BRAN'S MOVIE SYNOPSIS
Two years after the Sokovia situation, Thor finds himself captured by a fire demon, who ominously reveals that Odin is no longer in Asgard—and that the realm’s destruction, which he calls Ragnarök, is inevitable. The demon claims it will only occur when his crown is reunited with the Eternal Flame. Thor is like ok cool, then he breaks free, defeats the demon, and takes the crown, convinced he’s just saved Asgard from its fate.
Back home, things are… off. Idris Elba is missing, and “Odin” is acting suspiciously theatrical, literally have plays put on about the story of Thor and Loki and Asgard. Shocker, it’s actually Loki in disguise. Thor forces Loki to come clean, and with help from Doctor Strange, they track down the real Odin in Norway.
There, Odin reveals the truth: he’s dying, and his passing will unleash Hela, his long-hidden firstborn daughter. Once the ruthless leader of Asgard’s armies, Hela was erased from history when her hunger for power became too much—even for Odin.
Odin dies. Hela arrives. And within minutes, she destorys thor's hammer like it’s nothing.
Loki is like UH OH BRING US BACK which opens the portal to get them home. But Hela hops in and knocks them out of the portal into space. She returns to Asgard, quickly conquers it, kills people, and does alot of bad stuff.
Meanwhile, Thor crash-lands on Sakaar—a chaotic junk planet ruled by the eccentric Grandmaster. Captured and enslaved by a scrapper known as 142 (who actually used to be Valkyrie), Thor is forced into gladiator combat… where he comes face-to-face with none other than Hulk. Thor nearly wins using newfound lightning powers, but the Grandmaster rigs the fight, keeping Hulk his champion.
Still in jail, Thor tries to rally Hulk and Valkyrie to help save Asgard, but neither is interested—until a series of events, including a recording from Natasha Romanoff, brings Bruce Banner back. Valkyrie finally agrees to help, and with Loki involved, they steal a ship, spark a gladiator uprising and make their escape.
Back on Asgard, Hela’s forces are closing in on the remaining citizens. It’s not looking good.. Thor shows up to confronts Hela but realizes the truth: she’s too powerful to defeat.
After losing his eye in battle, Thor has a vision of Odin that changes everything—Ragnarök isn’t something to prevent… it’s the only way to stop Hela.
Thor makes sure to fulfill the prophecy—destroying Asgard and killing Hela in the process.
With their home gone but their people alive, Thor—now king—leads the Asgardians aboard a stolen ship, finally reconciling with Loki and setting a course for Earth… only to be interrupted by a massive, looming spacecraft waiting in their path.

[00:01:42] If it's not a loony tune, I'm not wearing it On eBay you can get one for $24.99 Okay So, maybe not This exact one? Yes Oh, okay, well You know what? [00:02:12] Yeah, that NWA Ragnarok collab Well, and all your Natalie Portman stuff is worthless for Ragnarok So Yep Yeah, she doesn't show up here I am looking at my Thor Love and Thunder poster But we're not ready to trade in Natalie Portman for that Just slum it with the actor Cate Blanchett Yeah Who not near the actor Natalie Portman is No No I mean Ragnarok I might be with Ragnarok
[00:02:42] You have lost your Have you guys seen I like Cate Blanchett And Cate Blanchett is great in this movie Go ahead and ask your question She plays the villain Have you seen Tar? No Have you seen The Aviator? No Have you seen I'm Still Here? No The Bob Dylan where she plays Bob Dylan? No, no, no, no, you know I haven't She is one of If, like, she's one of the best living actors Great She plays the villain in this film Okay, so we do you guys just disagree on that? This is crazy Yeah I mean, I think that's the beauty of living She plays the villain here She does play the villain That I know
[00:03:12] Yeah, she does You do know that Yeah, we watched it Yeah And she has a hella good time Ah Yeah Cause that's a character name There's a character's name That's right Store's sister as you recall Now, Ryguy, I haven't gotten a chance to talk to you since last week Actually, you got to go to a little survivor event Oh yeah How was that? A little We don't talk about Rob as a podcast on this podcast because we make it emerge obviously Sure
[00:03:39] But we will for this particular case because you went to an R-Hap show Went to a, I think it was the biggest non-official survivor related survivor watch party ever How was that? Wow Where was it at? Where was it at? It was at Town Hall in New York City It was great Rob has been a friend of mine for 20 years His book just came out Yeah So I was super happy to see such an amazing turnout Pod has spoken Yeah, Pod and I The tribe and I have spoken Available at bookstores everywhere
[00:04:09] And got to chat with Parvati for about 20 or so minutes How's Parv doing? She's doing great A lovely conversation And watching Survivor with that many people was just, I recommend it It was really good Now did you in Parv talk at all about making the merge? Like did you You didn't bring it up 20 minutes He didn't bring it up Well you know like You're at a different podcast recording What did you in Parv talk about for 20 minutes? You primarily talked a lot about Jax, honestly Like she remembered Jax So you will bring up friends
[00:04:38] Yeah Yeah, I brought up Jax a lot That's right, Jax, Jacqueline Collier Yeah Yeah Yeah But we talked about how like Every year at the marathon We do the endurance challenge Jax wanted her to know that she beats me in that a lot Making the merge was on the tip of my tongue And then you know just one thing led to another It's a little bit A little bit of a You know taboo A competing A competing podcast Yeah, I mean that's the other thing Like you know like brand Like I would do anything for you
[00:05:07] Shy of asking Parv or Rob To be on making the merge Yeah Yeah Okay Okay There you go Glad we covered it Glad it sounds like a fun time It was great I wish you guys had been there I mean to be fair Dan to be fair I invited brand You did? Wow He said he had to hang out with his kids Oh my goodness What a guy Yeah, I mean also the Going up there for what Like the just the turnaround and the travel And the money And hopefully you guys are going to be down this way in a few months It's mainly the money
[00:05:36] It's mainly the money Yeah, money is not Yeah, it's a lot of money for that Although it'd be cool But like just for a It'd be tough Tough to Yeah Well I'm glad you had fun Thanks man I had a great time It was a really good episode to watch with a big group of people So Yeah, I will say I really recommend I mean it was basically like watching a sporting event Although I would say People were probably more invested into this minute by minute Than people would be even in a sporting event if that makes sense, you know? So like when really cool things happen No spoilers like with Sari and what have you
[00:06:06] It was very electric Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah All right, we're talking Thor Ragnarok today Can't wait Ready to go You get the rag You get the rock Oh, you get the rock And you gnaw And you gnaw And you gnaw on them both You put them together and you gnaw on them Originally, let's see What's the info on Because I know it released I'm thinking like November 17th-ish of 2017 2017 would be my guess Came out before Black Panther
[00:06:34] Yeah, Black Panther was February 16th of the following year Yeah So you're wrong on the date So it's October 10th at the El Capitan Yeah And then about a month later, November 3rd November 3rd 2017 Election Day I don't It was 2017 is not an election year Every year is an election year If you care Yeah No, if you care Every year is an election year If you look at it the right way Yeah, that's right That's right I'm sorry You should be
[00:07:03] I feel unprepared Well, you should And it went a little something like This Alright, it's two years after the Sokovia situation Thor finds himself captured by a fire demon of swords Who basically reveals that Odin is no longer in Asgard And that the realm's destruction Which he's gonna call just for kicks and giggles Ragnarok Is inevitable It is a prophecy
[00:07:28] The demon claims that it will only occur when his crown is reunited with the eternal flame I wonder if that'll happen I doubt it No, I don't think so Thor's like, okay, cool And then he breaks free Defeats fire demons And takes the crown Convinced that he's just saved Asgard From this prophecy Back home Things are, let's just say, off Idris Elba Missing Odin's acting very theatrical Literally having plays put on
[00:07:58] That tell the story of Thor and Loki Shocker though No, it's actually Loki in disguise It's not Odin at all Thor forces Loki to come clean And with the help of Doctor Strange They track down the real Odin in Norway Because why not? Of course There Odin reveals the truth He's dying And his passing will unfortunately unleash Hela on Earth We're talking about his long-forbidden firstborn daughter Maybe you've heard of her
[00:08:27] She's a ruthless leader And Hela was basically erased from the history books When her hunger for power became too much Even for Mr. Odin As I like to call Yeah, Mr. Odin Mr. Odin Hey, Mr. Odin Mr. Odin Odin dies Hela arrives And within minutes She's destroying Thor's hammer Like it's nothing Uh-oh Loki's like Bring us back
[00:08:57] Which opens up portal to bring them back home But Hela jumps in the portal Knocks them out of the portal Into space She then returns to Adgard Quickly conquers it Killing people, doing a lot of bad stuff Meanwhile, Thor crash lands on Sakaar Which is a planet ruled by the Grandmas Jeff Goldblum Jeff Goldblum I call him Grandmaster Jeff That's what I call him That's fair Mr. Jeff Captured and enslaved by a scrapper
[00:09:27] Known as 142 Who actually used to be Valkyrie Thor is forced into a gladiator combat Where he comes face to face with Maybe you've heard of him The Incredible Hulk Thor almost wins using some new found lightning powers But Jeff Goldblum Rigs the fight Keeps Hulk The champion Bummer That's why you never trust a Grandmaster Never trust a Grandmaster Still in jail Thor tries to get Hulk
[00:09:57] To come back to Bruce Valkyrie To come and help him on Asgard Neither of them are very interested in these two things Until a series of events happens Including a recording from Natasha Brings Bruce back to Bruce And Valkyrie finally agrees to help And with Loki involved They steal a ship They spark a gladiator revolution They make their escape from this planet Back on Asgard Hela is
[00:10:27] Her forces are closing in to destroy Asgard We're gonna just get rid of everything It's not looking good Thor shows up to confront Hela But realizes the truth She's too powerful to defeat Even for mighty Thor And after losing his eye in a battle Thor has himself a bit of a vision Where maybe Ragnarok isn't something to prevent But actually the only way out of this situation
[00:10:56] So Thor makes sure to fulfill the prophecy Destroys Asgard Killing Hela in the process And with their home now gone He grabs all of his people Thor is now the king He leads the Asgardians Aboard a stolen ship They head out And they are heading course for Earth Believe it or not They are interrupted on their way out By a little lumen spacecraft
[00:11:25] And that might be a blast Thor Ragnarok We did it We did do it We're gonna take a break We're gonna come back We're gonna break this movie down I'm gonna propose seven segments Oh I thought for sure it was four man Are you kidding me? This one I think we need just a little bit more time to break down We'll go four We'll go four Here I am Deck the Hallmark Deck the Hallmark We did it
[00:11:56] Here we go Hi, welcome back everybody We're talking about Thor Ragnarok today Very excited about this Very excited Thor 3 For some people Thor 3 Or Thor Ragnarok Let's get to the hot text Thor 3 Tell me a Thor It's where we share our hot text on this movie We do not hold back I will start with you Ryguy The Black Panther fan And tell me what you think about Thor Ragnarok Yeah I love this movie
[00:12:25] I feel like I probably could review it without having even watched it Get out of here Like Mileage varies on this film depending on who you talk to Because Thor does a complete 180 here Taika Waititi changes the game for Thor Which down the line for my beloved Thor Love and Thunder Probably becomes a big issue for most We'll get there when we get there Thor up until this point
[00:12:50] Although there had been slight slight variations in the character Between when we see him and Thor 1 Up until this point He had gotten a little lighter A little looser He goes from Shakespearean to Just prattling bumbling idiot Drax light Yes Like you know That's a really good way to describe him Yeah actually Yeah For me It really works I love this film This film is as I mentioned
[00:13:19] Thor Love and Thunder's downfall Even though I still really like that movie But This movie is a lot of fun And I still think works within the framework of the MCU And the larger story they're going to try to tell I am not here to tell you Whether that's specifically be Dan in a minute Or anyone That it's hard to go Well man we're about to see Thor like have the The wrath and vengeance of a literal God In two movies from now When he's doing like fart jokes Yeah
[00:13:48] If that doesn't work for you I totally get it And I'll be the first to say it's inconsistent But for me Especially as an isolated standalone film Which is tough to do when we're ranking these MCU films I just really like it And I think the movie strikes a good balance And I don't know if the Thor character could have survived If it stayed on the course in which he was Up until this point I would say that most Like most people have this movie ranked higher than halfway You know what I mean
[00:14:18] Even the folks that have it at like top five Would tell you that it's inconsistent I don't think anybody is sitting here going This is consistent with the Thor we've come to Nobody's saying that right I know and I'm not here to argue that point So for me that part works To go big picture just review on the film overall Yeah again super fun I mean do I miss Natalie and Idris? Of course although they didn't necessarily contribute Idris is in this one a bunch as you well know He does come back
[00:14:44] You said in the synopsis he wasn't there I know I didn't mention that they get him Yeah he comes back He's leading all the Asgardians and undercover Yeah I know Make sure that they're all safe I meant I missed him in the first half of the film That's right yeah yeah yeah I apologize sometimes I will say sometimes when writing synopsis I write a thing down that happens and then I forget that that And then I then Right I so I wish she had been there then Natalie Portman not in the film at all Tessa Thompson great
[00:15:13] Oh man she's great And it's just a lot of fun I mean and ultimately not to give anything away This does lead in directly to Infinity War 2 films from now Almost to the point where you think this could have been the film right before It would have made sense if it was Yeah so I love this brand If you don't mind though I'm not going to use my skip I'm just going to use my hold I'd love to rank this film next week if that's okay I'm going to let you and I'm not usually inclined to do that kind of thing
[00:15:43] I think it's bogus But for this particular case I'm going to let you It's such an odd request we'll allow it Thank you I appreciate that You wouldn't ask if you didn't mean it you know what I mean? Yeah but I will say that this is a Out of what we've seen so far it is a upper tier Marvel movie for me And I can't you know what I might watch it again later today Just for the sake of the extra Wow Might do that Yeah I do like this movie It is funny
[00:16:12] It is Thor looks great I mean come on Uphill battle for that guy When he gets a haircut in this movie Haircut Thor My goodness Shirtless haircut Thor Unbelievable So I love You know what though? Old Bruce Banner doesn't look too bad himself though Yeah, well Ruffalo So say what you will about those two fellas But this is what I'll say about this I was quite high on
[00:16:39] If you recall Dan I was quite high on Thor 1 Do you remember this? And one of the reasons why I was high on Thor 1 Is it reminded me a little bit of a homework movie This love story of Thor Natalie Portman That's right Was very appealing to me I really enjoyed it And I missed it desperately in this movie This movie is fun It is a good time It's a rollicking roll I'm not bored while I'm watching this movie But it is hard for me To not just be like
[00:17:07] I want to see those two lovebirds together And I know that's not the point of the Marvel movies But I am who I am I host a show called Deck the Hallmark I want to see the two people fall in love And I just missed it in this movie But I did like this movie It is quite good I have this movie Dano coming in I actually will not put my holes I'm going to go ahead and do it I got this movie sliding in at 12
[00:17:36] Right behind Civil War But right before Guardians 2 That's where I have this movie 12th overall Are you sure you liked it? Out of 17 That's in the bottom third of what we've watched so far No, there's only two Marvel movies that I don't like so far Which is Hulk and Thor You're great on a curve, I get it You mean Thor Dark World Thor 2 Number 2, Thor 3 Thor 3
[00:18:07] 4, Guardians 2 I understand You got it So I, this movie on my original MCU list is 11 And the only reason it's 11 is because I docked it a little I docked it a little for Thor being a completely different character The God of Thunder now doesn't know when he can lean on an object If it will fall or not And I remember being in the movie theater and having a problem with that But having so much fun that it didn't matter I love Taika Waititi Hunt for the Wilder People
[00:18:36] And What We Do in the Shadows Two of my favorite comedy films of all time I tell you all that to say this Upon this watch of this movie I kind of hated it And I'm shocked by that development It's funny Listen, Jeff Goldblum's funny There's nothing we can do about that Jeff Goldblum's funny But this movie has the bones of a movie that would be better if serious And I think that is the thing that in the theater
[00:19:05] I think everyone was so shocked by the tone of the film And it's because Taika Waititi was an unknown commodity This is kind of what this guy does He makes, you know, like a Hitler Rabbit movie That is serious but also funny but also very serious This is kind of his MO, right? But in the theater we kind of know what to expect from a Marvel movie And this was out of the box But I don't think it improves upon the movie In fact, I just didn't care
[00:19:35] I laughed I laughed in this movie I laughed at the Taika Waititi rock character I laughed at Jeff Goldblum I laughed occasionally at Chris Hemsworth's antics I laughed at the cavalcade of guest stars Mainly from Australia and New Zealand That Taika has on his Rolodex But I certainly didn't care And that's sad Because if Asgard blows up While all the Asgardians are on a ship Watching it blow up
[00:20:04] I should really be moved Like you can say what you want About the other two Thor movies Thor The Dark World, a terrible movie Thor 1 I think by and large works In its very Shakespearean kind of way You know, this movie I think it is funny I think the movie would be better If it weren't funny I think it would be about 35 minutes shorter And I think it would have a really good plot With a really good villain And a great Tessa Thompson performance
[00:20:31] And the weight of Odin from beyond the grave Encouraging his son to move beyond a piece of dirt And to take his people somewhere else Kind of an inspiring narrative Instead, we get a lot of fart jokes and pratfalls And Hulk is kind of the new Drax And Thor is kind of Drax-lite And this is like Guardians of the Galaxy We're queuing up Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin Whenever we get the opportunity And it just kind of wears really thin
[00:21:01] And I, guys I'm as surprised as anyone And I didn't watch this with Bran I just, look, I'm not saying I'm not saying that it's I didn't watch it with Bran either Good for you I'm not saying that this is a bad movie I'm just saying that It did not wear well for me And I was, it kind of graded for me The fact that I saw a movie So you watch movies, you don't wear them Yeah, that's true Maybe I tried to put the movie on And that's on me Yeah, I tried to watch my shirt And that was stupid Well, that's
[00:21:30] Well, this makes sense I just, at the end of the day If you're gonna make a movie Where you change the character entirely And it's really funny Then be a really funny Prattfall New Zealand dry humor Fly to the concords type humor And I'm here for it Like, be a zany comedy I'm like, I'm down I'm ready This movie kind of wants to have its cake And eat it too And I found it really annoying And kind of petulant And I didn't like it at all And I only have it one lower than Bran
[00:21:59] I have it at 13 I have it behind Age of Ultron And ahead of the Incredible Hulk Still, I think that Dark World, Guardians 2, Ant-Man, and Incredible Hulk Are still squarely at the bottom of this list But Ragnarok didn't do it for me, man It just didn't I will tell you, I will Once I revoke my hold next week I will have this movie significantly higher than both of you Even if you watch it again with new fresh eyes Well, I will watch it again I will watch it again And I suppose that could change things But yeah
[00:22:29] This was my first viewing of this movie Since, in a decade Since it came out I've seen it at least once out of theaters And still liked it But we'll see what happens here Alright And again, also I watched it for this Yeah Obviously Yeah, well yeah You've seen it once Plus the time you watched it for this So twice, and now we'll do three times Just to be third time for the charm Of course Thrice is nice Thrice is nice Four, three is number, you know Insert here Yeah Let's get to all the feels Right guy, you got anything? I love Korg
[00:22:58] I You know, Korg is funny It's played by director Taika Waititi Korg is great Korg is great Yeah Yeah, Korg is great I mean, once I started revolution But I didn't bring enough pamphlets You know, Korg is great Guys, I don't know Like, Taika, my feels is the movie Hunt for the Wilder People Which if you've not seen Have you seen it? You've seen it Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Like, it's amazing It's super heartfelt, super funny Starring Sam Neill Who shows up as Odin in the play in this movie And also what we do in the shadows In both of those movies
[00:23:28] Taika plays small characters Where he gets to just be funny In Hunt for the Wilder People It's the funniest One of the funniest scenes of all time He's a pastor giving a eulogy At a funeral of a guy he doesn't know And he just, he loses everyone And it's really funny It's really Like, he does Like, this is who this guy is And he's very, very funny in this movie But of those three small parts This is the least funny I'm not joking You should go Well, that's high praise then For the other two Yeah
[00:23:57] You know what's interesting? And like, this is like my feels adjacent As you can probably tell I've already watched Black Panther Yeah, you're jacked And what's interesting Is that this film Almost lets Taika Do more of his Taika stuff Than Black Panther Spoiler alert Is a great film But I feel like Marvel reigns in Coogler More than they reign in Taika here Interesting Which I'm not saying is a good or a bad thing It's just a stray observation
[00:24:26] But they really let Taika Waititi Do whatever he wants with this movie Comedically And maybe it's because That like, Taika Waititi's humor Isn't quite Marvel humor But like, it's close enough Even though it's a little past the edge Yeah Whereas So, I just feel like they It was one of the first examples Where they let a director Do his stuff Without being like Well, you can't do this And you can't do that But maybe that's just because Taika Waititi Wanted to make a lot of Sophisticated fart jokes Yeah Yeah, you know Korg is wonderful
[00:24:57] And I also The Ironically The scene where Doctor Strange is talking to Yeah To him and he And this beer and the whatnot And we had seen it before That's right And it worked again I giggled again Giggled again So, it must be good If I had seen it twice In I believe Two months time Yeah That's pretty good Good stuff That's pretty good So, shout out Shout out Yeah, I did mine
[00:25:26] The Hunt for the Wilder People Really just checked the movie out I saw Sam Neill come on the screen And it reminded me Of just how good that movie is And you should 100% check it out Also, What We Do in the Shadows TV show that he executive produces But he made a movie first With Jermaine Clement That's wonderful So, yeah Great stuff Let's take a break We'll come back We'll get to the Wait What in the What a Marvel Huron Deck the Hallmark
[00:25:57] No, we don't need that No, no, no It's the wrong one Why would you bring that one up here? Go home That doesn't make any sense Doesn't make any sense Hey everybody, welcome I'm sorry That was embarrassing Really, like, just uncouth My buddy Jermaine He got his wires crossed Yeah On a Thursday Oh, it's time for the Wait What? On a Monday On a Monday Yeah, on a Thursday On a Monday That's maybe the problem Yeah, we thought it was Yeah, yeah I mean, that might have been the signal It could have been on me Could have been Alright, it's time for the Wait What?
[00:26:27] So, we're talking about What in this movie is going on I'll start you with the right guy Am I to understand that Odin has been living in a random alley In New York City Eating hot dogs While reality is collapsing? Is that what's happening? I think that we are to believe that Odin is in that nice meadow waiting for death I don't think he sits in the hot dog place, right? No, I think that that was my understanding was that's how they get there That's how he gets to the meadow waiting for death Got it
[00:26:56] The meadow is in Norway Yeah, it's in Norway Not hot dog place Which, that is mine Which is Odin went to Norway And then decided to wear just normal I'm your, I'm your, I'm the adult dad Like clothes I'm over this medal He stopped wearing all the armor And he wears like clothes that my dad would wear Oh, to And an eye patch Yeah, like he does Like, my dad doesn't wear the eye patch obviously But the rest of the clothes are just like I'm on vacation Yeah What do you want from me?
[00:27:25] Yeah, I can't wait to have that be my thing But I'll still wear this Black Panther Well yeah, yeah, yeah You wear that every week, of course I'm ready to do And all that is very funny But, how do none of the Avengers know this is happening? Like, this actually does prove the point of the government in Civil War That like, the Hulk has just become an international gladiator god And Tony Stark and et cetera have no idea Well, yeah, I think that we have a big, like, we spent most of homecoming
[00:27:55] It's problematic if they don't know where he is We spent most of homecoming with Happy and Tony worrying about Peter Parker leaving New York City to go to Washington, D.C. And them knowing the very specific ins and outs of that Until the suit goes offline, obviously Then they know nothing To not know And I will say I guess Marvel is consistent with Planet Earth doesn't know as much as everyone else They're consistent with that But there are Let's call it I mean, I don't know why we're trying not to spoil anything Captain Marvel should
[00:28:25] F'n know She knows everything She's literally tracking the galaxy Like, if you want to tell me that Loki taking over Earth is not big enough to get Captain Marvel's attention I disagree, but I'll give it to you When Asgard falls and the Nine Realms are all at stake for Ragnarok Captain Marvel would know and be on the case, right? It's a problem Yeah, but we don't know her yet, so We don't know her So there's nothing But there's gonna be a movie where she establishes But her backstory is that this is what she's done for 20 years In the 90s She's been Captain Marvel for 27 years
[00:28:55] But Dan, we don't know her But they She's doing us a solid Oh my god Yeah, I mean otherwise there's just no movie That's tough That's tough there And then kind of to that point Last one for me Hela as this film shows us is powerful enough to destroy Mjolnir the hammer Yeah With one hand But Mjolnir Mjolnir
[00:29:25] Right So can't have it both ways But brand for me only Only those three wait once Really good Good stuff Yeah, I do want to bring up Bruce Banner's voice in this I don't know Oh my god When he becomes Bruce Banner again This was the beginning of the end for me in this movie I adore Mark Ruffalo Yeah, I think Edward North would have been a better Hulk Great actor But I love Mark Ruffalo I want it abundantly clear that I adore Mark Ruffalo
[00:29:53] I don't understand his, what he's doing with his voice in this movie And I understand he had been Hulk permanently for a while there Two years So it is possible that Ruffalo made a decision where my voice is going, it's like an octave higher at all times It's an octave higher and also like he's just, the way he speaks is very different
[00:30:19] So it is possible that this is something Ruffalo, he went into the lab and he was like, listen If I wasn't speaking in my voice for two years, it would affect the way that I talk Can I tell you what it was? But for us, the viewers at home, I just kept being like, what is going on with him? You're giving Mark Ruffalo a lot of credit As well, listen, he's earned it You definitely are taking the higher road here My take on this was, when he becomes Bruce Banner again, he's also doing a bit in this movie
[00:30:47] I have seven PhDs, I blah blah blah I can't fly a plane He's a lot quicker He's not the furrowed brow Like, he's just a, like, Taika Waititi changed Thor entirely And he kind of takes Hulk with him And it's weird And the first time I saw it in the movie theater, I remember thinking this is so funny And this time, it was wearing thin very quickly for me And I also, oh sorry
[00:31:15] You giving Ruffalo the credit of making a character change is the best possible answer I'm not willing to grant that But if I'm wrong, I'd be thrilled I also quickly will say that Hulk is never important again to these movies Never! And we have the two pinnacle Avenger movies are coming up And he's like, whether that's Taika Waititi's fault or not is up for debate But he's not critical to either of those films, despite being prominently featured in both of them
[00:31:41] And then I'll just say this, I'm sure that there was some Korg merch out there But I think he's adorable I think he could have been a wonderful plush Or a lot of fun little toys for kids Like Groot I don't hear kids talking about Korg enough The kids love There you go The kids love their baby Groot The kids love their baby Yoda The kids aren't
[00:32:11] Talking enough about how cute Korg is And I think that that's a shame I'd wear that shirt I love Korg Maybe the problem is he's not a baby And we need to do something about that You need to want to make Korg a baby We need to make a baby Korg But that was a thought This guy is too darn lovable To not have the fame when it comes to the kids As Baby Groot does And that's my story
[00:32:42] I'm just going to get to it Thank you for that story Hulk and Captain Marvel not being here My two big ones I have two smaller ones One is the line Odin is dead Saves 40 minutes in this movie Like he talks to the Valkyrie, Tessa Thompson Five times and just keeps going Let me just explain And if he'll just say Odin is dead Three words That's what stops her That's what gets her attention How's that not first?
[00:33:11] How do we not start with that? Like so we can have a fun Fun champion to turn him into champions Like is that I guess why? And then I know that Thor has the power of lightning I don't it's still weird to me that Odin from beyond the grave goes You're called Thor God of Thunder Not God of Hammer Use it and then he uses lightning Like I know like I know that it makes sense because he can control lightning
[00:33:38] But I would love for the God of Thunder in that moment To know that he doesn't need his hammer and use thunder I like I don't know Like I just felt like it did It was not congruent to me Well where does thunder come from? Where it's a great question So thunder is the sound of lightning Thunder is the sound of lightning? Yeah Great So it's always broken up when you talk about like thunder and lightning Yeah yeah yeah So it's the sound of it He's the God of the sound of lightning
[00:34:07] That's not a power That's nothing He should be the God of lightning You don't have to call him names I don't disagree with that Thunder sounds fun Also I did forget to mention There is a brief moment in this movie Where they play a world of pure imagination from Willy Wonka In the movie while Thor is going to this world And it is perfect It's a perfect needle drop And I did need to mention that Let's get to what a marvel That's where we talk about what
[00:34:36] Give us more thoughts for marvel Ragai? Yeah I'm excited for Black Panther next week That's a good what a marvel man I do want to talk about some marvelous tech in this movie And ask how far away are we from At the gladiator realm How far away are we from going back there? We're doing gladiator fights again Or are we done with that? I think we're probably done with gladiator realm That's the tech? No the tech was Beforehand the Grand Master shows up
[00:35:05] Like he's there But they're videotaping him And he's very large Like a hologram But everybody But it's coming down I don't know I think there's something to that I feel like the first tech people That would run with that tech are churches Like mega churches But imagine Sniffing through the screen first Probably that hologram thing first You think before sniffing through the screen That seems insane to me I know I know
[00:35:36] Smellivision is I don't think we would know what to do with it I think we would I don't think we would handle it well It's like Probably It's like knowing about aliens Like that's why the government keeps it from us Because we wouldn't handle it well Smellivision is right there with it Honestly The aliens probably brought that tech to us And we said we can't And that might be another reason to keep the truth To keep the truth Keep the truth
[00:36:06] That's what you learned here That was beautiful, Brent Thank you So mine is I know that we all know that Black Panther comes out after this movie That's the release order of these films Yeah, I can't wait for it But it does seem like this is a direct Like immediate It is Prequel to Avengers Infinity War It certainly feels that way at the end of this movie When the ship shows up I know Because of the fact that I also Happened to watch Black Panther this weekend with my children
[00:36:35] That Black Panther is a standalone film You need to see no other Marvel movies to see Black Panther The parts of Civil War that are important They reshow you in Black Panther You don't need anything else to enjoy Black Panther Or to see it and understand it At the very least So I know that they released that during Black History Month Very, very Like that was a big part of that release Octavia Spencer was buying out theaters in Alabama For fifth grade and up To go to
[00:37:05] It's a great story, right? So was that it? Was it just the fact that we have a Black History Month? I think it was literally just the timing Which no complaint on that But yeah, literally I mean And granted, further movies in the MCU They make it very clear that the movies aren't necessarily Always happening in chronological order Like a film after Infinity War Clearly takes place before Infinity War So we just get used to it Yeah, yeah
[00:37:34] But in this case, this movie literally sets up the first scene Of Infinity War Maybe time is just different, you know? Because this, you know, Black Panther takes place on the On planet Earth Like there's no extra anything there So... Like maybe that's... Maybe it's a time thing Like in Interstellar, you know what I mean? Maybe it's like a days a thousand years situation I'm just behind the bookcase waiting for Black Panther next week Yeah, yeah, yeah You'll be there Can't wait for it We're gonna be doing that next Monday
[00:38:03] And then of course, Regga, you'll be back with us in just a couple days For another episode of The Way Home Chugging right along That always goes well Chugging right along Come on back for that Until then, maybe the first to wish you a Merry Christmas! Oh, you're ready
[00:38:15] Whenever you're ready
[00:38:47] Put the lights on here in the old studio Thanks for listening Or don't listen It's really up to you at this point It's at the end of the show I mean, you're listening to me But here they come I promise they're coming Yep, here they are Happy day!
