[00:00:00] Hi, I'm Brandon. I love when calls the heart

[00:00:04] Hi, I'm Jax and I like when calls the heart. I'm Dan and Nathan shot Lucas and this

[00:00:10] Is the Deck The Hallmark Podcast!

[00:00:12] Deck The Hallmark, it's his podcast

[00:00:14] And friends host his podcast

[00:00:18] We hope you like this jolly podcast

[00:00:20] Oh boy

[00:00:22] Hello everybody!

[00:00:24] Welcome

[00:00:26] Welcome

[00:00:31] It's great to be here

[00:00:33] We're over halfway there

[00:00:35] Wow

[00:00:37] Over halfway

[00:00:39] We are still living on a prayer though

[00:00:41] Yeah, there we go

[00:00:43] Oh is that Jax? Jax, hi!

[00:00:45] Oh hi, sorry, how are ya?

[00:00:47] I'm doing great. Are you

[00:00:49] Getting so excited about Bramble Fest? Cause I know I am

[00:00:51] I am

[00:00:53] Unbelievably

[00:00:55] Excited about Bramble Fest

[00:00:57] I'll be bringing a very special

[00:00:59] Guest this year

[00:01:01] Really? Danny DeVito said yes

[00:01:03] Is this

[00:01:05] Speaking of short kings

[00:01:07] Did you

[00:01:09] Yes he is

[00:01:11] Is it

[00:01:13] The person that you said

[00:01:15] You were going to bring

[00:01:17] Yes, one of them

[00:01:19] What do you mean?

[00:01:21] I think I bandied about a few names

[00:01:23] No?

[00:01:25] When we were texting earlier

[00:01:27] Yes, it's that person

[00:01:29] And you said if this happens then maybe

[00:01:31] I'll bring this person

[00:01:33] Exactly

[00:01:35] It's seeming like that other thing is going to happen

[00:01:37] Yeah, and nobody knows

[00:01:39] What it is, is that

[00:01:41] We try after the first year

[00:01:43] When we had people that just had to back out

[00:01:45] Because no fault of their own

[00:01:47] Now we just don't sell any of it

[00:01:49] You know what I mean? We just keep it a secret

[00:01:51] And if nothing works out then it's just

[00:01:53] I would still go to Bramble Fest if it was just Jax and Alonzo

[00:01:55] And Patrick

[00:01:57] Does your cat

[00:01:59] Does your cat need to go

[00:02:01] With the luggage or can you

[00:02:03] Keep it up

[00:02:05] If Scott brings his dog, I'm bringing my cat and you can't stop me

[00:02:07] That's what Jax told me

[00:02:09] That is what I said

[00:02:11] I was like, Scott and I are currently in a fight about it

[00:02:13] You should see this

[00:02:15] Yeah, it's pretty intense

[00:02:17] I don't like that, that's so sad

[00:02:19] I don't like fights

[00:02:21] I don't mind a little bit of healthy aggression

[00:02:23] Okay

[00:02:25] For those of you out there who

[00:02:27] Want to know where Jax stands on aggression

[00:02:29] Do you ever pick a fight just to do it?

[00:02:31] Are you kidding me?

[00:02:33] Yes

[00:02:35] I would pick a fight with you guys just to do it

[00:02:37] It's hard to get a rise out of me

[00:02:39] You know, like I'm so even keeled

[00:02:41] Like I usually just let it

[00:02:43] Float right on by

[00:02:45] But not like fights of substance

[00:02:47] Like you don't be like

[00:02:49] You don't be like

[00:02:51] Jax be like crazy

[00:02:53] You don't be like, hey I hate your shirt

[00:02:55] Right?

[00:02:57] Oh no, wait, so that's not a substance

[00:02:59] Right? But like I go deeper

[00:03:01] I go deeper to like

[00:03:03] Like you hurt me to my core

[00:03:05] That's when I feel like picking a fight

[00:03:07] I go, you know, deep like that

[00:03:09] Yeah

[00:03:11] I'm still getting over it

[00:03:13] No one wanted to follow up on

[00:03:15] Me saying Danny DeVito is my hall pass

[00:03:17] No

[00:03:19] Wait, wait, wait, wait, Brandon

[00:03:21] You said that

[00:03:23] Yeah, I didn't hear it

[00:03:25] I said it real fast

[00:03:27] I said it real fast

[00:03:29] I would have scratched that

[00:03:31] I didn't hear it

[00:03:33] So is he actually your hall pass and Caitlin's okay with it?

[00:03:35] No

[00:03:37] But now that I get some thought

[00:03:41] I would love the idea

[00:03:43] Of me like getting up in the morning and going

[00:03:45] Outside and look at the pool and looking over the fence

[00:03:47] And just seeing like Danny DeVito in a bathrobe

[00:03:49] I'm swinging Danny DeVito

[00:03:51] In the swing

[00:03:53] Here's the big push

[00:03:55] Danny

[00:03:59] Yeah, Danny DeVito's coming to Bramblefest

[00:04:01] I feel like Lucy DeVito would come

[00:04:03] Yeah? His daughter

[00:04:05] Tori DeVito

[00:04:07] Tori DeVito too, I don't think she's any relation

[00:04:09] But why not

[00:04:11] We asked her, she was on the show

[00:04:13] We met her

[00:04:15] I feel like there was something there

[00:04:17] Of course

[00:04:19] How can someone talk to you guys and not have something be there

[00:04:21] Right

[00:04:23] I think we were talking about

[00:04:25] Her relation to Danny DeVito

[00:04:27] That was what was there

[00:04:29] No, but it's okay

[00:04:31] What do you think there was some chemistry there

[00:04:33] The sparks between us

[00:04:35] Between Bram, me and Tori DeVito were out of bounds

[00:04:39] I wasn't trying to make a joke

[00:04:41] I literally was

[00:04:43] I thought that's

[00:04:45] I'm with you now

[00:04:47] We're off to a great start

[00:04:49] I think we can say that

[00:04:51] No questions asked

[00:04:53] Let's talk

[00:04:55] When Calls the Heart season 11

[00:04:57] 7 which is called

[00:04:59] Bringing Home Baby

[00:05:01] Bringing Home Baby

[00:05:03] Okay, Jax

[00:05:05] Bringing Up Baby

[00:05:07] Oh, bringing

[00:05:09] You can't play

[00:05:11] It is Facing the Music

[00:05:13] Facing the Music is the name of the episode

[00:05:15] Originally aired on May 19th, 2024

[00:05:17] And one of those subs

[00:05:19] Is Elizabeth is writing a letter

[00:05:21] To dead Jack

[00:05:23] Because it would have been his birthday

[00:05:25] If he had still been alive

[00:05:27] Obviously

[00:05:29] Baby Jack asks if they can get dead dad

[00:05:31] Some balloons

[00:05:33] And she says

[00:05:35] Why stop there, let's get some flowers too

[00:05:37] At Nathan's office

[00:05:39] Bill and Rosemary

[00:05:41] Are once again

[00:05:43] I don't know if you've heard

[00:05:45] They don't think Pike did it

[00:05:47] And they've got some thoughts

[00:05:49] They think Pike

[00:05:51] Obviously

[00:05:53] Is a good idea

[00:05:55] But they don't think

[00:05:57] She's a good idea

[00:05:59] So they're not going to

[00:06:01] Do it

[00:06:03] But they're going to

[00:06:05] Do it

[00:06:07] So

[00:06:09] They're going to

[00:06:11] Do it

[00:06:13] So

[00:06:15] They're going to

[00:06:17] Do it

[00:06:19] So

[00:06:21] I remember

[00:06:23] Southern boo thing

[00:06:25] She put in a bid

[00:06:27] But he's like

[00:06:29] We're not doing that

[00:06:31] And he's like

[00:06:33] You're just going to have to trust me

[00:06:35] On this one

[00:06:37] We're not getting into business

[00:06:39] With my Southern boo thing

[00:06:41] At the cemetery

[00:06:43] The dead folks home

[00:06:45] Elizabeth and little Jack

[00:06:47] Arrived

[00:06:49] Jack's brother. We love Tommy. It hasn't been seasons and seasons and seasons.

[00:06:54] Elizabeth is excited to introduce little Jack to his uncle.

[00:07:00] Hasn't been there in a while obviously.

[00:07:02] Joseph looks through the mail hoping he got a response from his brother.

[00:07:07] No luck.

[00:07:08] Minnie says, hey by chance did you apologize in your letter?

[00:07:11] And he's like, I didn't apologize. I don't know what to apologize for.

[00:07:14] But I left the door open. Told him he could come if he wants to.

[00:07:17] Minnie says to give it time. Maybe he'll be surprised.

[00:07:20] Elizabeth walks around town to catch up with Tom.

[00:07:23] They go to the saloon. He plays a song on the piano.

[00:07:26] And then Rosemary and Lee show up.

[00:07:28] And you remember obviously Tom and Rosemary they grew up together.

[00:07:33] Same town.

[00:07:35] Rosemary and Jack they were dating.

[00:07:39] But that's how Rosemary remembers Tom and all the hijinks that we all also know about.

[00:07:43] That's exactly right. Thank you.

[00:07:45] And then Tom and Nathan.

[00:07:47] Then Tom is going to go meet at Elizabeth's house.

[00:07:52] Nathan shows up. They meet.

[00:07:54] And she explains that Tom is visiting for Jack's birthday.

[00:07:58] He's like, I didn't know. I didn't know it was Jack's birthday.

[00:08:01] I didn't know that.

[00:08:02] And she says he doesn't come here very often.

[00:08:05] Probably living in the shadow of his dead brother.

[00:08:07] That's probably tough.

[00:08:08] And Nathan's like, I can relate.

[00:08:10] And she's like, I don't see you about living in that shadow.

[00:08:13] Living in the shadow of my dead ex-husband.

[00:08:14] You're not in that shadow, sir.

[00:08:16] Don't you even talk about that.

[00:08:17] That's what I've been friends with him for four and a half years.

[00:08:20] Tom is especially excited to see Faith.

[00:08:23] You got the half-baked.

[00:08:25] And he goes to ask her to lunch.

[00:08:28] And Lily is there. Remember Lily?

[00:08:31] And so he's like, Lily can come too.

[00:08:33] Now apparently Tom has a say in some choir festival.

[00:08:38] He's going around.

[00:08:39] No, I want you to explain it better than that.

[00:08:41] So he's going around town.

[00:08:42] Around to different towns.

[00:08:43] And he's getting people, groups of people,

[00:08:46] to sign up for a choir festival that's happening in Salt Lake City.

[00:08:51] Winner, $600.

[00:08:52] $300.

[00:08:53] $300.

[00:08:54] So if you...

[00:08:57] Lose or walk.

[00:08:58] You got to pay $65.

[00:09:00] The entry fee is $65.

[00:09:02] It's five bucks a person.

[00:09:03] That's exactly right.

[00:09:04] So when the Hope Valley Choir finds out about this,

[00:09:09] they are very excited.

[00:09:12] They're like, we got to talk about it.

[00:09:14] Maybe you can give us a shot.

[00:09:15] Elizabeth and Rosemary though, they're reluctant

[00:09:17] because Tom's a bit of a swindler.

[00:09:19] He's swindled in the past.

[00:09:21] And let us not forget that time.

[00:09:23] Oh, he just returned to Elizabeth's car.

[00:09:26] The little joy ride.

[00:09:28] I mean, I talk about it with you every week.

[00:09:31] Now when Allie asked Nathan for $5,

[00:09:33] he's like, whoa, whoa, whoa.

[00:09:35] That's $5, little lady.

[00:09:37] I got to hear more about this.

[00:09:39] And Elizabeth agrees.

[00:09:40] I'm going to save all my money to not kiss Elizabeth.

[00:09:42] That's right.

[00:09:43] Now, so he goes to talk to Elizabeth.

[00:09:45] They both agree that things are moving a little bit too fast.

[00:09:47] Maybe we should go get some answers.

[00:09:48] So they go to talk to Tom, and Tom is basically like,

[00:09:50] whomp, whomp, you think I'm just a screw-up?

[00:09:52] You don't think I can do anything?

[00:09:54] And they're like, hey, okay, man.

[00:09:56] You can have the money.

[00:09:57] Sorry, we didn't mean to question.

[00:09:59] Which is a good scam if that's a scam.

[00:10:00] Yeah, whomp, whomp.

[00:10:01] Rosemary is getting ready to leave because she is leave

[00:10:05] to go meet with Pike's mom.

[00:10:08] But Pike's mom ends up getting off the stagecoach.

[00:10:11] What?

[00:10:12] She's in Ho Valley, so that's nice.

[00:10:14] Imagine if she would have gotten into town a few minutes later.

[00:10:16] Now Hazel Pike is her name, and she

[00:10:18] Hazel Pike, Hazel Pike

[00:10:21] tells Rosemary and Bill, her memory's not what it used to be,

[00:10:25] which is always good to hear from a witness.

[00:10:28] But she says, listen, I know that Clayton,

[00:10:32] that's his name, it's not Pike, it's Clayton,

[00:10:35] was with me the night of the election.

[00:10:39] I had a bad hip.

[00:10:41] He was with me, helping me with my bad hip.

[00:10:43] Hips don't lie.

[00:10:44] That's exactly right.

[00:10:47] David Vitas in particular.

[00:10:49] So they're like, your bad hip?

[00:10:52] And she's like, yeah, it fallen.

[00:10:54] And Clayton was going to help with my hip.

[00:10:58] And I think that something happened,

[00:11:01] and someone is forcing him to take the fall.

[00:11:04] Act hurt.

[00:11:05] Yeah, be committed.

[00:11:07] Now Gowen and Lucas are talking about the resort.

[00:11:12] And Lucas is like, Gowen, I got great news.

[00:11:14] Did you know the government has money?

[00:11:18] What if we use government money to pay for resorts?

[00:11:23] And Gowen's like, he's like, no, no, no.

[00:11:27] That's not what the government's for.

[00:11:30] It also that seems like it's quite the gamble.

[00:11:33] You have to decide whether or not this is worth the gamble

[00:11:36] or you just walk away.

[00:11:38] And I think Gowen is trying to say, you should walk away.

[00:11:41] You should walk away.

[00:11:42] It's time to walk away.

[00:11:44] Where was I in this?

[00:11:47] Walk away.

[00:11:48] Election night, go.

[00:11:50] Back to Mrs. Pike.

[00:11:51] Now, Rosemary asks about how her hip is doing now.

[00:11:54] And she's like, my hip is great.

[00:11:56] This is crazy.

[00:11:57] You're not going to believe this.

[00:11:58] A friend of Clayton's paid for my surgery in full.

[00:12:01] In fact, the night he actually got the money

[00:12:07] the week before Clayton was arrested.

[00:12:10] It's crazy.

[00:12:11] And so, and also this might be a bit of information

[00:12:15] you should know.

[00:12:16] While I was in the hospital recovering,

[00:12:18] Mr. Montague sent me flowers.

[00:12:20] Do I know the man?

[00:12:21] No.

[00:12:22] Nah.

[00:12:23] I'm sure it's nothing.

[00:12:24] Just coincidence is all it is.

[00:12:26] Tom makes a call to Mr. Sweeney.

[00:12:28] That's the guy who is heading up all the festivals.

[00:12:31] Sweeney Todd's doing that.

[00:12:33] And it does not seem to go well.

[00:12:35] Tom seems very upset after this phone call

[00:12:37] and he turns to Ned and he's like,

[00:12:38] Ned, did you wire the money to Mr. Sweeney?

[00:12:40] And he's like, I sure did.

[00:12:42] And Tom's like, yes!

[00:12:44] This is great for all of us.

[00:12:46] Bill and Rosemary catch Nathan up on what they've learned

[00:12:49] about Mrs. Pike and the Pike family in general.

[00:12:52] And Nathan says, you know what I'm going to do?

[00:12:53] I'm going to call in a favor.

[00:12:54] This is something I can do as Mountie.

[00:12:56] We're going to get this guy who's behind bars

[00:12:59] to come here for the night.

[00:13:00] Let's get him in a convertible.

[00:13:01] We get him in here.

[00:13:02] We reroute his route.

[00:13:03] We don't know that.

[00:13:04] We don't know that he's going to come in a convertible.

[00:13:06] That's true.

[00:13:07] But hypothetically, and we'll get him to come into town

[00:13:10] and speak to us.

[00:13:11] That'd be wonderful.

[00:13:12] It's all on the up and up.

[00:13:13] And now it is time for the choir to leave to Salt Lake City.

[00:13:16] And Tom is nowhere to be found.

[00:13:18] Elizabeth finds out that he left that morning

[00:13:20] to the train station.

[00:13:21] So she hops on the back of Nathan's horse.

[00:13:24] Boy, does she.

[00:13:25] Boy, oh boy.

[00:13:27] At Lucas's office, Edwin hands Lucas a note.

[00:13:32] And it says that the Benson Hills Oil Company going under.

[00:13:37] No more oil left.

[00:13:39] It's tough.

[00:13:40] He's done with that.

[00:13:41] And now Lucas feels like this resort has to happen.

[00:13:44] We need to provide jobs.

[00:13:45] We need to help the economy.

[00:13:47] We need to open things back up.

[00:13:49] And so he picks up the phone, slams it back down,

[00:13:54] picks it up again, and who does he call?

[00:13:56] Montague.

[00:13:58] Oh boy.

[00:14:00] Nathan and Elizabeth arrive at the train station.

[00:14:02] They find Tom, and Tom says, I've been swindled.

[00:14:06] The swindler's been swindled.

[00:14:08] And they say, it's okay, bud.

[00:14:09] We'll help you.

[00:14:10] And that, my friends, was When Calls the Heart Season 11,

[00:14:13] Episode 7, Facing the Music.

[00:14:18] We did it.

[00:14:19] We're going to take a quick break.

[00:14:20] We're going to come back.

[00:14:21] We're going to break this episode down here on Deck the Hallmark.

[00:14:25] It is great to be back.

[00:14:35] I tell you what.

[00:14:36] We're talking about Season 11, Episode 7, Seventh Heaven.

[00:14:41] Seventh Heaven.

[00:14:42] When I see their happy faces.

[00:14:47] I was just about ready to come in.

[00:14:48] I thought we were all doing it.

[00:14:49] I don't know anything of that song.

[00:14:51] Smiling back at me.

[00:14:54] That's all I know.

[00:14:55] Seventh Heaven.

[00:14:56] Great.

[00:14:57] You guys take it from here?

[00:14:58] I know there's no.

[00:14:59] We're done?

[00:15:00] Made a feeling, then the love of family.

[00:15:03] Where would you go?

[00:15:06] When the world can't figure out the answer where?

[00:15:11] Home.

[00:15:12] That's right.

[00:15:13] That's the one place that you'll find.

[00:15:15] Seventh Heaven.

[00:15:16] Seventh Heaven.

[00:15:17] Let's break this episode down.

[00:15:19] We're going to start with a hot take.

[00:15:21] We're going to share exactly how we felt about this episode of television.

[00:15:23] I'm going to start with Jax.

[00:15:25] Jax, what did you think of Facing the Music?

[00:15:29] It's no When Calls the Heart Time's Up edition, but it was good.

[00:15:34] I had a good time enjoying all the characters.

[00:15:41] Jax, if we lowered our standards.

[00:15:43] We've just decided the elevator has just gone through the floor on what an

[00:15:49] acceptable episode of this show is.

[00:15:52] Let me say this and being completely honest.

[00:15:56] My answer is I don't know in the sense that I felt I just really didn't like

[00:16:01] the first episode as we know.

[00:16:03] Then I've liked other episodes a lot more.

[00:16:07] I don't know if it's where I started this season, but I just really didn't

[00:16:12] like the first episode at all.

[00:16:14] I am enjoying myself now.

[00:16:16] The question I have for you guys and I feel like both of you will know.

[00:16:20] I feel like Bran probably will have done his research and Dan probably just

[00:16:23] already knew this.

[00:16:24] I didn't know so I had to look it up.

[00:16:26] What do you think $5 is in 19-20 money now with inflation?

[00:16:37] $5 in 19-20 is probably around 40 or 50 bucks.

[00:16:42] I was going to say 50 bones.

[00:16:44] 50 bones?

[00:16:45] It is like $79 so like 80 bucks.

[00:16:49] Which is higher than I thought and it actually helped me for the rest of this

[00:16:55] episode shape the gravity of this situation that it's like okay, it's 80

[00:16:59] bucks each and $1,000 for the town which $1,000 for the town doesn't seem

[00:17:04] like a ton, but Ali asking Nathan for 80 bucks.

[00:17:07] I'm like okay, that actually is kind of like a thing.

[00:17:09] Ali asking Nathan for $80, I'm with you on.

[00:17:11] Some of these adults with full-time jobs who are like this is going to break

[00:17:17] the bank, I'm not with you on at all.

[00:17:20] Yeah, I hear that.

[00:17:22] I hear that.

[00:17:23] Look, I'm not here to – everybody has to work hard and it's our economy

[00:17:29] and how we've set up our systems of spending money and working is

[00:17:33] unfortunate, but all these people that really want to go to Salt Lake City,

[00:17:37] $80 ain't breaking the bank.

[00:17:38] There's no way.

[00:17:39] Especially because we do have some rich people in town like why aren't

[00:17:42] Rosemary and Lee just paying for the entire town?

[00:17:45] I'm sure, but that was –

[00:17:46] We'll get there.

[00:17:47] Brayden brought that up and I'll let him have that.

[00:17:49] That's the big one.

[00:17:51] That's like this should not have been an issue at all, especially now that I

[00:17:54] know that it's under $1,000 total dollars.

[00:17:56] Yeah.

[00:17:58] Well, sorry.

[00:17:59] I guess I should be clear that it actually is slightly over that with

[00:18:03] the inflation.

[00:18:04] It was like around $1,000, slightly over.

[00:18:06] But yeah, it's $1,000.

[00:18:07] $1,000.

[00:18:08] You know, it was nice to meet – well, to see again Jack's brother who

[00:18:14] they didn't – I'm surprised they didn't have him stand on an Apple box

[00:18:18] or anything.

[00:18:19] I love a tort king.

[00:18:20] I think he's great.

[00:18:21] It was just like – it actually was the first time I've ever noticed on

[00:18:26] this show that someone looks short or tall.

[00:18:29] So it's just an observation that I had.

[00:18:32] He's cute, great to have him in town.

[00:18:34] Hope things light up with him in faith.

[00:18:37] Once again though, no Danny DeVito.

[00:18:39] Absolutely not.

[00:18:41] Yeah.

[00:18:42] No, Danny DeVito is our true short king that is your hall pass.

[00:18:46] Apparently.

[00:18:47] It's never not funny.

[00:18:49] I can't believe I missed it the first time.

[00:18:51] I know, me too.

[00:18:53] I love that you thought I heard it and just decided to ignore it.

[00:18:57] That was even stranger to me.

[00:18:59] Yeah, how could we bypass that?

[00:19:01] Yeah, come on.

[00:19:03] So it's fine.

[00:19:05] This episode's fine.

[00:19:08] I do – like I think we got some okay storylines going on.

[00:19:15] It is once again just all of it's moving at a snail's pace.

[00:19:19] I feel like we're having a lot of the same conversations over and over again.

[00:19:22] Resort, who's going to do it?

[00:19:27] Pike, he couldn't have done it, right?

[00:19:30] No.

[00:19:32] It's just like the same thing over and over again with just like slightly

[00:19:35] different variations of it.

[00:19:37] And what really made this come to light for me is I've never seen a Bridgerton,

[00:19:43] but my wife decided to give it a shot.

[00:19:47] And my takeaway in listening to the show is they are moving lightning fast.

[00:19:52] Oh, yeah.

[00:19:53] Because I'm so used to this show, Winkles the Heart, nothing going on.

[00:20:02] It's just like moving at a snail's pace.

[00:20:05] And it's just like you don't have to actually.

[00:20:09] You can go.

[00:20:12] Why wait until the season finale to do a kiss when you could do it in episode 2?

[00:20:17] Or one.

[00:20:18] Or one.

[00:20:19] Or less.

[00:20:20] Or less.

[00:20:21] It's just an idea, but what if instead of dragging a few storylines out over the

[00:20:27] course of the season –

[00:20:28] Then they would have to write new stories.

[00:20:31] Yeah.

[00:20:32] It's just like because I'm not not invested in this Pike storyline.

[00:20:37] I'm intrigued to see what happens.

[00:20:38] I'm intrigued to see who the real shooter is.

[00:20:40] I cared at one point about the resort.

[00:20:43] There's stuff that I care about.

[00:20:46] Obviously, I want Elizabeth and Nathan to finally kiss.

[00:20:48] I've made that perfectly clear.

[00:20:50] I just wish things were happening a little bit faster.

[00:20:53] Is that too much to ask for?

[00:20:54] In this show it is.

[00:20:56] Yes, it is.

[00:20:57] This show is insufferable.

[00:20:59] We are –

[00:21:00] Jack's overly kind.

[00:21:02] Bran somewhat kind.

[00:21:05] We have not done anything.

[00:21:08] Jack's brother showing up, make no mistake, that is not new plot.

[00:21:13] That is check the box so no one can get mad when Elizabeth moves on with Nathan.

[00:21:18] That's all that is.

[00:21:20] That is just –

[00:21:22] We've got to have somebody from Jack's family to make sure this is okay.

[00:21:25] New Mountie, blah, blah, blah.

[00:21:28] The resort, if I have to hear any more discussion about the resort,

[00:21:34] I'm going to start twitching.

[00:21:36] I'm going to start having a hard time.

[00:21:38] I just –

[00:21:40] There's just no way that this is –

[00:21:42] Last season, do you remember the hot springs?

[00:21:46] No, of course you don't.

[00:21:48] There were tourists coming to town for that and now nobody talks about it at all.

[00:21:53] No.

[00:21:54] No.

[00:21:55] And then the Nathan and Elizabeth thing, it is very clear they are waiting for the last

[00:21:59] or penultimate episode for them to kiss.

[00:22:02] So we're not going to get anything there.

[00:22:04] We're not getting anything with the pike situation.

[00:22:07] Aside from them bringing him to town for us to confirm what we already knew,

[00:22:10] we're not getting anything with the resort.

[00:22:12] This show is spinning its wheels on a one-gear bicycle.

[00:22:19] It only moves so fast, and it's going slow for it.

[00:22:24] It is going slow for a show that is known for going slow.

[00:22:30] It's tough.

[00:22:31] It's tough sledding.

[00:22:32] It hit not a single authentic note this week, and it made me pretty mad.

[00:22:40] So we did it.

[00:22:42] Go Hope Valley.

[00:22:44] Can I ask a quick follow-up?

[00:22:46] Please.

[00:22:47] I don't disagree with you that this storyline with Jack's brother is to check the box.

[00:22:54] Do you think that means it's okay to move on?

[00:22:58] It's a family blessing.

[00:23:00] Do you think that means that Lucas was never endgame and they knew all along

[00:23:04] because they didn't do that, or do they just think now that Nathan is really endgame?

[00:23:07] What are your thoughts on that?

[00:23:09] I don't want to make people go listen to more Dick the Hallmark if they don't want to,

[00:23:13] but if you listen to our Cavan Smith interview, I just decided to ask him what he thought

[00:23:20] when they told him that they were going to switch and go with Nathan instead of Lucas.

[00:23:25] And his answer is so incredibly authentic and real, and it was clearly a surprise,

[00:23:33] and it clearly took some of the people who care about characters by surprise.

[00:23:39] And he was very gracious and kind, but if you listen to his answer, you'll know that that was not.

[00:23:45] When the showrunner, when Tinker left, they decided to tink.

[00:23:51] Exactly.

[00:23:52] So I think this is just their way of covering all their bases.

[00:23:56] It also seems like it's the year of bringing back old storylines.

[00:23:59] We had Southern Old Boo from Lucas' life coming back in, and then Tom now.

[00:24:06] Maybe we'll see somebody else in the next few episodes from another season.

[00:24:10] And I think it's just a thing they decided to do this season.

[00:24:13] What if we bring back people?

[00:24:15] If you look at the arc, they've basically let Elizabeth go on an acceptance tour of her friends and Rosemary and then Lucas.

[00:24:26] And then there's another one that happened in the last two episodes that isn't Tom, that isn't Jack's brother.

[00:24:35] I can't wait until we get Mace to in faith being like, I know I almost had something kind of weird with Nathan for two seconds, but obviously you're the one.

[00:24:42] Yeah, yeah.

[00:24:43] Like it is.

[00:24:44] It is just this very weird.

[00:24:46] Everyone needs to tell her out loud that what is what is happening is okay so they can stretch this thing into oblivion and have them finally kiss.

[00:24:56] I hope Jax is right.

[00:24:57] Penultimate episode.

[00:24:58] But I'm starting to think Jax that it might be in the finale.

[00:25:02] I also am.

[00:25:04] Yeah, and I hate that for you because I want you know, I went to the guest and missed.

[00:25:10] I would love for you to be right, but I don't think it's happening.

[00:25:12] I don't think I am.

[00:25:13] Have we done feels yet?

[00:25:14] No, sorry.

[00:25:15] Sorry.

[00:25:16] Oh, all right.

[00:25:17] It's time for all the feels.

[00:25:18] I'll make it quick.

[00:25:21] My dad and I watched the TV show The Diplomat together and there was an unexpected sex scene in it.

[00:25:31] And it was very uncomfortable to watch that with my father.

[00:25:34] I felt the same kind of feel when Elizabeth got on the horse with Nathan and I was watching this episode alone.

[00:25:41] Yeah, and I just want to say like it made me have all the feels.

[00:25:46] It was very sexy, but I got red.

[00:25:48] I almost got embarrassed.

[00:25:49] I was like, I feel like I'm watching something I shouldn't.

[00:25:52] You thought Bram was watching twins.

[00:25:55] That was the first Andy DeVito reference that came to mind.

[00:25:57] I did the best I could.

[00:25:58] I turned to Dan when she hopped on that horse and I said that was downright pornographic.

[00:26:04] Nathan looks at her and he goes get on and then she jumps on and then grabs him and has this look like only Aaron Krakow can have in the show.

[00:26:16] And you're like, I mean one of my white what's is why did she need to do that?

[00:26:20] And you're like, I mean one of my white what's is why did she need to go to the train station with him?

[00:26:25] No, there's no literally no reason that she needs to go to the train station with him.

[00:26:30] But we got that scene out of it.

[00:26:32] I said they just basically had sex.

[00:26:34] Yeah, for this show?

[00:26:35] Beyond, yeah.

[00:26:38] You know, good for them.

[00:26:39] Good for them.

[00:26:40] I was impressed that like she got on that horse.

[00:26:43] No problem.

[00:26:44] She got on that horse.

[00:26:45] So and it didn't even look like he helped her.

[00:26:48] You just kind of like a but there's a trampoline by horse.

[00:26:51] So, but don't good to go.

[00:26:54] Easy peasy.

[00:26:55] What was that again?

[00:26:56] But I'm going to be mounted in.

[00:26:59] She sure did.

[00:27:00] By horse by trampoline.

[00:27:01] Either one.

[00:27:02] Well, that sounds like the horse is traveling by trampoline.

[00:27:04] No, it sounds like you got on the trampoline.

[00:27:09] I'll be there.

[00:27:10] I'm traveling horse by trampoline.

[00:27:11] That route is the one horse by trampoline.

[00:27:14] You get on the trampoline, you jump on the horse.

[00:27:17] South by Southwest.

[00:27:18] Yeah, yeah.

[00:27:19] Horse by trampoline.

[00:27:20] That's the following weekend.

[00:27:21] And then we're going to Bonnaroo.

[00:27:24] Yeah, that was a I still don't really know how I feel about it.

[00:27:28] But it happened.

[00:27:29] I think that's all of ours.

[00:27:30] Yeah, I'll take it.

[00:27:31] Let's go.

[00:27:32] Let's take a quick break.

[00:27:33] We'll be right with a little bit more.

[00:27:34] We're going to Dagda Hallmark.

[00:27:44] Those Camden's.

[00:27:46] It's crazy, huh?

[00:27:47] Crazy Camden's.

[00:27:48] Crazy.

[00:27:50] You know about this show, Today's Big Thing?

[00:27:51] Yeah, I know about that show.

[00:27:53] Let's talk about the Wait What?

[00:27:54] It's where we talk about what in this episode made us go, wait, what?

[00:27:58] Jax?

[00:27:59] I'm just going to do one.

[00:28:00] I feel like you fellas will cover the rest.

[00:28:02] You say this every week, Jax.

[00:28:07] I didn't want it to come for me.

[00:28:11] It's a beautiful scene and very well acted by Erin Kroyko.

[00:28:16] I'm really liking the stuff she's doing, especially in the latter half of the season.

[00:28:20] It's really beautiful work.

[00:28:22] When she looks at Nathan and says, I don't think you're in anyone's shadow.

[00:28:26] It's a beautiful moment.

[00:28:28] But let us remember the scene with the surge.

[00:28:33] A couple seasons ago, where she straight up told him that essentially he was in her husband's

[00:28:40] shadow and that's why she was having these confusing feelings.

[00:28:45] So, baby, don't be surprised that he thinks that.

[00:28:48] I actually understand why Nathan thinks that.

[00:28:51] And his comment is not some self-pitying thing.

[00:28:53] I thought he was just like, oh, I understand that.

[00:28:55] And I also think it's very normal that if you are dating or courting or in a relationship

[00:29:00] with someone who has had a partner that has passed away, you might feel like you're in

[00:29:05] their shadow a little bit.

[00:29:07] And honestly, that's okay.

[00:29:08] Especially when you wear their clothes.

[00:29:10] And also when you sent them to their death.

[00:29:13] Oh, what?

[00:29:15] That was...

[00:29:17] No.

[00:29:19] Yeah, there's that.

[00:29:21] I have a few.

[00:29:23] One, I know that it's all that they could do, but you know what should have been the giveaway

[00:29:29] that they were getting scammed?

[00:29:31] Everything.

[00:29:32] But there is a representative for the choir company, the Salt Lake City Choir Company,

[00:29:41] by the name of Tom.

[00:29:43] Tom's there.

[00:29:45] And Tom says, I couldn't possibly make this.

[00:29:48] I couldn't approve this on my own.

[00:29:50] We're going to do an audition on the phone.

[00:29:53] So what it sounds like on the other end, wherever homeboy is, there's...

[00:29:58] And I can imagine him on the other side being like...

[00:30:02] Yeah, it's good.

[00:30:04] You can't hear the details of a choir over the phone.

[00:30:14] That's good.

[00:30:16] Yeah, it sounds like all the other choirs over the phone.

[00:30:18] Are we getting scammed here?

[00:30:20] I will say this.

[00:30:22] Number one, a guy comes to town who hasn't been to town even to see his nephew.

[00:30:25] Number two, he didn't tell you it was $65 until after he told you you were in.

[00:30:31] That's number two.

[00:30:33] And number three, basically what Steve Zane says in That Thing You Do,

[00:30:37] except Tom Hanks does put their song on the radio.

[00:30:40] This man in a camper is going to put our song on the radio.

[00:30:44] Give me a pen, I'm signing your sign, and we're all signing.

[00:30:47] Who in 1920 is traveling...

[00:30:49] Someone sent me to recruit people for a choir concert in Utah.

[00:30:53] Thousands of miles from you, and you've got what it takes.

[00:30:57] What?

[00:30:59] It's one of the dumber plot lines.

[00:31:01] And then to find out that he thought it was real,

[00:31:04] he's dumber than they are.

[00:31:06] Yeah, real bad.

[00:31:08] So they're talking to Miss Pike,

[00:31:12] and she's talking about her hip.

[00:31:14] And when they're asking her about how's your hip doing now,

[00:31:19] they ask it by going, your hip?

[00:31:22] And I thought I forgot that they were talking about her actual hip,

[00:31:27] so I thought they were saying are you cool?

[00:31:29] And that's really just for me, but I thought it was funny.

[00:31:32] I got a little chuckled.

[00:31:34] You hip?

[00:31:36] Hey, are you hip?

[00:31:38] Your hip?

[00:31:40] Cool.

[00:31:42] There's a scene where it opens up and Lucas is looking at some papers on his desk,

[00:31:45] and he chuckles to himself.

[00:31:46] He's like, oh man, he's reading the funnies.

[00:31:48] When he puts it down we see it's just blueprints to something.

[00:31:52] So he's just like, blueprints?

[00:31:54] A second story?

[00:31:56] Are you kidding me right now?

[00:31:58] This is insane.

[00:32:00] Last but not least,

[00:32:02] this is unfortunate for this town,

[00:32:07] that they're going to get scammed.

[00:32:10] I just wish that there was some people that could maybe make it all go away.

[00:32:14] Like Rosemary.

[00:32:16] Rosemary shouldn't be concerned about this issue,

[00:32:19] because Lee owns a thousand companies.

[00:32:22] She runs a newspaper.

[00:32:24] If they find out about this,

[00:32:28] I hope that next week Lee steps up to the plate

[00:32:32] as the mayor, as the co-mayor here,

[00:32:35] and goes, I'm going to make it all go away guys,

[00:32:37] because I own everything.

[00:32:39] I own everything.

[00:32:41] I can make it all go away.

[00:32:42] We'll see what happens.

[00:32:44] Dana?

[00:32:46] So when we first met Tom Thornton,

[00:32:48] all the way back in season two in Hamilton,

[00:32:50] remember those good times?

[00:32:52] Bum, ba da dum, bum bum.

[00:32:54] Ba na na na.

[00:32:56] How did Tom Thornton?

[00:33:00] I'm doing Hamilton.

[00:33:02] Yeah, that's good.

[00:33:04] It does tie in.

[00:33:06] I didn't get it until you literally said,

[00:33:08] how did Tom Thornton?

[00:33:10] And I knew we were in for it.

[00:33:12] Thank you.

[00:33:14] Tom Thornton in season two

[00:33:16] has a hardened New York accent.

[00:33:18] Now, why does he have that accent

[00:33:20] when his brother is Daniel Lissing?

[00:33:22] I don't know.

[00:33:24] But if you go back and watch season two in Hamilton,

[00:33:26] he sounds like he's auditioning

[00:33:28] for a prequel to Mean Streets.

[00:33:30] He could not be more New York

[00:33:32] if he tried to be New York.

[00:33:34] And then all of a sudden he shows up in season 11,

[00:33:36] and he has lost his accent entirely,

[00:33:39] and it made me chuckle quite a bit,

[00:33:40] and I appreciated it a lot.

[00:33:42] Is Robert dead?

[00:33:45] And I ask that because producer Erin Shea,

[00:33:49] who does not watch When Calls the Heart with us

[00:33:51] because she knows she doesn't have to,

[00:33:54] she came and sat down

[00:33:56] while Brandon and I were watching this,

[00:33:59] and she goes,

[00:34:01] whatever happened to Robert?

[00:34:03] And I looked at her and I said,

[00:34:05] who's Robert?

[00:34:07] I had forgotten

[00:34:08] who Robert was.

[00:34:10] And then I remembered who Robert was,

[00:34:12] and then I remembered

[00:34:14] he hasn't been on the show in,

[00:34:16] I don't know,

[00:34:18] forever.

[00:34:20] Is he dead?

[00:34:22] He had one scene in episode one, right?

[00:34:24] Of the season?

[00:34:26] Where he's just kind of like sitting on a porch.

[00:34:28] And that was it.

[00:34:30] What's going on?

[00:34:32] Because in the haircut episode.

[00:34:34] It's two.

[00:34:36] It's like they got the daycare

[00:34:38] and they're working on him.

[00:34:40] The daycare is like self-checkout at Walmart.

[00:34:42] It's like those workers are gone.

[00:34:44] There's nothing we can do.

[00:34:46] Maybe they're working at the daycare,

[00:34:48] but that seems like...

[00:34:50] But you see everybody else that works at the daycare.

[00:34:52] I don't know, man.

[00:34:54] Robert may have gotten another job acting or

[00:34:56] being a sandwich artist.

[00:34:58] I don't know, something.

[00:35:00] I do have to ask.

[00:35:03] Last week I could have sworn

[00:35:05] that Gowen and Lucas

[00:35:06] are taking a phone call back in Capital City.

[00:35:09] Like they're in a different room,

[00:35:11] a big bright yellowish room.

[00:35:13] I thought that Lucas had returned to Capital City,

[00:35:16] but he's back in Hope Valley this week,

[00:35:18] which makes me think...

[00:35:20] I literally said, wait, what?

[00:35:22] I thought he was gone.

[00:35:24] And if he wasn't gone and he's still here,

[00:35:26] why is he still there?

[00:35:28] And if you say the resort,

[00:35:30] I'm going to yell really loud.

[00:35:32] The resort.

[00:35:34] Now, the other thing

[00:35:36] that you need to know is,

[00:35:38] is I'm starting to really worry about Lucas'

[00:35:40] just mental health.

[00:35:42] The governor of an entire Canadian province

[00:35:44] cannot spend this much time

[00:35:47] accounting for

[00:35:49] one one-road town.

[00:35:52] He...

[00:35:54] Hope Valley has one main street.

[00:35:57] Well, it's a bigger town now, as you know.

[00:35:59] And it is...

[00:36:01] Yes, okay, so two one-road towns.

[00:36:03] The governor of this,

[00:36:04] and we know because Capital City

[00:36:06] is a 15-hour train ride away,

[00:36:10] the governor cannot spend this much time

[00:36:13] and energy working on one town,

[00:36:16] especially when that town happens to be

[00:36:19] his residence.

[00:36:21] It just...

[00:36:23] Even in the world of When Calls the Heart,

[00:36:25] doesn't look great.

[00:36:27] Doesn't look great.

[00:36:29] Please tell me we're going to move forward

[00:36:31] and let him govern

[00:36:32] not just the 50 to 60 people

[00:36:35] that live in Hope Valley and Benson Hills.

[00:36:37] That's all I got.

[00:36:39] It's time for Hope's Values,

[00:36:41] where we talk about what in this episode

[00:36:43] gave us hope for the future

[00:36:45] and are bumming us out.

[00:36:50] Jax?

[00:36:52] You know, I hope that we will

[00:36:54] see

[00:36:56] the kiss in the penultimate episode.

[00:36:59] And what's bumming me out is that

[00:37:01] I think Dan is correct.

[00:37:03] I don't think it's coming until the finale.

[00:37:05] I don't think we'll ever get it.

[00:37:07] That's my new position.

[00:37:09] It's never going to happen.

[00:37:11] Nathan's the shooter, it should be.

[00:37:13] I had hope

[00:37:15] and it turned into a valley

[00:37:17] when I realized that it wasn't.

[00:37:19] But when Lee and Rosemary are walking to...

[00:37:21] Because she's going to go

[00:37:23] to talk to Ms. Pike before Ms. Pike shows up.

[00:37:25] And they are carrying

[00:37:27] one little circular suitcase.

[00:37:29] And I'm like, oh, Lee's got

[00:37:31] a little snare drum with him.

[00:37:33] And then I just kept thinking

[00:37:35] about Lee being in a band

[00:37:37] where he plays the snare drum.

[00:37:39] You can see between the YouHit comment

[00:37:41] and this comment

[00:37:43] that you are doing anything aside

[00:37:45] from watching Wynn calls the heart.

[00:37:47] Is that a drum?

[00:37:49] Is that a snare drum?

[00:37:51] Does he have a snare drum?

[00:37:53] Drum circle.

[00:37:55] It turns out it's just for a hat, I think.

[00:37:57] But we never see inside.

[00:37:59] So I guess the dream of

[00:38:01] Lee playing snare drum in a band

[00:38:03] is still alive and well

[00:38:05] and I think it's a great thing.

[00:38:07] Every episode that we don't confirm

[00:38:09] the shooter is another episode

[00:38:11] where we can further the myth

[00:38:13] that Nathan is the shooter.

[00:38:15] And I'm here for that.

[00:38:17] Just saying.

[00:38:19] Makes all the sense in the world.

[00:38:21] What a twist.

[00:38:23] You want to do this right?

[00:38:25] Maybe also preserve

[00:38:27] the mental health of one Elizabeth,

[00:38:29] then this is the way to go.

[00:38:31] Just this would be fantastic.

[00:38:33] And that's my hope.

[00:38:35] So Nathan doesn't have $5

[00:38:37] to give to Allie because he paid

[00:38:39] Pike to take the.

[00:38:41] See, that's right.

[00:38:43] Exactly.

[00:38:45] He can't afford $5

[00:38:47] because he had to bribe

[00:38:49] someone with a hip surgery.

[00:38:52] That's what that's what happened.

[00:38:54] Aaron should be working

[00:38:56] with Rosemary and Bill.

[00:38:58] Yeah, yeah, because they've done

[00:39:00] nothing

[00:39:02] for four episodes.

[00:39:03] Nothing.

[00:39:05] So there we go.

[00:39:07] What's called my heart is where

[00:39:09] we read an email from somebody

[00:39:11] that just lets us know what's

[00:39:13] making you happy right now.

[00:39:15] What's calling your heart?

[00:39:17] Dan, what do we got today?

[00:39:19] You can email us at

[00:39:21] hello at deck the hallmark dot com.

[00:39:23] Hello.

[00:39:24] Tell us what's calling your heart.

[00:39:26] This is from Elizabeth Cullen.

[00:39:28] Hey, we know her.

[00:39:30] Hey, Bran, Dan, Aaron and Jax.

[00:39:31] Here's what's calling my heart

[00:39:33] these days. We're under 60 days

[00:39:35] away from Bramble Fest in July.

[00:39:37] That's true.

[00:39:39] In-person tickets on sale now.

[00:39:41] Deck the hallmark dot com slash

[00:39:43] fast. Never as a group of

[00:39:45] previous strangers had so much

[00:39:47] fun in such a short amount of

[00:39:49] time. Plans are progressing

[00:39:51] nicely for my trip to Scotland

[00:39:53] with fellow double-decker

[00:39:55] Christie. Top of the to-do list,

[00:39:57] a lace factory.

[00:39:59] OK, thanks, Elizabeth, for

[00:40:01] your hours. Christmas is truly

[00:40:03] come early. How dare you? First

[00:40:05] of all, yeah, we usually don't

[00:40:07] do a great job with it. I

[00:40:09] believe there may be ice forming

[00:40:11] in a previously hot place in the

[00:40:13] universe as always wishing you

[00:40:15] the best. See you all in July.

[00:40:17] Elizabeth, a.k.a. the general

[00:40:19] Elizabeth. Thank you so much.

[00:40:21] And Jax can attest we typically

[00:40:23] return text very quickly.

[00:40:25] But emails, it's a mixed bag.

[00:40:27] I would say I've given us

[00:40:29] credit on mixed bag.

[00:40:31] That's right. Yeah.

[00:40:33] They don't want to come fast.

[00:40:35] Come join us a brand of

[00:40:37] this is gonna be a lot of fun.

[00:40:39] Thank you, Jax. You're the best.

[00:40:41] Thank you, of course, to

[00:40:43] Filo for continuing to support

[00:40:45] us. You can watch this show and

[00:40:47] when calls the whole heart all

[00:40:51] wish all in one place.

[00:40:53] Follow up to these as DTH.

[00:40:55] If you would like to do that,

[00:40:57] we'll be back tomorrow with a

[00:40:59] little a little Brendan Penny

[00:41:01] and a little bit of good stuff.

[00:41:03] Until then, remember the first

[00:41:05] wish you a merry Christmas.

[00:41:35] that you're either listening or

[00:41:37] don't listen. It's really up to

[00:41:39] you at this point. Is that the

[00:41:41] end of the show? I mean, you're

[00:41:43] listening to me. Hi. But here

[00:41:45] they come. I promise. They're
