want to frame that.

[00:30:09] I hate it.

[00:30:09] Especially when they had five golden opportunities for freeze frames.

[00:30:13] On the inside.

[00:30:13] And they just kept taking more pictures.

[00:30:15] And then the freeze frame we get...

[00:30:16] Let's freeze frame from the outside.

[00:30:18] ...is from a stalker.

[00:30:18] ...is from a stalker.

[00:30:19] Kimmy.

[00:30:20] It must have been Kimmy.

[00:30:21] It's probably Jason.

[00:30:22] You know what?

[00:30:22] Probably it's Jason.

[00:30:23] This is a mystery.

[00:30:24] Gunshot.

[00:30:25] Gunshot Jason.

[00:30:26] Dano?

[00:30:27] The kid in this movie, who we haven't really talked about much,

[00:30:30] they say that he's wearing this Santa suit every day until Christmas.

[00:30:34] He does drop that later in the movie.

[00:30:35] And then also, when his dad comes back to live at the house to fake that they're still together

[00:30:41] while the grandma's in town, the kid doesn't...

[00:30:44] Just goes with it.

[00:30:45] He doesn't give it up at all.

[00:30:48] And here's the thing is, have they ever seen an eight-year-old before?

[00:30:52] The two things I can tell you about my kids are they're really good at keeping outfits clean

[00:30:56] and not giving up secrets at all.

[00:30:58] Except no, they're not.

[00:31:01] There's just no world where this kid doesn't immediately tell his grandma what's going on.

[00:31:06] Dad doesn't live here anymore.

[00:31:07] That's going to be within the first two minutes of meeting her.

[00:31:11] Did you bring me a present?

[00:31:12] Dad doesn't live anymore.

[00:31:13] Listen, every year that we try...

[00:31:15] I've always wanted my kids to be able to buy, get their mom something.

[00:31:20] And so I take them to the store.

[00:31:22] I'm like, what do you think mom would like?

[00:31:23] Think about what she would like.

[00:31:24] From the time they were little and still, every year, it's the day that we go buy that gift.

[00:31:29] When my wife comes to the door, they are immediately like, mom!

[00:31:32] And I'm like, shush, shush, shush.

[00:31:35] There's no world.

[00:31:36] There's no world where he doesn't give that up.

[00:31:37] Can we talk about the world's smallest pizza for four people in the world?

[00:31:42] I guess so, yeah.

[00:31:43] Offended.

[00:31:44] The appetizers in Five Year Christmas Party are bigger than this pizza.

[00:31:48] Yeah.

[00:31:48] Spoiler alert.

[00:31:49] How dare you?

[00:31:51] How dare you film a movie in Canada with Canadian-sized pizzas and then act like we're going to think it's Boston?

[00:31:58] You would never see a family of four, three of which are adults, and have that pizza delivered to the table.

[00:32:04] Is it an appetizer?

[00:32:06] Is it an appetizer for two people?

[00:32:08] That's a 10-inch personal pie.

[00:32:10] All of them are sharing it like it's meant for them to share.

[00:32:13] You have lost your mind.

[00:32:15] That's a small, right?

[00:32:16] It's a small.

[00:32:17] It's just a warm-up.

[00:32:18] Half of the pan is empty.

[00:32:19] It is just you cannot possibly.

[00:32:22] I was angry for all involved.

[00:32:25] It's not even pizza.

[00:32:26] There's not even any more.

[00:32:26] No, they didn't order breadsticks.

[00:32:28] There's nothing.

[00:32:28] There's no other bread on there.

[00:32:29] There's nothing else on the table.

[00:32:30] Unless they finished it already.

[00:32:31] A small cheese pie for four of us to split.

[00:32:35] They say this movie is taking place at Christmas.

[00:32:37] I'm going to take their word for it, but there is green everywhere in this movie.

[00:32:42] The trees.

[00:32:43] It's Massachusetts for you.

[00:32:44] The grass.

[00:32:44] Classic mass.

[00:32:45] Green as can be.

[00:32:46] You were saying that the other day.

[00:32:47] You missed Boston in the wintertime.

[00:32:49] It's so green up there.

[00:32:49] Because down here, just the trees are all empty.

[00:32:51] But up in Boston.

[00:32:52] Oh, man.

[00:32:53] It's just flourishing.

[00:32:53] The foliage up there is.

[00:32:55] It's a late frost.

[00:32:56] It's a late frost.

[00:32:57] It's unbelievable.

[00:32:59] So they keep showing the Bay Hill house that they've not finished.

[00:33:02] And then they show the house that Allison Sweeney currently lives in.

[00:33:05] And the outside of the house Allison Sweeney currently lives in looks like it's maybe 1,200 square feet.

[00:33:11] Oh, minuscule.

[00:33:12] And the inside is cavernous.

[00:33:14] It is massive.

[00:33:16] And the juxtaposition there is quite something.

[00:33:19] That's all I got.

[00:33:21] It's time for What the Homework is.

[00:33:22] We wonder what it could have been.

[00:33:23] Maybe have it get some clarity on any questions that we still have.

[00:33:25] Brian, what are you still wondering about?

[00:33:27] Yeah.

[00:33:28] We'll find out Kevin is doing a recovery counseling program.

[00:33:31] He's almost done.

[00:33:33] We find this out very late.

[00:33:34] Very late.

[00:33:35] It would be something he would have said to hedge the bet of I lost my job.

[00:33:40] There's so many times he would have brought this up.

[00:33:42] So many times.

[00:33:42] Even in the very beginning when he gets fired.

[00:33:44] It's almost like he doesn't want to keep his wife.

[00:33:46] Yeah.

[00:33:46] It's almost like that a little bit.

[00:33:47] Yeah.

[00:33:48] So it just is he.

[00:33:50] I got to assume.

[00:33:51] Like, I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt that he is not just starting this.

[00:33:55] Like, he's been in it for.

[00:33:56] Because this takes years.

[00:33:57] Like, this is not a.

[00:33:58] You don't just become a counseling online in six months.

[00:34:02] Like, since last year when he ruined everything, he's like, he decided to change his life and do this.

[00:34:07] But he couldn't have.

[00:34:08] In 12 months, he's going to get a degree in counseling.

[00:34:11] Right.

[00:34:11] Forget it.

[00:34:11] And pay for it while they're doing all this other, the house nonsense.

[00:34:15] Like, forget it.

[00:34:15] So I'm just like, please tell me he started this years ago.

[00:34:19] I guess.

[00:34:20] Are we sure about that?

[00:34:21] He started while he was still drinking?

[00:34:24] So it's not specifically recovery, but he had almost gotten his degree in, like, therapy.

[00:34:30] Because he says, I just need a couple more classes to finish my degree.

[00:34:33] So the story, the timeline then is, is he did this, didn't quite finish, got into booze.

[00:34:40] And then after he got out of the booze, last year, he took the last couple of credits.

[00:34:46] Is that the one?

[00:34:47] I mean, I took it as he wasn't specifically in, like, recovery therapy.

[00:34:52] Like, he was pursuing regular therapy.

[00:34:54] No, no, no.

[00:34:55] But he just needed a couple credits.

[00:34:56] And when he got sober, that was when he was like, I'm going to finish this.

[00:34:59] Clear head.

[00:34:59] Clear mug.

[00:35:00] Clear mug.

[00:35:00] Yeah, well, he doesn't have it now.

[00:35:01] Like, he is.

[00:35:02] He enrolled in classes.

[00:35:03] He's finishing it.

[00:35:04] Oh, I thought they said he was just about done.

[00:35:06] So did I.

[00:35:06] Yeah.

[00:35:07] No, because, like, he doesn't get the therapist job.

[00:35:10] He gets an administrative job.

[00:35:12] Until he finishes.

[00:35:13] And when you finish, you can.

[00:35:14] So I just need more clarity on that.

[00:35:16] Yeah.

[00:35:16] It seemed pretty clear to me.

[00:35:18] Not to me.

[00:35:19] Yeah.

[00:35:19] Not to me.

[00:35:19] That sounds like a you problem.

[00:35:20] It is, obviously.

[00:35:22] And he baby steps through it.

[00:35:24] My favorite Reliant K song is I'm Getting Into Booze.

[00:35:27] To what?

[00:35:28] Favorite.

[00:35:28] Getting into booze.

[00:35:31] Because booze got to me.

[00:35:33] In a way where it's can't describe.

[00:35:35] What album is that song from?

[00:35:38] The real version.

[00:35:38] Tongue in cheek.

[00:35:39] Okay, that's why.

[00:35:40] What?

[00:35:41] The anatomy of tongue in cheek.

[00:35:41] Yeah.

[00:35:42] Fairly certain.

[00:35:44] We can look it up.

[00:35:46] It's time for.

[00:35:46] No.

[00:35:47] It's a good one.

[00:35:47] The homework.

[00:35:48] Did you already went?

[00:35:49] Yes.

[00:35:49] Mine's Jason.

[00:35:51] So Jason, she goes out to dinner with Jason.

[00:35:54] He will be strong.

[00:35:56] Jason says.

[00:35:57] Definitely getting flagged now.

[00:35:58] She says.

[00:35:59] Oh, I nailed it.

[00:36:00] Romeo wasn't enough.

[00:36:01] She says that it was, you know, they were just talking about the thing.

[00:36:05] And mom's like, Jason definitely thought it was a date.

[00:36:08] We never see Jason again.

[00:36:11] Poor Jason.

[00:36:11] Poor Jason's out there thinking that it was a date.

[00:36:13] And then just got ghosted.

[00:36:16] Not only am I not going to talk to you ever again, I'm also not selling my house.

[00:36:20] Not selling the house.

[00:36:20] Yeah.

[00:36:20] A tough break for Jason.

[00:36:22] Yeah.

[00:36:22] What happens with Jason?

[00:36:24] Poor Jason.

[00:36:25] Jason?

[00:36:26] They had good chemistry.

[00:36:27] He didn't deserve this.

[00:36:27] They did.

[00:36:28] Jason.

[00:36:29] Justice for Jason.

[00:36:30] Justice for Jason.

[00:36:31] He's a great guy.

[00:36:32] Dan?

[00:36:32] Yeah.

[00:36:33] Mine's pure financial.

[00:36:36] Good.

[00:36:36] What does, if you know, please tell me.

[00:36:39] What does Allison Sweeney do?

[00:36:40] What's her job in the movie?

[00:36:41] A business analyst or a business manager?

[00:36:44] Right.

[00:36:45] And then he doesn't have a job.

[00:36:47] Not anymore.

[00:36:48] And they.

[00:36:49] Well, you got to bring it up.

[00:36:50] We never see her working.

[00:36:52] They have two houses in Boston.

[00:36:54] Yeah.

[00:36:55] It doesn't seem like the money pit of it all is going to be fixed just because they're back together.

[00:37:00] I just am concerned.

[00:37:02] They're still going to lose this house.

[00:37:04] So by what the hallmark is, hopefully they make it.

[00:37:07] Yeah.

[00:37:07] I want not them personally.

[00:37:09] I think they're going to make it.

[00:37:10] I think they did a good job with their showing that their relationship is strong, but they're

[00:37:14] going to actually make it in their dream house and they're not going to lose it later

[00:37:18] for less money.

[00:37:19] Yeah.

[00:37:19] Yeah, absolutely.

[00:37:21] Time for double.

[00:37:22] I'll get a week.

[00:37:23] Just slow that down.

[00:37:25] I actually sped that up.

[00:37:26] It's time for double decker of the week.

[00:37:27] It's where we dive deep into the life of the double decker.

[00:37:29] That's signed up for Bramwell Gem Plus at the all access tier.

[00:37:32] No, at the double decker tier or higher.

[00:37:34] Yeah.

[00:37:35] Sure.

[00:37:35] We back to that.

[00:37:36] That's exactly right.

[00:37:37] Yeah.

[00:37:38] Dan, who do we have today?

[00:37:40] We have Liz Brophy.

[00:37:42] Liz Brophy.

[00:37:43] How about that?

[00:37:44] Yeah.

[00:37:45] Brian, you walked in.

[00:37:46] You had a little spring in your step today.

[00:37:48] You're excited about this one.

[00:37:49] Yeah.

[00:37:49] This one hits on a lot of the things I'm interested in, actually.

[00:37:51] Okay.

[00:37:52] It's not a business per se.

[00:37:53] Yeah.

[00:37:54] It's more of like she's doing something with, she's working towards something.

[00:37:59] She's Liz a bit of a streaker and she's really found a home.

[00:38:03] A streaker like she runs naked everywhere?

[00:38:05] No.

[00:38:05] Dan, come on.

[00:38:06] Come on.

[00:38:07] She's in the middle of a streak.

[00:38:08] All right.

[00:38:09] A real long streak.

[00:38:10] What's her streak?

[00:38:10] That is not a streaker.

[00:38:12] She's calling herself a streaker.

[00:38:14] When someone's in the middle of a winning streak, like let's say the Magic win five in

[00:38:18] a row, even Brian would be like, they're streakers.

[00:38:22] They're streakers.

[00:38:23] I'd walk in.

[00:38:23] He's going to now.

[00:38:25] Yeah.

[00:38:25] She's streaking it.

[00:38:26] She's out there streaking.

[00:38:27] She's out there streaking.

[00:38:29] She has this thing.

[00:38:31] She's been going to a lot of baking shows and she keeps getting kicked out.

[00:38:35] Because she's naked.

[00:38:37] No.

[00:38:37] There's nothing.

[00:38:38] She's fully clothed.

[00:38:39] Okay.

[00:38:39] It's get your mind out of the gutter.

[00:38:41] Yeah.

[00:38:42] No, no.

[00:38:42] Everybody's fully clothed.

[00:38:43] She's a bit of a streaker.

[00:38:45] She likes this streak she's got going.

[00:38:47] Okay.

[00:38:47] So she's on a streak.

[00:38:48] The streak is she goes on baking shows and gets kicked off?

[00:38:52] She keeps getting kicked out of the audience.

[00:38:54] That's the streak of the audience.

[00:38:56] She's not a contestant?

[00:38:57] No.

[00:38:57] She just goes and she watches.

[00:38:59] How does she get kicked out of the audiences?

[00:39:03] It's hard to say how it started, but she keeps getting kicked out for interrupting everything

[00:39:07] that's going on because she, as soon as they start baking, she starts going, hey, and just

[00:39:14] won't stop once she gets going.

[00:39:16] And they say, ma'am, out.

[00:39:18] And so part of her, she's like, yes, streak's alive.

[00:39:21] Other part bummed out.

[00:39:22] That's the C.

[00:39:23] The finish good.

[00:39:24] This seems like a pretty easy streak to continue.

[00:39:26] This is a real easy streak to continue.

[00:39:28] Where's the only thing, so you think the streak.

[00:39:30] I'm a little concerned.

[00:39:30] So how's it going to end?

[00:39:31] The hardest part for me is that I know, I already know because I know you, there's no more information.

[00:39:36] Right?

[00:39:37] Is there any more information?

[00:39:38] That's what she's doing.

[00:39:40] That's what we found.

[00:39:40] She's going to like cooking competitions.

[00:39:44] Baking shows and just yelling, hey, batter, batter, batter, batter.

[00:39:48] Like batter.

[00:39:48] Like the batter that you mix.

[00:39:49] Yeah.

[00:39:50] Yeah.

[00:39:50] Hey, batter, batter, batter.

[00:39:51] But, you know, it's.

[00:39:52] Do you think she thought about that?

[00:39:54] How the batter is similar to batter?

[00:39:57] Or do you think.

[00:39:58] Or is Dan reading too much into it?

[00:40:00] No, I think she planned this.

[00:40:01] I think it started with maybe she was like watching a baseball game while she's at a baking show because it was a little slow.

[00:40:08] And so sort of.

[00:40:12] This week on Baked.

[00:40:14] Baked time.

[00:40:15] Baked this.

[00:40:15] Baked this with Fred.

[00:40:18] Fred's going to bake against somebody who's going to win.

[00:40:21] Let's find out.

[00:40:22] Oh, somebody doesn't stand a chance because I have for you the cookie batter of all cookie batters.

[00:40:27] Hey, batter, batter, batter, batter.

[00:40:27] Hey, can we quiet it down over there?

[00:40:29] Hey, batter.

[00:40:30] Hey, I know that you bought a ticket like everybody else, but this batter needs to speak for its.

[00:40:36] Okay.

[00:40:37] That's a lot.

[00:40:38] I'm going to need you to not.

[00:40:39] Hey, Fred.

[00:40:40] Yeah.

[00:40:40] Tickets are free.

[00:40:42] Oh, they didn't pay anything.

[00:40:44] Hey, swing batter.

[00:40:44] Can we kick them out?

[00:40:45] We can.

[00:40:53] Oh, wow.

[00:40:54] Yep.

[00:40:54] That's kind of how it goes.

[00:40:57] But I'm afraid it won't last long.

[00:40:57] That show sounds good, though.

[00:40:58] It does sound like a fun show.

[00:40:59] They handle it pretty well.

[00:41:00] Baking time, bake something.

[00:41:02] Baking time with Fred.

[00:41:02] I'm just like, why does that make it to air?

[00:41:05] I don't know.

[00:41:06] They would clearly edit that out.

[00:41:07] It's live.

[00:41:08] I just heard in my ear.

[00:41:09] Oh, it's a live show.

[00:41:10] It's a live show.

[00:41:11] That's where they get you.

[00:41:12] They do it live.

[00:41:13] That's the problem right there.

[00:41:15] Liz's got to come up with a new streak.

[00:41:16] Liz Brophy, everybody.

[00:41:18] Liz Brophy.

[00:41:18] Let's take a break until tomorrow.

[00:41:21] Forever.

[00:41:21] No, just until tomorrow.

[00:41:23] Let's take a break forever.

[00:41:23] We're going to sleep on it.

[00:41:24] We're going to come back tomorrow.

[00:41:25] We're going to talk about the five-year Christmas party, everybody.

[00:41:27] Yeah, we are.

[00:41:28] It's going to be a lot of fun.

[00:41:28] Until then, we're the first to wish you a Merry Christmas.
