[00:04:25] And he's like, I got news about your late husband.

[00:04:28] He tries to make the conversation private, saying, Nathan, you've got to be a part of this.

[00:04:33] And then she's like, I want him to be a part of it.

[00:04:36] So he hands her Jack's commissioner medal, which is the highest honor amount he can get.

[00:04:44] They found it while excavating the site where his corpse was still there.

[00:04:50] And they got it.

[00:04:51] So that's good.

[00:04:53] Then...

[00:05:22] Um, Rosemary is upset that Lee is going to be gone for a while while planning the park.

[00:05:41] Comic books have come to town, uh, to Hope Valley very, uh, much to the concern of all

[00:05:46] They think it's going to be the, you know, all these kids and these violent video games.

[00:05:52] Uh, Lee is pushing back against Lucas's request for him to go to Capital City for the planning

[00:05:59] because it's not in the best interest of the family.

[00:06:02] I just, I have baby now.

[00:06:04] Rosemary is, uh, bothered by the drop of readership of the newspaper due to radio, but she is

[00:06:12] struck with a genius idea.

[00:06:21] Elizabeth goes to talk to Nathan because I think a lot of windows are a few.

[00:06:29] Uh, Elizabeth goes to talk to Nathan because she can feel, uh, that he feels guilty about

[00:06:36] the whole Jack thing.

[00:06:37] Like he can see in the face.

[00:06:39] Like, because if you remember, he was supposed to go on that mission.

[00:06:41] He was supposed to lead it.

[00:06:42] He, he didn't go.

[00:06:44] That's right.

[00:06:50] Um, he explains that the tension here is that he knows one day he's going to have to tell

[00:07:07] Um, that is dad, you know, it basically, he's the reason why his dad's dead.

[00:07:11] Um, cadet Oliver Garrett shows up and interrupts this moment and learns his first lesson.

[00:07:17] Always knock on the door of people in charge because you don't know what they're doing or

[00:07:24] what level of clothes they have on if they're wearing clothes.

[00:07:27] Um, kudos to Oliver though, for not asking why his shirt is halfway buttoned.

[00:07:35] While he looks disheveled like he and Elizabeth just did, did, did whatever behind closed doors.

[00:07:41] They were just having a conversation, but it didn't look good.

[00:07:43] But it certainly looks like they did.

[00:07:44] And then you say knock.

[00:07:46] Mine's going to wander.

[00:07:47] Um, baby Jack is nervous about his first day at school.

[00:07:50] Uh, even though his mom's going to be there the whole time.

[00:07:55] And Elizabeth gives him Jack's medal to wear, uh, just one time.

[00:07:59] Uh, he tell, uh, he ends up letting, letting a faithful girl.

[00:08:03] I didn't get her name, uh, to where cause she's also nervous.

[00:08:06] Yes.

[00:08:07] And, uh, now he's a hero.

[00:08:08] Yeah, he is.

[00:08:09] Uh, Lee tries to convince Rose.

[00:08:12] Again, guys, Lee's going, I don't know.

[00:08:14] He's going, he's going.

[00:08:15] Lee, uh, tries to convince Rosemary that he should go by telling her the good news.

[00:08:21] They're going to name the park after Goldie.

[00:08:24] Whoa.

[00:08:24] So really you've pushed, uh, Rose.

[00:08:26] Rosemary has no choice.

[00:08:28] I mean, nothing's more important than a park named after her daughter.

[00:08:30] Um, so yeah, she said, uh, he hops on a train to LAX, uh, with Lucas and is shocked to find

[00:08:38] out that that slime ball from the campaign with the mustache, with the mustache, you know,

[00:08:42] the one, uh, he's still around who was originally the tourist mad about the hot springs.

[00:08:46] That's right.

[00:08:47] And hot spring.

[00:08:47] Um, the episode ends with Nathan showing up at night, uh, with a case for the metal.

[00:08:53] Um, and, uh, then they go and they look at the moon.

[00:08:56] They howl, uh, and then they kiss.

[00:10:32] I thought this moment with Little Jack was so sweet and the way he took the medal to school and then lent it to Lily.

[00:10:42] I just thought all of that was adorable and very moving.

[00:10:44] I thought Nathan and, um, Little Jack getting someone on one time together.

[00:10:55] Um, Rosemary not wanting to leave to go out of town.

[00:10:59] Like, and look, I love Lucas.

[00:12:07] program about the Irish movie.

[00:12:09] I, I, I like to think that, uh, I'm a positive person.

[00:12:13] And so I try to find good things about, um, uh, it and, uh, yeah, it's tough out here.

[00:12:22] It's tough out here because it, and it just seems, I thought you had a few in the chamber.

[00:12:27] It seems like, and I can't, it seems like, uh, once again, they do this thing where they,

[00:12:36] where the season ends and you're like, okay, okay, okay.

[00:12:42] And then they squash it.

[00:12:45] It's the hope that is as quick as they possibly can.

[00:12:49] And this is not the first time they have started the season by crushing, uh, a potential storyline

[00:12:57] that could be exciting.

[00:12:59] And, uh, or, or, um, our guy Gowan going up to the door.

[00:13:04] Oh my God.

[00:13:05] I forgot about that one thing.

[00:13:06] They do where they, they, I, I think part of it is they just don't know.

[00:13:10] They don't actually know what they're going to do in the next season.

[00:13:12] So they're like, let's just end it in a way where anything is possible, including Jack

[00:13:17] still being alive.

[00:13:19] Uh, and unless they are going to do the same thing at the end of this season where

[00:13:24] they set up Jack being alive, I think this is it.

[00:13:27] I think, you know, we still haven't seen the body obviously, but we're never going to see

[00:13:29] the body as home.

[00:13:30] So when we see the metal and that I think is a bummer as somebody who is cheering for Jack

[00:13:38] to come back in some way, because we're here minus what?

[00:13:43] Like why, why not?

[00:13:45] It's season 11 billion.

[00:13:46] We may as well just so, uh, think bumps and at least they do it quick.

[00:13:52] You know, at least they pull that bandaid right off.

[00:13:54] Um, and the rest of it, I just, I don't have, I don't, nothing, nothing so far this season.

[00:13:59] Um, has, um, piqued my interest.

[00:14:03] Typically there's a storyline here or there that I find intriguing, but so far, nothing.

[00:14:07] Um, if I had to pick one, it would be Rosemary in good radio.

[00:14:15] Cause I like to play radio.

[00:14:16] Of course we all do.

[00:14:17] So that's something.

[00:14:19] But aside from that, I'm, uh, I, I was disappointed and, and, uh, before I could even get bored,

[00:14:26] I was disappointed and then that made it even easier to become bored because I'm just sad.

[00:14:33] We are here and I'm going to continue to go into every episode thinking there could be

[00:14:36] something in this episode that I'm, that's going to, uh, uh, make it, make it happen for

[00:15:30] It is so ridiculous.

[00:15:34] We've never seen a premiere episode where we're like, this is the ticket.

[00:15:37] It's always, why don't we wait till next week to get everything started?

[00:15:40] This, this show routinely will take two, three, four episodes to really get the ball rolling

[00:15:47] on anything of measurable significance that this show has to offer.

[00:15:52] It is a show that could be, it's virtually could be an email.

[00:15:55] It's a two hour movie, a three hour movie, and you got 12 episodes to figure it out.

[00:15:59] So we're already up against it.

[00:16:02] As far as premiere episodes go, that are all terrible, right?

[00:16:07] Every when calls the heart first episode is a zero of 10.

[00:16:11] Uh, in the grand scheme of those, this is the worst one.

[00:16:16] This is the worst.

[00:16:54] Turns out he doesn't need to talk to her about her husband.

[00:16:57] He just needs to give her his medal.

[00:17:24] I like, I imagine if you love this show and I know people think that I'm just here to make fun of the show as a, as a bit.

[00:17:31] And that, and I'm just being mean for the sake of being mean.

[00:17:33] And I promise you that I'm not, this is very difficult for me.

[00:17:36] And this show is not for me, but trying to empathize with someone who loves this show.

[00:17:41] I guess you're just excited to see all your old friends and you don't care if nothing happens.

[00:17:46] That's the best that I can figure is if you, I think if you're a fan of, uh, of Nathan Grant of, of Kevin McGarry.

[00:17:55] This episode is working.

[00:17:56] If you were watching just for Kevin McGarry, then I guess you have a point.

[00:18:00] Because he's given some good performances.

[00:18:01] There's a lot of him in this episode.

[00:18:03] He's got the, and a lot in more ways than one.

[00:18:06] And there's the, there's the suspenders on button.

[00:18:08] I guess you can make a case.

[00:18:10] It's a good Kevin McGarry watching episode.

[00:18:13] Outside of those folks, if you are here because you like this show and have liked it from the beginning, like if it was me and I liked the characters and the arc, I would skip the first two to five episodes every year.

[00:18:27] Because it is just a miserable, just like slog through the, this, this like slew of despond to get us to the starting line of the plot that will take up maybe 80 minutes of this season.

[00:18:46] And it's not, it's not, I'm, I hate this thing where it's like, it's like Brigadoon where you're just there and just living life with people.

[00:18:54] It's not that it isn't, it is this weird, weird thing that somehow we're getting all of the extra footage from.

[00:19:03] Like if it's four hours long, then it's like, okay, this was a quaint chased, slow moving television program.

[00:19:11] But at 12 hours long, we're getting a bunch of stuff that shouldn't have made it to television.

[00:19:17] And this first episode is just aside from the Kevin McGarry watching, which is a very good point.

[00:19:24] It's just useless.

[00:19:27] And I hated it.

[00:19:28] I hated every second of it.

[00:19:30] It felt like we watched a full length movie.

[00:19:33] It, when, when calls the heart is bad, nothing is worse.

[00:19:37] And I think you're with me on that, that we have to do when, when calls the heart is bad or boring or uninteresting or disinteresting.

[00:19:43] There's nothing that we watch.

[00:19:45] Not an hour and a half long Johnson joint about Niagara Falls.

[00:19:48] Nothing.

[00:19:49] It's the worst.

[00:19:50] You know what?

[00:19:50] And Kathleen brings up a good point here.

[00:19:52] She says, I think some fans are fans of the romance.

[00:19:54] And I will say one positive of this episode.

[00:19:57] And it's a thing that we've talked about over the past couple of seasons is Elizabeth has been barely used over the past couple of seasons.

[00:20:02] We do get a lot of Elizabeth and Nathan in this episode, which if you are a fan of the villain of the romance, then I think that's a win.

[00:20:11] I think this episode is a win for you.

[00:20:12] I guess.

[00:20:13] I mean, I guess there's a lot of people who've been waiting a long time for Elizabeth and Nathan to court.

[00:20:18] Just kiss a lot.

[00:20:19] And I, and I just, that's all well and good.

[00:20:22] They don't go on a date in this episode.

[00:20:24] They have three scenes together.

[00:20:25] I guess we can call that a really good episode for those folks.

[00:22:28] And I think that this show and this episode in particular with that scene did as good of

[00:23:29] But that scene is so like the tension is palpable in that scene.

[00:23:35] The sexual tension is palpable in that scene.

[00:23:38] You could there's no world where they aren't going further than they went there considering

[00:23:45] the history of these characters and how long they've been on and off courting.

[00:23:52] I just, it's crazy.

[00:23:55] But my thing is, is even though that scene does work and it's the only scene that I really

[00:23:59] think does work, no, it's the only scene that does work for me.

[00:24:05] It is no less than the 10th time they've done this.

[00:31:45] Like, he already is feeling all those feelings.

[00:31:47] And this Mountie is like, I'm going to really dig the knife in here.

[00:31:55] And I know, and somebody in the comments just said, I do think he has a history with Nathan.

[00:32:00] I think even if he has a history with Nathan, this is above and beyond mean.

[00:32:05] Jack's touched on this earlier brand, but I do want to know who Elizabeth students voted for in the 1920 election.
