[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Trading of Christmas originally aired on the Hallmark mystery channel on December 19th,

[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_02]: 2024.

[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_02]: And it went a little something like this.

[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_02]: The movie kicks off with read along Michelle.

[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_02]: She runs a YouTube channel where she reads books.

[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_02]: She's also a big dreamer and is definitely a glass half full type of person.

[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Her sister Carrie is struggling right now and is going to lose her house come February.

[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Michelle is looking for some ideas to get inspired to help her out when she comes across the story of a kid who traded a rubber band for a house over the course of two years.

[00:05:14] [SPEAKER_02]: She shares this idea with her sister and Carrie is like, I don't have two years.

[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_02]: I have less than two months.

[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_02]: And Michelle is like, I can do it by Christmas.

[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_02]: So no one asked her to do it.

[00:05:28] [SPEAKER_00]: She was like, I just said, your February is easy peasy.

[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes.

[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_00]: And Carrie is like, knock yourself out.

[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Good luck out there, pal.

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Michelle decides to start not with rubber band, but with a Christmas stocking that means a lot to her.

[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_02]: She posted online and signs it as trading up Christmas.

[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_02]: That's the name of the movie.

[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_02]: A struggling journalist named Dan finds out about trading up Christmas and wants to write a article about it because his boss is looking for some good to feel good stories.

[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_02]: So he reaches out, but Michelle is like, I'm not interested in free press.

[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Who can blame him?

[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Why do you want it?

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Why do you want it?

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_02]: We don't.

[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_02]: We hate free press.

[00:06:06] [SPEAKER_02]: We would never do free press.

[00:06:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Never.

[00:06:09] [SPEAKER_02]: No.

[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Stop emailing us.

[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_04]: We're not interested.

[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_02]: So Dan decides to trick her in a meeting by contacting her about a trade, which she accepts.

[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_02]: He pitches the article one more time, but she ain't having it until she is.

[00:06:28] [SPEAKER_02]: She eventually does give into allowing a story to happen as long as their names and likeness can be anonymous.

[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_02]: They begin to work together to trade up.

[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Dan becomes very invested in the story.

[00:06:39] [SPEAKER_02]: They trade.

[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_02]: So she traded the stocking for his sweater, and then she trades sweater for an eggnog tasting certificate.

[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_02]: That eggnog gets traded for a wreath.

[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_02]: That wreath gets traded for an animatronic Santa that's broken, but it's cool.

[00:06:54] [SPEAKER_02]: And then the big one, that's Santa for a snowmobile.

[00:06:58] [SPEAKER_02]: That's a pretty good one.

[00:06:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Snowmobile for a trip to Hawaii.

[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Things are going great, and the sparks are beginning to fly between Michelle and Dan.

[00:07:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Then big trade happens.

[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, here it is.

[00:07:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Bum, bum, bum, bum.

[00:07:11] [SPEAKER_02]: The big trade.

[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Just coming in on the wire.

[00:07:13] [SPEAKER_02]: The trip to Hawaii.

[00:07:14] [SPEAKER_02]: To Hawaii for a mobile home.

[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_02]: That's exactly right.

[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_02]: An RV, which is basically a home.

[00:07:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Basically.

[00:07:20] [SPEAKER_02]: And so you would think I can trade RV for house.

[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Luckily, Dan has a brother, Jack, who is a very successful real estate agent.

[00:07:28] [SPEAKER_02]: So successful real estate that he has his face on benches.

[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_02]: That's how you know.

[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_02]: That's your success.

[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Think anybody sits on it?

[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_00]: No way.

[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_02]: No, never.

[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Never see anybody sit on it.

[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_02]: And he finds a house that may be up for trade, but things start to go wrong.

[00:07:48] [SPEAKER_02]: The house ends up falling through because it turns out seller wants money.

[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_02]: And then Dan's editor decides to publish a story with the names and pictures of Michelle

[00:07:58] [SPEAKER_02]: and her sister, even though Dan promised that they would stay in office.

[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_02]: So she sees that, doesn't buy the fact that the editor went over his head and all that

[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_02]: stuff.

[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Dan and his brother, though, they were in an argument and then they come, they figured

[00:08:14] [SPEAKER_02]: it out.

[00:08:14] [SPEAKER_02]: They find another house and they make the trade happen thanks to their dad, not their dad,

[00:08:21] [SPEAKER_02]: but Michelle and her sister's dad coming in and including the boats that he just purchased

[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_02]: as a part of the deal.

[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_02]: So RV and boat equal house is what we found out.

[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_02]: This surprises Michelle.

[00:08:34] [SPEAKER_02]: She's blown away that this actually happened by Christmas.

[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_02]: And then Dan tells her how he feels.

[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Finally, you think he's a writer.

[00:08:42] [SPEAKER_02]: He'd be able to say that, but he can't.

[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Finally, he does.

[00:08:45] [SPEAKER_02]: And they end up kissing and she gets her stocking back.

[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_02]: And that, my friends, was trading up Christmas.

[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_00]: We did.
