[00:00:00] Hi, I'm Bram and I love when calls the heart

[00:00:04] Hi, I'm Jax and I like when calls the heart

[00:00:07] I'm Dan and I despise when calls the heart and this is the deck all my podcast

[00:00:14] Markets is podcast

[00:00:16] Oh

[00:00:33] Great to be back here today talking about when calls the heart

[00:00:36] We're getting close getting close to the end there. Mm-hmm. We are two-thirds of the way done with this season

[00:00:43] Not that any of us are counting

[00:00:45] I think you know and the progress we've made since episode one where Lucas is governor

[00:00:51] We don't know who shot him. They're gonna build a resort, but they've got some complications and Nathan and Elizabeth haven't yet kissed since then to now

[00:00:58] I you know

[00:01:00] I just feel like if you looked at the show then and now it's like measure my kids up against the wall with a pin every

[00:01:05] Year, you wouldn't even recognize this show now versus the problems

[00:01:08] We had all the way back in season in in episode one of this season. We've done so much

[00:01:13] Characters have gotten richer. They've moved and progressed forward. You get it. It's beautiful. Thanks for laying that out. That was beautiful

[00:01:21] Jax how was your Memorial Day? We talked about it yesterday. I know obviously we did how how was it? Was it good?

[00:01:27] It was a delight

[00:01:29] It was I celebrated

[00:01:33] Both my nieces and Alex's birthdays. So that was fun

[00:01:37] Yeah, so it was great. And I'm looking forward to a summer of fun in the Sun

[00:01:44] Maybe I'll finally do a collective birthday party for all though. We did too. We did two separate parties, but I went to

[00:01:50] Both I feel like some of that might be a little too young for Alex

[00:01:54] I always get like a cake at 9 a.m.

[00:01:58] I loved the smash cake

[00:02:00] You're so excited about the next smash cake

[00:02:04] Smash cake. Did you get smash cakes for your kids or they?

[00:02:10] Cake is is like yeah, it's big on the first birthday first birthday smash cake. That's it

[00:02:16] Okay, I didn't know though if your kids were even too old for that because I remember even in my early years of nannying the

[00:02:21] Smash cake wasn't really

[00:02:23] My kids and then starting at two we've done pull apart cupcake cakes

[00:02:28] So it looks like a cake but there and then you just let your kids have I remember

[00:02:33] Distinctly my children being two in high chairs just jamming cupcakes in their mouth and they couldn't believe they could

[00:02:40] Really want a cupcake. Yeah, I know now

[00:02:43] My kids turned eight this Saturday or my kids turned eight last how was it?

[00:02:48] It was amazing had a pull apart cake party at the old trampoline Park. It was a blast

[00:02:54] We had a lot of fun. I wasn't there. No you were going in Florida

[00:02:58] Specifically, yeah, you got you went on vacation to avoid my kids bird. I did but now I just really want cupcakes

[00:03:04] Well, you could add as many as you wanted if you'd been there on Saturday

[00:03:07] I really I just text my wife and said I really want cupcakes

[00:03:12] I love that. You were like, I really want cupcakes. This seems like a Caitlyn problem. It just it just sounds like

[00:03:19] I don't know. She makes really good cupcakes and I don't know how to do that

[00:03:24] Like homemade cup. Yes. Yeah

[00:03:30] I'm not a huge cake answer me and maybe I didn't answer a question

[00:03:38] Answer her question you ignored

[00:03:43] Caitlyn asked you what I'm assuming was an important question

[00:03:48] You didn't answer that and then you tell your wife that you want some cupcakes. That's things

[00:03:53] But yeah, I didn't see it cuz it came in what is you are you are every sitcom husband?

[00:04:01] Like Kevin James and Ray Ramon, you're all of them you're all of those just doofuses without two brain cells to rub together

[00:04:09] cupcakes

[00:04:10] I did answer and now she said I got you boo. So great. Everything's good great cupcakes

[00:04:29] Yeah, this is what I have to work with

[00:04:33] Yeah

[00:04:34] Shall we talk about when calls the heart season 11 episode 8 called?

[00:04:40] Get out of here cowboy

[00:04:44] Jack's

[00:04:46] Retribution. Yeah

[00:04:48] No, it's brightness is a dish best served with a warm heart. That's a long title. It's Brothers Keeper

[00:04:56] Mmm, that makes sense brothers

[00:04:58] It originally aired on May 26 2024 and a little something like this Tom is still sad

[00:05:05] He's sitting in Elizabeth's backyard

[00:05:07] Tom again

[00:05:09] Jack's brother. Thanks. That's a good question. People might be coming in and might be confused

[00:05:13] She confront. I'm sorry comforts him not confronts him

[00:05:17] Why are you sad?

[00:05:18] She comforts him and just then Nathan shows up and tells them that Sweeney the guy

[00:05:24] Who was a real con man there is in custody and the good news is they got all the Hope Valley money back

[00:05:31] Yeah, they did the bad news on him in time is the other two towns

[00:05:36] he only did the hills and

[00:05:42] Scrap strawberry scrubber scrubbery just got a bill for those farms. They are money's gone

[00:05:48] He's a gambler and he gave all the money away

[00:05:52] Nathan explains to Elizabeth there is a chance that Tom's gonna have to be arrested

[00:05:56] accessory to the crime

[00:05:59] They'll figure it out Rosemary and Lee are talking about their day and Rosemary is like how's the band going Lee and Lee's like

[00:06:10] That was just for listeners a deck the hallmark that was just for you guys just the ones that care about the drum

[00:06:16] That's right last Rosemary and Lee are talking about their day and Rosemary explains that

[00:06:22] Pike is gonna be rolling into town

[00:06:25] Nathan made it happen. Now. We're gonna get some answers

[00:06:29] That's exactly right. They're hoping to interview him. This is news to Lee. He's not so sure about about this. He's like

[00:06:35] She's like

[00:06:37] Just then there's another

[00:06:40] Emergency choir meeting where Tom tells everybody about what happened that they're all gonna get their money back

[00:06:47] But you know

[00:06:48] It's not great for everybody else. So they agree. They need to do something

[00:06:52] We gotta put our heads together, but help me. What's hot hurting put on a show. What's hurting our neighbors is hurt not

[00:06:59] Save the max save the max

[00:07:01] They decide they're gonna do a fundraiser a big choir

[00:07:05] Choir choir in the valley where the heat is on and we'll do a big fundraiser and everybody will get their money back

[00:07:12] As they're talking about this

[00:07:14] Frickin sister co-mayor walks up and finds out that

[00:07:19] There's no there's the choir has lost the money and she's like they said throw him in jail

[00:07:24] And they're like we're gonna raise the money and then if he doesn't raise the money then we'll throw him in jail

[00:07:29] So listen, he is only so much he can do. That's right. Really? He's got a follow-up. He puts incarceration up to a contest

[00:07:37] Yes

[00:07:40] And that's in the same episode where we find out they change them in the Mounties to the mounted police

[00:07:44] Yeah, just fascinating Wow, that does happen. Thanks. I didn't put it in here

[00:07:49] Pike gets into town and they go to talk to him and Rosemary says hey, buddy boy

[00:07:56] I think that you were paid to take the fall and help your mom pay for her hip cuz she's hip

[00:08:03] All they want to know is who paid you who paid you and he just lays down in his bed

[00:08:12] and looks sad

[00:08:15] Guess who's in coming into town

[00:08:18] Jack

[00:08:19] James Brolin Jacob judge Jacob Jacob who is Joseph's brother Joseph finally

[00:08:27] it's where eight episodes in it's finally happening and

[00:08:32] He comes in and sees the kids and they're like, oh my gosh, it's uncle Jacob. This is amazing

[00:08:37] But when Jacob says he's only gonna stay if Joseph finally apologizes

[00:08:42] Joseph once again doubles down and says I don't know what to apologize

[00:08:47] For and he says if you I if I have to explain it, you're never gonna know

[00:08:52] So I'm out of here. He walks out many runs after him tries to convince him to stay. He's not so sure

[00:08:58] Joseph goes to give

[00:09:01] Give this some thought and luckily for him Gowan is there to teach the pastor about forgiveness. Yep

[00:09:07] The guy who killed everyone

[00:09:09] He's gonna teach the pastor about forgiveness

[00:09:13] Lucas goes to talk to talk to Pike off the books. Of course, he tells the Mounties scram. I'm the governor

[00:09:19] I'm gonna talk to this guy in the middle of the night the books and he says hey, I

[00:09:25] Got a question for you

[00:09:27] Want to build a snowman? Why?

[00:09:31] And

[00:09:32] He says if I tell you I'm a dead man

[00:09:35] I'm a dead man. So that's pretty serious

[00:09:40] It's time for the festival and it is poppin folks are there they are singing

[00:09:45] It is a rip-roaring good time Tom sells Nathan that he approves of him and Elizabeth

[00:09:51] Didn't know that he needed to do that, but we did he didn't that's nice as they're

[00:09:57] Taking Pike away again. He tells them to drop this or else it's not gonna be good for anybody

[00:10:04] You don't know the man you're messing try it Nathan try

[00:10:09] Why

[00:10:12] He's saying it to the

[00:10:14] Nathan's right there right there. Nathan's right there escorting him into the car and he looks right past Nathan

[00:10:20] Oh, wow, you saw his eye line. Yeah. Wow. Yeah, I was clocking his eye

[00:10:28] I always say that he's

[00:10:35] So

[00:10:36] Joseph is still there and I'm sorry. Jacob is still there and Joseph finally apologized to him

[00:10:42] But Jacob is not satisfied by this. He says hey, man, you stop singing with me when

[00:10:48] You stop singing with me when you met Winnie and that made me sad

[00:10:53] We sang a lot and now we don't you met your girl and you're like I can't sing with you anymore

[00:10:58] You and you know what? This just isn't enough. Don't this isn't enough for me

[00:11:02] They've raised some good money, but they're still about a hundred dollars short Lucas walks in and says I

[00:11:08] Just found out the governor's cultural

[00:11:11] governor's cultural fund

[00:11:13] Exists and it exists for just this purpose

[00:11:16] And so we're gonna here's $100 easy peasy lemon squeezy Tom's not gonna get arrested. That's wonderful

[00:11:22] It's time for the choir sing and there Jacob comes on stage and joins them and they sing amazing grace

[00:11:28] Joseph and Jacob together again singing singing about the good Lord afterwards Jacob and Joseph make up they eat a good meal together and

[00:11:38] Maybe that's the end of it. I don't know

[00:11:40] Episode arc, that's the end of it

[00:11:42] Gowan finds out that Luke is called

[00:11:45] Montague at the end of last episode and

[00:11:48] He's like man. That's a big mistake, bro, and he explained Lucas was like, here's the thing man the oil bit there's oils done

[00:11:58] oils done

[00:12:00] favorite plot point of the history

[00:12:01] So if if if I will do whatever I have to do to make sure this resort happens and Gowan says well

[00:12:08] Can I remind you that we do have a bid from your southern booth thing?

[00:12:13] And he says don't talk about her

[00:12:15] I told you anyone else including Monica would be a better a better choice than my southern booth

[00:12:24] That's pretty serious stuff Elizabeth

[00:12:27] There everybody's dancing and having a good time Elizabeth looks over Nathan's being a little goober kind of like getting swatting

[00:12:33] Swatting tree branches out of his eyes. It's cute. Tom's like go get him tiger

[00:12:37] so she does go get him because it's the 20s and

[00:12:40] They start to dance with each other and they're staring at each other as one

[00:12:45] right before they kiss and

[00:12:48] Fade to black that's either episode of that my first was

[00:12:53] Brothers keeper

[00:12:57] I'll say a quick break. We'll come back. We will break this episode down here on the hallmark you can

[00:13:06] Welcome back you little boogers coming back for more little boogers

[00:13:20] Excited about cake and then like

[00:13:27] You little boogers, let's talk about brothers keeper

[00:13:31] Promise keeper light in the dark

[00:13:34] Winkles heart season 11 episode 8. Let's break it down. We're gonna start with

[00:13:38] The hot take and I'm gonna start with Jax Jax. What do you think of brothers keeper?

[00:13:45] so this could also be for reasons that

[00:13:50] Emotions and feelings that this episode brought up in me which people get to in all the fields

[00:13:55] But this was my favorite episode of the season

[00:14:01] He was in pain, but but it was here's the thing do we is is Hope Valley already

[00:14:08] And when calls aren't already over stuffed with too many characters that we don't have enough time to cover their storylines and these excellent actors

[00:14:15] In some ways aren't getting to to flex their talents. Yes, but I actually am really enjoying the other

[00:14:24] characters and actors they're bringing in Maisie is still cracking me up and

[00:14:28] Let's talk about Jerome Bell who plays Jacob in this episode hallmark staple Jerome Bell a hallmark staple

[00:14:35] I want to go ahead and say I hope I'm not overstepping here

[00:14:39] But we had an innocent flirtation on Instagram a few years ago

[00:14:44] And I thought about it ever since innocent innocent flirtation flirtation

[00:14:49] By the way, Jerome Bell really good

[00:14:52] I did see them. What was what was it? Like, what is that? What does that mean? Walk us through it? I

[00:15:04] You can't say it and then

[00:15:07] I hope no, this is this is years ago. This is years ago

[00:15:11] He was on the bubbly sash and he was messaging the bubbly session

[00:15:19] It's a it's a show that

[00:15:21] Actually, all the episodes are gone now and the Instagram has been pretty much wiped clean so there's there's basically no

[00:15:29] Yeah

[00:15:32] He had said something about

[00:15:34] Me being cute in the bubbly sesh DMS and I didn't see it because I wasn't looking the bubbly sesh DMS

[00:15:40] And then I found it eventually and message him was like, oh, thank you so much like right back at you

[00:15:47] So that was that was our little and that was it did he respond to that or is that that was the end

[00:15:54] You got it, yeah

[00:15:55] Yeah, actually, it's probably a lot

[00:15:57] It's probably like either non-existent or there's like pages and pages of back and forth. It's complete. Let me

[00:16:06] Find this message and it turns out he wasn't talking about you. Oh, no, I

[00:16:13] Context oh

[00:16:15] No, okay, let's see going back

[00:16:19] Okay, okay, it's June 13th 2020. Oh boy

[00:16:27] Yeah, I

[00:16:29] Think I will be flying high on the cutest Hall comment from now until forever

[00:16:33] Let's get all my movie together. That was so much fun today. Thank you, and he wrote back you really are though

[00:16:39] Thanks for giving me the most relaxed interview. I've ever had kudos missy

[00:16:43] True

[00:16:48] Kudos missy

[00:16:50] Is we would never take this and post it on social media and we would never like Lee Hoda would never like just clip it

[00:16:58] To where it would just be reading and then tag him

[00:17:03] We wouldn't do that not on this program. We're here to watch what goes the heart not for hijinks and shenanigans

[00:17:10] No, not not even a little bit I feel like I'm gonna have to message him to give my heads up this conversation happened

[00:17:17] But what would you want to say?

[00:17:20] He and Viv Leacock

[00:17:22] They're they're seen in this episode

[00:17:25] where they're talking about

[00:17:27] Their feelings. This is something I never thought I'd see on when calls the heart to black men who can act the crap

[00:17:35] out of a scene having this

[00:17:38] Amazing dialogue, like I just did not think this would happen in one calls the heart which was like the most whitewash show

[00:17:44] Sometimes like didn't give me the substance. I wanted I thought this scene was

[00:17:49] Incredible and I just loved it

[00:17:51] So like that this is what made this episode like top-notch for me my favorite of the season

[00:17:57] I think this is good. I shouldn't I'm not even gonna say it. Wow, please do no

[00:18:02] I just think I'm what you said is like I get it

[00:18:06] I and it's not fair for me to say

[00:18:09] The show can be one of the other but in my very binary mind

[00:18:14] We can have this Hope Valley or we can have the times up Hope Valley

[00:18:19] We either have to live in a in this world where it all works and all the races are together and we treat people well

[00:18:25] With respect and when there's it when there's something wrong, we fix it or we can have a real-world Hope Valley where things happen

[00:18:33] and there is misogyny and chauvinism and and I

[00:18:37] Yeah, and I know that that's not fair of me

[00:18:40] It just isn't fair of me because I think this show really is just designed to give people what they what they want or need

[00:18:45] In any given week so I get that I just for me

[00:18:48] That's the tone-deaf part of it a part of not all of it, but part of it

[00:18:52] So I get it though. What you said was great. I don't disagree with that. I

[00:18:58] Liked it. I like this episode. I did feel like it was you know, it felt almost like

[00:19:05] a

[00:19:06] Two-parter, you know back in the day when they would do two parter. Yeah, I like a two part

[00:19:11] couplets

[00:19:13] Just a quick little arc Tom Tom thing done. It's great. So that was a nice little continuation a two-parter

[00:19:21] Was it a two-parter?

[00:19:23] And so I like that

[00:19:26] I

[00:19:27] still just have questions about the

[00:19:30] legality of

[00:19:31] Requesting Pike be brought into Hope Valley

[00:19:35] By Nathan, I want to be clear. What's your thought there? Why would Nathan?

[00:19:39] Why would Nathan do that if he's the killer he first of all, he was already being transferred

[00:19:44] We don't know why he was being transferred

[00:19:48] Nathan didn't call up and go. Can you bring the prisoner here? He rerouted the transfer so

[00:19:54] The prisoner Pike was already supposed to be on the move

[00:19:57] I don't know why okay, but he was and Nathan was like this is easy. I can reroute the transfer. So

[00:20:02] He's the shooter

[00:20:05] Because he he's making sure I mean I can reroute it like

[00:20:11] It's like Bill Avery calling up and getting whatever file he wants

[00:20:14] It doesn't make any sense at all

[00:20:15] But that's what he did now remember Pike didn't see the actual shooter

[00:20:20] Pike was paid to take the fall act hurt be indignant. He was paid to take the fall

[00:20:25] So having Pike come in just makes Nathan look more innocent. It's exactly what a good murderer would do

[00:20:37] Do the best I can not know

[00:20:40] Dan yeah, this is kind of rock-bottom

[00:20:43] Every every season of when calls the heart. Come on. This wasn't a bad episode. Well, yeah. No, I disagree

[00:20:50] I this was right for me. This is my least favorite and I'll tell you why it's my least favorite is because

[00:20:56] We set our from the beginning we we have all agreed the three major

[00:21:01] tent poles of this season were the resort

[00:21:05] Nathan and Elizabeth and what's the other one? I've already forgotten it. What's the other one who shot? Oh, who's not who shot?

[00:21:13] Lucas and

[00:21:15] For the life of me

[00:21:16] Why does it win cause the heart just make an HBO max six episode season if you're gonna do this for eight straight episodes?

[00:21:23] And literally have characters go nowhere and do nothing

[00:21:27] you may as well just cut all that fat out of there and

[00:21:30] And get us to where the plot progress because we're gonna get a little bit of progression here in the last three episodes

[00:21:35] There's good. Thanks. Oh, there's gonna be something an episode

[00:21:39] I'm gonna guess ten where brands gonna be like it's bow. It's just oh, this is good

[00:21:43] Oh if they do this and then by 12, he's gonna be back on board

[00:21:48] Why not just make episodes 1 2 & 3 and then make episodes 10 11 12 and

[00:21:55] Everybody still gets to be on the show and they moved

[00:21:58] I'm not asking for it to be at Bridgerton pace. Like you said was that last week? I was last week

[00:22:02] I'm not asking for that. I'm just asking that it moves

[00:22:06] Forward and yes, we have some pleasant distractions

[00:22:08] I have all kinds of problems with the brothers subplot, but I get it

[00:22:12] I thought it was well acted and

[00:22:14] Then they're singing amazing grace

[00:22:15] One of them is one of his lip-syncing neither here nor there like they're singing amazing grace

[00:22:19] And then you've got Tom coming into town and people haven't seen him in a while. So you've got some distractions, but

[00:22:26] Make no mistake for the first time in a while

[00:22:29] We had some like legitimate questions and they just don't they're not they're not interested in those right now

[00:22:34] Let's just wait till the end for that. And so and then we have a talent show

[00:22:39] Then you just tack on the town of Hope Valley

[00:22:43] Using their very amateur talents to raise money

[00:22:47] It's a party planning talent show brand on top of the fact the show spinning its wheels do like a talent show

[00:22:53] I I really really like felt my age

[00:22:58] Talent show Jax

[00:23:01] Yeah

[00:23:06] Just think

[00:23:07] please

[00:23:08] the anthracite

[00:23:10] Citizens theater talent show. I don't want to brag when Jerome Bell finds out about that and I can't

[00:23:16] The anthrax drive in from that one

[00:23:19] You guys have done talent shows, right? I never had a sound show actually really. No, you're both very talented

[00:23:25] They weren't like I feel like maybe like a summer camp or something but not like

[00:23:31] We didn't have I didn't need to everyone knew

[00:23:35] You're like doing battle the band. Yeah, it's like whatever like who cares, you know, but this is just another thing for me

[00:23:41] So talented. Why would you stoop to town?

[00:23:44] Some of us didn't have anything else

[00:23:46] Some of us like didn't even start on the basketball team that their parents coached some of us needed to do other things

[00:23:52] Coach the basketball team

[00:23:54] Yeah, my parents coached the team

[00:23:55] My sister was a star player and they told me they couldn't start me because it would just seem like too much

[00:24:02] Yeah

[00:24:08] I play five sports in high school Jack

[00:24:10] So I was on the opposite side of that

[00:24:12] I bet I missed out on some fun talent shows and I say that in all sincerity not as a bit

[00:24:16] I

[00:24:18] Would have got if I could go back to high school, I would play fewer sports. There's no like I would still yes

[00:24:24] Absolutely. I would still 100% play basketball, but I would not be five sports in

[00:24:31] In three seasons like I did. What were they? I played baseball. I

[00:24:36] Played tennis and golf the seasons were at the same time

[00:24:39] But I played both because I could start for both and so the coaches were willing to let me do

[00:24:44] Both and then I ran cross-country and I would definitely not run cross-country. I probably I enjoyed tennis quite a bit

[00:24:51] I probably would not play baseball or cross-country or golf

[00:24:56] I probably would have just played the other two and been been like more well-rounded as an individual. I'm serious

[00:25:03] Five brand no

[00:25:06] You did basketball McNasty, I didn't make he didn't make the team in middle school and I gave up

[00:25:14] Bran I

[00:25:17] Yeah, my parents were the coaches

[00:25:23] They're like we we are some folks up in mine country in Pennsylvania have gone soft and they've left their kid make the team even

[00:25:30] Though they don't deserve it

[00:25:32] Oh

[00:25:36] Spirit over yeah

[00:25:38] Yeah, we're just we're talented in other ways. Yeah, of course. We just said we had to find them

[00:25:43] Yeah, you define them

[00:25:44] It's time for the way some of all the fields we're talking about what in this episode gave us feels Jackson

[00:25:48] You talked a little bit about why you liked something. I assume that might have something to do with your skills

[00:25:53] Yes, so, um

[00:25:56] So I you know, my grandma passed away in November

[00:25:59] I really miss her the last time that I talked to her on FaceTime

[00:26:03] I sang amazing grace for her when I was at her bedside when she was passing away

[00:26:08] Which I was there for I sang amazing grace for her and then at the funeral

[00:26:12] I sang amazing grace and right before I watch this episode. I was like, oh man, I really miss you

[00:26:18] Like I I was talking myself out loud. I was like, please just like send me a sign that you're like

[00:26:24] So I just about

[00:26:27] Lost my gosh-darn mind. I know it's amazing grace

[00:26:30] I know it's sung a lot, but I felt like I was just asking for a sign and she's like, okay girl

[00:26:35] I'm here so that I

[00:26:38] Lost my ever-loving mind and could not stop crying

[00:26:42] So for me, that was just a big feel that my man still watching me and is letting me know through

[00:26:49] That's right, that's right

[00:26:53] You know what I tell you I'm feel bad that I told you that I hated this episode

[00:26:58] Story no, we can't know no

[00:27:00] But I also I also know enough to know that like the beauty of art if we're calling this art

[00:27:06] Which sure media is that it can evoke things in us?

[00:27:10] Yeah, it actually are not maybe even related to the quality of said media, correct

[00:27:16] I think that's the beautiful thing about

[00:27:19] Like just engaging with like I have best time with you guys talking about this show

[00:27:24] I totally believe you can see a bad movie

[00:27:27] But if you catch it at the right time in your life, it can be transformed into a very poignant great movie

[00:27:34] It's like chicken little

[00:27:38] I would have normally hated it. But you know, you know, you love that

[00:27:47] So

[00:27:50] Yeah, I'll go with Jack's I

[00:27:54] Didn't sing amazing grace at my grandma's funeral, but I did sing so close enough I spoke at my grandma's funeral

[00:28:01] saying oh

[00:28:03] I sang a song called beautiful things not the newer one, but a different one sing beautiful by James

[00:28:09] I

[00:28:19] Spoke at my grandma's funeral and I'd love to speak extemporaneously without manuscript notes

[00:28:24] But I wrote it all down because I knew if I didn't I would just lose it and then second the last paragraph

[00:28:30] I had to take a long long breather there and then I made it I powered through and made it and

[00:28:36] You know

[00:28:37] You like ripping the podium when you took the breath

[00:28:39] I just I need like I have to have a cold drink with me all the time

[00:28:43] And I think that part of that is me like wanting to stay hydrated

[00:28:46] But another part of that to me is it's kind of like my like security blanket

[00:28:49] Like I don't know if ever I feel like I'm off track or something

[00:28:52] I just take a drink of water and I just kind of reset

[00:28:54] Now we're in now we're in thank you. Now. We're in therapy, which is cool

[00:29:00] Awesome

[00:29:03] Shout out to grandma's everyone enough. I also maybe it's cuz I didn't want to watch the episode, but I

[00:29:09] The the mayor of Benson Hills the co-mayor now of the town is named Maisie and I had an aunt

[00:29:18] Maisie gray, I try to say good

[00:29:21] I

[00:29:28] Guess I just was trying to think about anything else other than when I if you have a spare moment

[00:29:33] Go on YouTube type in take take the day off cherries Jubilee Day

[00:29:39] And you'll find yourself and I used to show

[00:29:43] Great impression cause I used to do a little show go take the day off and cherries Jubilee Day gets away from us in a hurry

[00:29:51] 20 minutes you'll you won't want it back. I promise

[00:29:54] My amazing was my grandma's sister and she was the funniest human being

[00:30:01] So funny had just such an infectious laugh and I just had this weird memory

[00:30:05] Which is weird that you told that story and it's not nearly as sentimental

[00:30:08] But I had this memory of my aunt Maisie

[00:30:11] Got real sick and couldn't come to a lot of Christmases later on and passed away a lot younger than my grandma

[00:30:18] but my grandmother would still

[00:30:21] Give all of the grandkids

[00:30:23] Cash in an envelope and sign it aunt Maisie

[00:30:27] So she would still like get the money out and put it in and you could see it was her handwriting

[00:30:32] But she just was like, you know, aunt Maisie's thinking about you

[00:30:35] And I just I just I had not thought about my aunt Maisie in a long time. So there you go

[00:30:39] We really did it this week

[00:30:44] Yes here but the new grandma McFlurry

[00:30:47] Nope I haven't

[00:30:48] Yeah, it's got like butterscotch in it and like little crumbs from grandma's you making stuff up right now. Oh, no

[00:30:57] You would know it's a we it is a weird

[00:31:01] Press release. Yes. I don't really

[00:31:06] Yeah, it's grandma's McFlurry flavor and it's got a cute little cup and

[00:31:11] Like the scroll down just a little bit the grandma's McFlurry tastes like a trip down memory lane

[00:31:16] And we're excited to give our fans a new experience. We're honoring the grandma figure in all of our lives

[00:31:20] I don't know who asked for it. Nobody exactly but

[00:31:25] It's like yeah digging a spoon into grandma's purse. Oh

[00:31:28] So butter pecan butterscotch strawberry and even peppermint are among some of the most popular flavor guesses for the new McFlurry

[00:31:37] So no one really knows what is but I've heard it's basically butterscotch right

[00:31:42] Original in there some caramel. Yeah, gotta be

[00:31:46] I don't know like it's just really random but good good for him. Yeah good for him

[00:31:51] Not sponsored. We'll be right back here. I take the home. I'm a codec

[00:32:03] I'm hungry. Yeah

[00:32:06] Cupcakes I want french fries me too and a coke. Mmm. Oh

[00:32:14] Let's go

[00:32:18] Promo code dick it's not for white waters. We're talking about what in this episode made us go wait, what?

[00:32:25] Do you it sounded like Ali's voice was dubbed when she was singing and it sounded like Regina Spektor and I was

[00:32:33] Completely in on it because I love Regina Spektor, but did anyone think that that was not Ali's voice?

[00:32:38] No, I mean it was good. It was good the singing was good

[00:32:41] Astonishingly good by a lot of people in this episode

[00:32:45] She's the only one that I thought I don't think that's her

[00:32:48] I don't know like I I have no and it's not anything against the actor

[00:32:52] I just I just didn't it didn't sound like her to me, but that's

[00:32:56] Wouldn't surprise me if she could sing, you know, she's a probably, you know a talented little actor who can sing probably so I

[00:33:06] assume that all

[00:33:08] Kid actors also sing on the side. I was just like that's Regina Spektor and I couldn't

[00:33:17] Shout out Regina Spector. I'm listening to later. Oh so good. Well, you mean some french fries? Oh my gosh. Yeah

[00:33:24] Yo, is it a heaven I'm sitting down listening to Regina Spector eating a cupcake with some french fries with my friends. Oh my gosh

[00:33:41] I don't know who it's for aside from us Jacks, but we'll have a great time

[00:33:46] Call it the green room

[00:33:49] Cry about our grandmas

[00:33:51] I think we'll get a lot of people in that room. Yeah, was that it?

[00:33:58] Was that your one that you bring for the week?

[00:34:00] Yeah, and you're gonna let us take my one that I brought for the week. Other than that flawless flawless episode

[00:34:07] So, I don't like I guess like I don't know what this festival is the voices of the valley

[00:34:15] But there's also like a lot of

[00:34:18] People that don't live in Hope Valley there

[00:34:20] I'm assuming because I thought we knew all yeah, all the people of color in town and all of a sudden there's so many

[00:34:28] Yeah, and I don't like I don't know if they hurt like if people heard hey Jacobs coming into town

[00:34:36] Well, everybody is gonna come into town. I don't know what happens

[00:34:40] I don't know what happened, but there's a lot of people at the at the festival

[00:34:45] That's not I didn't I've never seen them before there were more extras on this episode than I've seen in a long time

[00:34:51] Yep, and so do you know what the festival was Jack's? Did you have a good handle on it?

[00:34:56] Maybe Benson Hills was there too

[00:34:58] Yeah

[00:35:00] You know, I think I guess they invited all of the people that got

[00:35:04] Scammed and is that just well that was my thought too, but then it was like voices of the valley

[00:35:09] It's not called voices of the hill. The hills are alive with sound of music. It's called voices of the valley

[00:35:14] You know, I I'm gonna say I think I think we've given it more thought than they know

[00:35:21] Fair enough. No fair enough at the end though when they are when the whole Valley choir is on stage

[00:35:28] Cooper's there

[00:35:31] Not saying not saying not even leave mouth closed Cooper sitting down just be like this is a good time

[00:35:37] The vibes are great

[00:35:39] I'm so happy. My uncle's on stage wish I knew the words to him. I don't know

[00:35:45] This song's great. This song is awesome

[00:35:49] Like it's like he like well walked up there and then was like, oh

[00:35:55] Did his uncle go come up and take his place

[00:35:58] Like I sit down. No, he's in the back back there. Just like just serum

[00:36:02] No

[00:36:02] But like say is that why I'm not singing like hey

[00:36:04] We can only have so many people singing like because you know, the voices will get lost

[00:36:07] So he's gonna come in I'll tag in you tag out, but he can stay on stage

[00:36:12] Is nice?

[00:36:14] Also at the end when they finally sit down and have a meal together

[00:36:19] They're wearing the same outfit

[00:36:21] And I I don't know why they are but they're wearing the same outfit and that's how you know

[00:36:27] They're brothers, right people. That's how

[00:36:30] The same exact all the same exact and so what is there any other way guys

[00:36:35] Any other way we could show people that they're brothers

[00:36:40] That would do it I

[00:36:44] Found I found that to be

[00:36:46] funny

[00:36:48] I just found it so coincidental that this decades-long riff between these brothers happened to be about singing. I

[00:36:55] Mean even in this show water. What are the I was pretty underwhelmed by the what the what the riff was?

[00:37:01] Yeah, weren't you pretty underwhelmed Jax after all of this talk?

[00:37:05] Yeah, I was I was like, how are you gonna get us out of this one?

[00:37:08] Like the whole thing that they were like, I'm not even gonna tell you why I'm mad at you and it was like

[00:37:12] What is it gonna be?

[00:37:14] Yeah, so I thought it was the only way that we could get out of it, honestly, but they

[00:37:19] Themselves in no corner. I don't blame

[00:37:22] Joseph for not knowing not knowing that that would be I do everything but I do have a point there. I like

[00:37:28] The pastor of the church looks at his own brother and says I can't apologize

[00:37:35] Until you tell me what I should be apologizing for that is fundamentally not true

[00:37:40] the fact that

[00:37:42] Gowan the guy that murdered all the miners

[00:37:45] has to

[00:37:47] explain to Joseph

[00:37:50] how to

[00:37:51] Empathize with someone and how the impact of your actions is more important than the intent of your actions is

[00:37:59] absurd

[00:38:01] And I'm gonna tell you right now

[00:38:02] I'll just preach a little bit for you right now

[00:38:04] If you watch that scene and went nah Joseph shouldn't apologize. There's someone you need to apologize to

[00:38:11] Right now there's someone that you've done wrong

[00:38:14] And since you've it's not been spelled out for you

[00:38:16] If it's not been spelled out for you you feel like you're off the hook that's just not how it works

[00:38:22] If someone's hurt, even if you feel like you're in the right you still do the right thing

[00:38:28] You go to them and you go it's clear something I've done has hurt you and that's not okay

[00:38:34] And I apologize that is

[00:38:38] Just one on one of apologies. Are you kidding me right now?

[00:38:42] the pastor

[00:38:45] Doesn't understand that impact over intent the pastor doesn't understand it

[00:38:54] One more stanza

[00:39:07] Yeah, so that was kind of a bummer that the pastor is bad at pastoring and Bible reading

[00:39:14] I

[00:39:17] Preaching the gospel his blind spot is the gospel

[00:39:21] Nailed it um do nice gospel joke there. Yeah, thank you

[00:39:26] Here's the yeah sure did

[00:39:29] I sure did

[00:39:30] We all did uh

[00:39:32] here's the thing

[00:39:34] this

[00:39:35] fundraiser the valley of the voice or the voices of the valley is

[00:39:39] Trying to raise money and you know where they could have found some money your butt in

[00:39:44] I

[00:39:47] Got'em

[00:39:48] They could have definitely also found money in the voices of the valley sign they created with no less than 30

[00:39:55] tiny incandescent light bulbs around it in 1920

[00:39:59] Maybe no sign and you have the money that was for inside. That wasn't the big sign out front

[00:40:06] That was for the inside. Maybe maybe that's how you could have could have could have helped out there

[00:40:10] I'm gonna go ahead and call it

[00:40:12] I tried not to be this guy, but I'm gonna go and call it

[00:40:14] Lucas is the most corrupt governor in the history of God Wow look it up

[00:40:19] And I'm including like all the bad governors everywhere in that

[00:40:24] Number one guys. I just got an email from McDonald's that says try our new sweet McFlurry what yeah

[00:40:31] Episodes kid you not man right now. God is good all the time all the big flurries skip Nana's candy bowl. What's in it?

[00:40:38] What?

[00:40:39] It's creamy vanilla soft-serve made with crunchy chopped candy pieces what kind of candy candy pieces, okay?

[00:40:47] Great

[00:40:49] Lucas is most corrupt governor in the history of governors. He's still in Hope Valley

[00:40:53] He's trying to build a resort for just Hope Valley and then he decides to appropriate government funds

[00:41:01] to pay a debt of

[00:41:04] someone in Hope Valley

[00:41:05] Dude just for two seconds try to act like there's an entire world out there

[00:41:11] Aside from Hope Valley the fact that you can't do it

[00:41:14] I just can't believe it and then last but not least Bran brought it up

[00:41:17] Brian are you still with us or you just locked in there was a it said in the email

[00:41:22] There's a live poll in the app which I have so I open it up grandma poll

[00:41:28] How would your grandma say she loves you a long hugs be sneaking me McD's money?

[00:41:35] see

[00:41:36] See staring at me while I eat

[00:41:39] No, look

[00:41:43] Pole long hugs

[00:41:46] My grandma loved to order pizza for my brother and I she it was that it was like the highlight for 47% said

[00:41:53] 12% of people said staring at me while I yeah, that's a big deal staring at my grandma lived to tell me to slow down

[00:41:59] eating pizza

[00:42:01] Would be like

[00:42:02] Slow down. Yeah going anywhere and that was just for her. It wasn't for me because I wasn't slowing down

[00:42:07] This is so sneaky after I answered that one question. I say next question

[00:42:13] It says unlock the rest after you get your grandma McFlurry

[00:42:20] So you didn't want a grandma McFlurry but now that you get more questions

[00:42:26] Dude you are so cool

[00:42:28] I'll say it

[00:42:31] Lucas's trump card when deciding to use bad money to build this resort is

[00:42:37] The oil company just declared bankruptcy if an oil company in

[00:42:43] 1920 in North America cannot make it then it is the apocalypse it is done. We are all done

[00:42:49] We don't have any electric like the whole world zombies are alive. It is the ultimate

[00:42:56] The country's never used more oil the economy's never been better

[00:43:00] We've just finished a war if oil companies are filing for bankruptcy in 1920

[00:43:06] We're all in big big big big trouble

[00:43:10] Read a book guys read a book

[00:43:12] It's time for hopes and values. We're talking about what gave us hope for the future and or is bumming us out

[00:43:18] Jax

[00:43:20] I'm hopeful that after seeing this really

[00:43:23] Beautiful dare I say sensual dance between Elizabeth and Nathan that we might actually get that kiss in

[00:43:32] Episode stop it

[00:43:36] They even I for a split second

[00:43:38] I thought maybe we were going to because Tom's like it's the 20s go get him and I was like, oh my gosh

[00:43:43] I guess she's just gonna kiss him while she's

[00:43:47] Do you think we're gonna see tongue when we see the kiss I hope so open mouth at least right

[00:43:52] This is this is the thing is this is how much time we've had to prepare ourselves for a kiss between two

[00:43:59] 40 year old people

[00:44:02] In 1820 they're moving slow was there tongue with Lucas there on the bridge?

[00:44:08] I don't remember there was when they when he she picks him at the end of that

[00:44:12] See when they when they when she runs there was a whole thing where all team Nathan was like

[00:44:16] Elizabeth's a whore dressing like that and kissing people

[00:44:19] Boy

[00:44:24] I'm sure they won't sure they'll love every second of it. Yeah

[00:44:27] And I will too we will all

[00:44:30] We will yeah, no, of course we will if he's not the shoes that your hope your hope is that you'll still will see tongue

[00:44:36] Yeah, my valley is that I think it's gonna be the finale so it's still still in that same

[00:44:41] realm I

[00:44:43] Listen I'm concerned about Pike this guy seems real shook. He seems very concerned about whomever

[00:44:52] Was the person responsible for this whatever be Nathan or otherwise?

[00:44:57] My hope and my valley simultaneously is that that that Pikes gonna die so the Pikes gonna get murdered

[00:45:06] Obviously

[00:45:06] That'd be I hope it happens because it'd be really cool that good action

[00:45:11] Like you what you're describing is a better show. Yeah

[00:45:15] But like what if it did I mean obviously bummed we just met mommy Pike and so like I feel like a little bit

[00:45:23] feel like a little bit like

[00:45:26] Invested in her, but I it'd be great. Let's kill him I

[00:45:31] And if and I will say this if he does then it's got to be Nathan

[00:45:35] Nathan saw this guy could kind of see the fear in his eyes

[00:45:39] Maybe he's actually gonna give in I gotta make sure yeah, I gotta seal the deal here

[00:45:43] Oh, yeah, if Nathan's killing him no one else has seen the fear in the eyes of Pike aside from Nathan

[00:45:48] You said it man you said it. You know how like that story where your parents like I walked to school

[00:45:54] Uphill both ways that's like me with valleys. It's it's all valleys

[00:45:59] Okay, it's just a valley that goes to a valley like I don't know how geometrically or physically it works

[00:46:03] But that's where I am

[00:46:06] Listen you don't ask questions when it's all valleys you just right you ride through it, and then we'll be done. We'll be done

[00:46:14] I don't know if that answers it, but I'll take it. Yeah. Yeah, that's my

[00:47:15] People probably think I'm crazy. Why is that lady so happy and walking?

[00:47:20] You know walking is probably a lot of reasons you could if you see me out and about in Canada. Yep. That's me

[00:48:19] Your Reese's pieces can kick them up the ever-loving streets all my love and respect

[00:48:25] Tandy takes when she when Tandy spells it out

[00:48:30] Phonetically I still see Reese's so I mean, I think she thinks she's trying to get us to say

[00:48:35] Reese's Reese's like incorrectly. Yeah, whatever. I mean, it's Reese's even she and her pronunciation Tandy. Thanks Tandy

[00:48:41] I appreciate it and I don't really like Reese's pieces so they can kick them up the road

[00:48:45] I would rather have a Reese's cup or a Reese's metal some sort of Reese's flavor milkshake would work for me

[00:48:52] Reese's pieces are not at any chocolate. It's just more peanut butter. They don't really do much for me, dude

[00:48:57] I had the M&M peanut butter M&Ms. They have a mega

[00:49:01] They have a mega M&Ms. What do you mean? It's more peanut butter in there where in the M&M in the candy shell
