[00:00:02] Hi, I'm Brandon. I love When Calls The Heart.
[00:00:06] Hi, I'm Jax and I like When Calls The Heart.
[00:00:10] I'm Dan and I despise When Calls The Heart and this is the Deck The Hallmark Podcast!
[00:00:33] Wow, hello everybody. Happy Hump Day!
[00:00:37] Happy Easter according to When Calls The Heart.
[00:00:39] Happy Hump Day, Happy Easter and officially, Dan, you can say it this time.
[00:00:44] Hump Day? Happy May.
[00:00:45] Happy May. It's been May for a while.
[00:00:49] It's been May for you for a long time but it is finally actually May.
[00:00:52] Just since Monday. I missed it by two days guys. I wanted it to be May so badly
[00:00:57] and it wasn't. I said it was May on Monday and I was wrong. But it is now today.
[00:01:01] Happy May to you Jax.
[00:01:03] You guys do seem like those kind of guys that would be really into the Justin Timberlake meme
[00:01:07] that's like it's gonna be May. How dare you?
[00:01:10] How dare you? You know that was me just trying to start a fight.
[00:01:13] Yeah, how dare you first of all. I've never shared that in my life. Not once.
[00:01:17] First of all, when I first saw it, I did think it was pretty funny.
[00:01:23] When was that? Ten years ago? Yeah, no, it is funny.
[00:01:26] When you first see it, it is funny. Yeah, because the way he says it.
[00:01:30] Yeah, it's gonna be May. It's like May the 4th be with you.
[00:01:36] No, that's never been. The first time you saw it,
[00:01:39] you weren't like, that's clever. Yeah, at least I give the nod.
[00:01:44] In my head, I just thought how's no one said it before. That's always just been there.
[00:01:50] That's coming up too. Are you a Star Wars fan, Jax?
[00:01:55] I, no. Okay. I pretended for years because I had a boyfriend in high school that liked Star Wars
[00:02:02] and I just didn't care about my own identity. What about you guys?
[00:02:07] I watched the originals growing up a lot. I would not, I don't know anything about the
[00:02:11] expanded universe, but I've seen all the movies that came to the theaters.
[00:02:15] I have realized about myself that I'm not big into like world building movies. Dune doesn't
[00:02:21] do anything for me. Lord of the Rings, whatever. No, I didn't. Couldn't make it through Dune 1.
[00:02:26] And so I shouldn't like Star Wars, but it is kind of the exception to the rule for me.
[00:02:31] There's something about it that just works for me. I don't like freak out about it,
[00:02:37] but when they brought it back, you know, whatever, when did the new trilogy come out?
[00:02:42] What was the first one? Seven years ago.
[00:02:44] Whenever that first one came out and the music kicked, I got goosebumps.
[00:02:49] When I was in the theater, it was the last time I was in a jam packed theater.
[00:02:56] Like one of those, and it was before Greenville got a signed seating. So you had to show up
[00:03:00] early and it was the opening night and the music kicks out. Like it's a great moment.
[00:03:05] I mean, everyone can appreciate John Williams score. I think everybody can appreciate that.
[00:03:10] And you know, Jax, that we're going to be covering all the Star Wars movies on
[00:03:13] Deck the Halls this year with Ryan Pappoll.
[00:03:18] That's right. So that's exciting. You know, I love Ryan.
[00:03:21] Yeah. Who doesn't? Who doesn't? I mean, come on.
[00:03:23] I think this weekend might be the weekend that I watch one of these with my kids.
[00:03:27] Really? I think the problem is, is that
[00:03:31] I mean we may do the Star Wars thing at the trampoline park.
[00:03:33] Yeah. May go do that.
[00:03:34] Well, cause we were, so I told you about big deal about them being eight and that being a
[00:03:39] part of being eight is getting to watch Star Wars. And so if I do it early, I feel like I
[00:03:42] told them that. Yes.
[00:03:44] I was just going to ask you, what is the appropriate age to introduce Star Wars to your kids?
[00:03:48] I grew up in a house where I could go to the theater. We didn't go to the theater
[00:03:51] because it costs a lot of money. We never went. I mean, before I was 10, maybe went
[00:03:54] to the theater five times. I can tell you the movies that I saw in the theaters before
[00:03:58] I was 10 years old. The Star Wars was the exception to that. Like we had all the VHS tapes.
[00:04:04] We watched them all the time at home and some of that stuff was not appropriate.
[00:04:09] Cause it's like, it's such an interesting thing. Cause the violence is so like,
[00:04:13] it's just not, it's fake. There's no like language. It is as clean of a thing that
[00:04:19] you could really hope for. That's also like as a kid, you're like, this is awesome.
[00:04:23] This is amazing. But the new ones are PG 13. The old ones are PG. And so there is that,
[00:04:28] but like, I don't know. I just decided at eight to show my kids to see what they thought.
[00:04:34] I would think that my six year old would have been too young, but then he saw it
[00:04:38] at a restaurant. It was on and he was so pumped and he was like in and he was all
[00:04:42] about it. So I don't know. But when the emperor's face gets all crazy and he does
[00:04:46] the electrocution, is that going to call like, that is the big question for me is
[00:04:50] when we watch return of the Jedi, are my kids going to be up on like there's a chance
[00:04:55] they're going to be up all night? Cause that was etched in my, like when I was six,
[00:04:59] I remembered the emperor's face going nuts as he shocks the, the, you know what, out of,
[00:05:04] out of Luke. I remember that. Am I gonna, is it going to be problematic though? If,
[00:05:09] if I show Grizz and like they say he starts going like, Hey guys, have you seen it? And
[00:05:12] there's like, Hey, he's not a, is that going to be a thing? You do. I know, but typically
[00:05:16] you guys are ahead because your boys are older. That's right. This would have been, this would
[00:05:20] be, I feel like probably the first time that's happened where it's like, Hey, there's, I got
[00:05:24] an eight year old thing. No, the Grizz doing an eight year old thing. Dad. No, no, no.
[00:05:28] You could show it to him. I don't want to cause the cause of rock. Cause I know once your,
[00:05:32] your kids are like mine where it's like, Hey, when they get really wants them,
[00:05:35] they'll just keep asking about it. Hey, Grizz did it. Grizz did the Grizz. I don't want to
[00:05:38] cause an annoyance for you. I'm just looking out. My kid's birthday is under a month. We're
[00:05:44] fine. That's why I'm so excited about that. Come on. It's going to be May. It is what we're
[00:05:48] saying. It is May. Jack, you got any big May plans? I feel like May is kind of like
[00:05:54] right on the edge there of summer. Is it starting to warm up in New York?
[00:05:57] It is actually, it is a lovely day today. It's beautiful. The sun is shining. I'm in
[00:06:03] a little spring dress. Look at you. I'm just, I'm ready to just get out there and just
[00:06:09] get a tan maybe for the first time in my life. First time in your life. You've waited till,
[00:06:13] till this moment. I burn, but I think I'm going to do it this season.
[00:06:17] You're going to go for it anyway. Have you thought about this or did you just say it
[00:06:22] out loud and now you're going to try to make it a reality? So I had a friend who said to me,
[00:06:26] she's like, I just think everyone's looks a little bit better when they're Tanner. And I
[00:06:30] was like, that's fair. So then she said this two days ago, it got in my head.
[00:06:34] So now I'm going to go over by the time I come to Bramble Fest, you're going to be like, wow.
[00:06:39] So there's a lot of ways though, that you could go about getting tan. Like you could,
[00:06:42] you could get like a spray or like go to a tanning bed.
[00:06:46] That seems, the spray seems tricky. I just feel like I'd be streaky.
[00:06:52] Okay. But isn't there like, don't they, haven't they gotten that figured out at this
[00:06:56] point? I mean, they actually, they should have, you know, to be honest,
[00:06:59] I've never looked into it because I've always been okay with being an Irish.
[00:07:02] Both going to go get spray tans for Bramble Fest, right?
[00:07:05] How about we all go get spray tans together?
[00:07:07] You show up and we all go when you get off the plane.
[00:07:10] I would love it. That's the event when I arrive.
[00:07:13] Instead of a dinner at the Chop House, we're going to all go get spray tans.
[00:07:17] Spray tans, spray tans with the thing. Let's talk about the Chop House.
[00:07:22] Yeah, it's either one or the other. It's either one or the other Chop House
[00:07:25] or spray tans. Yes, Erin.
[00:07:27] If we choose not to get a spray tan, can we still go to the Chop House?
[00:07:30] We were, the thing is, is since we added the VIP dinner, we don't do the Chop House anymore.
[00:07:36] So that's the thing is we, we let people come a night early and we all do
[00:07:40] an open bar dinner with them instead of the Chop House.
[00:07:44] We still did it.
[00:07:45] We went, but we couldn't do the Chop House in that amount of time.
[00:07:47] We did that because it's close. We'll probably do something like that.
[00:07:50] Well, we didn't do the, I was thinking just like a nice dinner out.
[00:07:52] Oh yeah, we'll still make that work.
[00:07:53] And spray tans like Brian and I will go get dinner.
[00:07:56] On the Saturday, on the Saturday before the evening, we're going to take the talent out.
[00:08:02] What was really nice about the VIP dinner last year is not only was it great company
[00:08:06] and great food, it was also like we were in a sweat lodge.
[00:08:09] Yeah. So it was like, yeah.
[00:08:11] Like I was healthy.
[00:08:12] You were drinking margaritas, burning calories. It was just a win-win all the way around.
[00:08:19] Yeah, no, we went, you went to dinner last year with us on Saturday at Sobe's,
[00:08:23] which is like a green, red staple.
[00:08:24] That's right. So we'll do something like that.
[00:08:26] And I think it could be a both and maybe we'll go somewhere with a tan.
[00:08:29] What you're saying? You don't want to get a spray tan, Aaron?
[00:08:31] Is that what you're saying?
[00:08:32] Yeah, I love the pale look.
[00:08:35] There's less chance of getting any type of skin cancer, less chance of a burn.
[00:08:40] Jax, I think if you don't want a tan,
[00:08:42] you look beautiful and you could just embrace your pale skin.
[00:08:45] Yeah.
[00:08:46] No, honestly, Aaron, you convinced me.
[00:08:47] Wow.
[00:08:48] That was such a short live.
[00:08:50] It didn't seem like it was going to be tough.
[00:08:52] I'm an Irish Rose, you're an Irish Rose.
[00:08:53] We'll just hang out at Brand professors with our pale skin
[00:08:55] and laugh at how streaky Dan and Brand look.
[00:08:57] I was only getting a spray tan to support Jax.
[00:08:59] I'm not going if Jax isn't going.
[00:09:01] It's the only reason I was going to get one.
[00:09:02] Actually, you know what? I'm going to do it.
[00:09:04] I don't need you all to join me.
[00:09:05] That's right.
[00:09:06] I'm going to look awesome.
[00:09:07] Yeah.
[00:09:07] They're going to look at that guy and be like, who's that?
[00:09:09] Is that Arnold? And I'm going to be like, no, it's just Brand.
[00:09:11] It's just a Brian.
[00:09:13] No.
[00:09:14] Rick?
[00:09:18] Who?
[00:09:18] Rick.
[00:09:19] I'm just, oh, hello there.
[00:09:22] Rick, how's my two days in a row?
[00:09:25] I know you do.
[00:09:25] It was my ticket.
[00:09:27] You do a really good.
[00:09:28] I do an amazing Arnold.
[00:09:29] How was I? Did you hear mine?
[00:09:30] Yeah, I heard it.
[00:09:31] How dog trash.
[00:09:34] What's the key to keep the trash?
[00:09:36] What's the key to doing a good Arnold?
[00:09:37] You got to it's at the back of the throat.
[00:09:40] Can you teach me?
[00:09:40] Oh, see, can you do that?
[00:09:44] One more.
[00:09:45] Oh, okay.
[00:09:47] And then you got to go.
[00:09:48] Ah, ah, ah, ah.
[00:09:51] No, you're getting off track there.
[00:09:53] Ah, ah, ah, ah.
[00:09:58] Okay. Everybody stop listening.
[00:10:00] Here we go.
[00:10:02] Get to the chopper.
[00:10:05] Get to the chopper.
[00:10:07] You're useless.
[00:10:09] All right.
[00:10:10] What calls the heart?
[00:10:11] Season 11 episode four.
[00:10:12] What's it called?
[00:10:13] Jack's is still here.
[00:10:14] This is unbelievable.
[00:10:18] Along came a spider.
[00:10:20] I never, I never figured it out.
[00:10:22] It's the woman that showed up from Louisiana.
[00:10:25] Is that what Jeanette?
[00:10:26] Yes.
[00:10:26] That's the spider.
[00:10:27] I remember that.
[00:10:28] I remembered the title too because I just thought
[00:10:31] there's no way this episode is going to be as interesting as the title.
[00:10:36] And I was correct.
[00:10:37] Also, that's a pretty fun Morgan Freeman movie if you've not seen it.
[00:10:40] Yeah, it's excellent.
[00:10:41] It's really fun.
[00:10:43] April 28th, 2024 is when the premier went a little something like this.
[00:10:46] It is time for the governor's Easter address.
[00:10:50] And the gang is all invited to come.
[00:10:53] Hope Valley is going to be there.
[00:10:54] Everyone thinks that it's as dumb as we think it is,
[00:10:56] that he's doing an Easter address.
[00:10:58] And so that's encouraging.
[00:11:00] A lot of the announcement involved Hope Valley,
[00:11:03] which I'm sure will not be any sort of problem for anybody outside of Hope Valley.
[00:11:07] I'm sure they're going to hear about all the things Hope Valley is getting
[00:11:09] and be like thumbs up.
[00:11:11] He's going to do an Easter egg hunt and Elizabeth is going to help with this.
[00:11:15] Afterwards, she and Nathan walk and they flirt and they have a good time.
[00:11:22] I don't like saying the word flirt.
[00:11:23] It makes me feel.
[00:11:25] Does it sound weird coming?
[00:11:26] Yeah, it did sound like you put a little extra emphasis on it.
[00:11:29] I didn't like it.
[00:11:30] I think you just are trying to figure out how to say it and be normal.
[00:11:34] Yeah, that's the problem.
[00:11:34] I'm under my head about the word flirt.
[00:11:36] With less of an emphasis, you just go and they flirt and they have a good time.
[00:11:39] You don't add anything.
[00:11:41] Don't put any sauce on it.
[00:11:42] When you say it, you didn't.
[00:11:43] They flirt.
[00:11:43] They have a good time.
[00:11:44] You don't think it's a weird word?
[00:11:46] Not until this very moment.
[00:11:47] It's a little bit of a weird word.
[00:11:49] Jax, is it a weird word?
[00:11:51] I'm going to be very honest.
[00:11:53] It only sounds weird coming out of your mouth.
[00:11:54] Doesn't it?
[00:11:56] It does sound weird.
[00:11:57] And that's coming from Jack and Colleen.
[00:11:58] But I'm glad that you're self-aware enough to know that there's something.
[00:12:02] They walk and they flirt.
[00:12:04] All right, let me try one more time and I'm not going to put any extra stank on it.
[00:12:08] Afterwards, she and Nathan walk and flirt together.
[00:12:12] It's better.
[00:12:12] That was better?
[00:12:13] That worked for me.
[00:12:14] It sounded like you tried to rush through it.
[00:12:16] Yeah, I did.
[00:12:16] Okay.
[00:12:17] Afterwards, she and Nathan walk and they flirt.
[00:12:24] We'll get there.
[00:12:25] Take five is going to be amazing.
[00:12:26] Get to the chopper.
[00:12:27] Elizabeth is having the kids paint eggs and it turns out that it is through this process
[00:12:33] that Toby learns that he can do math.
[00:12:36] For those of you that are wondering, I wonder what Toby's up to this week.
[00:12:41] Bill is looking over the case file and everything is checking out except that there are only
[00:12:48] fingerprints on the handle of the gun.
[00:12:51] Nowhere else.
[00:12:51] Bill and Rosemary both talk about how weird it is that there's no fingerprints anywhere
[00:12:55] else on the gun, almost as if they were put there to make it look like it was him.
[00:13:00] So in conclusion, Bill and Rosemary have come to the conclusion that,
[00:13:06] and stop me if you've heard this before,
[00:13:08] Pike is taking the fall for someone else.
[00:13:12] Totally new information that hasn't been covered in the previous three.
[00:13:15] Bill spots somebody driving into town and they park and it is a woman.
[00:13:22] We've not met her before.
[00:13:23] I met her.
[00:13:24] She claims to be an old friend of Lucas's.
[00:13:27] It's Jeanette from Nolans.
[00:13:29] You can call her Spider.
[00:13:31] We all remember the story Jeanette and what her story is in relation to Lucas.
[00:13:38] I will kick it to Jack so Jack, Jack explain the history of Jeanette and why she matters.
[00:13:44] She is to the pantheon of when calls the heart.
[00:13:47] Right, right, right.
[00:13:48] Okay so she's the old widow that somehow helped out with a contact that she had when
[00:13:53] Elizabeth was in trouble with something.
[00:13:57] Excellent job.
[00:13:57] Good enough for me.
[00:14:01] So Lucas shows up and is shocked to see her there.
[00:14:07] Also she says that she wants to bid on the land.
[00:14:12] She wants to be the ones that do it, do the land and is going to be sticking around
[00:14:19] for a little bit.
[00:14:20] Apparently Frickham's sister is the mayor of Benson Hill.
[00:14:23] It's never come up before but they need to all meet so they can talk about kind of when
[00:14:30] the resort is happening how are they going to split that area that technically belongs
[00:14:33] to Benson Hill.
[00:14:35] So Lucas spends the episode trying to make sure that Elizabeth doesn't know about Jeanette
[00:14:42] and also just kind of seeming very shady.
[00:14:45] And it's good to be back to the times when Lucas was shady.
[00:14:48] We haven't been there in a while.
[00:14:49] He's actually been there the whole time.
[00:14:50] I don't know if you, I was on a Team Nathan subreddit the other night.
[00:14:53] It is, he's been bad from day one.
[00:14:56] There's a subreddit that's just Team Nathan?
[00:14:57] That's a team, yeah you got to have a code to get in.
[00:14:59] The code is be safe and I didn't say that to you or anyone but that's what
[00:15:03] the code is.
[00:15:04] And they all agree.
[00:15:06] No way.
[00:15:06] You're Lucas Bouchard has-
[00:15:08] You're not telling the truth right?
[00:15:08] You're doing a bit.
[00:15:09] Lucas Bouchard has been bad since day one.
[00:15:11] You're doing a bit though.
[00:15:13] He probably is a murderer.
[00:15:14] You're doing a bit though that there's a subreddit?
[00:15:17] I don't know Brian.
[00:15:20] Code word be safe.
[00:15:24] May and Frickham finally kiss.
[00:15:29] Cut to Jacks.
[00:15:33] Yeah she's bumped.
[00:15:35] She-
[00:15:36] No.
[00:15:36] No.
[00:15:37] He tries to get Jeanette, Lucas tries to get Jeanette to leave and insists that he's
[00:15:42] not a bad guy anymore.
[00:15:43] I've left that behind.
[00:15:45] But before she leaves she does bump into Elizabeth.
[00:15:49] They meet and it's awkward.
[00:15:53] Nathan comes over that night knock, knock, knock.
[00:15:55] It's nighttime whatever could he want but to talk and to give her an egg.
[00:16:02] The egg is from earlier in the episode.
[00:16:05] She was trying to get this egg, put it up high, fell off a bucket.
[00:16:09] He caught her a whole moment.
[00:16:12] He then brings this egg and is like hey you risked your life for this egg.
[00:16:16] At least I can do is give it back to you.
[00:16:18] They have a little moment.
[00:16:19] But they are interrupted by baby Jack saying stuff.
[00:16:26] And Lucas is looking at papers and sees a picture, an old picture of him and Jeanette.
[00:16:30] And that my friends was When Calls the Heart season 11 episode 4,
[00:16:34] Concave of Spider.
[00:16:37] We did it.
[00:16:38] Let's take a quick break.
[00:16:39] We'll come back and we will break this episode down here on
[00:16:42] Jack the Hallmark.
[00:16:53] Well come back everybody.
[00:16:55] It is When Calls the Heart season 11 episode 4.
[00:16:58] Recapping it, breaking it down.
[00:17:01] Let's do that with the hot take part of the show where we share exactly how
[00:17:05] we felt about this episode and I'm going to kick it over to my friend Jack's.
[00:17:08] Jacks, what did you think of episode 11?
[00:17:13] Okay, I enjoyed this one.
[00:17:15] I thought baby hot take.
[00:17:17] Okay, here we go.
[00:17:19] I'm ready for the spin cycle.
[00:17:21] We're about to go in here.
[00:17:22] Oh my gosh.
[00:17:24] Okay, okay.
[00:17:25] I'd love to hear this.
[00:17:27] Baby Jack, this is the best we've seen him.
[00:17:31] And yes, this is one of my my feels.
[00:17:34] But when he was like, oh, but it's like you're everybody's mommy at school.
[00:17:39] I was like this kid is fire in all cylinders.
[00:17:43] He's a great actor.
[00:17:44] What's that baby Jack?
[00:17:46] I thought maybe Jack either.
[00:17:49] Love your baby girl.
[00:17:51] What's up?
[00:17:53] Baby Jack, would it come to your surprise that I had a different opinion of baby
[00:17:57] Jack in this episode?
[00:17:58] I mean you monster.
[00:18:00] You monster.
[00:18:01] You're the monster inside of my head and right next to me.
[00:18:05] Eminem shout out new album.
[00:18:07] That's a slim shady.
[00:18:08] That's right.
[00:18:09] Slim shades.
[00:18:09] Exactly right.
[00:18:11] It's so good to see you baby Jack.
[00:18:12] I thought you were excellent in this episode.
[00:18:15] Thank you.
[00:18:16] Overall, this is an episode that especially team Nathan has been waiting for because
[00:18:22] Kevin McGarry gave us the Easter egg that the Easter egg of the season was.
[00:18:28] In fact, Easter egg.
[00:18:31] He is very clever like that.
[00:18:33] Yeah, code word be safe there.
[00:18:37] And we're seeing that this Easter egg symbolizes their relationship.
[00:18:42] I'm not sure that the metaphor kind of gets a little bit lost here and there
[00:18:45] when she's like, well, the chocolate egg isn't really worth it.
[00:18:48] And then she's like, yes, it is.
[00:18:49] And I'm like, it reminded me of when Harry met Sally when, um, Sally Harry.
[00:18:53] Am I the, well actually, you know what I'm saying?
[00:18:56] How am I the dog?
[00:18:57] Am I the dog?
[00:18:59] Who's the chocolate egg?
[00:19:00] What's happening?
[00:19:01] But there is quite a bit of chemistry between Elizabeth and Nathan.
[00:19:04] This episode, I'm here for it.
[00:19:06] You know, I'm here for a May and Hickam kiss and it wasn't just one kiss.
[00:19:11] It was a double pump kiss, which I enjoyed.
[00:19:15] Double pump.
[00:19:16] Overall, I thought this episode was a good one.
[00:19:19] Although I am confused about the fact that we lined up the eclipse
[00:19:22] and the planets aligning, but Easter, we were just like, forget about it.
[00:19:26] That's right.
[00:19:26] Yeah.
[00:19:26] Thank you.
[00:19:27] Thank you.
[00:19:32] This episode is fine.
[00:19:34] Ultimately, I'm starting to feel like maybe we might get what I'm asking for this movie.
[00:19:42] It is clear that there's no way in the world that Nathan and I'm saying this and
[00:19:50] I'm crossing my fingers too because when calls are, you can always find a way to surprise me.
[00:19:54] But there's no way we get to the end of this season without Nathan and Elizabeth kissing.
[00:20:00] There's just no way.
[00:20:02] There's no way there.
[00:20:04] If you say it one more time, it's like Beetlejuice.
[00:20:06] I'm pretty sure that it will happen.
[00:20:07] They won't.
[00:20:08] There's no way.
[00:20:09] When he caught her, when he not, when she opened up the door and it was him
[00:20:13] that was knocking at the door, guys, just let's do this thing.
[00:20:17] Stop acting as if there's a chance that she's going to somehow end up back up with
[00:20:23] Lucas.
[00:20:24] Even in this episode, when the whole thing happened with the spider,
[00:20:29] she didn't even seem like she cared.
[00:20:31] It's like whatever.
[00:20:32] That was so four months ago.
[00:20:34] And so I'm just like let's do the thing.
[00:20:38] Stop.
[00:20:39] Stop acting as if there's even a chance that they're not going to end up together.
[00:20:43] Next episode, let's kiss.
[00:20:45] Let's get there.
[00:20:47] Let's do this thing.
[00:20:48] We're still on a possible train, possible wagon for them to kiss next episode,
[00:20:55] be married by the end of the season.
[00:20:56] Let's do this thing.
[00:20:57] Let's not mess around.
[00:20:58] I know it might not be, but let's just do this thing.
[00:21:01] Let's do this thing.
[00:21:03] Let's make it happen because there's no reason not to.
[00:21:07] The sparks in four episodes are so, so heavy with these two when they're on screen.
[00:21:14] It is nuts.
[00:21:15] We do not need to do another full season and at the season finale, it's like, oh my gosh,
[00:21:21] they can't send me anything.
[00:21:23] Let's do it.
[00:21:24] Kiss next episode, married by the end of the season.
[00:21:27] Let's make it happen.
[00:21:28] Let's make it happen.
[00:21:29] I'm not surprised by Jax.
[00:21:33] I'm shocked that you were fine.
[00:21:35] Like this is like frog in boiling water territory.
[00:21:38] They just have turned the water up a little bit at a time.
[00:21:41] This is easily the worst episode of this season.
[00:21:46] Worst than the first one?
[00:21:47] Yes.
[00:21:47] And I'll tell you why it's worse than the first one because the first one
[00:21:51] moves a plot forward and promises intrigue.
[00:21:54] The best case scenario for this show, and I think we all agree here,
[00:21:58] is that Bill and Rosemary are solving a murder for half of the episode.
[00:22:03] That's what we want.
[00:22:04] And in this episode, you get one scene of that where thanks to your synopsis,
[00:22:09] they establish something we've already established for three straight episodes.
[00:22:14] I wrote down even baby Jack is annoying in this episode.
[00:22:19] I there nothing guys, I know they don't win cause the heart.
[00:22:23] Nothing happens.
[00:22:25] But that's not really true.
[00:22:26] We say nothing happens because we're bored, but things happen.
[00:22:29] They just move at a snail's pace.
[00:22:31] In this episode, when it comes to any of the three major
[00:22:35] plates that we're spinning that we've talked about resort murder mystery.
[00:22:41] And then what was the third one?
[00:22:42] Nathan and Elizabeth.
[00:22:42] Is that the third one that we decided on?
[00:22:45] I guess something happens with Nathan Elizabeth with that scene at the end, I guess.
[00:22:50] This is a classic where wind calls the heart.
[00:22:52] We know nothing happens in a season, but we're in episode four of 12.
[00:22:56] We're going to sprinkle in a little extra bit of nothing here.
[00:23:01] This was brutal.
[00:23:02] It's literally an Easter episode a month late.
[00:23:04] It's an Easter episode a month after Easter.
[00:23:08] I just, amen.
[00:23:11] He's risen indeed.
[00:23:11] I just couldn't believe this episode least favorite of the season.
[00:23:17] After the best episode of the season last week, least favorite of the season this week.
[00:23:21] So you are saying that you like last week's.
[00:23:24] If that is one way to take it.
[00:23:29] Let's get to the feels where we talk about.
[00:23:33] If I was Jack says how I would have said it.
[00:23:34] Last week's episode was my absolute favorite of this season.
[00:23:39] Let's get to all the fields.
[00:23:41] We were talking about what in this episode gave us feels.
[00:23:42] Jack's.
[00:23:43] Well, I think we can all agree.
[00:23:45] I've got sexy feels for Jeanette.
[00:23:47] Boy, howdy.
[00:23:49] I like her.
[00:23:49] She's sashaying into town.
[00:23:52] There's too much wholesomeness in Hope Valley.
[00:23:54] I need a little darkness.
[00:23:56] I need a little intrigue.
[00:23:57] I need a little bit of villain energy and she is bringing it and I am loving it.
[00:24:02] Can't wait to see more of her.
[00:24:04] I got baby Jack feels as I noted before.
[00:24:16] I love you too, baby Jack.
[00:24:21] Happy Easter, baby Jack monthly.
[00:24:23] I also am nervous for the can fields writing this letter to their uncle.
[00:24:33] I am afraid this is going to go really poorly and here's the thing with this.
[00:24:38] Yeah, I didn't mention it.
[00:24:39] I'm sorry about it.
[00:24:40] You didn't even make the synopsis.
[00:24:42] I have nervous feels because I know this won't happen because it's when calls the heart
[00:24:46] and it's going to be all lovely and joyful and they'll reconnect and it'll be beautiful.
[00:24:52] But there are some people that are better off not in your life and maybe
[00:24:57] they've drawn a boundary for a reason and I want to respect that and these kids are
[00:25:01] writing this letter and it's making me nervous that it's going to go awry.
[00:25:05] And finally, my final feel.
[00:25:09] You guys, Lily in her little bunny ears.
[00:25:14] Isn't she the cutest little gosh darn thing with baby Jack?
[00:25:17] Is that Rosemary and Lee's kid?
[00:25:19] No, that's Goldie.
[00:25:20] That's Faith's new kid.
[00:25:22] Lily, Goldie, Jackie, they're all these.
[00:25:25] She calls her Auntie Faith and she's the cutest thing ever and I just love her to bits.
[00:25:29] Great.
[00:25:29] Um, I would like to read from a Facebook group.
[00:25:35] Nothing mean, but I appreciate the intrigue here.
[00:25:41] Diane says after earlier seasons when Lucas seemed to have a questionable past,
[00:25:46] we were told by the writers that Lucas was a good guy now
[00:25:49] that he's being portrayed as having been maybe a shyster in the past.
[00:25:55] A shyster.
[00:25:56] Okay.
[00:25:57] But is he a changed man?
[00:25:58] So which is it?
[00:25:59] I'm not sure.
[00:26:01] And then Maggie says, I believe that Lindsay Sturman watched a show from the beginning
[00:26:05] and saw why so many of us believed that Lucas was shady.
[00:26:10] Why we weren't satisfied just being told that he was good without a story backing it up.
[00:26:14] It is for that reason that I have never been a fan of his character
[00:26:17] and I've always felt like there was something that we weren't being told.
[00:26:21] I'm just telling you, Team Nathan's subreddit, they get it, man.
[00:26:24] An excellent point.
[00:26:26] They understand how serious this is.
[00:26:28] And Dan, you and I have talked about this in the past.
[00:26:30] The fish.
[00:26:31] The fish.
[00:26:32] What's going on with the fish?
[00:26:33] The fish.
[00:26:35] Maybe say more.
[00:26:36] The fact that we are finally maybe getting some closure or an opening back up, I don't know,
[00:26:44] of Lucas being a shady character.
[00:26:48] If we get a full turn and Lucas ends up that he's still shady
[00:26:55] or gets pulled back into the shady business, Dan, you and I were talking about during the show.
[00:27:00] Give me give me bad Lucas.
[00:27:02] Give me Chris McNally as a villain.
[00:27:04] Let's do some weird stuff.
[00:27:06] Maybe not buddy, not buddy.
[00:27:08] Maybe he's pulled back in.
[00:27:10] Maybe maybe he never really was.
[00:27:12] What you're describing is a better television show.
[00:27:14] Let's do something crazy here.
[00:27:16] Let's get wild.
[00:27:17] And also one more thing that did give me feels is I
[00:27:22] I genuinely did giggle a little bit when Faith thought that she could participate
[00:27:26] in the Easter egg hunt.
[00:27:27] It was very funny and I thought it was funny.
[00:27:29] I'm happy you thought it was funny.
[00:27:30] It was funny.
[00:27:31] That would be me.
[00:27:32] I'd show to an Easter egg hunt and be like, let's go.
[00:27:36] So the one thing that is that is feels
[00:27:40] Let her compete.
[00:27:40] Let Faith compete.
[00:27:42] Let Faith compete.
[00:27:45] Nobody cares enough about that storyline to chant anything.
[00:27:50] Aaron, let Faith compete.
[00:27:52] Faith compete.
[00:27:53] Let Faith compete.
[00:27:55] Yeah, thanks.
[00:27:56] All right.
[00:27:56] Whatever you say.
[00:27:57] You're the monster here.
[00:27:58] That's right.
[00:27:59] I love the idea of making Lucas look shady only to pull out the rug when Nathan is the
[00:28:05] shooter.
[00:28:06] That that's good television.
[00:28:09] Yeah.
[00:28:10] When they met, they bring back the possibility of this guy being shady.
[00:28:14] And then when we find out that Nathan is a hired gun to shoot Lucas, it's going to
[00:28:22] get real.
[00:28:22] And maybe Elizabeth will end up with the person that's best for her mental health.
[00:28:26] No one.
[00:28:28] Maybe maybe when she realizes that Nathan has attempted murder on her former fiance,
[00:28:34] then not only will I be a huge fan of the television show, but also she will end up
[00:28:40] without needing another person.
[00:28:43] I think that's a win-win for her.
[00:28:44] Well, I think we could all agree best case scenario, Nathan shot Lucas.
[00:28:48] If Nathan shot Lucas, if listen,
[00:28:50] That'd be the best thing that could ever happen to this show.
[00:28:52] If Nathan shot Lucas and Faith and Fiona are a thing, Lindsay Sturman is the showrunner
[00:29:00] of the year.
[00:29:02] The showrunner of the year on television.
[00:29:06] Would be phenomenal.
[00:29:07] Broadcast anything.
[00:29:09] Nathan shoots Lucas, Faith and Fiona are a thing that this would, it would be
[00:29:15] everything I could possibly want.
[00:29:16] And then I would get on the subreddits.
[00:29:18] I would get on the subreddits with a big bowl of popcorn and just laugh.
[00:29:25] It would be great.
[00:29:25] Phenomenal.
[00:29:26] That'd be phenomenal.
[00:29:28] Because then maybe they make the dog mayor or something.
[00:29:30] Scout.
[00:29:31] I don't know.
[00:29:31] Bill is acting mayor while Abigail is gone.
[00:29:40] She paid him $300,000.
[00:29:43] We'll be right back there.
[00:29:53] She's done about as much mayor work as her daughter did rowing.
[00:29:58] I think it's right.
[00:30:00] You went to a quick break to make that joke go away.
[00:30:03] Nope.
[00:30:03] You piled on.
[00:30:04] I love it.
[00:30:06] Jax, any nothing.
[00:30:08] Actually I'm impressed because I thought he went to a quick break to make it go away as you noted.
[00:30:12] But then when he came back with that, I was like, oh, you were just,
[00:30:14] That's right.
[00:30:14] It was a good setup.
[00:30:15] Nicely done.
[00:30:16] It's time for the wait.
[00:30:18] What is what we talk about wanting this episode made us go wait, what Jax?
[00:30:23] Two big things.
[00:30:24] I thought Elizabeth was very charming in this episode mostly,
[00:30:28] but there are two instances of her being so controlling that it was actually maddening
[00:30:33] to me when she's telling Lucas that what's his face, who's our favorite character can't wear
[00:30:40] the bunny suit and she's like, I want smaller chocolate bunnies.
[00:30:43] And then she's telling Nathan not to hide the egg high up in the air.
[00:30:46] I'm like, girl, you got to chill.
[00:30:48] You can't control every single gosh darn thing in Hope Valley.
[00:30:53] You're seeming type a and like really, really it's too much.
[00:31:00] It's too much.
[00:31:01] Other than that, I really enjoy Elizabeth in this episode.
[00:31:03] I was very charmed by her with the kids, with baby Jack, but that was too much for me.
[00:31:09] I was like, girl, you got to back off.
[00:31:10] And then she also complains about Lucas doing something else, like something else.
[00:31:15] What did she complain about?
[00:31:16] She said it was too much.
[00:31:18] Yeah.
[00:31:19] The Easter speech and everybody was complaining about it.
[00:31:24] Yeah.
[00:31:24] I ranted last week on her and everything you said is exactly right.
[00:31:29] It's just none of your business.
[00:31:30] And I would say she's not being type A.
[00:31:32] She's actually type B because that's what she's being right now.
[00:31:37] She's being a type A type AB rare type.
[00:31:42] I would not disagree.
[00:31:43] It's really, it's actually hard to, I'm like, girl, you've got to calm down.
[00:31:47] These are nice gentlemen and they're only trying to make it fun for the kids.
[00:31:52] Like, what are we doing?
[00:31:54] And then the other thing, which you both alluded to already, but I actually thought
[00:31:58] was really funny was Hickam, the line he has about his sisters and like,
[00:32:03] oh, no one's paying attention to me a poker.
[00:32:05] But then when he's in the room with his sister and she's offering all these reasons why
[00:32:12] actually this might not work.
[00:32:13] And these three men are acting like she is ridiculous.
[00:32:18] And I'm like, guys, like you're kind of being type B.
[00:32:22] Yes.
[00:32:23] No, no, no.
[00:32:23] I did have that written down.
[00:32:25] This woman who is the mayor of a town does more in that scene as mayor than any of the
[00:32:30] Hope Valley mayors ever.
[00:32:32] She goes in, negotiates for the best possible deal for her town and doesn't care if it
[00:32:38] was a clerical error or not.
[00:32:40] Like she's great.
[00:32:41] She's strong.
[00:32:42] She's a good leader.
[00:32:43] She communicates well.
[00:32:45] These three dudes don't know what to do with her.
[00:32:47] They're wrong.
[00:32:47] She's right.
[00:32:49] Go Hickam sister.
[00:32:51] Yep.
[00:32:52] And I know that like her personality is like a bit salty and like that's kind of fun,
[00:32:56] but she's actually not doing anything outrageous in the scene.
[00:33:01] Yeah, you're right.
[00:33:02] Yeah, not even a little bit.
[00:33:03] You're right.
[00:33:03] Not even a little bit.
[00:33:05] I have a few.
[00:33:06] One, we've talked about how crazy it is that Easter was a month ago and this is
[00:33:11] the episode we're getting.
[00:33:13] But I do want to point out that he is having an Easter address on a weekday morning.
[00:33:18] We know it's a weekday morning because school is a school day.
[00:33:22] Easter notoriously.
[00:33:23] It is one of the...
[00:33:25] Notoriously.
[00:33:25] We don't know the date always.
[00:33:26] It just floats around.
[00:33:27] But it notoriously does fall on a weekend.
[00:33:30] On a Sunday, yeah.
[00:33:31] Even on a Sunday you would think.
[00:33:31] But the Easter address, that would be like the queen giving Christmas speech on
[00:33:37] the 18th of December.
[00:33:38] That's right.
[00:33:38] That's exactly what it would be.
[00:33:38] We'll do it on the 18th because everyone's busy.
[00:33:41] Everyone's busy on Christmas.
[00:33:42] We'll do it Tuesday morning.
[00:33:43] Why do the Christmas speech on Christmas?
[00:33:46] Why do the Easter address on Easter?
[00:33:49] Because it's in the name.
[00:33:52] You can't...
[00:33:53] Lucas, if you want to bring the resort to Hope Valley and maybe get some pushback from
[00:33:59] people that you're playing favorites, okay, that's your choice.
[00:34:01] At least it's going to bring economic success to the town of which you love.
[00:34:06] But you've got to spread the wealth here.
[00:34:08] The Easter egg hunt, you've got to do it somewhere else.
[00:34:11] At this point, you have really made Hope Valley the favorite here.
[00:34:15] And the Easter egg hunt, it doesn't matter.
[00:34:17] You can do that anywhere.
[00:34:19] And he still chose...
[00:34:20] This is the second thing in his...
[00:34:23] I don't know how long he's been mayor at this point, but the second thing in a row
[00:34:26] that he's only doing for Hope Valley.
[00:34:28] You can't keep doing that.
[00:34:29] It would be like if George W. Bush was like, everything is in Texas all the time.
[00:34:33] Or like Barack Obama was like, all of my speeches will be in Chicago.
[00:34:36] Yes.
[00:34:36] Or if Donald Trump was like, I'm going to give tax cuts to just rich people.
[00:34:42] It would be like, well, if any of those things were to happen.
[00:34:44] So Lucas also, when he sees Jeanette comes in and is like, wow, this is crazy.
[00:34:54] And Jeanette says, you used to love surprises.
[00:34:57] And Lucas says, yeah, but only when I was the one doing the surprises.
[00:35:01] That's not fair.
[00:35:02] That's not fair, sir.
[00:35:04] You can't...
[00:35:04] Don't dish it out if you can't take it, Mr. Man.
[00:35:08] Lucas is a bit of a Willy Wonka in this episode.
[00:35:10] And let me explain.
[00:35:11] He's walking around with a crutch.
[00:35:13] He's handing out chocolate and he's just kind of being weirdly suspicious.
[00:35:17] And when anyone questions him about it, he's like, good day, sir.
[00:35:21] He is Willy Wonka and I'm convinced and I support that turn from him.
[00:35:27] I think that's fun.
[00:35:28] Last but not least, it's just good to see that baby Jack is still in the business
[00:35:31] of interrupting big moments.
[00:35:33] It has been a while since we heard mama from the back room.
[00:35:37] It's just good to know he's still doing that.
[00:35:39] Even though can he talk in full sentences?
[00:35:41] Can he walk?
[00:35:42] Can he come and get her?
[00:35:43] Yeah, I can.
[00:35:44] But from the other room, he's still just yelling mama.
[00:35:46] And that's nice.
[00:35:47] It's been a while.
[00:35:47] Dano?
[00:35:48] I'm surprised with all the stuff that Lucas is doing as governor for people
[00:35:53] that none of the team Nathan people have asked how they're going to pay for everything.
[00:35:58] No one's asked where all the money is coming from, which is nice.
[00:36:03] Maybe we all just agree you should help people.
[00:36:05] I don't know.
[00:36:07] Are we to understand Bill Avery doesn't want to attend a meeting?
[00:36:11] Is that what I'm supposed to believe?
[00:36:13] He hears it.
[00:36:14] Can I say what I think happened?
[00:36:16] They filmed that scene with Hickam's sister.
[00:36:19] Jack Wagner either not available or they forgot that he's the mayor of the town.
[00:36:24] They filmed it.
[00:36:25] They locked it.
[00:36:26] It's in.
[00:36:26] It's done.
[00:36:27] And they realized
[00:36:30] Jack Wagner not in it.
[00:36:31] Bill Avery would 100% be in this meeting like he's in every important meeting
[00:36:37] in this town for he is a Mountie slash sheriff slash mayor.
[00:36:42] And he's not in it.
[00:36:43] So then they film another scene where they're like meeting.
[00:36:46] I would never.
[00:36:48] And so now you've got Bill Avery who's like, God, I hate a meeting.
[00:36:52] That's like all he does.
[00:36:53] That's this whole thing.
[00:36:54] He lives for me.
[00:36:55] The guy lives for a meeting.
[00:36:56] He lives for, you know that guy.
[00:36:58] He lives for a meeting.
[00:37:00] He does.
[00:37:01] Am I wrong, Jack?
[00:37:02] No, no, you're totally right.
[00:37:03] I just love picturing what was happening.
[00:37:06] Yeah.
[00:37:06] Like either said that day when they're like, oh shoot, we don't have Hickam's sister
[00:37:10] anymore.
[00:37:11] She's off and gone.
[00:37:12] We didn't do that scene.
[00:37:13] Okay, how can we make this work?
[00:37:15] And just the scramble that it had.
[00:37:18] I mean, it's just a chef's kiss imagining what was going on behind the scenes
[00:37:22] because you're absolutely right.
[00:37:23] Yeah, it was wild.
[00:37:25] I just was, I was taken aback.
[00:37:27] We did confirm my biggest fear, which is if you are a former Mountie,
[00:37:32] you can in fact just call and get any murder file you would like from the big
[00:37:37] boss Jenkins down the street.
[00:37:39] If you ever wore the red search, like that's a horror movie guys.
[00:37:45] That's a horror movie.
[00:37:46] Imagine if anyone that was ever a policeman could call and get any file
[00:37:50] they wanted.
[00:37:52] Are you kidding me?
[00:37:53] That's terrifying.
[00:37:55] And, and bill Avery just does it like it's just a Monday, Monday.
[00:37:59] Are we sure they can't?
[00:38:00] I honestly assumed they could.
[00:38:03] It's like Monday.
[00:38:04] I call and get old cold cases, even though I have nothing to do with them.
[00:38:07] And Tuesday, the Easter address is delivered.
[00:38:10] That's what happens.
[00:38:11] Well, technically we can get anything.
[00:38:13] It's just heavily redacted.
[00:38:15] Correct.
[00:38:15] He can just get a murder file.
[00:38:18] Yes.
[00:38:18] That is not heavily redacted.
[00:38:19] We could also, but just it wouldn't.
[00:38:21] That has been no once it's been cleared and is made available for public
[00:38:25] consumption.
[00:38:25] Yes.
[00:38:26] At one point I believe it was, is it Hickam's sister?
[00:38:32] Someone has the gall.
[00:38:34] Lindsay Sturman, you know how to fix this season.
[00:38:37] Someone has the gall to say the line.
[00:38:40] None of you have ever considered the downside of this resort.
[00:38:46] Have you met season 10?
[00:38:48] Have you met it?
[00:38:49] Have you met the entire season where we're mad about a resort?
[00:38:54] Have you met it?
[00:38:55] Every character waxes poetic about how they don't want to resort.
[00:39:01] And for someone to say, well, we never thought that there was a downside.
[00:39:05] Oh, what?
[00:39:08] What?
[00:39:09] No.
[00:39:11] No.
[00:39:11] And also the fact that Lucas is still in town and it appears he'll be staying there
[00:39:15] for the foreseeable future is unacceptable.
[00:39:18] It's unacceptable.
[00:39:20] We know that he's governor of a territory and we know that that
[00:39:22] territory is at least 15 hours away in its longest stretch from Hope Valley.
[00:39:28] You cannot stay in one random city the whole time.
[00:39:31] You can't do it.
[00:39:32] That's all I got.
[00:39:34] It is time for hopes and values.
[00:39:35] We're talking about things are giving us hope for the future and or bumming us out.
[00:39:39] Jackson.
[00:39:41] I'm hopeful May is going to meet Hickam's mom.
[00:39:43] I think that's going to be a whole lot of fun.
[00:39:47] Bumming me out, you know, that we there's such a short season this year.
[00:39:53] We just need more.
[00:39:57] What?
[00:39:58] What did you say?
[00:39:59] I thought you froze there.
[00:40:01] Did you say we needed more?
[00:40:03] I just wanted your reaction.
[00:40:04] Okay.
[00:40:05] I just wanted to see what it did for you guys.
[00:40:08] I'm not, you know, I'm not actually I'm not actually too afraid of anything.
[00:40:13] I'm open-hearted, open-minded about what's to come,
[00:40:15] but I do not want a wedding this season.
[00:40:17] So that's where my friend Brandon and I.
[00:40:20] Give me one reason.
[00:40:21] So we can have it next season?
[00:40:24] It feels very rushed to me and I like a courtship.
[00:40:27] I like a long court chip.
[00:40:28] You know, I'm eight years.
[00:40:29] They've been unofficially courting for years now.
[00:40:33] That is true.
[00:40:33] But she was kind of he was her side piece.
[00:40:36] They but they have been I want to be very clear and I remind listeners every
[00:40:41] I remind viewers of the show every year when we do this television show
[00:40:45] at this point, they have now been going through this back and forth
[00:40:50] on wind calls the heart longer than they have not.
[00:40:55] There were five seasons of Elizabeth and Jack.
[00:40:58] That's right.
[00:41:00] Nathan and Lucas show up in season six,
[00:41:02] season six and seven love triangle season eight.
[00:41:06] She chooses Lucas season nine.
[00:41:09] They get engaged season 10.
[00:41:11] She dumps Lucas now we're in season 11.
[00:41:14] They have been doing this utter nonsense longer on this show
[00:41:19] than they have not been doing it.
[00:41:22] It's it's just that does hit that does longer.
[00:41:26] Yeah, that does.
[00:41:28] Yeah.
[00:41:29] So like we can speed it up a little bit, right?
[00:41:32] Yeah.
[00:41:32] My hope.
[00:41:33] We get a kiss next week.
[00:41:35] If we get a kiss next week, I will come on here and I will say this is the best
[00:41:40] television show of all time.
[00:41:42] I'll take my show of all time.
[00:41:43] I'll take my shirt off.
[00:41:44] We'll have a big party.
[00:41:45] They'll be confetti all over the place.
[00:41:49] Kiss next week.
[00:41:49] Let's do this thing.
[00:41:50] Dan, the way you say kiss is now saying is now sounding like the way you say
[00:41:54] flirty.
[00:41:54] Can you say kiss and flirt together?
[00:41:56] Kiss and flirt.
[00:41:58] Next week, they're going to flirt the whole episode
[00:42:00] and they're going to kiss at the end of it.
[00:42:02] Oh, I hate it.
[00:42:04] I hate it too.
[00:42:05] Okay.
[00:42:05] I do want to say just as a sidebar, I am serious that I think Nathan shot Lucas,
[00:42:10] but in understanding that probably won't be the case.
[00:42:14] If at the end of this season Elizabeth realizes it's neither of them,
[00:42:17] that would also make me very, very happy.
[00:42:19] I don't think that will happen either,
[00:42:21] but I just wanted to throw that out there.
[00:42:22] My sink or as we say in this show Valley,
[00:42:26] my Valley is Toby, the character of Toby.
[00:42:30] This is going to sound like I'm being mean.
[00:42:32] I'm really mad that they made him good at math.
[00:42:36] They had an opportunity to go, you know what bro?
[00:42:40] Math isn't your strong suit.
[00:42:41] And the good news is in 1920, probably even more so than today,
[00:42:47] you don't need it.
[00:42:48] You can go and be creative.
[00:42:51] He's clearly creative.
[00:42:52] He's clearly artistic.
[00:42:53] He clearly has a lot to give the world.
[00:42:55] He's clearly has areas of expertise that I don't have as someone that likes math.
[00:43:00] Instead of encouraging this kid to pursue excellence in the field that he loves
[00:43:04] and his passion, we try to back door it back to math.
[00:43:09] Why?
[00:43:10] Like just let the kid not be good at math and go,
[00:43:13] we'll get you through it for the sake of the report card,
[00:43:15] but you just don't have to be good at math, buddy.
[00:43:18] And that's okay.
[00:43:19] Like for some people math just isn't your strong suit.
[00:43:22] But instead it's like you made this beautiful egg.
[00:43:24] Look at that.
[00:43:25] You divided fractions.
[00:43:26] Hate it.
[00:43:27] Hate it, hate it, hate it.
[00:43:29] There you go.
[00:43:30] We did it.
[00:43:30] It is time for the What's Called My Heart is where somebody emails in something
[00:43:33] that's making them happy, calling their heart and Dan reads it.
[00:43:36] Dan, who do we have today?
[00:43:37] Email is hello at deckthehomework.com.
[00:43:39] Tell us what's calling your heart.
[00:43:40] This is from Laura Schinner or Laura S even.
[00:43:45] Dear Brian, Dan, Jax, and maybe even Brian.
[00:43:48] Cause Schinner.
[00:43:49] What's calling my heart is the return of double decker of the week.
[00:43:55] While Brian may not be my panda,
[00:43:57] he sure has taken his deep diving just as seriously as Panda did.
[00:44:01] It's a joy to see someone from this wonderful community highlighted each week for their
[00:44:05] unique ideas.
[00:44:06] I laugh daily listening to the pod, but never more than during this segment.
[00:44:10] Although the wind calls the heart episodes are a close second.
[00:44:13] Can't wait till the day my brilliant idea business or invention
[00:44:16] is shared with everyone might just take us all by surprise.
[00:44:20] Sincerely, Laura Schinner.
[00:44:22] Very nicely done.
[00:44:23] Love Laura.
[00:44:24] I write shins not tragedies.
[00:44:26] We're back tomorrow with another episode.
[00:44:27] Jax, you're the best until then.
[00:44:29] Maybe the first to wish you a merry Christmas.

[00:45:02] It's really up to you at this point.
[00:45:04] Is that the end of the show?
[00:45:06] I mean, you're listening to me.
[00:45:07] Hi.
[00:45:08] But here they come.
[00:45:09] I promise they're coming.
[00:45:10] Yep.
[00:45:10] Here they are.
[00:45:12] Happy day.
